Samsung T349 - User Reviews

  • I luv dis fone, but it selects sim and doesn`t have brower settings. It slow in browsing and it cannot download application, wonder why!.

  • I loved this phone I had it for 2 years until I had upgraded. This phone is perfect for your first phone and it is really easy to use. I remember only charging it every 3 days and texing and calling were easy to use. Its not very complex but will fit all your needs for a first phone.

  • give use a memory card with it

  • how is the speaker.does this phone has Facebook

  • u take d battery off :)

  • u cant assign a tone for the SMS...Its just no right...and MXit doesn't work on it

  • Is there anyway to make ABC (alpha) the default for texting? I don't seem to be able to find a way to other than changing it before every message, and I hate T9.

  • i have this phone its ok

  • I have this phone && you cant put a ringtone to the message * for some reason it just vibrates -

  • Sending text messages, upon finished typing the message an now you are ready to send. I have 3 option on how to send it as follows 1,Recent Recipients 2. My Contacts 3. keying or typing the number itself. my question how can I delete the "Recent Recipients"? thanks in advance. [email protected]

  • ok im about to get thhis phone i was wondering can you set ringtones for your messages when you recieve them???? and does it have a profile you have to set for the vibrate and sound

  • Decent, basic phone. I've been using it for a couple of days and here are my impressions so far: PROS: -Nice keyboard, keys been solid and offer lots of feedback -Loud earpiece -Decent sound quality (although there is some "white noise" during calls) -E-mails are treated as incoming/outgoing text messages so no data charges apply if you have a messaging plan -Decent battery life/reception -Nice size/shape -Interface is pretty responsive/easy to use -Can use .mp3 files as ringtones or alarm tones CONS: -Limited customizability (cannot change d-pad shortcuts or softkey shortcuts) -Screen has terrible viewing angles and looks washed out in sunlight -Phone feels almost too lightweight - makes it seem cheaper -Screen resolution isn't very good -Cannot set non-camera picture as wallpaper -No volume settings for alarms

  • how did you get movies....

  • i am to is your internet slow

  • i like it to its just that the internet is slow.....

  • You can because that's exactly what I did.

  • it is my favorite phone it took a while to get use to so whoever dont like it i feel bad for you you dont know a good phone

  • i recently bought this phone... i loved it... i can go to IM fast... though, i don't like that they have the same charger and headset port... i don't really like green but the color seems to fit the phone... originally i was going to buy the samsung gravity. but this phone caught my attention.. i thinks its pretty good.. my friends loved it too... the semi qwerty is kinda hard getting used to.. and the t9 english is driving me insane... i can't change the settings for it... all in all i think its an awesome phone if you just take a good care of it..

  • Yes, you can.

  • If I purchase this as a prepaid phone, can I use it with my SIM card for the TMobile plan I am on?

  • this phone sucks!!! do not buy this phone you'll be very sorry enuf said

  • o yeah someone said no full screen haha Try pushing the pound button for complete use of the screen ,such a newbie lol !!!!

  • i got a case for it off of ebay so i dont have to worry about keyboard wear i also got a 2 gig card for it and i upload movies to it that i convert to .3gp 176x144 resolution i got Crank High Voltage ,In Living Color ,The Munsters ect on it lol. i think its pretty cool for the money .o yeah and i dont have to get a brain tumor cause i used a bluetooth ear piece on it .and yeah if u want long battery life make sure u let in run down all the way cause if u charge it too soon it will ruin the battery and make it to where u have to charge it all the time (like any rechargable )

  • I honestly think this phone is a fail. Like, if it had a full keyboard than maybe it would make it. But, just the color looks like crap.

  • HEYYY sygar... i do find that i am charging this phone every night abd it gets annoying. Also the keypad took a while to het used to and it kindof seems like if i text a lot, which i do that the ink is going to ware off on the keypad> does anyone else have this problem with the keypad. the inh is wearing off!!!!

  • k this phone is good for about 1 month and then it stinks. they say tht the memory is full all of the sudden...and then it starts to turn on until the pink square tht says 'stick together' and then it shuts off again.

  • Regardless the stupid highlighter comment I have one and for a mid-line its not bad. The hybrid keyboard works good. Overall the phone performs well.

  • YES, A SOMEWHAT BATTERY LIFE. Just to be on the safe side, I charge this phone every night and then the next morning, I take the phone with me. And to remedy the battery situation back to a FULL BATTERY, while I am driving, I quickly placed it on my car charger and after driving around just about 20-30 minutes, the phone's battery had 5 bars once again (full battery), so that quickly fixed the problem until I could arrive home and place it on the home charger. My old Razr V3's battery lasted longer (both in talk time and standby time - just about double the time of the Samsung T349), however, I also did not use the Razr except for just talking once in a while.

  • can you go in the instant messangers for free? and do they work fast?

  • i just got this phone. i LOVE it. the t9 is taking a lil getting used to... but i really dont mind- i do find it easier. and maybe it's me... but i seem to be charging this phone EVERYDAY! i think the battery life isnt so hot. anyone else have this problem???

  • You said: "None of these "reviews" are helpful to me as a consumer. Has anyone that has posted on here acually owned or use this device? Come on people, if this is a review forum it's probably the WORST excuse for a review forum I have even seen. Thanks for wasting my time reading this crap, and my energy having to type this!!!!" Mate... stop making a fool out of yourself. This is not a review forum. See that submenu at the top that says "Forum"? Thats where the forum is. This is the OPINIONS section, where we post OPINIONS, not reviews. If you're wasting your effort to type that comment why did you have to post it? I think I've made my point =]

  • Firstly, half-QWERTY keypads are fail. Next, it looks like someone vandalised the bloody thing with a highlighter. Seriously, what the hell!?

  • Probably all the short comments with no meat in them are from att staff :)

  • Addendum; apparently, you cannot run any internet-aware apps on this phone that aren't purchased and downloaded through T-Mobile's site due to proprietary Java security protocols locking out any app from accessing the data network if its certificate is not signed by T-Mo. (The consensus of the hacker community seems to be that the only way around this is a firmware reflash with that from a related but non-branded model). That means no Opera Mini, no Google Maps, and many others, since they aren't offered by T-Mo. Typical T-Mo nickel-and-diming of consumers and crippling phones to ensure it. At least, however, you can put your own ringtones and wallpapers, etc. without having to d/l via their site, a vast improvement from prior policy where even these features were disabled. One more positive note; supposedly you can view, but not edit, Word and PDF docs, as well as plain text (.txt) files, if placed in the Other Files folder. If true (I have not yet tested), this capability would make it a borderline smartphone, IMO. We could call it a "brightphone". :-)

  • Correction: apparently the text input method can be changed, however not as a permanent setting. It appears it must be done while composing a message. This is almost as bad, as it's not very user-friendly compared to simply configuring a setting once.

  • Just bought one for $100 at Wal-Mart. Decent, but it's going back. Unlocked via hypersim for use on AT&T. The good: MicroSD/Transflash up to 4 gigs MP3 sound quality excellent Nice image editor (for pics taken with cam only, not available for use with other images); almost a mini Photoshop with color correction, sharpen/blur filters, etc. Full bluetooth stack with A2DP, OBEX, and modem profiles, among others 1.3 mp cam, while considered low-end today, gives decent photo quality... and takes video too Feels good in the hand, nice and slim. Partial QWERTY takes getting used to but is better than standard keypad. Lots of tools and organizer features Call quality very good Loud ringers and tones (adjustable to suit) The bad: (dealbreakers for me) Image viewer will not utilize the full screen, there are always top and bottom bars. What the hell is the point of having a nice 2.2" screen if you can't utilize the whole thing?? On a related note, while any image file that the phone recognizes can be set to wallpaper, again it will have these stupid top and bottom bars and will only be in portrait orientation. File size limit on image files of approx 300k, but sometimes can be exceeded (presumably depends on encoding) as when taking pics from cam at full resolution (which can result in up to approx 500k files) or some image files on memory card, but not others... a common and irritating issue with Sammys. My Nokia E series can open any size image, even 5 mb ones off my digital cam! Not to mention, fullscreen them, set as landscape fullscreen wall, zoom at will, navigate from pic to pic without going back to thumbnail menu... Can only zoom, rotate, edit pics if they were taken with the cam (because they have to be in the Photos folder of the phone), these options not available in other phone folders or memory card, and cannot copy pics from memory card to Photos folder as a workaround. Even with rotate (to landscape mode), you still cannot fullscreen. Ugh! Perhaps there is a hack, but this should not be necessary to fully utilize the phone's capabilities (or to put another way, these capabilities should be standard, given the screen size). Shame on Sammy! Won't recognize .jar files on memory card so you have to either d/l via wap or (maybe... but not tested) from PC via bluetooth. But something tells me that won't work... T-Mo wants to make their profit, ya know. Gay color scheme (for a guy... maybe stylish for a woman). XT9 predictive text a royal P.I.T.A. (I like 'old fashioned' non-predictive text entry) and no way to change it. All in all, a surprisingly feature-rich phone for prepaid and at this price point, but with some tragic oversights on Sammy's part that ruin (for me) what could have been a worthwhile device. If the cons listed above don't bother you, then it may be worth considering. P.S. Being triband, you can use it overseas (though with some degree of compromise) if unlocked... if you need to access the hidden wap config menu (a problem last time I was overseas and using an unlocked T-Mo Sammy which could not be configured for wap, either manually or OTA)... punch in code *#87927# on main screen, and in Profiles menu select "web2go", then Edit, and you can then change wap/gprs parameters to those of the carrier you're using.

  • This phone looks like a Nokia... Lol...

  • i bought this fone its great took a little bit of time 2 adjust 2 semi qwerty but once i did it was aces. battry life is good camera average havent put any music on it txting is quicker than ur mom

  • it's simple phone...

  • OMG.. it's ugly and poor..! LOL

  • have any of you heard about chinese phone baoxing a100, i was planning to buy it but i am not sure of the mega pixels in. Can any of you give me some information about it if you know it . thanks:)

  • Phones not too shabby for the price. I don't like how its not sure type like the berry's but still t-9. It doesn't have wi-fi. The UI on it is great. Reminds me of the Nokia 7510. Nice toy for a decient price.

  • None of these "reviews" are helpful to me as a consumer. Has anyone that has posted on here acually owned or use this device? Come on people, if this is a review forum it's probably the WORST excuse for a review forum I have even seen. Thanks for wasting my time reading this crap, and my energy having to type this!!!!

  • I really like the colors for this phone. It's almost like a 2nd blast and the color schemes are similar [red+black opposite green+white]. There are so many similarities. Good price too haha ;D The UI looks intriguing.

  • Posts by people who misspell simple words like 'is' should be banned as well.

  • wow.. new inovation of qwerty.. but i think it's not half qwerty so user must press twice to get other word

  • why is this phone useless it's basically free with a contract and comes with a keyboard so for SMS fiends it's perfect. GREAT phone for TMO!

  • its $64 with a $50 rebate thats good for people who use phones for what they are made for TALKING

  • Posts with less then 10 words in them should be banned and auto-deleted for the simple reason that they are pointless and uninteresting to read. Other then that: the look and design of this phone i quite nice. If this phone had better prestanda, I would probably buy it.

  • The tmobile USA website says that this phone supports WiFi. Is that true?

  • very poor phone

  • useless phone

  • Hopefully these "half-qwerty" models starts a new trend spilling over to Nokia and SE aswell. I would like to think that there is a market for these beyond business-use. Personally I will keep my fingers crossed for future models with better specs though.

  • come on ............. what good is this phone for?
