Philips Xenium 9@9e - User Reviews

  • I SENT THIS PHONE FLYING OUT THE WINDOW! And here's why. Forget about texting on this phone, in case u are somehow immune to high blood pressure. Interface, menu organization, and personalized profile settings are seriously lacking. If you'd like to spend 3 years going through menus just to save you work hours then this is the ideal phone for you. Maybe I haven't figured out the appropriate shortcuts, but then again, maybe they DON'T EXIST! All in all, this phone was designed by a complete windbag desperate to impress corporates with money in their pockets, but no sense upstairs. Oh wait...there is 1 good thing...the battery will last you the 3 years you need to run through the menus to complete the most simple task. I charge it once every 2 weeks.

  • Does this phone have LED coloured lights that flashes when a call comes in? Kinda mesmerized by these nice colourful lights that always only appear in old Samsung phones....

  • Nu are blitz. No flash for camera.

  • Been using this for a little over a year now. Battery life is good and can last me for approximately over a week before charging again. SMS is truly a disadvantage on this phone. Very very slow text recognition and some functions are ill positioned in the keys. Example: Imagine you can turn off dictionary so every time you have to disable it. Next for you to code "0" you have to go to the function change form letter to numbers. Absolutely ridiculous. Camera performance probably is good during the time it was released but dont expect for quality that you can show off. Artificial light shooting usually results to grainy image. Call quality is average and nothing really to rave about. This thing is just a back-up phone for me now. Seldom used due to flaws mentioned.

  • i have uset this phone for 3 motnhs.. its too bad.. ufb screen, size..

  • I have the phone about 8 months and it is true that the sms fuction, well... sucks. What do you want when you're going to send an sms? 1 (ONE) button with "new sms" and with this one the shortest way to begin writing an sms is to push 5 buttons.(not counting search contact) I have to say I want to write an sms 2 times, choose between -new sms-last sms-template-. And the textinput is slow! It could have been a superphone but sms...

  • I have this phone. It is for dogs only...

  • I've used it for almost one and half year. And i like battery life, but when it come to messaging surely like hell! Very very very slow processor! and typing response is just hell on earth! Hoping Philips will release this kind of phone with better speed and better messaging, plus bluetooth, umts, video recording 3gp and mp4, 3.15 mp, quadband, better screen (256k is reasonable), mp3 player, radio. For you people out there, i recomend this phone for bussiness purpose. The battery life is just one of a kind.

  • Quite a nice phone but lacks the facility to record videos. Good fone

  • And what about the difficulties with SMS writing? I heard that this phone is not recommended for those, who write lots of messages.

  • So far most men here complain about features, that are not the aim of this phone. This is a fine speaking device. Used shiny samsung before and tired of its' constant breakdowns during the middle of speech. No better PHONEs than xenium. If you need games and stuff consider a smartphone instead.

  • Why cant i use MP3s as my ringtone? It only lets me record up to 5secs of it, otherwise it says the file is to big. And where is the flash for the camera?!

  • please teach me how to change the language to hebrew from english

  • Sorry I talked about 9@9a

  • I have bought this phone. 20 min talk every day during a week and accumulator dischargeв fully. May be it rejected?

  • wonderfull but I don't understand tu use java games

  • For SMS it's very Buzy

  • Very good phone!!! I love the battery!!! There are some disadvantages however I will buy one. Used to use xenuim before and I love it

  • I heard Philips has bad stories related to it abilities to manage messages/SMS ( like writing, moving, deleting). Are the stories true? thx

  • Strange to see LED configurable, but not the external display, which shuts down a few seconds after the flip is closed... Strange not to see bluetooth, but only infrared. Also I failed to install Jimm (ICQ-like midlet). It said "not enough memory" while compiling.

  • I dumped mine after a week. Why? SMS defaults to T9 "predictive input" - it's absolute rubbish. Business users haven't got the time to fiddle around setting SMS to text input every time they want to send a message.

  • can it record videos???

  • Does the external display show caller ID as well? Also, is it very heavy?

  • bout the call recording feature: does the phone give any beeping sounds when you record the conversation during a call? i also heard the sms feature is rather horrible. how easy is it to manage sms: how big is the sms storage in the phone, how easy is managing/synchronizing with a pc. thanks.

  • the new philips xelium is very fantastic in it's design although the main features are not as good and better as other phone, but i consider this this phone as business phone

  • does it play mp3? if not i will not buy it!

  • This is one of the phones that I'm planning to get as its only RM899 ringgit in Malaysia. What I would like to know from the current phone owners is that for the infrared module function of this phone; how good is the version? Is it a v1.0 or v2.0 (meaning that when interacting with other phones, it can transfer music, picture files from other phones say SE series)?

  • Hello owners-beside long standby what about others like sound, photo, display etc as compared to other equivalent known brands such as Nokia or samsung.Notice display not so clear when in open sunlight. Appreciate your comment.

  • The entire Xenium line is Legend. Outstanding business phones right from the beginning. This is just more icing on the Xenium cake.

  • Best Phone I have ever use.. outstanding stand by... almost a month.. without charging..!!

  • Thinking of buying as attracted by the long standby. But Philips not that popular.Anybody has own one and appreciate giving pros and cons. Thank you

  • a very good looking mobile with an intelligent design

  • No difference between e and i. Both are the same except the cosmetic. Concerning WAP, both have WAP1.2.1 which is perfect for the good embedded games.

  • guys look at the size of the battery 1100 mah tats lot of backup for a clamshell mobile

  • Just curios the phone stanby time is 850hrs! Has anybody tested or vouched this?

  • E has WAP 1.2.1 and I has WAP 2.0

  • does this phone have MP3 player?

  • what is the diferrence between Philips Xenium 9@9e and Philips Xenium 9@9i?

  • obviously for mp3 ringtones??? think about it!

  • This is trully a phone. Yes, I mean phone that does what mobile phone is intented to: Making and receiving calls! 1.3 mp camera, mp3 and other functions are just an adding and do not cause this phone to be overpriced( therefore I don't care about the quality of MP3 or Camera on this phone). In addition 600-800 standby time is what it must be on every cellular phone brand today, not just on Philips. ANYWAY: As a phone 9@9e desreves definitely an A+!

  • mp3??? what you will do with our mp3 and 20MB storage only...

  • may i know wherther this phone support mp3? because i read up some magz n some say yes n some say no. thanks.

  • With Mobile Phone Tools, the inbox PC SW, you can select very easily a part of your favourite MP3 song and send it to your mobile phone. That's a very great and easy tool which allow you to make your own ringers.... Cooooooooooooooool

  • very bad quality of photos.

  • its a good design indeed, but can anyone tell me the quality of the picture from its camera?in computer screen, not in phone screen. which one better?cx75 or 9@9e?

  • sorry..i forgot to tell in china(the first place release this phone) says it only has 720hours stand-by time..it has getting less.maybe becoz of MP3 ringtone?..i dont know.but i think 720 hours is still great for me.lol

  • the only thing i think 9@9e should have is "why can not use that flash as a flashlight?" I really like that "flashlight" on MOTO E398 when i walk in darkness..

  • good news!guys! this phone-9@9e was released in china already.its price is 2780RMB.around $350. and it has a little bit different as they told us on this websit.THIS PHONE SUPPORTS MP3、MIDI、SP-MIDI、AMR as ringtone.! sure i am going to buy one if it comes out in canada..

  • Yes its right! 850 (!!) hours stand bye.

  • There is no diffrence between the 9@9i & 9@9e except that the Xenium 9@9e has a better touch and feel as it has a leather back. The fron panel is in gloss black. looks very executive and for the macho man! By the way it is not that Philips does not have LCD - TFT rights its because its a XEnium (safe battery) and TFT consumes a lot of battery, there are other models with TFT screen for Philips. Hope this clarifies!

  • still can not use mp3 as ringtones?. but i saw we can use mp3 as 9@9e's ringtones on other websit..anyone tells me the tureth?thx..others about this cell phone is ideal for me..

  • 850 hour battery life is that rite

  • UFB - it is almost the same like TFT. If you like TFT, you will like UFB too. Philips uses UFB , because has no license for TFT...maz be

  • what the difference between 9@9e and 9@9i???thank you

  • Ultra fine and bright.

  • Ultra Fine Bright (UFB) screen creates a brighter display while consuming less battery power

  • What kind of a display is UFB? I have never heard of it. I know CSTN, TFT, OLED but UFB? Please explain to me...

  • i think that it needs to have blue-tooth technology.

  • Lack of memory? Big deal! No need for memory card slot here, since it is only 1.3 mp camera! Grow up! 1.3 mp is perfect for photo call and storing few photos in your phone ( on phone screen 1.3 mp photos look perfect!). Main aspect of this phone is the PHONE. That is why it has an excellent battery life. How much more can you ask from a cell. phone?

  • why don't have all phones this battery? i'm really surprise with the battery life! i want my samsung d500 with this batteryyyy!

  • I have the previous model and I am very satesfied. All I can say is that you will forget where your charger is :)

  • OMG! look at the battery life! 35 days!! this is very good for people that talks a lot :) if this phone wouldn't be expensive i'll buy it just because the battery.

  • Decent set of features, but with over a month (35 days) of stand by time. This is such a legend of a phone!

  • Damn Ugly!

  • really cool phone from philips. i think im gonna buy this phone. hehe...

  • wow, look at the stand by time , really impressive, but lacking of memory is no good

  • WOw this phone has a very very good battery life...the other features are normaly, nothing out of comun, but the battery...respect
