ok chris go to menu and hit settings then go to sound profile then u hit normal and on the right top of ur csreen there is a box hit it and go do to message and thats how u can set ur ringtones as ur txt messages

Had the same problem. Here's What I Did: 1. Calibrated my screen using my big 'ol thumb (From the standby screen, press Menu>Settings>Phone>Calibration) 2.still didn't work. I found that pressing a little bit to the right of the white triangle worked.

After much googling (as I also want to change the lock walpaper) all I ever found was how to change what they call the "screensaver" -which is apparently their way of saying Wallpaper and dodging the locked screen question... grrr

I have a question Some people say the a885 is a smartphone and others dont......Smartphones connect to the internet without your permission and whenever they want to.....so if i do not get a dataplan with this phone will my bill go sky high? I havent asked telus and on their website it automatically (when shopping) asks you to select a rate plan. I want to to a rate plan but i am afraid of this phone going on the internet without my permission even to update things (expensive)

You shouldn't need a manual. It's a pretty simple teardown as they go. Just keep track of which screws go where. Once all the screws under the battery cover are out, the back casing comes off pretty easily. I replaced the LCD screen (underneath the digitizer) recently without any problems.

My husband and I had LGVU's. We had to send the first two back then the two replacements as well! That phone sucks, dropped calls, echoing voice in ur ear, others could hear us,but we couldn't hear them or vice versa. So glad to get rid of the Vu. The solstice is awesome!!!! I agree the stupid screen savers are annoying maybe you could buy a new one and delete theirs somehow. Also you can not get your ringtones to move from phone to phone, even w/a memory card. I've had to redownload and buy all of mine again. I just called AT&T and told them the situation they credited my account and it was like i was buying them for the first time. Anyone who has or is thinking of getting the LGVU, DO NOT DO IT BAD,BAD PHONE 3/4 OF OUR CALLS WERE LOST AND EVEN THE AT&T WORKERS IN THE CORPRATE STORE I USE SAY NO NO NO. THEY SAY IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN STORES,AND I'VE CHECKED THE INTERNET NOT THERE EITHER!!!! Wonder why. Stick to the solstice u may have to see stupid screensavers for a second but at least all your calls are going through and it works well.

When it comes to ease and brilliance - this phone takes the trophy. Basically it's a cheap Iphone - as it is missing some of the techy apps they have. Here's the good> It is simple to use - texting or calling with the favorites scrollbar - it may be the fastest simplest phone out today. And the speaker hands free is just amazing - I can set phone down and keep talking and there is no problems hearing one another. The Bad> Yep they stuck you with their screen saver - although it disappears once you hit the unlock button at the top right. Then you can see your own personal wallpaper selection. A way out if this would be to go to settings and turn off auto lock - course then you battery will die quicker and if using a phone case you may accidentally bump some app or numbers. It's only there for a second - just be quick bout unlocking it and you'll see your real wallpaper.

That's how you change the wallpaper - but you can't change the screen saver that comes on when the phone is locked - figure that out and you'll impress someone.

i like it a lot i like the messaging process and how uyou can choose different fonts it has a good vibrate...not too loud not too quiet..i love it. i also like the sidebar it makes it easy and quick to get to certain features right when u need it, i would definately reccomend this phone to others.

Why can't you even make your own screen saver? Plus, changing the wallpaper doesn't change the screen saver. The only answer I get is to change the wallpaper and that isn't the same thing. It's the picture that changes every time you lock the phone.

I just purchased a ringtone from ATT media center for my Solstice. How do I make it my active ringtone? I can't seem to find it in the list of ringtones. About the Mac trashing, I have this phone working flawlessly with my MacBook. Contact syncing (some minor work to do in a isync file), BT file transfer both ways, and finally, wireless tethering over Bluetooth all on the same phone. This is the second Samsung phone I've had over many years and I am surprised at it's features nearly every time. The only gripe I have is the lack of a standard 3.5mm headphone jack as the speaker is awful.

go to menu on phone. select connectivity. to activate the phones bluetooth. select menu. select bluetooth. turn on your bluetooth headset. select search option. the phone will search and find the headset transmission. you will need the security code that came with the headset. once the phone finds the headset, just follow the instructions on your phone.

i had this phone for about a month now and its a good phone. touchscreen is excellent. i bought the jet s8003, the touchscreen is awful. most of the time, i need to touch the key twice or press it really hard for a character to register. so now i switch back with this phone. the touchscreen is very great! the keys work everytime even just a very light touch.

i have this phone and it is SUPER LIGHT its definetly one of the smallest phones out there. the 3g is really fast and web browsing is super easy with the snappy touchscreen. i would compare the touchscreen to an iphone you barely have to tap it its great. one thing i dont like is java i really wish it was win mo but otherwise its a great phone and ive had all 3 generations of iphones so you can trust me when i say its got a good touchscreen.

I am having the same problem. I thought the first one was just defective, so I traded it for another, but the second one is no better. This phone is terrible. My old phone got full bars in my apartment. This one usually gets 3. I hear a constant white noise/ static sound. People also complain that I sound like I'm cutting out when I have full service showing. I have already been back to the store twice. First a new sim card. And then a new phone. Didn't help one bit. This phone is not worth the $99 I paid for it. As soon as I figure out what phone to exchange this one for, it's going back.

I don't know where you're from, but this was released in August in the US. I live in California. Anyways, this phone is definitely not as bad as people say. It's pretty decent seeing how it's $100 w/ ATT-upgrade. Pros: The accelerometer (roation/shake/roll)and touch feature is nice and clean. The OS is nice and clean and not super cluttered. The screen resolution/color is better than most phones out there with the same price tag. Voice Activation is accurate 80-90% of the time. Battery life isn't too shabby. Very ergonomic in my opinion and is very sleek compared to others. The touch-QWERTY keyboard is pretty big on screen so it's fairly accurate. All the symbols are one touch away so no worries. The camera is EXCELLENT quality might i add (compared to similar range phones). Overall, the hardware is pretty good. Cons: The miniSD card slot is located under the simcard (no manual included btw for those that need it). The customization is very limited for the widgets and home screen. The speaker SUCKS. Overall, this is a very ergonomic phone. Try it out in person for the widget issues and see the camera for yourself. This phone is nothing fancy but it's very suited for the basic everyday use. Wouldn't recommend it for business use though (go Blackberry). Also, for previous Samsung users, the menu is pretty much the same. PS: Buddy, you're using a MAC. Does compatibility issues ring a bell? Check Apple and Samsung site for possible drivers. I'll admit a personal vendetta against MAC's. But from a non bias position, No Mac user should be w/o a PC. PSS: For those looking for iPhone alternatives, the Solstice still doesn't quite match up. But having saved the extra $30/month, this is a good alternative.

Have Samsung gone touch screen crazy? Everything they do is following the same trend, just different versions of the tocco or omnia range, slapped with a different name and price depending on features. Don't get me wrong, I have the tocco ultra and enjoy it, but how many more do they have to make? It's getting ridiculous now in my opinion.

Part from the design and possibly the price? What will make this better than the samsung tocco lite? (aka: samsung star. I had a quick scan and the tocco lite has more mega pixels. (note: i didnt say quality) The tocco lite is already available for �80 sim free. Therefore this phone will prob cost �50?
