Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge - User Reviews

  • Well, I've had this phone since January of 2018 and now i'm looking for an upgrade. It's now September 2019 and I got to say. It worked great for about a year and some change. Of course its a budget phone with 1.5 RAM but i could do daily task, social media and even some gaming on PUBG once you know how to use Dev settings to make it have better performance. But overall good display and everything. But these last 6-8 months is where things went noticeably downhill for the speed, storage optimization and Battery plus RAM degradation. Yes with all these budget phones the RAM loses its ability to optimize properly after a year. Just know my battery lasted 5 hours and it was lagging and taking 10 seconds to open an app regularly. Galaxy A20 here I come.

  • Not Bad in this price tag, This phone is not for gaming anymore you can't play pubg mobile without having issues, Overall it's Good

  • how to update samsung j3 emerge to android 7.0?

  • Value for money but no compass therefore no go for apps requiring a compass for navigation.. Otherwise absolutely excellent value. Been using mine with no worries for approaching three years. Rattie

  • Almost 2 years and no problem with this phone. You gamers need a high speed phone.

  • If you like to waste money, buy this phone. This phone is absolute garbage. One thing that got me really mad was that when I bought it from AT&T, it literally called it the J3 (2017). That's literally a lie! Anyways, this phone turns into a potato after using it for a month. Meaning it gets completely useless. Seriously, 1.5 GB of RAM? What was Samsung thinking? I know the phone is cheap, but at least make it useable!

  • This phone is absolute garbage, I have an s3 that got thrown in the washing machine for 20 or so mins that I use for games since this thing aucks so bad and turns itself off every time try to play a game. And not even games that take any kinda graphics power, just any game. It is a POS

  • one word...garbage.

  • Liked the phone until updates caused it stop pairing with my Fitbit. Apparently its incompatible. Never would have bought it knowing that.

  • I've had this phone for 2 years now. It's good for a budget but has some issues. Mine won't install updates, lord knows I've tried. Every time I try to install them I just get the same error report. its a little laggy and sometimes locks for no good reason and takes a couple of minutes before I can get back in. Also, If I leave it for more than a couple hours without opening it it has a hard time starting up unless it was on the charger. overall it's good enough but shouldn't be your first choice.

  • I've had the same issues too, I have to reset mine very 2 months just to get to work a little les laggy. I can't stand that not even the most shitty games it can't run them decently, and even the camera take forever to load... I know it's a cheap phone but at best you should only get it if your other phone broke and you need something for a month or two MAX. you'll get sick of it after a week and you'll feel like throwing it. Please don't buy it unless you need it.

  • I have this phone right now and its pretty great however it keeps restarting every time I play a game for like 15 minutes i have tried everything please help...

  • I've had this phone for close to a year and it isn't all that great. I just switched to a Note 4 and it's WAY better for all that it is an older device. One of the most frustrating things with the J3 is that I had to keep turning off the game optimization after the latest o/s update if I didn't want my phone to keep rebooting itself while trying to play a game...even something as simple as Solitaire would see it reboot itself. And there are several other games that the J3 simply can't even download, yet an older device with an older o/s has no issues with them. I get that the J3 is a cheaper phone, but it's really not worth it.

  • When I got this phone, it was labeled at Galaxy J3 (2017). Totally incorrect, and the actual J3 2017 is 100 times better. When I upgraded this phone to 8.0, but just got slower. The 2.5 GB of RAM is just nothing to even bother with. The 5 MP Camera is nothing to bother with either. Not a good phone at all.

  • it is a great phone you can update to 8.0 oreo

  • This phone is, well, for emerging markets

  • it sjust smart in looking and in using its stucks

  • i dropped my j3 ecipse 4 times twice on metal and twice on concrete and yes it was on the screen and it still does not have issues. this phone is durable

  • I bought this phone for my then 6 year old son. Two years later and no issues with it, and it survived the young one dropping it (of course, it is in a protective case with tempered screen protector). It is easy to use and never glitches. I love that I can load the McAfee all-protective app so I can track him, and he can send an SOS in an emergency to specific phone numbers. It's a great phone!

  • i have a J3 eclipse and it is awsome one of the best phones i had. i will always be a samsung fan

  • I also have a Samsung J3 and it is a piece of crap. $140 phone you would expect it to work flawlessly but had it a week and it will not send a text. And this is when I have full service, and am able to make a call at that time. I had a $39 Alcatel that I had for several years without a single issue until I broke the screen.

  • Do not waste your money on anything Moto worst phone I ever had was a Moto G4 still paying for it went but another phone

  • Ok. This is a cheap phone but it performs okay. Not very fast. Speakerphone Not Good but what can one expect for about 100 bucks. Battery life is decent. Would like more performance so I guess i must spend more and move to Moto g or Honor 7x impossibly.

  • Can this phone connect to 5ghz because the spec says abgn wifi compatibility but 5ghz said doesn't appear when I wifi search

  • If you have those issues you should have gone to a Samsung Service Center instead of just lying there and whining

  • I literally have hated this phone from day one, I've had it a year now and can't stand it. The problems first happened when it completely shut down everything and I had to reset the entire phone not long after I got it loosing everything on it. Sense then it glitches like really bad it never stops. Random apps open and close frequently, I miss calls because half the time it didn't ring, the power and home button don't work half the time it normally takes like ten minutes to get into my phone in the morning, when people call and it does ring because the power and home button do not work I can't answer bc the screan don't light up for the call. This is the biggest peice of shit phone I've ever had, deffenitly switching to Apple phones. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS PHONE TO ANYONE!

  • I bought a brand new J3 Emerge, and it was having a lot of trouble working right out of the box. It wouldn't receive some phone calls or some text messages. and it would get bogged down to much. I didn't like it so I gave it away to someone else....

  • simply the best cell phone ever!

  • How can I get this phone rooted so that I can get rid of apps like Facebook (privacy invader) and Amazon (just want Kindle)?

  • game performance= good 8/10 camera= not bad 5mp/2mp battery= 8/10 5 to 6 hours of continuous streaming at 4G the rest is just as perfect as any other latest phone.

  • Pull the top of screen down and in right hand corner u should see the phone it will give u portrait option and click the down arrow to switch yo auto rotate.

  • Wow! I'm really sorry to hear this about ur j3 Emerge. Ive had mine for almost a year and I've had absolutly problems at all. Was thinking of upgrading but may not bcuz it works jus as well now as the 1st day I got it.

  • Worst piece of crap Samsung has ever made. This J3Emerge started working bad since day one: dropped calls, poor camera performance, ugly looks in the back side, sloppy wifi hot spot, lags in voice sounds during calls. I'm returning it to Virgin Mobile. I was looking for Motorola E4,a much better phone according to experts reviews, but unfortunately was out of stock. I have to nag tech support at Virgin and Samsung, and they couldn't do anything to improve my impression with this shitty phone. Samsung really disappoints with these plastic junks. My brother bought a 1000 times better HTC One and keeps teasing with this Sammy!

  • how do I turn off the screen change option (I don't want the screen to automatically go to portrait mode)

  • Try changing your screen time out in settings!!

  • best phone on the market for the price ive slamed it in the trunk of the car, dropped it in the bath tub full of water and dropped it down to the next deck on an iol rig and it is just fine.

  • For starters whenever I pick up this phone and press the screen unlock button the screen will turn on and shut off immediately my phone is up to date i have called tech support many times about the many many issues i have had with this price of garbage. Pop ups happen all the time from various apps. Do not go near this phone you will regret it. I can't even play music anymore it pauses the song every two seconds while it's sitting in the open screen facing up so there's no external factor causing it. Restarting doesn't ever fix the issues just delay them for 2 min max.

  • I rate 4/5. It has an IPS display with almost no IPS glow issues, so the viewing angles are great. The sprint variant will also ship with the msm8917 (quad core) (I checked CPU-Z on mine). LED has PWM control, meaning you can change the brightness with a slider. There is no status LED so yeah. It has no NFC. camera is more like 720p than 1080p, it's definitely not REAL 1080p. it has wifi direct so printing and stuff works. Durability is okay. mine survived quite a few falls before shattering from a fall from my backpack (I'm 5'9). Touchscreen remained functional and a screen replacement was easy to do since the LCD and glass are fused and you can just do it through the front. It's fast enough to play basically any game without much issue. as long as you don't bloat the thing up with apps like facebook, twitter, etc (all of which run in the browser just fine, use opera for messenger and you won't need an app) the phone will run like any higher end phone fine.

  • Well, it's not the best, but it's not the worst. It has a beautiful screen, and only 1.5gb of RAM. Which may cause it to lag, but for most people who are using it for calls, texts, emails, Facebook etc. It's totally great! It's 1/3 the cost of the galaxy S8. So what do you expect? Otherwise, if you are having an issue with the wifi, etc, you may have a faulty phone, if you are under contract, it should be under warranty. Anyway, I would recommend oneplus. They have great phones and they cost less, you can get a 3t for around 350-450. It has 6gb of RAM, so game on. Good luck all! Make sure you put a good case on your phone!

  • dial *#06#

  • I cant find the serial number in the battery place anyone please tell me

  • Well God damn dude what did u do to your J3 because mine fully charges in about 1 and a half hours, runs games perfectly fine and downloads pretty fast. So u must have done something to your phone for it to be that shitty

  • I purchased a J3 Emerge a month ago from Boost Mobile. It has spent the majority of that time at Samsung repair in Plano Texas, Boost Mobile continues to charge me for service when the phone is 1.000 miles away. Boost Mobile is totally incompetent! You only get apologies from agents when you call them. Never can get a supervisor. My J3 Emerge is an attractive paperweight.

  • Agreed. I have this rooted, got rid of the bloatware. Fast and good battery life. I just wish it came with a better camera.

  • This phone is actually great, to me it has great speed, loud speaker, very good picture quality.. Wide touch screen andit loads fast enough.. Don't listen to anyone else, believe me, it's well worth it... If you take care of your phone correctly, it will last long..

  • so sorry my galaxy 4 fell and broke after only falling 100 times it was good while it lasted had it when it first came out so i was forced to get a ne phone didnt have the cash at time fone broke so settled for something cheap and quick and the j3 emerge is a great fone for the time being does great things and hopefully i will be able to upgade to the samsung j7 but anyone looking for something just for the moment the j3 emerge is great until you can get better or god makes a way for you have a blessed one

  • This phone is afwul. It overheats, has a terrible batttery, it's screen is more fragile than Gordon Haywards leg, and has the camera from 2001. DO. NOT. BUY.

  • thank you bro!!!!

  • I bought this low-tier phone as I sold my iPhone 6s+ to get the iPhone X when it comes out. I worked on the chipset for this phone and I am surprised at how slow it is. Must be using cheap slow memory as our development phones were much faster that this. It's kind of sad but then I guess that is why it only cost 150$ new. Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 - Sprint CPU Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 - Sprint

  • Yes.Woring all network sim cards

  • This phone is no good!!!!, camera doesn't send clear pictures, videos don't record, freezes up often, and cant get good reception most of the time.

  • is this model unlockable SPHJ327ABB ?

  • This phone is absolute crap. Dont waste your time or money on this phone. Battery is 2600mah, BUT NO QUICK CHARGE!!! So it takes forever to charge. Also, for some reason, my WiFi speed is terrible on this phone. Whenever I download anything, it downloads at about 1mbps even though my Internet speed is 70mbps down. Every other device is getting the 70 down except this phone. Also, gold luck running games, it stutters and freezes a lot. Speaker is on the right side of the phone, weird position first of all, but the speaker is not loud at all. I've also seen a couple people with this phone try to make a phone call and the person on the end of the line couldn't hear the person talking on this phone. The ONLY positives I can think of about this phone is that its a amoled screen and the front is pretty attractive. The back is ugly but the front looks good. There's a lot more that makes this phone a terrible choice but I'll stop now. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with this phone for a hear because its on contract. But I'm buying an unlocked LG V20 off eBay for $200 (which is cheaper than this phone)

  • U need a new battery

  • Try eBay best place to look

  • Got to set up a screenlock first

  • The SIM socket is stacked. SIM on the bottom and a micro SD slot on top of it.

  • Hi I can't operate my secure folder And I can't even fine it in the settings

  • No hot spot function and option. No data toggle button. Average battery time. Good front cam result. Front view is much attractive than the back side.. Couldn't find its back cover. Tempered glass or other tools or accessories...

  • hey everyone just wondering if there is two card slots (one for a sim card and one for a microSD card) or is there just one card slot.

  • how to enable airtel 4G in India for this phone. i have bought this phone for my brother from Dubai, Airtel sim is working but without 3G or 4G . please suggest.

  • Yeah it should handle most tasks like that no sweat, mine does at least. Seems like a pretty decent device for the money and the features it comes with. My only beefs are with the windshield bein tampered with, someone gains access to vehicle, speeds deadly projectile driving regardles- modified or unmodified I don't care really. What gets on my nerves is the way other people sometimes drive and neglect those things for years and it ruins the car, sometimes permanently

  • I have a boost mobile galaxy emerge in pakistan bu there is no option of hotspot , i have gone through all the settings but failed to find the option, can anyone please help me....

  • SM-J327T ram? battery removable or not?

  • Hate this sprint phone. Had a Galaxy 4 until it died. Galaxy 4 was a 10 times better phone.

  • I have the SM-J327T, which ships with the Exynos 7 Quad, the camera is 1080p, the screen/display is denser (303ppi), and comes in a very sleek dark matte black.

  • i donna. green is trying to replace my broken phone. so i'm looking for a boost store close by thank you very much

  • im trying to find samsung galaxy j3 emerge phone to replace broken phone.

  • This phone is a total waste of time i cant hear ppl an it lags so bad and also the battery doesnt last for long even if ur not using it

  • I just bought my fiancé this phone for Father's Day and he has a hard time hearing on it. Both him and the other person cant hear anything, like it cuts out or something. Is there something in the settings that can be causing this to happen?

  • this phone a good phone to B4

  • I think this is overprice for $240

  • Sprint customer service is awful too.

  • One thing I can't stand is the length of time this phone takes to charge and how many times. I just got this pho e and only a week old I've had to charge it twice a day the charging process sucks! I've charge it and an hour goes by only for a 4 to 10 percent charge from day one. I own a iPhone 6 and within 30 minutes I would have 60 percent charge. I hate this phone and I can't wait for an upgrade just to go back to iPhones

  • Go to My Files then Device then folder and press/hold a file you want to ?move-file will become selected. By touching other files in this folder, you'll add them (top left corner-"All" will select all files- touching any of them will 'un-select' that file. Right top corner-3 dots vertically; click and you will see "Move" copy, rename and more! After selecting, it will lead you to destination (when copying or moving).

  • Go to my files on your phone, and look for the item you want on your phone and the press it and then it will say copy to my sd card,or download Appcontrol from the Playstore

  • pls how can i move apps from device storage to sd card

  • Just under $69.00 out the door at my local Boost store. Much improved reception/signal, call clarity both ways, faster LTE and wifi, and more app control compared to my older Boost Phone (Kyocera Hydro Icon). A lot of phone for the money. Love easy mode. Easy to clear history on web pages. Talk and text works better. Texting is more intuitive. I charge my phone every morning and is never lower than 50% when starting. Usually reaches full charge in an hour and I don't use the battery saver. Google Maps work better too. 1Weather radar is back and works better. The audio with headphones is great and the speakerphone is also a huge improvement. Never had a $600 phone and feel I'll never need one. I'll just be taking her easy with this one. The Dude abides.

  • It's an excellent phone for that purpose. I got one for free after bringing my phone number to Boost Mobile

  • It's an excellent phone for that purpose. I got one for free after bringing my phone number to Boost Mobile.

  • is this a good phone for using WhatsApp, Facebook, and Messenger on? plus like walmart and games?

  • Boost is good locally but try to drive up north from down south and get a signal and keep a signal

  • Do not ever go to sprint. Disgusting company with unreal prices and many hidden fees. I remember getting the s6 edge from a sprint store, spend 500$ cash up front for most of the phone cost and for the first bill, literally 2 days later my entire service is cut off and I owe 250$ because of some hidden fee and a fee for "spending over my spending limit" due to my credit 500$ was too much for me to spend so they literally charged me 250$ and cut service because I. SPENT. TOO. MUCH?!?! Never have I heard of something so ridiculous. Luckily it was only the 2nd day since I bought the contract so I was able to return it with no problem. Not to mention their plans are outrageously high. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

  • Not true, it has a gyroscope for vr games and movies it's the cheapest phone you can find with that from samsung

  • i think this phone has a tiny camera

  • Wouldn't drop calls be from your carrier??

  • Goes through Sprint for the BEST deal possible.

  • Ask galaxy

  • Had three Samsung Galaxy S6 with Sprint. We went with Boost and with the Galaxy j3 emerge. Best prepaid phone to compare with the Galaxy 6 S phone. $167 out the door and my phone bill for 3 of these phones is $116 with tax a month. Have it setup to come directly out of my checking. Doesn't feel like a prepaid phone!

  • Boost mobile $50 unlimited talk text data

  • It will be avilable March 15, 2017 in India!! Hope you get to get one. Love mine, awesome phone.

  • Right now you if you switch to Sprint the phone is free. And they have some awesome plans that are unlimited talk, text, and data. I have 2 lines on my plan and I have unlimited everything for $90, it is autopay but if you don't have autopay it is $100 a month. You can't beat that deal anywhere, cuz I shopped around before going to Sprint. They are the only contracted company that has unlimited data, and it is 4G LTE. So far had awesome service and I have been out where it would be a dead zone and still had service. And I love the phone, it does so much stuff.

  • I am wondering which company that you are with because I am looking to buy with a good sale. But I know that it depends on which company you go through because some production companies have the signals set to go through specific types of towers.

  • is this phone launched in any other country can not see anywhere in uk ??

  • Galaxy J3 Emerge. When my phone times out ie. is in sleep mode it doesn't give me any notification sound when I get text messages. I have turned the volume up on all settings and checked everywhere I could find to make sure that the notifications settings are all turned on. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Will the one with snapdragon 425 be able too get the nougat update?

  • The j3 Emerge is not very different from the others in the J3 family. The only real noticeable differences are the different back and the 1.5Gb ram. The only way I would suggest this phone is if it is on a really good sale. You could find better phones for under if not the same price of this phone

  • not go0d when take capture an object m0ving,.blur photo

  • Love this phone , just can't figure out how too remove the virgin mobile logo from my top left notification bar , only time it disappears is when I have a notification.

  • The worst cell phone I have ever had.Phone drops calls before you can say a sentence. Loses sognal also.I never want another.

  • same design as 1000 model before but only different back for the 1st time

  • Because in a phone there is a lot more than only RAM memory

  • Could you use this for T mobile? Would I need to wait for an unlocked version?

  • is it available in india if yes then where i will buy it?

  • Now is 2017, and this phone has 1.5 GB RAM for 6/10 price range. Why SAMSUNG why?

  • It's a great bargain phone. Walmart has them for $79 too, and there's a Best Buy right up the street with a $129 price tag on the same handset - 2017 J3 Emerge. Sure, there are a few shortcomings - no idiot light for notifications, for example. But hey, $79!

  • everything ok... Except 1.5RAM why?

  • Nope 1.4 processor instead of 1.2 & it comes with Marshallo 6.1 instead of the 5.1 Lollipop, close but a nice step better 👍

  • At the "Boost Mobile Stores" yes that's what they told me but I got it at Boost online for $79.99 - $85.56 tax & all. Its one of the best I've had & I've had quite a few.

  • single sim or dual sim

  • What were you expecting for $65?

  • just ordered haven't received it yet. But had a promo code for 50% off. So I got it for $65. Can't beat that. It should be better than the Moto 3rd Gen I have know.

  • dude nokia came back ao.samsung starting hesitate.simply.

  • 5mp camera + 1.5 GB ram, wow

  • but king of stupidity..Its value for money and j5 and j7..These are high budget phone

  • I like this phone.Good battery,very fast,solid camera...

  • Bought one J3 Emerge at about $129 USD VM/Sprint. Well this will be my second Samsung smartphone, previous being the Galaxy Victory. Alot has come a long way with midrange models.

  • If it had an SD430,8MP cam and 2 gigs of ram it would good. They missed the mark.AGAIN

  • WTF ? Lower specs than J3 2016 camerawise? Really smart, Samsung.

  • Its a quad core snapdragon 425

  • It's not MSM8937. ITS A MSM8917

  • they sad tha the prise must be to 170

  • but is a budget phone or will be and the model j3 only

  • can buy j7/j7(2016)/j7 priame at the same price!!!! and it's much better than the fu****g j3 emerge. i'm sure any single copy of it won't be sold....

  • 1.5GB ram, $ 234.99, Spirint.

  • ITs a j3

  • When launching in india please tell me

  • Yes! They're called "budget phones". -_-

  • What kind of design is this!

  • wow, people still do 5/2mp cameras on smartphones?

  • I thought I would be better then J5&7 prime but it's specifications are a little bit low... But it's better in a buget price like 7,8&9 Indian rupees
