I have a silver razar phone. I've had it for 6 mons and it is worthless. It rings when it wants to.The screen comes up when it wants.you can call someone when it decides. It is a Motorola razar v3m S/W: NCR 01.1A.OOR DATA CODE 207. i took it to the carrier with insurance it cost $99.00 to replace.i have a 2 year plane and a motorola phone that workes when it wants to .

Yes the program for that website has worked for me, and if you are not able to download a free nero download the trial version that gives you 30 days. I plugged my v690 into its charger and when I came to use it the next morning it had ablank screen. I tried turning it on but nothing happend. It's not the battery becase the phone should workd with the charger connected even if you remove the battery. did this happen to any body else or does anyone know why? I am know using a phone that I got free with my monthly plan.

Hello every one, I stumbled on this web site that gives you the ability to create your own ring tones, initially starting your music file that you would like to convert into a ring tone as a wav. File --> then down the instructions all the way to an MMF. File. It�s very nice and simple and I had to share it on line� visit the website for steps (1) one through (5) five for complete instructions, but when you come to down load the WaveEdit, a plugin of Nero Burning ROM, the web site posted seems not to work. Use this web domain instead to download the program. Other than that, the web site this guy has posted works remarkably well and I now have thirty four (34) custom made ring tones stored on my pc that I switch back and forth to my v690 and vice versa to make space on my phone for new tones, and make more when I ever get a chance. s.e.

Good day to co-v690 users! Comments about my v690: 1. Had battery replaced already and it really has a hard time recharging if it's totally drained; 2. There is no option to switch on the external LCD light, thus, it's better to have the "Flip answer" mode turned off (esp. at night); 3. It can play only MIDI ringtone format. 4. The external LCD is flickering like a heartbeat (can anyone tell me the cause of this? thanks.) As regards the rubber casing belt strap: 1. "Single strap, magnetic rubberized lock" exposes the cellphone thus prone to scratches and bumps leaving ugly marks on the corners (damn paint chips off easily!) Other than that, it's a great phone. Sleek, classy, very presentable. =D

hey melissa, i had the same problem with mine a little more than a year ago...im pretty sure its not the battery if you can't even power it back on with the charger connected. It should work without the battery with the charger connected to it...

Meliss, if your phone doesn't power up when you install the charging cable, try leaving it in for 15 minutes. I had water damage to mine and it took 20 min to gain power aigain while charged. whether you have your battery in or not, if your charging cable is connected to your phone it is suposed to power up. If the powering up function is not displaying, then your problem is somthing other than jyour battery.

To delete a picture you would want to go to the photo album choose your photo you wish to delete then press the middle soft key on top "between" Back and "View." There you have the option to send, erase, move, or set it as a wall or screensaver.

It's not such a bad phone, I say it's just fair and you have concider what you paid for is what you get. Everybody is supposed to read all reviews they can find about a phone before buying it.

What a useless phone

I have been using this phone for more than a year now. And guess what, it squeeks like mad, very very very bad reception, and the camera is awful. So for anybody out there who wants to buy this phone. I truly recommend to simply throw the money in garbage. It will save you time

yo Andriuzz I recommend that you send your phone in for repare because there is no other option out of the "BACKLIGHT" category that will allow you to change your preferences to turn on your lighting. There are many websites out there that repair broken LCDs,waterdamages, and in your case you just need the small lamp behinde the external display.

Yes it's really nice phone. I like it . I got it 2 month ago. But it have the same problem as all said. doesn't work external display light. As one write, it's just settings . But its not settings. On my phone back light is on for 20s, but it still not working. If I turned off, then internal light doesn't work. So I really don't know what to do.

Did anyone know this phone can paly music you choose from your pc as a ring tone? well guess what boys and girls, it can and it does. Its all a matter of the size of the file you are trying to transfer to your phone through mobile explorer. this v690 can support any length music file that is reduced to 200 kilobytes or less which equals a maximum of 25 sec but effective, because you only need five sec of avarage ring tone time before picking up a call. I am now "jammin" like bob marley and the wailers. lol

regarding to the person below, mms should be no problem to recieve. I believe i may be incorrect in a couple of ways. All i know is that, you may use text messages but you may not send multimedia messages with your V690 without the internet, and regarding to the internet, well thats why i have posted what i have posted below this one. -your welcome

it doesn't work bro, you cant connect it, if your using it for ringtones, i suggest you download midi off the internet on your computer and use your mobile phone tools cable and disk to upload pictures, or anytypes of media.

hey what up fellas for those people having problems with their external display light working and think there phone needs repare, it is actualy just their settings on the v690. Do not fear sudanese Sammir is hear to pull you out of this tight jam. simply go to menu ___> Settings > Back light and make sure that you do'nt have yours turned off!!! note: if you hold down your volume key while the phone is closed, you can display your green backlight to see the time, date, battery level, etc.

Are there any Cingular users that can help me? I've had this phone for 5 months and still cant send or receive MMS or pictures. I just need the settings to do so, but I couldnt figure it out. Email me if ya know what they are. Went to Cingular and they were of no help whatsoever. I bought this phone online after Cingular refused to honor the warranty on a piece of crap LG1200, and I wasnt going to buy a phone from them so they could extend my contract :( Other than this, I have been pleased with the performance of this phone, and would recommend it to anyone.

I just posted my comment on the v690, and continued to read some of the comments on here. I find some rather funny & ridiculous in a way. Some complaint about certain feautures not working, and thus came up with a conclusion saying that how bad/terrible the v690 was. Please, people, don't expect to pay for a Hyundai and get a Mercedes Benz. Don't buy a phone blindly, read the phone features carefully and know what you're getting. For this price, I am happy to get what I paid for. If you want something with a "better or more advance" features, pay more and buy other phones.

I just posted my opinion on this v690 and then read more of the comments here. I find it funny in a way that some of you were wondering how this or that work. Please, read the features that this v690 offers carefully. If you're talking about "more advance" feautures, PAY MORE and get something else. WHAT YOU PAY IS WHAT YOU WILL GET. You can't expect to pay the price of a Hyundai and get a Mercedes Benz. Cherrish what you have, and pay more to get a phone with more feautres if you have to.

I've used my v690 (brand new) for over a year now and I must say that it's a great phone (for that price). It's easy to use, sleek and I get a lot of compliments from my female co-workers ;) For those of you who complained about the service, it was most likely your mobile network service's fault; nothing to do with the phone itself.

this phone is pretty sleek and unique + stylish. i got this phone almost for a year now in red color and its not one of those phones where you should crave and get all excited about. There are a lot of problems with the phone. The camera is not the best. Videos suck. 30 recording time tops(takes up a lot of memory) and plus, it has a small little box for you to record videos how pathetic is that? this phone's flip squeaks like crap, its huge when you flip it open, but there are some bright sides to this phone. This phone does last a pretty long time when not in use without charging. The phone comes with a data cable which you can you use to apply ringtones, pictures, animations, etc. If you have this phone and you have the software installed and you would like to try out and get a free new ringtone or animation go to www.free-ringtones.eu.com from there you can click on the left bar free poly ringtones. Choose one download to pc and hthen when your using mobile phone tools dont forget before you put it into the phone in the media center you have to change it to midi and then melody. IF you wanted the animations, just on the main page on the right there are animations just save picture as and then put it into your phones animation or picture file(not photo album). This phone though does not allow the use of voice or real ringtones so thats another downside. This phone does not have interchangable faceplates either. Overall i would give this phone about a 7.5. Great expierence with this phone. Oh yeah one more thing....don't ever use this phone in the rain, thats when i busted up my 1 4 9 and # keys. Your welcome.....

i got this phone in hong kong, march 2004, and it was fine for a while, but after 6 months, sometimes when you close the phone, white screen of death, on can reboot, or remove battery, motorola HK said, "send it back, will try to fix, you pay all costs" wow, what a deal, so much for support, now it crashes 10+ times a day, and the speakers fail also, nice looking, but garbage phone

I have had this phone(red) for about 2 months now and it working great except the clock is in the 24hr mode. Have no clue on how to change it. The phone has no problem and unlike other people who have said that it has bad service, that is not true at all the phone is not the problem, it's your provider.

I've had this phone, for a couple of months. I crushed my ericsson z200 in a door, and decided to buy this one. It was probably the WORST investment I've made. This phone has HORRIBLE service. I can't recieve phonecalls in my entire neighborhood. There is constant humming throughout all of my phone calls. I can't seem to switch the 24 hr time to 12 hr time. AND, as a paying cingular customer, I should have accsess to My MEdia. This phone will not allow me to connect to that. The standard ringtones are annoying... and Unless you know how to work a computer, you are stuck with them. The camera, worked well for maybe, the first MONTH I had the phone. and then something went wrong, and now I can't even take a clear picture.. The contrast is all off, and no matter how many times I fiddle with the settings, nothing changes. I've reset this phone at least 3 times to factory settings to see if it would take any effect on the camera. It didn't. I've re-looked through the manual, (which is useless) and I've searched on the internet for troubleshooting techniques. Other annoying bits for this phone. The camera, If you change your settings.. you have to alter them everytime you re-use the camera because they don't "stick". The external display light only turns on, when you shut the phone, or when someone is calling. You can't press a button on the outside to light up the screeen to see the time or how well your service is working. I should have just gunned up the extra $300 and bought the RAZR. I think I'll be switching service providers as soon as I turn 18.

Got this ph. about 2 days ago. 1st of all, I too can't change the hours from 24 to 12. 2nd, the battery is not very good since it takes about 2 days for it to be recharged again. Reception is sketchy and some calls are just missed all together. The manual is the worst I have seen. The vib activation is retarded since there is no known short key to activate the vibarator. The ph looks good and is a bit larger than I would like it. I'm shopping around to see if I can find a better ph. I don't think I like this ph at all for reasons mentioned above.

This is one of the hardest phone to work with. The manual doesn't help much at all. Got lost in the process of following the step-by-step instruction. The reception is terrible. It fluctuate so much that I kept on questioning "can you hear me now?" like the Verizon guy. The resolution for taking picture is crappy! Wanted to toss this phone but don't want to spend anymore money on a new phone. Really regret it.

I got this phone about 6 months ago in Hong Kong and I think it works great. I got proper cables and a software disc for PC connections. The only problems I seem to have is the 24hr/12hr problem everyone else seems to have. I also notice that the reception seems sketchy sometimes. And the battery only lasts for about 2 days before recharging. These are minor things that I've managed to deal with for this long and I still love this phone.

I've seen the post u guys made about the 12hr/24hr function. Me being the bored lil' geek I am, I noticed the 24hr mode is engaged ONLY when the calling signal is gone, and it takes 5 to 10 minutes to catch up...wierd huh??? It's a really cool phone but, it does have a few flaws...like turning the ringer volume down on incoming calls. I hated loud phone alerts, I see it as a way for a cell phone user to "Show Off' but, enough for the long story, does anyone have any suggestions about the incoming call alert volume???

It is only 3 months since I bought a V690 while I was in Singapore last October. I Had realy enjoyed using it as I could connect it to my computer and rtreive msgs. I could make photos etc. It realy assisted me in my manegerial activities. However When I travelled to my home village where I could not charge it for some days, It went out of charge and I could not charge it immediately. It took some 10 days until I got back to town and tried to charge it but it could not be chargeable. Let us have a comparison of V690 versus other makes from NOKIA and SAMSUNG as well as MOTO's own RAZR V3. SAMSUNG'S E330,NOKIA'S 7200 and 6170,MOTO'S V3 and V690 can all capture highest image size of 640x480. All models listed have hidden antenna. All models listed have shared memory, non expandable. SAMSUNG wins with bigger storage size. NOKIA's 7200 with lowest. Only MOTO's V3 comes with BLUETOOTH connectivity. MOTO's V690 only way of data transfer can be done only with data cable. Only NOKIA's 7200 comes with FM radio tuning. SAMSUNG and MOTO's V690 comes with flash. Non others have it. Value? MOTO's V3 much more pricey. Follows by SAMSUNG's E330 and NOKIA's 6170. NOKIA's 7200 is a little cheaper than MOTO's V690,but the addition of data tranfer accessories for NOKIA which requires more $$$ looses out to MOTO V690 which comes with full complete data suite.

I've been using this phone for about 5mths, and so far i'm satisfied with its performance. When i bought the phone, it take me lots of time to really get it perfect on general functions such as caller id photo display and caller id grouping. As the manual does not provide sufficient information on how to get these done in short time. Just like any other MOTOROLA phones, it takes users lots of days to explore completely by playing around with the features. And to add, just like any other MOTOROLA phones, ringtones are always too low even if you set it to the max(However,you can get this corrected when you send your phone to MOTO sevice to get firmware upgrade or other tuning). However, few weeks later, problem comes...the external display goes off very quickly everytime i close the phone. Doesn't know that the external display is faulty,until the display goes distorted. I've just sent this phone for service recently, and all the problems are corrected. Snap shot quality is good but not too impressive,focus to blame. Brightness compensation works well if taking close objects in slightly darker area. Transferring of datas(pics) is ok with the supported software cd supplied. The only bad thing about the program is that it takes way too long to startup. In General, i'll hold on to this phone till the contract of my current subscrption ends. General usage of this phone is alright if you are not too picky. Comparing to other makers such as SIEMENS or SAMSUNG, whom may offer additional features such as voice memo(dictaphone), larger memory(5mb shared memory is not enough...) as well as built in FM radio(commonly available in NOKIA sets of the same price range)...MOTOROLA needs to really buckup before releasing any phones to get positive response.

im useing the v 300 here in ireland its a very good phone. overall rating 8.5 out of 10. only bought it cos its a flip phone i get less headaches them common nokias burn up while u talk bigtime not many motorola flipphones out here the dont sell well . hade v60i it was ok 7/10. could someone please reply back and to inform me why do the usa motorola models which are the same as the ones here always have extendable antennas is it a heath fear thing?

I just got this phone last week. Bought one for myself and one for my fiancee. This is a GREAT phone. I never saw it in real life as this phone is not being released in Australia. I only saw it on the net so pretty much bought it blind. But when I saw this phone, it is just so truly beautiful. It's a great looking phone with excellent functions and menu system. The ring tones sounds fantastic and I really don't have any complains about it. But that is just me. For other ppl, the lack of bluetooth and infra red may be a put off, but for me, I don't use it anyway. So it's not a drama. For those who can look past that, I would highly recommend this phone as it seriously looks good. Best looking phone on the market without a doubt! And I am not biased btw. This is the first time I've owned a Motorola. My previous phones were Nokia (8210, 7650, 2110E, banana phone 7110??? (Can't remember the model), 8910), Siemens (SL 45), NEC (Can't remember model). But this phone seriously tops all of them in the looks department. And it's got a good weight! Not too light and not heavy at all!
