WOW! Samsung uses AMOLED since 2009! Great job! And here come's Apple using AMOLED in 2017. Way too late. But better late than never? Anyway, I've never seen this phone in my country. :( Samsung became popular in my country with S2 on the premium range, Galaxy Y on the budget range, and Galaxy Ace (I think) on the midrange.

I have had this phone for 18 months. At first didn't think it was to terrible. Well I can't use bluetooth because it won't connect to any of the good ones and it didn't take long before the phone would reboot itself in the middle of phone conversations. Now it reboots whenever it wants to and the battery doesn't last longer than 4 hours and I have all the apps that would kill the battery life off. My advice: Don't get it!!!

Samsung does not give anymore official updates, but there are independant developers who have ported the android 2.2 and android 2.3 (gingerbread) for the i7500. It works quite well, though the camera software still needs some work. but its works ! Look up GAOSP, or drakaz for how to self upgrade this package onto your phone.

in Samsung Galaxy for Bluetooth.... Settings->Wireless Controls-> Bluetooth settings-> Turn ON. Use "Scan for Devices" option and then pair it with the Bluetooth headset you wish to connect. This phone only supports Bluetooth audio streaming to headset, u cannot make BT file transfers.

I bought this phone seven months back. from that day i have always faced an issue with the handset either very poor baterry / the automatic outgoing call drop in one minute/not able to attend the incoming calls / authomatic switch off.. gave the phone for service at authorised centre they reinstalled the software but still all the problem occurs again with in few days.. though its a good configuration, the spftwae problem are not addressed by samsung properly

Hey dude, try to get donate version of GalaxyUpdater from Drakaz site, you can able to upgrade your Firmware to Froyo 2.2. I have it on my Galaxy i7500, its rocking now :) Go for it..It involves lot of patience to do the process mentioned in that forum.

Hey I'm using this phone model from last 7 months, I'm very happy with this phone, as this has all the latest technology like wifi, 5mp camera, 8gb inbuilt memory and expandable up to 16gb, the amoled touch screen is excellent, high image and video quality, supporting many software application in android market etc., etc.,the only problem is battery, put it on charge for 8 hrs continuously, its one of the high efficient model with lower cost, buy this phone, but Samsung has come out with android 2.1 OS in the name of Samsung Galaxy S.

I am using it for about 6months. Dont have any problems. ONly thing is that u need to update 1.5 to 1.6 by urself as software is available & 128MB RAM creates little hassles. Other than which this is awsome except low on battery

hi all, i have some serious probes with my galaxy phone Android (Cupcake) version. My phone got locked and when i tried to unlock it , it gives me a msg " Invalid username and password" . I tried the same with my gmail acc bt opens smoothly. Now im struck up nowhere and im not able to enter my phone, neither do operations nor access a bit. This device is good in most of the aspects. Good Memory, Cam, RAM and connectivity as well but with out proper OS (Anroid 2.1) there is no point in buying this device. Knowing the fact that there is an updated device released in market "Galaxy S", not sure if samsung is actually working to upgrade this outdated device called "GALAXY" Personal advise: Better prefer/advise others to buy Samsung Spica. even though it comes with 3MP cam and memory specifications, it can now be upgraded to Anroid 2.1 currently available and that too for just 11500/- bucks. (even cam zoom, Bluetooth file transfer, cool interface, excellent browsing speed)

samsung has been delaying the froyo update for galaxy for about six months now. froyo should work very fast on the galaxy, since it has lower requirements than eclair, which is laggy even on the spica's 800MHz processor. hope froyo update will come soon for galaxy. patience is a virtue.

this phone sucks, too start this phone u need to login to gmail (although this is a no big deal, but u need a very good packet data connectivity). Cannot send files via bluetooth. I am so disappointed with Samsung about this phone I just have to warn everybody: do NOT buy it. The Samsung update software (New pc studio) from Samsung only works in windows and it doesn't detect nor update the phone. I bought the samsung galaxy i7500 n its given me trouble from day 1 battery life is crap i have to charge it aleast twice a day, my phone keeps heating up when i make calls , the bluetooth has given me a tooth ache can't figure out on how it works!!! its given me nothing but TROUBLE. i would advise tat no-one to buy this fone. its personally put me off samsung for life.

Dear all, DON'T BUY a Galaxy i7500. For more, I would suggest, never buy Samsung at all. I bought this phone 7 months, battery life is limited, frequent bugs, ... The main problem however is that Samsung is promising an upgrade from cupcake 1.5 (!!!!) for months. They bring out another galaxy model but no upgrade for 7500. With a policy like that, you don't deserve clients!

OK, after struggling for 2 weeks, I was able to get this monstrosity working (apart form Bluetooth). I even managed to install a satnav software that actually works on Galaxy. Battery life is 12 hours! My Nokia has a battery life of 9 days without push e-mail and 4 days with push email turned on. I really don't understand what the Donut upgrade brought, apart from constant crashes. If Samsung doesn't provide an Android 2.1 or 2.2 upgrade, that's it for me. Why doesn't Android have a beta label? God I miss the god old Symbian.

Totally agree with you about the service in the Samsung BTM(Bangalore) service center. They don't care about anything. I've also had to wait for about an hour before they attended to my complaint and then I realized they were just wasting my time. For me it was an mp3 player and they told me to come back after 2 months!!! I never did. NEVER go to Samsung Service center, BTM.

Please read it For my galaxy my battery is giving only 6 hours back up....I went to service centre bangalore , BTM one ....They don know anything there ...they only tell you to wait......After making me wait for like hours they told that they ll replace the battery and told me to come in 10 days as they don have stock ...And so i went after a week or so...the manager called up n checked and told battery has come and i have to wait in queue for my turn to come..so i got the queue token and waited and waited maybe for 5 hours or so ....The service is very very slow ....Worst service ........And then when my turn came the person is saying they don have stock and i have to come again after a weeks time ... So now i have decided i l sell this phone at a very cheap rate .. The moral is that Samsung as a company does not want to cover warranty service as they have promised and so they keep postponding until your warranty expires .... Samsung is a worst company ...i ll never buy samsung ...... so many people are there in samsung service centre as their product are not up to mark ...

never buy samsung galaxy I7500 in India, you never know when they are going to get the firmware update. Even the customer service guys don't know when samsung is going to bring the firmware update. Dear all, If you are confused btw 5700 or 7500 or lg w220, read carefully, I am using 7500 but also have hands on experience on othet two.so here are my opinion which I am sure will help u. I would suggest to buy i7500 because ....screen resolution 240*400 equal to 5700 better than lg220 and 5700.......memory is 8gb which is great.....video playback quality is extremely good as it can play mp4 file upto 29fps. ..u will not find difference in processor speed as its pretty fast.....battery backup is good as 5700 have but surely better than lg.... Hi Abhinav, You better choose this phone. It does not matter what the processor speed. You cant even make the difference of slowing down I7500. But this model not available. I am trying to buy this mobile for my friend too for last 2 weeks, but i didnot get even one. So dont waste much time in choosing. If you get this mobile then go for it otherwise go for i5700 which is also as good as this(except flash and memory).

Dear friend samsug galaxy is a very good phone. the only issues is with its low battery backup. An option to save battery is to install a task killer program from market. i reccoment Automatic Task Killer. cheers guys

Andy... if u are a handheld gamer dont go for the spica coz the spica seriously lags playing good 3d games( the ones from polarbit).if u are not go for the spica..i would still prefer the galaxy coz the price performance ratio is the best. if ur thinking abt avi divx playback spica is the best. but there are a lotta other players in development which play avi, divx files (yxflash)..and the main concern in galaxy is the battery life.. which is poor. andrioid 2.1 will be available unofficially by gaosp team in maybe 2 months..(i hope)..njoy deciding..

I've had this phone for 6 months now. I have to say I'm very happy with it. The phone is thin and looks good enough. The screen has great colors. I bought it because of Android OS. In the beginning it had problems: it was freezing all the time, but was fixed by firmware upgrade (done by the dealer under warranty, because the included "Samsung New PC Studio" software doesn't work).

@Dharmendra Pandey Ya...I agree with you...its excellent for gmail users :) nice "Auto sync" option!!!!(it automatically syncorise contacts,mail and calender) (gmail contacts will be your phone's contacts automatically)any changes in gmail contacts or in your handset's contacts will automatically synchronize...if our friends change their photos/etc in gmail options, it will change in your phone too)

Using the i7500 galaxy last 2 months. Pros- 1. Reliable Android1.5 os 2. Excellent display, video playback is ok,good camera 3. Excellent internet experience on 2g and 3g. 4. To save battery use Market applications like TAS Killer, Task Manager etc. It will close the running applications and the battery will not drain unnecessarily. This will help you in fast running of the mobile. Use applications like i have mentioned, you will find difference. :)

(even though we need to pay for good applications) but I have some ":(" too... :- 1.No Zoom/WB/Exposure settings for camera. 2.bluetooth only for headset(its only for phone calls).cant connect to PC for internet connection, will not support file transfer to PC/other Mobiles. 3.camera is too slow to load. 4.can not view documents like excel, word & .pdf etc, unless you pay for the application from market... 5.video recording frame rate is low: 15fps 6.Battery : 1 day maximum!!! (moderate use)without GPS, WiFi, BT etc.. 7.no equalizer for music player. 8.sometimes alert sounds may change automaticaly to some other audio files stored in phones memory... 9.sometimes video play back is not smooth... and can not view small videos in fullscreen... i prefer to convert videos to 480 X 270 resolu.(23fps) to view in Fullsreen.supports 3gp and mp4 10.android version is 1.5 11.no voice call record by default...(but ,we can install applications from market) 12.there is no password security for msgs,contacts, pic, videos, etc like other samsung phones.but we can lock phone with pattern (must draw the same pattern to unlock the phone.) if you failed it frequently your phone will ask gmail username and password to unlock.

i have had 4 of these handsets as kept breaking dwn , had probs with not been able to sign in to a email account as need account to use all functions on this handset , HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH TWO HANDSETS , kept lock in and not been able to unlock had to keep take n hanset to bits n put n bk together to make a call , another 1 kept turning its self off , another 1 not been able to access ur pictures when taken them plus ur phone numbers , STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS HANDSET , handset needs burying in the garden never to be seen again ,FROM MY OWN EXPERIANCE

Samsung have given no indication of any upgrade beyond the 1.5 it ships with. For this reason alone I wish id never bought it. Obviously implies Samsung just don't get the point of open source. I wont be buying anything with Samsung on it in a hurry.

It is a value for money .good 5 mp cam , amazing amoled 3.2 capacitive touch screen ,interface is good , 3.5 mm jack. But it runs on Android 1.5 wait for Android 2.x ,lots apps are available (for bluetooth ,vlc to play divx format, nd mny more ).

When you are thinking about Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, Better go for this phone. The only problem with this phone is till now there is no information about the upgration of OS. Google Andriod 1.6, 2.1 got released. But the Samsung company not provided the upgration option for this phone. A minor problem with the pc sync, Ofcourse it because of the OS, once it is upgraded, then it will be rectified.

All LG phone sucks.. even the expensive ones. The battery starts to die after 6 months of use. It doesn't matter the model. This Samsung has android OS, so you have lots of google tools to use it, most of them are for free.

If you having issues with battery life, turn off your wifi and applications you not using when your phone is idle. Also, lock your phone when you put it in the case so the case does not press buttons and lights dont come on and drain battery life. Nice phone. Has everything you need

I think this is because there is an issue with Bluetooth on Android 1.5. Samsung are 'supposedly' upgrading both Galaxy models to 2.1 in April, which should resolve the Bluetooth issue. Fingers crossed...

Its for those who are getting low battery back-up from Samsung I7500 galaxy, don't use the cover comes in the box. because its a bit tight for phone, the keys on side will remain pressed all the time, and it will not let the phone go in sleep mode and battery will run out really fast. I have experienced it and you can also check it by using your phone without cover

I just cant believe the quality of videos that this phone makes. It is even worse than videos on my old SGH-D600. I cant believe that 5Mp lens can produce such crapppy videos. And the compression of videos.... just awfull, and battery life .... criminal! Not to meniton the fact that Samsung has officialy confirmed that this phone wont be getting upgrade past Android 1.6... Let me be honest. A Nokia is a great phone have had a lot of them and wasn´t planning on stopping to use them. But now also have an android, works great the only thing lacking is (sorry) exchange and that is what my nokia is having. Android works great! 30 minutes and you would have kept this phone not returned it. this means you never had one!

I was on the point of buying one of these today but was in two minds as whether to get this or a Nokia so the shop gave me a loan of the Galaxy to try it out. After half an hour of use I put it back in the box and handed it back. I was very disappointed with it. Basic things like being able make a phone call should be easy to do, i.e. after dialling the number the key pad disappears and so I couldn't select the service I wanted from the automatic answering machine, you know, "if you want to talk to X, press 2" well the 2 was gone and there was no obvious way to bring back the keypad. The screen helpfully says "if you want more options, press menu" but the menu button isn't obvious. I kept wishing for my old Nokia 6267. Talking of which, the 2 year old Nokia's speakers are light years ahead of the Galaxy in terms of quality and clarity. The Galaxy sounded cheap and tinney, not what I would expect from a phone that retails at over 400 euro here in Spain. Nah, I'm sticking with Nokia, at least the menus are easy and logical and the sound quality is great. Another thing which attracted me initially to the Galaxy was the Android OS, but it is so SLOOOOOOW in booting. Maybe I will try a Samsung again in two years time.

great phone, great capacitive screen (could be larger - hope future models will have larger screen without becoming thicker), great handling. only one MAJOR DRAWBACK : has only Android 1.5 (CupCake version) and seemingly Samsung has no intention yet to update to Android 2.1 !!!!!!!!!!!, and a minor drawback (like all Android devices) the number of apps is still limited, but growing (and that's independent of Samsung. Unforunately Samsung seems to have no contact line to complain!!!! (does someone know how to get feedback to them?)

it's always funny to see strange rankings. most of the judges should stay at their big-boob contestes. iPhone O/S ist the most useless O/S you can find and it still doesn't support bluetooh file transfer outside apple devices. (that doesn't say that the iPhone istn't great.) winMo wasn't that bad for PDA's 10 years ago. for telephones it's not any good. don't understand that there are still so many companies are paying for it. you forgot symbian, the most stable O/S with millons of apps - but almost nothing for free. and maemo - another option, that could become very intersting within this year.

Galaxy is very good smartphone with a lot of usefull applications, most of them completely free on Android market. If you have turned on many widgets and background applications you need to know that battery will survive only one day, with some smart turns off battery will work 3 days too. But this is usuall for the most smartphones on the markets and galaxy is not an exception. Reported problems with 3G connections depend on your mobile service provider and its infrastructure, it is not a fault of the Galaxy. With New PC Studio you can install USB and Android drivers for Galaxy, then you need to go on Settings-About the phone-Additional settings on your phone and to switch on Mass storage only. On any Windows OS then you will see your Galaxy as USB mass storage device and be able to transfer from or on your phone all files: pictures, music, text files. You can synchronise your e-mails and contacts only with Google Mail, because it is the Google smartphone and they prefered their own services. If you open your Google Mail account on your PC, you will see everithing from your phone: contacts, mails, messages etc. Unfortunately, Samsung did not add good manuals for the Galaxy and many of these informations are not presented in written form. But, if you call your local service, usually connected with a selling company which provides Samsung phones in your country, there you will get all neccessary informations.

I made my friend buy this, and she finally got it for 14,200! I was also amazed at the price. The Spica(i5700) is for 13,000 and this is just 1,200 bucks costly? Amazing! While other competitors to this phone are still for around 25k, like HTC Magic - 22k, HTC Hero - 27.8k and HTC Tattoo - 16k. While i don't think any one of those phone are even as good as Spica, except for Hero. And the most interesting part is Samsung Stores still, demand 24k for this phone. :D Had i not been waiting for X10 so desperately, i would have this one for my self as well. :D Well, bout HotSpot in Delhi, go ask anywhere you get the same price range of around 14-15k. The one my friend got is from Patel Nagar.

1. In India you get this cute one for 140$ unlocked 2. There is no support for Firmware update (Only u need to get hold of un official updates and some features may not work) 3. Samsung new PC studio is a damn waste and Samsung has never considered to fix this( Searching for third party support) 4. Battery life is 4/10 very poor. I suppose the firmware update may resolve this issue. 5. The good thing is display,touch is very good and sensitive. 6. My opinion: Galaxy is a great phone but have some disadvantages: -there is not enough updates for it...hope it'll get Android 2.1 -when taping videos sound quality sucks -battery life sucks...you can be happy with 2 days from it(not using wi-fi, bt, 3g...)otherwise you got only 1 day from it...so charging every night highly recommended Some responses to prewriten posts: @vivek: you can't share files over the bluetooth if you have original Android 1.5 (Cupcake)...there are some illegal copies of Android 2.0 for Galaxy which supports sending files over bluetooth. I hope Samsung'll give us update to Andorid 2.1 after they got it from Google(Google said they'll give all costumers 2.1) @vlaja: there are currenty no free gps programs...hope iGo for Andorid will work on Android 1.5 which is on Galaxy...otherwise we'll have to use illegal 2.0 :) @bobs: music quality is great! you just have to use equalizer and good headphones(included are good too)

Can anyone comment on the firmware updates? I believe there was an update through phone in October, and also an update that someone people have gotten by phoning Samsung customer support and sending their phone to be "repaired". I know of one fix being the lock button now has a set time of 0.5 seconds rather than being fussy between 2-4 seconds depending on the state of of the phone, and the battery life is supposedly as good as originally claimed. Any information would be great, thanks.

I'm quite happy with mine, posting from it now, actually. As soon as the shop I work in got one, I signed up for a contract straight away. The battery life was, at first, appalling. It originally lasted a few hours on standby. After a couple of overnight charges, however, I'm getting a couple of days of good use out of it, including the wifi, bluetooth, and GPS. Everything works pretty much as advertised, for me, but I'm beginning to feel like I have the only good one in the world. Two of my customers have since sent theirs back on warranty for a number of issues such as sifnal strength, battery life, and wifi network discovery. My evidence is obviously anecdotal, and may be subject to a bit of selection bias (maybe its just our shop), so I'd like to hear some other stories, preferably from people in phone shops, about the hardware fault rates others are seeing.

The standby time is realy VERY short. I am sure this is because of software problem. I'd suggested to Sumsung do not put there any shity software and use pure Android. If you do not know create software - do not do it. Do the hardware and Google will do the rest.

I whole heartedly suggest NOT TO BUY this phone. Battery life is disastorous, there are bluetooth issues (only 120 seconds visibility duration!?), you can't send data via bluetooth without some additional application and so on and on. Android itself has some glitches (at least on Samsung Galaxy). Physical lock key is erratic and unreliable. I can't emphasize any positive quality compared to similar mobile phones on the market. Especially at this price range. This is my first Samsung phone and I am very dissappointed. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

the person was asking if it worked with tmobile u.s.a. 3G freq not if it was quad band. tmobile u.s.a. has their own freq (1700)when it comes to 3G internet. An iphone is quad band and can work with tmobile u.s.a. for phone calls but att's 3G freq is a different band so the 3G service would not work. just food for thought.

it does have GPS, just wonder where you read it :) i have Ndrive installed with eastern european and western european maps and just wanted to say never seen such accuracy as on galaxy. btw GPS lock is also quite fast bt not inside the house. i think it locks 12 or 14 sattelites. and dont worry its realy GPS not A-gps which gets your location from transmiting towers from your providers or something about all the negative aspects pointed below yes screen does flicked when you're browsing. battery life isnt that bad when you read some forums and know how to save it. call sound isnt that great but its good enough. camera was better with FF firmware now with H7 i see some blurines. but i think all these points will dealt with in later firmware update. but all i want to say that the phone is amazing and when you download apps it makes it all round machine (currency converter, Navigation apps, office apps, pdf viewer, music, video players (need more codecs), games,facebook, twitter apps and million more)

I only have voice at the moment. I'll pick-up a data plan when T-Mobile is ready. The WiFi works great in the interim. There's no need to wait for T-Mobile. I'm sure they're manipulating release dates to purge their HTC 'myTouch' inventories based on initial market projections, and HTC release agreements. If you're willing to wait, I'm sure you'll get the phone much cheaper under contract, but life is too short - I'm sporting the new i7500 today, and it's turning heads.

hi it does support opera mini,actually im using it write now to post this comment,hehe.its better than normal browser if you want to stop images from loading and stuff.but normal browser on galaxy is also very good. and for guy with google account problems,yes you have to have google account to be able to access android market, calendar. so just create it first time you boot or if you skip then you have to set the phone to factory settings

The phone will be exclusive to o2 for first 4 weeks i work for o2 i know this :) it should be released in next 2 weeks samsung rep could not confirm. As for performance everything is goid but slower than the iphone to open apps etc but only by a few seconds. The main draw back for me is the browser is not as good as iphone. This phone has more freedom and with apps like beeb tv can watch live tv without wifi. If i had to pick this or iphone its still iphone for me as browser keeps it at top spot.

hi to all i see no one here has this phone,but i guess im one of the lucky ones to own it for a week already and all i can say i love it.great design 198mb of ram doesnt affect fone at all as its down to processor but if you open gazillion widgets then it'll slow down but anyway galaxy is very fast and downloaded many apps including compass today wil try Ndrive gps navigation.installed hero keyboard which is way better than stock android keyboard.camera is very good but i think flash has timing problems but i bet it'll be easy to repair with firwmare upgrade.all in all the phone is sooo good especially the AMOLED display.people if you want 2buy it go to ebay.de and wil be lucky as i am to have bought for 320pounds.damn im lucky arent i.if you have any questions ask ill try to reply

I was in an O2 Store in Cambridge yesterday and the very helpful guy there pulled up the details for me and showed me it on screen. Launch date was quoted as week commencing 24 August 2009. The live date (i.e. when they're likely to have stock in store) was quoted as 31 August, but he said that due to the bank holiday next Monday and their delivery schedule that they're likely to have the in store there by maybe Wednesday 2 September 2009. There's obviously still potential for that to change if there's product or supply-chain issues, but that's what the O2 store are expecting.

If you search google for o2 forums then search the forums for "i7500" you will find the thread. People are posting everyday with new information, apprently o2 sent out an email to their shops to say the phone had failed accreditation in the UK. The latest infomation appears to be 24.08.09 release date but everyone appears to be getting conflicting information.

Well I rang so many times now, and usually, whenever I speak with someone, they hadn't heard of it either, but when they check it on the system, the find it and keep saying to me, originally 10th, but still waiting on stock, so can't really say - that being the people on the new customer's department. Forgot to say at least the d900/d600 type front is good old samsung and thats one step in differrentiating not only the android front but its belonging to a typical manufacturer,,even without samsung written on most of us would recognise it as samsung..Anyway its early days but smartfones cant be all the same they have to be designed as much outside as inside(touchflo,vivid mesaging etc)to make it stand out cause the first glimpses of new models are on a computer screen and if its just the same i tend to just ignore it on boredom alone..thanks for listening..

they could have gone full wack with DNSe and other samsung usuals like sonic wellness,,vivid messaging,,tracker,,etc to make it indidvidual to samsung its no good bringing out the same thing over and over again...It used to be in past loyal followers would go for the same make because they liked the system..The biggest customisation was htc and their touchflo which made windows accessible again so i would expect samsung with their homescreen that changed with citys,,vivid messaging etc to custmise android not just bring one out like everyone else does doing exactly the same thing,,WHY,,because its boring,,and well done to SPB in their efforts to reinvent not just copy..

Hi Ewan, Initially, over2 weeks ago now, I rang up O2 UK Customer Services for New Customers, and the said it would be within the first two weeks of August, probably the 10th as it's a Monday. So I went into the O2 store around a week ago to enquire about it, and the sales rep showed me the database of all phones on their system, and it was highlighted as confirmed for the 10th August. So I rang up the shop on the monday morning, and they said they are not stocking until Thursday (tommorrow). HTH.

I would definetly not go with HTC. I've been a loyal customer of theirs for quite some time but it's time for something new. From what I've read the samsung is actually alot better than HTC hardware wise (sorry for being a bit vague on this but I don't remember the details). HTC are also suffering from not having proper support for their phone (if you ever had any problems with an HTC phone you can end up waiting forever before they even get back to you) I don't know about samsung but I'm sure going to give them a try. HTC has dissapointed me. The interface is too slow on their phones. Only thing that I would miss on this phone is a hardware keyboard, but it will be nice to see the display on this one compared to standard LCD displays

so wat? i prefer the multitouch, more ram, more homescreens with more widgets... wats so gr8 about vanilla android and hving a google logo? led flash only makes the slightest difference for taking pictures. its only really noticeable wen its very dark, and u r close to the object u r taking the picture of. under such conditions u still wont be able to properly make out what u took the picture of so its useless.

Having spoke to O2 customer services in the UK they have confirmed that they will be selling the handset and have an arrival date of the 26th July. They cant confirm that it will be available on that date but this is the first specific date for arriving in the UK that has been released.

8gb is not the only advantage. The screen is far more bright while consuming less watt. Samsung has a dsp 256mhz, have u seen how fast it switch between portrait landacape? I7500 is also vanilla android, it has the google logo on the phone. The kamera also have LED flash

i wud rather get htc hero. i mean the only advantages this has is 8gb internal (but both hv microsd expansion, so this isnt really important) and more colorful screen (altho i dont know how many colors android supports so it might be wasted, like putting more than 65k colors on winmo). whereas htc hv put in multitouch, a trackball which is better than a d pad, and more ram. also personally i think the design is better than samsung's which looks a lot like most of their other phones.

Too bad it has all that buttons(menu, back, four direction key, ok) for a touchphone with a decent 3.2 inch display and a fluid OS. Maybe in the future starting with a evolution from android, the phones which will run on this platform have a more stylish, clean design without so many buttons.

The N97 processor is not dual-core, it might be double-threaded. Why are you even comparing the N97 with this Samsung? They're not competing in the same class. Anyways, the N97 is severly hindered by it's operating system (Symbian)

The G1 has a microSD card slot, it is on the left side with the volume control. Open the keyboard and look just above the answer button, there is a little tab, pull it open with your fingernail and you'll see the memory slot.

This will be a game changer for android, The G1 simply cant compete hardware wise with the new iPhone 3G S. I have the G1 and am frustrated by the miniscul amount of internal storage and the inability to expand phone storage to the SD Card, and the Camera is not worth using. and the G2 appears to be more of the same as the G1 hardware wise. I cant wait for this phone in the US, I'm not eleigble for my upgrade but I'm totally getting it as soon as it comes out, and my girlfriend who doesn't know the difference can have my G1.

You are a typical Apple fanboy. Apple only does one device because they want to keep that "it just works" myth they have built up around themselves. With limited hardware permutations of course it's easy to test software for a company that makes 1 device. If you should not like the design or if the design should have inherent technical flaws to bad for you. Apple also does one device because they have an over inflated (and undeserved) sense that they know whats right and everyone should adapt to them and if you dont agree they're the best well then they think you just dont "get it" Android is a more adaptable, more stable OS. The manufacturers who will put out Android phones have a history of making phones that work (anyone remember the lousy phone reception that plagued the first AND second generation iphones, why did it take them three generations to insitutue cut and paste). People who own the iphones are so vehemently screaming it's the best because they have to justify to themselves and others why they spent more money on an inferior product remember "the truth shall set you free"

No fm radio to be downloaded in market, there are internet music streamers tho. I'm sure 2.0 will be avail for all android phones just as 1.5 has been and services work just fine on wifi there are even a few that allow you to sms over wifi. Android is a very nice platform but I think the N97 hardware is far superior to samsung and htc.... hmm, android on a N97 would be hella cool! ;-)

The spec sheet lists no RDS Radio but you mention it on the first page. Update? I like the specs, assuming it has radio the rest is all I need right now, GPS, Wifi, 3.5mm, decent CPU and so on. Unfortunately I don't trust Android to be solid yet.. will probably go with Symbian instead. Dull, dull but reliable.

Please not that Just beacause HTC made the first Android handset, it is in no way connected to the Windows Mobile Platform. Read up on its features via the android fan sites and always remember Android is in direct competition with Windows Mobile, Iphone, Sybian etc. so don't expect them to support each others file formats etc.

Hi, there is no radio for the same reason there isn't one in any Apple product (and Apple don't hype the radio plugin module for the regular iPod). Radio is free - so you don't buy and download tunes - the business model for iPhone OS and Android. Silly tho, because if you're listening to Radio 1 (UK station) and like a tune, you can fire up iTunes or Android player and buy the song - so what gives Sammy? Add a radio, and if the next iPhone is not up to scratch, the i7500 is my next phone. Re video, if the i7500 doesn't do 720p like the excellent camera on the Tocco Ultra 8300, I'm also holding out for the new iPhone or am going to give up and make my own phone...

Nothing out there can kill the IPhone other than a newer IPhone... its simple as that... all other devices are somehow just going to be another device. The IPhone is everywhere and has now become a trademark of Apple as the only phone they produce. Obviously the iphone will always be iphone. Now the samsung i7500: This phone is very feature rich is really cool. Its probably a much better "phone." The Iphone is a great toy but as a phone its probably mediocre. The thing is that this samsung phone will most probably be forgotten in 3-6 months after its out (if it comes out with more HQ phones) because samsung makes so many darn phones. Plus not everyone is going to hear about the Samsung I7500 as much as they've heard about the iphone. Thats just a matter of fact.

This will most likely be my next smartphone because: The design seams solid, clasic, suficiant 3.2 screen size and slim build enabling 1 hand usage. The specs match all the funktions that i value and the camera has been rated to be rather good, which I find important also. It has an on-screen keyboard that insures the most screensize for viewing webpages and movies. I will most likely have to wait to try it in the shop before buying though since the respons and setup of the on-scren keyboard i vital. Competition at this moment is: HTC Magic Sony Ericsson Idou ------------- Htc Magic, has a smarter navigation with more dedicated buttons but the camera is not as good and less MP, the body is thicker, smaler battery, seams more plastic than Samsung I7500, reduced bluetooth support (maybe), and I just prefer the design of Samsung I7500, though i would prefer the coating of the phone to be that of HTC touch HD. -------- Sony E Idou is somewhat thicker, and though packing i high MP camera and a 0.3" larger screen, is running symbian.... :( Though symbian is an acceptable operating system I would not dare buying a phone without the future operating OS "Android". Basically Android just seams so much more advanced, stable and interessting than symbian and winMo, so for me I'm prefering any device with this OS. Also I like Idou, and should the on-screen keyboard show to be much better than Samsung I7500 and should the phone show to have faster aplication respons than that of samsung I7500, this will most likely be my choise in stead. Wonder why Samsung is using the Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz instead of the newer MSM7201A that is in most of the other Android fones. The MSM7201A is smaller, finished in 65nm. The MSM7200A in 90nm. Otherwise specs seem to be the same. Maybe the 7200A is cheaper?

From what I've seen on the net, it will feature a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz processor. That should make it quick enough so there is little or no lag. Just hope we start getting more Apps for Android! Symbian & WinMo (not to mention Apple) have alot more out there but Android is still a young OS. Have to wait & see.

Android is upgradgable. you can find active android forums all over internet to get the latest ROM and flash it to your phone. I have G1 and Android OS is great (I've been a long time user of WinMo). G1 wasn't perfect out of the box, but with few tweaks, the system is running great. I have upgraded the system to 1.5 even before Tmobile releasing the update. As far as Apps freezing/not responding/etc, Android rarely does it. Sometimes we have poorly written Apps from the market that crashes when you open it. As for the OS itself, it is more solidly build than WinMo. No memory leak (like Tmo Wing/HTC herald), screen rotation is smooth and quick, etc. IMO, Android is a better system than WinMo, Symbian, or Blackberry. The downside that I've encounter so far is the high learning curb to be able to do more with the phone. I'm not saying learning curb for normal, daily use of the phone, but more advanced tasks like flashing ROM, using command lines to change the "secret" settings, etc.

I just can't understand why some people compare just incomparable phones??? I mean, phones these days are more sophisticated, with better screens, more colors, more powerful chipsets... and it understandable that they're more fragile for the same reason. I think that this forum should help people choosing their phones and answering serious questions. if somebody has a bad experience with a phone, he/she should write what was wrong with it, could it be fixed or not... but no, u they write - phone sucks!!! i'm guessing either they actually don't own certain phone, or don't know how to use it :D I'm owner of SE now and i'm very satisfied with it. owned a nokia before but id didn't work for me - but all in all it think nokia is a good phone... changed like 10 phones over 3 years but never had samsung. when u buy phone in high class, u can't be wrong - all phones are great - some great, some better. i personally like this phone for few reasons 1. it is samsung in means of quality - generally all samsung products (not just phones) are good 2. i don't like samsung os, but android seems like a better choice than windows 3. it has almost everything smartphone can have - big screen (but not too big, it's still a phone, not pocket pc), wifi, fast data transfer, solid camera, gps... and i specially like 3,5 mm audi jack so u can plug in any earphones and i think its great that it has basic keys as real buttons and not full touchscreen. 4. i like its design - modern and not too bulky i have a question for phone with android owners - does android have a lots of errors like freezing, resenting, problems with app installations, personalizing...? and if anybody knows - if android is all free, would it be able to update android 1.0 to a higher version whet it comes???

I think this phone hit every possible aspects that the HTC failed to include in their Android phones. 1. 3.5mm head-F*ckin-phone Jack. As a long time owner of HTC products (I had Tmo US MDA, Tmo Wing, Dash, and now G1), I still can't grasp why HTC still using microUSB port as audio out/data/power. 2. AMOLED screen is a progress and I'm pretty sure it will catch on to many touchscreen phones in near future. Better durability + requires less power than current LED LCD = longer lasting battery life 3. bigger battery capacity. one of the big complaint for G1 is battery life, and I can say it is true. G1's stock battery is only 1150 mAh, while this phone is 1500 mAh. I barely able to last for 12+ hrs from a full battery without the phone dying, or having less than 10 percent of charge left. 4. Better camera: 5MP autofocus + FLASH !!!. something that HTC should've done when releasing G1. if 5MP sensor too expensive to keep production cost down, they could at least put LED flash for it. I do have some personal issues with the design. No trackball is a let down for me. I love it on my G1. It's like having Blackberry without the crappy, outdated Blackberry OS. The stand-out buttons kind of kill the aesthetic of the phone for me. I like how G1 buttons are flush with the body and has same color. Kinda give that slick look and feel. My last critic would be no actual keyboard. I know it has on-screen keyboard, but no on-screen keys can do better than actual ones. Plus, G1 has one of the best keyboard that I've ever used on a smartphones.

Samsung just amazes me with their accomplishments. The only other phone maker which tries to match their intensity on high end phones is Sony Ericsson. But Samsung is by far the leader of the pack.
