Well...I can say without a doubt - this is hands down the best mobile phone I've used, and I have used a few in my time. I have dropped it numerous times, on concrete, in water, in mud. No problems. Great voice quality. It has been turned on continuously for about one and a half years now. Not even a software crash - nothing. And battery life is just poetic :D. They could have used the battery cover from B2100, though.

I had this phone for last two years, now I upgrated to lasted samsung version, but is not the same. Screen, camera etc. maybe is better, but I missing my long life battery. In my opinion it's for people who works a lot and don't have a time to think about charging. Deffinately I will buy this phone again.

4-5 hours charging from battery low is normal. I charge it at least 6 hours (8 hours often times) from battery empty. :)

I had this phone last two years ago, I was very dissapointed 'bout it, cause everytime I tried to record/video shoot on some things, it only took a second, voice recorder is also bad you can't hear a thing, Radio is weak you need use its headphone to listen to radio but still the FM signal is weak. the only good thing about this is LISTENING to your MP3 using its external speaker at the back, it's really loud and clear, and battery back up is also SUPERB, charging for few hours, and it will last for 3 straight weeks. But as I've said I was dissapointed 'bout its WEAK features (Camera, Recorder, Noise at the background while in calls) So I bought Nokia X2-00 instead, but Nokia X2-00 has poor battery back up, but other than that it's awesome

Since such models are very Rarely continued for a long time in market I purchased 2(two)Samsung Gte2370, so that when my current e2370 develops any snag (say after 2 yrs or so due to normal wear and tear),,, I always have the second one ready to serve me.... E2370 allows Taking in Middle of Noisy Traffic a Fun....Battery is good 2000mAH but would request samsung to enhance the battery to 2200mAH... Only short coming is that the model is not Water "PROOF" it's Water "Resistant". Please Samsung I request you to relaunch "MARINE" with battery of 2200mAH Capacity...Please make model's with full PROOF water,dust and Shock....Noise cancellation should be mandatory in all Mobile phones so that we can talk clearly OUTDOORS..... I am writing a review after over one year of using this phone. This was launched in India after Samsung Marine was stopped as perhaps it did not catch much of attention in the market. Key comparison parameters: E2370 Xcover Vs. B2100 Explorer..Score 2000mAH----------1000mAH.........1-0 stereo speaker---mono speaker....1-0 Internal 40MB----Internal 7MB....1-0 FM recording-----No FM Recording.1-0 640x480-noflash--CAM1.3MP+flash..0-1 IP54-------------IP57............0-1 microSD 2GB------microSD 8GB.....0-1 But the battery advantage is HUUUGE, trust me I once carried my phone on a trip for 7 days for calls, data, flashlight, kayaking videoshoots, music. When I returned I realised I had forgotten the charger back at home. Oops! I know I can't dip this in water, but won't hezitate to answer a call while raining & thats good enough for me. Too bad this small versatile phone is not waterproof, but a winner in its own strengths.

yeas their is difference between orange & silver model.. not only in color but also in design... i had the option to choose between the two & i found silver more commendable... the thing you guy's don't know that i is the best movie player... you just need proper encoder(3gp)... a full movie sizes around 70mb... and when you press the movie button it literally hangs the mobile for a minute or two... but then it plays like a breeze no lag nothing... its good to have in long travel... ^_^

Does the reception for talking for AT&T in the United States work perfect or like any ordinary AT&T cellphone? I called AT&T and they said they will support GSM 900 and 1800 but they told me that the cell phone might not work correctly since its unlocked.

i have one and using it for a year and a half. battery life is 2 weeks, rugged looking man enough. i drop it several times already still working hehehe. you can text and call under the rain. you can download underground songs and play it for long hours without worrying your battery running out and enjoy it while rafting, riding motor bike. 5 star for this fone i hope samsumg develop more of this kind say waterproof 100meters and rubber casing for more durability.

i give this phone 85%...it has an excellent battery life,i have to charge it only after two weeks...i never hesitate in answering a call even during rains...it has a fake call feature, a handy torch light, good voice reception, and an automatic off feature for the radio and audio player... the 15% that i didn't give to the phone is because it only recognizes up to 2GB memory card, has VGA cam, no wifi, and limited SMS storage space.

for me the USP of the phone is Terrefic batterry backup, voice cancellation,its bulky weight and ruggedness. Now a days cell phones are so light weight they dont give the feel while handling but e2370 gives that bulky feel which is awesome.talk time is simply amazing. Voice cancellation allows me to talk unbelievably clear even in middle of traffic. This has impressed me a lot. Would request samsung to provide voice cancellation facility in all its basic phones. Privacy lock and fake call features are very good.. Have accidently dropped the phone thrice but the phone works perfectly normal.....THANKS a lot samsung for such a good phone....

It's a simple, rock solid phone with probably the best battery time on the market. But, It's a very simple phone so if you want more than calling and messaging on it you should look for something else. The cheapest price I've found is about 50� (unlocked). Hope I've helped you somewhat!

Hi to all, If you want to use your own picture as a wallpaper, just copy the picture to phone, then go to MY File menu > Images, you will see your picture that was copied, then you can now set this picture to become your wallpaper, same with ring tones, but it only has small capacity of memory so make sure that the only thing that you will save is the one you will use..

hi, I had the same problem before. good thing it's still under warranty so I brought it to the samsung service center at S megamall. they were able to fix it. I remember bringing it on a friday, and was able to get it by tuesday or wednesday the following week. I don't know what else they did to it but when I got it, the firmware's already updated and I haven't experienced any problem with it. btw, had the same problem with my previous phone B2100. unfortunatey,it seems that the samsung tough phone "hard and tough" on the outside but "sissy" on the outside. anyway, just be sure to have all your files backed up before it finally shuts down and needs to be reflashed :)

You have to move your MP3-File to the memory of the telephone. Then you can use it as a ringtone!

My e2370 has menu labels which are distorted, these are the applications, camera, and settings which are located below. But once you highlight them, the appearance is normal. Some pictures I took have problems too, like discoloration, etc. Wallpaper 2 turned into a distorted picture. But inspite of these problems, the phone is inexcellent working condition. Battery is a-ok, ringtones, music, are still great. Reset was already done but to no avail. Hope I can get help here. thanks. also from the Philippines.

Well actually I don't intend to use it as an mp3 player,but as the ring tones are so awful on this phone I was hoping to use music from the SD card for a ring tone instead,but it's not possible with this phone unlike my last nokia,I am genuine and this phone's battery only lasts a few days longer than my nokia 3109 which is less than one tenth of the claimed time by the manufacture,yes I could have a faulty phone,but so far Samsung don't seam to want to know,their customer service is appalling unlike Nokia.

In your other comment you talk about using it as an mp3-player. It's not on standby if you listen to MP3s on it. Everyone else who has the phone talks about at least three weeks of battery life, most about more than a month. You're either not genuine or your phone is broken.

I just got the phone from Amazon and started playing around. It's been six years since my last non-touchscreen-cellphone, but I'm not going to talk about that. I have a minor correction regarding some of the reviews: the LED-light switches on even when the cellphone is locked. Apparently it didn't in older firmware versions. It doesn't switch on when the phone is off.

hi david. i'm also from manila. just encountered these weird characters just today. i tried to access a couple of trial java games that came with the phone to pass the time while waiting for dinner to be served. on the first 2 tries, i just got a message saying "java is unable to play the game". on the 3rd try, the phone restarted. when it prompted for the usual security password, there were already weird characters displayed. many of the menu labels have been courrupted. and also the screen alert texts. my questions: did you get yours fixed? how long? is it a recurring problem for you? did you ask the technicians what triggers this? and what can be done to prevent this (in the absence of a fix)? is there a bug fix update already? anyone else here who encountered the same problem? thanks!

I had the same problem it wouldn't play the same music I had on my nokia phone which were AAC files,so I converted them to MP3 in itunes and they work.

What attracted me to this phone was the tough design dual speakers,large keypad and long battery life,but it has a terrible user interface which is a lot more complicated to use than a Nokia,it has some really awful ring-tones,with nokia you can have music on the memory card which can be used as ring-tones,but the only way to do it on this phone is to transfer them onto the main memory which is only 3 MB,so unless it's very low quality it just can't be done,the same goes for pictures,the dual speakers are supposed to be for noisy environments,but in practice make no difference over an ordinary phone,the keys are smaller than they look in pictures,but because they are rubbery they are nice to press and the battery life so far has lasted 4 and a half days with 2 hours of calls and is still almost fully charged even though I never charged when new,this phone is nice and good for people that like them basic or to last a long time,but the user interface is terrible and having an mp3 player and camera is a total waste of time.

If you only need a phone for basic use,ie. telephone conversations, sending SMS messages and having a reliable device to wake you up in the morning, then this is the phone for you, look no further. It has 6 MB internal memory, but i have a 2GB SD card. I have this mobile phone for about a month. I charged it only once after 7 days i bought it. Since then it past 20 days an battery icon show 2 out of 5 bars. And i used it normaly: 7 hours talk, about 90 messeges an half an hour flashlight use. Works perfectly with my blaupunkt bluetooth car kit. The only bad thing for some of you is tha camera, because is only VGA. Personaly i don't care because i don't need it. If you have any questions about this phone i am here for you. Sorry for my bad english, cheers from Romania!

Does this phone lose the words we save while texting with predictive text? All my previous Samsungs had that problem... And I've had about 9 or so, from low to medium, to high-end phones. It was really annoying. It is the only aspect that would stop me from buying this cool (basic) mobile.

Damn, Samsung E series are just a piece of Toys, they're speakers is loud as fuck, but the thing is... it doesn't have any awesome features unlike Nokia Cellular Phones. E2370 on the other hand is quite impressive, but doesn't have any good features. Video Recording is POOR. Camera Quality is also BAD, even Voice Recorder sucks. viewing a large images through your cellphone is bad, you can't zoom in or put on landscape mode, Internet Browsing is really hard, you can't navigate where you're goin' and it also has a slight lag in browsing. On the good side, it has POWERFUL battery and it can take a weeks without charging, Built-in Speaker is Loud enough for crowded area. Speaking through Loudspeaker Function is good, they can hear your voice even if you're 10 inch away from your phone. Fake Call is really a good Feature, Mobile Tracker works great! so you don't have to worry about if your cellphone got stolen... Mine got some Software problems, I requested for a replacement on the Samsung Center. Im'ma sell my Samsung E2370 as soon as I got it, and then I'm gonna buy Nokia (not gonna tell what model/series).

The phone got some software and hardware problems. It restarts and shows a blinking logo. Samsung service center reprograms the phone and its back after a few days. Eventually the motherboard was replaced. The E-series phone issued lately also has the same problem.

got the same issue here, David. I was actually browsin' to d' Internet when this actually happened. When I start to play some videos my phone just automatically restarted. When I tried to open my MicroSD at my laptop, I found some strange weird files on my MicroSD, tried to reformat it using my Laptop (Fat32 Format). Now my cellular phone's running smoothly, but I still waitin' for further software updates. Keep up the good work SAMSUNG, thumbs up to this phone :)

Inaccurate specifications mentioned. the charger/headset connector is NOT microUSB. It is proprietry. I bought the phone due to this inaccurate detail and now have to carry 2 separate chargers for my wave and s2370... not that this one requires any charging courtesy its colossal battery... but still.. the info is inaccurate.

Ali this mobile has more than enough sound volume through loudspeaker, previously i had LG GM200 and N73 and i can say that if it comes to loudness only, N73 is 10, GM200 is 10 and E2370 is 9.5(you can say equal volume as N73) so you cannot be sad with this mobile. Actually what i felt is GM 200 have odd placement of speakers and sound through speakers is also a little treble style, but E2370 has good balanced amount of Bass and treble and last but not least you cannot deny its impressive battery timing, i have this set and 6 days are gone but battery is still showing full 5 bars, i think it will last for atleast 3 to 4 weeks. What more you need in such price tag. i wish if nokia with symbian OS make mobile phones with battery capacity like this mobile. i dont know why nokia and other manufacturers give so many features in mobiles when they dont put a sufficient battery in them, i bet if we use only half of the features in so called high profile phones like Huge Bright LCD, touch screen, 8 MP camera, Wifi, etc they definitely will not live more than half of a day.what is the meaning of mobile phone which has to be mobile means you can take along with you for without worrying about the charging. Hats off to Samsung.

No it doesn't affect battery lifespan. I do have 2Gb Memory Card, and I always use my cellular phone as my MP3 player, usually it can take 1 day of music play time with full battery charge, I dunno maybe it can take 1 day and half (I don't use earphone). And no, you can't set a MP3 ringtone from your memory card.

Hi i have just purchased Samsung E2370 mobile phone, i am quite satisfied with this phone. i didnt received any memory card in the box now i am going to purchase a memory card (micro SD 1 GB) for mobile, but before using it i would like to ask one thing because the best thing i like in any mobile phone is its battery timings, my mobile phone is capable of standby of approx. 600hrs as per website. Although the standby time i actually got is 5 days in case of moderate use, my query is that what will happen when i will use a micro SD 1 GB memory card with mobile phone how much would that reduce my mobile phone battery standby or talk time? and one more thing does capacity of memory card affects battery timings too? let me tell you about my guessed access of memory card, i normally keep my current ringtone & wallpaper in phone internal memory cause i know every time phone rings or all the time phone use wallpaper, it access memory card. i use memory card for storing MP3 music which i rarely or 15 to 20 minutes a day listen at late night. In that case please tell me exactly what percentage of battery timing will be affected?

Hi it's me again, it's been a long time since I visited this site. I visited here again to tell you guys that I actually bought this unit at Mall of Asia, Mega Exchange (Philippines) 4 months ago. At first, I'm actually happy that I have my first new Cellular Phone. I record video more often, but the problem is after I played the video it just restarted without any reason at all. I thought it was just a minor glitch or somethin'... that's not just the glitches I found on my phone, my messages changes to a special characters, I can't read them at all (some characters contains = │¢°ÆÜ?) this happened 2 months ago. And now after 4 months of using my phone, my cellular phone just corrupted. After I played some Application on my phone (Game from GLOBE [EA Games Worms]), it just restarted again, same as what happens when I opens a video file, but this time it didn't start anymore, it just hangs up there, it can't even reboot. So I decided to go back to the mall, and let them fix it (One Year Warranty). Now I have to wait for 3 days without any communication device :( I got this game on my phone for about a weeks ago before this happens. So guys, be very careful on your Receipt or any Proof of Purchase, cuz this might just happens to you too... (this isn't a joke)

For all Samsung E2370 users may be you know about this, this mobile has a very interesting feature Fake call if you are in meeting and want to leave and show them you are receiving a call, press and hold down key for a while or if your mobile is keypad locked press down key four times and see the magic you will receive a fake call.

got this phone to replace my xenium 9&9k. initial impressions: - reminds me of the waterproof nokia units (the one in black/orange or black/blue) - phone is a bit bulky but comfortable to hold - very good stereo speakers (loud enough to hear even if inside my bag) and vibrate functions - excellent sound quality when using bluetooth (i've tried plantronics and jabra) - flashlight is good - interface is actually very similar to my old philips and samsung d780 very good and happy with it so far, i hope the battery's as good as advertised.

These icons are just indicators for missed calls and unread SMSes when phone is locked, it has nothing to do with the power-save mode. You cannot remove them, but if you disable auto keypad lock, they will not appear anymore and you still have power-save mode on. You can enable/disable keypad lock only when needed by long pressing * key.

This is a beautiful phone. I got it for INR 2800 (about $65). The battery is just awesome big. The headphones are pretty good for a phone at this price but you can get them exchanged for a better one. No problems so far except inserting the memory card - which i ultimately figured out from the manual. Great job Samsung - hope this one lasts long.

why don't you try to buy a USB connector for your PC, and you can download any wallpaper you want from Internet to PC then to your Cellphone. Samsung E2370 supports JPEG Wallpapers with 128x160 Dimension.

Li-Ion cells capacity reduces by time,even if you d'ont use them!Another thing is the charger knows better than you what to do and when,and the battery has three protection circuits to avoid overcharging, overdischarging and heating.In conclusion,charge your phone fully and use it until demans recharging!Fast chargers wears off battery more than anything!So buy a special charger if you want 5 years of battery life.

Just a friendly tip: - If your Battery reaches 1 bar, charging it in full 1 hour and 45 minutes is enough. Despite the fact, that charging all cellphone batteries to full may shorten battery life. So leave at least 1 bar...

i saw this phone when it was released few months ago, i was hesitant to buy this cause i thought it's just another same old phone na nagsasabi na waterproof pero hindi naman tumatagal sa tubig. then i saw this phone sa instructor ko sa swimming and it is awesome. imagine we were in the water for more than 2 hours and that phone is on and off in the water and my instructor is even using it. nag tetext pa sa ilalim ang tubig and tumatawg pero the phone still works. and the speaker is clear even in water and even it's camera. so right now, I am so freaking desperate to buy this phone.. hahaha

I�ve recently bought the E2370 and previously thought that it was an upgraded version of the B2700, but the �E� designation classified it as an essential phone. I was even more surprised of the long stand-by time considering that shock resistant phone has ample spaces inside to absorb bumps and fall to protect electronic components. My one month use of the phone proves the claim of the manufacturer, except for the shock proof claim as I don�t want my unit scratched just to prove the specs. It is adequate for phone calls and SMS. The music player is an added feature but I just wished that it has an equalizer to compensate for varying mp3 encoding. For browsing or multimedia connection, the screen may be inadequate to serve its purpose due to the small screen and limited connectivity. It�s large and heavy, the trade off of having a durable and lasting phone. Nevertheless, it�s a dream phone for everyday use and you don�t have to worry about the battery life and usual bumps and fall. I highly recommend this, unless you want your phone to be all encompassing assistant and entertainment you dreamt of.

Remember that the numbers they give here pertaining to the battery longevity/life are- 1.standby time- the length of time the phone can stay on WITHOUT ANY use and, 2.average talk time which is the length of time you can use the phone for calling/talking from a single full battery charge. Needless to say, the battery life of your phone depends on how much you actually use it and what features you use.. the figures are just there to give you an idea of how strong the battery is..

This phone has 1 software issue. Try creating groups in Contact option. The moment u start adding members in the indivisual groups..(let's say u create 5 groups), all the members in the groups get mixed up...which shuldn't happen. I am sure this is a software issue, if not, can any help me out oversome this issue...I wud be really obliged to you guys.

Ultimate phone with good amount of talk time. i must say that this is the first model ever manufactured in the world which has a tremendous amount of battery back up / power.The battery is of 2000 mAh instead of conventional 800 / 900 / 1000 mAh. Surprisingly, the battery is heavier than the handset alone and this hot selling handset is the favourite amongst people who are travellers...(as they always face problems in looking for charging points). iam From Hyderabad, Got the mobile yesterday at jagadeesh market, after bargain i got it for Rs.2750/-, pretty impressive, though its bulky but i got the exact dimensions that ive been looking for, since its rugged and non Delicate. :) most of all u can be care free about this piece, i was looking for long lasting battery and along with i got some extra added fancy features and i took it..... Bottom line iam very impressed with the mobile, i guess for my usage i dont have bother about charging the battery atleast for couple of weeks.

I have E2370 for 2 days. I don't know about how long its exact standby time but Germany official Samsung site says it is 67 days. The phone is made in Korea. The sound quality is surprisingly very high as it is a basic phone.

I prefer the samsung b2100 better. Even if this phone can hold 20 hours talktime and the samsung b2100 only 9 hours, the samsung b2100 has a better camera 1.3mp. They both have flashlights but I think the samsung b2100 is more"tough" because this has only ip54 protection and samsung b2100 has 1p57 certification which means it can be submerged in water. This phone can only manage splashes. But the advantage of this phone over samsung b2100 is the 2000mah battery.I lie the battery of this phone!

resistance is only ip54 battery is big but we all know - philips xenium works longer. severe phone :)
