Samsung E1130B - User Reviews

  • Interesting phone...

  • sound quality and vibration are good enough. Pre-loaded ringtone are not too many but are good. speakerphone can be enabled while on call in 2 key presses. speakerphone is also impressive. earpiece volume is also excellent & clear

  • pros: excellent basic phone, good to hold in hand & fits pocket, hard wearing & durable, good call quality, texting with T9 is a pleasure, tactile feedback of keys is good, ringtones are loud enough, menus are userfriendly, useful facilities of torch light, fake call & sos message, phone antenna is good. OUT OF THE BOX BATTERY LIFE!!!! - 5-6 days with normal calling & texting with 1/2 day listening to radio on speakerphone & 2/3 bluetooth file transfers. cons: very low internal memory (1MB) & no card slot, phone headphones are below par, headphone jack & charging port should have been normal 2.5 mm hole with jack instead of the chip-like port, phone operation/menus are a bit slow but not irritating, wap browser is very slow but still ok. i am also using a SAMSUNG GALAXY S II along with this phone, but still like E1130B for the above simple features....

  • it´s a good phone, only minus is the noisey keys..

  • Don't be misled by the MP3 ringtones spec, this phone has a very low sound quality when it comes to ringtones even the midi ones. I have bought this phone but I'm reselling it after being deceived, mainly because the official statement says that the phone's contacts can be synced by bluetooth with the samsung software. But I have tried everything both on the computer and the phone (e1130B), but the phone simply doesn't bring out the request to confirm computer access to the phone for syncing. So, besides the Syncing issue (very important for me), here are other bad things about this phone: - doesn't handle a vcf file containing more than one contact (sending all phonebook form my SE to this one always fails) - no text copy/past (useful for memo/messaging) - unpractical keyboard functions (software) for message writing (Please Learn from SonyEricsson!) - the keyboard's top part doesn't have backlight! - operating the phone is slow (time for un-locking the phone, boring 2-seconds-visual-alerts) (has to learn from SE too. my 3-yr-old k320 enables me to do things very quickly and put it back in the pocket in a flash.) - no info/text field in phonebook for contacts - phonebook names have a limit of 20 characters only (try to put arabic names on your phonebook...) - can't disable the on/off sound in normal profile - can't disable the gprs icon on the network indicator, a function which i will never use. Of course it's an excellent phone for being rugged and resistive, plus with the generous battery life and great organizer, but no I won't be stuck with its awful limitations. Samsung only needs to make one more step at making these "low profile" phones more powerful and satisfactory, and I'll be waiting for the upgraded product...

  • hi.i use samsung cell ph,but when i enter the tracker they ask me pass word,n if alredy tracker on ,how can i remove it, plz reply me those 2 questions which i ask u,

  • hello samsung, please make a dual sim with this type (rugged) of phone. if you can carryover all the body design of this E1130B and improve further the battery...you'll have the winner. after 10 months of using this mobile phone, i learn to love it and does't want to use any other basic mobile phone.

  • hello, does anyone think that it's too clunky and heavy?

  • great keyboard (one of the best points) and also great autonomy. Compact dimensions, it's a good point. flashlight finally useful Small welcome applications (eg timer or memo) but question: I thought I saw that it was compatible java MIDP2 but how to launch / install .jar files? (I transfer them to the phone)

  • any chance of installing opera mini on this phone. Is the loud speaker loud enough for speaker phone. Can it be used in normal rain. is it available in India.

  • About internet, it works, but the screen is too small, Maybe ok for wap sites, but if you want to really browse in the internet go for a larger screen. Really limited in this point.

  • Q: How good is the display outdoors? I can read it even at 12 o'clock bright sun. Colors do fade and you might have to leave economy mode off and put brightness to maximum. But you can always read the faded (by sun light) screen no matter the angle. This is better then my SE for wich I have to put the hand over to read at bright sun. So I think it is not bad.

  • no...it uses the standard samsung usb connection.

  • this Samsung E1130 use 3.5mm Headset?

  • I've just bought a Nexus One smartphone but frankly, much prefer this Samsung E1130 and still use it as my main phone. GOOD: Battery life lasts 10-12 days with power settings switched off; simple design; handy features you don't expect from a cheap phone. Good tactile key feedback BAD: Menus not as intuitive as Nokia; slow response when typing successive letters from the same key e.g- oFFer, sOOner. Thin, small typeface for SMS messages. A great basic phone; really should be thicker and heavier for better feel in pocket. 8.5/10

  • How good is the the display outdoors? I am asking because the display of similar Samsung model (E1100) is very weak outdoors. With b/w displays like on my old phone readability outdoors (sunlight) is normally not a problem, but with colour displays it is more a problem. Can somebody please recommend low end phone with good colour display for outdoor use.

  • Hi, I just got one of these. Very cheap, but for a simple phone looks like it is very complete. I just need to do calls and SMS, and bluetooth for car use. very rare connection to internet (did not try this yet). Small but nice to hold firmly. Call sound is ok. Call rings very "hearable" wich is nice. FM radio plays too much loud for my taste with the headphones, in the minimum level (in ambient silence) and you cannot turn on radio speaker without the headphones connected (headphone wired antenna). Very impressive announced standby time. I am very happy I have bought it. The upper two rows of keys do not get lit by the keyboard light, wich is the only little annoyance I have found. But you find them easily once you are aware of that.

  • I thot E1130 and E1130B is the same.... gosh ther's no bluetooth in it

  • can you put songs in this?? MP3 format...

  • Hello, I Bought this phone 2 weeks ago because my sony Ericsson K770 batt is really to die. The reason i bought this phone was for the bluetooth and the weather dust... (cheap price) One thing i found out the keypad lock you can turn off!! That's what so irritating!!!!!! Its Configration then phone(4) then autokeypad lock(3) on turn it off Problem solved Only minus on the phone is the 1 mb memory. Because i like simple mp3 tones to switch there's only 2 tones te put on it and the memory is full. Butt my final conclusion: Great phone with a subliem battery status and bluetooth for me carkid!!!

  • Samsung E1130 dont have Bluetooth, but E1130B have.

  • dig deeper, this phone has a bluetooth.

  • i just bought E1130. why there's no bluetooth? i thought it has a bluetooth with it.

  • this is indeed a very good basic phone aside from the very annoying flaw which i will explain later. i will post more of my experince about this phone after a couple of days. battery performance seems to be very good. my biggest disappointment about this phone (and another samsung phone of mine, E2100B) is the auto keypad lock feature after you respond to a voice call or after you respond to the alarm. the keypad lock does not return to locked position immediately. WTF?! are samsung engineers crazy? all other phones i've used (nokia, siemens, benq-siemens, Eten, samui, and all other cheap china-made dual-sim phones automatically return to keypad lock position after you respond to a voice call or alarm (stop or snooze. this phone doesn't do it and you need to wait for the time (you set) for the keypad to lock. anyway...more reviews to come about this phone.

  • Antonio, Thanks. I've ordered mine last Friday from Amazon.co.uk but the phone has not been delivered yet. The phone will come from a retailer in Germany. I should have it tomorrow.

  • Hi explorer the answer to your first question is yes.About the second question is no ,you can choose between 4 tupes of default sms alerts ,there is no mp3s.Finally the theme colors are ocean ,skyline and emerald. Thanks

  • @ Antonio, I have a couple of questions, before finally buying this phone: 1. Can you display the calendar (the whole month) in the 128x128 pixels screen? 2. Can you use mp3 for your SMS tone? 3. What colors are the theme? Black? Ocean? Emerald? Thanks a lot.

  • great battery life! For those who need the device only for phone and nothing else....

  • At www.e-shop.gr sell E1130 Rocky and it has bluetooth 2.0 same as E1130b.

  • In Australia we sell the E1130 (Rocky). It is exactly the same except it does not have bluetooth.

  • Thank you very much Antonio. Now, I'll buy this phone.

  • e1130b or e1130 rocky it's the same phone.

  • Yes my friend i have found that option and it is excatly as you mentioned.I go to settings/security/privacy lock/and then it gives me the opportunity to tick all-call log-phonebook-messages-my files-calendar-memo.I hope that helps Thanks.

  • Please check your E1130B on this: Settings/Security/Privacy lock/...then it will give you the option to tick the following: All Call log Phonebook Messages My files Memo

  • I can't find this feature you mentioned on my phone i thing it does't have it, although i'm not 100% sure about that. Thanks

  • I found some websites in Australia that sell Samsung E1130 Rocky. Is this the same as E1130B? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Thank you very much for the information. It's £43.93 + £3.5 shipping in Pixmania UK site. I have a question to you before buying this phone. I have a Samsung E2100b which is a low-end phone from O2 (£19.99 on pay as you go). What I really like about this phone is the security/privacy setting feature which i can apply to have a password access to memo, call log, messages and files. Is this feature also in E1130B? Thanks in advance.

  • I got it from Pixmania.com Thanks

  • which internet website did you buy your phone?

  • I got my phone last week, bought it through internet for a back up phone. It's a simple phone with only the basics features. There are a few nice things like battery life, keyboard, weatherproof, lightweight small size but there is a plus minus and that is the memory. It has only 1 mb internal memory and of course only the half of it is free and there is no external memory slot.Like somebody else said what,s the point of having mp3 ringtones feature when there is no memory to save them!

  • Samsung, please release a dual-sim version of this phone with long-life battery. I don't care about the small screen or no GRPS or 3G feature. I don't need a camera but 1.0mp is a bonus. an 8gb card compatibility and 1000-entry phonebook with good loud speaker is more important to me.

  • Can someone tell me if this is already available in the Philippines and if it is, how much is it? Thanks in advance.

  • bluetooth is not just for transferring files. this phone is for people who work hard in the field and needs a simple but bluetooth enable phone that they can used with BT headset.

  • Looks as if it has what most tradies need... good simple design with bluetooth for handsfree, rugged and water resistant and without heaps of features.....Can anyone tell me the sound quality of the speakerphone and is there a shortcut to press the answer key then directly to speakerphone like the Nokias do?

  • I have no idea why a phone has bluetooth feature when there is no enough memory for storing any files.. There are couple of Samsung basic phones like this....

  • can anybody tell me how many messages this phone can store? thanks.

  • Listen, Ali G, you have no idea what you're talking about. Look at all E and B series basic phones which aren't on the market a whole year, and Samsung's launching new successors and discontinuing "old" phones, which btw. aren't old a year yet. I don't say Samsung is bad, I'm a owner of a G600 myself, just hold on a bit, hit the brake or it's gonna end messy. Stick to one design for a while, like SE and Nokia do.

  • heheh wat r u talkin bout man btw r u against providing variety to guyz who jus cant buy costly ones??????? n pls dont write ur ign0rance here samsung launches 7 low price phone n all the fones have diffrent features for ex one have fm+ stereo speakers+card slot, bluetooth, vga camera second have only fm + stereo speakers so if u want to buy fone @ really low price with fm go for the second one wats the need of buying the first likewise they have water, shock, dust ressistent fone, qwerty keypad fone(entry level)etc n all these fones are launched at the same time so ur theory choked here. samsung simply providing hell lot of options at entry level phone coz sam made phones for massess n not jus for classes. yup sam rockz.

  • I can understand numerous variations for the upper/mid segment, of course, they cost more. But for low-end devices? The difference between a phone with and without for example bluetooth is like 5. No, this is Samsung's marketing strategy. As soon as they sell many phones with bluetooth, they add a card slot after few moths and force the customers to buy it so instead of paying 35 for a BT+CS phone, at the end they have to pay 30 + 35. Samsung is obviously following Apple's strategy, only on a different scale.

  • hehehehe i think u are really d@#$ thats the way to offer cost effective handsets..... why pay for everything if a guy want to buy a low cost decent mobile phone with fm why shud he pay extra money for usb cable or gprs too which he may never use. may b u dont understand bro go n check even upper/mid segment phones u'll got hell lot of variations havnt u seen phones with 3g n then they have fone with wifi n then some have both....lol remember customer needs are varied n not the same.

  • Yeah, create a basic phone with bluetooth, then create one with a card slot, then create one with both features. Oh, and we left out the fm radio, how many variations shall now be? Please...

  • hehehehe dont u really understand. all these phones have some distinct feature like bluetooth, card slot, fm(inbuilt antinna) etc @ low prices that means more choices n more option for customers who cant go for costly ones. keep it up sam....

  • What's the point of zillion new entry-level phones from Samsung every few days?

  • Durable and Simple design... Water resistant... Very Good !!! It's Nice!!!

  • Fantastic! Nice looking Rugged phone!! i wanna own this as a second mobile substituting for my S8000!! when is it's launching date in Paris?

  • hmmmm...looks durable with IP54...nice to have

  • 3rd :) hehehehe

  • good low end phone with dust and water jets resistant & bluetooth. nice low price phone.

  • wohoo 1st
