Samsung Galaxy S5 (octa-core) - User Reviews

  • There is no option of 4G in this mobile how can i use 4G in this mobile?

  • And it has many things: 2g,3g,wifi,amoled,removable battery, compact size, infrared, heartrate sensor,fingerprint,ip67,touch sensitivity and atleast it has marshmallow. So don't worry just for lte. Even lte will be outdated after 5G launch

  • only thing it lacks is lte :(

  • It has been sorted out,i'm now back at the original touchwiz launcher, all i had to do was to uninstall the other touchwiz launcher through the ''Application manager'' seettings tab. Now to the usually Galaxy s5 talks, anyone wanting to buy any mid-range (in 2017 context) smartphone and is not planning to be changing smartphones so regularly should definitely try the Galaxy s5 or the Note 4; because their heart can always be replaced (that's their battery....lol) .All these new sealed-in smartphone do make swapping a long worn-out battery a problem (Go to OEM's centre to replace a battery AT A COST and all the issues that comes with being given a defective unit in replace)

  • Thanks Original-Jamaican..... i'm in a bit rock and a hard place ; i installed a non-compatible touchwiz home which is now messing up my home screen, can't use my home screen,it's not stable for me to use,can you use a good file explorer and back-up your touchwiz home system app for me ,counting on you bro.

  • To Original-Ghanaian: My friend I'm not surprised you used my name though it may be the first time you have done it...I realised a long time ago that I am the inspiration behind your name 'Original-Ghanaian'. Nothing is wrong with a little inspiration. On the topic of phones, the only reason why I wouldn't go for a Note 4 is because of it's size. The S5 is a near perfect fit for me. The Note 4 is an exceptional smartphone just like the S5, and like the S5, the Note 4 is the last best flagship to date.

  • Actually you are playing with yourself I doubt.

  • Used the wrong user name for the comment, it's me Original-Ghanaian who wrote the post....lol typo mistake

  • Next update for this is mobile

  • Things I do to my Galaxy S5 exynos that makes it run smoothly, I always keep the internal storage less clustered I have 6.4GB of free internal as I speak.Others might have many apps on their phone but to have a smooth machine you should have enough internal storage, not have so so many social media apps processes runnning at the background and also making sure you properly exit apps so they don't stay in the ram for long. Secondly with the battery, mine has started to age, I do not always charge to 100% so not to always stress it , and I take good care not to over charge the battery.I get 3hrs and some minute of SOT out of the 100% charge on a typical day, which involves a lot of opera mini and whatsapp, these are the only apps I frequently use (as I use Facebook on opera mini) Thirdly with performance I would say it's a mixed feelings as I feel the galaxy s5 exynos could do better, nevertheless it's powerful,it has handled e'vry game I've thrown to it's so I'm quite satisfied, performance is quite good regardless of what some benchmark might say , I'm planning to get a new battery because I haven't changed her battery since I got it on 27th Nov 2015 I'm still planning on keeping it to 2018 that's if I still available new batteries to buy, in my opinion batteries are the heart of a smartphone so making them removable are always the best options, and moreover battery cells get worn-out with constant usage and charging so the need to make them removable. I would recommend it, well solely based on the removability of the battery and it's powerful camera picture quality. my next upgrade ? A note 4 (because of it's 32GB internal storage and it's beefier gpu model, the exynos version ) So positives about the Galaxy s5 exynos ; 1. Good general performance, superb good camera 2. Ok battery life (it really depends upon your usage) 3. REMOVABLE BATTERY (get a new one if old is trouble)

  • Undoubtedly the best and fastest phone I have ever had. Even after nearly three years of use, the battery is still chugging along nicely. I'm not getting the 5-6 hours of On Screen Time (OST) like I use to get when I just got the phone but I can easily get a few hours just the same, sometimes 2 1/2 hours sometimes more than 3 hours. The proprietary Samsung browser uses very little power. I'm constantly impressed at how it barely uses any power...over Wi-Fi while on Facebook, it takes 5 minutes - 7 minutes before it loses a percent. I was shocked the other day when it took 12 minutes at one point before a percent was depleted while browsing around on Facebook. Visiting other websites using the Samsung browser generally yields the same results. If I should conduct a test using the built-in Samsung browser ONLY after fully charging my battery it would be interesting to see how much OST I would get. I'm sure at least 4 hours if not more. Even internet telephony doesn't consume a whole lot. For instance, a one hour Whatsapp call generally consumes 10% of battery power, sometimes 12% and sometimes 13%. Of course it all depends on what is happening in the background while you are on a call. The Samsung browser is just amazing and the Galaxy S5 is totally amazing. I see no reason to upgrade (or downgrade) as I still consider it the best smartphone to date.

  • To ORIGINAL-GHANAIAN: I am yet to receive the August update. The ONLY reason I haven't opted for the Note 4 is because of the huge size. I'm NOT a fan of phablets but I do like the Note 4, I really do. It got an excellent rating in GSMArena's loudspeaker test however, a few persons on the Note 4 forum said that the loudspeaker isn't so loud anymore ever since they upgraded to Marshmallow so if you purchase it maybe you want to get one running KitKat or Lollipop. Keep us posted my friend.

  • Hi e'vryone , has anyone tried the August security update yet, for a positive feedback I always back up my stuffs and reformat ma phone after e'vry security update once in a while I get any security update. I heard android 7.0 just landed on the s5 neo, and no the original s5 is not going to receive the android 7.0 too because it has gotten TWO OFFICIAL update already since it was first launched . I'm planning on getting a note 4 exynos since it has a removable battery, yeah I might as well get use to the non-removable battery era now...but I will have more good times with the note 4 just I'm having with the s5.....quite satisfied with it..I don't bog it down with many apps and I certainly don't leave many apps running in the background , useless I'm really multitasking.Hope u all well in the mobile space.

  • To Likeswhisky: Ok I don't know why you are experiencing problems. Mine is basically perfect. Which version of Android do you have on yours? I have the G900H factory unlocked version running Marshmallow.

  • Yes it's genuine purchased from Samsung store. Where i live we don't have carrier branding...

  • To Likeswhisky: Are you sure you have a genuine S5? If it's genuine, is it branded to T-Mobile, AT&T etc.?

  • Quite surprised seeing all the comments about fluidity. Mine has so much lag it's unbearable. I even hard reset it and it's no better. Even opening the phone dialer can take even upto 2 secs.

  • Galaxy S5(exynos) was released in India for Rs. 51000 (~ $800). I have bought this phone last year for Rs.12000 (~ $188). Only negative was the old software and the lack of support for it. Anyway i updated it to marsmallow(stock touchwiz) and reset the phone. It is running smoothly ever since. For this price, it has waterproofing, a great camera(for this price segment) and also removable battery.

  • Better go to service centre

  • My Sm g900h cell phone now has no sound and overheating. Please post a video how to do the fix on the mother board. Similiar to this video

  • Right

  • I guess the S5 has stopped receiving monthly security updates. My last update was for the month of April.

  • Samsung should learn from xiomy how to optimise the ram and improve battery life.

  • To CONSTANT £: I feel you my friend. I don't want to give up my S5 octa-core. I plan to keep it forever if possible.

  • Has anybody gotten security updates for May?

  • I have used Samsung Note 4, S5 (octa core), S6, S6 edge. honestly S5 (octa core) is the best. I have nothing else to say.

  • Guys, my S5 scored 45500 in antutu.... Unbelievable

  • Certainly.

  • The best phone, it still beats its successors in terms of features

  • I meant to say I have the April update but yet to get the May update.

  • Thanks for sharing your feedback little bro. I'm ok. I am yet to get the update. Will share my experience once I get it.

  • Got the April security update (222.21MB),so far the phone feel fast, I don't know if I'm seeing it that way.But general fluidity is good, with battery I can't notice any difference much..not draining TOO fast and not staying too LONG to drop off a percentage either, I will post a second review of the battery here as fast as I can. Whatsup to big bros VISHU and ORIGINAL-JAMAICAN

  • How was the phone after the 21mb update?

  • Any notable updates/comments?

  • 22 mb new security patch

  • The last Galaxy S with a removable battery and a myriad of features or better yet a complete rich list of features/

  • To VISHU: I got the April update last week and I see no difference in battery life.

  • Go ahead ;)

  • I downloaded the update of 15 mb. But not going to update it soon. Because lot of my friends said about battery draining issue.so i want to play safe game. When next update available, i will update then

  • After update some of feature like grayscale mode and mute songs or call by Turing mobile is gone and phone is octacore but it starts hanging while doing multitasking and stuck when I play small games. ..I hope samsung will read this and make sure they send some more updates.

  • Hi, I (SM-G900H-India) got an 15mb update. Can I update the mobile. Or else it has some negative impacts as mentioned by other people? Thank You !

  • SAMSUNG GALAXY S5 SM-G900H(India). Got an update for 15mb. Didn't updated yet. Is the update affects the phone as you mentiond? #Vishnu. Any other people updated your phone to this? Any commemts plzzzz....

  • To VISHU: I too have the octa-core and I'm yet to receive that update. I know I will eventually.

  • Octa Core

  • To Vishu: Thanks for sharing. Do you have the octa-core or quad-core version of the S5?

  • To Original-Ghanaian: Ok my friend.

  • I got update of 15MB on 1st April 2017. After update my battery started draining fast. Please do not update your phone.

  • A8 (2016) I meant to say

  • To Original -Ghanaian: My friend I have never heard of an A5 having a 5.7 so I double checked and saw where it has a 5.2" screen. Double check the model again and tell me which model you were referring to.

  • To SHAKIL: Which update are you talking about?

  • To Original -Ghanaian: I don't like extra large phones meaning 5.5 and up (unless it's a bezeless 5.5 S8 style). Anyway, going for a A5 (2016) due to it's 5.7 is not worthy in my book. I would prefer going for a Note 4. Much more features minus the radio plus OIS and all stabilisation you could ever want.

  • After update the s5 is rock. ..

  • I hope we also get the battery optimization, and device stability update the Note 4 just received .To put it out there ; I was actually about to start saving for a new Samsung phone , during the investigations I had settled down on the galaxy A5 (2016). Why ? because it had all I wanted in a smartphone ; fm radio, a fairly large screen (5.7') , a huge capacity battery (3300 Mah) a compact-slim profile (7.9mm or so) and above all a 2015 favourite chips the, Exynos 7240......BUT ! I got really disappointed with the lack of video stabilization , no gyroscope sensor meant no software enabled video stabilization. Yes the video footage I've investigated are pretty bad, really shaky like the new A series 2017. I really like my camera quality and video output to be best as I like videoing and taking pictures. So the only choice as usual is to jump on Samsung "buy a flagship to get premium features" train and get myself an s7, but just because of it's camera nothing else.

  • No idea whatsoever my friend.

  • When Samsung pay will arrive in S5 any idea?

  • To Original-Ghanaian: You can throttle the CPU by yourself by enabling the POWER SAVING feature...not the Ultra Power Saving one...the regular one which still allows you to do everything in colour but at a lower CPU clock speed.

  • To : Original Jamaican Really,it did free up more storage ? i also had the February security update long ago, just recently i formatted my phone, cleared caches and when i checked my available storage (without installing any apps) i had 9.9GB surprisingly. But apart from that nothing bad to write about,i wish the march security update improves throttling of the cpu cores more further so less strain on battery, let's say 1.8GHZ as max :-)

  • The last update I received for my S5 (February patch) was a cool one. It cleaned up my storage. Before the update, 7.60GB storage space was used up. After the update it went down from 7.60GB to 7.13GB. That's basically a 500MB trim. All of my personal files were still in tact so I have to commend Samsung for doing a wonderful job with these updates. Each update seems to improve the device better whether it be in speed or more storage not to mention secure the device against the latest threats. It's a win win situation any way you look at it.

  • Thanks for sharing. I also got Google Assistant update.

  • It's funny how the basically three year old S5 features 4k 2160p video recording and it's just now most of the competition is catching up. For example, the Huawei P10 flagship which just got released in this month is the first in the P series line to have 4K video recording. It took Huawei three years to catch up Samsung in the video recording department. I have always said that the Galaxy S lead by example. The Galaxy S always contains more features than the average consumer needs which is a good thing anyway you look at it.

  • To STEVANGORRE: Thanks for the tip and the information on how to get it.

  • Just make sure your system language is English (US) . Go through this link and opt for beta program >> . Become a beta tester for Google app also through play store then wait for some time then update hits your device and update in play store to get google assistant.

  • HOW YOU get goggle assistant

  • Hey! I got google assistant today...

  • That's the version I have as well,

  • smg900h – exynos octa core

  • What do you mean by flashes more than 3 times? Talking about the camera flash or the screen flashing? Be clear when asking questions.

  • I got that update a few days ago but the firmware file size wasn't that big. Which version of the S5 do you have?

  • why does my s5 switch off it's self when it flashes more than 3 times.can any one advise

  • Security Update for Feb 2017

  • To VISHU: What does this update include?

  • Update of 205.49 MB available for download

  • To ORIGINAL-GHANAIAN: Honestly I haven't seen anything that surpasses the S5 yet. I'm just not impressed with the current crop of smartphones. If a good upgrade comes along that I plan on getting, I will be sure to let you know but currently a lot of people say the S5 is still currently the best.

  • Hi Original-Jamaican good to see you still active in the Galaxy S5 user review, You make one not to upgrade from the Galaxy s5 , also a proud user.Out of curiosity Original-Jamaican what next smartphone will be considering next ?

  • You know I read several reports from official news sources that he uses an Android smartphone but neither of these sources stated the make or model. Thanks for shedding some light on the topic.

  • Funny thing is Mr. Trump does actually use a Samsung Galaxy (although it's a S3)! :P

  • It's funny how a lot of people criticised the S5 before it's initial release and after it's release. Some competing manufacturers said the back of the S5 looked like a big band-aid among other things. I found myself criticising it too mainly for the SAR rating until I got my very own which had a more acceptable SAR rating. All in all despite the criticisms the S5 turned out to be the best Galaxy S to date. It's the last of the series with a removable battery and the ONLY model with USB 3.0 and the list goes on. I see many persons out there begging Samsung to bring back certain features the S5 has. I'm a proud owner of a Galaxy S5.

  • You sound like Donald Trump.

  • Battery issue heating issue....very bad mobile.

  • disappointed with SG900H model, this phone does not support LTE 4G, i bought it for 40K indian rupees, i could not used it for 2 years even. models which are released in 10K range better than Galaxy S5 hate to hear that.

  • This is why its never a good idea to update any phone to the so called recent updated version...I learned this back in 2011 with Note 1...Once u update the original fast is gone..also we dont get much features in updated version...for example the recent android uses white background instead of peaceful black backgrounds...

  • In my opinion Samsung is trying to make galaxy s5 worse by making it laggy. You can see that galaxy s5 with KitKat is more fast and less battery drain than marshmallow. and force customers to buy newer phones which announced in 2016 and 2017.also you can notice that you can't downgrade your phone because of security patches they applied.

  • Oh Samsung.... listen me... Ur smart manager dont work on fb uc messenger etc. This application drain battery fast...do something

  • Why I can not update my SMG900H to newest firmware? Everytime the download is complete it shows error messege with 2 options ok and report! I tried it many times and same problem happened to me.

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H not enable 4G LTE. Anyone not buy G900H. Allow G900F 4G LTE yes.

  • No Nougat update for S5. Samsung provide android update for 2 years only as per contract.

  • Price 359MB Just for security update? And Please Tell me when nougat will release for Galaxy S5. I saw some news that nougat is released for s7. Do they Update older phones?

  • It's security update.so must update it

  • Got the update of 204 MB.

  • I Got 359MB update anyone please tell me what this update is for?

  • Update for 204mb. What was that? 🤔

  • Device is great, bought it on 2015,no problem yet and still work as new,

  • After update marshmallow battery drain very fast and i did factory reset and still the same. Any solution? :) Thanks.

  • Hello G900H users, I want to buy a mobile and finalized this one, Is this really a sensible purchase at this moment? bcoz its been almost 3 yrs since this device came out...I also looked at Redmi Note 3 which has LTE and other great features for the price...Could someone pls advice?

  • My s5 upgraded 6.01,but getting problems, when I use level u pro with this device then sounds makes crack.

  • Yes it is still great because of its amazing features at such prices. The camera is extraordinary in bright lights, waterproof which increases its life by 50%, memory card support (128gb) which is again great. Nice display and lightweight too . The only problem which i face is single sim and no 4g support too. Anyways the pros knockout the cons so cannot complain much. You should totally buy it

  • CyanogenMod for g900h ? anyone ? ive seen a thread on XDA about the unofficial CM for g900h but it has lots of bugs :/

  • This SmartPhone has to be the Ultimate in SmartPhones available today! It has almost every feature you can Imagine Including Finger Print Technology! With the availability of Upgrading your External Memory, and the Option to Replace your battery at any given time, your choices are open. Browser, Email, Text, all with grand speeds! Thx. Samsung!... • After using Marshmallow for more than a month I'm ready to give a seasoned review. Battery life is the biggest concern for every smartphone user. Marshmallow does offer better battery life at least from my perspective. My S5 octa-core (G900H) is 2 years and 2 weeks old as of today. I am using the original battery that came with the phone and I'm still able to get a full day of fairly heavy usage before charging. When I first installed Marshmallow, I would lose 1% of battery power after 2 minutes when browsing via Wi-Fi. However, I got to understand that the OS was studying my usage pattern and after a weel or so I saw improved battery life courtesy of the Doze Mode battery optimiser. After the OS and Doze Mode completed studying my usage pattern, I was able to access the Doze Mode feature once and for all after which I commanded Doze Mode to put ALL apps to stop running when the phone is sleeping. Only about two crucial apps cannot be put to sleep which is fine by me. After Doze Mode was set up, in using Wi-Fi, battery now loses 1% of power usually after 5 minutes of browsing. Not bad for a 2 year old battery. Now that the battery is out of the way I will talk about the other changes. Like I mentioned in my hands on review sometime ago, you have to input the password after a restart before you can use your fingerprint to unlock the phone. It seems annoying at first but eventually you get used to it. The overall speed of the S5 is much faster (providing you did a factory reset and wipe system cache). The UI is clean and smoother. The lag I use to see in the CALL LOG is no longer there and bringing up the dialler is much faster (even faster than the iphone 6 as I tested against with my co-worker's iphone on Saturday). Marshmallow provides greater speed than KitKat and Lollipop. My biggest gripe with Marshmallow is the way it handles the sending of e-mail. When an e-mail was sent previously you would see the word 'E-mail sent' in the status bar where the time time is shown right above the notification panel. Now you have to pull the notification panel down and if you are fast enough to pull it down before it is sent you will see E-mail sent in the notifications before it disappears one second after. If you look quick enough you may see an e-mail icon in the status bar with am arrow attached but that also disappears one second after. I send e-mails every day and the older method of seeing when mails were sent was useful. Nowadays I go to the sent folder more often to see if my mails were actually sent. Other than the e-mail gripe I really don't have a problem with Marshmallow. I would recommend it to every S5 user.

  • Thanks for great support Dev.

  • My Review After Using MM Stock OS & Custom OS I have my S5 G900H From the day it was launched, its 2 years now and its a good phone out in the market for those who wants more features like IR Blaster, and tons of sensors In Stock MM rom with Some Bloatware apps removed i get around 12hrs charge on high usage. Stock kernel is the reason for device to heat up and lag In my Custom OS Like " Wanted Rom v7.0 "-( Full S7Edge Port Rom ) From XDA Site, I get a good Battery life of around 22 hrs on medium usage and 14 hrs on high usage With Custom Kernel - " GreenApple Kernel v1.0 " This gives device a good battery backup and Lag free. With Note 7 roms device is consuming more juice so S7edge port roms are good for s5 g900h as per my experiance I recommend this device to the ones who wants more good features whic samsung removed in their newer devices Its Still a good device and even after 2 years samsung still gives monthly updates to it Now it has October 1 security patch on it. Its cost is also cheaper now in sites like flipkart its sold for around 15k only so its a affordable phone with some good specs. Good luck From Yash92Duster - XDA Senior Member

  • I am still using my S5 with stock KitKat because of the battery drain issues in Lollipop and Marshmallow. I have rooted my phone. But my concern is that even some small games like Riptide GP2 are lagging badly. Any way to resolve the lag in games? I think Mali T628-MP6 is really underpowered than Adreno 330 in Snapdragon 801 version S5

  • U can use data services of jio only on snapdragon and mediatek 3g devices....but sadly s5 comes with exynos

  • Grey scale will active from developer option under simulate colour space then monochromy

  • I guess it will work but 4G won't, you can use upto 3G..so you can't use the services.

  • Hi, There is any possibility of using JIO 4G sim in our Samsung S5 SM-900H model.

  • J7: 4g, slightly better processor, slightly better battery backup, big screen 5.5 inch S5: better camera, all the sensors like gyro, step, magnetic, compass etc., notification light, compact design with 5 inch

  • J7 and s5 which can I buy?please suggest me?

  • Is there any extra lense for this s5 To improve my camera capacity

  • To EVERYONE: I got the September security patch and installed it yesterday. The update is 21MB. In charging my phone today for the first time on a empty battery, I was shocked to see the battery reach 84% after 1 hour of charge. Prior to this update 1 hour of charge would replenish the battery by 71%. Has this happened to anybody else? I'm wondering if it's an improvement in the update or my battery is acting up and going bonkers (smile).

  • To KILLERKISHORE713: Standby time is better. Usage times is only better if you activate DOZE MODE for all apps and processes as well as the BATTERY OPTIMISATION feature. Both of these settings can be found in the built-in battery menu.

  • The camera quality is the same if not better and the camera opens faster too. There are cases where it opens in less than a second...sometimes.

  • To STEEVAN: The problem may very well be your memory card. Take out the memory card and see if the gallery opens faster.

  • Hello users Im using my s5 from the day of launch now after sammy released MM for this beast its performance is better than lollipop or KK for me I used stock rom and it lacks so many new features like themestore and UI as s7edge SO i have ported a s7edge rom for our s5 now it has all new features like themes, new Systemui , settings, game launcher and game tools, and the ram management is better also i get 4 Hours of SOT(Screen on Time) this is the best mobile for a person like me till now as it as very important feature like IR Blaster, airview&gesture also Ip67 Front camera is ok for video chatting Sent from Custom ROM: Wanted Rom v6.2 -(XDA) :-)

  • Can anybody tell me if the 250 MB update is something useful or just a security patch? Cause I downgraded to lollipop and was wondering if I should go back on marshmallow if the update makes it any better.

  • Do it bro It fixes the bug

  • I received an 250mb update today on my S5.does any one know what kind of change this update brings??

  • Does the battery life improves while using or it improves only in stand by time ?? And also does the notification panel changes as in galaxy S6 and s7? Plz give me detailed information ..plz jamaican

  • Hi jamaican after updating to 6.0 do u feel any changes in camera quality? Many were complaining about the camera quality is poor after the update..

  • yes, of course.

  • To STEEVAN: Do you have a memory card in your S5?

  • To KILLERKISHORE713: I too have S5 octa-core. Expect more overall speed, greater smoothness, loudspeaker seems louder. You will be prompted to give apps permission at least upon first run. Some apps you will have to give permission on several occasions. If you register your fingerprint you will be required to manually enter your password upon restarting the S5. It's a Marshmallow thing. RAM management is said to better but for me it's a hit and miss. Sometimes RAM seems to be managed perfectly other times it doesn't seem that way. It seems like the management part goes to sleep at times. The upgrade is worth it. Just remember to CLEAR SYSTEM CAHCE and do a FACTORY RESET after upgrading for best possible performance.

  • Even after the factory data reset the gallery is sluggish in loading. I think the search icon in gallery is taking more time than images in loading. How to remove calendar events in gallery search?.

  • Hi original jamaincan..i hav s5 octa..im in lollipop.if i upgrade it to 6.0 wat r all the changes i could see in my phone..plz hlp

  • To STEEVAN: The same thing happened to me after I upgraded. I decided to CLEAR SYSTEM CACHE then I did a FACTORY RESET after. Now mine is lightening fast. The fastest I have ever seen my S5. Not even KitKat nor Lollipop was so fast.

  • Somebody please help me. The gallery app became very sluggish after marshmallow. It is taking minimum 2 to 3 seconds to respond for the touches after launching the gallery.

  • I cant switch to 3g netwrk...only 2g is working..wat to do?

  • No,actually after updating your Phone will become much much more smoother, battery will long laster (thanks to Marshmallow Doze mode and otger optimisation), Also in Marshmallow camera seems to focus faster. So please do Update (must update) also it will make your phone more secure. *But Do remember to factory reset your phone after updating* (You know how to do factory reset , right??)

  • any one hlp pls..if i uptade to marshmallow does any problem occurs?? will the camera performance and battery life goes down? any one who had experienced with marashmallow in S5 octa core plz hlp

  • Never Bro, Reason 1 This phone was launched with Android Kitkat and got two major update (Lollipop and Marshmallow) so no more updates as no phone in Android got more than two major update (Not even Google Nexus). Reason 2: Phone launched with two variant Snapdragon(s801 soc) and Exynos Soc. Unfortunately OpenGL ES 3.1(GPU feature) is required for Android Nougat, Since only Exynos SOC (Octa core variant) only support this but not Snapdragon variant s801 SOC (Not samsung fault here, this type Qualcomm screwed with us, even Sony has to drop support for Z3 series even after release beta version of Nougat ).

  • its official and its my new mobile bought 3days before..if i go to software updates it dowloads the latest version 6.0 but i need lollipop 5 ..wat i need to do?? plz hlp

  • hy killerkishore713 are you running official kitkat or custom rom? if official then you don't need to worry about anything just update your phone, but remember dont use unofficial roms because they drain lot of your battery.

  • I have my S5 for ONE YEAR and TEN MONTHS and the battery has never failed me. I'm using Marshmallow and while the battery life was mediocre at first (without power saving turned on) it's now much better. From what I gather, Marshmallow studies your usage habits and executes the power as best as possible based on your usage habits. I can easily get 20 hours or more of fairly heavy daily use. Yesterday after 13-14 hours I still had more than 50% of battery life left. I have no need to work with my charger to work. Maybe I can give you a few battery saving tips. Turn off automatic updates from the Playstore. Turn of all the motion gestures and sensors. Turn off Wi-Fi, Data, Bluetooth and any other radio you aren't using like NFC etc. Disable things like My Magazine/Flipboard, S-Voice and other stuff if you don't use. By the way, disabling S-Voice will give you faster response when using the Home button. In Wi-Fi mode go to advance settings and disable Wi-Fi always on when sleeping. Set it to never. Finally set your screen brightness to the absolute minimum which is comfortable to your eye. There are more power saving tips but I shared the major ones with you. Experiment and see if you can find more. In the nearly two years I have had my S5, it has never hung, crashed nor freeze. It stalled one or two times but I never had to do a battery pull in order to use back the phone. My S5 has been flawless and still going strong. Please give me a feedback and let me know the outcome after trying my tips. In regards to the phone you are planning on getting 'galnot 7'...I have never heard of it. I will research it though. Take care my friend.

  • Hi All, i have ordered the S5 in India as intially the price was Rs.51,000 when it was launched, now it is currently sold for Rs.13,999 (~ $208). I needed a compact phone with AMOLED screen and a good camera so it fits the bill perfectly and that too at this cost. So which OS is better for the S5, kitkat 4.4.2 or Lollipop 5.0 or Marshmallow 6.0.1 ?

  • After 2 days, S5 with MM getting worse for the battery. I've to charge 3-4 times a day. From 100% only about 3-4 hours to 20-30%, draining the battery, was thingking about reformating. After days 6, i got update apps from google play store, suddenly everything getting better. For standby still gorgeous but if i've to use it even with daily use still acceptable even not sattisfied. Maybe problem with 3G coverage or maybe doze in MM is good? I just charge twice a day. Like now still 56% after 10 hours 19 mins. In lollipop sometimes i got hang after i updated apps from play store which i've to take the battery out, after MM everything just back to normal. Never get hang after update apps from play store. Camera is everything normal. Even the selective focus is working normally. I'm thinking to trade in with galnot 7 which 4G supporting, better camera, bigger memory, bigger internal memory, bigger battery 3.500 mAh.

  • Hi bro's. After Marshmallow update my phone cannot download files and apps from Googleplay. Advice please?

  • yeah, do a factory reset by going into setting-> backup and rest-> factory data reset. Your phone will not slow & hang then (MM made s5 much faster actually)

  • Yes we all are facing the same prob Let's hope samsung will fix it soon

  • I had an"insert sim card" error on my phone, sometimes almost everyday so I took the phone in to local Samsung Repair Centre. Apparently quite a common fault on S5. They had the phone for 1 day and repaired it under the ADH claim as a water damage claim. It hasn't been near water but as ADH Warrantee gives me either 2 water damage or 2 cracked screen repairs I allowed them you use 1 claim. They replaced almost everything in the phone- motherboard, both cameras, charging port and cover; Co axial cable and some other things. All free of charge. Phone is working fine now and feels like new. 2 weeks since repair and the sim card error hasn't reappeared. Phone is 2 years old in Dec 2016.

  • My s5 after 6.1 battery is draining too much Soo please any expert have any solution

  • I just started using Marshmallow on my S5...it's not even a day yet but I will share my preliminary findings so far. The Marshmallow operating system is really fast ONLY if you do a CLEAR CACHE and FULL WIPE DATA FACTORY RESET otherwise it may perform slower than a snail. Battery life is BETTER. At first it seemed to be worse but I got to understand that the smartphone was studying my usage habits...it states it when you open the battery app. Battery life definitely got better in no time. I haven't even gotten access to the Doze feature as yet due to Marshmallow studying my usage pattern and the battery life is already better. I normally use POWER SAVING with KiKat and Lollipop but I'm not doing so with Marshmallow as I want to test out the biggest claim that graced Marshmallow, better battery life. There also seems to be some new features like continuos low energy consumption bluetooth scanning for nearby devices for this and that...which can be disabled. I have left that feature on for the time being. Most importantly this is the smoothest I have ever seen the S5. It's smoother than butter now but there seems to be a bug as the system audible notifications are low in volume which also goes for the shutter sound in the camera...I can live with that. Regular notifications like Whatsapp, sms etc. are very loud, probably louder than before. Calling volume seems to be louder than before as well...I was on a whatsapp call earlier on loudspeaker and even though the volume was turned down to less than half it was still loud. There is a lot to like based on my preliminary findings. WHAT I DON'T LIKE: If you have enabled fingerprint unlocking, after a restart you have to enter your unlock password. You will then get to use your fingerprint when the phone goes back into lock state. I don't see the logic behind that but maybe Samsung knows best. I liked the idea of having a vibrate effect once the fingerprint scanner recognise your finger. This feature was introduced in Lollipop. It was a nice feature because you could close your eyes and unlock your phone, or simple not have to look at your S5 screen to see if it got unlocked as once you felt the vibration after running your fingers over the scanner, that simply meant your phone was unlocked. Well, with Marshmallow whether or not your fingerprint is recognised there's a vibration...so it's back to KitKat days where you have to look at your S5 to see if it was unlocked. Apart from those two gripes which I can live with, Marshmallow so far seems to be greater than KitKat and Lollipop. I will give a full review in the near future...even though this may have seemed like a full review (smile).

  • To ORIGINAL-GHANAIAN: No problem my friend. I will give a thorough review as soon as I have used it enough. One thing I can tell you though, it has software traces of the S7 eg, the way the SAMSUNG name appears on the screen when the phone is starting up. Click 'the PLAY button for the video in this link to see what I'm talking about in regards to the similarity of the S5 now starting up like the S7. No startup music anymore but I can live with that.

  • TO : ORIGINAL-JAMAICAN lol....yeah, i'm cutting down on the games a bit (even though I haven't seen any games on Google play store stutter my galaxy s5 g900h to the brim) I knew you would get yours before me,so eagerly waiting on your review. lol...do take your time (whilst at it you can keep an eye on the lady called "battery improments" )

  • Anyone can tell me about wireless charging Model Number SM-G900H Samsung S5

  • I finally got the Marshmallow update July 17th at around 8 pm. The size is 867.38MB. I'm yet to install it. When I do I will give my feedback.

  • Today 15 th July , 2016 . I checked for updates on my s5 g900h and low and behold ! I finally got the Marshmallow os. Waited so long for this... I purchased this phone brand new in May 2015. Happy to finally get it 😁

  • To EVERYONE who upgraded to Marshmallow (Android 6.0) what is the total capacity size of the internal memory? I have the 16GB S5. When I got my S5 with KitKat the total capacity was 11.45GB. When I upgraded to Lollipop it got reduced to 10.33GB. Seeing that the OTA version of Marshmallow is smaller than Lollipop I'm wondering if the capacity is higher than 10.33GB. All responses are appreciated.

  • To ORIGINAL-GHANAIAN: My student who was inspired by my name, Yu play to much game.

  • To LAINEDEER: I heard that the phone doesn't automatically reset like it did with Lollipop. Did you manually do a factory reset or a hard factory rest?

  • After updating and formatting, my phone start lagging after couple of weeks now i dont understand how to fix it. The update have no much merits its only for a name. My phone was not lagging while typing or playing games but now sometimes it too laggy.

  • The update is ridiculous. There are no pros to this update on my phone. My phone battery drains after a few hours since it updated. It lags worse than my old laptop even when doing simple things like typing a short word into a text. Some apps were added that I don't need, others I had uninstalled months ago were suddenly reinstalled and running, and the widgets changed and screwed up my screen layouts.

  • Just a thought ; I'm really sure this 6.0 marshmallow update will be the s5's last,I was wondering has any one with the 6.0 update tried installing the Galaxy s6 & s7 game launcher apk ? I heard it allows you to reduce the screen resolution of your device to 720p when gaming.

  • How to upgrade g900h to mm here i hsve 6.0 version yet

  • Thanks hrishibaba for all the info you provided. Now I think option 4 & 5 are best for me. Once again thanks a lots for the detailed info. I really appreciate it. Good luck dude.

  • Helloo Anyone have a idea how to bring old features like eye scrolling back to marshmallow update

  • Hie anyone have a idea how to get back features like eye scrolling in marshmallow

  • 4 days before my mobile was ubdated battery draining tooo fast while using wifi too much of heating lolipop so good mm is such a waste

  • Some users of galaxy S5 have found a small bug in this update!! The lock screen sometimes doesn't seem to turnoff when you get a msg i.e., until you press the power off button, the display doesn't turn of its own as it should be!! This can cause significant battery drain!! If you are facing the same problem, I have found a fix for this!! Just remove the peel remote widget from the lock screen or disable the peel remote app!! Now the lock screen will turnoff automatically after sometime a msg comes and it also saves a lot of battery too!!

  • Do a factory reset man...

  • Since i upgrade to marshmallow my s5 battery began to heat up easily and phone began to hanged... freeze.. which had not happend when i was in lollipop.... this is really crazy ...

  • great update marshmallow... now its runing great!!!!!!

  • I have updated my galaxy s5 via OTA update on 15th of June. After using the phone for 6 days, these are my pros and cons of this Marshmallow update!! Pros: 1) The battery has been improved compared to lollipop maybe because of Doze!! Previously My phone used to drain 4 to 5% of the battery over the night on standby with WiFi on continuously!! Now, it is draining only 2% over the night!! 2) Fingerprint scanner is a bit quicker compared to lollipop!! 3) The icons and new look is decent!! 4) The phone works very smoothly just like it used to work in lollipop and some of the apps like games were opening quickly compared to lollipop!! Cons: 1) No themes support like in S6 or S7's!! It would have been nice if themes are added!! Although we can get the theme store if we root the phone, I don't want to!! 2) I noticed the camera app is loading a bit slower (not much difference, but it is somewhat noticeable) compared to Lollipop!! Although the picture clarity is almost the same as before!! 3) Whenever I restart the device, It asks for the backup password and not fingerprint!! This is apparently a new feature of Marshmallow in Samsung devices!! So, we can't do much about it!! PS: I haven't factory reset the phone after the update like all are saying to do and my phone still works fine!! I just cleared the cache before and after the update thats all!! So, overall, this is a decent update with marshmallow features although nothing much has changed significantly!!

  • MM already entered in SMG900H on 14.06.2016. Go to setting-about device-software update.

  • MM already entered in SMG900H on 14.06.2016 Just go to setting_About Device_System Update.

  • Pls when is MM entering s5 g900h?

  • After updating and formatting, the phone works smooth but i dont understand that after restarting or powering it ON, fingerprint does not work and ask for the backup password as it shows a message that unable to use fingerprint. And after giving the backup password it works all fine.

  • My s5 is a model sm-g900h and have not yet received update marsmallow.i live in mauritius.what to do ??

  • After updating to marshmallow I'm using Nova launcher the phone is now performing very smoothly. Animations while opening apps is very smooth with nova launcher.

  • I have updated my galaxy s5 via OTA update on 14th of June. After using the phone for 3 days, these are my pros and cons of this Marshmallow update!! • I also have MM in s5 INS but none of your problem like Screen flickering, Camera focus, MX crashing (Assuming you have latest version) exist. Also MM for exynos available from 23 may and non of your above problem has been mentioned in xda and other forum. Now Reason.... It seems like update (since you did from kies with full ROM image , dirty flash would be appropriate word) has messed up with driver and blobs of your device hardware (Particularly GPU driver , mediaserver, camera blobs) Now I'm not that positive about again Factory reset would solve the problem but do it again for a try (10% chances that it'll solve the all above problem). Solution. 1) Do a factory reset for a try (I know you did it but do it again) 10% chance for problem to be solved. 2) If your phone is in warranty then go to service center & tell them about screen flickering and camera focusing problem & others. First two problem is sufficient for them to repair your phone (By re flashing the whole ROM or changing the motherboard or Replacing the phone with other unit). 3) If phone is in warranty but you do not want to go service centre for whatever reason, Download the odin(Samsung flashing tool leaked in internet) and download the G900H INS version Rom from sammobile firmware section. Assuming you know all the risk of flashing through odin, flash and factory reset it (80% chance it'll solve your problem). 4) Not in warranty, then call(post in their facebook, twitter page) the Samsung care and tell them after official MM update your phone is experiencing screen flickering and camera problem & tell them to repair it free of cost as it is not you doing. 5) If they rejected your request (out of warranty period) even after calling their senior management or emails, you have one option left. Use odin to flash official firmware OR Root your phone, flash TWRP , flash custom rom for G900H model (from xda like Skyrocket ROM , AJ's ROM). DO above steps assuming u reformatted(factory reset) your phone (for second time). About battery problem :- For me battery life has been improved a lot after MM update specially ideal time (Screen off time) & Approx. 10% improvement in Screen On time. Normally after new update you have to give like three or four full cycle of charging -discharging. MM has Doze and app standby features that will surely increase battery life. But they need approx a week to learn your usage pattern to do optimisation, so wait. Another possibility of poor battery life is some rough app is consuming you battery by keeps awake your phone, do update to your all apps to latest version. Or,maybe ur battery old (like 1-2 year old & need new battery replacement (For replacing battery go to service center & use official one as in online market 99.9% battery is fake samsung even if they have samsung logo and looks like original). About App compatibility App compatability goes upward not downward in Android. Total no of Marshmallow supported app= Total no of lollipop compatible app + apps exclusive for Android 6.0 or above (Upcoming android N). Yeah if you have android gingerbread or froyo then app compatibility is a problem as lots of app (and google play service ) support Android 4.1 and above

  • Hoooo....finally its arrived mm in g900h

  • Yes after upgrading to Marshmallow I did factory reset & wiped cache. If you don't believe me then it's your choice buddy. I just gave friendly advice and you are not bound to listen to me. Have fun.

  • Have u done a factory reset?? If not.....do it and then post ur comment.......dont spread rumours

  • I have updated my Samsung Galaxy S5(INS) to Marshmallow via Kies and I downloaded 1384Mb to download the Marshmallow update. My friendly advice to those who haven't updated to Marshmallow yet.... Please don't update. Pros: Device is performing faster than before, Finger print is working faster, New icons. Cons : Poor battery backup, lots of bugs like screen flickering, Camera focus is not working properly, very less apps supporting marshmallow, call recorder not working, MX player crashing etc.

  • Finally got the Marshmallow update via OTA on 14.06.2016 ( Mumbai ). Installed on my S5 & now phone looks like new. Thanks samsung.

  • Finally Got the update in Mumbai on 14.06.2016. Yippie.

  • I did factory rest and now my phone feels snappýyyy..thank u

  • Do a factory reset on ur phone.

  • Guys I hav update to 6.0.1 through OTA..But now my mobile seems laggy n hangs a bit..Wat shall I Do?plz suggest

  • Dude i updated before u did😂😂

  • 14th June 2016

  • Yes it's 815mb...I'm downloading now. ..dear s5 ins user's pls check....

  • guys good news. ota is available for ins variant of s5 g900h . please check your update setting under setting-> about...

  • I'm waiting for the OTA update...G900H INS version..when will the OTA update start??

  • yes resetting the phone helped immensely, initially the phone lagged a lot; then i did factory reset and now its back to normal..

  • Connect it to kies

  • How i can check the version of my sm g900h

  • it doesn't get downloaded via kies it downloads upto preparing s5 for update then the screen just freezes up whats the issue?

  • Maybe newer kies version doesn't delete data but it is recommended to do factory reset after updating through kies.

  • Own Samsung galaxy s5 SMG900H INS version ( From Mumbai ). Not got OTA update yet but yes when connected to smart kies it showing Marshmallow update for download.

  • yes, My phone is INS G900h; yesterday i downloaded kies (35MB) and then connected my phone. It downloaded the 6.0.1 update and installed. No data was erased as misquoted previously by someone i.e. while updating from KIES there was no format of phone. Though My phone was lagging initially and then I did a hard reset. Now working smoothly again.

  • U sure about 2-3days??

  • Thnx for ur suport....w8 for the update

  • is the update available via kies today?? is ur phone INS VERSION

  • i have s5 smg900h INS VERSION. is the marshmallow update available via keys?? did anyone get it through this method ..let me know pls

  • Update available via Samsung kies

  • I'm galaxy s5 INS user from kerala, when will get marshmallow updation via O.T.A pls....

  • Kies is desktop software (you can download it by searching kies v3 in google). But i do not recommend it to you as OTA will be available within 2-3 days (Today is Holiday, Generally company do not push ota's in weekends and holidays) so maybe tomorrow or day after tommorowo it will be available through ota.

  • It means Factory reset(It'll delete all your data installed app media.Do backup of internal data and remove the sd card before formatting. If you do update through kies then it'll Automatically delete all your data.

  • I don't know how to update with kies ....plz one help me

  • Thanks alot hrishi..But can U pls tell me What does clean install means,so that I can Do it after updating.

  • Clean install or factory reset after update as it is a big update and their will be high probability that it ll create some problem after uodate like poor battery life or hanging or overheat

  • If you update through kies it will download whole rom image not OTA that's why 1.3GB size & it also wipe data. And the one you will get through ota is only partial rom image which will not erase data. So choice is yours. But I'll recommend you to clean install or factory reset

  • Updated my Samsung galaxy S5 Exynos octa core SM-G900H INS version of India to Marshmallow 6.0.1 via Samsung smart switch because OTA update not available yet.

  • I connected my S5 INS to Kies and it showed an uodate size of 1384 mb..bt INU mode uodate was oly 815 mb I believ..shall I update through Kies Or shall I wait for the OTA update??guys plz suggest me something

  • Dude if your tired of waiting for MM on SM-G900H go to sammobile and download the rom for the phone model there, then use odin to manually install MM on S5. Google the steps its even on youtube if you follow it you cant go wrong and it works 100%.

  • Connect your phone to pc kies You will get definitely update

  • Which site??

  • Hello guy's here online just one hour before INS update uploaded does any one get it?

  • Samsung go to hell....where is the update. ....to g900h Iam gonig to any nexus phones

  • i have not recieved mm update for my 900h model. samsung is neglecting indian users. next time no samsung.

  • I have purchased almost 10 devices of samsung. Now i fed up with this galaxy s5 ins update, i switched to apple. I am very much satisfied. None of the galaxy device proved woth it money for me. No samsung from now.

  • I have SGS5 (G900H) .....INS version. I am also waiting for Marshmallow update. I am from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I heard that Marshmallow update is available for INU models only. Those who don't the difference between INU & INS, then let me clear it out for those. INU Model- Made outside India but marketed in India. INS Model- Made in India & marketed in India only. So, according to priority the INU models will get update earlier than INS models. Samsung is the biggest smartphone supplier in India but when it comes to update their models, India comes last. Samsung always releases its updates to Korea first and after providing updates to all over the World, they release updates for India & that too in INU...INS.....blah....bla.....blah........& if the same continues then Samsung will gradually loose it's market in India which is one of the biggest market for Samsung. Samsung must take a note on this before releasing new smartphones because customers are already migrating to other brands which are cheaper and also providing regular updates to the customers who valued them. SGS5 will get update when Nexus devices will get Android 7(N).......So my dear SGS5 users please hang on, because that's all we can do but I am migrating to other. Ha....Ha....Ha...

  • Samsung galaxy s5 smg900h ins modal update when

  • Do this phone really got 6.0 Marshmallow Update?????

  • Where is the mm in g900h. .....samsung. ...

  • To ORIGINAL-GHANAIAN: It's been a while since I have heard from you. I trust you have been reading my posts. I have heard it time and time again about how Jellybean 4.3 messed up the Galaxy S3. Based on the reviews I have seen about the S5 with Marshmallow, everything or at least most things seems to be better. I really like Lollipop with it's material design. I hope I will be just as impressed with Marshmallow. I'm looking forward to your Marshmallow review, as well as anyone else here who updates to Marshmallow and willing to give us their feedback.

  • thanks

  • Iam not getting the update samsung what's going samsung. ......

  • While charging the phone, my s5 heats too much Does any one facing heating problem while charging?

  • When is the MM update for s5 G900H(INS)in India???

  • To : Original-Jamaican I see some promisingly positive reviews about the marshmallow update, I really hope this is not going to turn up like the 'galaxy s3' 4.3 update (that nearly ruined the performance and battery usage of the phone). But my advice and question, first my advice if you want a smooth fluid experience after any update PLEASE DO A FACTORY RESET (from experience )an example my G900h did not have the USB 3.0 enabled in the options when you plug it into a pc UNTIL I 'UNKNOWINGLY' DID A FACTORY RESET now I can copy those movie files when I'm going out. And my most important question to : Jt K and Samah Sir how is the battery usage,(I get 4hr plus some minutes anytime,on lollipop ) and the performance status, especially when one is scrolling through the 'recent apps' stacks,my apologies for such long post...lol I will post a review here in case I mine first in Ghana Original-Jamaican.

  • To SAMEH SIR: Thank you for replying. You seemed to have read my mind, I was wondering how many RAM would have been free on average. In fact I was planning on asking you that question. 0.9MB is excellent and 1.4GB after opening 10 apps is very good. I really appreciate your input.

  • yes the phone vibrate

  • from egypt but i installed the skz firmware from www.sammobile.com and there is no any problems i faced it after 2 week

  • "skz" firmware via odin

  • thanks for your replay i will explain some point : 1- the ultra power saving already existing not removed 2- i also don't face any heat issue on the 3 firmware ( k , L, M) 3- the phone after clear ram it will be ( 0.9mb / 1.75 mb) and with app ( 1.1 gb/1.75 ) by any way it don't exceed 1.4 gb with more than 10 app is open 4- battery usage : screen time on average 6-7 hours , 50% brightness on wi-fi without playing , only browsing , chatting , play music , calls 5- fingerprint on android 5.0 = 70% , on android 6.0.1 = 95% really more sensitive

  • Nexus 6p is out of his budget....

  • Go. For nexus 6p i think its a nice phone.. And iam not getting mm in g900h what is this....samsung

  • bhai go for s5 because it's water proof or more advanced than g4

  • Go for s5 snapdragon version as it has 4g and therefore is more future proof than s5 octa core

  • what about s5?

  • Don't go for Moto g4 plus it's overheat. Go for Mi redmi note 3 for budģet under 15k or Oneplus x or other phone.

  • Hey guys i am vey much confused please suggest me should i buy S5 as it is 2 years old device. is it working good? available @16999 at flipkart. Please guide me or should i go for Moto g4 plus?

  • INU = Manufactured Outside and Marketed in India/ IMPORTED INS = Manufactured IN INDIA and marketed in India

  • I am from Kolkata and I am also waiting for MM update. I think now I have to wait for 1 week or so for OTA update.

  • What is the difference between INS and INU? I have INS which was bought through Flipkart. I m still waiting for MM for my INS device.

  • Thnx......waited for a long time

  • Just wait for a week..Ull get the update for INS..they're having the INU product,so they got the update first..we're next..I'm also waiting for the MM update

  • They r showing mm update iam not getting it...plz...help why

  • Same here, even if INU & INS are basically same there is now update till now.

  • Ultra Data saving mode is a gimmick. You can use Opera Max from play store, which is same as ultra data saving mode in latest galaxy phone (ultra data saving mode is powered by opera max so it's same whether you download it from play store or pre installed in newer galaxy phones.

  • Hate you Samsung, still not getting marshmallow g900h (ins) , from kolkata (India)

  • To JT K: Ok thank you.

  • They could have added ultra data saving mode and theme support but its not there after mm update......a little disappointment

  • new delhi(india)

  • Yes

  • #ashiq123 -we have got the update in india if it is not showing in your software update section u can download the firmware via sammobile and flash it through Odin.

  • Is that any change in -calling id Calling numbers or calling button

  • Still iam not getting mm in g900h. ...and iam from kerala....plz anyone help me...

  • To JT K: Is there still a vibration after the fingerprint is recognised. That was a nice feature that Lollipop introduced.

  • Your location? Of the update

  • Ultra power saving mode is present after mm update......further the fingerprint sensor lagged a bit in lollipop but after mm update the phone unlocks instantly( note: it also depends on how u register ur fingerprint i.e it should be registered from each and every angle of the finger)

  • To SIR: My S5 was great with KitKat and even better with Lollipop and I never faced and heating issue unless I was playing an intensive 3D game or using some intensive app. My phone is always on power saving maybe that's why I don't face heat like most of you. Nevertheless thanks for the info. First and foremost I like what you said about more free RAM, memory is crucial...I look forward to the extra RAM when I get the update. Secondly I like the idea of fast multi-tasking...which might be a result of the extra free RAM and thirdly it would be nice to really see fast camera capture as you know life's precious moments can pass you by in an instant. I never really had an issue with the fingerprint scanner though sometimes it would act up but overall it worked well enough....still nice to see you say " finger print awesome , very very fast ". I'm looking forward to that. I heard that the Ultra Power Saving Mode is now gone but that doesn't matter to me much as I never really used it. Maybe once, twice or thrice but that was it. Too much black and white started getting to me and I honestly don't see where the battery lasted much longer as the S5 is already great at minimal battery use. The S5 was the best smartphone in 2014 and it may very well be the best smartphone once again in 2016 with the Marshmallow update. I'm looking forward to it.

  • your location ?

  • Which state bro? I didn't get the update..so

  • After update to android 6.0.1 1- finger print awesome , very very fast 2- performance is great 3- no heating issue 4- fast multi tasking 5- new icons 6- more free ram 7- fast camera capture 8- fast installing app * now s5 is agreat phone

  • Yes Marshmallow 6.0.1 INU Firmware is original and you can download it from sammobile I just added S7 Apps like s7 camera, S7 theme store and a lot more You can find them in my Xda Thread

  • awesome, thanks

  • When's the MM update for S5 G900H (INS)?

  • To SMARTY: Thanks for this information. I checked 'About Device' in settings to see if I could find out whether my G900H was INS or INU but couldn't find it. I wasn't thinking of checking the box.

  • can you state where you guys have received the upgrade ? and your respective models?

  • See your mobile box and check the model No. G900HzbaINS for INS user OR G900HzbaINU for INU user

  • When will s5 G900H INS get 6.0 update

  • No marshmallow update on s5 g900h in india

  • hi im using samsung S5 SM G 900H..how to find whether this model is INU or INS??pls help

  • Changes seen after mm update(1 day usage)........ There is no drastic changes in battery life but it is now better than lollipop touchwiz is lot smoother....no glitches at all.....faster fingerprint recognition is huge plus......no heating issues at all.....phone restarts in much less time.....apps are installed and uninstalled in much much less time compared to lollipop.....so overall there is a drastic change in the performance of the phone......no cons seen yet.

  • To EVERYBODY who updated to the official Marshmallow update. What are the changes you have seen so far? State the pros and cons please.

  • To JT K: How about battery? That's the most important thing. Anything else you have noticed so far?

  • Go to settings....then click battery....select battery optimisation from top right corner menu and then select the apps which u want on doze mode

  • Hi everybody, G900H MM update received OTA. Awesome performance after update. Works much better than before, and UI is cleaner. Still exploring all the changes, but I did not see any reference to Doze mode in the settings. Any idea about that?

  • Thanks bro

  • Moto G4 dude. S5 is totally out of the game. No 4G.

  • Samsung galaxy s5 is a mediocre phone with a good camera. Phone lags a lot and hangs on many occasions. Chipsets is outdated and discrimination is obvious for India. ( no snapdragon ). Customer support is also horrible. No updates to later versions of android. Touch whiz has been a nightmare. I am not recommendin the phone based on 2 year of use

  • After using s5 sm-g900h for 15 months i can say that it's a nice phone with decent camera and hardware...the hardware has been outdated now so its better to look for some other phones instead of buying s5.. Snapdragon s5 is much better than exynos s5. My exynos s5 started to lag after 1 year..touchwiz sucks in s5..after S6 family and Note5 the touchwiz has improved a lot. I have s6 edge and s7 edge also..s5 is now given to my mom and my dad is using s6edge and i m using s7 edge..believe me the touchwiz in latest Samsung phones has been improved a lot.. So it's better to move on now. Anyway thank u. Cheers. Peace.

  • No.

  • To yashrajcooldude569: Something is wrong with either your phone or charger because my S5 G900H takes exactly 1 hour 55 minutes to charge from 0-100%. I use the USB 2.0 original charger that came with the phone.

  • Any news about marshmallow update for g900h??

  • hi my cellphone is SM-900H. how support 4G ( LTE )???? PLEASE HELP ME.

  • Bro i have sm g900h but i have not received any update of 6.0.

  • Hi My s5 G900h takes 2hrs to fully charge using 2.0 cable and 1hr 50min using 3.0 cable with 2amps samsung adapter. I am using WD 3.0 cable. It's better to use 2.0 or 3.0 cable only. The Wireless charging takes so much time it's not implemented properly in S5. Do a factory reset, clear cache, dalvik, data and then check if it still takes you 3hrs to fully charge.

  • I was so happy with Xiaomi Mi4i... Bought this one for 22000 & now getting only 16000 in just 3 months time

  • which one charge fast friend in samsung s5 wifi charging v3.0 data cable v2.0 data cable i am asking bcoz my s5 takes approx 3hour 30 minute to 15%-100% via v2.0 data cable is this problem in phone ? v3.0 datacable is of $15 does it worth it or not (value for money or not) and wireless charging kit is for aroud $20 but there is some issue i think in wireless charging it takes more time to charge plz guys sujjest me plz

  • Oppo f1

  • Hi friends I am bit confused from Samsung galaxy s5 and oppo f1 which one I should buy please help me

  • Please, could you give me link for CM13 for S5 octa core G900h?

  • Samsung is only money minded company their update policy is headache I bought s5 for 37500 and now its 16k now kitkat was good but battery problem lollipop is total shit mm is utter shit 1. I installed Cyanogenmod 13 custom rom in my s5 g900h, its fast and battery consumption is less it gives me more than 1 day 2. adoptable storage is available in cm13, now i adopted my 64gb sdcard with my internal 16gb now total 73gb available as internal storage 3. Small and heavy games are playable in ultra high settings without any lags and battery consumption for games is good than in stock lollipop rom Samsung will surely make us wait for another few months without giving us MM update, they suck at updates

  • what the hell like experiance i suffer from samsung service no 1800 266 8282 they says that i am sorry there is no information about marsmallow wtf samsung you are. you makes us fool and the other point is that i buy my s5 in $700 INR 42000 and now it is available in only $300 INR 18000 why samsung you do this thing i say why s7 now 48000 and after 1 year it will become approx 24000 i am sure thats why i dont buy s7

  • ok bro i will wait for it but you know, when samsung release the update.

  • hey bro 5.1 was not released to S5 G900H but they released 5.0.2 We will surely get the MM update for G900H but it would surely take time due to Samsung shitty Update Policies. samsung is playing with us by not releassing the update wantedly.

  • 5.1 lollipop was not relesed for samsung s5 s900h and i think marsmallow also not available for s5

  • samsung you cross the limit of waiting...

  • guys i think marsmallow is not available for this g900h model what the hell we are doing samsung makes us fool we are waiting for waiting only

  • waiting................................

  • waiting for marsmallow......

  • Marshmallow upto date

  • Guys I flashed the Cyanogenmod ROM to my Galaxy S5 G900H exynos variant and it works fantastic. Here's the link Its unofficial but still its working fine, a few little bugs but that doesn't matter You guys can give it a try if interested. Samsung will give us Marshmallow date - Unknown

  • As per many requests about screen on time, let me share a few details: ... Device: Galaxy S5 (900H) Used for: 14 months Status: Working perfectly (Good Fingerprint scanning after recent 210 MB update), Smooth as butter, Fast just like new Issue: Only issue is battery life. When I bought it 14 months ago it was on KitKat - gave me screen on time of about 5 hr. 30 min. When I updated to Lollipop (in May) it went down to approx 4 Hr. 30 min. Now after 14 months of usage, I get screen on time of about 3 Hr. 45 min with mixed usage of Web browsing+Music+Few calls (I guess battery wear also plays a part - I am going to replace the battery soon) .... Whats ur experience?

  • Marshmallow will be the last upgrade

  • by the way whats your screen on time

  • 1.30 ram is available out of 1.75 and on lollipop battery drain so fast but some good experiance no lag and fingerprint sensor work 90% well than in kitkat and phone becomes smooth like butter only issue i suffer is battery or nothing everything is cool and good i think if battery is not your issue then upgrade your phone bcoz i was not able good to play game like gangster vegas, wwe importal , nova 3 and some more game but in lollipop i can play all apps run like a charm and security level is also up

  • lollipop. USB 3.0 cable transfers the files much faster from PC but only marginally faster in charging the phone.

  • i am using v2.0 datacable with original adapter and on lollipop android os but my screen on time is only 4hour. by the way which os is on your phone lollipop or kitkat?

  • I'm not using any custom rom or kernel. Just the original rom. I've turned off unnecessary bloatwares, vibration on keypress etc. and bluetooth, gps are also turned off if i'm not using them. But my wifi is on for 10hrs a day. Still I get full day battery. There is also an app optimisation feature in battery settings. I've enabled it for all the apps except whatsapp otherwise I won't get notifications. I use the charger and data cable provided in the box. If your battery is taking that much time to charge then get a new one coz mine charges from 0-100 in 100 min.

  • which type of datacable you use how much time take to full charge and how you expand your battery for whole day plz give some tips because my phone takes 3 hour to 7%to 100% and my battery backup is only 5hour screen on time which os u use help us plz

  • Using it for past 6 months and I've to say it's an awesome phone. Camera, battery, display everything is just too good. Add to that features like IR blaster, IP67 certification, SD card slot etc.. Only thing I don't like is the flap on USB port, but that's okay coz the battery life is very good and I only have to charge it at most once a day. So glad I didn't buy mi4 or other chinese crap coz they s**k monkey's balls

  • Today Samsung rolls out Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S5 in South Korea. G900L, G900K, G900S started receiving the marshmallow updates. Within few months the other variants will start to receive the update

  • To ALEX HALES: I have no clue but I just got a 300+ MB update after seven months since my last update, Lollipop.

  • how many days left for marshmallow update for s5 octa core

  • Well I heard that the S4 doesn't run all 8 CPUs at the same time while the S5 does. Either way it doesn't matter. There are a total of 8 CPUs in the S5 so naturally it should be regarded as octa-core.

  • But they will not work all at the same time .

  • 2 quad-cores (4 CPU's each) = octa-cores (8 CPU's). 1x4 (quad-core) + 1x4 (quad-core) = 8 (octa-cores) And yes, if you put 2 octa-cores in your PC you would be putting in 16 cores. - Dual Core: 2 cores - Quad Core: 4 cores - Hexa Core: 6 cores - Octo Core: 8 cores - Deca Core: 10 cores

  • I don t understand the octa core thing , quad core cpu + quad core cpu is not octa core . If i put 2 cpu in my pc with octa core i have 16 core ?? The phone has 2 quad core cpu , not octa core cpu

  • After contcontinues heavy using playing games and surfing net i getting down my battery 100 to 20 in just 2 and half hour...also phone getting so hot

  • Select wcdma then you got 3g connection

  • Galaxy S5(SM-G900H), Android 5.0, Baseband version: G900HXXU1BOAD, Build Number: LRX21T.G900HXXU1BOAD. Not supporting 3G Network though I'm in full 3G Area. System info also showing Network GSM only(Android Asistant System info). Is this possible to support 3G/WCDMA?

  • Maybe is my variant of Samsung Rom 5.0 or I am a heavy user (all social media, youtube videos, no games, gps off) and it is 1 year and a half. Only 4/5 hours of screen, and 8/10 hours of common use. Maybe I have to reinstall all my apps but I don't thing any special program, only I use a smart cover with NFC. And maybe my 3g reception is poor. I´m happy for yours.

  • To LEOTIGER: I have a S5-G900H running Lollipop 5.0. This morning right before I charged my S5-G900H the screen time was more than 5 hours (but less than 6) and the duration since the last charge was 21 hours and 23 minutes. I have owned my S5 for one year and three months. Can you imagine if my battery was brand new? I would surely get more on screen time and standby if that was the case. Not bad in my view.

  • Not heat of gamming. And you could use it for a year.

  • Hi, the battery of S5 (SM-G900H) with Android 5.0 is not as good as I spected. About 4 hours of screen and in stand by Mode doesn't last more than 6 hours. My recommendation is to buy other version of S5 (not octacore) or Samsung A5.

  • Hello I want to buy samsung s5 this, but there are some things I want to ask 1. Is this s5 samsung batteries including durable? When playing games can be how long? 2. • Android marshmallow update when

  • well my s5 on a fully charged battery last me about 6-7 hours on 3g alone under power saving mode... In a mix use it lasts about 15-16hrs

  • Its been about 2 weeks now . Apart from few sec lags in touchwiz everythng is perfectly fine. The best feature in my view is the selective Focus for DSLR quality background blurring( had to reset my phone for the feature to work properly ).The pics are awesome ,great camera. I am not a fan of its build quality. Pendrive connectivity is fluid . Battery is average ,last a day with 3g data activated. Speaker is OK to say . Call quality is great. overall its a great phone and i am happy with it and its outstndng camera no one can beat it.

  • How is Ur battery backup After 100% charged and then use on chat and surf fb.. Continuing. .. Plzzz tell me how much the battery backup of s5 900h...?

  • To SUBPIXEL1989: The difference with the 'H' and the other variants is that the 'H' has eight CPU cores while the others have four cores but there's a tradeoff as the 'H' doesn't have LTE 4G while the others do. The reason it doesn't have LTE is because the Exynos chipset Samsung used in the 'H' isn't compatible with LTE...which Samsung was able to sort out with the S6. The other variants use snapdragon which supports LTE. I have the G900H and I couldn't care less about it not having LTE as my country doesn't have that in place. There's a never ending debate about the G900H and the G900F. All I know is that the 'H' works perfectly for me.

  • Hi all, plz tell me which is the difference between S5 (octa core) and original S5? Plz i need your help because i will soon purchase a S5 (octa core) but i'm very confuses. Plzzz Reply

  • yes

  • does this support On-The-G0 (OTG)?

  • No

  • NO

  • No

  • I'm forced to believe that prior to any unveilingredients of another flagship samsung or these OEMs send out performance-restricting and batterylower calibrated update to it's previous flagships, for the reasons that when you update it months later and see that the performance and battery status are worsening ( compared to when it came out fresh with the previous os an example is the perfect galaxy s3 i9300) you will be forced psychologically to to buy the newer flagship.

  • Yes, after lolipop the battery drains very fast.. For sure its not normal. After updating today 214mb update, The battery draining has become more Worse than before. Yes, performance has improved, which is visible in gaming, now ZERO lag!

  • Samsung Galaxy S5’s turn now to get Google’s latest security patch for a critical vulnerability recently detected in Android OS. Samsung is rolling out an OTA software update for Galaxy S5 (and some other Android phones) which contains this security bug-fix. The update is just over 214 MB in size for unlocked International variant of Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) here in India. The firmware carries the build-date as December 8 but the Android version still remains 5.0 Lollipop. As for the change-log, here are the official “Update details” ALERT: Patch for critical security vulnerability Battery life has been optimized Overall device performance has been improved The security of your device has been improved After updating you will not be able to downgrade to the old software because of updates to the security policy A new line under “About device” menu can be seen after the update which shows the build date of “Android security patch level”. Thus this update mainly patches the security bugs in Android which can be exploited by hackers to remotely run malicious codes and take over the device without any user interaction. Being a critical System OS update, all Android phones are expected to get this security patch sooner or later.

  • android 6.0 update for samsung galaxy s 5 (octa core) will get in april 2016..

  • @Original-Jamaican, Nice to know, from your elaborated experience I think I will settle my quarrel with this 5.0 firmware update. I hope this marshmallow update is for real, and not just a vapor ware. Can you tell me the late the 'kernel version date' and 'SE for Android' dates I want to see if I'm on the latest, mine are : Monday April 20 2015 for the kernel version date and Friday 17 July 2015 for the SE for Android date.Thank much.

  • To Original-Ghanaian: It's nice to know that I inspire you to use a similar nickname. Big up. My nickname dates back to the 90s. I got my S5 brand new out of the box running KitKat October last year. As a new phone the battery lasted long. On average it would take 10 minutes before the battery would lose 1% while browsing the internet on Wi-Fi. In August that time decreased to around 3 minutes. I upgraded to Lollipop shortly after and on average the time before losing a percent has increased between 5-6 minutes. That's how I know Lollipop gives gives good battery life.

  • Bought my Galaxy s5 GM 900h official lollipop on this 27 of November, so far it has been the best of device I've had coming from an Exynos 4412 (galaxy s3) I think the octa-core variant is quiet powerful despite what others are saying about it's quad core variant.I believe the battery life was better in kit kat (even though my was originally in 5.0) because I can see long battery life in 5.0 so this convinces me that kit kat was a bit better.Regarding performance and battery life I always keep my in 'Power saving' mode and get speedy performance, I will recommend to uncheck the 'screen output' in the power saving mode to get be able to get a normal brightness production instead of the low screen brightness in give you. This machine whiles in power saving mode not only gives you speedy performance but also a better battery (let's hope marshmallow can reduce the total power consumption of the chipset to be able to UNLEASH THE 5422.Whats up Original-Jamacian. :-)

  • Hello everyone! Please help, why is it everytime i tried to play music via speaker I am hearing nothing but music continues to play. Even the jack of my speaker isn't damaged because I'm using it on my pc. But when I'm using earphone, i can hear the music that I'm playing.

  • I am from Bangladesh. Sm g9ooh is a good phone but Samsung is not updating its android version. The phone is heating enough and lagging. 5.1 is awesome than 5 version of lollipop.

  • phone heats up to 40degrees while playing games n watching movies n using wifi due to phone bloatware apps only solution is to root your mobile and uninstall crap apps *** rooting the device may break your warranty***

  • my SM-G900H is very good mobile but it doesn't have memory card recovery system. my phone version is 4.4.2 what is it reason? Please reply me??????

  • I have same problem..

  • I am from India and I am using Samsung Galaxy S5 Octa-core (SM-G900H). Its pretty good phone, very good hardware performance. I have 2 issues with the phone. (1) Heating problem while sending/receiving big files over wifi/shareit. (2) Although I accept that Lollipop 5.0 is one of the best stable OS on Galaxy S5 considering other smartphones running on Lollipop 5.0, but the main problem of Lollipop 5.0 is that I can't move app to SD Card. All apps by default installed on phone memory which certainly decreases the phone memory because some apps have huge data. I just want to know whether Lollipop 5.1 also have same issue ? When Android Marshmallow is coming to S5 in India ? Please answer if you have the answer. Thanks. Samsung Galaxy S5 : PROS: 1) Awesome Camera 2) Super Battery....almost 9 hours of Internet browsing, watching videos online. Only 1% waste over night. 3) Stunning display colors. 4) Water & Dust Proof 5) Matt finish back cover is excellent for grip on hands unlike S6, which slips. 6) Finger print scanner & lots of other sensors like pulse rate, stress sensor etc. CONS: 1) Over-heating while sending / receiving files big files over wifi. 2) Can't move apps to SD Card. ------X------------------X-----------------------------X----------------------X----------------------------X------

  • Gamers are going to love this feedback. My S5 is running Lollipop 5.0. It's on power saving mode with with background data restriction enabled. I downloaded the brand new Dead Effect 2 which was released a few days ago, from the Playstore. In reading the comments from others who dowloaded it from the Playstore reviews, a few persons said it crashed or wouldn't load etc. especially if the maxed out the graphics/3D settings due to hardware limitation on their phones...People with HTC flagships like the One M8 etc. complained a lot!!! All of the CPU-cores on my S5 are running at 500MHZ which means it's running at less than half the original clockspeed due to the power saving mode with the 'limit CPU speed' enabled. I was suprised at how smooth the game runs even with all the graphics settings maxed out. They are all on Extreme etc. I have experienced no lagging, no hang-ups, no crashing and no funny behaviour whatsoever which speaks volumes about the power of the Galaxy S5. A friend of mine who is running Dead Effect 2 on iOS has to set his graphics/3D settings to medium otherwise the game will crash. The S5 is a POWERHOUSE even if it doesn't seem that way at times.

  • Some people talking about the S5 being cheap now. It's still quite an expensive phone. Most of the prices on E-Bay are US$400 or higher and most of the prices on Amazon are close to US$400 for a phone which isn't too far from being 2 years old that's NOT cheap as most new flagship phones are in the region of US$500-US$700.

  • Yes lollipop is now on this phone....it is an amazing phone and i love it. But beware of the modle that you get and where you buy it from. Some models are from China or Mexico and are crap. I am very happy with mine and mine in the octo core H model. Hope this helps!

  • is lollipop update supported for octa core galaxy s5

  • Go for octacore if you play a lot of demanding games , else the octa core version is also very good

  • now i like to buy s5 octacore CAN I sugession plzzz...

  • now i like to buy s5 octacore can i

  • To BALL0: I have a G900H and it's basically perfect. The most battery percentage I will lose overnight is probably 2%. Most times just 1%. I have been using it for 1 year and 5 days to date. Maybe you should change your battery. Get a new one.

  • I have that Galaxy s5 g900p(sprint) wich has exynos like g900H. I have disabled every thing I can and have powersaving on. still the battery goes from 100% til 46% over night. its a good phone if you have it in ultra powersaving mode and never use it. I just hate this phone I bought it from Ebay (from china). never doing that again. I had LG G2 before and its far better phone in every way. but I heard that snapdragon version is a lot better. beware of this shitty version from samsung. its unusable

  • Does this phone supports 4g ?

  • I bought one S5, SM-G900H in October 2014, and I am no satisfied!!!! [email protected] Big fish for a low price doesn't exist, don't forget this. Very bad phone, becareful, it seems to be good, but every day it is programmed to download different programs, porno or not, games, etc., the you uninstall but 3 minutes later they are uploaded again and the phome momorie is full. Advise: I don't know the rest of the chinese models, but this one is very bad. I have a fiernd whobought more than 40 phones of different models from Chine (Aliexpress), and it happens the same. What can I do, per haps it is worthwhile to pay a bit more for an original it is what I will do next time. (I have send many emails to Chine, the man who sold my device, but never answer..China, I'm sorry, you are very cheap but it means you have to pay many times for the same product, and it pays to pay a bit more for an original only once)

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 (Octa) is a very good smartphone but the main problem is Samsung's delay in updating Android 5.0 to 5.1. There is lots of difference between Android 5.0 & 5.1. I am from India and I am eagerly waiting for 5.1 update. India is a very big market for Samsung. They launch all flagship models in India but when it comes to update the OS , they just take so much time & millions of Samsung users gets frustrated.

  • Hi,After updating the software 388mb. how it the performance of the phone and battery line and heating

  • Just Downloaded 388.8mb update - It is about performance improvement Changes : Got Smart Manager which included inbuilt antivirus , Storage Details , Ram Booster, Battery Settings This SMART MANAGER debuted recently in samsung s6 Very useful app by samsung People!! Download it without any second thought No lags .. And after downloading update UI is smooth and lag free

  • So the apps are very responsive, fast and good, no update on battery usage or ram usage though, that will be able to find out after few days of usage only

  • Heating issue .....light use produce a large heat on lollipop.....pls Samsung correct the heating issue.....

  • Samsung s5 is 4g but I socked this model not 4 g

  • To XPRESS55: I realise the delay happens when there are too many programs open. It opens quickly when there are three programs open I know that for a fact. Four or more may slpw it down. I haven't tested it fully yet. I have my S5 on Power Saving and Background Data Restriction (with CPU clock speed lowered) turned on YET the recent apps open up quickly when three programs are opened. I would say that's good.

  • With lollipop only delay seems to be on the recent apps button. Is there a way to solve it ? Make it instant ?

  • factory reset problem... plz help us..

  • I just received a software update. The file is about 367mb. Hopefully this update will solve all the problems in lollipop expect it to be released for other regions in the following days. To check all Samsung updates go to this link

  • Factory reset the phone. Same occurred to my phone also. Now running fine.

  • factory reset it, it should solve the issue...

  • Samsung should give an update for their sm g900h for battery issue and over heating problem...........

  • G S5 G900H lollipop antutu scores between 27k to 33k & kitkat scores between 37k to 43k and one more thing i've noticed that i found low frame rates on lollipop version.

  • My s5 octa core was very heat automatically from after update of lolipop version

  • I have lolipop version

  • nope , i dont use power saving

  • In reply to Original-Jamaican by last longer i mean battery life will increase, if it has a life of 3 years, u will get 4 years may be if u charge it only when the battery is about fully drained

  • To IJAZ.ALI: Do you honestly think you will get longer battery life if you charge the battery when it reaches 10% opposed to charging it at 50% or 1%? Is this documented or proven anywhere? If so share that link or info. Lastly do you use the power saving feature on your S5?

  • so thats okay, i mean for a smart phone 2 days + is much better. Also charge your battery only when the battery is drained to 10 % , urbattery will last longer :)

  • I have used both phones.. If we compare moto x2 with Indian samsung s5, moto X2 will be the winner.. but the battery backup of moto x2 is very poor..Other wise it is ok..but if we compare moto x2 with samsung s5 4G, moto X2 is nothinge. .In early days I was used Indian s5..but now a days I am using samsung 4G. .so please go for s5 4G. .otherwise moto x2

  • To IJAZ.ALI: I have done most of what you have. I turned off the lights from the keys. However, I use manually brightness most of the time because I have found out the battery lasts longer that way. Auto-brightness uses the light sensor to determine what level of light to use...so in fact that will consume a bit more power. You probably get your 3 days due to you not really having much apps. I have around 20 apps and as you know most of them run in the background whether you are using them or not...and whether you are online or not/. On average I get close to 2 days or 2 days plus.

  • To Original-Jamaican: My s5 brightness is on auto brightness mode so that helps a lot to save the battery. beside that i havnt lot of apps installed, specially games , truth is i m not very much fond of playing games on cell phone. also i depends on usage, my uses usally are some text messaging, whatsapp, camera use. also i turned off the touch keys light.so that also helps alot ;)

  • To IJAZ.ALI: What type of optimisation do you do exactly to get 3 days backup?

  • I will go for this device if it has 4G and 3GB RAM bt unfortunately its not :(

  • Hi I have problem with the battery that drains ao fast. I executed factory reset as told the problem is still persistent. I'm about to buy a new battery however i'm afraid that this current battery is okay and by acquiring a new one won't solve the solution

  • Thank you :) . i had solve the problem ;)

  • Factory reset the device, it will solve the problem, if still the problem remains , reply me then. my s5 lollipop gives me 3 days backup, and i m happy with it :)

  • Samsung s5 at 5.0 updates battery becomes wasteful and easy to heat different as more efficient battery 4.4.2 kitkat not hot

  • Samsung s5 at 5.0 updates battery becomes wasteful and easy to heat different as more efficient battery 4.4.2 kitkat not hot

  • Most Samsung users occasionally get this issue and mostly solution is : go to advanced wifi settings - disable "always wi-fi scanning". Also be sure to factory reset after the update.

  • i would'nt recommend a7, between s5 and note 3 u have to decide mostly on screen size, if you want a bigger screen go for note 3, if not go for s5, also for better camera go for s5 it has got 16MP instead of note 3 which has 13MP... choice us urs, but personally i will recommend note 3

  • help me to buy a mobile . i want to buy samsung galaxy s5 or samsung galaxy a7 or samsung note 3

  • hey,, guys please help me to buy a phone ,samsung s5 or moto x 2 is better?

  • hey,, guys please help me to buy a phone ,samsung s5 or moto x 2 is better?

  • cell phone super speed, fast chip!! camera big picture!

  • hey i have problem in my gs5 when i was watching movie . then my phone get dead . and i hove to open it and remove battery and the restart it again then it work good

  • Same as urs, SM-G900H

  • TO Original-Jamaican : Well, amzaing thing is its been two days i haven't open my whatsapp and viber and surprisingly my phone is not heating any more, i m not sure which one is causing the problem, but i might uninstall viber first and will start using whatsapp, if there is no more heating then its for sure, viber was the problem, other wise i will try the other way around... :)

  • Is anyone having black screen problem in s5 when pressing power key sometimes the soft keys lights up but the screen does not respond after presing the power key two times the screen lights up if anyone having same problem let me know

  • To IJAZ.ALI: Yes I have the G900H. Which version do you have?

  • To IJAZ.ALI: It's a good thing you told me the apps you use. Whatsapp is fine but somewhere I believe I read where Viber is problematic and very buggy leading to big battery drain and causing smartphones to heat up excessively. My advice to you. Wipe the phone ONE more time and ONLY install Whatsapp. See if the problem goes away after that. If the phone still heats up automatically then it's your Lollipop OS that's having the issue. Please keep me posted.

  • this phones is Upgradeable Lolipop wtf.. add this!!!

  • which one do you have ? SM-G900H ?

  • TO Original-Jamaican: Thanks alot for ur precious reply, actully i have factory reset my phone 2 times nothing happen, after few hours it started to heat up again , i also formated my memory card, that didnt help me out also, and regarding the app i have installed only whats app and viber, nothing else i have installed on on my phone yet, i dnt know what is it causing the battery to drain, may be its a bug in lollipop 5.0 that causing this problem. i m waiting for 5.1.1 or 5.2 , may be that could remove the problem, other wise i have tried every thing else, i m even thinking of reinstalling the lollipop via kies.

  • Fortunately for me ny S5 doesn't heat up automatically. If it does heat up it's when I'm using it.

  • To IJAZ.ALI: Maybe you have a bad behaving app also known as a rogue app. Check your battery status by going to the battery menu in settings and see what is using the most battery. If you see any app you downloaded using the most battery then more than likely that is the cause of your problem. If you don't see any app you downloaded using the most battery and you see Android System or Android OS using the most battery then that could still be a downloaded app which doesn't show in the forefront. If it's an app you downloaded and you see it using the most battery...for example Magic Jack...then uninstall it, power off your phone, start up back your phone then reinstall it from the Play Store. Chances are you will get the latest version of that app which should be problem free. If you re-download the app and the problem is solved then more than likely the problem was due to a corrupt file within that app. Also make sure your 'Play Services' is up to date. Having a older version is known to eat up more battery life when newer apps are installed. If all that fails then enable POWER SAVING MODE and select RESTRICT BACKGROUND DATA. That should cool things down. If nothing I have suggested works then you might need to WIPE your phone...that is RESETTING it to factory settings. You can do that from the BACKUP and RESET option in the menu. You can also do a HARD RESET by turning the phone off, hold down VOLUME UP, HOME KEY and POWER BUTTON. Select WIPE PARTITION CACHE and and then select DELETE ALL DATA. Please get back to me and let me know how it turned out.

  • what to do for the automaticlly heating of s5 after lollipop update, i dnt even use it, and its getting heat which cause the battery to drain fast.

  • hello, i have updated my s5 to lollipop a mnonth ago, now it has started heating up automatically without me using it, which cause the battery to drain fast, does any one here know the solution here ? i m very worried. please help me here, i dnt want to get back to kit kat.

  • Good day EVERYONE. I finally made the plunge to Lollipop even though I didn't initially plan to...as to why I did it is a long story. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT LOLLIPOP: 1. Cleaner interface. Material Design is even nicer than I thought. The white colour throughout the interface makes a difference. 2. More snappy (for the most part). 3. Longer lasting power from the battery with the right tweaks. 4.Much Faster shutdown. While KitKat took about 7-10 seconds Lollipop takes about 3 seconds. Faster shutdown also means faster restart in the event you need to restart your phone rather than shut it down. 5. Fingerprint scanner is more accurate than stock KitKat 4.4.2...though the last update to KitKat (for the G900H) seemed more accurate. 6. Fingerprint scanner lets you know your finger was recognised with a little vibration. That's a good feature because you can unlock your S5 with your finger without looking to see a confirmation. You can easily know if your S5 is unlocked or not whether you look at the scren or not. 7. More buttery feel overall. Everything just seems smoother. WHAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT LOLLIPOP: 1. After touching RECENT APPS you can't jump back to the HOME SCREEN by touching the left or right of the screen when the apps are shown vertically...or anywhere on the screen when they are no apps to show. 2. Seems to get hot more easily when the processor is running at full speed. There's an easy fix though, just enable POWER SAVING MODE and if you RESTRICT BACKGROUND RESTRICTION it will be even cooler. Most times when POWER SAVING MODE is it will run in the 80s plus degree farenheit. ULTRA POWER SAVING MODE will of course do the trick as well. 3. GSMArena says the VOLUME is louder with Lollipop. Under KitKat GSMArena rated the loudspeaker volume at 66.9 for voice, 66.6 for music and 75.7 for ringing phone. Under Lollipop GSMArena rated the loudspeaker volume at 70.7 for voice, same 66.6 for music and 78.0 for ringing phone. Honestly though I see no difference in voice calls when on loudspeaker and the ringing doesn't seem any louder to me. 4. While the overall look of Lollipop is nice, the artistic look of the notification panel looks awful. It looks dull in the sense of it having a washed out look. It looked much nicer in KitKat. Overall though upgrading to Lollipop was a smooth transition for me and I don't have some of the problems that some user complains about. For instance, I don't have any camera problems which a few persons have complained about. It works as well as it used to in KitKat. My S5 is factory unlocked. It was never tied to a provider/carrier so maybe that makes a difference. Well that's my findings after upgrading to Lollipop in exactly one week ago. If there's anything else anybody finds out please share and maybe we can work together to solve any issues.

  • I got lollipop update on my S5 but the most irritating thing is HEATING PROBLEM.. The device gets so much heated that it starts to lag and apps freezes in between.. Any help on my S5 SM-G900H

My same configuration TAB S 8.4 get 5.02 update and after my tabs network setting showing 4g lte option. If u have any information please convey me. Thank you. Josbhai

  • The only different between quad core s5 and octa core s5 is that only quad core s5 get the lollipop update. Samsung must have forgotten their octa core s5.

  • cant I use 4g with this phone ?

  • I have got a s5 SM-G900h and this get extrem overheating sometimes I can't even touch It and still It doesn't got android llolipop update.

  • @PUMt. You don't. The G900H version of the S5 doesn't have LTE

  • I updated a month ago and i recommend it. Almost everything has gotten buttery better except the annoying white theme and slight recent apps button delay also remains. Also be sure to factory reset after the update.

  • what is s5 octa antutu benchmark in lollipop?

  • I want to buy phone S5 octa is better or A700F ? tanx

  • To IVAN: My Cota-Core version DOESN'T hang. It's smooth.

  • no, i am using the octa-core version, it's always lag even in smallest thing

  • @sam: 1.75gb ram available out of 2gb... And i really doesn't matter bcoz till now i didn't face any lag/hang issue... And people who says that s5 hangs, lags and overheats they are trolling...they haven't used this beast...they just are the fanboys of some other brands...so just ignore them...:)

  • @someone: see both are powerful exynos and snapdragon but if you're more into gaming then i'd would suggest you the quad core version ie snapdragon one....otherwise for multitasking exynos is better...coz the snapdragon has got better gpu than the exynos one...i've exynos version and i played many heavy graphics games that i'd already mentioned in my previous post,i didn't found any frame drop or lag kinda thing... Also the snapdragon version supports 4g/lte..if you're area where u reside has 4g then i will suggest u go for lte version...and in a country like india 4g is not yet developed fully...so it's alright if u buy the exynos version..it is also a powerful phone but with slightly weaker gpu though...and around 25-27k this phone is best to buy...it has got everything and mind you it's a flagship phone....:)

  • wellcome Lolipopppppppppppp

  • witch one is more powerful octa or quad

  • hi i have a question for you.. is it true that the octacore is mor poerful than the quad core verison? please reply as soonest you can

  • I am asking about ram?

  • How much ram available at the moment of buying?

  • Hello fellas!I am using s5 sm-g900h since past 4months...to be honest i didn't face any kinda issues like lagging, hanging, overheating and all...i have updated my phone to lollipop..battery backup i am getting is very good..i am getting around 6hrs of on screen time on heavy usage..earlier when i was in kitkat i was getting approx 7hrs on screen time..which was indeed great...performance is smooth as buttery, cam during daytime is mindblowing, and on low light it's prettt average...when it's almost dark and while taking pics without flash i m getting pinkish tink around the corners of the pics...i don't why, maybe somebody could help me on this issue..:(..but anyways overall experience is very good with this phone...earlier i was having s3 and it is worth to upgrade to s5..if somebody's using s3 or that kinda ph may consider to upgrade it s6 if you're cash..otherwise this phone is awesome.. The only downside of this phone is it doesn't have 4g/lte...and about my gaming performance this phone can handle any heavy graphics games..i have played modern combat5,nova3,asphalt8,real racing 3,the walking dead 2,and gangster vegas etc..all the games works like a charm... And the last thing is this phone doesn't look sexy... Cons:speaker pretty average, doesn't look sexy, prettt average low light performance... PS:MY S5 has fallen twice on the floor on the screen almost 4ft of height..didn't got any scratched and the phone is still working great... This is the honest review by me..i am from india..this is the best phone to buy around 25-27k INR.... any queries about this phone i am always there to help u out guys...and hell yeah i ain't a fanboy..this is based on hands on experience...:)

  • *#9090#

  • My country is (sunshine) Uzbekistan

  • i too also experience some heating problems after upgrade to lollypop

  • i find that now i have upgrade to lollypop my chromecast is out of sync all the time

  • what is the region of your mobile??

  • i have updated my s5 SM G900H to lollipop 5.0(India) but heating problem present.

  • When I can receive the lollipop update to my phone s5(exynos)(country:southafrica(XFE)). Thanks....

  • Recently i have updated my s5 to lollipop, believe me now it is just a bullet, very fast. Now it is free from heating problem, RAM problem and battery problem...... i am vary happy....Thanks Samsung......

  • from egypt

  • Where you bought?

  • g900h is fantastic phone , after 6 month , no lag , battery is great , best camera ever , very fast and powerful, playing high graphic games on it like ( gta - dead trigger 2 - modern compact - fifa 2015 - over kill 3 - asphalt 8 - real racing ) very smooth no heating issue , no lag simply...great phone .

  • BTW, i'm from the philippines, no OTA lollipop update yet(probably the last place on earth to have the update via OTA)for the S5 G-900H, but i updated mine manually. I agree the lollipop update is a major one as most android gurus say.

  • Got my S5 G900H as a gift from my son and i think it's great. Used to be an apple guy but samsung just don't put all its marbles on a single device, so u got to choose ur poison. Choose note 3 or 4 and deal with its bulk, or S5 w/ its fingerprint scan and dust/waterproof features but w/ old shape(really?) or the S6 edge w/ its cool style but non-removable batt...so its really ur choice...iphone 6 plus? But don't post too negative aspect of a device coz u can't win em all.

  • None, don't buy it. Touchwiz is hell slow. I have exynos version. Too much slow and buggy and apps crash constantly

  • By ur experience which is gud compared to exynos or snapdragon? Plz suggest me

  • I was using s5 900h from last 5 months. I didn't observed any major changes in performance. Battery backup is also same. Only there are changes in the colors of app screens. If you don't get update also, There is no reason to worry. I have s4 also, where I observed many changes in all the departments starting from screen to battery. So be happy with your S5

  • Not so good. It is draining fast than kitkat

  • how is battery performance after updating phone on lollipop 5.0?

  • Still no lollipop update I think they forget to update.

  • Still waiting for the lollipop update in the middle east zzzzzz...

  • Check it in your device's software update section. This update is about almost 890 mb.

  • How did you install lollipop update on s5? mine is still running on 4.4.2 kitkat, i am from Pakistan

  • Lollipop update came to Iran.

  • yeah no doubt s5 is good phone ..but its shape is too old like galaxy s2 ,u can't compare s5 with s4 coz s4 shape and size is too good then s5..

  • Could someone please tell which version is better for audio quality octa core exynos or snapdragon quad core? The exynos has wolfson DAC which is supposed to be better, could someone compare the audio quality and volume levels on both these phones? how high is the volume at 70% on exynos? please let me know

  • why this pone can´t use 4G LTE ?

  • Lollypop Update for s5 in India has been already rolled out Check out Update section in your phone

  • When Is This S5 Octa Core Getting Lollipop Update? Please Tell Me :-)

  • I bought a Samsung S5 Octa Core SM-900H. I am from Bangladesh. It is now running on Kitkat. I am satisfied with the battary backup. I wanna know will it minimize the battery backup if I update my S5 to Lollipop? I can't find the update via OTA though.

  • Flagship Brand is nothing but a company's core product which is most recognizable and has the expertise, values and product line of the business. For example, athletic shoes are the flagship brand for Nike though the company makes other clothing and sports gear. Yes both are diff choice but i feel note 3 as big phone and not comfortable tp hold and put in pocket Generally very few prefer large sized phones if you want large phone go to note 3 or want samll medium phone go to s5 i prefer medium sized phone and yes i have samsung s5 its cool

  • Snapdragon is better. I'm using it for 4 month it's so good no lag n brezz. ☺

  • thanks for answering , but im sorry i don't know what flag ship means if you can explain that to me ?? and i just noticed that the S5 octa core and the Note 3 in the same budget .. is it still better to go with the S5 ?? thanks in advance =)

  • See Samsung s5 is flagship Phone It offers future support where as A7 is also samsung phone mid entry level phone though samsung is offering to update to lollipop and has non removable battery better go to Samsung s5

  • ok guys , i have a limited budget and i was comparing the galaxy s5 octa core and the galaxy A7 and the iphone 5 what do you think is better for me ?? i don't play games at all on my mobiles waiting u to respond , thanks in advance =)

  • because octa core has the worst gpu. There is no solution. just buy an iPhone if want flawless gaming. Even snapdragon version can't play such games smooth. in samsung devices, u can just enjoy your removable battery and sd card expansion. Enjoy!

  • I installed the game call of duty -strike team -on my s5 octane core. But while trying to play the game the phone was hanging. I uninstall and reinstall the game but same thing happened. I love the game on my s3 but I can't play it on my s5 octa core. Anybody old help!

  • I installed the game call of duty -strike team -on the phone but after installation, the game could not load. It was hanging. I uninstalled then re-installed. It was still hanging. Can someone advice on what to do?

  • Its realy nice performance

  • Poor performance in gaming. Asphalt 8 even in lowest graphics lags alot. GTA San anreas run worse on it. it has the worst gpu, don't buy this cell. Due to contract, im hell stuck with it for one year. Most shit fone ever :/

  • Hi guys the octa core is more powerful than the snapdragon and it Has longer battery life And it has better 3d and 2d performance

  • S5

  • I have a samsung s5 snapdragon version SM-G900I in india but i have not recieved yet the lollipop update.when it will get released.please comment.

  • When we are getting lollipop update in Bangladesh

  • Hi guys , i m using samsung galaxy S5 SM-G900H (octa-core version) since more than 3 months , recently i upgraded it to lollipop 5.0 and it is a super phone , no complaints at all below are the merits and demerits which i experienced with this phone : Pros: Great camera , you almost get DSLR like images in good day light and video recording is above excellent Great HD AMOLED display , the display is the best i have ever seen on any smartphone device, view angle is 100% even in bright sunlight , great to watch videos or movies Gaming & Multitasking is a breeze in this phone you will have no lags or issue with any games or multiple apps open in the background Music is great with the earphone provided with this phone , its just awesome with highly customize able settings and equalizer Battery life is more than i expected , it lasts for a day easily with medium to heavy usage , Cons: Inbuilt speaker is kind of low in volume ,infact that too is not noticeable and it doesn't mater at all if you listen any audio/music via earphones in which it is just awesome !! LOOKS , does not looks the most stylish fone as compared to other devices Kind of expensive , but with such kind of features & premium experience which it provides believe me it is worth every penny !!!!

  • Snap Dragon version

  • It's already available OTA, Released yesterday morning itself.

  • install checkfus from playstore.

  • Nice phone...but i wanna know one think can we update v5.0.x (Lollipop) on this device ????...plz tell.

  • If you have the box, there would be a sticker that has your model number like SM-G900XX1HINS or SM-G900XX1HINU. And for sammobile go to firmware and search your model and look for India INU or India INS.

  • how can i check inu version or ins version, please help me out. g900hxxu1ang3 this is my build version number, can any one help

  • updated 3 days back via OTA..No Prob at all...even more responsive & attractive. Go for it...Its really amazing

  • Guys, I've installed INU version Lollipop over my INS version Samsung Galaxy S5. At 1st it was very lag due to the old files and data over my old firmware. So the next thing I did was, ROOT it, install CWM Recovery and I did wipe/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe Dalvik Cache. And then when I restart my device it's smooth as butter. But if you want to smooth it out more, Just go to settings, developer option and change the Window animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale to 0.5x. Now you can have a fast Samsung S5. By the way, I've installed my firmware like this. Stocked Kitkat 4.4.2, Lollipop 5.0 from Kazakhstan, backup my firmware from CWM Recovery, install Lollipop 5.0 from India INU version and restore data only from Advance restore from CWM Recovery.

  • There is one more problem .... When I put my hand on the Heart rate sensor it glows weather I am using the app or not

  • Guys after updating , I am facing lots of issue on the phone like when I click on something it does not respond in time and If I open lets say Play store through Browser to install an app it takes around 30 sec to open, Phone performance in running apps is okay but general UI its too laggy... Is there a Fix ... I have tried whipping the cache... and still nothing

  • Lallipop started through Kies for INU carrier. Check it out at

  • Hi friends I got lollipop update jus now is it android 5.0 or 5.0.1???

  • Hi Samsung, Uzbekistan expecting Lollipop

  • Indian S5 Lollipop update has been in the air for a while now using OTA, but only for INU version, INS version might be out for a week or so. When you try the OTA update and install an 800+ mb update, Yes It's Lollipop.

I don't think so to upgrade immediately from GS5 to GS6. It will not be hurry for GS5 owners to GS6. • I agree. camera is outstanding...better than competition but i'd like to advise u to run clean master once in your phone :p

  • Because size of the phone matters. As I said, I do not care about HD displays. What about the speed? Apple's dual core phones outclassed the octa core devices. Ppl only want real life performance. Not benchmarks. Seriously, I am using Samsung and I'm amazed by its camera. Images are just beyond perfection. But only camera doesn't matters.

  • Samsung note 3 got lollipop and it now runs smoother than butter hope s5 runs like note 3 too

  • Just one question. If no one cares for Full HD Display and when everything looks great on low resolution 4S...Then why did Apple go with it for the iPhone 6 Plus ??

  • It is out now, check out Sammobile

  • Ins. it will get Lollipop and later new android also, i hope

  • When will this version get Lollipop?

  • I'm from Central America but my phone is manufactured in Vietnam.

  • Where are you from? Still no signs of update as of now.

  • What instruction is this for? After upgrading to Lollipop version or rolling to stock version to remove error in ODIN?

  • The lollipop update is now available.

  • Using this cell since 2 months. Let me be honest, It is the slowest shit I have ever used. Even my cousin's M7 almost 2 years old device performs better than it. I'm not a benchmark person. Real life speed always matter. Only good thing I found in S5 is its camera. Its amazing. It performs well when its empty. I have another iPhone 4S with iOS 5 running on it. Far better device for daily usage. Love the fluid animations and lagless gaming on 4S. And who cares for HD display? Images and texts looks great on 4S with lower resolution. Who ever is going to buy this cell. DON'T!! I REPEAT, DON'T!

  • After using this Samsung Flagship device, i'll never buy anyother brand. Samsung's s5 is just class.

  • Hey guys! I had my S5 exynos upgraded to lollipop using the kazakhstan version, and it runs so smooth and precise, it extends the battery life. heres the full instructions, read all until the end and follow the instructions carefuly to avoid lags. This will help you all.

  • Because you didn't do the wipe cached. My Samsung s5 exynos runs so smooth in Lollipop witout experiencing like yours. Do the wipe cahced/wipe data. 1. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power button. 2. Use volume keys to select, Up and Down and Power or Home key to select the option 3. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Home button. 4. Next select the Wipe Cache Partition. 5. Lastly, select Reboot System Now to reboot your Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900H in Normal mode. Thats it! smooth and precise!

  • I hope s5 gets interface like s6 in 5.0 ....example selfie with heart rate sensor and many more

  • when is this model getting the lollipop update in India ?? long time...!!

  • I already have this handset, and yes It's great. But I was eager to try the L update and try its new feature. So I installed the KAZAKHSTAN version, PDA: BOAD through ODIN. Installation is OK, and then when I try doing some test I see some lags and problem with some application. Try to Benchmark with Antutu and I've got a low result for just 23000 rather than the stock rom which is 4500+ points. I don't know if its relevant to what country I use. And now when I try to restore my STOCK ROM I always getting an error but I find a way though. So better I'll just wait for the proper release for Indian Rom.

  • Please wait wait wait wait wait...

  • The update is only available in Kazakhstan.

  • this phone got 5.0 os (Upgradeable) sad ,that this site didnt wrote about it.

  • Samsung taking forever to roll out lollipop for this phone. I don't even think it's going to get lollipop again.

  • quad core is better.

  • It's not hurry for new o's update. But samsung should consider s5 before s4. all of us will buy flagship handset's because they will get latest os updates before older models. This was one of the reasons. But samsung ditched Indian S5 consumers.

  • I don't understand how the galaxy s4 eyxnos version is being updated to lollipop before this phone.

  • Why rush on the firmware upgrade? Be patient before flashing to lollipop until stable versions have been released. I've read that snapdragon version is better, that the octacore lags. It's true it lags but from experience the octacore phone performs much better on heavy duty like gaming, video, etc.I would not go back to quad core version. As for battery life it improved a lot since last update to kernel 3.10.9-2712167. In conclusion this is a good phone, on the top of the list.

  • I have downloaded the firmware 5.0 (Lollipop)for GS5 (SM-G900H) from the Sammobile (size 2.39GB) Build Number LRX21T.G900HXXU1BOA7 through Odin v3.10.6 in Nepal. It is not a problem with new firmware, working fine. I notice initially Finger Scanner improved and now smooth. Touchwiz looks different then KITKAT. 5.0 Lollipop second firmware G900HXXU1BOAD also need to update for battery performance. It is also possible to update through Samsung Kies.

  • Upgrade is not the fact..... The fact is the battery life and performance.... With out producing heat.... Does lollipop meet the criteria? Who knows..? Please confirm me....

  • Samsung what is the wisdom behind making a phone with 8core without LTE with same battery, now it does not last a day

  • Okay thanks for the info bro

  • it's been released in Kazakhstan on Feb 2015 and will be released so soon in other regions

  • I'm patiently waiting on the lollipop update. Do anyone have a idea of when it's going to be release?

  • the OTA L update already been released on Kazakhstan , it will be expanded all over the world so soon on the G900H

  • i flashed 5.0 lolipop ... sm g900h india version... its running smooth...dnt wait fr ota.. just flash it guys

  • the L update for the G900H will available soon in your country , starting from FEB it has been released only in Kazakhstan only then it will be expanded in all over the world so yes you will get the Update for lollipop so soon :)

  • Yes no 4G only 3G

  • Both better in own aspect Snap dragon .. more graphics octa core .. more multi task

  • So what's better overall... octa-core or quad-core? ?

  • Octacore but no LTE??

  • Bought the device -unlocked g900h- from Kazakhstan but living in another country and there isn't any update popped up yet, neither thru ota nor Kies. Will i get the update based on the country i live or what?

  • why this modle dont have 4G item?

  • Atlast lollipop 5.0 got released for 900h kazakhstan andriod lollipop for G900H released download and flash manually for Galaxy S5 g900h device guys..

  • Great news for all u guys. G900H lollipop got released just now :) Check sammobile website firmware. Android lollipop update for G900H kazakhstan is available for download :)It will be available or other countries soon......Finally Here :)

  • I have purchased Samsung Galaxy s5 sm-900h but I have not been able to turn ON its camera flash, what to do???

  • Me is using after it release.but yet not any lagging.may u should check any problem. But its little slow then iphone6 plus.

  • i too live in india.i was using s5 g900h octacore variant for more than 6 months and i find it lagging.Even after rooting and removing bloatwre apps the phone still lags. now i shifted to snapdragon variant and it much faster. you can buy through ebay if u want snapdragon variant.

  • It's not laggy for me and I couldn't care less about Lollipop after hearing that the silent feature has been removed.

  • then bring snap dragon version of note 4.. 3 and s5 to india we will buy

  • hello guys exynos galaxy s5 is very laggy everywhere. it has beaten snapdragon variant on benchmarks but it is not a good choice. it is good to buy the snapdragon variant.its a quad core and will receive lollipop updates then and then. whereas exynos s5 wont be receiving lollipop right now ,it will takes several months for it to come. Snapdragon variant has lots of custom roms... there are more developers who only develop new roms for g900f snapdragon variant. the exynos variannt has only 2 roms.

  • Best camera phone .i think almost near to 808 pureview.s health also is very interesting. one can try to increase foot steps and compete with global stds and burn the calories as a protection to keep the sugar value under control.kindly inform regarding SAR value body. Is it within norms? In India EU has to be chosen pl ? pv subramanian

  • Thanks. I have it in Iran & I am satisfied, but they release firmwares very less often compared to other phones. The phone itself is good. It gets hotter than 4 core ones, which is natural.

  • All features were awesome, If it upgraded to "L". Waiting for the same for best experience of the hardware.

  • i cant find custom roms for this version.

  • To ABHINAV: Do not mislead the public. Here are the advantages of S5 Exynos version which is NOT present in the Snapdragon variant: 1. More powerful cpu. The HMP 5422 is around 20% more powerful than snapdragon 801. 2. Faster RAM. Exynos s5 has 933 mhz ram over 800 mhz of snapdragon version. 3. Much better DAC. Exynos s5 has wolfson DAC which will provide a much better sound output over snapdragon s5 which has qualcomm DAC. 4. Full UHS I speed support.: The exynos s5 supports full class 10 ultra sd card speeds upto 70 MB/S which qualcomm doesn't. 5. More internal memory. It has 11.5 GB free whereas snapdragon version has 10 GB free. 6. Better ram management: exynos s5 has around 300 mb more free ram over snapdragon s5. 7. Exynos 5422 has the capability to supports hardware-assisted visualization, Snapdragon 801 does not have this. 8. Exynos powered Galaxy S5 is more power efficient, as during low work load it can only use its Little cores to save battery juice, Snapdragon variant does not have that option. 9. Feels faster and is more smoother

  • yes it will work ! but it's not that powerful as snapdragon one ...

  • Device is already work flawless and smooth. Why everyone is waiting to update it to lollipop? For just a bunch of new animations I guess

  • Index service is causing huge battery drain of my phone. how can I fix it??

  • Will this phone work in the UK

  • The S5 is said to be a very strong smartphone from the get-go but since week I saw something on Youtube which really surprised me. An ultimate water test was done on the S5, first in a pool for 1 hour which it easily passed. Then it was placed in a washing machine. Check out the ultimate S5 water test here:

  • Atlas, found someone who see the real picture .Fully agree . Always wondering why they have to change, when the perfect Formulae was found in a 4.7inch perfect screen, And they dont add on the super features of 2.7khz octa core Replaceble battery, and m sd cdcard for us S2 lovers. Please drop the apple crab.

  • android lollipop update pls

  • Dont worry Android L is on the way .. mostly in feb or march

  • is lollipop update comes for octa core galaxy s5(g900h) or not? please tell me..

  • It is nothing to complain about, learn how modern android works, you don't need much free ram.

  • Anyone here know how to release more RAM in this version. I have only a very little RAM available even if my all apps are closed, only 400 or 350 Mb

  • G900 H is the octa core and the other is quad core xD

  • IS lollipop available for s5 SM-G900H

  • No there are no such Tom's for g900h only other models are available if you flash other s5 model rom in g900h your phone will be bricked.Rumors says that we get lollipop at the end of the month.

  • Sorry,I forgot about the fingerprint scanner. I personally find it a waste of time as after registering print, or either takes numerous swipes to recognise print or doesn't recognise it at all and I have to enter the pin code. Time consuming! I haven't bothered to use fingerprint for purchasing anything.

  • Hi. I find that it does get hot when moving files around between folders ie. from device memory (32gig) to my SanDisk (32gig) memory card or when on Internet. I don't play games so I can't comment on that. Memory card has no influence on charging time or hanging. Only time phone is slow is when searching on help menu.

  • Your phone is immitation.hahaa

  • The S5 is an outstanding smartphone from the smooth operation to the camera (camera is really outstanding) but I have one little gripe, the display. Yes it looks sharp and vibrant but the trouble is I have a S2 as well. The colours on the S2 looks more vivid, more colorful...I guess due to it having a Super AMOLED Plus screen (only member of the Galaxy S family to have it). Even with the S2's resolution being less than HD, I still feel it over the S5 Full HD screen. I have put both phones side by side and gone through the various display modes and in each mode viewing the same image/same video clip and the S2 looks more vivid to me. I know the S5 screen is a better overall screen but you can see the difference between the S2 RGB compared to the S5 pentile matrix. Does anybody else share the same view as me? Is anybody else feeling the S2 screen over the S5?

  • so is it the G900H gonna get the lollipop or not :( ?

  • Since lollipop is compatible with 64 bit processor it is compatible with snapdragon 801 processor and not the exynos which is 32 bit so let's wait for few weeks till Samsung releases the update it as already rollout in Korea Poland Malaysia and russia for LTE dual Sim version and SM-G900F.THere are few bugs that s5 lollipop user experiences such as fb crashes finger scanners not working properly and phone stands for only 6-7 hrs due to white material design and newly updated TouchWiz but Google ang Samsung are trying to fix in last two update.Currently Google has released 5.0.2 for nexus device And we had to hope that they better fix the bug.so don't panic and wait for few weeks or months for Samsung that they would release a better bug fixed update for SM-900H . Now it has started to rollout for U.S carriers such as sprint, version and other carriers.

  • I got my S5 Octa core few days ago. No heating issues at all. Even when I play big games like dead trigger 2, modern combat 5. The phone works very well. Its processing speed is faster than Quad core snapdragon version. Not the same in terms of graphics. Quad core version is 60 percent faster than it in term of graphics and shader performance.

  • A 64-bit operating system does not require 4+ GB of RAM. The advantage of 64-bit vs 32-bit is simply that 32-bit operating systems can use no more than 3.5 GB of RAM, while 64-bit can use (in theory) Terrabytes of RAM. Lollipop will be released for all versions of the Galaxy S5 eventually.

  • Many persons think that the S5 no longer has a capacitive menu button (I also thought so too when I first saw a live demo display model in a store) but it's still there under the quiet. Simply hold down the multitask capacitive button until the menu pops up. Holding it down between 1.5 - 2 seconds shows the menu options. I realised this on the very first day that I used my brand new S5.

  • what is the cell phone plan it is so hard to find!

  • Dear kraken96 are you sure that what you mentioned is true. Till now no tech sites speaks about this octa core version. How strongly you text Feb or march. Of samsung takes such a delay remember that samsung last flagship will be this phone. People will definitely move to ios. So samsung should push the update by first half of Jan alleast.

  • I think Samsung doesn't care much about this version of S5. There is also not a single custom rom for this. NO Cynogen rom for this version. nothing good about this version. Why the hell samsung has to have their own crappy processor and gpu snapdragon version is cool and superior no one wants their crappy processors S5 G900H version sucks Do not buy

  • All i have to inform you i had compare z1,z2, htc m8 still i am inspired by s5 octa version becoz i had this version this version had best battery timing once i had charge it to 100% and use youtube continously without any stop it gave me 8 hrs on youtube videos after 8 hrs battery drained to 6% not just YouTube running but also FB whatsapp viber wechat in background make sure background apps also consumes battery. And for all of your ki d information that google has changed kitkat coding assembly etc that doesn't allow any type of virus to harm the operating system or slow it down. Because ihad experience it once i used my old sd in my s5 at that time i had not installed the anti virus app then i indtall 360 anti virus it detected almost 51 malwares in card and i proud to say still s5 working smooth as butter and come to game area i had installed mc4 anf mc3 phone not got hot too much bit hooter compre to normal use and also done the water proof test and st passed that exams

  • Wheb Lollipop update???

  • This model already beat snapdragon 801 in antutu benchmark. So anyone of you don't needs to worry, design is beautiful enough and the best part is it's made of plastic so it's alot durable, am shifting from z1 to this because my Z1 got bend (google it if you have any doubt). If you're from india then don't think twice, just go for it because LTE is too expensive to use around 2000 rs. So I don't think any reason is there to turn this phone down.

  • i have been using galaxy s5 since 5 months no complaints at all... but lagging problem must be solved out in up coming samsung mobiles....fully satisfied...

  • Recommended SD card above Class 6, Class 10 is much better. Play audio/video files from Internal Storage without using SD Card. If it is okay then use good quality SD Card as above recommendation.

  • Owned the Galaxy S5 unlocked for only 3 months & the camera developed a bizarre dark spot right in the middle of the viewfinder (picture) for no known reason. It appears in every picture and video taken. I searched online & discovered other people had the same issue so it's not just me, and of course Samsung's only solution is to factory reset the ph which wipes all your data & apps. Not happy haven't paid retail for the ph just to have a major feature fail in 3 months.

  • I took videos and pictures in the sea and he is still working normally

  • It is not water resistant. My new S5 fell into a bucket of water but it flickered and switched off. When I tried to turn it on, it doesn't. Enquired to Customer Care, they are replying that water has entered inside the phone and touch panel got damaged. Need 10000 plus for service. This Samsung is cheating all of us. Be carefull guys!!
