Philips Diga - User Reviews

  • mine too !

  • It always was running !

  • My first mobile phone! Loved it!

  • looks like bosch com 207.

  • That could catch network anywhere. We used to call it a nutcracker, a spatula or a flykiller then. Good old days.....

  • My First mobile phone set ever........it has the hardest body ever.......I even once used it to hummer in a pin into my school bench

  • First phone as well back in 1998 on the Eircell (now Vodafone) network. First thing I did was take off that hideous slide. Couldn't use SMS as it was a Bill Pay feature and I was Pre-pay or Ready To Go as it was called. Cost me IR£129, which would be 169 now. Mobiles were very expensive back then.

  • it was really a superb one, my 1st mobile in 1998, really miss it

  • My first mobile phone ever :-)

  • Just browsing back through the good old days of proper mobile phones..This was my first mobile and brilliant mobile it was in 1998..Todays boring souless slab full touch type mobiles i hate..I cant wait till clamshells return with D-Pad for precision movement and real send/end buttons. Bring back high end button phones. :-)

  • My first ever phone back in 1999, and i was so proud i always had it on display attached to my belt.

  • it was the first mobile set of my life i was so excited

  • ohmiigawd i love this phone so much, i was so excited when i realised my mum had bought it me this christmas. its little buttons are so soft and rubbery, i get perfect grip for when im teletexting all my favourite pals. i love how its in tw-tone colour, its so cute! i love my new interchangable Barbie covers than came free with it. The functions are AMAZING and i can attach a clip on the side and attach it to my trousers so i don't loose it... THIS PHONE IS TO DIE FOR. also, i have a massive ariel so i can send texts quicker, and dial out quicker because my phone is closer to the sky than everyone elses. MUST BUY!!

  • Hi Charger to this phone is fit from nokia. I talk about this small, tiny charger adapter newest model, not from nokia 3310, but some like Nokia N71 etc..

  • I still have mine too. My very first Cellulaar Phone!! As far as my memory goes, it still worked when I replaced it, but the battery went down the tubes. Unfortunately the charger is missing. Does anybody know what the charger specs are - Voltage, amps etc.? Maybe I can blow some life into this old workhorse just for fun. (The kids will die of embarrassment if I should whip this one out when their friends are visiting!!!)

  • i sent mine in for the tsunami appeall it was my first fone in 1998..memories,,memories

  • It was my first cell phone 10 years ago...

  • the ultimate mobile divice which i used 10 year back, no problem mobile

  • the ultimate mobile divice which i used 10 year back, no problem mobile

  • I used it 10 years back. I really loved it though now it is tooooo much outdated. Now i have another with more optins, but really i am still in love with that 1st phone of mine..

  • My first mobile phone, bought in 1999. Sat on a hilltop, rang somewhere 300 miles away and laughed out loud with pleasure! Neat, solid, felt great in the hand and worked perfectly, a great friend. Still have it tucked away in a drawer.

  • Had one, loved it. Don't now if it is still working. Send it to Africa and hope that the present owner still enjoyes it. Mind you it was still in good quality when i did.

  • it was a great phone, I bought one in 2000, 3 years after his release. He served me 4 years and he did a hell of a job...I'm not kiddin.I still have him , but it's not working, I'm keeping just because he was a small part in a generation when mobile phones were just phones not stupid gadgets like now days.

  • My first ever mobile phone, which I still think about with fondness. It did what it said on the tin - phoned and texted. Never crashed or locked up like a modern phone - was an absolute brick (in the best way possible) Still have it in a box somewhere and still remember its phone number! Yeah, I know I'm sad!

  • My very first cell phone. I was just 12 years old when i got this phone (1998), really loved this phone, simple yet effective, used it for just over 4 years, never had a problem with it, still have it boxed up somewhere. 10/10

  • Also my first world wonder.. okey not that bad

  • my first cell phone...i remember my first moments of owning this cell phone, with happiness, smile and nostalgy... unforgetable moments...nothing else...thanks a lot...

  • It's trully the very first definition of a moblie, only messaging and calling, not even a game is there.I think with all the new technology coming in few years it's gonna earn a spot in some museums in developed countries

  • OK, I got this phone as a gift for applying for a Barclaycard when I was a University Student. My friend applied for one too & she told me not to register it immediately as Barclaycard send you out a 2nd one! So this is what we both did. I gave one to my son and kept one for myself. It was on BT Cellnet (they were later taken over by 02) on a very expensive tariff called "Easylife" which worked out at about 50p per minute to make a call to any UK network or UK landline. When you got it via Barclaycard, you could only top up with your Barclaycard at a minimum of 20 a time, vouchers from the shops would not work, even proper 'easylife' vouchers. Let's face it, it was definitely a "brick" but I was quite proud that I actually had a mobile! This was an expensive phone to run and the top-ups were hefty. Nowadays I'm with the Virgin Mobile network and top-ups on Pay As You Go are from as little as 5.

  • My first phone, gave it to my parents when I got a new one. After many years of service it earned a spot on a toilet where it's been nailed on the wall!:D

  • my second fhone, i dont noo anything more about it. It was for that time very simple with less Features.

  • What a sad and nasty stunt for o2 to pull on people! My gran uses one of these phones as its the only one she finds easy to use, and its on o2. I work in the mobile retail industry and all i can say is that this is yet another way of o2 upgrading (swiping money)!

  • Now that the DIGA phones cannot be used in UK, what is the best way for the environment of disposing of them? ? Will the battery chargers be of any use for any other device?

  • This Phone will stop working on the 30th of may 2006,so thats very soon! Iv'e been advised that you can go to an O2 shop and find out if you are entitled to an upgrade. So dont be suprised when it doesnt work any more,i hope thats been a help to you.I own one of these mobiles and overall its a bit of a bric and its very old fashioned. If all you want is a device which allows you to communicate with someone far away then this phone is perfect for you!

  • I bought my Philips diga second hand in 1997 and i'm still using it! The phone has been used continously night and day since then! I have two batteries, one is now loosing power but the other is still going strong.Any one better?

  • This is a classic, if you have ever had one of these fall out of your pocket under the wheels of a moving taxi and still work you will know what i am talking about.

  • this was my first phone when i was 12, i was soooo cool because i had a mobile phone before everyone else. the aeriel broke off it eventually and it fell apart. legendary phone tho. quality.

  • My first phone when i was about 13, everyone had one they where good at the time but very big

  • my first ever phone, and i believe one of the first pay as you go phones in the uk on cellnet... i didnt have the yellow attachment...it was big, bold and i loved it...

  • This was my first phone ever! got it in 2001 off my nan for my 11th birthday brand new as she didnt use it...but its a crappy phone! its big I took it to school a couple of times and everyone hated it so a month after I upgraded to nokia 5110 and 5110s r still the best. I just bought one off ebay as a backup incase my 3200 died.

  • My mum has only just swapped this phone for a nokia 3410, and she still insists there is nothing up with it!!! it's so old that the sim card looks more like a credit card, and amazingly it still works, apart from the txting function

  • I salute you phillips!! This phone is the very pinnacle of modern phone technology, the bluetooth is amazing and the 2 hour video recording is vintage, well done you guys

  • I agree with Mark on this matter, this phone has simply changed my life!! With its 2 hour video recording and bluetooth technology i can't see why everyone shudn't own this mobile. And at 9.99 its a complete bargain!! I salute you Phillips

  • This phone is th cornerstone of the modern mobile phone world today, with its hi tech 3g technology and true tones this beats the the d500 any day, well done phillips, you should win the noble peace prize!

  • I've bought a real philips DIGA in the year 1999 an I'm still using it, it's the best phone I've ever seen and I hope to use it for years to come.

  • I am looking for a manual for a diga mobile phone, I got it in about 1997

  • I bought it early 98, 'cause I wanted just a cheapo mobile and I had heard some good words about its receiver. Later I felt in love with it. Has better durability even of models from the tough phone category. Has the best receiver I ever seen in any phone up today. Keeps the reception even in basment of a hospital, where other phones have no signal at all. Survived from falls from buidling, three floors high. Still works with the original battery. Has better voice quality of other brands/models of its era. And was the cheapest model. I've never regret for my choice to buy it.

  • I bought one of these when it first came out, it wasn't top of the range then really but it works well and has superb reception and quality which ive never seen since. I bought a Savvy DB and only kept it for 6 months because this phone was so much better. Well worth it!

  • It think i'm gay. what's the best for for a gay boy like me?

  • I can get this phone anywhere, If you know anyone who will swap it for a Nokia 3510i I would be very greatful. I also like any phone made fisher price as i'm as simple as they come!

  • Dear Sirs, We have one good customer in India for Philips Diga model, if you have any stocks for this model, he can buy in big qtty, subject your prices should be cheaper ,because old model so we can sell in cheap price too. Please comments soon. Thanks/regards/ Lekhraj Sangtani.

  • Wow!!! I'm in love, I've gotta get myself one of these!!!!

  • How can i download the user manual for DIGA mobile phone. is not displaying

  • I know that two of these phones had their screens go after about a year and a half. Poor quality

  • I had this phone for a while, it wasn't very good really. Very basic, and wasn't very strong, one drop on a carpetted floor would break it.

  • I can not find the manual in Russian (or English) for the telephone TWIST (GIGA). If for you have, I appeal ask to send on my address. Best regards

  • Now this phone looks ugly, but . . .remember the time, when they appeared. I think it's classic and in ninenties it was quiet good phone...
