I had used two different color Samsung galaxy a5. its battery is really sucks! performance is not good too. I think 2600 mah battery is not enough for this phone. yes phone is beautiful but Samsung's optimization is not fine. It has 2gb ram and this phone is using 1gb ram without any 3rd party apps. if you want to buy a phone, buy a Xiaomi or 2018 model samsung.

I have been using it too since 2015 and i honestly do not enjoy it as much as you seem to. It has many bugs that really annoy me and i really have trouble accessing certain features on it. I bought mine in the middle east.They probably have different versions of it there. I'm really surprised you like it :)

We bought a brand new Samsung A5 monday, a day after we can not text, hard time. Samething 3 days after. Go to a cell expert and says that he have a full box of A5 broken after one day, few week or month. Nothing to do to fix it.The baddest phone that Samsung made. Do not even touch or by this kind of phone. We went back to the store and bought a A8 instead. Series S is perfect too. Good luck..

Regretted buying it from the 2nd week when I noticed there is a mechanical problem with charging. Every time I wanted to charge it, had to struggle with the phone, inserting and pulling out the charger for a hundred times until it worked and started to charge the phone. Now after 2-3 months from the time I purchased it, can't charge the phone anymore, no matter how many times and for how many hours I tried inserting and pulling out the charger cable into and out of the phone. My cellphone's battery is dead and I have to go buy a new phone, or see if they can repair it and fix the problem for me.

I got this very cheaply to use as a backup phone. My mistake. It is far and away the worst phone I have ever used. Aside from everything else the microphone is so bad I have to hold the phone a centimetre from my mouth to speak. It refuses to identify or stay connected to my WiFi router, fails to load simple pages and constantly tries to update the mass of useless and unwanted Samsung apps. Do not buy this phone under any circumstances.

I've had this phone for ages...and i never thought it was that sensitive. i love it. I'd rather it be like this than me having to press on the same spot for hours until the phone reacts like others. The wi-fi problem is not because of the phone, but could be because of the viruses you have put on it because it doesn't happen to all. My one and only concern about this perfect phone is that it randomly shuts off when i lock it. But that again is because I've over virused it. The phone is great i don't get why there's so many people hating on it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 2015 version, and i don't want to change it because i seriously love it so much. I mostly use it with one hand it's pretty easy to. The phone looks great. I've dropped it sooooooo many times. Literally. From the top of the stairs, on to the ground outside...Just everywhere. It barely has one scratch in a corner. Not even a scratch. More like a dot. About the phone case, true you do need one. But you could work without it. Buy a glass screen protector and you're solved. A phone case is optional. Even without it, the phone is pretty tough. I've had it for nearly 4 years now. And the battery lifespan is amazing. Even if it's on 10%, I could still listen to my kpop music for another 3 hours or so. The camera quality could indeed be improved, but except that it's perfect. I use it mst of the time, and i have so many apps on it currently. From games to korean learning apps, yet it still works super fast.

Two questions. Do you work for Samsung? If not, am I correct to assume that this is the only smart phone you have ever purchased? Most people I've talked to who own an A5 have quickly regretted getting it. As I said, even a Samsung Rep said he hated it. The responses from those who "liked" it say you NEED to purchase a case for it because of all the accidental touching and how a simple bump can crack the screen. And NEVER try and operate it with one hand because, unless you are extremely dextrous with long fingers and cradle it, there is no way to not accidentally touch the edges and soft keys. You don't buy nor consider a vehicle that is extremely difficult to drive. Neither should you have to deal with a phone that is extremely difficult to use. The Bezel us design should have never been introduced not launched. It DEMANDS one purchase a case in order to try and cure it. Meaning it is a flaw in the design. Here's an idea. Why not design a phone people will actually LIKE to use? Think about the consumer for a change. If phone designers would stand the chance of getting slapped hard upset the head for horrible ideas, we wouldn't need sites to voice negative comments.

DO NOT BUY IT EVEN IF YOU CAN GET IT FOR FREE!!!! The accidental touching is insanely constant. Unless I am cradling it, which is extremely difficult when lying on the couch or reclining, I am CONSTANTLY accidentally touching the "Back" or "Recent Apps" soft keys or the sides. The fixer apps such as "NO More Accidental Touching" are a poor fix at best and the apps that can shut off your soft keys DO NOT SHUT THEM OFF. They can make the DO NOTHING meaning that if you are brushed up against it YOU CAN DO NOTHING! None of your other screen touches work until you are not touching the soft keys you "thot" you disabled. The phone is over sensitive. Keypad sux. Fragile no matter what the people at the phone kiosks tell you. The phone randomly decides to shut you off WiFi without letting you know causing you to quickly burn thru your mobile data minutes. Even a Rep from Samsung told me he HATED this phone! I almost gave up on Samsung entirely over this badly designed, "seemed like a great idea after a few tokes", piece of technological crap. If this were Samsung maiden phone, they'd have gone out of business. Note: I used the A5 to write this and hate it even more. You have NO idea how difficult this was. And to those who blindly defend Samsung's A5 saying "Well you just got to learn how to work with it...." load of crap, I say "A phone should be designed to work comfortably for the person and NOT the person needs to train him/her-self to back able to TRY and work less uncomfortably with a crap design phone." Let all these people have the A5, but for the rest of us who desire something better,.... Anything BUT!...

Ok... So I have my A5 (2016) for a year now, and had to replace the screen three times. The screen breaks very easily. And if you have to replace it, it is very expensive, because you have to replace it with the inner LCD screen - it is a unit. So next time I will me buying a phone, I will check this first. Even the slightest crack affects the inner LCD screen. I do have a cover and a glass protector, but still breaks easily. The protector didn't even crack, but the screen did...

Hi , I don't understand; why people keep asking about nougat update , yes it would be better if your phone running with newer version of OS , but I much prefer having a stable & a bit older OS ( Android 6 is very satisfying to me )rather than stutter & power hungry newer OS , of course later is better , but you must ask your self a question " Do I really need latest features ? " or " Is my phone with its system too old and looks outdated that much ? " Take your A5 2015 with its android 6 and put it side by side with an older phone that running Android froyo and you notice a big difference in every thing from how android looks to how it works and how many features changed and improved. . Take the same A5 2015 and put it side by side with A5 2016 , and you can feel the differences are not that big at least to upgrade from Android 6 to 7 , or even from A5 15 to A5 16 , despite there are differences. . Go to galaxy S7 review and look how battery life affected after nougat update , yes it is not happened to all phones , but there is a chance to .. What I really want to know ,WHY SAMSUNG DOESN'T FIX SOFTWARE ISSUES WHEN HAPPENING? ?!!! every time I updated this phone , the update got some new issues to the device , even , one of updates fixed a problem;, it came back with the later update !! Do not update this phone. It have bug with touch sreen and softkey. If you update to android 5.0.2 you will have problem with touch screen, and if you update to android 6.0.1 you will have issu with softkey.

Not worth it's price! Have the phone for 2.5 years and these are the problems that I had and I still have: - WIFI disconnects - people that call hear their own voices but not mine - ringtone at maximum and i can't hear it while on the street (no hearing problems) - latest problem, the battery started swelling up and it's pushing on the screen, making it detach from the case The phone was used average, few calls a day, no gaming, no Facebook and little web surfing.

Guys, keep dreaming. Snapdragon 410 with 4.4 kitkat android and touchwiz ( before s6 era) can handle nougat? Ok, it can handle, but it will have almost zero features from s8, s7 nougat. And seriously flagship users like me when they sticked to alpha were confident that alpha will get 6.0. Well, it hasn't even got 5.1.1 lollipop. So for samsung phones that sold very well they can probably make support 3 years. But like I said, it will have 1 or 2 features from nougat. A5 2016 doesn't have blue light filter..., screen resolution, almost nothing from s7 or s8.

Note: There are similar lists for other variants of the Galaxy A5 (eg A500M or A500W, etc) by searching for the appropriate model number at the same website. Every example I've searched for so far shows official Marshmallow releases are available.

What country are you in? Marshmallow was released for the A500F in many countries. If your phone is running the original manufacturer-supplied OS, then you should be able to do the following: 1) Connect to the Internet using WiFi 2) Open the Settings app. 3) Scroll down and select "About device" 4) Select "Update now" 5) The new update should be downloaded and installed Alternatively, it should also be possible to download and install the update using your Internet-connected PC with a USB cable and the Samsung Kies or Smart Switch software.

I bought an A5 in 2015, I sold it to one of my friends and the phone went dead with motherboard issue for which the customer service center asked him to pay Rs 9000 as the phone was 15 months old and so out of warranty. Seriously, can a brand manufacture a motherboard which doesn't even run for at least 3-4 years. Never mind I bought an edge and it has switching on and off issue with heating problems and guess what unless my phone damages they can't do much. Hope it damages in warranty other wise i'll be duped. NEVER EVER BUY SAMSUNG, NOW A DAYS ITS JUST A NAME PERIOD.

I agree. Mine had a ton of problems as well. I run it with a custom ROM now, and there are no problems whatsoever. Get Resurrection Remix running on Android 6 and you won't have a problem. Be careful which ROM you will get though, get it from XDA forums and make sure to read everything before you download the ROM, because some of them are just experimental. Find someone to install the custom ROM if you can't do it (you need to be careful) One thing for sure, I will always buy used phones from now on, Samsung is just a commercial name, they have faulty devices as well, just have a look at the Note 7 fiasco.

I enjoy this phone. I am running Android 6.1.1 Mashmallow. Although Android 4.4.4 KitKat is the pre installed OS. It was upgraded to Android 5 Lollypop and then to Android 6. But there are precautions before you upgrade : 1. Upgrade it on wi-fi network. 2. Restore it to the pre-installed OS before upgrade. E.g if you've upgraded it to lollypop and you want to upgrade it to Mashmallow, do a factory reset before upgrade to prevent hanging and loss of features. This is my first Android phone and it makes me to forget my laptop on my table.

This is "so far" the best phone I had. I have it for almost 2 years now, and it's still going strong. No lag whatsoever it's still going brand new. The battery is really good, no problem with that either, with my usage it lasts about 2 days (and I'm on Facebook a lot and write a lot of messages). This has got to be the worse phone on the market.The price is very mid range and affordable ( compared to all other smart phones out there) but there are just way too many problems with this phone.So when i got this phone within 3 hours it froze on me with 80% battery life and because the battery pack is non-removable i had to wait for the phone to die. The following morning (once it died) i charged it and it froze within 2 hours (unbelievable). I brought it back to the Samsung store and i was given a brand new phone, hoping and wishing that this issue wouldn't occur again. As the day progressed it worked fine no issues until that night. i placed it on the charger as it upgraded and when i woke up the phone wouldn't turn on i went back to the store and exchanged it for a new one. Now on my 3rd A5 and the same issue happened the following day it just wouldn't turn on but this time when i go to exchange the phone there was a total of 4 people complaining about the same issue. So im now on my 4th A5 and would you believe it once fully charged and left on the charger it doesn't want to turn on. This phone has given me so much grief with all the travel I've done to get it exchanged and hoping its working. Not to mention that this had all occurred within a 2 week time frame, i have all the receipts for the exchanges and this time im getting my money back. SAMSUNG FIX THIS ISSUE , THIS ISN'T WHAT I EXPECT FROM A HUGE COMPANY WORST PHONE ON THE MARKET.

The only problemd that I currently face is that I have to charge it every single day, as I'm using it a lot - for work and fun. I had use samsung device with white notification panel , and I tell you it looks good , but not better than current blue one , I think it is fresh looking but no more than that, actually I feel the blue one looks a little better ... There is some annoying problems after marshmallow .. like lock screen sound effect problem , it became so quite and I find my self compelled to disabling it completely 🙁 , there is more major problem with language, when I set my phone tty I Arabic " which is my mother tongue " , system don't shows battery usage for every app, the battery section is just turn off and shows " 0 " mAh Vibration feedback is gone if you want to place /or replace an app or widget on the home screen or within app drawer , the amr for soft keys. There is a syncing problem , actually it not working properly for email , and for some Google app ( play newsstand not refreshing at all ) .. Battery drains insanely .. It drops from 100 to 90 after turning on screen after just 20 minutes ( it takes 1 hour and 10 minutes for down to 92 % when it was lollipop ). My phone got an update a few days ago , it solves the screen blue flickering , and install November security patch ... but unfortunately no more than that .. I hope Samsung release an update for solving the language problem , and lock screen sound effect ... I was much happier with this phone before .. I find android 6 better than lollipop specifically in security ... Touchwiz also on android 6 looks better .. but software problems ruin the experience. .

Every update makes my phone worse , it was better when I bought almost in everything, after MM update I facing some issues :screen blue flickering , syncing issues , sound problems ( almost gone on lock screen , sound alive issues in video player ) , and more To day my phone received a new update, and problems still there , even the ultra data saving mode & opera max that came with MM update are gone now , what is very strange ( Why removing app that just installed in the previous update ... I was quite happy with this phone when it was new ,and now I really disappointed with it and really start thinking of changing it as soon as possible ... Good job SAMSUNG ....I was a fan of you and your products for years , but now ..... I don't find a words to say 🙁

I've been using this phone since 7 months . In the beginning I was facing overheating problem but after sometime my phone started to operate without overheating . I also encountered several times a display problem in which several blue lines appears from one side of the screen but after turning off and turning the screen on those lines disappears . It is just a minor problem . I updated my phone to MM after the update and there is no problem The only problem I am encountering is battery drain . Phone's battery drains at a very fast rate . At night I mostly before sleeping charges my phone to 80-90% and the other day when I woke up the battery level comes down to 70% I am very annoyed by this battery drain problem

I have an A5 (A500FU) from ORANGE CARRIER and 2 months ago i updated to MM 6.0.1 After that i also confirm that i saw horizontal lines on screen and the screen lost the vibrant of colours! After restart everything ok.... i first thought that a circuit of the screen do the malfunction but it was only one time! After that another issue started! When i watching videos from new sites like cnn or simular phone starts blue flickering! The issue is bigger when the phone is on power save mode and the dimming on screen below the half! First looked up on internet and i found that SW cannot decide if it must use the GPU or SW to create the graphics and is SW bug so we must disable the SCREEN OVERLAYS from programmers hidden menu... I tried it! It doesn't resolve the problem but is "lighter"! After that because my nerves gone mad for a phone on 300+ euro range i went to official service! They re-update the phone (with the official update MM not the hotfix that we expect) they re-program the phone they even changed the whole screen with new one! Just in case! BUT the problem REMAINS!!!! Does it really there is AN UPDATE that we will receive or samsung just leave us with a BUGGED phone????

I don't care about nougat update , each time they release an update they actually release a OTA issues package , every time I update my phone I actually install some " problems " I updated it just after I bought it about 2 months , and the update cause issues with vibration , I waited for android MM update hoping it solve vibration problem, but actually it increases it and vibration gone in more functions , screen issues, syncing issue, sound alive issues ( actually there was issue with sound alive in music player since I bought it , now it goes to video player as well ) , no more sound effect on lock screen ,if switching to arabic language then smart manager not work properly , system stop showing power consumption for each app , notifications from youtube , Flipboard breafing , smart manager stop working , and I can't download voice for any language cause the option simply is disabled , browser got some problems too , manual zoom not always work . Hi, i have the same phone. I saw that the "problem" it happens if you change the camera mode from auto to night or hdr for example. In these modes the phone use only 8mp i think. You have to turn manually 13mp when you goes back to auto mode. Have a nice day!

Hi, after android 6 update , I have some issues 1-Screen tint green some times 2-Blue frames flickers while watching videos or playing games 3-No more vibration feedback while holding a keyboard letter or any other key, soft keys,holding shortcut or widget neither if when putting it on home screen nor replacing it on home screen . 3-Sound alive options within video player not working as before ,it was very good before ( after android 6 update ,Voice preset working very good as before , but music sound like 7.1 channel but a bit quiet,and 7.1 channel itself not good as before ). 4-Sound alive not work properly in music player app , but this problem is already founded from the android 5 . 5-"at least " Flight mode quick toggle some times not response & should tap it again to work properly. 6-Music player not recognize my music on sdcard after turn the phone on for a while ,even after it recognize them , it wouldn't show them on music player widget until I play one of them from the app it self ( using a sandisk ultra 64 , and Kingston 16 ) . 7-Music player widget that included within the notification panel some times not response , until I tap the app it self . 8-If I switch system language to arabic ( my mother tongue ), system stop calculating power consumption for every app as it should be , and of course battery screen doesn't show power usage, which is very annoying to me . 9-Again switching system language to arabic stopping notifications from Flipboard breafing. 10-google and Samsung accounts got syncing problems . 11-Sound effect on lock screen become very quite and very hard to hear, even if you set " system sound slider " to its maximum level . 12-Some times screen flashing with white horizontal lines for a moment , and I really worry about it , and hope that not be a hardware issue . And these are some of issues that I remember right now . Some body tell me that samsung release a small update that should fix screen blue flickers , but I don't know about other problems , and unfortunately I still waiting for this update ,and I don't know when it should arrive , marshmallow arrived for more than 2 months know .. Any one got this update ( or any update ) just tell me if he ( or she ) notice if it fix any of mentioned problems , I really like this phone , and it is not my first Samsung phone , and I never had any problem with any of my previous phones , but with this I have a bad experience ..VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Personal advice is dont upgrade Samsung A5 2015 to android marshmallow. My Gallery and camera stop working and phine turn black screen all the time. Have to force restart phone every time it freeze.

Your upgrade should be atleast about 906mb in order for your phone to perform even more faster i did it twice then after my phone was performing quiet awesome. yes I also encounter some over heating and fast draing battery this is caused by some apps in your phone like picture editing games etc. I remember i had a load of groups in whatsApp that caused the phone to run slow, i the recived a notification on my phone says i should delete the app cos it's causing my device to run slow. My advise to you is be careful how you handling your device cos some problems might be caused by your carelessness.

Both of them has the same internal specs , A5 is more premium build , more compact design , and there is some software advantages that you get with A5 .. but it is more expensive , if there is another option with the same price and better specs , I advice you to rethink about them , other than that it is up to you .. go to A5 if you care about design and quality ( chrome finish on the A5 disappear so quickly so take care )

It seems like this update getting problems with syncing .. if you notice that the same issue go for some Google services such as play news stands , this app not refreshing any more , you must lunch the app itself to refresh it , I hope Samsung release another update to solve this and many other problems unfortunately came with android 6 update .. By the way you can reduce battery draining issue by going to Settings > more network > nearby devices scanning ( or something like that ) and turn it off ( it turned on by default after update ) After I updated my phone I found that my battery drains so fast even while I sleep and turn off WiFi and mobile data what drove me crazy ..so I discover this option and my battery life is better ( but unfortunately not as what it was on lollipop )

Sound on lock screen became so quite, the same goes to ring tone vibration on soft keys gone , smart manager problem , no longer shows how each app use battery , and that a system problem mainly .. sound on video player became quite and there is an issue with sound alive ( the same sound alive issue I found in music player even before update and it still there ) .. and battery draining so fast ..syncing problem ( not work properly or not work at all ) and more . I hope Samsung release an up update to fix this strange and very annoying issues ...

Updated my A5(2015) from kitkat to lollipop yesterday. I find the new lock screen notifications feature helpful, notifications are just one click away. Viber, Whatsapp, Insta and most of the apps have new good looking updates(didn't get those updates with kitkat) Snapchat runs smoother without lagging. Camera has not changed except for getting a new mode, "animated GIF". Didn't face any lagging so far. Much smoother running than kitkat. Ram status is around 850MB/1.85GB after booting. Music player responses quicker than earlier and has a new interface(no lag between tracks when pressing next button)

v bad phone ( samsung A5 )... can't put it inside ur front pocket since the led gets easily broken when its put inside ur pocket... my led broke with in 7 months and i rarely put it in my pocket... when i went and showed it to the service people they said it cant be repaired under warrenty since the led is broken and .. the screen has not been broken only the led and it will cost almost have the price of the phone to repair it...

Those who are facing issues with Marshmallow (Battery drainage). Try formatting your phone. This happened to me when I updated my Mom's A7 (2016) to Marshmallow. After formatting, the battery backup just got better. Pretty sure this will work.

This phone is really good hey, I bought it last year December and I must say it's a good device. The only problem I have is the the body of the phone is not made out of good quality, the body easily gets scratches as compared to other phones in the market and the battery really drains fast even while Power saving mode is turned ON...the other thing is the rear camera I doesn't have the quality of a 13MP, the quality is not good also the selfie camera is not. good unless you configure the beauty features then it becomes great but the rear camera ain't good at all but overall the phone is a great device and I'm quiet surprised that Samsung is still updating the phone because they do not care about updating their phones...the last update I made was a security patch (September), the update after the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Bought the phone in October 2015. Was good for the 1st few month's but the autocorrelation is very frustrating and two weeks ago the rear camera has become blurred and cannot focus even though the lens is clean. Sometimes when I turn on the phone the screen will have lines coming from the left hand side and other times I will not receive calls and no missed call will come up on the phone. This is too many problems for a 10 month old phone that costed €400 to buy. I would not recommend buying any of Samsung's "budget" phones as you are being over charged for a useless phone.

I actually like the phone..over the past week I saw 2 things happening to my phone..1)the full left side of the screen from top to botton was faded and lined up like scratch marks..but the remaining part of the screen was normal...when I restarted the phone it became ok...2)one time when I picked the phone from my pocket to answer a call,the color of the screen was different than normal..when I finished the call the screen went back to normal colour...I have faced only these 2 problem's so far...I bought this phone December last year...so problems at this early stage is making me nervous..

Recently updated my A5 to marshmallow via OTA. After using for 3-4 days, this is my feedback. 1. Battery drains faster. 2. Image is clicked after pressing 3-4 times on camera button. 3. Screen response time is below average. 4. Lags a lot. This happened today. 1. Alarm did not went due to which i reached office late. 2. No ringtone. 3. No volume in the media. 4. WhatsApp video not running. 5. MP3 & MP4 downloaded audio not supported by phone system. Don't know what have I downloaded via OTA but it has screwed my phone completely. Was recently given an SM-A500F running Android 5.0.2. All my contact numbers are all in one long string, meaning the phone numbers are not formatted with any spaces. Eg. a mobile phone number of "0404 123 123" will save as "0404123123", or a home phone number of "02 9999 9999" will save as "0299999999". Any way to get this phone to put the correct spaces on the phone numbers?

This phone for a casual usage only .. I chosen it over galaxy S4 for its premium look and feel , but I shocked when discover that (chrome like ) paint on the bazel gone so quickly , the software have several bugs here and there , music player equalizer not working correctly, Google services ( Gmail, newsstands , etc .. ) not updating you need to update the app manually by opening it , auto brightness sensor don't decreasing brightness until you lay your phone horizontally , if you watching a video while enabling AMOLED cinema mode within stock video player and screen turned or for any reason , the screen color mode change to AMOLED cinema mode and you must to change it again manually , after month of buying it , it get a software update that sized about 300 MB ,the update resolve the syncing problem , but no more , even it bring new buga , the stock dictionary no longer working within apps ( until you launch it from multi window list for example ), vibration feedback ( while placing or replacing shortcut or widget on home screen ) is gone too ... Surprisingly the galaxy S4 ( yes I know it is faster , but still strange !!! ) gets the music player and browser update ,.. and A5 wouldn't ...Very disappointed The only thing I really like about the A5 is screen color accuracy , with basic mode colors looks fantastic , very realistic , very accurate , very pleasing , really really beautiful screen ..

Actually guys I flashed my Samsung A5 SM-A500F from Kitkat to Lollipop Via Odin,amd that lollipop software was Russian version,and I guess I got update faster than you is because my lollipop rom was Russian version.Just keep calm and be patient.Noting really changes in Marsallow,you only get Download Booster,Marshmallow app icons,and two-three new settings,apart from that nothing changes..UI of Radio and S search changes ..Notification panel remains the same colour,I expected it to be white in colour like J5's.Boot image change and easter egg changes.You get some new apps in Samsung Store.I play clash of clans game,and the update lowered my games quality.Nothing to exited about with this update

The sound for the incoming calls, SMS and alarm was disappearing every now and then, so I had missed calls, alarms and so on. This was happenig with a brand new device. After a VERY hard fight (I had to go to the authorities) the phone was substituted with a new one. The new one had the same problem. The official service (Mobico - Skopje, Macedonia) wrote to me that they are not responsible if the problem is caused by third party apps like Candy Crush Soda Saga, Zedge, etc!!! For goodness sake... So eventually a friend of mine installed a different Android OS called Resurrection Remix, working on Android 6.0.1. The same thing happened 2-3 times, but now I haven't noticed the problem for 2 moths or so. I solved my own problem, but Samsung should not be selling phones with a serious problem. And also they need to choose more carefully which repair services they name as their official services.

Dear All, I bought a brand new Samsung A5 (2016) handset. To my surprise it gets heated to very high temperature and had very poor voice quality in the ear piece. I raised the same concern with Samsung India Services to the cordinating person as below: Ravi Sethi ASM - Gurgaon Branch Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd +919818200212 I gave all the proof of poor voice quality with audio recordings and temperature recordings of the handset and submitted to Samsung for further investigations. After that this handset (Samsung A5) was hanging into Samsung Service Center for almost a month and was returned back to me with a reply that 10-15 °C temperature rise is acceptable with this device. I tried my best efforts to get a replacement but all in vein. Company itself accepts that this device gets very hot to a temperature around 45°C. So you can imagine what kind of device you are holding next to your skin. New buyers please beware of this Samsung A5 (2016) model. Don't fall into the trap of stylish looks. Looks is all it has and nothing else. Camera is terrible. Voice quality keep on varying during the call. Phone gets heated even when you are not running any heavy application. They replaced the Sim card the first time, but that did nothing. My list of problems: 1) Doesn't always connect to my Bluetooth in car. So I having this phone more than one year, bought March 2015. Till now still working. Pros including super slim body with metalli design, amoled display, good camera when it is sufficient lights. But since it is getting old, facing some lag problem and over heating problem, has to charge few times a day. The speaker is not good and not on the list of getting marshmallow. Disappointed. It's considered as a average phone and suitable for people doesn't need sophisticated functions.

Hi users of the A5, I got this phone on December and everything was awesome but 2 months ago my A500m started to overheating and the screen turning off everytime I charge it or I share WiFi or when I make long calls (10 minutes at least) or even when I check my fb, I used to do all that without problem before, did you experience that? i owned a samsung galaxy a5...i must say this phone has a good build quality...feels premium in the hand...battery life is good...but the thing that bother me is its lollipop update...after updating to lollipop update the phone is not looking well in terms of touchwiz...kitkat is more beautiful...and lollipop hangs a little every time i open an app..so a5 with kitkat version is a better choice...and the sound of the phone is a bit low...

U have to be careful.the display might break with this overheating..may be a 2mm discontinuation ,and then Samsung puts it under damage(out of warranty) and u Lal have to pay for the repair even if it's within warranty period..(cost7800)..it has happened twice in one year with my phone....fighting a legal battle now

Hi .. I bought this phone for about five days now and it is lollipop 5.0.2 out of the box .. I don't know how ito would be on kitkat .. but my device works very well ..yes to be honest it stutter twice or three times even when I just turn it on for the first time before even set it up .. but most of time it works smoothly .. Same over heating problem of samsung phones,they both have very low music volumes, hang a times and you have to restart a couple of times,disconnects from Internet even when there's 3G. (my net connection is good bcoz any other download gets vry gud speed and very less time). Its 100% original it came from a legit Samsung Store. I have the samsung sticker and samsung warranty on my phone's box. But unfortunately we bought it outside our country. Going back there would cost a lot. I use my phone properly, and I dont have any games installed at all. I clean my RAM and application cache or junk occasionally. I think its overheat because you use it at the same time using internet or playing heavy games while its charging or open other apps. Its not recommended. It will be better if you let it charge without using it or turn off the A5 while charging. I am typically charge my A5 while it is turn off.

I have this phone a few days now and it have mixed feelings on this phone. The screen is great at 720p resolution since its an AMOLED display. The performance is quite snappy although it lags a bit when playing high-graphic games like Clash Royal, etc but since I rarely play games on my phone, it doesnt really matter for me. The battery life is superb as i can get up to more than 4 hours of screen-on time on this phone. The rear-camera on this phone is pretty good as I can get a few decent shots with this camera but the selfie camera has mediocre quality especially at low-light area. One thing that hurts me though is the price. You could buy other phones with high-performance specs at a lower price than this one. But if you prefer better built quality over performance, I say go for it.

Hi guys, here are some of my experience with A5. Initially, everything is working perfectly until the 9th month. I am a heavy user for phone. Data and wifi are off only when I sleep at night. The battery is still great but more problems start popping out. For example, (i) my phone sometimes cannot detect wifi and data, (ii) my camera suddenly failed once, (iii) a bit lag like for half second, (iv) recording of audio suddenly disappear during the process and (v) whatsapp dongle which let us preview the message malfunctions. Pretty sad and frustrated with all these problems. What more now is that I need to look for a new phone.

They are almost the same. A5 has 2 slots: one for sim card and one for memory card, while A5 duos has also 2 slots, both for two sim cards, or one for sim card and one for memory card. The second thing is that A5 duos hasn't received the Lollipop update while the regular A5 did. :)

Hi there , I got that phone for week now , it is nice phone with solid build and good looking ;I don't a gamer so I doesn't experience lag issues , but the phone is good enough for general usage .. when I play a video for the first time I found the movie played as if I using multi window option .. I thought that normal but after a factory reset ( for another reason ) I found movies ruining normally ( tapping the video playing it in full screen mode ) so that was a software problem , then I found that screen mode change by itself randomly .. Samsung A5 - a joke, I can be sat within two feet of my router at home and it will disconnect. It will switch off during charging or when it is fully charged. When in town at my local bar, it will not normally and quickly connect to the free WiFi, it is quicker to go into settings and force it to connect. I have done a full factory reset but still the trouble persists - not fit for purpose.

i have the galaxy a5 for a year and a half , and its still Rocking hard , it has fallen and hit the ground way too many times and its working just Fine this phone is a brick wall , not to mention the performance is really good , get it worth it :)

Really good phone. I have it for 4 months and it works perfectly. It runs as smooth as an iPhone (if you want a comparison). Someone dropped it from like 1 meter and nothing happened (had a case one btw). The phone has been dropped like 3 times but nothing happened. The only problem I got was one month ago when it suddenly stopped. But it happened because it overheated ( I made a videocall on fb messenger, I talked with 2 other persons on messenger, I was on twitter and fb at the same time, and 10 apps were working in the background). I just held the vollume button and the home button and it worked perfect again. If the phone randomly turns off and you feel it's a bit hotter than usual just let it cool down and hold the buttons. The camera is good (but if you have poor light the photos will come out a bit strange) and the selfie camera is ok (just the thing that it makes it look a bit fake like on other Samsungs). I still don't know if it has a notification led (but I don't think so). The battery can keep you throughout the day with brutal usage (I stay at school 7 hours and I stay A LOT on my phone with mobile data on all the time and I return home with at least 30%). It charges really fast. 100% in like an hour.

i brought this phone a year back and it was working smoothly till a few months ago. presently it has issues of poor signal reception. very bad. i searched in web and my experience got corroborated everywhere. we buy a phone, primarily as a communication devise and notwithstanding this phones other good qualities, if it fails in providing the user with good communication, it is simply a waste of money. I am throwing awar my samsung A 5 now. please dont buy it.

The phone come with the default setting "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" selected in More Networks > Mobile Networks. This means the phone will always search for any of the 4g/3g networks available, but will favor 4g. Since 4G reception is generally very poor at the moment, you'll generally experience poor signal strength. You should manually change this setting to either "GSM only" (2G network, best cellular signal) or "WCDMA only" (3G network, good cellular signal with added speed for mobile Internet). I keep mine in GSM only mode for the best reception and switch to 3G (WCDMA) when I need to use mobile Internet.

That's totally untrue! I have disabled Briefing from the very beginning and now I have three home screens with my own shortcuts. You just have to either pinch the homescreen or tap and hold and you will be able to manage homescreens (delete or add new ones). Just delete the screen with Briefing and you're rid of it. Then you can tap + and that will add a new blank homescreen instead where you can add your own shortcuts or widgets.

You can turn flipboard off.I did it ffrom the first day because I don't use it either.All you have to do is to open flipboard than go to settings ( the 3 lines in the top corner) and disable the automatic start.

The A5 was amazing with the major exception of flipboard. On the A5 it is a mjor issue disabling the "home screen" feature. I contacted both Samsung and Flipboard and neither offered a permanent solution. So I had to force stop it every time I accidentally swiped left (of course waiting until the app loads to do so). This was extremely frustrating as it happened multiple times a day. If you like flipboard this phone is perfect. If not I would contact Samsung to see if the J5 has flipboard pre installed or if it is possible to remove it as a home screen. I went back to my old busted samsung galaxy s4 mini and I'm currently looking into rooting the A5 because as is it is useless to me.

As a Galaxy Note 4 user I wasn't expecting much from this phone specially since I'm using it as a 2nd phone for my other sim cards, but to be honest it's quite good. Great battery life and large ram which make it easy for multitasking (moderately) and using it as a daily driver without getting bothered with freezing. the best part is that is really solid it survived many falls and getting dusty and soaked from rain many times. TLDR : good phone 9/10 only weakness low resolution screen and slow 3d performance. apart from that it's great.

I give 4/5 for overall features and the performance of this model. But I give 1/5 for rear camera. Flash is not in sync with snap shot. Very poor quality images with flash. Hope it will be rectified with service.

I had an S4 mini and decided to upgrade my phone. It was between the iPhone 5s and the Samsung A5. I chose the A5 and so far, I couldn't be happier. The battery life is great, the screen size and quality is amazing and the call quality is outstanding! I've had the phone just a few days now, but I already know quality when I see it. I just got this today and i am super happy with it! the size is quite similar to the iphone 6s everything works great the camera is awesome and it charges really fast compared to apple only issue for me is that i find it a little bit hard to type since the screen is no that huge but over all its great!

hi! if you meant to ask how to add languages other than english you do that in settings > language and imput > click samsung keyboard > then select any languages you like! Hope this helps :)

HELP me please! I have my samsung galaxy a5 duos. It was a very nice phone but recently when I use the assistive light (which I oftenly use) after it turned on it wont turn off, so I try checking the camera's flash it turned of after i took a photo with a flash. But I noticed that the charging icon is active in the lower right corner of my camera, I was shocked because it wasnt plugged in my charger. So I pressed the home button to see if the icon of my battery is really charging, and yes it is really charging. I assume that it is only a bug so I restart my device, but after holding the power button and clicking restart it just turned off and wont turn on I tried charging it but no use its still black screen no signs of the power. What to do? My device is in good condition i dont know whats the problem. Please help.
