The touch screen is the only way to operate this phone and once it stops responding (and it will) you're hosed. Had this phone for 3 years and have have many frustrations and panics with it, as once the touch screen decides to hang it MAY come back - and then again, it may NOT. I wouldn't give this phone to my worst enemy.

I have been using my A697 for almost a year now,but suddenly when i dial a number i can't hear until i get it on speaker i have reset still the same-thing how can i correct this any assistance?

Stop. Consumer Cellular will not let you or can't figure out how to-unlock the phone if you leave them. You will NOT be using it with AT&T, b/c they both cannot figure out how to UNLOCK THIS PHONE. Take my advice, just look elsewhere.

Good, basic touchscreen phone. Only one home screen to worry with. Great for older adults who need the ease of touchscreen and to receive texts without all the smartphone complexity.

its not a bad phone got it 2 years ago and its fine but the touch screen doesn't always work on the lock screen and the home page other than that its not a bad phone and i did crack my screen and it works fine i cracked it by stepping on it and it didnt crack that easy ether.

I have had this phone twice. It's actually a pretty nice phone. But, the touch screen, lock key and the back key will start messing up within a 3-4 months. I got one a year back, and it lasted about 5-6 months before it started messing up, and then I bought another one from eBay for my birthday back in January, and it started messing up AGAIN a week ago. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this phone. It's a bigger hassle than it's worth.

Touchscreen will fry within a few months, usually right after 1 year warranty. Cannot see display outside in sunlight.

to whomever you are who said you're looking forward to see samsung die because its products are too fragmented...try putting up your own mobile phone business and let's see how you'd come-up with ideas and concepts to satisfy your customer needs/wants. make sure you cover low-end market, mid-end market, and the high-end market, and even the sub-categories in between each level of markets...

And yet I await the day samsung actually has an awesome handset in AT&T. This thing looks like a toy you would buy at the dollar store for your kid. The only thing this phone has going for it (a little) its that it takes 32gb micro, then again a lot of phones do nowawdays.

First time I've seen it: Wow Anyway, I don't like it being resistive. As what I've known, Samsung mostly creates capacitive TS phones :/ Add it with WLAN, it'll be cool :)

Samsung's products are too fragmented. The phone looks alright, and the other phones (like the Omnia 2) are great too, but companies that have good content but bad concepts will never survive. Im looking forward to seeing Samsung die soon. Atleast there's one less brand to follow.
