Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4s - User Reviews

  • Same! The only thing is: there is no fingerprint :(

  • This phone might by very good cell signal reception I think, because it has high SAR, but processor might be bettter and battery might be betterm becasue Xcover FieldPro have 4500mAh battery and this 2800mAh.

  • As always unavailable here in the Philippines. LMAO!

  • i bought a used but very good condition XCover 4 for my 11-year old son and it received an Android 9 update as well. I'm really very happy with I because I bought it for only £120. Although the battery is only 2,800mAh, it lasts more than 2 days in an average use.

  • I love my Xcover 4 and maybe I will switch to this updated model later. I'm surprised my older Xcover 4 got Android 9.0 update recently and it runs only a little bit slower than before, but still amazing for a phone with only 2GB RAM. More of these rugged phones with removable battery. Can't wait to see Xcover 5 in the future.

  • I ordered one for myself yesterday. Paid 223 euros from O2. Following are my views on my first hand experience with this device: Coming from a chinese flagship( Axon 7 ), I instantly missed the following features: 1. no fingerprint scanner. 2. no oled screen. 3. no notification LED. 4. poor speaker. 5. huge bezels. What I really liked about this phone is: 1.military standard ruggedness. 2. water proof. 3. very nice GPS reception. 4.removable battery pack and fast charging. 5.Decent performance. 6.Android 9 is intuitive and has many good features.

  • I will probably wait a few more weeks to buy one. The price is now down to £177.89 on an online Spanish retailer.

  • 2 TB?

  • I am surprised, the new Samsung handy realy dont support actual WiFi standard 802.11 ax ?

  • You can put a 1Tb card in it so how much more storage do you need?

  • I've been using XCOVER4 and now the 4S for a driver app solution, they are very rugged for purpose, screen won't crack, waterproof. Ideal for business applications. I've dropped this on concrete, hard floors, never an issue. Designed for work not playing stupid videos or games. Good battery life.

  • What specification page are you reading? It clearly says IP68. Even the older version Xcover 4 is IP68.

  • IP67 rating yet battery's removable? Take my money! I need this!

  • Probably the ones like me who wants removable battery

  • The Active phones and Tabs are mostly used by heavy duty woek, like construction

  • this smartphone is not for cry babies who waste their time playing games on their smartphones...this smartphone if for employees of big enterprises that want to make more billions by spending less than £250 on a rugged smartphones for their employees...this smartphone is for the member of armed forces of countries who wants to have a smartphone that will survive the extreme environments...this smartphone is for employees of big supermarkets or warehouses who are scanning thousands of SKUs on the shelves or pallets every day and update their product/goods database on real time at a much cheaper price compared to their old windows-based ultra rugged scanners.

  • Who wants this? Buy a better phone with a ruged case and you get much better value.

  • less than a month after this phone was officially introduced and the price is now £198.69

  • This thing was made in 2012

  • There is a little bit of hope with regards to the screen of this phone (PLS). The screen on my wife's Galaxy A20e which has a PLS screen has a much better quality than my son's Xcover 4. If Samsung uses the same quality of PLS on Xcover 4s, I may consider buying this phone as a no-nonsense phone. The price at a Spanish online retailer had gone down to less than £212 including P&P already.

  • Did you notice thr Ip68?

  • What's the use of PowerBank ?

  • Its PLS TFT similar to IPS please do some research before comment.

  • it's not, and that's the point. modern smartphone model is not everyone's favorite

  • Is this reeally 2019 phone model, samsung are you kidding.

  • umm, this one actually use TFT not IPS, still worse than super amoled though. and that's what it written on the specs i don't know what you're expecting also, i know it's not my business but why did you give this phone to 11 yo kid? if you want to give him decent phone, go for A50 it's literally the same price if not cheaper. if you give him a shit phone on purpose go for A2 core, 11 yo kid is smart enough to not throwing his phone to floor or water daily and even if it does break you could bought another 2 spare and still save yourself some bucks and don't get me started with another brand like xiaomi and realme it feels like a real waste of money tbh

  • i lost my excitement on this phone after i received the older version Xcover 4 which i bought for my 11-year old son who is going to year 7 this coming september. the Xcover 4s has the same IPS LCD as the older version. my very old Galaxy Rugby Pro which was introduced by samsung 7 years ago has a super AMOLED screen and trashes the screen of Xcover 4 despite the Rugby Pro's low screen resolution (480p vs 720p)

  • i don't know where you live but i can buy a dual sim version of this now from a Spain-based retailer and delivered to UK within 3 days for the total price £223.61 (248.86 euro) including P&P.

  • It has i68 what do you expect?

  • I just found out it's 300 euro /337 usd. Any praise I had of this phone is now void. At that price it's literally a scam. I'd even feel morally unethical buying used knowing the best I can offer some poor sucker is 70 euro / 79 usd.

  • When will this be available in the US?

  • That's why it's removable. Get the 📱 + 4 spare 🔋.

  • Hello When will we be able to buy this model (Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4s) in the Samsung Brand Store in Europe (Poland) ?

  • For 200 bucks or less is a good rugged phone :D

  • Yes, I agree! Galaxy Xcover 4s will come with Dual SIM (SIM1 + SIM2) + MicroSD slot. www.samsung.com/de/smartphones/galaxy-xcover-4s-g398-enterprise-edition

  • in 2 months this thing costs 200 dollar

  • 300eur for this piece of...?

  • from official Samsung Germany website...the Xcocover 4s Enterprise Edition will be sold as dual sim version: ------------------------------- Network Specification: Number of SIM cards: Dual SIM Size SIM card: Micro-SIM (3FF) SIM slot: SIM 1 + SIM 2 + microSD ------------------------------- (link: from official Samsung France website...the Xcocover 4s will be sold as dual sim version: (link:

  • i am one of those who are disappointed with Samsung's approach with regards to the battery of this phone. I actually don't mind if the phone is 10mm or 12mm thick for as long as it is packed with high capacity battery. (5000mAh minimum, preferrably 10,000mAh) a person who go outdoor or employee who use this phone to scan thousands of bar codes in the warehouse or in the supermarket requires a high capacity battery...a soldier in a training or actual combat for a couple of days requires a high capacity battery...a delivery man who scan hundreds of parcels every day requires a high capacity battery...a push biker who is using this phone for long hours with satnav requires a high capacity battery...

  • interesting...it looks like samsung will release a dual sim version of this phone...just google "SM-G398FN/DS"

  • Agreed!

  • Awesome!

  • Exactly!

  • People don't realize how good 3 physical face buttons are for IT professionals & power-users. Once rooted you can assign different actions for single-press, double-press, short-hold, long-hold, etc. for each button. Unlike digital buttons they're always "awake" when the screen is off and can be activated by simply putting your hand in your pocket and feeling for the button(s). This becomes second nature after a few weeks of use.

  • why not dual sim ???

  • I'm a fan of the removable battery as well, just about every new smartphone these days has a sealed-in battery & I'm not a fan of that.

  • It's so cool! But Samsung could do with another Xcover, like an Xcover 5.

  • You are ugly! This design is very very beautiful! And this phone is very performant at a low price, and other shitty phones are at a high price!! (Not talking about Huawei, LG, Xiaomi, OnePlus, iPhones, Pixel phones, Oppo, Vivo, Motorola, Honor and others)

  • iPhone 4s Anyone?

  • Deffinnetly buy it when it will be released!

  • it's made of rubber, so it's harder to push electricity over it than crystal or regular plastic cases

  • Definitely

  • This phone is made for people who have slippery hands or professions like construction workers who need a very good phone that can take a beating. It is not made for gaming or for taking excellent photos. The specs the ram for it's price tag and everything in it is just fine for the category.I have all the Xcover phones from the very first one. And will be getting this one also. So if you don't like it just don't buy it.Put you'r hand a little deeper into your pocket and buy something else.

  • Ok, but Qi wireless charging is missing. :(

  • Is this the one with built in microwave?

  • Good! It would be better if more phone like this existed. This would interesting refresh model, but it would be great if better CPU and GPU inside. I like physical buttons, because of smaller chance to accidentally press it while typing or watching videos. Also no problem when doing some sports or in rain, only missing Hang up/down buttons.

  • Dude if ipod Touch 7th gen existed..why not this

  • i'm an every day biker. Average daily 3 hours. Rain, snow, hail... I'll definitely go for it. I've been waiting for a "cheap" IP68 phone long ago. this phone will be perfect for motorcycle delivery, fast food delivery etc. i'm sure companies will buy it well. i think smart move from samsung

  • WTF Samsung? Where is the difference with the 2017 model ? Is this old stock sold for 300€ ? Physical buttons you must be crazy. Samsung please take a look at the chinese rugged phones brands. P.S I hope for rugged Moto One doing better.

  • Why are all rugged phones this sh*tty? I don't say you need 4k screens and 12GB of RAM, but what are rugged phones used for today: as for our business, building sites and buildings sites only! So what do you need? Alot of battery (3500mAh+, yes even with this low specs), a crips clean screen to be able to see blueprints on those tiny screens (not 720p), fast loading large blueprints (not 3GB RAM!), perfect for one handed writing (since you mostly got one hand to write) and also perfect photos with no bokeh and gimmicks but good editing tools (maybe a pen?!). Dual SIM! Lot of space for photos, IFC, Plans etc. Most people I know keep switiching from 2 phones...what's that good for?! Oh well, it's forbidden to use whatsapp, facebook etc. on a work phone, so make it easy and secure to switch profiles on rugged phones and make the phone so people can use it after work aswell, since there are others who use only 1 phone all day, they don't want to look at netflix running 720p screens. Leave that low specs to CAT- like real rugged phones and create a phone worth using on the building site while not being a builder who may need a CAT phone...

  • The battery....wow....can it survive in camping? These 2000mAh-ish battery smartphones still sells?

  • Still no fingerprint reader

  • Tbh, he probably does lol.

  • Your Redmi Note 7 can survive a dive undewater and then be dropped from head height?

  • this is a rugged phone this is not for regular consumers like you and me. this is for people who work in construction or people who work in extreme conditions.you can tell that from specs this phone got IP68 and MIL-STD 810G certifications.just because you love your redmi phone doesn't mean you can shit on other phones. stop with the redmi is better than anything crap.you guys are commenting this on every smartphone article.

  • It should be 4-4.5" display. Then more customers will buy for secondary phone.

  • I will bye it. Durable, cheap and practical phone. I am xcover4 user

  • helllllllllooooo its 2019 what they think with this ugly design !!! they think i will buy this phone with redmi note 7 and others hhh they are not serious

  • if only this thing have fingerprint sensor and ir blaster then i will buy it

  • i can't believe this low range device is IP68 and they removed water resistance from A series! i just would like a litle bit more of storage even if this is low range, but looks cool

  • This feels like a phone from 5 years ago. Maybe even older with a 720p screen rather than a 1080p screen actually.

  • Wait.... Isn't that the same chip like in Samsung A8 2018 ? I'd understand if it would run on Exynos 9610 like in new A50 or any SD chip of 7xx series, but this is kinda lame. That chip will be like 2 years old until this phone hits the market.

  • OMG i don't belive that this phone is the best phone will be forever it's the future phone WOW i'm Stunned Surprised ........ reallly samsung we are in 2020 are you a wakwe hahahah LOL

  • I swear that i will get this phone when it launches.

  • Cool! Samsung is back with the Xcover business!

  • Only 1 good feature : REMOVABLE BATTERY That is all

  • Professionals that don't care about useless stuff, need a reliable phone for work and that they could purposefully throw to the ground without worrying. This is not a "wannabe gamer that plays forgranight" phone.

  • As usual, subpar screen, low end specs and mid end price, why such release? Whos gonna buy this?

  • The removable battery is one good feature. :)

  • Those who want a really rugged phone will get something like a Cat B35. As for this, buy a Galaxy S10e and wrap it with a rugged case and it will have the same size and durability (scratch tests?). Sure the S10e is more expensive but it’s also a hell of a lot better phone.

  • Why tho?

  • And still charging 250 euros, i wouldn't take it for free, good joke samsung :D

  • For heavy duty workers, judging by the body itself and physical buttons. You don't need big screens or huge camera sensor for this phone, you just need it to survive even on worst conditions.

  • For what?
