Today Will be the second time in 2010 i have taken my phone in for repairs...As Soon as i get it back...I will sell it..It cant go on like that... Problems it gave me - When i slide down or up, screen goes blank Menu button stops working Cancel button stops working Speaker did not work Phone not reading sim card Randomly Restarts Just want to let all G800 Users know that if your phone does go blank...What i did untill today will help you to a certain point.. Slide Your Phone up slowly DO NOT SLIDE IT DOWN AGAIN -if you do it will go blank then you must remove the battery and then put a coin on those 3 connectors.. then wait a few minutes..then put the battery in again.. Sometimes sliding the phone down in the middle will also help to display an image....

I've had this phone for over 2 years with no problems so far. Eventually though all phones die and I'm sure this is discontinued now. Can anyone recommend an upgrade? It doesn't necessarily have to be a Samsung as long as it's easy to use an reliable. thanks

i used this phone for two yrs and was happy with it. the camera was the best. for great pics, use the SCENE mode. U knw thr is camera, scene and camcorder. once u on the scene mode u can choose a desired setup like nightmode, sport,etc. fireworks was my best option and u will c that the flash will not dim ur pics anymore. G800 is a good phone. bt now im using the incredible 12 megapixel sony ericsson satio...simply the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far I was using this handset last over 1 yr and working fine.But last month I faced a problem,while I was opened sliding instantly there was nothing in screen.Form service center they informed me I need to change the ribon(its a small 2 feet panel).Most common thing is camera isn't good enough as 5 mega pixel.

I just got this phone and had it unlocked to use on the Rogers network in Canada. I have put in the network settings and everything seems to be working correctly except on thing. Whenever i try to download anything off the net like Facebook bookmark, or opera mini when i click on the download link, it says The requested page cannot be displayed. Is there a setting that needs to be change or is there another way to get these on the phone, i would like to be able to have google, gmail, facebook, etc easily accessable Thanks

This is an all too common problem. It's been that way since I originally purchased the Samsung G800 2 years ago. It seems to work fine when you're transferring files one at a time, but this takes forever if you have a few music files, photos etc. Best thing to do would be to purchase a MicroSD card (2gb card on Play.com is just £5), and use a card reader to transfer properly. It literally took me about 30 seconds to transfer about 50 pictures which would have taken about an hour using PC Studio.

Hi all, Can anyone help me out? Ive had my samsung G800 for over 2 years and has always worked fine. Now though it wont pick up a signal, just says No Service all the time. Have tried manually searching for the network but wont find any, let alone vodafone. Maybe the aerial is damaged? 11 months old, the screen was not working. samsung repaired it replacing the cable. two months later, same problem. now out of warranty, so fighting to get them to fix it again. Definitely wont be getting another samsung.

I posted a comment on the 2009-05-09 13:50 about how I wasn�t sure if I was going to go back to use my D600. Well I didn�t. 7months on I�m using my D600 because the screen isn�t working on the G800. I had the cables and screen replaced about 3 months ago and now I can�t see anything on the screen. I love this phone and the camera is brilliant and really don�t want to change it but I�m going to have to as the screen is beyond repair. Anyone looking for a phone that is easy to use and has everything this is the phone, the battery life is short I was charging mine every day but then I changed the backlight settings and the phone charge can hold for 2-3days now. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with the screen and how it was repaired if it was repaired.

Hey marius, go to camera mode, press that right softkey for the settings, scoll to MODE and choose SCENE, scoll down to your desired scene, e.g LANDSCAPE,TEXT, NIGHT MODE,FIREWORKS, SPORTS, DUSK etc. fireworks and text modes work wonders for me. gimme yr email addresss and i will send u the samples. by the way, the red lines on my screen are gone. i took the fone to Vodacare in DBN and they replaced the screen without charging me a cent

hi...i had a problem with this phone after having it for a period of close to two years, it just went completley blank...apparently it was the LCD and contrast, but i managed to have it fixed after a long time. otherwise its a great phone to have but not quite happy with the photos unless when printed!

Hi Dimakatso, Deeza and Anonomous, i had a bad experience with my G800, The charger/ USB "plug" broke off from the Motherboard. The phone is still under warranty, yet Vodacom and Samsung refuses to replace the phone. Due to this, i will never ever buy any Samsung product again. The phone was working good until it developed problems exactly round 1.2 years later.. Started with the screen, usb connectivity issues. And samsung service here is really really really bad. First they changed the cable ie the screen cable.. 2 months later cos of screen problems they changed it again... next time screen issue happened they changed the screen and cable too... forgot to mention as it was beyond a year i had to pay for all changes.... later i had issue with Bluetooth (A2DP)gets disconnected on call... whew makes me really think was this worth the money i spend on it 2 years ago... not to mention countless hours waiting at Samsung service center... Honest im not really happy with this phone.. though i've maintained it really well. :-(

my wife bought me a G800 almost 2 year ago, and i never (i mean never) had a single problem with it. its a fine example of Samsung's engineering ingenuity. only thing i could possibly wish for is a brighter flash for night time photography. i bough my wife a Nokia 6500 slide, which is a nice phone as well, but would hang and automatically shut itself down now and then. i guess i'm the winner ;)

To Wiseman, I believe you need to change the RIBBON or sometimes they call it FLEX cable of your phone. everytime you try to slide up/down your phone the RIBBON/FLEX gets thinner and thinner

You need to get your phone unlocked in order to use it at your current residence as it is locked to the previous network that you were using before you moved to NewZealand! Hope this helps

Hi, my handset charger broke, now the phone is "beyond econimical repair". i purchased the G800 in April 2008 on a contract plus i had to pay in R1200(+/- $180.00), a lot of money for a South African. Samsung S. A. says that it becuase of abuse, yet my phone has never been dropped or even scratched. Is there anyone out there with a similar problem?

Try removing the sim lock from the phones security settings, if that doesn't work, try upgrading your sim to 128 UMT!

I bought this phone early this year and i haven't had any problems with it. This phone has great features if you know how to use them, e.g. HSDPA and 5 megapixel Camera. You can hook it up to a PC/Laptop via USB cable and start surfing the net.

I have had my G800 for almost a year now and would like to share my experiences with it. As for the camera. It is a much better camera than you will find in most cell phones. HOWEVER, it WILL NOT provide you the quality/crispness of a dedicated digital camera (even a lower end digicam). As for the phone and its features, I have found the Bluetooth functionality to be indispensable not only for transferring files, but its connection to a headset is great as well. Overall, I will say that it is a great phone with amazing build quality. My only gripes that I can think of are that the screen gets washed out in sunlight, and the inability to read incoming text messages while on a call. That last point has become a frustrating one to me. You can SEND messages while in a call, but you cannot read received messages while in a call. If you are looking for a great phone that takes better than average pictures, and has REAL bluetooth to computer connectivity then I would quickly recommend this phone. If you are a heavy texter then I would suggest that you look at other options. -Jeremy

bull...,got this phone fo over a year.works GREAT.perfect camera.i can say its better than most stand alone cameras.the slider construction is also perfect (it survived many falls on da floor).battery great,stereo speakers great and so on...if u want high quality and like takin photos this is no mistake.but no wifi,so consider if u really need it.

Hey Selinah. just try to set the network mode to GSM 900/1800 it should work. just go to settings, then network settings, then network mode. set it to GSM 900/1800 then restart the phone.

I've had my phone for about 14 months now. It was an exceptional instrument until recently when it recorded "No Service". At first I thought twas the service provider's fault, but only realised that the problem is with the instrument itself. I called Samsung Technologies and was advised to take it in because the network Card needs to be upgraded ... So be on the lookout. your network cards would need upgrading soon. otherwise this is the best phone I've ever had in my life. Unlike other phones, its battery life is incredible. I still charge the phone once a week, even after 14 months of use? I don't care what anybody says, this is the best phone ever!!!

I only charge my G800 twice a week, and the battery lasts even when playing music, sending files through Bluetooth, and everything, I am texting 24/7 and the battery lasts. In terms of hours I can�t actually tell you sorry, hope this helps.

The sound quality is fine on phonecalls. I'd give it 3 out of 5 when used as an MP3 player, but this is increased to 4 out of 5 when you use the headphones.

Have been more than content with this phone, the screen did however give problems after 6 months of having it but was fixed within 10 working days and havent had any problems since. It is a little larger in size than i expected but i have found it to be exceptionally durable and therefore not half as sensitive as most petite phones i have had in the past.

Hi all, I brought this phone the other day, I�m not sure if I like it or not, the phone was built up (in other reviews) to be the best phone out. I have received it and don�t think the phone is excellent like I expected, I have gone from my Samsung D600 to the G800 and I�m seriously considering going back to the D600. The main problem is the phone is massive like a brick. If you are on pay as you go then every time you send a text and your credit is shown the phone makes a noise and does this even in silent mode the only way to stop it is if you change to contract. Also when the battery is dead it makes a noise and makes the noise in silent mode. If anyone has experienced this and knows how to stop please can you post it.

i have a unit since february and haven't experience any problem regarding the unit. thanx for my fren bcoz he told me what to do regarding its pix problem.. correct settings is just needed.. its like ur using a digital camera. -maybe if i have 1 thought for a problem is.. hmm its not easy to upgrade the firmware.. service center in your area can do the thing. its complicated if you try. battery life at me is 5days with minimal phone calls and a session of text messaging. video call is tested and okay.. -oh i have a comment.. my unit, since 1st use.. didnt has any special letters like '�'.. is this normal as you buy the unit?

This phone is total crap, lasted alright for the first few months untill the screen started to go dim and eventually started freezing then all the colour bled and was useless, around the same time the fone stopped charging, went into repair, all fixed but the battery wont last a day... and the phone just keeps freezing.. about the only useful thing for this phone will be a doorstop...

This is a terrible phone. the battery does not last longer than one day. I've sent this phone in for various repairs(Battery life short, not charging, display faulty). All of these were repaired except the battery life problem. My phone is going in again for repairs. This phone is like Shabir Shaik...it has spent more time in hospital than in my prison...I will never buy another Samsung phone. I will stick to the Nokia phones in future. The camera, btw, is not so good in low light conditions.

The Samsung G800 is an amazing phone, my dad was the first to have it i liked it so i bought one too now my sister has one, the cameras exceptional 5MP 3x Optical zoom xenon flash face detection red eye reduction and more, the sounds doesnt go veeery loud but its OK, Has good menu, rare problems great design and good features. I was very happy to wait 2 months, because they had to bring it from head office. Once received, i experienced it as a very heavy phone - but later on we connected. 6 months later my phone did not want to charge anymore. Send it in for repairs, 6 weeks later i received my phone which i thought was a little error of replacing the connection of the charger.Standing in the sun i saw technician fingerprint on my screen inside and my original cover did not fit because they changed the back as well. Was very upset because there was nothing wrong with my screen nor the back. My cover over the phone actually cracked afer a day. 2 months later my LCD screen said bye bye. So im not impressed with this phone...at all

Hi I managed to find the code to make the volume louder and it works!!! 1) Type *#0002*28346# 2) It will bring up a menu: [1] Load Params [2] Dump Params [3] Call Config 3) Press Back, and it will bring up another longer menu 4) Key in 3 to bring up SPK Config Menu 5) Then key in 4 to bring up AV-QTune(MP3) menu 6) Key in 1 to bring up SPK MP3 Vol. menu 7) Key in 6 to change the max. volume 8) Input 40 and press OK, it will change to 4.0db default max. volume is -3db. I wouldn't recommend higher than 6.0db because the sound will distort, anything lower will be fine. 9) Once done, press cancel to close the service menu and try to play a mp3 with max. volume. This volume apply for your MP3 Ringtones and Message tones.

Had this phone for almost a yr now, havent had any problems. my only problem is the battery lasts all of one day. although most new phones are like that coz of all the features. Have to charge it every night. The camera is great, but nokia cameras of the same megapixels seam to be better. and its quite chunky, but all this considered, i still love the phone. easy to navigate, excellent large screen and good speakers for sound. recommended.

Just bought this phone on one a forum in Asia. At first i was a bit disappointed on the shutter speed of the phone when capturing but later on get a hang out of it by adjusting some of the settings.. Here in Philippines, the 3G connection of the phone is stable. Also, the speed is fast.. I think that may depend on the provider. The specifications of the phone may depend on the user's requirement. I bought this because of it's HSDPA compatibility and 3G connection speed.

I had this phone for about 2 weeks when one day it stopped getting reception completely. The next day it worked for a couple hrs and then stopped again. I sent it in and had the phones software resetted, tried the different band settings to no avail and i was told it was an antennae problem and i would have to sent it overseas to get it fixed. I went overseas and to my suprise, the phone worked perfectly in asia.. Does anyone know what would prevent it from working in the states, when it works perfectly in asia? it's crap...don't buy it. For one it's heavy, hard to sms ie/use the keypad. the volume is not very good (the person on the other end can't hear you very well). the camera is ok but i feel like i'm carrying a small brick around.

Mob is pretty good. Value for money(at least now). Photos are really good.. Needs some tweaking for better performance. Only setback is volume is bit less, however audio quality of FM/Mp3s played on the mob are good. Internet access has no problems, bluetooth performance is also good. No problems while reading external memory (Mine is 2 Gb). MP4 videos are something else - plays pretty good on the phone. Slider has no issues; i feel it could have been better if it was a bit more tougher(less of play). In short im happy. :-)

I have this phone almost for one year now. The battery life is still 3 days when talking all day long and navigating on Internet. If I use the media player than it is highly probably that the battery will last only one day. Other than that on a smooth use the battery might last up to 6 days. The pictures taken by the camera are great on daylight but kind of poor in the darkness...not too bad but not too great either. It is very solid built and looks very good. It is also very durable and I honestly recommand this phone. Another disadvantage might be the size, a liitle bit too big but then again...want a serios phone or 'girly' phone!? :)

Hey AVOID THIS PHONE... New out the box... switched on, all fine, resume from standby and screen goes all weird and cannot be returned to normal unless you do a reset. Phone returned and swapped out for another handset... same problem. Returned second phone and asked MTN to test the replacement in the shop, SAME PROBLEM. to put it back to its default settings just reboot the phone dude...it works. cos the settings a gave is just for test. enjoy your phone. try out the n82 of nokia also..just got mine. it exceeded my expctation. perfect combo Carl Zeiss optics, xenon flash. pics are way better than our g800. still have my g800 coz i love the design. but features are really not that empressive. no wifi, camera if its your 1st 5mp cam then its good. but after you tried SE and nokia.. you'l forget about it. havnt tried the innov8 though..im expcting alot from it. cant wait to get my hand on it.

(all will be set to 25.5) then back 3 times. press "3" for SPK config and "3" again for AV-Qtune(mp3) then "1" for Vol. press "0" and enter 400 and hit ok.(400 corrsponds as the volume) do the same on other numbers on a decnding manner. exmple: 0=400, 1=350, 2=300, 3=250.... actually i find the camera at 1st lousy..but while i tried playing w/ it..i dscoverd alot of good stuffs. use scene when taking pics. always turn on the flash while taking pics. even daytime..that actually turns on the anti shake. during night use fireworks or nightmode for better pictures and during day..txt or party indoor will do as long as the flash is on! try it ot..even object is moving as long as flash is on..it will be crystal clear image..no blurs or fading. peace out.,

I do not understand why this phone has many icons linked to the internet and no matter how you block the keypad it just remain functionnable. This matter cost me last month �73 on web surffing while I do not know that I accidentaly pressed the internet keypad. My network Tmobile were so nasty that they did not want to understand my claim. So guys be very careful with this phone as it may cost you more than you have paid for it

dont buy nokia 6500 slide its d WORST PHONE ever produced. i gt my one replaced 3 times, in each case i recieved brand new 6500 slide and it still kept having the same problems ( switching off by its self, freezing, nt reading conntacts or memory card. I m also using this phone since last ten months and the battery time did'nt put me in panic like you.The battery time as stand bye(when its fully charged) is more than 5 days, and when in use (talk time) gives up to 48 hours when its starts discharging. This is by far the worst battery ive ever had on a phone, it stays on 2/3 bars for 90% of the time, then after 10 mins on 1/3 bars its bleeping 'low battery'. pile of w*nk. im going back to sony ericsson.

Dont go for the "to pc" option. You'll end up downloading .jad/.jar files. Go for "to mobile", and type in the provided link on your phone browser, and follow the instructions. EXAMPLE: for the game "5ud0ku" (from the list of free games), type in your phone browser. Also for you info, G800 supports java games, I have downloaded at least 15 of them from the mentioned website, and they all are working.

nice idea of optical zoom. briliant picture quality, nice looks but lets face it, not going win awards for be a brick. too heavy and too bulky. i know its hard to fit all that hardware in a small shape. unfortunately you cant have optical zoom in a thin phone not possible.

I have had this phone now for about 2 weeks and it is great.. the looks of this phone is outstanding and the camera is awsome(in day light) although it may be quiet bulky i happen to like it. the speakers play music crisp and clear but the only thing is that it needs to be way louder. i don't even notice if it is ringing and forget about listening to your music. I dont no if its just my phone but its battery life is actual pretty goodwell better that what i thought. Overall this is the best phone i have ever had and not just because i got this fone for ONLY $200 unlocked from craigslist

Had the phone for 3 weeks and I found the speaker on the SAMSUNG G800 is very soft.(compared to my old D500) I am also having problems with the sync to my PC Calender, not all the appointments get stored as you can only have 100 appointments, so instead of giving you the option to only store appointments fo the next 2 months, it automatically stores only one appointment per day. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PHONE! I saw on the news a story about a man who was outside on a sunny day with this phone and the sun reflected off the phones super shiney surface and blinded the person next to him. Beware. On the plus side though, the phone is so fat and heavy (the perfect "brick" phone IMO) you could use it as a weapon, in case anyone tried to steal your handbag you could bonk them on the head and knock them out =)

I have both Nokia n95 8gb & Samsung g800..G800's lacks power when it comes to listening music via loud speakers compare to the n95 8gb (n95 8gb have very loud speakers)..If you scale it from 1-10 i will give the g800 a 5/10 & n95 8gb 10/10 when it comes to loud speaker performance "when listening to music".. By the way i also own a samsung d900 & u600, both of them to are louder than the g800's..If you want to find out go buy them or test them to the nearest dealers..

I have this cellphone since april 2008 and in 3 months of using this mobile i have noticed that its LCD started to blurred and later there is nothing that i can see in the screen. but still it can received text messages and calls. the problem is the LCD display. Its kinda disappointing coz i thought its good and durable, well at first its very handy and most of the time i used my phone as my modem to connect to the internet so far so good... until this day... I tried to do the master reset but it doesn't help anyway... the next time around i promised to my self when i bought a mobile phone i'll buy sony ericson or nokia (even if it is hot with viruses) as long as my display still working properly... This phone sucks...

I've had this phone eversince February and I think it's JUST okay. The camera is tremendous! The front camera sucks ass. You won't be able to video call unless your in the 3G area. First charge should be between 4-5 hours or left overnight. Not too sure about the gaming format but you should be able to download them.

GSM arena should update the review, I bought this G800 with the fear that's true about the memory card reading, so far it works normal with a 2GB card. It's not the best 5MP cam phone but it's sure the best slider phone I've ever used unlike my N95 8GB wich was a bit lose when I recieved it, this isn't. only drawback is that reception is kinda pain in the ass. I prefer a cheap nice looking phone with somewhat features rather than an expensive, nice looking phone with less features like the motorola v9

wow i thought. what a phone. optical zoom. and all. but its not the best picture. shocking. in recent reviews on this site. it aint all that shame on you samsung. next time try karl zeiss. like N95. still best cam phone. im a LG person personally. its just carl zeiss lenses are top. i wish someone would make a mobile cam phone with a Leica lens then we have mobile photography sorted at last. just need to concentrate on CCD's and image processing then.

Everyone who's having problems with this phone, don't be scared to play around with it. I got one today and been on it since I got it. Everyone seems to say that they have a problem with getting the face detection feature working or they just can't find it. It's one of the options when you're in the camera. Just go in options and find it there. Come on people, explore the phone.

I am very happy with this phone. My problem is I can't connect this phone to PC using its software. Also when connecting with other phones via Bluetooth, it is too slow. Make no mistake this phone is good. When fully charged, I once played music for 3hours non-stop and I still had all the bars of battery.

It probably depends on which network you're with (and whether they are 3G, 4G etc), and which network settings the phone is configured to. Where did you buy it from? If you get it from a dealer it will be configured to their network settings, so that even if you unlock it the 'net won't work with another provider until you configure it.

I purchased this phone today. I have already discovered some faults with the software, whilst playing with the phone at work. The first fault is with the camera settings. When you initially powerup the phone and change the camera settings you are able to turn anti-shake on. When i powercycled the phone and checked the settings it was set to off. The anti-shake option is then greyed out and you are not able to scroll up on it. Also when you try and turn on 'wide dynamic range' and save it. It does not retain the setting. Factory reset does not solve the issue. The camera on this phone is ordinary. It does not perform well in low lights. As other have mentioned pictures taken looks ok when viewing it on the phone, as soon as you take the picture it turns out dark and blurry. The xenon flash also makes the item darker in low light or too bright close up. My previous 3.2M camera phones have taken better pictures! Hopefully i can get a replacement handset or an exchange first thing in the morning..... On the upside. I think this phone is not too bulky. It's just the right size, it fits well on one hand. easy to operate. It also looks professional.

I know most WiFis are blocked with passwords and you cannot use it unless you are in an unsecured spot (pls correct me if I am wrong) and you cannot connect your phone if it is on a secured spot because you always asked for a password. So HSPDA is the best because you can always use your phone with fast connection unlike WiFi, maybe you are paying HSPDA with this feature but you pay less because it is fast (HSPDA is available on a specific countries). So could you identify between the difference from Wifi and HSPDA?

Had this phone for 'bout 3 months now. Tried to get rid of it, provider wouldn't take it back. I have not managed to take a single decent photo with it. Tried all profiles and settings to no avail. Flash is useless. Most camera settings do not stick between sessions: turn it off, and you have to re-set it again. Not a 7.2 HSDPA as advertised, but only 3.6--and very lousy at that too (Samsung should be sued for false advertising). All in all, a complete disaster. Stay away from it, stay away from Samsung.

I also hate the phone. The picture quality is not good. Phones with only 1mp takes better pics than my 5mp. The flash makes the pics dark. The flash go's off and a second later the shutter to take the photo. I have tried everything to change it. Photos are blurry. Don't take it!!!!!

Samsung G800 brief review 1- This is the first time I ventured our of the Nokia phones and I must say I am quite delighted to own a G800. 1. Menus are fast and responsive. Not sluggish like symbian powered phones. Not sure what custom OS G800 is running. 2. Voice clarity. Good volume controls. You can even take Memo notes while your friends tell you about "where-to-reach-for-the-party-tonight" 3. Messaging in legible and easy. T9 mode is a breeze. I must say I found it better than Nokia . Seems intuitive enough. 4. Call log is very useful. You can known exactly how many times your uncle called you in past 2 weeks. 5. Camera 5Mp is very responsive and decent results . However as with all mobile cameras, low light spoils the show. Video recording is remarkable. Its a full fledged digital camera. (more on that in later reviews) 6. Internet browser from Netfront is a ROCK. It just wont crash !. Surfed at Edge speeds with ease. The browser smartly reconstructs web pages to fit your mobile screen. (more on that in later reviews) 7. FM radio is very good reception. 8. Music player is decent. Good audio quality. Headphone however are not standard interface :( 9. Exclusive menu for GOOGLE search! 10. Bluetooth (more on this in later reviews.) is power packed. Almost all profiles supported. 11. Security - Mobile tracker. anybody seen this issue on G800 : You get message from known contact in address book, say "john". check message, it detects sender is "john". No problem so far. Switch off and switch on your phone, and go to messaging application-->Inbox. Only "john"'s mobile no. is displayed and name is no more displayed. also, No way of deleting "delivery receipts"?? automatically. You need to search of '0B' messages.

I have started using this phone on Tuesday. This is hell of good phone! 5 megapixel camera, what more can I ask for. I don't need a digital camera anymore, i have it with me. Another thing is that it never gave me problems connecting to internet, I use it as a modem on my Pc to connect to internet. Had this phone 2 weeks now and it is fantastic. Only thing is for fast fingered texting its hard as there seems to be a slight delay and usually end up making sense so press slowly and you have to change your input text everytime you send a sms. Other than that cannnot fault it

From what I am reading, K850i is ranking last as far as 5 mega pix camera shots. Is this true? I have read GSM arena, etc. and they are putting N82, N95, and Samsung G800 ahead, Why? CNet actually puts K850 above. Is there any personal users of these phone i mentioned with there opinions?

Absolutely love the phone so far, can't stop looking at it haha. The biggest issue for me is the short battery life. I usually have to charge it every two days and i don't even use it that much. Also, when it hits one bar of battery left - i usually have to turn the phone off because if i leave it on for another hour, it most likely run out of batteries as it has done before

Q2/ how to change the left and right soft keys assignments?? Mine is set to `Message' and 'Internet'. I've seen phone reviews with `Menu' and `Contacts A2/ Sim free Samsungs have "Menu' and `Contacts" where as Network branded (for example Vodafone) Samsungs usually have the right soft-key as Internet, (Vodafones case is V-Live) Hope this Helps.

I just got this phone 4 days ago and am really liking it so far, its not the smallest I've ever had but I knew that before I chose it. Chose it mainly for the camera and the music player. which is excellent. camera zoom very good and great picture qual. with built in editing options! Its easy to use and sleek to hold. I've only got average size petite ladies hands and have no probs texting one handed as with prev smaller phones. andy alix to alex- yes the phone does have vibrate and ring at the same time to alix- the pros of this phone is that it is very stylish. 3x optical zoom. 5 mp camera. very large screen. you can used secondary camera to take pictues. cons are that the phone is too thick. the camera picture quality is lower when you take a photo with flash. very laggy. and thats about it. its a very nice phone. i recomend you go for it

just got this phone today. had it for 6 hours now. very happy so far. i was expecting a brick but it turns out to be a very good size. very slim. feels solid when you hold it. so i think it has at least 10 drops in it before breaking.. menu is easy to navigate. phone mode is great. loud and clear. speakers ok. camera. very good. flash is great. took some photos in the basement and turns out very well. didnt change any settings. everything was auto.. I can definately see the difference 2 mega pixel makes comparing the pix to the ones i took with my old phone. "k800i, which was very good till the fifth drop. which killed it. and sand gets in to the external ports if you take it to the beach." i have not charged the batery. it was factory charge?? had about five 10mins calls, play around with it for a few hours. took over 100 photos. the batery is still on full. maybe it will last forever??? without a charge. my conclusion. this phone is great. if you want somthing that: make calls, texts. take nice club pics for facebook uploads and shit, with out having to carry a digital camera around. thats what i want and thats what made me bought it.. maybe its good as an mp3 player too but i didnt get earphones with it. gotta buy that sht.. yeah. good phone. mine came with a free 2gig generic mem card.

in my opinion as a photographer, this is a good camera. nice idea of optical. but the shutter lag is a big let down. shame as this would of made a perfect camera phone. so i would get K850i. ok you lose face detection and optical zoom. but the picture is no different and no shutter lag, makes the K850i my choice.

Its normal for pictures to come dark after the flash, my 10 mp camera does the same thing and so did all the other cameras ive tried.

The camera on this phone is great. The flash is excellent and absolutely bright. The pictures rarely get blurred and i have not yet experienced any problems with this phone and ive had it for 3 months now

keypads are very very very stiff!!!!! make its hard for me to finish a single message okay now im trying to bear that. My Concern is when i take a shot in a low light area with the Flash ON, it suddenly turns out all dark after .. even worst without having the flash. This happens except when you have an object protuded a person whatsoever but everything behind turns all black and the object is the only thing seen in light. The bad thing about it is when you try to picture a room or a lanscape view you wont see anything. Light effects is very black and white. Can anyone assist with the settings? Have tried to change it a bit but indeed it doesnt take effect or gets even worst. Help =)

I think this is a very good phone apart from the camera quality considering it is suppose to be a 5mp, I think its more like a 2mg one, I have looked at other 5 mg ones and they are far better in this feature. ok, i got this phone yesterday, it looks very sexy, but is kinda hard to slide open because of its sheer size. however, for this small package, the features you get are well worth it. it doesnt look like it would take a lot of abuse, but if you're careful with it, should be fine. i owned a samsung F300, and a D500 before that, and the screen is amazing. speakerphone could be a little bit louder tho. texting is a breeze, with a big screen and big buttons. the only bad thing that i've noticed so far is that you cant change the idle screen soft buttons, which really pisses me off bcuz i dont want a shortcut to the messages

Most networks don't even support 7.2 mbs yet so it theoretical at this point! It does support it but you might have to wait a year or more for them to upgrade. Most networks might skip this upgrade altogether and go straight to the 3.9 G standard at 20 mhz. SO don't buy this phone for the 7.2 HSDPA, its academic and you will never achieve this speed in the real world.

I bought myself the G800, I love it, it really performs but yes, the battery life is very, but very poor. It will last you about 3-4days if you don't text too much and not taking photo's. But further on, its a great phone. Manufacturers should really take a look at the G800's battery, make it last longer.

Andy if you're really into photography, I wouldn't recommend getting any mobile phone with a camera no matter how many megapixels. A camera on a phone will always have to compromise something. I have the Samsung G800 and love it, but the camera doesn't handle well in low light, even with the flash. You can never do better than a purpose built digital camera. this is good to have for the odd occasion you're caught without a camera but won't replace it for quality & speed of use. I got this because it has HSDPA internet & a decent camera & music player. if I want to take good pics I use a different camera.

Having been a Sony E owner since cell phones were availabe I have taken this big step and got the G800. (For the camera - which I don't think is much better than the 2MP of the Sony E. )Had it for a few hours. I am totally disappointed that there is not speed dial facility. What a shame. Also, having to get my head around the Samsung way of doing things is difficult for me. My husband has the Sony E 910i and it is slim, easy and gorgeous.

Avoid this handset at all costs! The speicification looks great if you want a handset that can take pictures. Unfortunately it doesn't live up to expectations. Just about all pictures are blurred and the 'shutter' is so slow that the subject has moved by the time it takes the picture. The annoying thing is that the preview picture generally looks fine. All indoor photos are absolutely terrible, and yes, I have changed the settings eventhough I would expect Auto to suffice. Tried to swap the device but I'm now out of my 14 day return date. I'm now lumbered with a complete brick for 12 mths- it is huge, wouldn't mind if it could take a decent picture but it can't.

look again at the specifications: Card slot microSD (TransFlash). This means that you can not use your M2 card on the G800. You will have to buy a microSD

Maria, No the M2 won't fit the G800. M2 is exclusive to sony products. Samsungs use a Micro SD memory card. (Pretty common with cell phones.)

Bobo - yes you can change the sms setting to constant abc, while in test message mode, press and hold the "*" key for 3 seconds, the indicator in the top right will show weather its on T9 or abc. The Samsung G800 is NOT touchscreen. My G800 has frozen once. it does tend to be using the battery more and more quickly, but this can often be the a software glitch which can be updated via your network operator (send away for repair). Brynn the G800 does not have the equalisers, only volume adjustment. Hope this helps :-)

ive had this fone for about 2 months and i think its great, but it does seem to freeze on me often. sometimes it gets so bad that i just have to pull the battery out while thefone is still on...i dont know how much longer my fone can take it...i just hope it doesnt delete everything at one point...

an update of my opinion posted on the 2008-02-07. the day after i had good things to say about the G800 it started acting up. the cellphone froze a few times. after restarting the phone it refused to pick up the memory card. i had to remove and re-insert the card everytime (2GIG). i took it back to vodacare in gateway, dbn and showed them the fault BUT they a bunch of thick human beings and said they did not agree that the phone was faulty. After spending 2 hours screaming at them and proving that it was the phone being faulty they gave me a letter to have it replaced. (i took the nokia navigator because it has already proven itself) i am not sure if any other G800 owners have had the same problem or its just my bad luck. I spoke to vodashop and they said out of the 3 they received and sold only mine came back faulty. i think this phone will be revised very shortly as faults start pouring in. we will have to wait and see after the official launch from the other networks.

I have this phone, it's great. Yes you can customise ring tones & Txt msg tones with any mp3. there are speakers to listen to music (not very loud). Face detection optimises portrait pics. it can save up to 1000 sms on the phone memory (160mb). it has 3g and hsdpa (equivalent to broadband for mobile) where network permits, shows web pages as for pda hamdset. There are 2 cameras, one is for video calling at vga resolution, the other is 5mp. The battery tends to last for 2 days with use of phone, camera & music player. 4-5 days with little use. On the negative, I'd say the camera processor is slow, low light pics need patience. it is a HEAVY phone, but well made & built to last. Apparently it can take up to 4gb micro sd, I am using 1gb no problems. There are lots of options on all settings throughout the phone, so it can take hours to customise! Great piece of equipment.

received 1 about 3 days ago, must say that i expected alittle more out of samsung's flagship phone. cons: The sound is not B&O great, its alittle overweight, menu not so hot, not alot of features like the nokia N range, pros: 5Mp camera with xenon flash and optical zoom, great receiption, battery life is good, samsung claims 20hrs in offline mode (i will try this on my trip far east next month, and update), great looking phone. overall: if you looking for a phone thats light weight, thin, packed would features i would suggest a Nokia or Ericsson. This should of been listed as a camera with a built in phone. It is as big and heavy as they come but it is truely stunning. Its a phone that people will notice and will ask you about time and time again. If you like attention then this 1 is for you!

its a great phone but why buy what you cannot operate.The manual is always inclusive so try and read the manual very well in order to avoid having problems with the phone so your complain doesn't spoil the model.and like i said, its good with a whole lot of features especially the camera.

It's not a copy cat of N95 at all! It's well design very sophisticated and quality, N95 is light plastic, feels just like a toy, G800 is solid and definitely much much nicer so far the best quality cellphone.

1st: its not copycat samsung invented slide phones ahead of nokia(all bar phone noticed?) and come to think of it samsung released 5megpixel phone in 2005 and 7-10megpixel in 2006 but only in korea serch in google for proof. 2nd: it hast xenon all right yes much pwoerful flash compare to n95 8gb, but N82 much more powerful! but picture quality G800 win 3rd: its front panel is made out of metal quite durable. thats all folks read review on this phone but not so reliable coz they keep on praising nokia, theyr fron finland where nokia is based no wonder.

I have a G800 and having problems with the camera, when i am on auto focus, even the flash is activated and results in the picture being too bright. The opposite occurs in moderate light conditions, the picture comes out too dark or blurr. When I zoom in, the picture comes out too dark and blurr. How are these problems so??? H.264 playback and H.263 means MP4 and 3gp format.it does not have any GPS for google maps and again it is great.Much more than a handset.

I got this phone about 2 weeks ago and i really like it... i used to have the Samsung D900..i have a few questions tho 1)Does anyone know how to get rid of the operator logo, you were able to have optional text on my last phone.Don't know ho to do it on this phone. 2)When i add the anti-shake option on the camera it turns off after every photo i take, is there a way to keep it on permanantly. 3)Does anyone know if there is a way to get a preview icon on the videos, coz i don't get them and its annoying because i have to name them all. In gsmarena.com the speakerphone loudness is 'good' whilein mobilereview.com they say its on par with walkman phones. Three simple questions i would specially like to ask: 1.Can we view photos in landscape mode? 2.Is the memory card reading very slow? @zollies 1. Data transfer using Samsung PC Studio Software IS VERY VERY SLOW. I change connection settings to Media Player, or Mass Storage to transfer my files. By doing so, my pictures download within seconds. 2. I do not share this problem. 3. All my pictures download onto my computer fine, i have never downloaded a corrupt picture. 4. Yes once the phone shows 2/3 bars, i charge it that night, even if it just turns 2/3. Usually, a charge lasts me 2 days, so i charge every second day.

Some help please people ... I have had the phone for 3 weeks now and had some problems. Can anyone else confirm these please ? 1. Data transfer rate in PC Studio mode to transfer photos is VERY, VERY slow. It takes approx. 45 secs to transfer just 1 photo (1.5Mb). My SE K610i transfers at about 3-4 times this speed. 2. When setting the phones PC Connections mode to "Ask on connection" the phone will connect to the PC ... BUT after turning the phone off and on the phone will no longer connect to the PC at all without a reset !! 3. When transferring photos to PC, approx. 1 photo in every 5 is corrupt on the PC. The original is OK. If you transfer the same batch again, different photos will be corrupt and others OK ??!! 4. The other night my phone had 2 (of 3) bars of battery left. I turned it off that night and then when powered up the following day it only lasted 15 mins, beeped a warning and then completely died ! And I did NOT make or take a call, send a text etc. Bluetooth off also. Your help would be appreciated.

Has anyone had any problems with the quality of the photos by the g800? I've had a few problems: 1. Very sensitive to hand movement. Worked out a technique to hold the phone in my palm rather than with finger tips. But still cant take zoomed (optical) pics without them being blurry. Supposed anti shake function doesnt help. 2. Took close up of some people's face- camera about 1 metre away. The skin has all these black dots, which makes them look like pits. The 3 pics I took look like that. And it's only skin which is like that. Everything else (eg plants, buildings, cars, tables etc) is dull, but otherwise normal. I really like this phone. It's a real beauty. But I fear it's just skin deep. Anyone else have any comments of their pics? Perhaps compared to their experience with n95 or k850?

Put your photos to your mem card then put your mem card in your comp (That's if you have a mem card reader) If not Put your Phone on to Mass Storage when you plug your phone in the comp it should show an extra drive (That's ya phone) Then it's Just Drag & Drop

I've had the G800 for about a week, and I've just tried to put photos and such onto the computer but I dont know how? I've tried the disc that comes with it and all that jazz, but it doesnt seem to work? Any advances on how to do it please? :)

In Korea, Koreans only buy their own products and review their own products on their own websites. On the streets you will see that more then 95% of the cars are Korean. I would never buy a Korean product until they started buying some of our products. I travel to Korea often. Try visiting Korea and selling a Korean a western product. You will find that that they will only buy and support their own products. Why support someone that refuses to support you or buy your products... As long as you buy their products they are happy and friendly to you but see what happens when you ask them to buy your product..

just bought the g800 and i like it alot, many people complain about the size but it was half the reason i bought it, more substantial and less likely to be lost (extremely less likely) however i dont know whether this is just my model but i seem to have problems with the memory card, it keeps needing reformatting and erasing everything i put on there, not fun. Apart from that its a good phone and im going to see if i can exchange mine for another to see if the memory card problem is specifically in my model. i will post when i get the new one.

Hi This Phone (G800) Has the louder ring and text tones. On the G600 the ringtone speaker is in the same place as the phones ear speaker. On the G800 the speakers (Yes there are two) are on the top edge (It is quite a deep fella) Mine is very loud never missed a call. Used to miss them all the time on my G600.... Hope This Helps

Its a fact that nokia phones used to explode, but lately their haven't been anymore complains, which is a good step forward for nokia, but still a long road to go. we all have brains mate, but it looks like mine is better, and i wouldn't try to prove me wrong, i don't want to sound all full of myself, but i got more insight and brains then most people on this planet. In general I like it but it is advertised on Vodaphone and elsewhere as having "Voice Activated Dialling"- Does anyone know how to set this up please? I cannot find it anywhere in the Menu's. As for the "Anti-Shake" I agree it is a bit of a nuisance, surely it would have made the default "On" not "Off", come on Samsung!

surely the photographer in the BBC studio had anti shake off, it was worse than a camera with no anti shake. People have found that if you put anti shake on exit the camera and go back in it will be off perhaps the man took the first few with it on exited the camera to do something went back thinking it was on when it was off and took the rest. Can anyone show me a picture with the anti-shake definitely on?

@Jane The slide is very solid, very well built, great slide mechanism. The keypad, well, i dont really think its the best for texting lol. The keypad is amazingly flat and soft, with the "5" key bumped up for a reference point. I found it hard to adjust to the keypad. At times i would accidently press two keys at once because there isnt really much difference from one key to the next, not a big difference at least, especially when texting.

Well, others dont really like samsung models for sure it's unfriendly, but for some guys who are as SMART as we are, yes we like it. Go samsung models if you are a SMART user!

I really didnt like it, i have the G600 and i think that is so much better than this. It has the old interface and the camera didnt really impress me. i was really disappointed as this was the phone i was looking forward to.
