Its well known problem, caused by too flexible PCB. The "network-responcible" IC looses contact to it and has to be re-soldered.

I had this phone back in 2003, as my first mobile phone. It was so expensive back in the days...After a few months, the signal of the phone became weaker and weaker by the day, and all the time I thought it was just my network provider's problem! 8 months later, the phone couldn't get any signal anymore and the shop told me it was a "serious problem" that would cost me half of the money of the phone to fix, so there went my first ever short-lived phone...

Hi I bought this little gem as soon as it was available here in Sweden, a number of years ago. It was expensive, well over 300USD. I wanted the smallest possible phone with SMS, good keypad, timer and stopwatch (I do a bit of running and exercising (need the stopwatch to time rests between sets)), and the T600 was my choice. It has served me well, and is still fully functional, to my surprise! Thanks for the tip about getting the battery firm in place with a little piece of cardboard, in case the reception goes bad. But I havn't noticed this as a problem with my phone (my phone har firmware revision version 2A, and maybe they had fixed some bugs from earlier firmware?). But I have noticed that the back lid loosen up a little bit over time. If my T600 dies on me I'd go for a really small Samsung or Motorola clamshell phone, with timer and stopwatch. I still prefer the lightest and smallest sized phones, as I wear them while jogging, etc. Bye from Sweden!

This was my first ever mobile phone! Loved how tiny it was and light as well. A lot of my friends found it hard to type text messages on it but I thought it was not so bad. Then it broke down after maybe a year (or less actually), just couldn't find network anymore. Seems like I'm not the only one though!

If you change your battery with a stronger one(900mAh), and solder the phone processor in a service, all the problems with the reception will be solved

Someone gave me this phone and I was about to chuck it as I was having the reception problems. The phone is very small and light, a little bit fiddly if your trying to SMS. Seems to just have a few features less than my T65, but at least it's much brighter! But it's still not for me, I'll give it to my mum hehe Try the solutions listed below it might work. It's still too nice a phone to just throw out. thanks to the other posters =)

Hiya this is my 2nd T600, my first T600 was a 2nd hand phone, it worked for a day or 2 n then started showin the message "No network" tried to get it repaired form a local tech n dun know wht he did with that phone it heated up after half an hour of the repair n it never wored again, then i took it to a SonyEricsson service center, they said that phone is of no use n cannot fix it. had to leave that phone with SonyEricsson people, then brought another one around 5 months back, this one is also a 2ndhand , had to go for a 2nd hand phone reason being that the product was an outdated product, n was not awailable as a 1st hand, even tried on ebay cudnt find a brand new product, i love T600, thats best phone one can have.

I was also very disappointed in the sleeping bug problem, losing network all the time, until I tried the solution by gerrit. Put some cardboard or paper to make the SIM press better against the contacts. Put in battery. Then fill up remaining space with some more paper/cardboard and close it with the battery cap. My T600 lost network within 3 minutes of turning it on. The Gerrit solution has made it running for 6 days straight now, no problems anymore!

same like masa; i had my first t600 that gave problems in finding network. under guarantee it was repaired. after a few months it failed again. still under guarantee they gave me a new one, just one year later this one is also broke (always same problem) i noticed that this phone couldn't stand heat, in summer i had to place it above my airco in the car and then it could find a network. a friend had the same phone, and had ...the same problem; seems that this is a general production fault

I have been using the phone almost 2 years. It started giving problem for Searching network. I thought the problem may have something to do with loose connection of SIM card. I have put small pieces of paper inside the phone, as padding above the SIM card. Now it works fine. Sometime get problem for Searchng Network. Then I open it and again adjust the papers inside and it works fine..

I really love it.. it's small, triband (i have a real need for a triband), integrated antenna, NO flip open (i hate that).. and it has all the functions i need... Hello T600 users, lovers and haters, I own a T600 for two years, smallest phone existing on the market. Fancy. Period. 60g. Tri-band. Who wants more. So small I lose it in my pockets. This phone does have a problem with disconnection from the network: following advices have solved my problems. The worse of all this is SE hasn't even looked into this problem. That's why I'm thinking of buying a Nokia, a phone however fancy it is is of NO use if you cannot receive and you cannot call or refer to Service to fix it. 1) The first is that the standard battery 610 mAh is a bit weak for emission/reception in closed places. The stonger the battery the better the network connection: ON ANY PHONE. Batteries go bad with time. After a year or two you should consider replacing with a new and possibly stronger battery: I advise the 760 mAh for the sony erricson T66. Same fit. 2) Second, the battery seems to get loose in its casing with time and can move without you knowing it. You will lose your network. It will not exert enough pressure on the electrical contacts. I have pressed the battery slightly on boot up, the netwok problems I have been having for the last week dissapear (I was going to trash it). 3) A remedy for this problem is to apply scotch tape inside the battery cover, 4 or 5 layers or more until the covers close snuggly and tightly. Hope this helps some of you out there. You can buy a 760mAH battery at WWW.cellularbattery.com. First try to charge your exisitng battery and check if you have battery connection problems. Jetset

This unit along the way with T66 were the smallest SE mobile phone I've ever seen. Wanted to have this one before but have no money then. B/W and gray shades phone however are not in great deal now. Second owned handsets of this kind are cheaper so if you like this kind of phone, grab 'em (if you only like texting/calling and kill the time playing built-in games).

Tina, i've tried Vrally, deep abyss and mini golf.and out of these 3 only Vrally is pretty interesting far as im concerned. its a car game as the name suggests. the controls are easy and well its like anyother normal mobile phone car game.but it's pretty interesting.deep abyss is a game where you've got to avoid falling down from a steep hill or colliding with this bird that comes flying your way.there are balloons that come from below so that you get on them and go up.its not really great and pretty slow on Sony ericsson phones as usual!!! mini golf is pretty confusing and hard to play.you have to mark the direction in which you want the ball to go and then hit it.but it always goes in a different direction !!! WEIRD !!! so i guess you wont be missing much without deep abyss and mini golf but Vrally is nice and i think so should vrally 2..it sounds the same though ive never tried it. cheers

Absolutely hate this phone! It was always "searching network". First thought it was a providerproblem but wenn I gave the phone away to a friend, he had the same problems. I hated the sound of the ringtones. Very weird was the phonelock. Wenn the phone asks you for a code, just wait a while and the phone will accept you by it's self. So everyone could enter en use my phone... 3 months after I bought this phone I noticed that in Holland all the phoneshops stoped selling this phone. Guess that says enough....

it nice but, if you were my friend don't buy it. BEcause during the 6 months that i had it i always had many problems with: -charging -games after level 3 of game 4 the phone restar it self -i was loosing network most of the time. i took the phone to sony-ericssons service and the gave it back after 14 days telling me that the phone is out of guarantee because of negligence of the user :) and mechanical shook :)))) ( i never droped it ; it looks perfectly) THIS IS THE ANSWER THAT SONY ERICSSONS SERVICE GIVES FOR EVERY PHONE WITH A MALFUNCTION FROM THE FACTORY THIS IS AN ADVICE FOR EVERYBODY WHO WANTS TO BUY A SONY-ERICSSON PHONE, but especially for the ones who live in ROMANIA. I have been having problems with reception now and then. At a shop where they repare cellulaire telephone they told me they are not going to touch that phone because they all have reception problems, with which they came from the factory. At the store where i perchase my T600 they told me that the person at the repare store where telling lies because they never had any complaints. It is a very good phone, has all possible features (T9, sms status report, long sms, wap, ... all that you can wish for in a basic phone and comes with the best quality (menu speed, sms speed, screen readability, ...) It really has everything except colour screen, gprs, java, bluetooth, in one word it has what you need. Battery is ok. Not recommended for heavy users though. Its size is excellent for those that want to have the phone with them all the time (can't be beaten); it is too small though for those that make a lot of calls or long calls (not so handy when calling; earpiece also heats up). In the second case get a big phone like the A2628 or T200 or so. In all, I find the T600 very underestimated. When people complain about their mobile, it is about something the T600 does better or afeature they miss that the t600 has.

I was given this phone as a present and have had it for a week and a bit now (was hoping for a Siemens S55). All I can say about this phone is that if you just want a phone without all the other stuff then get this one. Its small, light, easy to use. The only problem I can see in the future is the back case (where you insert the batery) coming off. It is a bit lose.

Pure design, small but handy. General manufacturing quality is exceptional. A thing of beauty! Functionality is good; works fast, has the usual SonyEricsson menu structure which you like or not. Standby time is sufficient; depends largely on how good your network is. It's size makes you wonder how you could have put up with those big black things all that time. If you want GPRS and PDA-functions, stay clear from this one (though it has a nice calendar)

There are many interesting feature in the menus that Sony Ericsson didnt campaign it, so we just know after we try ourself. Very fashionable & makes everyone looks at you because it's small size & light weight!! But it has no GPRS feature and IR port. I like this phone... -Thank you-

I love this phone it is small,light and fashionable. The only problem is the battery life run out fast ....almost have to recharge the battery every night.....I with my friend find out the T600's light of the keypads is very bright , it is brighter than Nokia 8890 , if the light keeps turn on for a long time the battery will run out faster, we think this is the reason why people keep complain of the battery and the (short) talk time. The Phone meuns are improved ,the respond are faster than T39.

I love this phone so much specially it's size. How I wish I can compress all the gigantic features of my Siemens S45 into this T600. But I know it would be impossible. I carry my T600 just for fun and show-off. But I still rely much on my S45 because my life and main business files are there.
