Samsung Galaxy Prevail - User Reviews

  • it does not requested a sim card

  • How do I install my sim card.

  • I have one but I can't use it in Ghana cos of the mobile network mode

  • did it come with a small card?

  • ok..cause my phone slide off the roof of ny car..forgot if it came with a card. The phone survived!

  • no it doesnt. got one last night

  • Why do you say that.!? I'm just curious, because I might be buying it off a friend tomorrow.!!??

  • does this phone have a front and back camera.!?

  • Does it have a front an back camera.!?

  • Does this phone come with a sim card?

  • How do you even turn it on

  • How can you turn on voice commands

  • Perhaps you could download Google Keyboard from Google Play Store.

  • I hate this phone I'll be glad when I get a new one it freezes alot sends text 3 and 4 times when I only sent one moves Sooooooo slow I can just go to look at pics already in my phone and it acts as if it had to load I really hate this phone moves slowly just going to call log SMH

  • Do not buy this phone! Every phone will do a Butt dial, but this phone has a lock, so it will not dial any one, except. When an alarm goes off, then it has the emergency call option, which so far Boost has told me I can not get rid of. Anyway, my alarm goes off, and then it dials 911. THIS PHONE WILL CAUSE YOU TO DIAL 911 ALL THE TIME. This is a real problem for Emergency services, do not buy this phone!

  • how can I use sim. can I use it in Ghana

  • it is possible that you have a virus on your phone or you may have too many apps going at the same time try resetting everything on it perhaps this will help you

  • I love this phone I haven't had any problems with it the, only thing is, I hate I can't add words to my dictionary and I can't figure out how to do the voice command but other than that it's perfect.

  • bostmobiles

  • I would like the phone muchbetter if it didn't freeze up all the time why does it keep freezing ? I have to take batt our at least twice a day. Sometimes more

  • How do u even download words with friends? It wont let me

  • Samsung Galaxy Prevail is a Really great phone even you can install flash player and watch TV on your Samsung Galaxy Prevail ( not any iphone can't install flash player ). Those people talking Bad About The Samsung Galaxy Prevail. Don't know nothing how to use it.

  • CDMA, there is not any version of this phone with SIM Card

  • i was duped into buying this piece of junk,i could never access voice mail, the top on/off button didn't allow me to access the keypad to enter the code to access voice mail,if i tried the phone would shut off,the battery life was bad, sound quality terrible!could not send emails or retrieve them.as soon as i realized all the malfunctions were not user errors, from day one,no tech support, even a geek tech could figure out this paper weight's problems!!hated this phone, prevail 1,prevail 2,buyer beware waste of time and waste of hard earned money!!!!!

  • where can I insert my sim card because I can not find any sim port in the phone

  • The specs are wrong the gallaxy prevail is cdma 1900 only. It does not support cdma 800

  • I got this phone mostly because I needed an inexpensive smartphone with GPS/voice navigation. It's been a good phone for the most part, but I have noticed a few things that make it not so desirable. 1) The memory. Extremely limited, so I can only have the apps on that are necessary for living, which means, the only game I can play is words with friends. 2) Lately my phone has been resetting itself to EST in the middle of the night, and I am in CST, which means the alarm has been going off an hour early the last few days. I could use that hour of sleep. 3) It can't handle a lot of demand, and tends to freeze up when you try to make it respond like you want it to. I've had to take the battery out several times to unfreeze it. 4) The Android thing. It runs on 2.2, not 2.3 as it says it does, which means a lot of Android apps will not work with this phone, even if you have the space for it. 5) The camera is pitiful. Resolution is not good, and video is even worse, and don't bother trying to zoom. All it does is blur. It does pick up sound really well, so if you want to record church sermons, or school lectures, or what have you, there's an app for that (feature doesn't come with phone) and the sound is fairly good. All in all, I'd say the phone is ok for first-time smartphone users, but don't expect it to work like an iphone. Because it just doesn't.

  • big mistake, cannot manage memory, cannot transfer videos to memory, lot of problems...waste of money...

  • totally hate this phone!!!!! Does not come with a very good manual. When something goes wrong on it theres no where to find out how to fix it

  • If this phone had 512 MB of internal usable memory (or heck even 256) it would be the best budget phone. But due to the limited internal mem, I had to do a little searching and rooting. I ended up with Cyanogenmod 7 and a data-2-SD setup so now the phone "thinks" there's 1 GB (or otherwise a specifiable amount) of internal storage for lots more apps. Recommend a 32 GB class 10/UHS 1 sd card for best results (and space obvs). This phone is a little rough around the edges, but you can smooth them out yourself to make it shine.

  • This phone SUX!!! Best use is for paper weight or shark bait. Memory sucks, battery sucks, apps hardly EVER work... This was a LARGE MISTAKE buying this P.O.S.!!! DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE !!!!!

  • I hate this phone, my biggest issue is that the internal memory is so bad you can only download an app or 2 then the internal memory is full and that really sucks. I will say it has lasted me a long time and has proven very durable, I have dropped it a couple times and it still works but it does have a mind of it's own and it's pretty slow even with 3g activated. I finally came up with the cash to upgrade and can't wait to throw this phone in the trash!

  • Battery does not stay charged

  • No this phone is NOT a sims card phone

  • Does this phone have a sims card

  • i barleey had the phone for sbout 3 months and its already messing up it doesnt charge right for me and i have problems with the voice commands and everytime i try to exit something it doesnt want to work i think its time for a new phone

  • I have had this phone for 9 months and love it. The first couple days getting used to it was tough. Now I am unable to update the operating system. Is this phone capable of running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is necessary to use mobile banking?

  • Even though the specs say this phone has a proximity sensor, it doesn't. The phone automatically switches into sleep more when a call is made or received. Usually when you pull the phone away from your head it switches back on. Without a proximity sensor the phone is unable to d o this so you have to do it manually...

  • can the prevail be used as internet connection evn though it's 3g?

  • notification ringtone for messages doesn't want to stay on. screen freezes as well during calls.

  • Love this phone at first hated it! But now lov it. My boyfriend drop it and pounded on it several times and still works!!

  • i love the phone its awsome but the first day i bought it , it froze on me as well as it does every day now and i have only had it for a week everytime i make a call and try to end the call i cant end it because the screen freezes but if i touch the power button and i unlock the phone it works again. so maybe its just the phone or the software.

  • I love this phone haven't had any problems with it yet

  • I hate this phone. not getting texts and have to reset it everyday. Now phone won't even reset. It is stuck on 100% reset, when it should reboot at 100%. going on 2 hours now and phone has not reset itself. This is crazy and a waste of my money. Only had the phone for a month wow. Paid 1 bill and having trouble already. I'm getting rid of it as soon as I can. I rather go back to basic then this phone.

  • No

  • when yu receive a call ,yu can end it by pressing power key which is on the top..the power key(when a call is active) either locks yua phone or end the call..yu have to choose the option..yu can do it by goin in to settings and the call settings

  • Have u figured out how to set personalizes ringtones for the txt msges

  • this phone sucks dont buy it, wont let u get txt u have to power down almost everyday or a few times a day

  • Only had this phone for 6months and it wont charge anymore, I was told if I bought the battery once I would have to keep doing it!!

  • Have you figured out how to end a call yet? Anytime I get an answering machine, I have to power down the phone because it won't let me end the call.

  • I HATE THIS PHONE!!! I'm actually going back to a "dumb" phone after this nightmare.Rebooted several times thru boost mobile.Battery life sux. Overheats during a five minute conversation.Apps freeze.3G is slow.Internet virtually non-existant.Touch screen freezes.Takes pics of whatever ,wherever randomly. Can't end a phone call. And the list goes on.Worst POS i have ever owned in my life..DO NOT BUY !!!

  • I've had this fone for 9 months. No complaints except for the internal memory. they really should've made this with at least 100mb more. Not alot more but it makes a big difference

  • On month number 8. This phone has gone through more than other androids would and still works like a charm. An excellent purchase.

  • Yes, you made the wrong decision. This phone has very little internal memory and can not support but a few apps. I hate it.

  • i've had mine for 9 months and have had to send it off to samsung to repair 2 times! the first time it was dropping calls and had no service after boost master reset it, the second time it froze and wouldn't work at all. and now it says it's charging when there is no charger connected. i wouldn't recommend this phone, it's truly been a pain to send it away for 2 weeks or more especially when i depend on my phone for my job

  • I just ordered this phone. Did I make a mistake?

  • if u shut off wifi and bluetooth is makes the battery ;last longer

  • its a good phone but i cant find where u delete ringtones

  • I love it the battery could be better but as for speed and efficancy its great i love the meomory, battery gets warm and takes awhile to charge its loud dont like the single tones message sounds but overall its a good phone and i would reccomend it.

  • Yup u right the battery dies out quick with in 2 hours or less

  • The galaxy prevail is a great phone but the battery dies out extremly fast

  • Samsung Galaxy Prevail is an Android smartphone with 3.2" display. It is part of the Samsung Galaxy family and its model number is sph-m820. It is sold exclusively by Boost Mobile. It has 2MP camera, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and supports up to 32GB microSD memory cards. It is powered by a Qualcomm 800 MHz MSM7000 chip. It shipped with Android 2.2 Froyo.[1] Through firmware updates, it now runs Gingerbread 2.3.5 Battery is a 3.7v Li-ion, 1500 mAh, model EB504465VA (Which is also compatible with the Samsung Acclaim r880, Samsung Craft r900, Samsung Indulge r910, Samsung Intercept m910, Samsung Replenish m580, Samsung Showcase i500, Samsung Sidekick 4G t839 and Samsung Transform m920.)

  • I guess Samsung changed the Prevail later in production. Mine is a month old today. It came with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. It has WiFi as I use it on my router at home. The battery gets warm sometimes, but never hot. A full charge with heavy use last all day. The phone has never locked up and is very quick. Network performance is great here in Tulsa. I think I would be insisting that Sprint / Boost update my older Prevail.

  • HATE this phone. I can start the day with a full battery and by lunch it's dead, even with limited use, such as texting on and off. The phone freezes almost every time I open an app or make a call. And it overheats whenever I'm doing anything but light texting. The phone is slow as heck and lags like crazy. I've had it for five months and intend on replacing it as soon as I can, as it's performance deteriorates a little more each day. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.

  • The battery power really does suck, I mean literally sucks. I plugged my phone into the charger and the battery percentage went down

  • the battery sucks dosent stay charged for long and sometimes i will have the phone pluged in the charger overnight and i wake up and it says 0 percent charged

  • no wlan who want to use mobile without wlan

  • It's your basic, basic device! Nothing spectacular, battery power really sucks

  • I think the galaxy prevail needs to be updated a bit more the connections stink i cant get any connection 3 g or network and wont send text I dont believe it is all its racked up to be..

  • If I use my phone for a hour the battery gets whot, the phone says battery too hot must shut down. When I use it t off the charger for two hours my charge goes below 20% . I called boost, they had me reset factory settings, no improvement. I also lost facebook &urbansocia after I reset.About to take it back and get a different phone!

  • If I use my phone for a hour the battery gets hot, the phone says battery tnoo hot must shut down. When I use it oe take it off the charger for two hours my charge goes belpw 20% . I called boost, they had me reset factory settings, npmpro

  • sorry it says WLAN = NO, so no WiFi. WLAN is WiFi

  • yes it does have wifi, and there are roms and other mods available for it already too. I currently own it and have cyanogen running on it. It's a decent phone, but it's lacking in the memory department. With your phone rooted and sdcard partitioned, you can bypass the memory limitation by using Link2SD in android market.

  • some people says it has wifi other ones it doesnt, what t.f.k with that? mine is coming today and i will know...

  • I have this phone and I use wifi all the time, what you mean it doesn't have wifi?

  • No, and you'd want something with a more powerful CPU for that.

  • Yes

  • Does it have a front camera to video chat?

  • Yes it does have why fi

  • does it not have wi-fi ??? pls answer!!

  • Is It Better Than a Blackberry Curve 8530

  • Da phone has wifi I'm using it right now on wifi it just don't have a hot spot built in it

  • whatz the price of it? its an sexy handset!!!!!!!!!

  • in such a great there is no wifi ..................................

  • i think its a little to high y'all need to booost it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how about ram??

  • for any one whose looking for a mid ridge fone. this is it the pravail won't let u down, is a great fone!

  • does it have wifi???

  • so which is it? Does it have a wifi or not? coz in the specs it says WLAN - NO... :(

  • It does have WIFI ready...

  • i have this phone for a week now and it works great, their is no need for any other phone for this network. Buy it and you will see 200$ is put to good use, the android apps run smooth, (i dl'd a few different types) except barcode app, because the one downfall is the cam, no flash, 2mp but i only take maybe 10 pics a year so no big deal,& battery life isn't as long as i'd like but this is because i play around with games and stuff, unlike some other "phones" i could always buy a second battery if i wanted/ needed too.

  • it does have wifi ready lol

  • Samsung Galaxy Prevail OS Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) CPU Qualcomm MSM7627-3 800 MHz processor

  • it's a little bit disappointing that this phone is not WIFI ready. although you get unlimited everything from boost.. but we all know that the coverage is not always that good. i'm currently using the blackberry from boost... was hoping to upgrade my phone.. looks like i'll be downgrading it.. aside from the touch screen features and other specs.. it's one of the most high tech phones that boost has.. and i think this might be worth it for all the unlimited surfing that you will be doing.. it's easier to surf here than through the blackberry.. but i still really prefer something with WLAN.

  • That's an amazing mobile with great specifications. After this mobile my expectation's on samsung have highly increased Thanks you samsung for releasing such a good phone -

  • I love Samsung Galaxy Prevail Wow Camera Primary 2 MP,1600x1200 pixels Features Geo-tagging

  • Kindly update specifications GSMArena ASAP.

  • I just watched the whole 14 minute video, but didn't see anything about hotspots.. are you sure?

  • NO fm, caution

  • nice phone

  • Has anyone tried using the Quick Settings app to make the galaxy prevail a wifi hotspot?

  • Poorman's Android. Step up from boost's only other android the i1 Though even that1 had a better camera and was running on Cupcake. The wifi seems to be under question. Until verified it is still a good budget phone for someone without a contract.

  • It looks like another good spec Samsung phone. They've really got their act together at the moment! I'm using the Nexus at the moment and it's good to see they're pushing Android as far as they can. Cheers, @thecollective01 (Twitter)

  • Good mobile in low budget for who want anroid and cant buy high price android phone now every one can enjoy to android taste.but one thing i feel very bad that is edge and gprs. and other wise good phone

  • Good mobile in low budget for who want anroid and cant buy high price android phone now every one can enjoy to android taste.but one thing i feel very bad that is edge and gprs. and other wise good phone

  • Guys It has a WiFi HotSpot I JUST watched it on Youtube

  • I like the phone design..but i lacks a lot of features..specially the wifi department, it's even gifted with froyo 2.2 but it's not worth it..

  • What the heck, this phone has a limited features..i like the design but its lacking a lot of features specially the wifi department.

  • very backward and dump phone
