i bought one second hand and i must say the appearance sucks due to chipped off paint, but the quality of the calls and the clarity was impressive for an old mobile. battery is an issue though. drains very frequently. but nice phone.

The biggest problem is that it sorts incoming/outgoing SMS messages alphabetically. For example, a message starting with "A good ..." will always go before "Well, ....", no matter when you received/sent them. Besides, there are certain localization problems - in some countries, you cannot type SMS in your native language, even though it is sold with a localized UI, ringtones and so on.

this is a really great phone. although the painting job isn't so good, it has lasted me 6 years, before the screen went on it. however, i got the exact same phone afterwards, because i can't live without my great panisonic!! haha great quality phone. A+++++

The worse thing from this phone is the battery and the charger plug. It made me have to bought another battery and service the charger for 2 times, but still broken. The best thing, this phone have a great performance and I have to use this for 5 years.

The paint chipps off these really easily and most for sale are in poor condition and because they were expensive when they came out they wnt at least $30 wich is crap.

Really bad battery life. have to charge it everynight, barely make it throught the day i had to make sure i dont make too many calls cause it drains the battery like a camel drinking water. over all it's a good phone but the only downside is the battery

Hi, i hv been with panasonic x70 since june 2006, it was new brand bought from USA. my complaint is it cannont store the power i think the battery hs a problem i bought another battery still its the same. I use it for only one day and the battery goes off yet i dnt receive many calls a day. The other is thw case screen. Can i repair it how. will be happy to hear from you. Immaculate

Lovely phone, lasts for years, apparantly half of them went dodgy though but thats according to a vodafone rep so its probably bollocks as mine was perfect, the only downside of my d600 is that it means my x70 is now lying idle.

This model was offered to me two years ago (2004). It has been working since then properly except for the ring sound just one month after having it. The problem is that this model has never been sold in Portugal and Panasonic just dont repair it. Except for that this is a superb mobile!

i had dis fone b4 i got my 7610......den i swithced 2 n70......dis fone was gret....d reason is y changed is that i was hold-uped and that time i had a panasonic x70...it was great ....very durable....i dropped it several tiimes.....i even had i swim with it "accidentally" but the other day it worked properly i could use its camera and all of its features again....hehe....love it!!!!!

I ordered a Panasonic X70 online, when I received the phone it will not charge, I posted it back to the store I ordered from,(I live in a different country from where I ordered the phone) they said they repaired it and now after waiting for a long time I got it back , (and you know what) the phone is still not charging, What should I do? it is very expensive to post a phone in my country.

i bought the x70 recently from some jerk off of ebay. when i received the phone, i put the battery in and tried to turn it on but it didnt work. i thought that maybe it needed to be charged but when i tried to charge the phone, the light flickered off and on! the phone doesnt seem to charge and if it did, the phone still would not turn on. what do you guys think the problem is? did i get ripped off?

Hi, i was trying to charge my phone the other day and the charger was in properly and it just wasnt charging, it just gave the occasional flicker and then went off, does anyone else have the same problem , i have only had it 6 months, i am considering buying a new phone, also the camera is poor although the battery for me is very good it can last 3 days without havin to be switched off, however now i cannot charge it.

I choose this phone for it looks. Other similar phones often look cheap or too bulky. The navigation on texting could be simplified and more compatable with other phones i.e. Nokia. I also found that the camera quality became very poor after about six months. All in All I was happy with this phone and have still not found one that looks as nice in terms of size shape and finish.

I have just had to get a new phone as my beloved X70 has given up on me. .Battery life is about 3hours .Reception is shocking and would change to static very often .Alarms dont go off .Everything freezes and the phone basically resets itself . If you rename folders, once the phone gets turned off and the battery taken out, the folder names defult back to original names .The cover scratches so incredibly easily, i wouldnt be able to sell mine now due to the damage of the outside .Camera tones cannot be turned off .Sometimes when typing a message i have found that i have been going to type an "E" and i will easily hit the Hangup button, the SMS is then gone forever. It does NOT store them in "create a message" like Nokia's .Sometimes if you have voice memo's saved and you turn the phone off, take the sim card out, put it all back in and turn the phone on, the voice memo's are gone.. forever PROs: .Very cool different colour displays on the casescreen, you can set a different colour for different people calling, or set it as rainbow. Same with alarms, and sms and reminders, all can be set to a specific colour .Casescreen can be set to show analogue or digital clock. When its set to digital, it can either go from Left to Right or Right to Left .Very cute and small .Quite a few different themes .Easy menu to navigate .Very easy to use buttons, not hard to press in .Camera has a light which can be turned on to aid taking pics at night, it also works for a very good torch .Side button can be held down when phone is closed and camera will come on, phone does not need to be open to take a pic So yeah.. hope this helps

When I first got my x70 I thought it was fab however after about 6 months everything started to fail! It wasn't so bad at first but the battery life was beginning to decline. Then my sound totally went as battery life continued to worsen. Now I'm saving for a new phone as my x70 switches itself off very often particularly when a call is coming in. Even after charging the phone for 4 hours I turn it on to have 'battery low' flash up on screen at me. Cool phone at the start but overall very disappointing and a waste of money.

IF you want to load ringtones and other media as asuch i suggest you go purchase a motorola or a nokia thats actually ment for media .. Thios phone is not set to handle all the media bullshit.. barb ... just plug bluetooth to USB port and load with the given software (small cd). Go to organizer > connect > receive object. But just like i said wav files and midi more than 60k not goin to work.

Very nice and handsame phone. Just love it. Very easy to use. Infrared and bluetooth just works. TFT is great. It's so easy to send ringtones and pictures.The only thing what i have'nt get work are games. Where and how can i download them? I'm sure that after that phone i'm gonna buy new panasonic...

I got this phone just under a year ago and i wasn't very impressed with it from the start! The battery life is ridiculous, the camera is really crap and now the sound comes and goes when it feels like it! it must be a manufacturing fault because i see that other people are having the same problem.

The phone is rather good, but the battery is realy bad with few sms messages, few pics and about 20min of talk time it hangs after 1 day. really bad otherwise the phone is fast, network connection is stable . Beside battery life,camera is bad but for me is not important cause i have digital camera.

I bought the phone in october and all in all it's a really good phone. unfortunately the same thing happened to me with the sound. a few days after christmas my sounds just disappeared. and its april and i still dont have them back. they randomly appeared sometime in february but within 2 minutes they'd gone again. you don't get any software with it in england for transferring pictures, so i send them as email attachments to and from my own email address, which is both online and on my mobile... if that makes sense. if anyone else has had the sound problem please post on here as i'd like to know if this is a manufacturing error.

Well, I have this phone about six months now. I always had Panasonic phones because these phones are very reliable, attractive and offer a friendly user interface. This phone rocks! The battery life is very good, standby for over 5 days, but when using the camera a couple of days. But that's normal. The camera works perfect under good light conditions but in the dark the quality goes down. But what the hell, a phone is not a camera, that option is just a gadget, no more, no less. The phone gives no signs of software bugs, using the phone is very easy, I always had a good signal reception and a beautiful and very bright display. Even if the light goes out, it's still bright so you can read what's on the display. The phone is compact, light and has an original sub display with different colours. A few months ago, there was the next standard in phones with the Pana X700, so you can probably buy the X70 now at a friendly price. Panasonic phones aren't the cheapest but with the quality you get, it's worth the money. A winner!

righty o, ive had this phone for about 18 months now and ive noticed various pros and cons... the camera is a bit dodgy, especially in dim lighting and the lack of flash doesnt really help. twilight mode just makes the camera react slower and make people go green in colour. the battery life of this phone is utterly pathetic. i have to charge it every day or else itll be dead by noon the next day. this annoys me to no end. if i spend $600 on a phone im gonna want it to last longer than 18hrs!! on the positive side, this phone is small and light enough that when i put it in my pocket my pants dont fall down. the colour screen is pretty good but the preset ringtones leave a little to be desired.... anywho, i think that about it.

ooh i forgot to add a few things..I have not had any problems with it at all. I accidently even dropped it off a 2nd story balcony :( but not a thing happened to it - only a little mark on the corner but thats it. My battery lasts about a week with normal use and shorter if i use the camera or anything else but thats to be expected.

Overall this phone is great--its functions and style and design. But the camera resolution is rather mediocre, anyway its supposed to be a phone rite? so dun complain. The lacking things are that the phone sometimes restart by itself and sometimes u lose all the contacts in your phonebook. This is rather annoying. And what's worse, to defeat the purpose of a phone, the call sometimes just gets cut off during a conversation.

I actaully considered on buying this fone coz like its function is not that bad and the resolution is quite good... But after comparing it with x700 i prefer x700.. the camera is better and i love the x700 keypad design.. but if i can't afford x700 which when it comes out will be like wat.. RM1600 - RM1700.. Just bought the X70 and I must say that I'm very happy with it. The camera isn't bad at all and the most important thing, the call quality is excellent! The functions are very rich and the phone seems very strong and reliable. This is my fifth Pana and it seems it's gonna be the best!

This phone is a nice small size flip phone with a couple of features that are ok. ie. the time display on the outside case and the hang-up button on the side. The downside to this phone is the camera quality, massive arial and when you want to ring someone from your contacts it goes straight to their home tel number and doesn't give you the choice to ring the mobile etc without going the long way around this. 3 months down the line it has the ability to start crashing, and then not wanting to be recharged as the connections go all faulty. finally, if you like the idea of having a clock on the outside then count this phone out as it only likes to show the clock when it wants and I know a few people with this phone, all of them agree. Nice try panasonic but I would stick to making TV's.

got myself a X70 but somehow it's bluetooth doesn't seems to work. was trying out wz SE-T610. well i can send pic to SE-T610 but can't receive from SE-T610 via Bluetooth. The IrDA doesn't seems to work on my laptop (connected with USB IrDA port which used to work wz my previous Nokia)...a little disappointed wz this X70.

just bought this phone yesterday. it's just simply amazing. it's small and light, very conveniant. even though the camera is not exactly the best in the market, it is not the worst either. there are blue dots when you take pictures in a roo with yellow light. when there is sunlight or let's say white light, the quality is not that bad. if i'm not wrong, the quality of the camera is the same as the sony ericsson T610. the screen of the x70 is very good as well. it is an amazing phone, all of you out there who are considering whether or not to buy, i suggest that you go ahead and buy it. it's really a very good phone.

great looking phone. straight forward to use interface + menu(unlike nokia). intense colours (sonyericson/samsung/nokia colours are somewhat more washed out like whitened). great case screen info with caller ID before you pick up (plus changing colours). poor camera picture quality (u wouldnt use a phone for decent photos anyway). size is a little hard to get a good grasp whilst pressing the numbers. great to see a melody composer, which is a lost function in alot of the new polyphonic ringtone phones, cos i think that the polyphonic tones are a little hard to hear, they get lost in the sounds around you.... altogeather, a stylish phone

Im on my third Panasonic x70. the first one,the display was duff. the second one the battery was faulty and the ring tones were very low volume. if this one goes faulty i will send it back to orange for a different phone. orange have cooperated 100% with me.

Generally, x70 is a good phone but certain things I am really concern is that the phone will helt on you. My I purchased the X70 in mid Feb and it has been helt(Frozen) for 4 times. Also, the phone software wont allow me transfer java games from my computer. X70 support java but I dun think it support java games. So... if you wanna buy it... Think Seriously!!!

Well... I've had this phone for two weeks. Excellent quality phone. Build quality is amazing compared to a lot of other Makes and models. battery Life could improve but with a firmware update your good to go! The Bluetooth stack also has some issues and limits your availability of Bluetooth headsets but once again there should be firmware to resolve this problem soon. All in all an excellent phone with good prospects.

ok ok ... after reading so many opinions, let me just say something....i bought gd88 last year... good phone... very fast interface n internet connection...better than nokia and sonyericsson( i use t610 b.. very slow interface..but can improve by upgrading software). i never use x70 b4.... but nearly bought it... u know wat, the sale assistant told me that the lcd screen got major problem... got a blue line n its the manufacturing fault... a lot of ppl got it...buying the phone then found out about the problem. u can go down to the panasonic care centre to repair n not change to a new phone! they wont allow. thats y i never buy. u see, buying a new phone with problem n no 1 to 1 exchange. finally alotsa ppl actually say that gd88 is better than x70... !!!!!

Just bought the phone! Love the design and features. Execution could be better. I don't care about camera (the best handphone camera still sucks compared to a USD 200 dig cam), but Panasonic should take care of the blue dots. I went to the service center, updated the software, blue dots still on screen. 2) was surprised when I can not send sms to multiple people at the same time. 3) still can not dial up to the internet using the phone from my PDA (HP 2210) via bluetooth. Bluetooth works, because I could send and receive images thru it. This was a cake when I used my old SE T68. Anybody knows why? Unknown: incoming calls will be shown on case display. Buttacheeks: there is a version in gold.

I owned this phone for a week and decided to say goodbye. First the camera night mode is terrible, at home unable to take a nice picture as it's has a lot of blue dots even after upgraded the software. Secondly, the bluetooth came with the phone always got echo not matter how many times adjusted the volume level. Thirdly, cannot receive and read nokia picture message. In addition, the polyphonic tones are quite boring and cannot download java games. If the camera do not functions normal at night or home, what is the point having a camera phone. Not really user friendly as nokia phones.

Diana: You probably can find it on P-Square, Panasonic showroom, on ITC Roxy Mas Ground Floor. When I buy it on Saturday (Jan 10), Panasonic Indonesia was just launched it on Friday (Jan 9) so they only had 5 unit and was sold 3 when I was there. Probably they haven't restocked again, but I think it's still rare for Panasonic clamshell phones to be sold by phone dealers.

Two points about SMS messages: 1) The phone can store up to 200 messages, shared between Inbox and Outbox. You can also move messages from the phone to the SIM and vice versa. 2) The quickest way to see the message sender is to press Read to read the message, then press the up key twice. This way you don't need to scroll down through the entire message to get to the sender screen.

Great design, great features with everything I wanted let down by poor battery performance. Only lasts 2 days on average (was getting full week on previous T68) and too scared to use bluetooth otherwise won't even last full day. Why can't you buy a 12V adaptor to at least overcome the problem?

Well, after playing a little bit further, I have suggestion in reducing the blue dots. Activate the Twilight options. It will give you a brighter snapshot and reduced the dots, as I stated before that the blue dots appears when targeting objects in a dim surroundings. I assume it will be at its best to shot outdoor scenes daylight.

Well, I've picked my phone this afternoon... overall, this phone has very good functionality and features. It's compact, pretty, good signal reception, plenty of features, large memory, and I love the flashing light from the external LCD when there's incoming signal. The menu is quite well-organized although still a little bit messy compared with well-known phones (Nokia, SE, Siemens). But I must say I'm totally disappointed with the camera. Aggreed with Teng, the camera has lots of blue dots, it feels like watching your target in the shower of blue rain unless you're targeting objects in very good lighting. The camera is the only major flaw of X70, IMO. If you're into the camera functionality, I suggest you better get Samsung or Sony Erricson. Even when I pointed at a target, the target will be blurred away. But then after I read the instruction book, it says that X70 using a CMOS camera so the quality of the snapshot can be decreased when the temperature of the phone increased. The using of light on keypad can cause your phone to be hot, so I turned it off and let my phone rested for a while, and then trying to aim some objects again.. the blue rain is decreasing but still lots of them. And I'm totally cheated about the display's size. When it said that X70 has the same display size with GD87, it's actually smaller. My second unsatisfaction, same as Teng, is for the SMS' inbox list. Instead of displaying the list of the sender, X70 displays the messages so we need to read the whole messages to find out the sender. At first I thought I can change the settings this, but I just can't find it anywhere. Another minor unsatisfaction is that I cannot hang some accessories (eg. bells) without cutting the thread first. While Nokia and Siemens allow users to open the phone case and hang the accessories, X70 only provides a small hole at its right side I must say that one aspect that keeps me into X70 is the design, compared with the other clamshell phones and the name Panasonic behind it. It's still a very good phone, but I suggest you better choose the others for camera.

Can't understand PPL, who like nokys. Practice show these guys simply old brand-attracted. Nokia's not the same anymore. Terrible STN displays, big sizes, worst ever rings, cameras out of competition. Very complex non-intuitive menu. Design for gipsies. When get msg - can't simply read - at first should look thru sender info. Only plus - long batt. life-no wonder for such a brick ,but still philips eg. will be always better... X-70:This one's nice(particularly very fine design), but now motorola overcame features.

I wonder you guys work for Panasonic or what? Me & my friend in the electronic trade just bought this phone days ago. On the same day of purchase we found that the camera function is very bad. The LCD appears to have those unstable blue dots which we can't even took a clear picture.The photo light doesn't even serve any purpose. Even Samsung phone V200 can take a clearer picture. Try point the camera against some dark surface, close or far, you will see what I mean. I had sent my phone for repair which they told me is was built to be like this. my friend experience some echo sound when using the bluetooth earpiece. I wonder if this happens to anyone of you. Talk about features, the phonebook doesn't even shows contact no. which what Nokia had(with option to choose).And don't even talk about message.We don't know who sent the message unless we read the whole damme thing. I felt cheated from reading all those ads,partly was my fault because the shopowner told me there is no more stock left and I had to pay first & get the phone on the next day. I discovered the above on the very same day but was not allow to change to another phone.I swear I will not buy any panasonic product again. Well, if you guys really work for Panasonic, I really hope that you can solve my problem with this phone.

Basically this is a wonderful phone...but onli just a small flaw in the camera.While charging the phone, if u switch the phone off and then on again, the camera cannot be used at all. All I can do is to pluck out the adapter from the phone itself and off on the phone again..

X70 was launched in Spore on 5Dec'03. They have road show 6-7Dec, got free gift Sin199 Pioneer DVD player & free head set bluetooth for signing up to the contract plans. If w/o line is Sin$988. Is this phone really thet GREAT ?? Sb knows better ?? Compare with GD88/GD87 ?? Dont waste too much for unworthy product or prototype product. Advice ??

loads of features on this phone. inluding gprs,ir,bluetooth,flash, loudspeaker. but i returned it to orange after testing it. the screen picture was rubbish belive it or not. supposed to be better than gd87. but i had a friend's gd87 and mine on camera mode and his screen clarity was way better than the gx70. also the flash,although bright, hardly made a differance to the clarity of the picture in subdude light.I was well upset.It was because of the better screen that i bought it. Also Orange have put a gastly shade of orange as a background colour in all the phones menus which you cannot change. the phone is too fiddly because of its size and the text messeging editor is below standard(does not compare to Nokia). the x70 seems like a prototype rather than a finished product. A shame because it really does look nice. my phone may be a dud. please try before you buy.

Wow, nothing in specs or in any comments about speakerphone. GD87 had built-in handsfree. This one should too, right? Hopefully it works a little better than GD87's though. Low Speaker was GD87's only flaw. Does X70 Improve on this? Does external display show caller ID?

Yes, it can connect to the net via GPRS. This is for sure. The handset will come with a cool software on a CD and USB cable to everything easier.

No, this is not the follow-up for the GD87. They will sell it together. Now, the GD87 will be cheaper. Still an exellent phone but with less features. The X70 will fill the gaps and the bad points of the GD87.

I'm waiting for this phone, my brother has the GD88 and he's had it for over 7 months and it is so reliable - the X70 is an extension of the model with Java, built in flash camera, etc... with the same excellent build quality. In AUSTRALIA, Panasonic have scheduled the phone to be released late October. If this is the case, then Europe and Asia should get the phone at the same time!

In terms of look and feel, I think x70 is better (personal choice). Flash is one aspect, but I have a feeling x70 camera might offer more features than v600. From past experience also, as a tester from one of the major mobile operators in UK, I feel Panasonic tends to have better overall quality than Motorola phones. Motorola phones can be flaky at times, especially when you squeeze them slightly in your hands, you can feel the plastic crackling a little bit. The success of GD87 has made expectations on x70 to be very high.

Yes, it's a nice phone, very good looking and full of features and with an almost perfect display. BUT: QCIF (176x144) camera just doesn't fit into 21st century phone! You cannot send a "postage-stamp" via email. MMS? How many people do you know with the latest high res coluor display MMS mobile phone, and how many with email? Got it?! Sorry - that's why I'll never buy x70!!!

Two questions [and no - one of them isn't does it have downloadable ringtones ;-)] - Does the screen on the front just show the time, or does it show missed calls, texts etc as well - Is it possible to assign pictures of people to the entries in the phonebook.. so it shows pictures of people when they ring? Come to think of it, can any phone do this? My dream (sad as it may be) is that I could see this on the outside of the phone, but defo no phone seems to do that.

Yeah, we all should support Panasonic and other competitors because Nokia is already too big! The phones they put out all the time are very boring. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. And quality, don't even think about that. I've had many cell phones over the years and I can say that Panasonic is one of the best! They don't produce very much phones because they want to put out very reliable phones. Panasonic waits just a little longer, they want a product that's finished. It's that simple. And the X70, just great!

Craig, your comment is kind of half right but not completely! Java is supported only in as much as the Infusio engine that is used for games is Java based! However this is not the open Java platform which is commonly referred to as "Java". Hence if your operator is one such as Orange who support Infusio, then you've got downloadable Java games, if you're on Voda, you won't. Infusio is in my opinion better than the standard Java platform in terms of the quality that it delivers however it doesn't have the same universal support. I just don't like the statement that it supports Java because this doesn't make clear exactly what it does suport. Anyhow it's an excellent phone nevertheless!

Having borrowed one off a techy development chap at Panasonic, I can honestly say that I think this phone is utterly fantastic. It's a good size, very pocket friendly. The display is bright and sharp and easily big enough. Audio up/downlink is crystal clear. Ringtones, although cheesy, sound good and are very loud. The menus are so easy to navigate, my six-year-old had it sussed in no time. All the toys: Irda, bluetooth, camera, I couldn't ask for more. Top phone! Well done Panasonic!

I think x70 would most likely range between RM1800 - RM2400 in Malaysia. The GD88 was selling at RM3000 when it was first released, yet many people still bought it.

I believe that Hong Kong and Malaysia will be selling the x70 at selected outlets, similar to the GD88/87. In Malaysia, try out top floor of 1 Utama near the multiplex cinemas, they are one of the licensed panasonic mobile retailers and they sell GD88. Another good place would be Low Yatt Plaza- mobile phone floor which is below PC floor.

This phone is 2/3 the size of GD87/88, but packs twice the power. Camera is also much better, pictures can be resized and quality is still good. Ringtones are also better and displays have better resolution due to finer pixel pitch. Very very solid phone.
