  • Notes are good phones but the downside of the 5 is that it's no longer supported, so won't have updates anymore. And, the Note 5 doesn't support a memory card. Not everyone cares to use the Cloud, and/or other services for their files, so it seems logical to point out the two current downsides of the 5.

  • I yesterday bought a used note 5 32 gig for 8k Inr. It was used by a lady and the phone is in mint condition. Only issue i found is cant customise notification led like how i do in my note 3 neo. If i switch on led by default it will blink while charging voice recordings and apps notifications. In note 3 neo we can customise the led for what we want. Other than that the phone is gem.

I bought this phone twice now, it has a nice camera and all round spec but the screen is very fragile.it was in my Jean pocket, brought it out and noticed ink on the screen, the ink keep spreading and b4 evening the screen went blind. Note. The screen is very expensive to replace.

  • Its a semi durable phone. Got it the day it dropped by pure luck and i was happy with it for the first few months. That started going downhill when the stylus broke on me. As per usual phones with an integrated stylus usually have it break down faster due to more use od it being pushed in and pulled out. The lack of options to chamge the battery or put an sd card in it are a dealbreaker for me and i wish i had looked a little closer upon purchase. Its mad out of glass material for its backing and that makes it all the more worse when dropping it. Still using it since it dropped but all in all the performance has gone drastically down within the first year.

  • Got a Note 5. 3 y.o. now. Amazing phone. the only thing id say negative is, battery last for 1 whole day, but is it fast charging anyway. I'd suggest you to check Huawei Mate 10. Design and build quality is the same as Note 5, but its battery is 4000 mAh compared to Note 5's 3000 mAh.

  • I've had mine since they first came out, in Otter Box and its been everywhere, damp, hot, cold, got wet a couple times and still working fine. Takes nice pics, hasn't had many issues with apps. Just very difficult for me to share pictures/download to anything but email or Facebook. Used to allow photo posting in Messenger but no more after changing carriers to AT&T. Over all its been very dependable and easy to use. Got Tubi for free and its my mobile movie source now. Haven't figured out how to transfer pics to my new HP Chromebook 11 yet, frustrating. I've never been an Apple Fan tho. Had far less issues with Android and Samsung in particular than my kids with their iphones.

  • Keep in mind I just gave away my Note 5 two days ago so these steps are recollections from my poor memory. Go to settings > device maintenance > battery > always sleeping apps > add apps (add all of the apps) > back to battery > unmonitored apps > add the apps that need to startup in the background automatically to exclude them from always sleeping (call recorder, twitter, whatsapp, etc). I had my Note 5 running like new until the very last day. EDIT: Don't forget to restart the phone every day or two.

  • got my note 5 last dec. the battery has crapped out already& repair shop want $135.00 to replace it works fine other then the battery situation...F.Y.I. if you buy at Costco,don't get their square trade ins. its a rip off...$120.00 for 2yrs on new phone "but" then they have an $85.00 deductible charge PER claim...in my case, i pd $120. for coverage then you add $85. for a claim total $205. so it's costing me $205.00 to get a $135.00 replaced battery!!!!!!! maybe i should have read more fine print,haven't found all the paper work to review it just sayin!!!

  • I'm seeing the same thing after I got the January 2018 security update. Fully charged last night, went to bed, woke up to a dead phone, data and wifi were off. Today, fully charged at 11:30am, down to 43% at 5pm with doing a little bit of Messenger chat. With wifi/data off in-between usage. Hopefully there will be an update to fix that shortly. But probably not, T-Mobile takes months to get updates out. I notice T-Mobile is deflecting too.

  • Hi Friend, I had the same battery draining issue right after Nougat update. Switch off VoLTE setting when you pull down the quick setting bar on the top and swipe left to access VoLTE option. Hope this helps.

  • hello first disable download manager and data saver then observe battery drain. Both of system apps and from apps select show system apps and then disable them. But if you try to use google play then you should re enable. But dont worry google play will warn you to enable. i think data saver is new app to optimize network access but some programmer use it wrong at last update.

  • Hey I just saw your comment and I'm currently using a note 5. I have just replaced my note 4 with this beast and It was the best decision I've ever did in my entire tech life. The nougat update to the note 5 made it a beast and personally I will trade the note 4 anyday with a note 5. The sd card slot, replacable battery is really not a bog deal if you're like me who doesn't really have too much pictures, movies or apps in my phone and in reality the note 4's design is really getting outdated. I hope this opinion helps and this is my sole opinion so please don't judge me

  • 220 USD is a good price if you are getting 64gb and i would recommend that but it looks like a used product so check the battery backup. also i would recommend note 5 over s7 simply because single generation updates do not have significant performance difference unlike what youtube reviewers want you to believe. there is negligible performance difference but after putting touchwiz on them you will not notice much difference. only positive s7 has is the camera and expandable memory but if you are getting note 5 64gb then it is fine. also there was news that note 5 will get oreo so that part is also covered. note 5 has a bigger display and spen which is so useful at least to me. rest you decide

  • i am using this phone since early 2016 and i have adored it ever since but to be fair samsung's touchwiz does get slow with time and this is what is not good. it still has the raw power but the software doesn't complement it. also after 1.5-2 years of usage most users switch to a custom rom to keep the device fast and get new features because from samsung you will get no significant updates but this device doesn't have much dev support from xda. battery was strictly ok since day 1 but now it has been quite bad. screen and camera is still top notch. i would say if you get the device very cheap and you want the s-pen then get it but if you want to use the device for a long amount of time then don't get it.

  • imo, the note 5 screen is superior to the note 8 screen. somehow I find the colours on the note 5 more vibrant than the note 8. Also the 16:9 screem ratio is superior to the 18.5:9 especially when using the s pen. Only downside- no sd card slot.

  • you break a phone then you have to pay simple. tomorrow you break apple or lg or sony and say i won't buy them coz i drop them and they break lol. get out of this notion that gorilla glass 100 doesn't break. also the drop surface and angle makes up countless possibilities so you can't say "my earlier (insert brand here) phone did not break when dropped but this one broke. i have lost faith i will not buy bla bla..." coz you didn't measure the angle of drop and exactly how much newton force it took coz in real life it is difficult. smartphone brands make hell a lot of money from spare parts. if you are clever enough you can get spares and repair yourself. i replaced my xiaomi mi4's battery by myself. the service guys were asking for Rs.2500(38U$D) but i got original battery imported from china and replaced it for mere Rs.400(6U$D). my HP laptop's hinges and backplate had issues and they were asking 92$ and i got one imported and repaired myself for 30$. i will do samsung with my note 5's battery since it is 1.7 years old now. the fun fact is brand like one plus whose phones sell for Rs30000(450$) on having water damage asks for Rs.50000(800$) to repair. the newer chinese brands like xiaomi,one plus have more issues with service. if you phone is f**ked then your wallet is also f**ked up twice. i can see you in future breaking another brand's phone and complaining about that brand in that page.

  • system updates from samsung will never ever trip Knox. check your oem unlock in developer options whether it is on or off. i think you tried to flash a custom recovery like TWRP. root is not necessary but flashing custom recovery or kernel is enough to trip knox.

  • Because note 5's processor is power efficient and we get perfect 5 to 6 hours SOT with heavy usage. For light use it can easily pass at least 2 days. So battery backup is not a problem here.

  • Battery on this device is a joke! Just 3000 mah for a 5.7 quad hd panel while A5 2016 offers 2900 mah for 5.2 inch full hd !!. Why this variation guys ??!!

  • No dear, you simply can't do it. Firstly it's size is indifferent from each other. Note 5 has gotta 5.7 inches whilst note2 5.5 inches, even if both had the same size still it was impossible to replace the display of note2 with note 5 as the resolution and point are entirely different. Look the the exact display of your note 2 and not an alternate. Thanks hope it would help you

  • My Samsung Galaxy Note 5 worked great until I allowed a system update a day ago (I received annoying dialog box insisting that I do the update. Now myNote 5 does not work as a USB device when connected to my laptop. I think someone needs to QA these system updates better. I don't know who did this (AT&T or Samsung), but this is a major problem. I don't appreciate having my phone inadvertently disabled in this manner. Since my phone was sabatoged by tbis system update rendering it unfit for the intended purpose, I want my phone either returned to fully working condition or replaced.

  • I have had several Note 5's. These are fantastic phones overall. They have a gorgeous resolution and great camera. I do like that they added the 7.0 update to it. 4 GB of ram and excellent video quality. They are definitely future proof! There are ways to expand battery life but you need to know how to tweak your phone. I do agree, its a shame about the 32GB storage. The Note 4 had an expandable memory slot and removable battery which was GREAT! There are 64GB versions of the note 5 but hard to find because most of them are 32GB. Its a great feel and look. I have the s7 edge now and love the display even more. I think for the price today, you cant beat the note 5. However, since its a little over 2 years old now, you want to make sure the battery is still good when buying one since its very difficult to replace the battery. I am hesitant on the note 8 since it cost so damn much. For now, ill stick to what I have. Overall the note 5 is a beast of a phone and has an excellent s pen. The speakers are pretty good. If you can find the 64GB version, get that one. I also really like the xynos 7420, its snappy. Good luck!

However, although it works fine on all UK networks (am currently on Vodafone), because it is not rooted etc, I cannot obtain any firmware etc upgrades, such as security patches or move from 6.0 to 7 (Nougat) because it still tries to access the AT&T servers when I try a manual update. I lack the technical skills and do not have a Mac or Windows PC, so cannot root it. Any tips on how I can remove the AT&T stuff and obtain Samsung's latest software? Thanks!   • Bought my Note 5 a week ago. So far it's been great. Sound quality from the speaker is what you'd expect from a phone. With quality headphones you get a much richer sound. Display is amazing, compared to my old Galaxy S3. The s-pen is a great feature, that I'll be using a lot. It's big at 5.7" screen, my old S3 actually fits within the area of the screen. I definitely recommend getting a case and screen protector. Love the fast charge capability, takes just over an hour to be back to full from 20% I'm a lite to moderate user but I can get almost 2 days out of the battery before I start feeling concerned about the charge level. Unless I'm playing a lot of games, then I will need to plug it in soon after. Running the T-Mobile Nougat 7.0 and it performs well IMO. Overall I recommend this.

  • I think 32GB inbuilt storage is enough for me atleast. Because I believe there are people including me who first bought Nokia 6600 with 64MB memory card and tried to put as much songs as I can on this little memory, then replaced the sd card with 512MB and felt like wow....   • I used the Note 5 for quite awhile. I had a hard case and suddenly dropped. The screen didn't break but the internal LCD is damaged so I paid 250$ for screen replacement. It dropped again and the LCD is damaged again. Honestly Samsung is intentionally putting glass so to break easily. iPhone Htc (until htc 10) huwai mate 9 and OP all are metal and they survive drops. Hell on Samsung. I used to like Note 4 but their software is laggy. I'm switching to OP5. To all users of Note 5 , be careful not to drop the phone

Although the greatest issue I have with this phone is after two years my screen started to get pink and blue lines on it. No water damage always been in a case and no scratches or cracks.   • lol we have the same question. i already have a7 2017. but i really think the note 5 is better. a7 2017 is kinda not worth the camera for me tho. it lacks 4k, and stabilization and the 1080p display is not as good as the note 5. but for a 3gb ram and 3600mah battery, i get 2 days of intermediate use with the a7 2017 with no lags or frame rate drops. but i think the a7 2017 has better build quality(design) than any mid range phone.

  • just tell them that this note5 has global issue and everyone has it after 9months of use. Proven in XDA forums. It's manufacture fault. Protector just cant make that impact alone. Try to put back and forth protector on any other samsung model 50 times and it just wont happen luls.   • Depends on your need and if you can get the Note 5 cheaper. Note 5 is still very good with Android 7.0. With any Galaxy phone you can change to performance mode and set the resolution to 720p, so gaming performance is still good on the Note 5. Biggest negative of the Note 5 is lack of microSD slot. S7 have somewhat better camera and microSD support, but a smaller screen and no S-Pen. I would take Note 5 64gb version over S7. But I would take S8 over Note 5.

  • Serious Issue : I have a Galaxy Note 5 duos 64gb (N9208), all of a sudden at the top left corner the golden part of the screen started peeling off. It never dropped, never had any kind of accident or pressure. When I visited the service centre they refused to repair it under warranty. When I asked them to find a single sign/evidence if any scratch/dent or physical damage , they could not find a single one. Now they are saying that this Peel-off happened due to frequently changing the screen protector. This is insane and completely illogical. I am moving to consumer court in India, it has become a trend in India to loot the people in the name of physical damage, Liquid damage, Pressure damage.   • No it has nothing to do with volte, because I use airtel 4g, which doesn't use Volte.. morever I use the International variant, not the Indian one... so it doesn't have Volte.. Whatever I would like to say that, my problem is fixed as soon as I updated my firmware to Android 7.0 Nougat.. I mean it is as good as my iphone now.. 1% drain in every 3 hours or so... and the 1% goes to, Device idle.. previously in Android 6.0 the 5-6% drain in every hour was sucked by android OS, because the CPU would keep awake.. it was a bug.. sammy killed it on Nougat. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SAY TO ALL NOTE 5 USERS.. JUST UPDATE TO NOGAT TODAY.. EVERYTHING IS BETTER.. FASTER, EFFICIENT, AND BETTER MULTITASKING.

  • VoLTE setting (when you pull down the quick settings bar) is enabled by default which I believe one of the reasons why the battery was draining. now that I disabled it, it will make a huge impact on the battery life. turn off VoLTE setting it will give you battery life like before the update

  • I don't think you'll need to change battery that soon, as battery can normally last upto 4 to 5 years or even more. Also it depends how you use/charge the phone. Like ckdinesh said, make sure if VoLTE setting is disabled. Also, updating apps from play store can make the difference because some apps may not supported with naugat. I'm normally getting 5 and half hour SOT. My usage is surfing web, news reading, 30min of small games and whatsapp etc. But if you use gear vr, facebook, downloading and heavy games. Then the battery can even drain in just 1 or 2 hours. So, yeah it all depends on our usage. Also check settings one by one and disable or turn off things you don't need. Hope this will help.

  • Updated My Note 5 International version (New Zealand) 2 days ago and was so excited for the Nougat update after a long wait. But after using it for a couple of days I'm experiencing significant battery life drop with the new update. I wish if there is a way to downgrade to the previous version. Donno if others are experiencing the same issue after the update. I had no trouble with the battery life before the update and now its bit of disappointing. Just wanted to give a heads up for the guys who are eager for the update.

  • I did the same. And I can say honestly that iPhone 6s even ipone 7 or may be iphone 8 are no way near to this Note 5. See the difference in just two things, the Display ppi of Super Amoled as well as the 16MP camera of flagship.. Once you use higher ppi, you can't go back to the lower one. However i liked the whiteness of iphone screen as amoled can be yellowish. But you will not notice this on higher brightness. And low ppi was irritating the eyes. People say iphone can beat all phones in processing speed. But I hadn't see any lagging in Note 5. Yes, some stuttering may be here and there, but when i was using iphone 6s it also had stuttering, did you notice this? I remeber there was also an issue with iphone 6s's battety. It's percentage wasn't accurate, was stucking at say at 60% for 1 hout and was coming down on 10% in just couple of minutes. If apple use higher ppi display and good camera that would be great. I like the UI of iOS though.. android is still catching up. But ATM even S3 can beat any iPhone. Sorry ;~》

Video stabilisation on Note 5 is better. Battery is better on s7 edge, water resistant, good design. But then S-pen is more creative. So, it all depends on your usage and choice. Despite being an old device Note 5 is still one of the best smartphones which gives full value for money. Rest everything is identical when it comes to performance

  • i am using note 5 and i will not lie to you or do any fanboyism. see note 5 is almost 1.5 years old now although it is fast, snappy and cheap now but there are faster phones out there today so you choose note 5 only on conditions that you can't stretch your budget and s-pen is a must for you. even if s-pen is must have why not wait for note 7 refurbished. now comparing android and ios is tough coz it depends upon individual needs but still a person who wants an iDevice will buy an iDevice even though all ports are absent so you answer your question. also there are different aspects on each ecosystem which is better than the other. s8 it is the biggest, the best, better than the rest phone right now. s8 is the best choice right now in terms of camera and battery life. regarding speed both iphone 7 plus and s8 are good but iphone does memory management a little bit better. i know nothing about huawei p10 plus.   • What about battery backup, it's not more than 4.15HRS compared to marshmallow 5.30HRS, screen on time. Hard deserted, cache clear, reinstalled fresh OS from service centre, Nothing helped. So, in short the Nougat for Note 5 is seriously not good for Battery life. Samsung should fix this issue.

  • I just got it a few weeks ago and mine had 7.0 nougat on it. I really like the phone. Its fast and very responsive. The battery has to be watched and you have to be willing to tweak your phone ( developer's option, lower that screen brightness, get rid of haptic feedback, shorten your screen timeout to 15 sec. etc etc...) Also a black wallpaper or very dark one is better. The phone graphics are very nice. I had the note 4 before this one and the note 4, for its time, was an amazing phone. I really do not like that we cant remove the battery and no micro sd card expansion was a seriously shit move on Samsung. Over all the games play well, the video is nice and the overall look of nougat is sleeker and more modern looking. I also like the new features in the menus. I really wish the notification panel was dark or black. too much white hurts the eyes. If you can afford the new s8 then get that but if you're on a budget, I like this phone a lot. Get yourself a clear case and nice screen protector and you'll be fine.

  • I think you need to be on wifi to get the update. It's around a gigabyte. Are you short on space? What happens if you check it manually in "Settings->System-Updates->Check for system updates" while on wifi?

  • I have gone on any of the battery optimization. And yes you can get the battery to last longer but it puts many limitations on your phone. If I leave the settings exactly as they were with the old operating system and my battery would last a good 10 hours before recharging. Now with the new nougat operating system my battery is lucky to last 6 hours but the average I'm getting is 5. I have had techs and Verizon look at my phone and there is nothing wrong with my phone or settings. To get my phone to last more than 6 hours I have to turn my screen down to 15% which makes it virtually impossible to see it anywhere outside of a building. I really hope that Samsung comes up with a fix quickly as in it's making it very difficult to run my business when I have to keep leaving my phone on a charger rather than my side.

  • I have been using the note series since Note 3 and I love them. I'm a General Contractor and the larger screen with the stylus comes useful many times. But the new update "nougat" extremely sucks. They completely ruined all the icons and pull-down screens. Made it very difficult for those of us that were glasses to see anything anymore. As for the battery life, I just barely updated it so I have no comment on that as of yet. But I really hope Samsung will pull their heads out of their butt and listen to the population and create these interfaces the way we want them and not the way they keep trying to tell us that we have to have them.   • Kindly, share with us the SOT, I agree performance has improved but again the User Interface design is very similar to Redmi Ones. I am not saying Speed/performance has not increased but design should have been better being a Samsung Touchwiz user, its not acceptable. Also, I have visited service centre to update my software since OTA had battery drain issue, but it did not help me , still battery drains faster than on marshmallow. I am talking about no other applications installed, just like a new phone, tried everything I could do, nothing helped.. If you are getting Good Battery backup, its really great !

  • battery was ok-ok with marshmallow not awesome. on nougat it has improved a lot. see, you say a lot of users are complaining about battery life but users who are getting good battery life won't even write anything on xda or gsmarena. people start complaining only when issues arise and not when everything is fine. i don't know about others but mine has improved a lot simply because on marshmallow it was so-so.

  • my jio network is absolutely strong bro no issues there. my battery life became better than what it was in marshmallow. that clearing recent apps lag is true but practically speaking very minimal to notice until compared side by side which i did. btw to downgrade you have to root and that will trip knox and no warranty after that. however i would suggest you to go to the nearest service center and tell them to flash it again which they will do for free if under warranty.

Generally people in US are the biggest consumers of latest flagship stuff and the case is just opposite here in India although this trend is changing slowly with phones like op3t. Anyways the prices of electronics is always cheap in the US. I don't think these prices will come to India anytime soon. For example lg g5 was a flop phone. In India it still sells for 35k yes we see a good price reduction here but in america it sells for as low as 22k unlocked. Samsung galaxy note 5 last time i saw on amazon.com it was 28k whereas here it is still 35k maybe more. Only lg v20 is around 1-2k less in india and op3t around 3k cheaper in india and a handful others. Gaming consoles, high end headphones, bluetooth speakers, laptops, tv, phones..etc is cheaper in US compared to India. Sometimes even after importing them and paying that hefty custom duty and shipping charges it is still cheaper than India. You ought to see their Black Friday sale, some products are jaw dropping cheap and here you see so much hype created for big billion day sale and such poor offers and even if once in a million times product prices are discounted amazingly then the brick and mortar store owners and other websites start complaining to competition commission of India and other bodies of the govt. see the latest example of Jio and how much Airtel and others were bothered and determined to drag them down to their own level. However, in India also you can get phones for cheap on ebay but no warranty and still not as cheap as ebay US.   • I Bought a Galaxy Note 5 about ten days ago. After I switched on the phone first time, it prompted for a software update. After the update, now the screen interface looks like a very ordinary phone and is quite unfriendly. Emails from exchange server do not sync for some unknown reason. I took the phone to a Samsung service centre. They could not do anything and they said it was problem with the latest software version. I am completely dissatisfied with the phone. I now regret my decision to buy this phone. It looks like Samsung phones have lost their quality possibly owing to high sales volumes. We should be very careful now in buying Samsung phones especially at this time when Samsung has come out with S8.

  • what's different and things i noticed till now- 1. the ui is sleeker and much more cleaner. earlier ui had one font going over the whole ui now 2 fonts are present simultaneously one is the standard samsung font that we already had on marshmallow and a new condensed font on the status bars, pop ups and dialog boxes which looks cool. the icons can be kept with frames or without frames which is a new feature. app folders are transparent now. app drawer has a search bar now for app suggestion. phone app shows some beautiful color effects while calling someone. notification drawer looks new with sleeker icons...many more changes i can't remember 2. screen resolution can be changed between HD, full HD (this is the default setting), QHD 3. blue light filter added 4. 3 power saving modes are there now which provides more control over power usage. 5. now you can long press an app on homescreen which opens up a quick shortcuts box with options sleep,uninstall(no need to drag for uninstalling now),app info 6. settings panel has a big overhaul. things are less scattered now. the best thing is that at the bottom of any particular settings there is a option which says "Looking for something else" and provides some options in case you went to a wrong setting and you were looking for something else. 7. samsung pass is new. 8. there is a new performance mode does nothing special rather than toggling brightness and resolution. 9. camera ui has good new look and quality is still same no changes. images still come out crispy. 10. there is a glance mode which is new i guess was not available or marshmallow. 11. auto brightness sensor was little slow on marshmallow but now it is perfect and detects change in luminosity quite quickly. 12. fingerprint scanner has become considerably faster for me earlier it was not great. i always had complaints about the fingerprint scanner. 13. i noticed a small bug with charge percentage indicator. like suppose i wake up my phone and it shows 59% then within fraction of a second it shows 53%. now again if i press power button and put it off to sleep and again if i wake it up it shows 59% then within no time it shows 53 or 54%. this is a small bug no big deal. overall the battery indicator at the top corner gives accurate readings no problem there. 14. battery life has considerably improved for me maybe 12-15% on LTE. overnight my note 5 used to drop around 8-10% but last night it dropped only 2%. i am very happy. 15. overall the performance has improved. no heating issues while gaming. 16. samsung pay has stopped working. it says ""samsung pay coming to more devices, stay tuned". 17. no always on display :-(

IE, I have a rock solid fast version of TouchWhiz, everything is just perfect. I really do not understand why Samsung didn't launch this in the UK, they really blew it because people would have bought one instead of the Note 7 after the recall and that would have hurt Apple. On that subject, I don't know why anyone would buy an iPhone, even an 7 Plus over a Note or S7. So much more versatile and more innovative UX features too.

  • Here in UK unexpectedly came across a 32GB AT&T branded Note 5. Popped my EE Sim in and spent an hour testing everything and ended up buying it. Had two Note 4s before and wow what an improvement. I had ano S6 and 7 and it seems like a mix of all three phones. Minus waterproofing which I don't need. Really nice. If anyone has any tips etc be grateful. It has Marshmallow (doesn't want to.upgrade further) and being it still has AT&T software do you think I need to do a full reset to make it full EE and get Nougat? I don't want to root ithe. Thanks.

  • I went to the local market, strangely all the shops quoted me a price of around 40k... The least I got was 40.3k... Now I doubt that how he is providing the note 5 for 30k ( maybe a faulty unit or something else)... Also, I went to a shop where I have sold all my previous phones ( that shop offers the highest value in the market and olx )... He quoted me a price of 22k for my op3, which is too low considering that its just 3 months old... I guess the odds are not in my favour, the note 5 is not for me... Its not that I would not be able to afford it, but there is too much to compromise... And I don't wanna do that... One offer I got is that if I pay through card then I would get a flat 10% off, but that still brings the price down to 36k, which I think is still high considering my budget and the fact that after the S8 the prices are gonna fall anyway...   • 2.5D is more annoying than fully edge screen. note 5 also has 2.5D glass and tempered glass produces halo effect. but there are some really good and costly screen protectors which fit perfect on edge screen. same brand's costly screen protectors never properly fit on 2.5D screen

  • i also have doubts regarding that and since i have never owned a curved screen device so i am not very aware. brands like spigen make good screen protectors but price for edge screen based screen protectors is like 1000-2000 rupees for 1 screen protector. also many good brands are not available in india for example- when i was searching for note 5 tempered glass all were producing Halo around the edges only a brand named ZAGG had tempered glass which din't produce any halo but it was not available in india and importing it costed 3500 rupees and that was insane so i gave up and put a spigen film screen protector. i recommend you to search Youtube and Xda forums and you will get to know what fits, what doesn't, price, availability and many more things.

  • When my S6 edge plus broke, I upgraded to a Note 5. I have only had this phone for a little over a year. I have had no problems up until about 2 months ago. The screen will go turn off and when I go to unlock the phone, the screen wont turn back on unless I hit the home button 20 times. The pen continuously falls out of the phone. The pen will only write on a portion of my screen which never had any problems before. The phone is in great condition. I have had it in a otterbox ever since I bought it. Have never dropped it in water or anything. I have no idea why it just all of a sudden started having problems.

Or should I buy LG Stylus 2 Plus, which offers the same stylus functionalities and has decent specs compared to Note 5 and comes in half the price of Note 5 with removable battery, dual SIM and expandable memory. What are the cons Note 5 has regarding non expandable memory? How is memory management of note 5, out of 4gb ram normally how much is used in day to day working?   • this is what i told you, everybody's needs and lifestyle is different, that is why i tell you not to get 32gb. my work needs a laptop so anywhere i go, i want or i don't want i have to carry an extra computing device. so i make full use of the extra computing device by using it for media consumption. also my house and my workplace are 15mins apart and both have good internet facility so i am covered totally. one or two exceptions may be if i go for a long drive or dinner with family or g.friend or catch a flight and during these instances i care less about what song or video i am bringing with me. moreover i rarely go out of my daily monotonous life. i am a working professional and not a college/school student that i have to care about what songs or videos should i be listening while i am on the move i prefer reading a magazine or newspaper. even my peers are like minded. no way i am saying more storage is bad. bigger is better. but i am fine with 32gb and i will be fine with 64gb or 128gb or 1TB on my phone. difference in storage won't affect my daily activities even by 1%. for your needs that is 64gb, dual sim, note 5, below 40k is impossible in my opinion. also note 5 64gb+dual sim is nowhere available online and is around 53k according to samsung plaza. so you are in a deadlock state. btw op3 is not a bad device u should keep it.

  • if you have storage issues then don't go for note 5. i stream everything now as i have good internet speeds. 32gb is ok for me. 64gb was my preference but since it was out of stock for ever, so i had to buy 32gb. netflix,youtube,apple music,google photos,google drive..etc have made life very easy. i am not interested in mobile games at all. but i know India is still to develop in terms of streaming services and people still store honey singh songs in micro sd cards and use xender and bluetooth for sharing. i have 11gb internal left as of now. so bro if you are going to have issues don't buy note 5 32gb. every person has different needs. also regarding touchwiz(new one) it is still not my favourite ui but those Note series specific apps leans me towards it. my next device will be a note 8 for use but not s8/s7 simply because i need the note specific apps. lastly regarding price. after the s6 launch samsung said that its price won't be as volatile as it used to be earlier. you might have seen prices not dipping as it used to like in case of s4,s5,note4. so don't be very optimistic and don't think prices would drop by 7k or 8k for s7/s7 edge. c4etech made a video on samsung pricing. watch it you will understand better what i am saying. also s7 and note 5 are 2 different series that cater to different audiences don't mix them.

  • i have both note 4 and note 5 with me. note 4 users keep on arguing about non removable battery and expandable storage. expandable storage i agree is subjective. but my last 4 phones have been non expandable storages and i have been totally dependent on streaming everything and can live my life happily. but if you still keep lot of files offline then get 64gb note 5. regarding removable battery, it is a dying feature. remember the lg v20 which was always talking about removable battery has moved to a sealed one with lg g6. now even if you consider expandable storage and removable battery as 2 great features still nothing beats the fact that the soc is quite old and slow and on top of that the old laggy touchwiz is just pathetic. my note 4 camera has focus issues now and it has been a big issue with many note 4 devices around the world. many note 4 users say it is the best note device but no one says it is quite slow and pathetic to use nowadays. neither it receives new updates nor it can handle new updates. marshmallow made my note 4 crap. get note 5 32gb only if you agree to stream music,photos,docs else go for 64gb but never go for note 4 today.

  • see i would recommend buying good headphones if you have flagship phone. my note 5 with poweramp beta app with hi-res output enabled and FLAC music files and audio technica m50x sounds godly. good audio hardware, good headphones and good music files will make you just wow!!! the camera is very very good(actually op3 has a very average camera) and the internal storage is very fast. the dual sim variant is officially launched in India. samsung plaza stores have them displayed. even samsung official website and e-store has the dual sim variant displayed. you are actually right in saying that the price will reduce after s8 launch but exactly on which date will it reduce is hard to be predicted. 1 day after s8 launch or 1 month after s8 launch. however you can wait for cashback that samsung offers from time to time. i got my note 5 during 10% cashback period. s7 prices will not fall by huge margins. no way it will get below 40k.

  • bro to put it straight op3 has better raw performance, damn fast charging and lil bit better memory management and there is no denying that. buying note 5 depends totally upon your needs. first ask yourself if you are going to use the s-pen. my first need for the note device is s-pen as i use it so often that my spen has discolored. now if you have a very good headphone something like audiotechnica m50x then due to dedicated wolfson dac note5 is far better than op3. similarly there are others things like camera, fast storage, screen quality, a plethora of accessories, larger screen estate that makes note 5 a good buy. coming to your question on service centers, samsung has dedicated service centers almost everywhere. my city has 2 samsung service centers and one plus has none(nearest one is 250km far in kolkata). this 'having service center in the city' thing also affects reselling your device in future on OLX..etc. motherboard or screen replacement takes 2-3 months in case of one plus and in case of samsung it may be 7-10days. i would say note 5 and op3 are similar in terms of performance but i would choose note 5 anyday especially due to spen,camera,screen and audio. note 5 has a dual sim variant and it will cost you more(around 40k). you can buy note 5 if you want but still it is a hard choice coz op3 is a very good device for the price.

  • it is hard to tell but try these- 1. switch on data roaming in mobile networks. 2. change access point name(APN) to appropriate values according to ur network provider. 3. try booting the phone in safe mode and then check once again (search google to know how to boot in safe mode). if you are able to connect without any problems then the issue could be caused by an app. find out what app this is and uninstall it. 4. sadly if nothing helps then do a hard reset.

  • Guys... I usually charge my note 5 using the provided fast charger adaptor. Though it charges my device lot faster it heats up the device with a significant marine. Then I turned off the fast charge option from the smart manager and used the same adaptor. Then I noticed something strange. My phone doesn't heat up so much as before and the battery life is also improved. Now I wanna know if I use the adaptive charger with the fast charging disabled will it cause any harm to my device???? Please guys let me know.... :)

  • everyone has a choice and it is ok, but saying that your type of work needs more phone memory so i should also get more memory is not ok. although i wanted 64gb but since it was out of stock for a long time so i got 32gb(no budget constraints). i stream everything possible. plus i treat my laptop as my 1st computing device for almost everything possible. since i have to carry my laptop to my office everyday so it becomes my default browsing and media consumption device. for many a phone is the only media consumption device and they definitely need more gb but not me. my work gives me the liberty of have an extra bigger and better computing device but for many a phone might be more than enough so they need more gb. my phone only helps me order an uber, shop online, pay bills,make calls, stream some music, youtube, read news on the go, rarely take few pictures, and reply some queries for which i need spen and for all that i don't need huge storage but i would love to have some extra. regarding extra battery, till what date one should use a phone just for removable battery coz most of them are old devices now(not lg v20). removable battery is gone and i have moved on. maybe 3.5mm jack has the same fate.

  • I'm just visiting again, after heavily criticizing how Samsung for making a half-baked Galaxy Note.5 months ago. It was suppose to be my "upgrade", however, only 32 GB internal memory was the big joke. I'm coming from the 32 GB Note 3, and I'm using a 128 GB microSD - rather silly to buy a downgraded "flagship". As an architect, I use the S Pen more often than the general users. After 45 days with the Note7, I was back with my Note 3 with a 10,000mAh extended battery. It would seem the sealed battery treatment is also a big letdown. I'm still up for a free smartphone from my telco since the Note.5, and Note7 recall. The Note.5 is still being offered - and that's the only Galaxy Note that I would never get because of no memory expansion.

  • Note 5 and S6 edge+ are more or less the same except for the s-pen. If you want style go for the S6 edge+ if you want s-pen then go for the sober note 5 both phones are gorgeous. I recently bought the edge+ as I liked it's design.

  • i use note 5 specially because of the s-pen, music and vr. for facebook, reading and all that stuff i could have got any midrange device. note 5 is useful especially for my office work. so note 5 was never for you bro. you mentioned the kind of work you do so any midranger for you is perfectly fine. 5000 mah battery is always an advantage. regarding sd card slot i have a habit of living without it coz i have been using only non expandable devices since past 3 years so everything i have is on the cloud(and i have a damn good internet). please don't argue with camera or DAC(music quality) or gaming capability or number of sensors of any midranger with flagship. when i sell my device i still get good deal on that unlike any midranger. lastly when i was talking flagship and midranger comparison i was talking about at max one generation gap. i think you will admit nobody ditches midrange phones faster than samsung does. search xda, note 5 has a damn good active page but a9 pro doesn't even have one. this is what i was saying. you check note 4, nexus 6p pages on xda, they are although old but are still active on xda and i have both of them even till today. flagships have a good life expectancy even if companies ditch them developers are still active with them. remember a7,a8 2015 where are they? they vanished, no sign on xda or any development forum. check out note 4 it is still running good on xda. there is a usage pattern which decides whether you need a flagship or a midranger or a low end device. your needs perfectly suits a midrange phone and you got one so that is perfectly fine. you don't need a flagship so you don't buy simple. till date i have used over 25 smartphones and there is nothing like "flagship type midranger".

  • It depends on your purpose of using smart phone.I use phone mostly for reading and using face book and internet.Now I am using A9 pro and it is quite satisfactory.I previously considered to change my A9 pro with Note5 because I like S pen and its better screen resolution.But A9 pro is better in respect of battery(5000 mah),sd card slot,bigger screen size and better front camera(8mp),so I finally decided not to change. S pen is not a need for me although I like it. A9 pro is not a normal mid ranger an it is closed to flagship type due to its specification,design and price.Furthermore please do not obses only flagship since old flagship is not as good as latest midranger.

  • I had my Note 2 forever. It worked great, did everything I needed it to do when I needed it to do it. I work construction so I go through a lot of phones when I fall on them, they fall out of my pocket, get rattled off the tailgate of a truck while sawing something, you name it. I finally broke my Note 2 when I was off the job working with a horse and she kicked me right in the back pocket where my phone was and shattered the screen. Just my luck. They no longer made the Note 2 so I upgraded to a Note 5, bought a case for it and went on about my business. I rely heavily on my phone to get from Point A to Point B between job sites through areas I am unfamiliar with, I constantly get text messages and phone calls from coworkers, my boss and clients. However this Note 5 will not send texts, will not receive texts until hours after the sender sent them or not at all, will not receive phone calls or tell me I missed a call and will not let me make calls. The GPS will not tell me how to get to my destination, just sits in the same spot and spins which does not help me at all. This is when I have a decent to excellent signal strength so it has no excuses! It has made my job extremely difficult and frustrated my coworkers as they cannot get in touch with me. I do take a lot of photos of jobs I am working on and the phone takes a decent picture and I can pretty much access the internet at any time I want, those are the only things I like about it, but everything that makes a phone a phone is just not there for me. The only thing it's good for is sitting on my desk at the job site holding down my blueprints on a windy day. If I wasn't so busy I would take it into Verizon but I just don't have time, it's driving me insane.

  • I bought this phone for about a year, when updates was done succesfull but get worst with my battery, if im using LTE the battery drains in just 15mins and its very hot in its back cover..i read all opinions and tried many times for troubleshooting, i went to samsung store but they did not recognized it if theres a defect.. im using this phone for WIFI use only, very BIG dissapointed about its LTE.

  • Had to root in day one. The DPI in TouchWiz is ridiculous. Way too big. And without Xposed, you will suffer in Whatsapp. The keyboard takes the whole screen. Idiotic. Root your device. I have no regrets. Look for it in XDA.

  • the different model names indicate the region(country) in which they are sold because every region has a different frequency band for communication. also different models include different charging adapters and different wireless charging standards(Qi/ PMA) depending on the country in which the device is sold so naming them differently helps. also different models have slightly different firmware installed for example note 5 n920g sold in India has no samsung pay but US version has that. more example like carrier bound note 5 has carrier specific bloatware compared to unlocked versions. imo these things leads to different model names.

  • It depends on which version of A8 are you talking about. The Galaxy A8 2015 has the same screen size but FHD, same battery size, no S-Pen, good camera, 2 GB of RAM instead of 4 GB, has different processors and etc. The Galaxy A8 2016 has the same processor as the Note5, same screen size with FHD resolution, 3 GB of RAM, a slightly bigger battery than Note5 and etc. For the Galaxy Note5, you will still be able to get software updates until the end of next year. I will go for the Galaxy Note 5.

  • me too a former note3, note4 and now a note 5 user. for me the battery is above average just like most flagship devices lasts one complete day. i would not compare its battery with my secondary phone the redmi note3(which has an awesome battery life) but after using some flagships devices i know most flagships have above average battery life whearas midrangers nowadays have very good battery. coming to storage it totally depends upon the person using it. there are people who store movies,tons of pictures,music on local storage and then there are people who just stream everything. i am on the second group and stream on netflix, gaana, apple music, pictures on cloud, documents on google drive since ages and my internet is good. but bigger storage is always better to have and i am stuck with 32gb only because 64gb was out of stock since one month.

In fact, I find Note5 is a very good and awesome device provided you want to sacrifice two basic needs 1. Internal memory(32/64 gb) is not sufficient. No external memory slot 2. Battery life is not at all good. but quick charge will you. It's Camera is very good at par with other top end camera phones available at present. S-Pen is just marvellous. Very user friendly device.

  • Mixed review. This is a great phone for business in terms of storage, ease of use and the S Pen. The camera is amazing. However, the battery is pathetic. I've tried getting rid of apps, using an all-black theme and wallpaper, 20% bright, etc. and the battery simply doesn't measure up to my last phone (iPhone 4). I carry a quick-charge portable charger which helps but this shouldn't be necessary. If you actually use your business apps and email, expect a very short life before a charge is needed. Under 2 hours in some cases. Maybe I got one of the lemons. I probably won't choose Samsung for my next phone. IF this phone did have a way of extending the battery life, it would be the best phone available.

  • Dont buy Galaxy note 5. it has a common issue with its display. I bought one fone on last september and the display bcame blurred ; later i came it was ink spreading in their words. how ever it never fell down since i bought. with in a day the display bcame blank and black. i went to service centre they said its physical damage and might have fell down. i am the person who has to say whether fell or not... they didnt service ma fone under guarantee . i had to spend 11000 to repire it with in a month i bought. how pathetic. THE REAL THING I WANT TO SAY IS THIS MODEL HAS AN ISSUE NAMED DISPLAY PRESSING EVEN WITH A SMALL PRESSURE IN OUR POCKET.   • Hei guys , I really need to buy a telephone so i think of note 5 or galaxy s7 , I dont know which is better and which is faster ? I heard that s7 has problems with internet and it is not fast enough but note 5 is faster although it has weak batteri , I dont know , can i get help here ,please ?

  • I just got my Note 5 in the mail yesterday and in the short time I've owned it, I can honestly say this is the best phone I've ever owned. It's the full package. The only thing that is a negative is it doesn't have the Ir LED Blaster which is the infrared sensor used as a universal remote control. I used that a lot on my Note 4 but unfortunately the note 5 lacks this feature. Other than that it's great!
