Had the phone for just over two years. Started off fine for the first year or so. Then decline set in. Problems with storage of basics like Whatsapp, emails, contacts etc despite putting in a larger memory card. Phone switches itself off, at intervals, daily. The only remedy to this I have found is to take the back off the phone, then remove and replace the battery etc. and eventually switching the phone on again. Unable to update anything. Most functions are back to factory settings. Been back to the shop of my mobile provider a few times, where the staff have tried their best and have been extremely helpful, but they have been unable to find a solution. I need to get a new phone but I really do not know which one to choose, as I do not want a repeat of this experience.

I just resolved that memory problem installing this: You need root and external SD-card with a partition in ext2. With 2GB my acer works very better ;)

I used Aptoide (downloaded from web) to download apps instead of the play store. This resolves the storage issue.

Not happy with this phone at all. Software not working properly, can't use and update any applications - message that not enough memory. - Bought additional memory card 16G - the same message- not enough memory. Called to Acer- advised to erase a phone. Erased a phone in 4 hours again - not enough memory. Just fed up. And not provider- not Acer not border to exchange for another phone.

I had the exact same happen, bought it in march 2014 2 months on/of button failed to work. Sent for repair got it back. 1 month later same happened again sent for 2nd repair. Called customer service for an update they claimed there was water damage (its never went near any water in this period) yet they insisted the warranty is void and I'd have to pay for a repair. Worst company ever "ACER". They will say anything to get more money out of you. The phone itself has a repeating defect with the on/off button failing after minor usage. I felt ripped off. DO NOT BUY. They are a bunch of COWBOYS.

I bought my E2 dual sim last August, had some issues with the internal storage, can't have all the apps I'd like to, but it's a great phone, not too big either. It was in the water, after drying it out works perfectly. Well done Acer!

Rooted the phone, you do not need high technical skills to root it. Search the internet on how to do it. Use link2sd to move apps on the external sdcard. You will need a Linux partition on your card, apart from a regular fat32 one.

I have had this phone for about 6 months, and personally, it is not fit for purpose, it states that it has a 4gb internal memory, however this is partitioned into 2.35gb phone storage, and 1.65gb Internal Storage. Of the 2.35gb, 1.7gb of this is taken up by system files, and when you have updated apps like facebook, google, you are left with hardly no storage to download additional apps or updates. The 1.65GB storage is only for media only, and this applies if you put a sd card in, the sd card only stores media files (music, photos, etc.) I have done research on this, and I do don't seem to be the only one with storage issues. The only fix I have found, seems to be rooting the phone, and I do not know if this safe, or have any consequences, and I am not Techy enough to do it. Even with apps that move apps to SD Cards, it still does not help, as a portion of the App remains on the phone.

Got a new Acer E2 on a 2 year contract on November 2013. phone worked O.K. to April 2014 when it turned off and wouldnt turn on. After contacting 3 store was told I would have to contact Acer which I did. After 3 phone calls and 4 weeks I received email with barcode and returns address. Phone was returned on 18/06/14 only to stop working again on 29/07/14. Returned item to Acer on 04/08/14 but still waiting to get phone returned. Not happy with 3 service. Still paying contract monthly but not getting service.

yeah, the performance is good but, after 6 months using this device, i found a problem in the internal storage where it only used 2.35GB of 4GB. the system used 1,8GB, and left only about 600MB for apps. it's too small for the features in this phone. it happened to me when all i do is installing apps and only 50Mb left in my memory and the phone always notify about the low internal storage left. it's so disturbing

Unfortunately... It's almost not possible. Rooting means gives you access to the root part of the smartphone, gives you administration authority, including ROM. If you are serious about rooting, try friend or store that has experiences of doing this correctly.Remember : warranty is lost once it's rooting. Secondary option : buy a smartphone that has bigger ROM capacity :D

Either I have bad luck with a production fail, or the electronics design is bad. The phone has poorest Wifi signal reception I have ever seen. My Galaxy S4 has 2.5x better signal reception and any other older phone I have (like Nokia N97 mini) has better Wifi reception than this Acer. Besides that, after being outside for 2 minutes the GPS did not locate my position. Any other phone we have (except the N97 mini) does better than that, even with same pricing.

P.S. I like HTCs more than samsung but my budget didn't allow me to buy a great HTC alternative. And for everyone on this page you should be looking at the Sony Xperia L that phones dual core processor is faster than this one's quad and it looks way better want dual sim support see the Xperia M or the Samsung Galaxy Core or win, even the HTC Desire 500 with the amazing Sense 5 is a much better alternative than this Acer handset (which is really beautiful and cheap I'll admit) and once again this phone is not as great in the volume section don't let the looks fool you.

Dude I own the galaxy s4 mini it's blazing fast and better than the full sized galaxy s3 and you'll get enough space in it for all the important apps and one (sometimes 2) heavy games like fifa 2014 and need for Speed most wanted, not to mention the much more mature TouchWiz Nature UX samsung uses as it's UI to skin androind oh and you will make sure you'll be getting the 4.4 kitkat (at least).

i have this handset for 2 months and it's agreat device whitin prices. the internal 4gb ROM divide into 2.4gb application storage and 1.4db phone storage. without any rooting you can installed application on shared internal and external. i think 1g RAM is just fit to this phone range. the problem is sometime the power button stop responding and the phone speaker is so standard. but hey what you expecting from this cheap phone? c'mon guys....

Had the phone for 3 weeks now, hasn't given any issues. Wasn't sure about buying this phone due to some negative reviews, but its great, the speakers are slightly average but more than adequate for my use and internal storage of 1gig is not enough. Very pleased with the phone, fast, no lags or glitches. I would recommend this phone to those looking for entry lever "pro-smart phone".

I have this phone now for more than 2 months . it's the dual SIM card version. pros : generally good phone , value for money , fast enough to do any app or game , enough battery for heavy use in a day , useful metal cover cons : most annoying is the GPS ! most of the time it can't pick up any signal ... camera is acting strange in zooming sometimes , speakers quality is average , screen is not clear is sunny days if it's in low brightness mode , you need to install extra app manager apps to sort out the folders and widgets , 1 gb RAM isn't enough conclusion : I recommend this phone if you look for something not expensive but fast and powerful .

Thank you for the feedback. The Acer is tempting, especially seeing how many people have been having network problems with the dual sim s4 mini. I'm still a bit worried about the memory, Like I mentioned earlier, I've had a few phones and regardless of how big a memory card I use (currently using 16gb) I still get insufficient memory errors and telling me my message memory is full despite deleting most of my messages. Also, some apps just don't let you transfer them to the card, even with a rooted phone. The other thing is, I looked through the benchmarks for both phones yesterday, and the Samsung seemed to come out on top, despite the dual core processor. I looked, but there does not seem to be a dual sim S3. There is a galay s duos, but spec wise its not something I'd consider.

to whatuser...the S4 mini is little more than a recovered Galaxy S2 internally....its nice but overpriced...get a Galaxy S3 if the brand name is important. ACER...loving it...easy to use and with a few setting default changes the internal storage space isn't a problem...just stick a 16 or 32gb card in it and you'll be laughing. Camera is spot on and video recording are nice and clear. For the money there is nothing I know of that can compete with this phone and still have full manufacturer support.

Hi peoples, I've been looking at getting a new phone, and had the Samsung Galaxy s4 mini i9192 in mind, but recently found this E2 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with both. Obviously the Samsung is more expensive,but has a better camera (or at least picture quality), has 4G and NCF(I think), more ram, and more internal storage. On the other hand there have been a lot of reports of network problems with the S4 mini. The Acer has a quadcore processor, a more minimal version of android, and is cheaper. For me I would go with the acer, however the small internal storage does worry me. I've always had low end android phones, and they always seem suffer from memory issues. I always end up with insufficient storage messages and no matter where I move or remove apps I can't get rid of it. Also it would be nice to have a good quality camera on the phone so I don't have to carry a separate one all the time.

minor update............headphones in the box and usb cable are rubbish. Headphones have sharp plastic edges that really hurt and the usb is far too short and if you really want to get to know the phone then download the manual...quick start guide is a waste of paper as is the overkill safety book

just got one of these and for the money its great. a few tweaks to the default settings and add a few apps and it can do all of the things i do on my Galaxy S4. no short cut to close open apps and you really do need to get a big memory card and moved installed apps to it as the internal app storage runs out fast. Are there things i could gripe about .... yes but only when compared to devices 2 or 3 times the price. Awesome intro Android phone..perfect size and ability and 90% of user won't need anything better. Well done Acer

I'm using this for 2 months, best in all heavy games, reception is very clear, display is awesome, with 4GB I can install most everything (of course with SD card installed), quad core like s3, but price is half than that. Battery is not too good but not bad at all, above average. Download speed HSPA+ (42 Mbps), twice faster than grand or s3, Just like s4. (s3 only HSDPA 21 Mbps). I prefer this than s4 itself becoz of it's value. The best phone ever :D. tks acer for this affordable superb smartphone :). I'm from indonesia

I've had the for two months and here is my impression. Over all and excellent value for money phone. Battery life is excellent.. Lasts all day even with email and WhatsApp running permanently. Processor is fast and not laggy. Camera works fine without blowing your socks off. Call quality is excellent both outgoing and incoming voice volume. Gps initially took a while to lock my position but now seems to do it quickly and accurately. Apps work smoothly. With the latest update one can move apps to the sd card. The minor issues I've picked up is the wifi doesn't have great range and I have no idea why they advertised their dts as the external speaks are really bad. It's not that u can't hear them but hey tend to distort. One you use earphones then it works nicely. The screen is neither amazing nor bad.. So over all.. A big yes to this phone.

I have been using this phone for 3 months. This phone is very nice. I still have not found a serious problem until now. Maybe just a little problem on the arrest signal, but still able to function normally. For performance, I think is sufficient to represent all. When I have to work or relax and play a game, this phone works very good.

I'm not an expert in phone quality, but your story seems very odd. you still kept that phone 2 weeks after it crashes? why don't you bring it directly to the shop? My question is: did you bought that phone along with the guarantee? Cause, even in my country, suppliers sells these kind of phones with 'new unit replacement' if the fault is not by user's error. Until the last day of guarantee period. :)

It's a piece of crap. I have bought it couple months ago, and then the bottom part of the screen starting to loosen up. when I tried to push it back to it's place, the lcd turns to error (like a tv without signal). 2 weeks later, the lcd became totally error. When I came to the acer customer centre, they promised to repair it at maximum 5 days before it can be fully use and return it to the customer. In fact after 5 days, they did not called me, instead I called them, but the answer is that the spare part is not available. This is irritating. After this call, they only call me twice, first to inform me that there is another part that should be replace, and the part is not available, second, they asked for my password, which I have forgotten due to long period of not using it. And now after 10 working days, they have not called me the status of my phone. The funny things is that when I asked whether this phone is a reject product or not, they said that this phone has been pass trough a quality control. What the hell man, a phone that has been gone trough a quality control cannot be this sucked. I don't know whether the quality control is suck or the phone is reject product. My previous china product phone (which is cheaper) has gone trough years of services without having this problem. If you would like to buy a phone, please reconsider if you would like to chosse this phone. Perhaps if you lucky you will have the good one.

Thank you very much my almost namesake. Totally understood and will try. I removed the camera protective film and it is a really good camera. Battery life is also very good. I can get 2 days easily out of it. Mind you, I am behind a pc wholeday so don't check emails that often with it but still very happy with it. As for those asking about US suppliers, Welectronics has and also ebay has many sellers shipping to the US. Mine came from the UK and seller shipped to the US for me.

Hi Dave! If you want to change default ringtone, you have to follow this easy steps: 1.Update the phone software (Settings>About Phone>System Update). Make sure you have an SD card inserted. You should have your battery fully charged to prevent a shutdown during the update. 2. Connect your phone to a PC and open the SD card folder. In this folder you should see a folder called Ringtones (if it doesn't exist, create it). Copy into this folder the ringtones. 3.Unplug your phone. Go to Settings>Sound>Sim1 Ringtone/Sim2 Ringtone. Such a really great phone. Updated itself. Works perfectly. Great speed. All installed apps work flawless as well as what I got. Camera looks good even though didn't remove the protective film. I am really satisfied with this phone. Only thing to complain which I probably haven't figured out yes is how to use a ringtone other than what the phone came with. One off if not the best dual sim Android out there given price point and what you get.

hello e2 and p780 use same chip and same RAM and internal memory :P so is same platform then except screen size, battery size, and 2nd cam p780 claimed 1.2MP, e2 claimed 2 MP :) if i were u, i will pick bigger battery :P or i choose IP67 phone (waterproof, dustproof) i used lenovo A660, and very happy with that IP67 phone ;)( bigger battery is needed the only i complain from that phone) hope it helps :)

Been using this for a week now, so far have tested: The good: 1. Sound is excellent, loud n super clear 2. Camera is good and clear 3. Display is excellent, touchscreen very responsive 4. Apps open fast, browsing also The bad: 1. Battery is poor, with only wifi on for downloading it lasts only like 3 hours (gps,3g, everything else off) 2. wifi signal reception is poor (my old nokia e51 had much better reception on the same spot) 3. No USB OTG!!! Why???? So I you could find an extended battery, somehow make the USB port reads flashdisk, and boost the wifi reception, this would be a perfect phone for me.

Finally got mine delivered this week from Expansys. Initally disappointed by the fact that apps CANNOT be installed to the SD card (you need to use the phones memory, separate from the internal memory but only about 1.6GBs). Also thought that you couldn't use custom ring tones, but you can once you realise your music files need to be copied to a specific directory to use as ring tones. After I got through this, really liking the phone :)

Yes the camera is bad, always blur when taking pictures.. i even try it with timer, to keep my hand steady , but it doesn't make any significant differences.
