I bought it 4 years ago. The only problem occured a year ago. Backlight is not working when slided. It must be the flexible cable. Unfortunately, there's no such spareparts produced. Quite disappointing.

this phone is by far the worst. its heavy. Ringtone Volume too low to hear. You cat hear voices if you are on the busy road. Camera works only in very bright light. at night its useless. Extremely slow mobile. it takes 15 sec to save a photo. Blutooth can only transfer only 350KB data. its extremely slow too. My opinion is dont buy this phone. I was a fool to belive in philips claims.

(Len Thank you so much for the kind info on using this phone as a webcam). People who're using Windows 98 can use it as a modem by 1st installing the Fisio GPRS Modem Driver. Its situated in the Cd's Addon's Inf folder. Then connect the phone, it'll be detected as a modem. Then use mobile phone tools. For WinXP, there's no other choice than a bluetooth/irda connector. Because the Fisio GPRS Modem driver is accepted no longer in the XP platform (except in the Safe Mood)

i've bought this phone after i read the opinions an i still like it!the head set workes just fine ,and mp3 quality is good,pictures are 2 mpx,but that depends of light !i dproped it several times and it still works,so i'm pleased with it!and the slide is one of the best!

do NOT buy this phone. it's a waste of money: irda and bluetooth transfers are limited to 350 kb, the headset doesn't work, the battery lasts for about two days and the camera doesn't take 2 mpixel photos.

Camera is less 1.3 mega pixel though it says 2 mega pixel. 1st thing is that i regret i bought this phone... i can`t even find anyone stupid enough to buy it... the music is not that loud!!!it is relly slow........ at every thing(sms,pictures,looking at a picture..)etc... This Phone is truly a beauty. With an IrDA adapter i use it as a gprs modem. The phone software works perfectfy with IrDA connection. Now i can check internet, send email & mms, organize tasks everything !!! I also found many addictive GAME for this phone. Of course you should ask for them now !!! ** One who asked about webcam: turn on your webcam option in phone and connect the data cable to pc. If you are using windows xp, then it will automatically detect it as usb webcam. Then you can capture your moments from windows movie maker or any video editing software. You can also use it while chatting... just configure it in your messenger.

i've solved the mp4 problem just convert the file using mobile phone tools you should at first convert them using another program as it takes a very long time to convert them directly but it is the only way you will have sound for mp4

This is by far the worst phone I've ever had: after clicking a key it will take almost a second until something appears on the display, while in a call if you receive a second call it will start ringing like crazy and will finally block (the only way to make it stop is taking the battery out of the phone), the battery is not one of the bests. This phone is trash... You can't send files to large over BTH, so if you want to send MP3's, forget it. PLUS, if you make photo's with its "2MP camera", you will have to wait around 20sec for it to be stored... BUT, if you want it for music and stuf like that, it's a verry cheap phone with lots of musical potential. 10x

I've found the solution. You'll need a Bluetooth or an Infrared connector instead of USB Cable Connector to use this phone as a GSM Modem in the pc

The info file that for the both syncronising & modem use is the 1 naming USB PC Sync device. This phone doesnt appear as a modem on hardware list unlike the others, it does on the USB devices' list. Then follow my previous instruction. The software asks to copy the phone's GPRS profile while establishing a connection. Otherwise you've to fill in the informations by yourself

I'm using Kingstone 1GB MMC on my phone currently & its working. I learnt from several websites that it supports upto 2GB extended memory. Even if 2GB MMC does not support, try mini-SD & I'm sure it wont be disappointing. Buy Kingstone as the phone suits it the most. For best performance buy Intel MMC cards. If I ever find it supporting 2GB of memory then I'll inform it in here

I tried the phone as a gsm modem to access internet in my pc. the phone shows all the icons active on its window. but then modem gives a message "modem releasing" and phone not detected. i think the prob comes from inf file configuration. If you can help with anything then let me know that. you can also say how you set up the internet connection. Lots expecting from you :-)

But the *.inf file provided with the installation CD is devoid of the manufacturer's name thats why I couldn't proceed with it's installation. The good thing about this phone is, it supports both SD & MMC of 2GB maximum & got the device inside the case which provides a great security. The camera is weak but in sufficient light it shoots better than any other 2MP camera. In mild light shoot photo at low-resolution (800x600) & the quality will be flawless. You dont need a card reader, if you're using WinXP just use the 'USB drive' instead of 'PC software' in the phone's Connectivity option & the pc will automatically detect it as an USB Mass Storage Device. You'll find your MMC/SD as a removable disc in My Computer

A few things about Philips 960. 1. Has a limit of 350kb for transfer. 2. Can not open image files that are bigger then 350. 3. Can not play stereo wav form audio file. 4. Can not play wav form audio file that is bigger then 350kb. 5. Can't install java files that are bigger then 350kb. 6. As it can't do any thing bigger then 350kb if you try to take photo in 1600x1200 res and 1280x1024 res it'll drop some pixels to keep the file size below 350kb. 7. Yes it can play MP3 and AAC files that is bigger then 350kb. It support 320kpbs MP3 file. And also have a better sound quality with provided headphone. 8. It only have wap browser can't brows xhtml or html. 9. When playing MP4 you only can see video, you'll not hear any sound. 10. It has a little range of java application. 11. Video camcorder requires light, lots of light. 12. Can take better quality snapshoot in Daylight. 13. Very low handset volume. Not 90cc. Worse then 70cc. 14. It has a built in bluetooth browser. You can use it to browse other handset that has bluetooth. 15. It dont have any stop watch. Trust me I am using this dumb set for a long time.

I had this phone for almost 1 year and i wasnt pleased with him Is very slow reacting to the menu or when pushing the buttons. The signal receiving is poor under nokia and SE The sound of the speaker is very poor and lost many calls because of it The headset and MP3 very poor qualityy with sound errors - try lo listen ATB or Ozone it's sounds like some abbused cats The camera of 2 MP is not great, comparable with a good 1.3 MP camera of a nokia and definitely under the camera of W810i The menu is simple. you don't have many options and no possibiliy to download something from the Philips site The battery life is good around 5-6 days without listening MP3,and 2 days listening 4 hours of MP3 compared with SE W810i battery it has no chance. i listened music at SE W810 for 4 hours tryng to depleting the 25% of batery and reset it, and i didn't succeed. The quality of the case is very poor and after 6 months looks like device used for 2 years I used a 512 MB card and opening it i had to wait around 15 second Anyway after 10 months the headset failed For me the experience with Philips was ended and i bought an SE W810i which is clearly better. I will never buy philips again

Have just bought it recently, a month old, and I think its an amazing set. So far only two major problems I have faced are: 1.) After pressing the "recieve" button it takes a while to connect to the caller. I mean "while" as in very slow. Worst is if its in "vibra-tone" mode, cause then the phone keeps vibrating for a while and then connects. 2.) A main problem for me is transferring big files to my current 128MB MMC card such as MP3 files (doesn't happen with my SD card however). In connectivity mode the PC or laptop won't recognize the MMC already inserted in the phone, and each time asks to "format" it. So what I have to do is take the card out, put in a card reader and then transfer files. Yeah a bit tough. Other than these two no other problems with this phone.

I have use this phone for almost a year now. The user interface is quite fast, but not that fast. At first, i thot it was slow, but when I bought the N6101, this one is really slow, it takes almost 2 sec to answer a call! The screen is great, pictures that i have taken with 800x600 are clear and sharp, even with 640x480. Video is not fantastic but good enough. All the functions and tools are good for me, MP3 player is great with the provided earphones though the speaker can be louder. Drawback of the phone, can't do anything when MP3 player is on and it will cut when a call comes in. Bluetooth is not very good, all lot of static, but when you place it stationary, it will be clear, like if you put it in the car kit holder. keypad is losing its sensitivity on some buttons, going to get it change before the warranty runs out. Best Philips phone I have used so far since the Genie. Cheers!

I've just tried 1 gb sd card. It works without any problems. But I could not find any headset for it.

I have this phone and it is good, not the best one though.It supports MMC cards up to 1GB (i tested TwinMos MMC 1GB) and works perfectly. Don`t know if works the same with SD cards.Pictures are great on high resolution, but on the video side it is not recommended because they are at low FPS and have big pixels. Battery goes up to 4 days (2-3 days with intense usage of mp3 player/camera/flash/talking/games).It is very solid and resistant after i dropped on the stairs and put it back together and it works fine like nothing happened. At this price you cant get anything better.

Dear friends, is there anyone who has become able to use GPRS through a Java Software installed in this Phone "Philips 960"? I've installed "Opera-Mini" & "Gmail Mobile Soft" But no way. I can't connect to the GPRS network. But the default browser of this phone acts as usual. I can use GPRS through it. Only one problem is here: whenever i try to check gmail account, it says "The Cookie settings of ur browser is turned off, Pls turn it on". But i don't know how can i turn this on. Moreover, pls give a way to use GPRS via a Java Software. What will be it's Http Profile, i don't know. I only know GPRS settings & it acts normally with the dafault browser. nope, you can't overcome the transfer limit. install games and anything else the way I said before... it stands for about 3 days with the mp3 player, just 1 day with the camera, normal use 4-5 days. you can record longer if you save media on the card ;)

The photos are 2 megapixels, not in the best quality, but the phone is already more than a year old. The screen is really beautiful, it can play videos and music is the best quality. I really recommand this phone to everyone. BUT, without a memorycard you can't enjoy all features good.

One small problem: it can't play gp3 with larger file size like 50Mb, anyway I satify with the mp3 & 3gp playback & of course the look is cool with metalic finish & excellent screen.

my phone isn't laggy either, probably the one who complaints about the slowness of the phone has its internal memory full. indeed only browsing the pictures is slow, but browsing the phone book isn't slow at all. i am using the phone for 4 months now and i like it better all the time. sometimes it stucks, but that happens with all phones which are used intensively, just restart and back to normal. pro's: excellent camera, clear mp3 player, light and small but screen big enough, very easy to connect the sd-card to a computer and exchange pictures, vidoe's, mp3 songs, notes etc. Cute, slider ok. Contra's: short sms tone ( someone wrote that it can be set longer, but i did not get yet how ), bit too soft sound from ringer, you have to pick out a loud ringtone. somewhat stiff keypad.

The phone is by no means laggy when using the menu, only the photo management is somehow slow. Mine never froze in 4 month (by the way, it is the most stable phone I had). The sms tone can be changed with any tone from the own memory or card, even a full mp3 song, just be more keen in expl;oring the posibilities! To paste information on the card is just a drag with the mouse operation. Please try to be less superficial before posting an opinion....It is not the best phone ever, but it has a very good price-quality ratio

If ur first preference is video quality, pls don't buy this phone, go for Nokia 6280. This phone superb for quality still photos and as a mini music player. But the display is too small and it can't play high quality MP4 videos smoothly.

When you go to usb features and have no sd card inserted, you have to choose the third option first and then open the soft in your pc. Go to multimedia bla bla and choose explorer, then simply drag your photos with the mouse to the folder you choose. Good luck

hi robbie, thanks for your guide. when i select usb drive under usb feature in the phone, the computer will show that it has detected a removable disc. however, when i click on the removable disc, the computer will show 'pls insert a disc into F drive'. It seems like the phone acts like a disc drive and since I do not have an SD card it can't detect anything even though all i want is to download the pic stored in my phone's memory. With bluetooth running, and poor radio signals within my workplace's building, the 960 could manage 4 days of normal usage. Pros: Good camera (especially in bright daylight), SD + MMC slot, good MP3 playback, slider mechanism is top class (better than Samsung), Webcam and USB drive functionality. Cons: Lousy Video, no FM radio, no USB charging, no speakerphone function, soft ringtone volume.

i say is an exlelent phone u get for that amount of money (i got mine, in Romania, for about 150 euro)... it does exactly what a 300-350 euro phone can do (see nokia 6270). it has 2Mpixels camera, mp3 player and other cool stuff. that's right: it is kind of slow and yes :there are some problems with the camera(see the review before mine) but hey nothing is perfect. if u want to rotate the photo u can do it with ur pc. i got mine with data cable, 128MB sd card, headset=handsfree, cd with it's software and the most important thing that got my attention : 2 years waranty. and one more thing: this phone uses for memory SD/MMC card (no micro-sd or mini-sd). sd are the cheapest cards :P

There is NO SPEAKERPHONE in this phone. Period. I bought it at very low price - about 250usd and this is exactly what you get. The phone is VERY SLOW when you need to access the phonebook or EXTREMELY SLOW when you are searching a name in the phonebook. You can view photos in full screen ONLY IN SLIDESHOW. A single photo taken at max or premax resolution cannot be rotated becos of "file size too large"!!!! Amazing. I really want to meet the guy from philips who made this phone. A real IMBECIL. Is a petty because the phone could be a very good phone but is nearly a piece of sh.t.

this phone has a speaker phone. however it is not that loud, but very well when in a quiet place. it is designed to use your mp3 player with either the inclued stereo headset or with an optional bluetooth headset. quality of sound through included headset really clear and good.

If there is nothing in the phone memory, than you have probably selected the sd card as the default memory. In this situation you do not have to activate the bvrp software, just plug the usb, go to connections, usb, usb drive. The card is automatically read and you can just copy-paste the photos in your computer. Pay also attention to the fact that the photos look really good only when made at full resolution. Good luck, it is a good and honestly priced phone

I just received this phone Monday, May 1 and have been playing with it all day today. I have to say it's great for the features it contains. The mp3 playback is awesome, albeit some of my songs play extremely low, but good nonetheless. There's still that 350k size limitation that I can't seem to get around. Is that limited to only phone memory? I haven't tried it with an SD/MMC card yet. The camera is good, sharpy and crispy. The only bad thing about this phone is that there's a lag whenever you text and the animated gif viewing is not as smooth as it should be. So for those who want to run an animated background, be prepared for viewing it frame by frame. Besides that, this phone is awesome Would recommend it to anyone.

I dumped my w550i in favor of this phone (I've had 3 replacements due to software issues) and i must say it's a worthy replacement...it may not have the surround feature but what good is it if your music tracks just vanish into thin air? Only beef with this little monster? Slow texting!!!

Plug your USB cable, go to connections, usb features, usb drive, and than just copy-paste the photos in the computer. In case you do not have selected the card as the storage location you have to use the software which came along with your phone, but in this case select pc software instead of usb drive and then open the 'phone tools', go to multimedia, etc

Flexible and intuitive menu, very stable, somehow slow in pictures management (acceptable though), good camera in strong light, extremely good voice quality even at max. volume, good sound for mp3 with headphones, perfect communication with the computer (even as storage device), screen more than ok (not the very best either), not yet managed to open a jar file (please help). Bluetooth and IR limitation frustrating, but I suppose it comes from copyright limitations concerning music circulation. Battery about 4 days with intensive use. Quality design and incredible price quality ratio (at least in Romania, where it costs about 250USD). Wold have preferred it in white or antracite, but not yet available...

I find this phone really useful. My mates tell me it rocks, it's light weight got instant messaging, can use camera as webcam on yahoo, got inflight system, photo editor and other fun stuff. Also supports mp3, mp4 and 2mp camera with flash, got memory card.Has got lots and lotst of useful software but is not a smartphone. No brainner if you want to get w810 or w900 or this phone then get the philips 960. Compared to the rest this is the i pod nano.

- You can download the software from Philips website if you do not have the CD. After installing the drivers that come with the software, it is plug-and-play to activate the webcam. - No hack available to remove bluetooth limitation. At least not to my knowledge. - If cannot transfer photos and video via multimedia studio, connect it as a USB drive instead. - No other themes available for the phone. At least not to my knowledge. You can make your own animated GIFs for use as wallpaper.

1) Java support is OK. Surf to to check out tons of free java applications, games, and utilities on your PC b4 downloading and installing via WAP. Not all Java midlets can be installed tho. Just look out for Java midlets that are designed for all phones. 2) To use the phone as USB drive, the software that comes with phone must to be installed first. (The SD card must also be in the phone already.)After that, connect the phone to the PC, navigate to Connectivity->USB Features->USB Drive. 3) Don't think MP3 can be downloaded via WAP; but can transfer via PC once it is connected as a USB drive.

I got this Philips 960, and this is the first time I used a Philip phone. I was attracted by the slider design & the 2 MEGA pixel camera. Pros: - Lovely screen - Easy to use menu interface - Interesting icons menu - Long battery life - Infrared and bluetooth implementation - MP3 player (no background playing) Cons: - Construction of the slider is bit loose when closed (unlike Siemens SL75, SL65 which is very tight when closed). - Camera so so output but look really nice on the screen - MP3 sound from the speaker is bit soft - No speaker function during conversation - SMS tone only last for about 3 secs (don't you think is short) I don't regret buying this phone cos suit my purpose. Lovely slider from Philips.

Hope you meant "install" rather than "copied". If not, do re-install and follow the user guide in the CD. Do read the the entire user guide first (its a short guide anyway).There is a typo error in the guide (I hope), i.e. there is no "Setup.exe " in the CD but rather "Install.exe". So the guide should read "D:Install". Alternatively, browse the CD from Windows Explorer and double-click on "Install.exe" to run it. Follow the instructions from there. Good luck.

10Mb User Memory means that you can only use 10Mb out of the 32Mb to store stuff like photos, videos, voice recordings, notes, etc..i.e. anything that you create. The remaining memory is used by the phone software to run the phone. That's why having an external memory card is important. It lets you store more of those stuff. Unfortunately, for this phone, it doesn't allow you to redirect the storage for notes, appointments, tasks, call history, java software, etc to the external memory. It only allows videos, photos and sounds to be redirected to the external memory. Since you can use the memory card as a USB drive, you can store anything in it through the PC; but the phone will not be able to read it unless its software supports that file format. This is why there is limitations to number of appointments, phone numbers, notes that can be created in the phone. This is the same for all phones, not only Philips. So check out the memory that can be used by user when buying a phone.

Am not an audiophile but I can say its sharp and crispy coming from built in speaker. Not as loud compared to other phones (example K750i), but good enough. If want quality, better listen via the handsfree earpiece. If has acessory to connect to external speaker, believe will be good. By the way, don't have equalizer. Have not tested using bluetooth headset, so cannot comment. Forgot to add: - Can create many playlists. Think its stored in the handphone memory. If thats the case, will affect shared memory. - Can set playback like shuffling and repeat. - Some MP3 cannot be played, not sure why. Has got to do with coding of the file. A way around is to re-code it. Hope the above answers your question.

- Very good phone overall. Has more features than almost all phones. May lose out on quality of camera pictures especially those taken under not so bright lighting. Quality is above average. Take a look at samples uploaded at - Video is 30 frames per second. It makes playback smoother but not necessarily clearer. - No autofocus and macro camera mode. - Camera can be used as webcam when chatting using Yahoo Messenger. Think other chat software can also use the camera as webcam. - Can set many different shortcuts, using navigation buttons, voice commands and number buttons. - MP3 playback is good when using earphone. - Can set default storage to memory card for picture and video, and voice recording. Video capture can be unlimited, as long as memory card space allows, but maximum guaranteed memory card access is 512Mb altho some people have used 1Gb before. - Voice recording is limited to 3.32 min per recording. No limit to number of times if default saving to memory card. - Cannot listen to mp3 and do other things at the same time. - Backlight can be set to stay on up to 1 minute. Shortest time is 15 sec. - Has flight mode, meaning can make the phone stop scanning for call signals when on a plane. Allows to play games and do other things besides calling and sending msgs. - Call quality and reception ok. Depends on location and service provider. - Lets you save sms that is typed half-way so that you can continue. Also saves the sms or mms when sending fails. - Multiple subfolders can be created in internal and external memory to let you organise your files. - WAP browser not that great but if used only occassionally is good enough. Not a smartphone anyway. - Reading of memory card can be slow when there are alot of pictures, videos, mp3s and other files. - Can use memory card to store notes prepared and transfered from PC. Notes prepared in the phone is limited to 10 and can only contain up to 50 characters. - Does not automatically clear expired appointments set in phone and there is a limit of 50 only. Have to delete manually. - Have 2 types of alarms; one time only, and repeat for each day of the week that can be selected. - Has option to set once, daily, weekly, monthly and annually for schedules but only works for once. Think Philips missed this bug. - Can download Java applications and games to phone but will reduce shared phone memory. - Good battery life, average about 3-4 days with normal calls, camera use and game play. - 350K file transfer limitation if cut and paste between memory card to phone memory. - A little slow in response, especially when pressing key to open phonebook, and pressing the first few characters to search a name. The 1st character tend not to appear. - Sensitive with Kingston memory card but OK with Sandisk. - Memory card can be accessed as USB drive when connected to PC using USB cable. - Short SMS alert ringtone. - Battery charging is about 2 hours after the 1st time. There you go. The real Philips 960. Its good enough for me. Is it a perfect phone? Of course not. I have reviewed most phones and almost all that I have read got some form of problem that irritates the owner.

This is a very good phone with all the features that you need short of radio and 3G which may not be necessary at this point in time. In other words, very good value for money. Pros: Form factor, light and small. Cool when sliding to answer call. Fits nicely and grips well in hand. Acceptable 2Mp camera tho may not match some cameras of other brands. Smooth video playback. Camera can be used as webcam. Supports SD/MMC that double up as thumb-drive. MP3 plyback is good. Cons: Response may seem slow for some people. There are problems with my phone where MMS cannot be sent at times. The problem is solved by switching off and on altho not practical. My phone also has problems with recognizing the SD/MMC and needs to be taken out and put back in. Think the above 2 problems can be resolved by the service centre. Overall, very good all rounder. Some of you may ask if the phone is durable, like will it still work when you drop it...well, I won't try and you will want to make sure that you take good care of a device like that. They don't make things to last nowadays.

not 64 ringtomes but 64 channels polyphonic. anyway there are more ringtones available in the software provided. you can change length of video to unlimited when in the video mode

ruud i've used SE k750i few months before switching to SE K600i & N70. it was a superb phone. very stable in all aspect and handy cuz it's smaller than N70. Price is cheaper than Nokia's 2MP phones. Effective bluetooth orientation. Most of all superb stereo quality for MP3. I would prefer going after the K750i than Philips 960. If only the K750i would support UMTS for 3G i wouldn't have to switch it to K600i & Nokia N70.

Rudd, I dont think the problems u hv are "problems" at all. The gap will be there as it is a slider phone as someone pointed out earlier. secondly speed is a very subjective thing. i dont feel my keypad is slow though changing to camera mode is a bit slow. overall it is still a good phone and an equally spec'd phone from another brand will cost at least a few hundreds more. only silver is available for now.

The 30 days battery life are only Philips Xenium line, as they mention in their website. IrDA, I got no problem, tested with my notebook (IBM Thinkpad), with other phone brand, no issue. First thing I did, as stated on the USB cable label, I install the software first before I tried anything. Works fine for me, transfer file, etc. But off course usb is faster. SMS ing, it is ok for me. I think it depends on what u compare with. again ur expectation. Once m use to it....i can do sms very fast. phone response also fast. My unit is just fine, as when i bought i asked the shop (bluetooh connection) to lemme choose. They lemme chose aomong four units that time. yes, there are some that looks like it's not fit very well between the gap. So I chose the best one for me. Hey again, all depends on our expectation, this is good enough valued for money. My comments, all instruction are in the user manual. unless we are testing/trying to do something outside/unusuall thing that are not stated in there. eg. It say best and tested with 512MB SD Card. I tested and using 1GB, off course of consequences of a bit slow response accessing it. I also tested, putting multiple sub folder of the mp3 songs. so i can group my songs as per folder. It works fine. Currently I have about 700mb of data. consist of 500mb mp3, the rest are ringtones, pictures, video,etc.... Have fun......

Hi All, as i posted comments when i just got the phone earlier. It is a good and value for money phone. It is a matter of our expectation. I don't face all those problems at all, connection(usb/ir/btooth),sms, camera (pict/video),MP3,etc all working find for me. As mentioned, I put in 1GB SDCard, it works find, off course slightly slower than the 512MB. I even sync my phone with Lotus Notes. I tested the Mobile Phone tools, it is a cool and powerful software. The only lacking that I face is that, it won't sync all the Lotus Note version. It only support version 6 of L Notes. I still think this is a good buy, with all the features you get.

even with mp3 it is also very short. as for messaging just a small problem as we press any key the top right corner will show the letters & numbers just select the correct one. camera wise is good for me i find no problem for that.

u are right. bluetooth sending is limited to 350k only. the phone would not recognise any filed larger that this size in the sd card. well i guess this is a real bad side of this phone. other than this, 960 is a phone value for money.

I just got the phone on the 31st Dec. Bluetooth Innovation. I put 1GB SD. It works fine. A bit slow compare to if I put 512MB SD. I use to use SE P800. Still have it. Wanna change for a while. tired of PDA phone. Philips 960 is quite impressive. The SD file structur also support multiple sub folder. Good thing it can sync with Lotus also not only with MS-Outlook. Mobile Phone Tools, quite cool. I can convert/produce all the media, sond video, etc. Life online mode with my notebook. I can do all the task of the phone, sms, call, etc using the software. Two negative points are that, it cannot do multi tasking, e.g mp3 listening while u r sms-ing. And Phone book capacity only 500 contacts in the phone memory. Well hv to live with it though, it's a phone NOT a PDA. The three connection device (irda,usb,bluetooth) share the same port i guess. have to use one at the time. Overall I am satisfied, it's valued for money, with all the features loaded. BTW, the camera result of 2 MB pixels also very good.

Features on paper wise its real good, but haven't really got 2 feel n touch it. Was really interested in this phone more than the W800i or W550i. Like the others here in Malaysia, was interested with the price & the features but was really disappointed being unable to find at any handphone shops other than the distributor. Tried to call the service center which was no help. Dun even know what specs it has. Gave me a number to a guy in Philips which was not around all the time. Conclusion? Service sucks! NO SERVICE AT ALL! N decided to buy W550i.Called the service center, very helpful eventhough i can't upgrade the firmware yet. Help me learn something more about the phone. So, forget bout this phone in Malaysia.

The phone support up to 512MB MMC/SD card but i believe it can go to 1GB. Hot-changeable but need to remove cover first. Colour is there in the info 3 choices. Upgrade firmware? I'm not sure for this. The official distributor is ORA Telecommunications & SAMART malaysia. Can find a Philips distributor at Menara Axis. Limitation to Memory card is unknown. But i read that you can only copy up to 350KB files from memory card to internal memory

The thing about Philips mobile phones is that they are not very popular in Malaysia so you might want to evaluate the support and service availability. Go visit one of the biggest mobile phone centres in Sungai Wang Plaza or Low Yat Plaza and ask around. In fact the technical experts at the mobile phone repair shops don't carry the spare parts unless you are talking about Nokia, Sony Ericsson. Even Alcatel mobile phone spare parts are difficult to find.

This phone is great! It is cheap and good! Too bad it didn't include an FM Radio function. It was nice of Philips to include a flash to the camera. I also like the slider thingy but after observing it, I didn't quite like the design of the phone because the edges are rounded. I hope that Philip can include FM Radio on the next phone and also an OS like Symbian. If Philips get to do so, it will definitely beat those giant mobile phone markets with its competitive price. Keep up the good work Philips!

ginz it is true 'bout the phones using philips parts, though the supplier is not the mobile phone division. philips supplies a lot of the chips and lcd screens to the mobile phone makers. the former cannot be seen unless you really tear the phone apart and the latter doesn't have the philips logo cos since it is incorporated into the customer's hardware. here's another announcement showing philips semiconductors again leading the way for the next generation mobile technology

To anniyan: All the chips in the samsung D500, D600 and so on are provided by Philips (semiconductors). Also the SonyEricsson P910/SE Z800 are powered by Philips chips. So many of todays hottest phones are using Philips chips,the only thing Samsung and SE do is creating software and a cool package, the real hardware is designed by Philips ;)

I agree too, that radio is not that important when consider buying your new mobile phone. Philips 960 has got all the necessary features. I think reliability is much more important, which is also a bonus feature for Philips. So I myself is also waiting for 960 as well :)

to zgodly, unfortunately the display of the K750 is a measly 176x220 and the size of the screen is too small which is just not cutting it. otherwise, i would have bought the K750 already. why couldnt the K750 have a 240x320 display to go along with its 2.0 megapixel camera like the S700 which had a camera of only 1.3 megapixels though a ccd one? and why couldnt the K750 have a ccd camera? oops, pardon me for digressing. hope the 960 spots a ccd camera. fat chance though, i think.

it is about time philips came up with a phone with features that can match the top phones. now, if only they would put the features of this phone on a candy bar phone. the keypad of slider phones have never appealed to me. does anyone know if the camera on this is a cmos or ccd? if ccd, i would be able to turn a blind eye to it being a slider.

Rumours have mentioned different version about its camera and OS. Maybe not a 2M Pixel camera, and perhaps has Linux OS. But it's gonna be a good and competitive phone. I'm waiting for it, yeap!
