Beauty is only it's appearance and not its interface!! Really... it lags, horrible camera, and sucky battery. Don't get this phone, the dealer at my place discontinued selling this product after so many complaints. The seller even suggested me to not buy this phone.

When I purchased this phone in Singapore, it worked wonderfully. But when I brought it back to the states, it was such a horrible experience. Mainy because the network connectivity to this phone is soooooo bad. It's hard to catch a signal with cingular on this phone. The design is wonderful. It has everything you need in a cell phone, but the battery time kinda sucks...Over all, I still love it because it's such an eye catcher...It's still sleeker and accompanying than most of these newer phones out there....

Yeah.. battery life is bad. Can only last a couple of hours. Sometimes it hangs when I send SMSes and I have to retype all over again. High battery / power consumption. Not very advisible to buy

my opinion is... well although d design of x800 was cool but d worst is didnt supported mp3 forced 2 convert wav files, u know making memory low.. also d battery sucks man! just playin a several songs, vids, games.. your batteries is low already... so if u guys was interest at dis hp try 2 consider 1st over & over again.. make sure u guys wont regret 4 buyin dis hp.... tq:)

This is the worst phone and is a paperweight at its best. The battery is really bad and lasts less than 3 hours. Also, the SMSes open up approx 10-15 secs after you have clicked. Also, it switches off and refuses to get turned on. Please do not buy even if they pay you to use it. on the other hand...a gift for the boss you hate :)

The phone feature-wise is great but the battery totally sucks. I strongly disagree with the published spec of 230h of standby time. It can't even go any further than 24hrs!!! Maybe my battery got problem, it even hang while charging and a manual battery removal and restart is needed. I wonder why they used 720mAh battery for a Symbian phone!. This is technically unwise.

There is so much you can do with it! One complaint - battery life. There is only one way to describe it - it sucks! Well, fortunately the phone comes with a backup, and I purchased a desktop charger separately, so I can switch between the batteries whenever I need to. Now I'm just looking for an extra cover/faceplate for this phone, so I can replace the white one that came with it. I tried to make the black one that came with it transparent, but nothing worked. I've used Paint Thinner, Nail Polish Remover, Liquid Sandpaper, all you could possible imagine, but only ruined the cover. So, if anyone knows where I can buy additional ones, please let me know. Zen, Many factors which freeze the phone. Too many programme running at the same time is one of the issue. May be you have too much stuffs inside your phone. Try to load off some unless things and see whether it helps. Or you can reinstall your firmware or simply master reset your phone. Please do remember backup of your important data before so.

This phone is similar with NOKIA 6600. UI looks alike. so if you like Symbian & also wan to be stylish, forget BULKY N6600 and buy X800.

talking about songs, is that fully or partially? some of the songs only play a part of a song for maybe like 10 secongs or something.

Actually I have a similar question with roy's. I remember seeing this type of cel in Japan but a little different. The one in Japan cannot play mp3's or a particular music player unless you download a music player of an mp3 player and install it in the phone. The songs can be saved in the SD card and be played on the phone if software is installed. What about the X800? Does the X800 has to be processed in the same way?

Hey ninha, glad to be of help. now i don't know how the new v3 battery life is, but if it is anywhere close to what the original v3 is, it's not as bad as the x800...i'd say the x800 has about 2/3 the life of the v3.

to answer some of your questions... although it does come with the extra blue face and tools, no you can't change the white back...which is why i just stick with the white face plate. as far as comparison to the v3i, i'd say you made the right choice. the v3i is practically different in all functional aspects when compared to the previous razr's. the 1.23 megapixel camera, itunes, microSD slot, all make it much better than the previous v3's, which I had before the panasonic x800. the x800 is very capable as it does have a lot of functions, customizing, etc., but i'd like to say that the v3i is a lot more capable besides the fact that the x800 has quickOffice, but then again, who on earth wants to look at an MS Office document on that small screen? size-wise, they're very similar, the x800 ix probably 1-2 mm thicker (folded), and 2-3 mm taller (folded, so 4-6 mm taller when open). for personalizing the menus and what not, the x800 and v3 are on the same level...but for the home screen, the v3 blows away the x800. only two customizable home keys, while the v3 has the two top buttons, as well as the 4 directional keys, and if 6 wasn't enough, you can use the "shortcut" feature with the MENU KEY + a number. if you want functionality and can afford it, go for the v3i, if you want looks and uniqueness, the x800 is the one. i chose the x800 'cause it was made available to me for a mere $100 from my roommate who is from Hong Kong. also, if you have cingular, the x800 isn't the best since the only US frequency band the x800 has is 1900mhz. which is why I use it for my t-mobile phone (t-mobile only operates on 1900mhz). cingular with at&t uses both 1900 and 850mhz, so you won't be able to use both towers with the x800. i tried theh x800 on my personal phone (cingular), and i get crappy signals in places where i normally have a great signal (probably locations that have a stronger signal on the 850mhz band).

i just got this phone a couple weeks ago. battery life is on the short side, but liveable for me as i am always around a charging source, either my car or home charger. To answer some questions: -bluetooth issue: when pairing a device (such as a headset), pairing does not necessarily mean connecting. after you PAIR your headset with your phone, you must connect to it with the x800, it does not automatically connect once you pair the two. -ringtones: with the included software, i was able to transfer 30 second song clips (it takes about 30 seconds for a call to be sent to my voicemail) to the SD card in the phone via the included USB cable. the catch is, they're WAV files, but still work fine, the included software converts the bit rate and format for you. and yes you can assign different ringtones to different caller groups. -camera: yes it's a 640x480 vga camera, but WAYYY better than my razr's camera. -service provider issue: i have both cingular and t-mobile (work and personal phones), but with either sim card in the panasonic x800, it says CINGULAR as the provider. i called t-mobile and they say that they share towers with cingular and the tower with the strongest signal will be displayed on this particular phone, which in my area (san francisco), is 95% of the time, cingular...sometimes it says "AT&T". -user interface: menus are nice, user interface is straight forward, although color themes can take a while to load. -ring profiles: about 5 of them, all can be customized, 4 can be renamed ("general" cannot be renamed). when vibration is enabled, vibration does not pulse, it is a constant vibration until each sound file ends...so if you have a 30 second long ringtone, it will vibrate the entire 30 seconds or until you answer the phone. -screen: main screen is very vibrant, better than my razr, outside lcd screen is color, and does show a picture of the person calling (if you assign any pictures to phone contacts). -push button: the auto-open button is indeed useful, and fortunately, you can turn off "auto answer when open" -earpiece: earpiece can be a tad louder, but it is indeed loud enough, more treble than other phones, but this does add clarity. ratings: Looks: 9/10 Functionality: 9/10 Battery life: 6/10 Camera: 8/10 (would get the full 10 if it was a megapixel camera) Reception: 8/10

i've been using this phone for more than a year now, all i can say is that the cool factor is there with its auto opening one push button as whenever there's a call, u just take it out and with one touch on the silver button, pop goes the weasel lol...its long i must say but the phone looks real slick and smooth when u held it to ya ears, the cover of the phones can be changed to varieas color, mine is smooth black as i'm in the business world so no fancy stuff for me, there's white and red, and some textile covers as well...battery is a downer as it last only half day max if u use it more than 2hours to talk and a few text lets say around 10 to 15. button is real good and symbian is nice. if u hold on to the menu button longer than a sec, u will see all the unclosed programs that u've accessed before so its good to know if some one has tempered wit ya phone and check through ya stuff...not many ppl would know these function though as they dont really teach u in the manual book. screen is good and camera is so so cant complain much since its vga. set back would be some times it hangs and restarts itself, its like a pc, it needs to reboot itself for smoother operation lol....memory card is good as its mini sd, but the damn phone cant play no mp3 unless thrid party software lol....big time disappointment on tat...outside display will some times set to difault as it shows either mono time or digi time...beside numbers the rest of them dont glow in the dark so beware texting in dark to ya love ones lol.... games are not bad buti doubt anyone there would bother playing with it...real video player to watch ya mp4...voice recorder not bad, speaker phone good as well...so far the phone hasnt really let me down tat much am using it still...so try it out for that cool factor of auto push opening...aye..no phone has such a kicker...lol..heads would turn and they would ask to see it them selves lol....ho ho ho

Here are some answers for those worried about the mp3 ringtone/player for the X800. Get the WMA1.2 Player for the X800 so that you can set mp3's as your ringtones. Mp3's can only be transfered via a SD Card Reader. This because the onboard memory of the X800 is too small to handle large sized files. Sometimes those small mp3 clips of sounds and songs that you get from the Internet may not work as the phone only accepts the ISO standard of a mp3.

I got my phone used and unlocked last week and I love for its look, programs, ok looks. I have tmobile and when I put my sim card in the phone, my provider saids cingular. So I've manually searched for tmobile but to no aveil, I've called panasonic and yeah you know how the majority of customer service waiting is. Bluetooth, I love it, the first phone I had with it and I've connected to other phones ( sony ericsson, and motorola) but don't know why I can't change where I want a transfered file or media to go to, meaning if I want a file to go to my sd card instead of my phone's internal memory. I got a bluetooth headset (BTH-V8) and it is paired but I don't hear anything through it, I've checked my accesories under settings and the first tab that saids accessory in use, mine is headset. I don't understand if I have my cord headset disconnected and have my bluetooth headset paired, why this problem still continues. Yes my phone is used but where is the reset button or a return to default button, I have a sidekick 2 and a nokia 6101, those phones are great on their own right but it seems lik unlocked phones have the most problems I've faced, so far. I'm really worried about why I can't get connected to my provider instead of being on another because my signal, jumps from none to full every few seconds. My battery yes it is weak but I don't have my phone going all day like my sidekick (internet junkie, for now), so its fine with me as long as I charge everynight, which I do anyway. If there is anyone that knows what I can do about my provider problem, that'l be great, in the mean time, cheers

About PanaX800 USB cabe. maybe you dont' know this way!!! when you connec USB cabe with your PC, you must goto connectivity on your phone, then USB to active the usb of phone. I think it's a safe way to protect the phone! it's really good? and bluetooth connec also has 3 levels to transfer data!! it's better than 7610 and 3230?? i think so. i had my phone for 8 month, and i can talk that it's program is verry good, no dead, no freezer when working as 7610(I also had before). i think X800 more interligen than we hope! with low price!!

- because x800 use symbian OS so it may be attack by virus. you can download antivirus program to kill them in - if your x800 still not work normally maybe some of program files has been deleted when you use it. but you don't know when or why! you should re-istall progam at the service supply. - Panasonic always make phone with batery life so sort! about 24h if you use it normal! -i think x800 is the same with Nokia 6260. screen with more fresh and clear color. more office software. direct print... x800 look nice, thin and only 99g. but sound is bad! batery bad! thank you for attention!

i just bought this phone and its quite good. i like the buttons which are not too soft or hard, just nice. the display is clear and the quick office software is useful except for the quickpoint (powerpoint) which is a bit lagging. the speaker's sound is not clear, not sharp and too bassy for a tiny mobile phone speaker which makes the sound breaks. the external display is a bit dull which only shows the date and time even though it has 65k display and that is a waste. they should put something more such as animations etc. the battery really drains! it only lasts one day! the two games are quite fun. hope to get the 512 MB sd card soon...

Some really annoying idiosyncrasies: First, when the phone is set to silent the repetitive battery-low warning tone still sounds, all day long, which is very frustrating. Second, the phone sometimes 'forgets' alarms if the handset is switched off and then back on again. Third, the battery life is nowhere near what Panasonic claims. It lasts around 70 hours with no use, which is pathetic.

i used my music,(wav.) as ringtones, and it works fine, probably mp3 dnt work, Just use the Panasonice computer disc, to tranfers wav. to your phone. but it cant hold big file, so if you have programs to edit music, u can make the music file shorter and used them as ringtones, I hope u understand.

TBS, 1. It could record as long as you have memory for it. For me, it looks like the same quality as the razor v3. 2. Yes it does play mp3 when you install a 3rd party application. 3.If you dont mess with it, probably 1 1/2 day. However, if you talk a lot maybe 4-6 hours. 4. Its pretty loud. Not as clear as the razor v3 but its good. 5. I dont know.

William, By default the bluetooth will only save it to the phone memory. I dont think we can change it. I suggest buying a flash memory card reader. Megan, Go here and register and get all the symbian application to your heart's desire. MP3 players, tv player, video players, etc....

I have no PC suite to use in US. So I transfer mp3 through bluetooth. but it's in message and do not allow me to transfer to sound/digital sound in the phone. so how can i fix it to play mp3. also when i transfer thru bluetooth, it goes to phone memory, but it has a very limited memory. how can I transfer via bluetooth to memory card w/o going thro phone memory? thanks!

1. The software in US is not going to work. Win XP detects the phone but the Suite comes with the package was not operational. I called Panasonic to confirm that the phone was not supposed to be used in US and it's not working. 2. Which WMA Plus 1.2 should I download? There are so many. I tried couple WMAplus 1.2, after I transfered via bluetooth to my phone, it was under message. When I tried to open it, it said wrong format and could not be opened. Should the WMA Plus be symbian not winXP? Thanks! William

To members, I like to use some of my mp3 as ringtones but it seems not to working for me. I place all my mp3 in the E:\sounds\digital and I dont see any of the mp3 in the setting>ringtones>general>ringing tone. In wma plus 1.20 I go in the option>operations...>find new files. It finds my files but I can only play them in the wma 1.20 but cant use them as ringtone. Any help is appreciate

I have had the x800 for about a year now and i love it. Not many people seem to have it so i feel kind of cool when ppl ask me where i got it from. The only problems i have found with this phone is that the battery life is not all that good. Like someone said, if you receive many calls during the day the shorter the battery life gets, so when im not near my charger it can be a drag because you can't talk as often as you would like.

I've had the X800 for roughly two months now and the phone has been great. But all of a sudden the other day during a conversation the phone went totally dead and I was cut from my phone call. I then restarted my phone but the screen did not light up only the keypad did. I tried it again removing the battery and memory card but it still would not light up. William, thx for asking. i found out my problem and solved it already :) i've installed OGG player into the hp and now i can tranfer MP3 and use it as ringtone. but how can i play these MP3 bsides playing in the voice recorder? i dunno y but the Ultra MP3 doesnt play anything besides its demo. any solutions anyone? should i install something?a player perhaps?

Sorry guys! Bz recently :( Yesterday I tried to syn with my Mac and its work!! I can see the X800 icon in my Mac, lovely. Tetsu: Just throw the stuff to either phone or Card when you use PC suite, it will do the job for you. Ryan: Did you try using Bluetooth? I did try to send few *.sis files via Bluetooth and X800 will take as message attachment and when you open it, your fone will ask you whether you would like to install the programme attached.

- kanebis Yes the video will be jerky if the quality setting is too high. I found out that if the xvid bit rate is higher than 112Kbps we will see the video lagging. So anything 112kbps or lower is fine. The video quality wont be clear but its good enough to be play on a phone.

Just got this phone like five days ago and I'm enjoying its features; despite its not so long lasting battery time. Installed the WMA 1.2 player via my infrared transfer from my computer to the X800. My laptop has a infrared port. Once the program is downloaded into the phone it is instantly recognized as an installer. Quite a good thing for a Symbian OS phone to perform that action. Clicked 'Yes' to install the program and thats it. Transfered my necessary music files via the MiniSD Adapter. Transferring songs via infrared will allocate it to the phone's internal memory before it is moved to the SD card; which you have to perform by yourself.

Im starting to like this phone more and more by playing with it. I just install the smartmovie demo and I just have to say wow. Im suprise how the quality of the converted video was. The downside of this phone is that the battery doesnt last very long. I had a full charge and only last 3-4 hours using it. It last 22 hours when I left it alone. Im not sure if that is right or not because this is my first cell phone. The video camera is okay not clear but ok for a cell phone. I give a 8.5/10

Dustin, 1) Install your driver disc which comes with the package. 2) Connect your phone with the USB cable to your PC. (See manu booket for detail) 3) Go "Manu > Connect > USB" and activate the connection. 4) Start the porgramme 5) Download and unzip the WMplayer which I have already posted the link below. 6) It is a *.sis file, click on it and follow the step to install into your phone, not card. For the rest, please read the posts.

Dear friends, You can actually create RANDOM RINGTONES on WMA Plus 1.2 and OGGplayer. 1. Rename one of your mp3 or ogg file into "random_ringing_tone.mp3.../ogg" in your PC and upload to your X800. 2. Keep all the tones into one folder - "Digital sounds". 3. Open your player and add all the ringtones you wanted in your playlist. 4. Go to "Menu > Setting > Ringtones" and slecet any profile you want, then choose random_ringing_tone.mp3.../ogg as your ringing tone. And try to make a call to yourself and you will hear different ringtones each call. 5. Go out and show off to your friends :)

If still no sound on the keytone that means the speaker is dead. william: First of all, before you open the programme...have you go to "Menu > Connect > USB" in your X800 to activate the connection? Hi Eugene, The port connection is fine as indicated by hte mRouter. But the application is set to be offine even with my phone connected. And the program window is blank with only the tool bar on top. And the tool bar doesn't allow me to do anything except for help!!!

I just recieved the x800 from plemix on ebay, and for some reason I cannot hear any of the preset ringtones or any ringtone at all. unsure, Ok, It is because your file tag problem...try to use either iTune or Winamp to change the ID3tage to V2.4... I am using 1GB card and there is nothing wrong with it. I have download movies and songs in it...no lag! Just make sure you have close the programme when it is not in use. One thing bear in mind, I tried to use my Mac programme - GarageBand to cut MP3 ringtone but when my X800 auto reset when I open it!! Be careful....

simon, Actually, they are the same...only each supports different format of music files. But MP3 nowadays is more common....so, your choice ;)

Kanebis, The only thing which works is to use a Bluetooth handfree with stero output in order enjoy stero MP3. X800 only has mono output. I recommand the iTech Clip S35 Bluetooth handfree(http://www.itechdynamic.com). Just download the driver and connect to your phone, then you can relax and enjoy your music ever since...:)

Actually this fone is not so bad after all...smartphone, slim, bluetooth, infra, card slot (Up to 1GB miniSD), changable cover... You cannot expect a phone as slim as this can give you a long talk-time (ask V3 users) and what Panasonic compensate about this is to give you an additional battery in their lastest package. Due to the CPU is 104mhz with 8MB ram (16MB flash ram)...please be understandable for why your phone got lag when you input houndreds of pictures...she is already runing faster than Nokia 3230 and as same as 6260. For MP3 ringtone, you can D/L "WMA PLUS 1.2"...and save the MP3 at "E:\sounds\digital".

Hey Okay Saman.....if your Bluetooth headset isn't reset it may not work with your x800 mine seem to do that b4 i learnt this....so you should hold down your power button of your headset on till it lights up and stays lite.... then have your x800 search for your headset.....................NEXT..........James you might be havin the same problem as i did but i learnt that the phone's driver has to be installed in order to work with the program and phone. so you can find it on the CD to upload it...good luck

Hey i got something else for all you x800 users....the phone has got tha same setup as a Nokia 6600 i think that that name..??? but if your search Nokia themes you can clearly see that its the same looks as the x800 setup...sooo if your interested to get themes for your phone juss search for "nokia themes" and you should be on your way with a new lookin theme...

Why is my bluetooth headset not being recognized? Please help. i have a motorola bluetooth headset which worked great with my Razr, but the x800 can not find it. I have set as "on" "visible to all" and when i try to "pair a new device" it says no device found. I am confused. Any suggestions?

hey i notice that if you download games that are made for tha N Gage phones it all seem to work well....sooooooo if you are lookin for new games search N gage and they are great for the X800....but i styll think i need a new battery... J_son

To send midi files and some other files which won't get sent via the phone normally, download a program called WiSend. This lets you do it. I just got this phone and love it!

The only way I can find to turn off shutter sound is to take a picture with PhotoBase. There is an option in there to turn off sound when using the camera, but unfortunately, it doesn't extend to using the camera normally.

On my Nokia 6670 I can set as many as 5 actions on the center key, and 2 more on the selection keys I have noticed the option to program the 2 selection keys on the X800. However, is the center key a 5 way and if so how do i assign action to each direction/press?? Does it also have a Go To function like the nokia does??

ohh men why don't u read other posts?? YES it does play MP3s through ogg format.. geez ...in sx1 I also couldn't switch off the shutter sound but I noticed that when I switched it into a silence mode than the shutter sound was killed at last so maybe this is the case with this device too. for the battery life. remember to turn off all running programs. hold the menu button down and you can see all your active programs. when they're active it kills ur battery, so remember to 'exit' or 'close' all applications when finished with them. i found this out from my friend. The battery lasts relatively long if you remember to do this.

yeah this isn't a bad fone at all i really like the styleish look and the flip button works great....but tends to go off on it's own in my pocket...anywaz i need to get a second battery because the life on this fone's battery isn't that good....i've uploaded a game but had a hard tyme doin it...i haven't been able to use the internet yet but...ive only had it for awhile now almost a month..soo maybe sometyme soon..i get sooo scared when i show it to a friend....but its a big hit (they love it, and hate me....lololol)...!!! I have had this phone for a month and so far I cant complain. The camera is great quality for VGA, my GIG mini SD works great, and I got my MP3s.... But I wonder, if any of you out there with this phone, have had problems getting programs to work? seems like %80 the programs i used to use on my ngage (symbian os) dont work on this. Smart Movie player plays movies choppy as hell... and other programs freeze. Anyone else have this problem?

ok sorry to correct my own mistake.. video recording can be set to unlimited by default. point added but then still lagging. picture captured on screen itself this very clear becos of the brightness and color. ringtone can be improve if correct high pitch midi is selected. loudest i am still acceptable. one PROBLEM i have is the msg max word still remain at 70 even thought i changed it to english input instead of chinese. anyone know how to slove the problem pls mail me or post onto there thanks. photo flash light is bright so can take up to a protrait in totally dark room.. alright that fair enough and can use as a touch light if u wan.. effective and usrful.

Prospective Buyers... the phone is highly recommended if you can stand a day of battery life. Also, it is kind of hard to talk when it is plugged onto the wall because the adapter hooks up on the right side of the phone. I am afraid of what happens, if and when the button for to flip the upper set goes off... what happens? will it stay on and have to tape it to stay down? be all well!!

If you use the software given to you to transfer the Wav into the phone, the wav file will appear smaller in the phone compared to MP3s. So meaning it would safe more space using wav. rather than MP3, but you have to use the software that comes with the phone. Not other third party software.

Hi Lisa, yes I have this phone on T-Mobile (in NY) and yes GPRS/web browsing does work for me. You do have to specify the proxy address and port, but I think that should have been in the settings you got sent. You could also try getting the settings sent from Nokia's site, the Nokia 6600 settings work on this phone.

I'm currently using the Sharp TM-150 car charger for my X800 and it works. Ultra Mp3 only plays Mp3s. To set songs as ringtones you have to use OGG Player (converts files to OGG so you can set as ringtones). You can also use WAV. files as ringtones but not mp3.

are u 100% sure that the Sharp TM-150 car charger works?? have u tried it?? coz im trying to locate one... anyways i got the phone for like 3 days now!!! However I am lookin for 1) A Car Charger which no stores seems to have for this model yet 2)RIngtones either mp3 voice ringtone we can do ourselves or not? or a site that offers high quality ringtones but wont charge me an arm or leg. been using it for a week now... basicly this is my review.. pros: good functions, as a symbian should perform.. runs applications considerably fast.. keypads are a feather touch so its easy to use.. loveeee the photolight... style.. cons: batteries die out too fast.. a little bit of "freeplay" at the hinge of the clamshell... until now i can't locate a car charger for it.. not even the original ones... (perhaps its still new?) end note: yes, i will still buy it coz, i already bought it anyway.. hahaha... its a phone dats not expensive and has style to go with it... thank you panasonic for giving me another choice!

So basically, this phone is something like this: - it support wav as ringtone; not mp3... - it has speaker phone; useful when driving... - it doesnt have megapixel; same like x700 = 0.3mp ( kindda drawback ) - bluetooth problem; hopefully firmware update will be provided by panasonic conclusion, i dun think i will buy it now.. maybe i'll wait until 3rd batch in malaysia... hopefully it will be fully operational...

no u cannot set mp3 as ringtone but u can use ogg as ring tone and oggplayer is free. U can see the pic of the caller on the front panel but it a bit small unless u use a third party software like Fcaller

i just got this phone this week. its amazing it has everything!! and yes there is a 1.2 mp camera. it 'clicks' everytime u open and close it and it sounds sooo cool!! - all and all, an extremely nice phone- with tonnes of features!

Battery life isn't that bad. After the third charge or so, I still get at least 85% battery at the end of the day (my average daily use is about 30-40min of talking, a few text messsages, and the rest in standby). I figure that I hook my phone up to the charger every night before I sleep, no matter how high or low the battery is... so it isn't that big of deal. The headset volume is a little on the quiet side though... but i figure I'll be getting my bluetooth headset soon enough.. so that won't matter too much =)

The keypad does have a backlight, it's just the top two keys (the "soft" buttons) that aren't lit. SMS messages do show the name from the address book in my inbox. The screen is bright and sharp, no complaints there. One other minor problem is the audio--even at maximum volume the phone is fairly quiet and it's hard to hear if you're in a noisy environment.

If you need to get GPRS/MMS settings, you can tell them you have a Nokia 6600/6620 because they use the same OS as the X700/X800. In fact, you can often download the settings for your provider from Nokia's support site. Of course, I am still trying to get my X800 to talk GPRS on the Cingular network, but when talking with customer service the 6620 (which is supported by Cingular) has the same menus and settings.

this x800 has only a vga camera, pls don't ask again what 1 or 1.3 or...camera. if u are buying panasonic phone, be prepared to use long cos it has low resale values. by comparing the prices, i think go for nokia phone with the same functions or more is more value for money. not forgeting, there is one & only one service ctr at bukit merah (similar to motorola one only at plaza singapura). japanses products are reliable normally on cars, household appliances but not handphones. by the way, the choice is yours.... gdluck!

The cable provided is not able to support charging. There is a usb cable for charging but I don't know where to find it in singapore. The camera is VGA hi res is 640x480. Thus it is not 1 Mega pixel. However I have compared the photo quality of Nokia 3230 1.2 Mega pixel and Pana X800 on the PC. I dun really feel any different.

Hi, I just bought this phone. I have two questions - 1) Is it possible to charge the phone using the USB data cable provided? I'm having some problems...If not, is a separate USB data cable available 2) The camera resolution says CMOS VGA - now the promoter in Singapore who sold me this at the Starhub shop said this is equivalent to 1 MP resolution....doesnt seem right, does it? Thanks emon for your help, will try out your recommendation. Now, I've just discovered another problem. I know that the battery is not very lasting, however, when i charge the phone after the battery has gone flat, the phone will go blank when i restart it. Can't switch it off or do anything with it except to remove the battery from the phone and insert it again, then only it can be used again. Is this a common problem among X800 or am i just the unlucky one? Is there anyway to solve this? Thanks.

hi ryan...u can upload mp3 song with card reader to your miniSD,thats very easy and faster.If in inbox u cant save the mp3 so u need install "seleQ" and use seleQ to save your mp3 song. i never send mp3 song with bluetooth and i dont used ultraMP3 becoz mp3 song cant set as caller ringtones or message tones, so i used OGGPlayMMF, song with OGG format can set as caller ringtones and sms tones...and OGG file is 1/2 of mp3(if mp3 file 4mb,when u convert to OGG...its only 2mb). Before u send OGG file to your phone, 1st install OGGPlayer MMF ver.1.6.4(its free n no need to register, just search in google). For convert mp3 song to OGG format, u can use "super mp3maker" or "soundforge 7".

So I'm trying to figure out what the biggest difference is between the X800 and the X700. so far I can only figure out the side flip button and the external screen (more colors). The one thing that bugs me from the X800 inside of the phone is that it doesn't seem to match the style of the outside casing. Or should i just skip both phones and look for a different model? I was hoping for a Series 60 flip-phone and one with a good camera, skinny model, external screen, and speaker phone.

sound expensive but i spend SGD10+ to buy the fingerprint resistance pda screen protector on the screen to solve the fingerprint problem. Even my face of oil dun leave any more stain. For the front cover i use plastic (normal use for fish)wraps to wrap the front cover then screw it back on. Tried a few time before it look perfect(but this wrap much much cheaper). Finally no more stain problem. Battery is quite short if u use the phone alot. I tried playing MP3 and by 3hr ++ left 3 bar. I dun think it is useful to use it for mp3. I heard that there is a third party 900mh battery sold in HK. Maybe that is a solution for heavy user

The button are easy to press (at least for me) There is no light for the soft button, cancel and menu. But i can see them in the dark because of the screen light so not really a problem

thanks for the links. Btw i was adviced to charge the battery overnight for the first charge (at least 8 hr best 12hr). Lasted 24 hr for the first charge (left 2 bar). By the second charge onward the battery lasted 2 1/2 to 3 day on normal phone usage. Remember to close all program when not in use by using the "remove miniSD" option. This will greatly increase the battery duration.

Hmmm, let's see... Okay, the Panasonic X800 is a cool phone overall. But the battery (BRAND NEW ONE THAT COMES WITH THE PHONE) is awful. It lasts not longer than a day, just standing by, PHONE NOT USED AT ALL. It is also a shame that the camera isn't a megapixel camera yet. The colors of the screen tho' even at only 65K is lots better than the Motorola RAZR V3 with the 256K colors. Strangely 'tho, any picture (not a photo made with the phone) on the X800 sadly does not look good at all... Had the X70 and the GD88, and those two were cool, the X70 was the best in screen ability, features, durability, etc., best overall... Try taking a photo with a GD88 than transfer it to the X70... YOU WILL LOVE IT! And the "smartphone" X800 CAN'T EVEN PLAY MP3-S BECAUSE PANASONIC DID NOT PUT A SYMBIAN BASED MP3 PLAYER ON THERE... Anyone know of a third vendor software mp3 player that works on the X800? HELLO X800??? Any upgrades of software or so??? PLEASEEEEE?

I love this phone! Working as advertised. Everything is in English as I only speak English. Speaker is a little low, but I have an ipod for MP3s and also a Bluetooth headset from Motorola - which is awesome BTW. It is a bit slow, but no biggie. I bought a 512mb card and dowloaded some 6mb photos. Not a good idea because it is too slow - will resize the photos later. Battery last me for a day of typical use, and is better now that I conect it to the USB while I work. QUESTION: IS THERE A PROGRAM TO SYNC PALM? I transferred my Palm info from my Treo, but I can't sync it. Don't want to buy and have to use Outlook... :(

ok this answers some of the questions i see since i last posted the last time i checked, it cost S$498 with a 2 year contract and for the one asking how ht eenglish n themes look here goes: english works great! (i only can read english) and the themes are working fine for me too, haven't tried self made ones, but should be just fine... games can be downloaded, wad i did was i downloaded a gameboy emulator for phones, so now i can play .gbc and .gba games!! last but not least, the amount of mp3s that u can store in the phone is not fixed... plz email if there are anymore questions...

I just buy this phone, it is great... (I think they use same technology as nokia... weird thing is when I use Quick office and found out that the document on the phone is actually stored in c:\nokia.... what the heck is nokia doing in this phone anyway? :)) Very good "smart phone", just a little difficulties in installing its "phone suite" but overall it is a good phone. it works with english. I use english interface and use t9 chinese for messaging. you could change interface and input language in the phone's settings. it's pretty much the same as nokia 7610 interface. it's a very good smartphone, slim and light weight. I can icq, check email, read webpages and play ngage games on this phone. the only problem is battery life, I've to charge it everyday.

I love this phone as well. But after seeing my Friend's NEC N840, I am falling in love with that flip phone instead. I currently have s700i, with 40 channels ringtones, which X800 has. The 64 channels are far better and sound like REAL musics. WOW!

yeah, there are themes for the X800... and yes, oggplay allows u to use .ogg files as ringtones and message tones... *note: when i encoded my mp3s to .ogg, it took up about 2mb per song, the phone does have a limited memory space, so does the mini SD card, so forget the idea of having a library of music...

Yo guys!!! you have got to try oggplay out, download the MMF version for ther ver60 symbian OS. mp3s are first encoded to .ogg den played on oggplay, but there is also a way that allows u to use ur songs as the ringtones!! haven't personally tried the ringtone part but the playin of music is great!! furthermore, .ogg has a smaller file size as compared to .mp3 which is a plus point since we dun have HUGE memory space on the phone.. OGGPLAY ROX!!!

You do can set specific ringtones as well as photos for individuals. Battery life wise, it was very bad the first day I got it, lasting less than 8 hours on a full charge. Now, a week later, each full charge can last me about 2 days on my typical usage of around 10 SMS and 20 minutes on the phone daily with maybe about 15 minutes of fiddling around the other stuff such as the organizer, or games. I am also not sure if this is typical, but I do get 2 pieces of original batteries when I purchased my phone.

After installing OggPlay, you are only able to additionally play and use as ringtones Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) files on top of MIDI (.mid) and SMAF (.mmf) files. If your songs are originally MP3s, you will need to convert them to Ogg Vorbis first somehow. Or if you want to play MP3s directly, you can purchase software such as UltraMP3 or MP3Go to do so.

Otherwise, use the free OggPlay to play the better quality Ogg Vorbis files instead. Had it for 3 days already and loved it. My only complains so far are the rather short battery life (I think it needs some "burning in"), and the glossy surface interior as well as exterior (which really invites fingerprints and grime stains), and that it feels really plastic.

X800 supports all the normal features that are compatible with any symbian phones. Personally I feel X800 is much cooler than the X700 in hardware design. Really resembles very much of the Mobile phones used in Japan! :)

Reason why X800 is much cheaper: 1. Basically X800 is the improvement of x700 so the development cost is low -X700 is the first Symbian model of panasonic so during that time, it is on the trial and error stage. 2. Manufacturing cost is low because minor modification on equipment is done to conpensate on the changes of x800. (this means that equipment of X700 is also used in X800). 3. part are much cheaper since some of the latest tech that time are now already common to all phone when X800 is released.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN X800 & X700 X800 difference in terms of software -much faster -mobile ofice + can open pdf file -improve video X800 difference in terms of hardware -The thinnest smart phone -One push hinge (original with panasonic) -improve LCD display (much clearer and defined) -2 internal antenna ( 1 is use during open condition and one is use during close condition so signal is improve on this phone ) -interchangable cover -Enhanced Audio-Visual Entertainment (stereo HS circuit) -speaker is also different(Ceramic speaker amp same as P900iV)

x700 = x800 = the same feature over and over again , x800 just changeable covers and without antena. For display every phone has brightness settings. As more brightness take more batt power.

Well, 260 k or 16 m, colors would be great, mp3 ringbones also, camera is not a very important thing, I don't care about resolution, I do care about quality, but the point is, the design is something outstanding, it reminds me the design of my Nakamichi sound center, I like every little thing from keyboard to slim design, and it is much better to have a smart phone with this design than to have a phone with 1mpx camera and 260k screen without OS, coz we don't have superb looking smart phones at all, yes nokia had all of X800 specifications year ago in their UGLY MONSTERS.

Yes, is true that X800 resolution is higher than V3. It is brighter, clear and the colour hue is the highest. Although this phone don't support MP3 ring tones. But it support WAV sounds and OGG sound format. You can download the OGG player from allsymbian.com

Bullshit!!! I tried this phone yesterday.....the screen is so clear & so fine. My Motorola V3 has got 262K & the same pixels as this X800 but the screen og this panasonic is so much clearer in comparison. The screen & VGA camera quality of this phone is at least 10 times higher than my Moto V3......do not trust the manufacturer's specification!!!! See the real thing for yourself!!!! The reception of this phone not too stable ( the one I tried )& the hands-free speaker produce a lot of un-necessary background noise.

yup, basically x800 is just x700 w/o the antenna and with the changeable cover. i'd still pick x800 over the x700 for the sleeker look and the thinner body. rumours has it that it should be out in march... let's hope they won't be any delay with it like the x700.

I think the significant difference between the X700 and X800 is that X800 does not have antena while X700 has. Also the casing is changable. One thing having an antena is a pain. So comparing a X700 and X800. I would say X800 is better in terms of the absence of the antena.

Whatever u put in z800 application u can put in x700 & x800.as example, Its like under Windows xp ,whatever u got in ur computer,i can have it too cause im using windows xp,cause the main things its using Symbian 7 series 60, so if it cost big fortune for these 2 phones i suggest get x700 cause itsall same,unless u wanna spend money for the looks.All using mini sd card that max can take is 256mb.If u says theres no mp3 thats wrong , Im saving 50 mp3 songs on continous play in my x700 and sounds clear and perfect. i did not rely on gsmarena for my phone info or i won't be repeating for ever and ever that there's no 1.3megapix cam for x800 when it was stated that there is. (well they removed it) and if you bothered reading my post properly, i was not the one who said abt hardware for mp3s, i was quoting someone else. i did mention a third party software to play mp3 and as long as it's a symbian phone, you can find a third party mp3 player for this phone and z800 is a 3g phone. look around in chinese sites, it has 2 cameras. one for photos and the other for video conferencing.

z800 is a 3g phone, so it's different. and some1 posted this in another forum As for MP3, X700 does not have digital rights management hardware, until Pana decides to put this hardware in, there will be no OEM support for MP3s. Maybe next time around??' (lost rebel in howardforums.com) so it might not play mp3 unless you use 3rd party software or have mp3 ringtones. not a biggie to me, i still want this phone!

thats not true x700 cant use mp3 i have used it and tried it wont read them or play them that is a difference with x800 it can and same with avi x700 cannot and x800 can. read the review on gsmarena they state it cant use mp3 or video, and series 7 is better then six cuz it is a different layout and it is faster for going through menu and playing large files and video

there is no 1.3megapix cam. gsmarena has already removed the 1.3megapix cam in its specs. i guess there isn't much differences between x800 and x700 except for the look and the fact that x700 has 8mb of memory while x800 has 16mb.

i hear lots of peeps saying they wished it had a 256k screen but you know panasoinc even in japan hasnt gone higher then 65k, obiously they dont think it makes a diff and he screen quility of this phone is still just perfect! and for those who think it is out dated 1.3mp is still in and it has the latest version of symbian plus bluetooth and irda and it looks way cool! the p900i was a 1mp cam and it still looked great this will be.3 higher and will be just as good if not better then the s700i cam wich is really good, and panasonics cam are good in dark or no light situations!
