Bootloop is nothing serious. In fact it is a good sign your phone is still alive, and not hardware bricked. All you have to do is reflash a ROM and everything will be ok. what you mean which version of wm to use? wm 6.5.3 is more finger friendly. wm 6.5 is more pen oriented. wm 6.5 is more compatible with apps, although even with wm 6.5.3 you will see very very few incompatible apps. If you mean which language ? then ask yourself. Which is your native language or a laguage want to use ? if a language talked within EU then flash a european ROM. check my posts a little below. if for example talk chinese or arab language then try to find and flash another ROM. This topic will help you with some links too. If other problem, then write another post and i will try to help you.

other people face this problem before you. it was because of their network. not because of their phone. try to use another network's SIM card and i believe your problems will be solved. if not, try to reboot your phone. if fail try to restore to factory defaults. if continue flash latest ROMS (JJ1, JI1). if still problem then your phone may has hardware problem due to some fall etc. p.s.keep your i8000 far from magnetic sources (ex TV or HI-FI speakers etc). experience shows i8000 is very sensitive to external magnetism and it's ROM gets corrupted)

you mean the data network or the calling network ? different solutions. for data network you just have to visit your provider's webpage, find the settings and enter them on your phone. if phone does not recognize calling network you should reinstall your ROM i guess. Which country, which network ?

i hope it is not hardware problem. so since there are no 3rd party apps to fix this problem, and i consider you already rebooted your phone and no fix, then try to backup contacts etc. and restore your phone to factory defaults. if fail try to do hard reset (search i8000 hard reset on google if not know how to do it). if this also fails try to reflash the latest ROM (JJ1 or JI1)- also search flash ROM i8000 if you ignore how to do this- . if all these fail then unfotunately it is must be a hardware problem and you need to go to a service center.

didn't you installed a third party app lately ? maybe some new app caused you the problem. best solution is to backup your phone data and reflash the latest ROM. suggest JI1 (6.5.3)

try to remove your battery if you haven't. then press the power button without battery inside phone as if you want o boot phone after insert battery and try to charge your phone closed. screen should normally react after a few seconds when charger is connected. do not try to boot immediately. wait 3-5 minutes so the battery can be a little charged so can power up something. if all these fail maybe you need a new battery

You should update the whole firmware. choose between JI1 (wm6.5.3)or JJ1 (wm6.5) and phone JJ1. this will solve all your problems. just type i8000 flash on google and follow instructions on modaco or xdaforum etc. You will be pleased with the result.

first try to upgrade your phone's firmware. Even if you have the latest version JI1 (6.5.3) or JJ1 (6.5) maybe something got erased because of magnetism on your ROM (happens often on i8000). So try to reflash the latest ROM. this may solve your problems. About the dust i am suggesting to open and blow your screen and microphone or use some light alcohol liquid and soft cloth to clean it. then close your phone again. Also buy a firm silicon case to protect it from dust. If these do not work try to replace them or replace the phone

Its a steady dots... Service person told its because of dust. I dont know how to avoid those dust. Even service ppl told they cant clean it up.. Because of that I am loosing the visibility, display is not clear in sunlight too.. Can you please suggest me how to avoid that.. You mean blinking or steady dots ? if steady has to do with your screen. Just got to settings and if english is installed (probably is) just select this language and the phone will reboot with your new language. In case (rare) english do not exist, just go here (http://dfiles.eu/folders/J102PNBEO?page=2) and download a new ROM (i suggest I8000NXXJI1), type flash "i8000 ROM" on google etc and flash a new ROM on your phone. Answer to another question is i8000 support micro sd cad up to 32GB, not RS-MMC and of course you can access all your files there.

The WOW HD sound quality is amazingly matchless. I had used many phones before but this feature is the best for music. Camera is good enough. The phone is a bit slippery though. When the phone came out more than 2 years ago, it was one of the best phone available. Samsung is no longer supporting it- No update on its OS is available, even from their web site. Also, Windows Mobile available on this phone is not ideal for use because it is old. Remember, as far as cell phone is concerned, if it is one year old or older, it is "obsolete", although you can still use it. You are better off buying the newest phone available that you can afford. Now, if somebody is giving it to you for free or as a gift, then take it. If you have to spend your money, buy the newest model. Do some research through the internet, then go to your favorite electronic or cell phone store and "play" those cell phones, ask the sales people questions about the phone and then make your decision.

Samsung 4 Life I took my phone to samsung service center(blurred/"mixed" color of the screen). They told me something got "caught" in the LED, like misaligned or not exactly on the right place. To fix it, I have to spend the equivalent of my 5-days salary. That is a lot of money for me and I dont want to spend. Since my phone is 2 1/2 years old already but the other features are still functioning very well, I will keep using it. Maybe, sometime next year, If I have enough money, I'll buy a new one. Thank you Samsung 4 Life. The manual did not help. I will check with the Samsung people if they can help me. Hopefully, they have the answer and if there is, not too expensive. Money is tight nowadays. If it cost too much, I will just keep using the phone. The pictures are blurred but the letters are still quite good and clear. Really best phone which I have...yes, I'm fan of dead WM platform. But few minor bugs are annoying me: 1) GPS - It's terrible!!! I must bought external BT GPS unit and it's excelent now + a little longer battery life (already tried every gps fixing methods, some bring me little help) 2) TV-Out - sound isn't good...there is some noise/crackling sounds. 3) Glossy surface - worse holding in wet hands and fingerprints all the time

You should play it with Gom Player it's awesome. It is free of charge just type it in Google. And if there is still the problem use codecs update the program of Gom Player will offer you the solution don't worry. I bought mine second hand and having a lot of hangs many times of restart so now planing to buy SGS2. I hope it's a good choice.

Well, windows mobile has no flash support, so i don't understand the question. Only youtube videos,with youtube app. Simple as that. It's not samsung's fault, but adobe's wich didn't do it. There are some apps that can play some videos, just google for them. This phone is GSM, but i think there is a CDMA version too.Not sure about it.

Unfortunately that;s samsung policy and it sucks..you can gain some of that memory by flashing a custom rom,an ultralite version.This kind of rom is stripped of useless junk,only system settings and drivers on it.you can install then only the apps you need, on my storage, keeping the main memory free and the phone will be alot faster.With Spb Mobile Shell 3.5.5(i have disabled winmo startmenu) and about 30 apps installed i still have 95mb ram free and 260 mb rom.Not to mention the phone is blazing fast compared to stock rom. About skype, they stopped the support for winmo, but you can still find the app on several places, just google skype windows mobile.

Well, it's not hardware related, i mean,if the speaker would be broken, it wouldn't work at all. Maybe it's an application you installed?Something that messes up the phone? Try to do a hard reset, but first make a back-up of the files you need. About the update from 6.1 to 6.5 and 6.5.3 it can be easily done home my friends. You don't have to be a tech wizz to do it. All it requires a litle attention and patience. It takes about 5 minutes to flash a new software on omnia2.I said it many times here, there are some places on internet(like modaco) where you can learn how to flash the phone.

I do not want to condemn the Omnia just because I`ve sold mine.These will be my last few postings. All phones don`t like water. Once moisture gets into the filmwhere then it will not work well at all. Can it be repaired? It`s got to repaired by someone who really knows what to do. Not by anyone on a trial and error basis! Thats the main reason I will not touch a second hand phone. Anyway stop throwing money, throw the phone and get a new one!

I'm using Samsung Omnia II for past 1.5 years.. I used to get sweat more.. Bcoz of that after 3 months from the purchase it caught up wit Water Log. So, I gave to service center in RS Puram(Cbe), they tld i'll replace and give. They spoiled the calling key and they tld me to pay 1500 rupees. I paid but still the device is not workin properly so i gave it again(next day) in salem they tld that previous service center didnt do the service properly. So i called him and scolded him. Then that person(RS Puram-CoimbatorE service center) spoke wit salem service and they made a deal i think and the mobile has been repaired by salem service center guy and gave.. It worked nicely.. Since the cbe service center person didnt do well, my call button and end button becomes tight and also down the battery he spoiled the cover by heating... He dont knw hw to service. Last month my touch didnt work well.. Its started malfunctioning.. I gve to service in cbe another center they are tellin it ll cost around 800 rupees to change but he is not telling clearly.. Again i gave it to salem before 3 weeks they are tellin 4000 rupees. touch have to replace and board.. Once mobile gets prob really its torturing.. better keep the mobile carefully...

I think you have hit one of Omnia`s classic problems. It a common soft wear fault. If it`s under warranty, take it Samsung`s service centre. If not, I`m afraid you might have to bin it. Don`t waste any more money trying to repair it. The repair will only be temporary and it will give you one problem after another.

Not a fanboy, but through my hands passed alot of devices. Hp, HtC, samsung, nokia, toshiba,motorola, lg, apple...you name it. i got stuck on samsung, but none of them are perfect. Firt impression is wow, but when you start the daily usage, you find it's not the device you expected.And if you're not willing to do a litle tuning,you'll remain with the bitter taste. I said many times, it's a general market strategy...release a new gadget..make impression...but leave some bugs on it...release a new one, remove some of the old bugs, but let new ones..this way they get the chance to take your money :).

Sorry to hear that. It may sound strange, but i'm more than ever satifsied with my omnia 2. I finally made the perfect combination between performance and battery, with eye candy too. Also with lot of free memory(75mb after all apps/games installed). I made an ultra lite rom, wich is blazing fast, removed all samsung crap, installed only the ones i need and use. In the end...installed spb shell with an addon and the result is amazing. There are 2 things that bother me, but i can live without it :) 1.The lack of flash support and proper 3d drivers(omnia 2 can do much more, the hardware allows it) 2. All developers kinda dropped support for windows mobile.No latest games, but again,i can live without those.For proper gaming i'm using my galaxy. But for e-mail, browsing, even instant messaging i'm still using my omnia2. Galaxy makes great pictures/movies on daylight, but for nightshots i'm using omnia :P. Like i said, i'm sticking with my o2 for a long time..i think this phone will "retire" from my hands :).

Yeah man, I just sold mine. After a year, I just could not stand the freeze and poor internet browsing. I`m not tech savvy, so could not tweak it for better performance. There were some who tried the tweak and faced other problems. Finally when important data got lost from my storage, that was the final straw.

Yes,it's the same thing. I repeat, it will only erase the internal memory(main memory), not My storage(2/8/16 gb) or Storage card. Another way to hard reset the omnia is to type on phone dialer this code : *2767*3855# Good luck. I see less activity around here....this means you guys don't have your phones anymore?...Too bad..i still have mine..and it's working like a cham :P

Unfortunately you have to make a hard-reset from button combination. This means you will lose everything on the phone memory. To hard-reset the phone 1. Turn it off. 2. Then use the button combination. The combination is : volup+lock + call + hang up buttons A menu will appear, format and cancel. Pres call for format and that's it. But this will revertyour phone to factory settings and erase everything only on MAIN STORAGE, not MY STORAGE. your call.

Well my friend, you just peeled off the touch of your phone. This means you have to buy a new one. The touch itself is not much, you find on ebay for about 15$. The replacement is not too hard, but you have to be careful. Better do it on a service. This is all i can tell you, your problem is hardware related, not software. Take care.

lol...i'm from romania too....where did you find o2 with 80 euros?this means the phone is real beat down:)..the touch is ok, you can't compare with a capacitive display, but with the proper rom and tweaks, its great. about galaxy s2...i had the priviledge to play with it for about 3 days(i have a friend who is tester on a company)...all i can say is this : atrix is better.the only + for sgs2 is the bigger display(if you like that) and the cpu(but you can overclock atrix easy). Atrix has better display resolution(qhd), better gpu (tegra2 beats mali), bigger battery. Not to mention the accesories wich comes with atrix :) and the price. Anyway, i advice to wait a litle longer.A next generation of dual-core is coming...with better graphics.I know it from a litle birdie:P.

Thanks for the info.....I'm buying one SH with around 80� and I'm gonna keep for 2-3months until the hype of Galaxy2 release in Romania(may or beginning of june) is gone so I can get one at a decent price.....Sold my Galaxy because I anticipated that with the release of G2 it's price will go down sharply....But I still have expectations even if I'm keeping it for a short while...Forgot to ask you....how responsive the touch is....meaning....can I operate the phone easily without the stylus....and how long the battery lasts with moderate usage(30 min call,30min browsing daily)...... @asur. the overall build quality is good.it's a solid and funtional phone,the only thing that bothers me is that you have to remove the back side to gain acces to microsd slot.it makes more than decent photos,even in the dsrk.the flash is trully blinding.but dont expect to have a professional camera.same with the videos.audio playback is ok, loud and clear.wm 6.5 is good,but there are official 6.5.3 releases too.i tried many before realising best is 6.5.3.i must remind you...with official roms you wont have acces to all ram memory.samsung made a crappy job.not to mention the memory leaks.this is for all winmo based devices.you have to restart your phone from time to time.with my custom rom i reset it once a week.with official...3-4 times a week.anyway..i still recommend this phone but only if it's cheap.meaning max 250$.its a decent price for a decent phone.i also have a galaxy s.but i don.t intend to sell my omnia.i just love it too much.dont forget one thing.all phones have qualities and flaws.the best is the one you like and afford.it doesnt matter what me or others say.good luck

OMG for the first month when i was using this phone it goes so smooth even i switch on my phone, its so fast. after that, it slow down tremendously! (i never install anything) then the notifying at the left corner bottom is so annoying! when there are messages, you have to 'dismiss' all message then only you could see the word 'call'... imagine when its urgent.. besides, it goes 'hanged' when i press into the message inbox... the only thing is good was the battery!

@jihadi ...if you had your pictures on My storage/Storage Card, you can try to recover with any Data/File recovery software.There are alot of them. Try "Recover My Files", but it's not free.You are a smart man, figure out a solution ;). @Icecube. All free games really suck. About themes, omnia 2 is not like an average phone. Winmo does not allow much customization like other OS. Usually, a winmo theme involves a laggy phone after.Omnia2 is not quite made for eye candy, it;s made for functionality and others.

1. I said many times, ANDROID FOR OMNIA2 IS IN BETA PHASE.Some features work, some don't.So,if you want to try, just look on modaco or xda forums. 2.Windroid ROM is NOT ANDROID. It's a windos mobile rom,with android icons.Don't try it.Your phone will move like crap. 3. About battery drain, tell me what rom are you using.If you are on stock rom, open task manager and see what applications are opened and close them 4.What memory is full, Main Storage? If this is the part that;s full, uninstall the apps you don't need.Or use a program like pocket mechanic to move installed apps onto My storage. If My storage is full, just connect the phone to pc and move the things you need :).Same with storage card. 5.As far as i know Microsoft never developed Silverlight for winmo, only windows phone. But again, a litle google is too hard. Peace

Not sure about it(never used a mac before), but maybe mac is using a different indexing system than windows. Try to copy your pictures on a windows system,do the format and put them back.

Help..! I can't view my pictures in Photo..!! After I pluck it into my mac, transfer my pix files, format My Storage then transfer the files back into My Storage, I can't view my pix in Photo... I check that all the files are in File Explorer and can only open them there but not at Photo.. When I click at Photo, it show just a blank page... Got no problem with music files tho.. All you have to do is to flash a lite/ultralite rom.Samsungs(and not only) has a bad habbit, in installing many useless apps on their official roms, apps wich most of the owners will never use. A lite/ulite rom is a rom without many of those useless apps.This means more free RAM and ROM. Flashing procedure is not that complicated, but it requires attention.Don't ask wich is the best custom rom, because i won't say.There are alot of them, and i tried only a couple of them, until creating my own. Also, don't ask to release my rom,because i won't either.I had cooked in alot of sharware license applications, so it would be illegal, not to mention i will lose those licenses I advice to go on modaco(yes, again modaco) to learn yourself on how this can be done. Depends on you what you want from your omnia, eye-candy,good looks,but moving like crap, or a balanced looks-performance one. Good luck.

The Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate sometime is too sensitive, is there any way to better control it..? The Calibration in the Motion setting might has something to do with it. Anyone know the different setting to control the sensor..?

About Adroid on omnia, yeah, it would be great to have a full version. There are some guys on modaco who are trying to break the bootloader code.This means we'll have only android on omnia.No dual boot.But it will take some time. Although now i spend alot of time for Galaxy S,omnia 2 remains one of the best smartphones i ever used.I still try some tweaks and stuff, just for fun.It appears samsung dropped a litle to early the support for omnia 2, but i can understand why...first of all, they launched BaDa OS, many android models and it takes alot of time to give proper support for all devices. Unfortunately,this is for all producers.Android is still too fragmented.This the main advantage for Apple.

Hmm...what do you mean by external? External is a micro sd card.If you mean My Storage, that's also internal and the 16 gb versions of omnia 2 is known for the "dissapearing" memory. Your problem might be software related. Try to set the phone on usb storage mode, connect it to pc and see what it's detecting. anyway, this is a solution try it. it worked for many.

I'm using the same procedure shown on modaco.Anyway,i kinda dropped the working for omnia2, since i also have a galaxy s. If samsung releases a new rom for omnia i will try to see what is new, but until then i will try to improve my sgs :).

@kam. We are not allowed to talk warez/torrents here. That's why i tell to all of you to contact me on email. @fadz. The procedure is the same. Download the rom and octans downloader.Again, for mr "anonymous", kies won't see the latest update for any phone if it's not released in your country. So again, stupid comment.That's why i never used it. With octans flash the new rom. Depending on your pc operating system, you may require to install additional drivers.Remember to look on modaco about the flashing. good luck

Butch my friend, i never updated my omnia via KIES or NPS. All you need is a good rom and octans downloader. Trust me,samsung uses the same procedure:)(with octans, but on higher scale). Just google modaco i8000 and you will find the best community for omnia 2. Try it.

I don't use official roms.I create mine and it's working great. Using the I8000NXXJI1 PDA, with JJ1 eboot, JI1 PRO csc and JJ1 Phone. I repeat, it's an ultralite rom(most of default samsung apps are removed,including start menu).This way i have 123 mb ram and 330 mb rom free at boot.After installing all apps i need(Spb mobile shell, resco file explorer, office 2010, UCBrowser and Opera mobile 10, resco photo manager,adoble flashlite 3.1,netcf 3.7.8,youtube,palringo messenger, Sktools,s2u2,a few tweaks and about 10-12 games-mostly strategies) i have 80-85 mb ram free and about 280 mb rom. So,i say yea, o2 rocks. Improved and updated drivers, super smooth, no lag.The only thing that really sucks is the lack of flash for windows mobile and the fact samsung dropped the support for winmo devices.

Is 6.5.3 a official rom or just a cookup rom. using kies return with a negative update and apparantly not as simply n straight forward as u mentioned in your earlier post, worst of all samsung company is not aware of any so call 6.5.3 and would not repair the bricked phone if attempt to upgrade to this unofficial version even if still with warranty as it is illegal upgrade. Any comment. Also if the country that has not have the official 6.5.3 u will get a very efficient touch screen phone that cannot be used as a phone as th local telo has problems with 6.5.3 google this and you will read about this problems. So like u say a omnia II sucks without 6.5.3 BTW omnia II user be honest here and tell me when was the last update you have for your phone. Samsung has pulled its resorces to making android samsung phone and omnia II users are left to fend for themself no further upgrade is coming and soon omnia II will just die of old age. Those considering to purchase this phone best of luck this situation is not just with samsung but other brand too. final words before I die too. this was a great phone but all good things comes to an end. How much different or better is the 8000 omnia compared to an 8000 jet? To me theyre exactly the same. The only difference Ive noticed is the omnia is about $200 more than the jet. Is it really worth $200 more? I dont think so. Id rather buy a 8500 wave which is selling for about the same price as the omnia which has far superior features than the omnia.

Not a fanboy, but a true connaiseur of o2.Already replied about the touch quality.Don't forget this is a resistive display, so you have to "feel"the touch.This doesn't mean you have to press it hard. It takes a litle to get usesd with it. with older roms, i have only 2 words: it sucks.Older roms mean wm 6.1. With newer 6.5 and .6.5.3(especially 6.5.3.) the touch quality is greatly improved, is fast, smooth, almost as it should've been from the start.

With older roms it has quite a bad touch.But with latest 6.5 or 6.5.3 roms all things are improved. And if you flash a custom rom,it will fly. I recommend at least NXXJH1/JH2 roms.JH1 is 6.5,JH2 is 6.5.3

i had same prob before. i cant hear callers voice or sms tone. The problem solved when i put the samsung headset (microphone) into the 3.5 audio jack.. choose headset and press ok, and then pull out the jack again. hope it works for your Omnia

Not such a good phone. You can make a few tweaks, but you'll get max 70 MB free RAM after restart, so from 256 MB ram advertised, more than half is reserved and you cannot use it. Plenty of bugs, no official updates .. etc. You can use lite ROM's, but they are buggy ..

Are you interested only in android UI or android OS. There is an android UI for o2 and the android os is in beta phase.I can tell you the UI is not as smooth as i would like, it's laggy, but it does the trick.

This is the WORST PHONE EVER! Windows Operating system is CRAPPY. The only thing this thing did was give me a very expensive MP3 Player. the MS Office Mobile is just crap. Games are also crappy, apps are crappy. If you are planning on purchasing this phone. I'd advice you to go for iPhone4 or BB. Coz samsung is turning sh!t when it comes to phones. I mean, cmon man! Applications arent good at all. Games, apps, are crap. CRAP I tell you.. And it's not really built for personal use. I mean, It doesn't have a TWITTER, TUMBLR APP. Facebook app is shit. Are you sure you have installed all the drivers?Meaning samsung modem driver and cdma driver? This way the phone willbe recognised as modem and you'll be able to connect through it.

Dear Lawrence, Yes I already used the "Internet sharing" as instructed in the mannual the phone connects to internet but the PC can't connect internet via the phone, it repots "limit access". Before I used Samsung Omnia, it worked. the same procedure made with this O2 but it doesn't work

You can do this 2ways : 1. If you have stock rom, just go to samsung site, download and install KIES and voila. In about 30 minutes you have a new firmware. 2.If your rom is custom, you will need Octans,rom parts and drivers fitting your SO. For second solution go to modaco.com. Can any help me? My O II can't be used as a modem to PC. It well connects to internet that I can surf various website very fast. However, while use it as a modem to PC via internet sharing, (I connect it via USB) the phone connects to the internet but the PC can't. Does anyone know what wrong?

You can't compare them.Although both have similar specs,omnia hd is symbian based,while omnia 2 is winmo based.Out of the box, omnia hd i could say is better, but symbian has it's limitations. Winmo,on the other hand, allows customization and you can do pretty much what you want with it.Not to mention the apps available for them. If you want just a phone, buy the hd, if you want true smartphone and you like looking around, gofo o2. it's a win-win situation.

I have this phone for about 4 months and the only thing that pisses me of is that GPS can't function without GSM signal (ie. no sim card/no gsm communication/disabled). I tried different settings in the hidden application, Nogarder GPS, but no effect. Even if I set Standalone Operation (not using A-GPS) the GPS is not working. This is frustrating, Samsung!!! Please, fix the firmware!!! Otherwise, is the best Windows Mobile phone I have ever had (and I had many), one of the latest greatest WM6.5 monsters, until that stupidity called Windows Phone surfaced out.

I bought this mobile as soon as it was released in India.After about 10 months, its audio jack failed to function properly. Many times it routed the audio to headset on its own. I gave it to the service centre and waiting for the phone for more than three months. Service centre people have so many useless answers but have given my phone back. I have contacted samsung officials from Delhi to Chennai to Puducherry to......service manager... technicians... but in vain. I am ashamed of Samsung, its aftersale service, customer care....Irresponsible Cheaters.... I may have bought a new mobile for the expenditures I met for making calls and visiting service centre.

I find accuracy acceptable, but sensivity rather low. Many times after opening a page on the a website,the sub pages are very difficult to open. Infact I`d say I`ve only had roughly 50% success in opening the sub pages. I`ll calibrate the screen and see if that works.

I won't reconsider. Like i said, i'm not working for samsung. There are some people here who know me(2 from philippines,1 from saudi arabia) and can confirm i don't work for samsung. In fact,i'm a military police officer in Romania. So, still to say stupid things like that,although i said many times the contrary..well..it's just lame and shows the limitations of some of you. I'd like to work for samsung, the money wouldn't hurt. But, since i'm doing this on my free time, i don't have any obligation to you. And if you don't respect the things i do, what's the point on continuing? @ Henk. Never claimed i can fix ANY phone.I said MOST of the problems can be fixed, if they are software related. If it's hardware, well....i'm not a gsm service.I can't give a "diagnosys" until i don't know all the details. Loosing signal...not so detailed...maybe it's the area you live in, maybe the signal there is too weak,it could be the gsm receiver on your phone...it could be anything.By flashing a newer software,improved, maybe you will ahve a stronger receiver. MAYBE. @ Anrey_C...yeah..you're 100% right. I think this will be my last post here. I'm getting really tired to explain same things over and over, just because you and others are just LAZY. It's so hard to use a simple search function here, not to mention the mighty GOOGLE. Hello Lawrence, still on you claim that you can fix any phone. I still have the problem of loosing signal. It seems that after experiencing weak signal for some time the device just gives up and then doesn't reconnect when signeal is available again. You responded that is could be hardware or software. How do I establish which one?

Nope. For ringtones only .wav files in /windows folder. But wm 6.5.3 has great tones for notifications and alarm.I love them :P.

@newuser- Rom = operating system with all parts Eboot-similar to bios, Pda.bin - the windows itself CSC-custom setings like network,sms/mms etc phone.bin - gsm settgins,gps etc Main memory or ROM memory is the internal storage of any phone.It's like partition C from a hard disk,where all the programs are installed by default.Main memory is placed on the mainboard of the phone. My storage is also internal memory,but like other partition than C,also placed on mainboard. If you insert a microSD you will have a third partition, Storage card. Hope this explanation was good.

For hard reset shut down the phone.Then press Lock Button+Upper Volume key+ignore key+accept key.Don't release until a meniu will appear.then press accept key and that's it. It will erase only Device memory(main memory) not my storage or storage card.

Dear friends, I am using Samsung Omnia 2 for over one year now and I find it as the greatest phone I ever had. I usually get bored of all my phones in less then half year. This one I dropped it in water, I fixed it, it has scratches on the display but I still keep it as I love it a lot. I installed the SPB home-screen on it and it really Kicks ass. Go for it, you will not regret it!

Hi Lawrence, mine is build 21876. How do I load the latest? If not iPhone as alternative, which one then? I'd hardly go for Samsung again as I firstly had the terrible Omnia (I), then had that replaced twice by Samsung South Africa, the 2nd time went better as that was with the Omnia II. Now the trouble is starting again.. I tried resetting it yesterday with the reset bottom inside the rear cover. THis seemd to soft reset it. How do I hard reset it?

The talk and the browsing are for a day :), not for all 3 :). Without browsing,only in gsm, it lasted 5 days.

If it is software related, it can be fixed by flashing a new rom, including phone.bin. If it's hardware, only a service/waranty can do it. And you didn't choose the right model to replace omnia :)..just google about iphone 4 loosing signal strength when you keep in your hand :). So, i recommend a rom like this : WM 6.5.3 build 23103 NXXJI1 pda.bin NXXJI1PRO.csc NXXJJ1 Phone.bin Best combination ever. I'm using this build, ultralite and i have stable signal,fast gps lock(15-30 seconds with IGO 8), 3 days battery life(30 minutes talk and 1.5-2hrs browsing). I think it's more than decent. True, if i play games, watch movies..the battery drains in 1 day. but tell me what device doesn't.

If you can fix any problem, I'd be most happy if you can help me with my Omnia II trouble. Mine seems to loose signal. The signal bar will then show 3 or 4 bars of signal, but no calls are received and when trying to make a call, it displays a message that the signal has been lost or is not available. The remedy is then to switch the phone off and on. I am missing a lot of imporant calls through this and I'm starting to consider swapping it for a iPhone4 if I cannot resolve this.

About the ringtone issue,there is the option you mentioned.I gave the all time solution,to save device memory. Maybe YOU need to play with the phone before making an opinion. I'm talking from my own experience,can you say that ?

:)).Yeah..call it LAWMNIA :))..kidding... Don't get me wrong, i know there are problems with this phone, but i can fix most of them. Same issues are WITH ALL. Don't think for a minute that APPLE,HTC,MOTO,NOKIA or any other producer make perfect devices. I had my share of mobile world(HP,HTC,LG,NOKIA,Motorola smartphones) and i've chosen to stick with o2 for many reasons.I said a million times, don't expect a smartphone to think for you.

Wanted an was interested to get this phone but changed my mind fter reading what LAWRENCE had posted.....This is indeed no brainer's phone an Samssung should be ashame to realeasd a unfinished product an should renme this phone to LAWRENCEXXXX or something caused Samsung instruction menu and phone function sucks. Imagine to set ringtone, in other phon just press option...set as ringtone...thats it....this stupid phone got to crete a ringtone folder then it can read from this folder.....BIG TIME STUPID PHONE better off not buy this stupid phone. Hi, i'm glad you think that, but i'm a mear user.No genious or something like that. I recommend wm 6.5.3 custom roms on omnia2.The advantages are too many to list them here. I'll tell you only this:more free ram,finger friendly, faster gps lock, improved battery life,updated drivers(some made by users), posibility to customize the rom the way you like.

for anyone who wants to upgrade wm from 6.1 to 6.5, u just download KIES from Samsung Applications, install it in ur pc, then connect ur i8000 to pc via usb. launch kies then click firmware update. the download process take about 2 or 3 hrs. then follow the upgrade instruction. I just upgraded my I8000 today from 6.1 to 6.5. but I don't know where I can upgrade to 6.5.3. cheers

NO.Don't even try. They are not compatible.I advise to forget what have you learned about i900 roms. I had a litle shock when i moved to i8000. These 2 devices have only the name in common.The rest is different. First of all,the display resolution. i900 is qvga, omnia 2 is wvga, double. Memory management is different.I won't get into technical details.

To set any mp3 as ringtone, just create a folder My Ringtones on my storage and put all your ringtones there.That's it. When you want to setup a new ringtone the phone will read that folder. Good luck.

thx lonesomeguy...iam going to but hd2 because of its touch...i know that omnia 2 have best display, camera ,colours,sound.....but the point which iam afraid from i8000 is the life time of the resestive touch screen (i900 max 4 or 5 monthes and gets sucks)...i notice that its about 4 monthes and the screen corners gets usless and the accurecy gets bad...althought replacing its touch,,,i will buy i8000 and i wish its touch never lose its accurecy and performance like the 1st time i will got...i hope it will be good at least 1 year :) thxxx all and sorry for my english

Hi my friend i have omnia2 for two weeks. when i wanted to buy it,i was afriad of its resisitive touch.i search many times i should tell you that its touch is more powerful than all of the resistive touch,even i used HTC touch pro but its really better than HTC touch pro. omnia2's touch is between capacitive and usual resistive so dont worry but i must tell you its 800 MHz CPU is not really 800Mhz its about 680 Mhz finally its a good smartphone have a nice time

Hey Sara. Omnia2 is better in every way than omnia 1. I never had touchscreen issues, and i have my omnia 2 for 6 months now. Before it, guess what, i had an omnia 1. Now, about the bugs and issues,yes there are, but most of them can be solved by installing a custom rom. I won't explain again Samsung's(in fact ALL PRODUCERS) stragey.It's bad for business to create the perfect device. Just improve a litle the previous one, fix some bugs, but create others.Overall, o2 is a great device.

This can only be fixed on a service. If you have warranty, it will be fixed for free. If you don't...unfortunately there is nothing to be done. The memory is too expensive. Buy a memory card. Anyway, all your data is lost.

LOL. Who the hell installs antivirus on a mobile device?:) The path i gave you was correct. You should have a "remove programs" button. If not, try to go on samsung settings-memory settings-main storage. All programs you have installed are there. Just press on Delete.

No. I'm not a fan of o2, i'm a owner and a user of it. If you don't know what a fanboy is, it's a person who worships his thing, always saying it's the best, there is no other like it, and, most important, won't even consider talking about other, almost like a religion.That's an apple fanboy,iphone and the rest of the world.Now,I didn't bought it because it was a bling bling, i bought it to use it(i edit office documents, the gps is really usefull, i have a data plan for internet-not waiting to get to wireless hot-spots,i do listen some music on it, sometimes watch videos). OH, "almost forgot" : i talk alot on it.But the best reason to buy it was THE PRICE(about 130 Euros). I will never pay 700-800 euros for an iphone or any other device, just because the rest of the world did. For example, i could buy anytime a samsung SGS with 129 euros on Orange Romania(redeem, not new plan). But i'm not changing my o2 soon. It fits me just well. About your "problem" :) : go to settings - system- remove programs.:). Search for a registry cleaner, like Pocket mechanic professional sau dinarsoft memmaid.It really helps. Good luck.

If you have stock rom, i guess it's the same way you upgraded to 6.5. If you want a custom rom, you need to flash it.It's complicated to explain here, but the procedure it's easy and simple. Just look on modaco.com on i8000 section. There is a video tutorial on flashing.

Ask around, i've helped some people to change the roms to 6.5.3 on their O2's. Fast, stable,great touch response, 90% of the time you don't need a stylus..etc. Even battery life is improved.So, o2 is not a lost cause. I wanted to buy a Galaxy S, but i'm gonna stick with o2 for now :).I've realised something. ALL mobile producers have a strategy : when releasing a new model, they fix some of the old bugs, but let new ones appear :). This way they make you buy the next device :).SO, with the improvements i made, i can easily compare my omnia 2 with a 3gs, with the advantage on my omnia. WHY? Biger and Better display, better camera, bigger storage, a software that allows customization far way easier than iOS(without a jailbreak you cant even send a file via bluetooth). True, if you are a fanboy and you want bling bling you will buy iphone because of all it's "magicool" features like: pinch and zoom(but you need both hands for that, while on my omnia2 i can do the same by double tap, with 1 finger,much handy), "multitouch" - o2 can do that too, but samsung didn't developed that. There is a free app that proves multitouch on it.I wanna see an iphone owner do a hand writing on it's device.

im using omnia 1 for atleast a year and as of now its practically impressive specially in downloading mp3s,videos and other related files via wifi,its quite fast and the battery is impressive 2!! but if ur a choosy one here it is>> no 3.5 jack,poor camera even at 5Mpixel,a large screen(3.2)but with just 65K colors,images taken with my SE k810i w/ 3.2MP cam 65K colors is far more better than dis smartphone,and i cant even justify the flash,is it really a flash or flashlight for searching dropped items?4me its a downgrade for a v6.1 windows phone with low imaging capabilities!the hel i bought it P24,000(555dollars)

You make me laugh :). Gps lock in 15 seconds. The amoled screen is better even than the iphone 3gs in the sunlight :). You cant compare LCD or even S-LCD with AMOLED an S-AMOLED. Samsung makes the best displays for mobile devices. About the other functions...i can customize my omnia to look/feel/work as i want.

The HTC Blackstone is not only better than Omnia2 playing and video recording, at rest, the Omnia2 sucks, GPS is horrible in Omnia2, 3D drivers are not functioning well, and the OLED screen under the sunlight is ridiculous, if you want a decent phone, buy an high-end HTC, will not regret it, and stay away from the OLED screens are awful in the intense sunlight. I had a Omnia2, I now have a Blackstone, The Omnia2 is disappointing compared to Blackstone. Excuse me for my ridiculous english, it's a Google translation, I'm Brazilian. I Love Brazil!

updates resolves problems and issues that the manufacturer haven't possibly noticed nor determined while on the process of testing the device before they brought it to the market,so they must and have updates to improve them and they can probably eliminate these problems on their next release of mobile phones

Another thing,maybe you haven't noticed, but nokia is left behind my friend. it's easy to have N models with same operating system(symbian for nokia) and to make updates for it. but, samsung has models with symbian, android, wm, wp7 and BADA os. It's a nightmare to keep al this os's up to date. Not to mention releasing new models...besides, i said before, if they would make the perfect device, what would they sell after ???how can you improve the perfect device?

Android and wp7 devices have capacitive touchscreens(galaxy,omnia7 etc). So samsung makes these devices, only wm 2003, 5, 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.3 don't support capacitive features(pinch and zoom, multitouch etc).

I purchased one Samsung I800 Omnia II from Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on November 12. It not possible to try the phone in the the shop as it was over-crowded. I don't find it as user-friendly as my other phones (Nokia, Samsung etc). May be it was better if I would purchase something else.

im so loving my omnia 2..! but 4 months ago my 16gb built in storage is gone. had to send it to samsung tech, they said they need to replaced something on my phone. after 2 weeks of waiting for that chip to arrive, finally my storage is back. BUT just few days ago, again my 16gb storage is gone. i did evrything to bring it back (modaco.com) but still i cant do anything but to send it back to service center. it happened 2x already, almost evry 3 months. ive heard theres something wrong with their 16gb version, i had omnia i9000 before, same issue. now i got omnia 1 and 2 without internal storage. my advice, pls get the 8gb guys.. hope this helps. anyway, how many times do i need to send my phone back to service center until they'll replace it? anybody knows?

About wp7, i wouldnt go for it now. Maybe in a year or so. I will never go for wm7. they took some of job's marketing strategy(no bt file transfer, no expandable storage etc). Not to mention its buggy. wp7 is only at its beggining. Android seems ok. Free, alot of apps, a great support community. Like i said before, for me, the final reason to go for omnia2(besides its great features) was the price. A similar android device has double the price.

Do the hard reset 2-3 times. If the issue still persists, try flashing a new rom. Now, an advice for those who want TF3D, TF or SENSE on omnia2 : DON'T. HTC devices have qualcomm CPU's and the UI's are optimized for them. O2 has ARM CPU, with different opengl drivers and it won't work correctly. Best example : ht touch pro has 360 mhz CPU and sense runs smooth on it. o2 has 800 mhz cpu and you need to overclock it in order to run it, but still it not runs as smooth like on htc. If you want HTC UI, go for htc devices. Don't mess up o2 :).

for screen, go to samsung settings-screen-baclight time and choose the setting you want. for the storage issue go to a service. it's hard to explain what to do to someone who doesn't know technical stuff.best thing for you is to go for a service.

If you didn't made a backup before messing up the registry, only a hard reset will revert the changes. this will erase only phone memory, not my storage or storage card.this means you will also have to install all your apps again. If you don;t want to do this, contact me on email, tell where did you made the changes, and i will give you my settins. cant think of other solutions now. take care.

Let's take step by step. Winmo has 65k colours by default. But samsung, with AMOLED made the difference for winmo devices. Anyway, human eye can't sense the difference between 65k and 16 mil. About S8500, true, it moves alot faster than omnia 2. In fact, is one of the fastest devices regarding touchscreen, great camera, impressive display. BUT: i actually don't know much about BADA OS. You won't find many apps for it, like you will find for winmo or android. And o2 has bigger display, a known OS(true,it has some issues,but most of them can be solved), many apps(i don't think there is an app you can't find for it). The choice is only yours.

good news to all omnia2 users. if you want a fast charger to charge ur omnia2, you can use psp-charger just attach adaptor to it and voila. it works fine w/ my unit and fully charged my omnia2 in just 2-hrs. you can try. if you want proof give me ur e-mail add and i will send to u the pics of my new invention.

@raz. My friend, you can't compare these devices. Totally different SO's different hardware, etc. I won't tell you to buy omnia, but i will tell you NOT to buy symbian devices. Not as customiseble like winmo or android.

@fadz, my friend, i never use stock roms. In my custom rom samsung widget and samsung today are removed, with alot other things :). how do you think i have 340 mb rom and 108 mb ram at boot? :). After installing all my apps, i still have about 85 mb ram free and 290 mb rom. @lonesomeguy. Wave moves faster, has better screen, but the SO is a drawback, you won't have as many aps like you have for winmo. I would consider look for android devices too. My opinion, the price is the final argument. I got my omnia for about 120 euro(used, but in great condition). omnia 2 is not obsolete. not yet.

To: Lawrence, I think i found the apps which creating memory leak on this phone, the samsung widgetPlus. Now i am using "windows default" as my today screen and so far no memory loss whatsoever. it used to when i soft reset my phone with Samsung widgetplus as my today screen, i only get 55mb free program RAM after. but this time with windows default, i even get 59mb free program ram all the time.

i think Omnia 2 is much better than Htc HD2. dont you wanna watch film in better quality? omnia is Amoled and 16 milion colors but HD2 65000. and HD2 is TFT. i think only Omnia's problem is its resisitive touch.

What's the price for both?I would recommend HD2, more ram, faster cpu, bigger display. But omnia2 is cheaper, has one of the best displays around, it's more easy to handle, better camera. Both have problems. I suggest you try them and see what is best for you.I played around with an hd2 and it's just too big:). It's like having a book in hand all the time. At least it felt that way for me. If you like carrying it, go for hd2.

lol. you don't have to insert sticks in holes :)). Just press red button until it turns off. then press again same button to turn on. Besides, there are a few apps that allow to soft reset :). @skyjack you're welcome. Clad i could help.

There's supposed to be a hole at the back of the phone, when you remove the back cover. The hole should perfectly fit the tip of the stylus that came with phone.

Newer versions come with 6.5. Older 6.1 versions are quite sluggish indeed. But it's easy to make an update/flash to 6.5.3. This firmware really gets omnia 2 :P. I said many times, omnia 2 is not the perfect device, it has it's issues. about 98% of them can be solved. But problems have ALL devices, just look on dedicated forums and see the owners talk about their phones. O2 is a fine piece of hardware, you can find all the apps you need for it, but it's drawn back by to important things: the lack of a proper opengl driver(there is ginkage and chainfire driver, wich good, but not official) and the memory leak. In time(for me it's 1 time a week) i have to soft reset my phone to regain some of the ram. that's it. but it takes great pictures, great display, fast gps lock, clean&loud sound, movies play in crystal clear, enough storage, great touch response(at least in my 6.5.3 custom rom). Another thing, don't want to offend anyone, but to own a device la O2(and not only), you need to have some knowledge.it's not like a regular gsm phone,where you only had green and red button. So, think twice before getting one. Look on the internet, try talking with other owners, go to a shop and try it, learn as much as you can about it and see if it's the device for you. Don't spend some money just to say it's a stupid device, like others did.Good luck.

I install skype mobile each time i flash my phone and it works. the trick is this...first time let it try until you get an error, but second time it connects in max 10 second. It's working fine on my omnia, if you don't believe i can always make a demo. Another nice voip app is talkonaut. you can make voice call on many IM networks for free, but it's not supporting skype. i'm using it for yahoo messenger. works great, and voip calls are cheaper than skype's. give it a try. an advice, don't buy symbian devices...if you don't like wm, go for android.go for the future, not the past. symbian is quite heavy, quite limited, and the lack of many apps it makes it obsolete. i know what i'm talking about.

You will not be able to download Skype for WM. Skype has stopped it`s WM support and has officially announced it. However Skype on existing WM phones will continue to work. If any of your friend has got WM phone( any mobile with WM OS) you can Bluetooth it to your Omina 2. I did this on my Omnia 2 and it works fine.

What do you mean?like an optical mouse or a joystick? no. it doesn't have this feature. omnia 1 has it, but only on stock roms. most of custom builders removed it. For application site contact me on email. you will find it a few pages back. About overheating, it's hardware indeed. I'm using my o2 alot and i can't say it does this. Even when i play 3d games, pluged on power it doesn't overheat. Go to a service. If you have warranty for it, send it immediatly.

Overheating is caused by hardware issues, it has nothing to do with open applications. My phone never overheats even when I have 5 or even more applications running. If you have a warranty then it's the right time to use it.

Maybe your sim is defected. Put your sim on another phone and try. If it doesnt work, it's your sim.

Like i said, the procedure takes about 10-15 minutes. I recommend custom roms because they have less bugs, improved drivers and, the most important thing more memory available. Not to mention they move alot faster. I can't recommend a rom, because you may not like it. All you have to do is to look on modaco.com. There are alot of chefs that cook good roms(with TF3D, TF, HTC SENSE, Titanium). Just read and choose the one you like. You can always flash back to a stock rom, but i guarantee you won't do it.

the phone was working just fine and then one day i couldn`t sms any more! (I keep getting Sending Failed whenever i try ), i did check the Service Center number and it is correct,.. I used the SIM card of another service provider and the sms was sent with no problems.. i put my sim card again and it didn`t work! other users of the same service provider can sms with no issues.. ) so I really don`t see what the problem is... any ideas? :\

There are some 3rd party apps, like resco contact manager, s2u2 wich can handle incoming calls. I use s2u2 because it's free and it has interesting features like iphone lockscreen.You can set it to handle incoming calls, with 3 id options(fullscreen, thumbnail,frame). Give it a try.

Is there any chance of having ID pictures for may contacts displayed in big format when I make or receive a call? I mean what a 3.7" screen is good for if when you receive a call the ID picture of the contact is displayed only in a small part of the screen? Same goes when you're making a call and the ID picture is dispalyed even smaller than when you receive calls. They should display ID pictures in a size that fits fully in the 3.7" screen, like in Nokia's N78, for example.

Ritson, pls try this also, go to SETTINGS, SYSTEM tab, POWER & PERFORMANCE, PERFORMANCE > you have 4 options there, high, normal, low & auto. if it's set in HIGH, set it to AUTO. My phone drains like crazy if it's set to High.. P.S. I'd agree with Lawrence with your ROM. since your battery is new, you should get almost 2 days of normal use with it.

@ Ritson . Then you have the answer. Your actual rom is not battery friendly :P. A new one should do it. You don't have to be a computer wizz to do it yourself. The process takes about 10-15 minutes. If you are not that confident,go to a gsm service, but they will charge you. @pink phoenix. There are alot of 3rd party apps for back-up. But i don't understand why do you need it. If you flash a new rom, it's not recommended to restore a backup from a different old one. The sms/mms/contacts, yes...they work...but not other apps. If you want to backup your media files(pictures, videos etc), just connect the phone in storage mode and copy your files on pc :). Besides, flashing a new rom won't erase your storage, only main memory. I can tell you this for sure, because i'm testing many roms on my phone and it never erased my storage. Again, for all those who really want a better omnia, look on modaco.com. A simplegoogle search modaco i8000 will guide you to the site. Good luck

i had my O2 for almost a year now. i had an experience on software error. The error notification always appear whenever i open a specific program, in my case was my messages...the samsung service assistant told me to re-install my windows...bad thing they have no program to back-up my files and all of it were erased after they re-install the windows...if anyone knows how to back-up all the file in your phone thru active sync coz media files and messages and contacts where disabled on back-up selections on activesync...if anyone knows how...pls help me...thanks...

Hi Lawrence, sorry I am not a mobile buff or understand computers very well. Where do I find what ROM is being used. I had the phone upgraded from 6.1 to 6.5 whilst in Singapore. I have checked that no apps are running, but still a full battery even on standby does not get me half a day, sometimes its dead within a couple of hours. Its so frustrating as I have a work iphone that gets me a full day even when using. Any help or advice would be welcomed. Thanks

Hmm..make sure there no hidden apps running(like gprs, wi-fi etc) It would be much help if you tell us what rom do you have. I had this issue with an older rom. after flashing to a newer one, the drain problem was gone :).

I have had my Omnia II since it first came on the market in Singapore last year. I moved back to the UK earlier this year. I have just had a new battery in the phone. I have a problem with the battery getting drained so quickly even when not using. Can someone advise on how to prevent this or is this a trait of this particular model. I have also seen adverts for the larger size battery, but the downfall is the larger back section required, is it worth it? Look forward to any advice on this thanks..

A device that amazed me was moto defy. i have manage to test it..omg :).. i made a call in a jar of water :)...amazing device with pretty good specs :)....you can compare it to omnia 2(800 mhz cpu, android 2.1, 512 mb ram etc).

You cant compare these 2 devices. Omnia runs on winmo, N8 on symbian. I would avoid the symbian. Go for android if you dont like winmo. The main attraction for omnia 2(besides it's specs) is the price. A similiar android device(256/512 mb, 5 mp camera, internal memory etc) costs at least 200 usd more. So, omnia 2 is not obsolete my friend. To me, nokia made a mistake sticking on symbian. An android equivalent to omnia it would be desire, but it's quite expensive. just look around, but importantly, try the phone you want before you buy it. go to a cellular shop and test it. dont buy it because me or any other person says so. if i like o2,you may not.all we can give is a personal opinion. the decision is yours.

those parts are difficult to find, i think you might want to send it to service center and let them fix/replace whatever was damaged on your phone, they'll have to order that from their supplier.. you just have to pay them a few bucks.

i'd agree with that, when i bought my O2, the rom was laggy (honestly).. then i tried to flash new (cooked) roms - now it's all good, remember that the CPU can go up to 800+ mhz. depends on your winmo version i guess, coz i never had options on 6.1 for PERFORMANCE. on 6.5, i theres an option for auto,low (200+ mhz) ,normal (400+mhz) and high (800+mhz) *correct me if im wrong :D auto will be my settings most of the time. but sometimes low would be fine for me specially if im not using my phone for multi tasking. when i watch movies, sometimes i just set it to low so i can save battery.

@Sun. Less 200 euros, more than ok, depending on its state. Anyway, get it. About the so called lag, i guess it software and it can be easily solved with a new rom. The stylus is for precision in 6.1 and 6.5 winmo. 6,5,3 is more finger friendly and in 90% of the cases i dont need it. so.. @Fadz. It's so easy to set mp3 as ringtones :). Just create a folder named "My Ringtones" on my storage or storage card. That's it. Put all you mp3 ringtones there and..you will have a litle surprise. Try it and tell me if worked(it should, as it worked for me).

@ El Splendido. There are some apps, but i don't think it will help if you have a stock rom. Dinarsoft memmaid, SkTools(this is for advanced users only), Pocket Mechanic Professional, CleanRam. But all this apps have limited effect on a stock rom(since the memory specs are so low). That's why i recommend custom roms. Good luck.

hmm..did you set the flash to on/auto?if you tap the screen while in picture/video mode, a menu will appear. on the upper right corner you have a lighting icon. that;s the flash:P. press on it and select auto. if you already tried that, it may be a hardware issue and send it to warranty. good luck

to me, the most annoying problem is the memory leak. i have fixed almost of the other issues. anyway, i cant give an objective opinion. i like the device too much. i wont say there aren't bugs on this phone. all i can say most of them have a fix. about buying this phone,again you shouldn't ask this on the internet. you will get pros and cons and you will be confused. best way is to go to a shop and try it. if you like it buy it. it's simple. good luck.

I had enought problemes with i900 omnia and Samsung "great" support for it......The resistive touch is a big minus and this phone seems to lag very often. Samsung won't release new firmwares because they just launched omnia7........ But since it's price has gone down sharply, it's worth buying for all the feature that it has........... i'm glad someone here thinks my posts are ok and learned something from them. now let's take it step by step. 1. there are a few apps that allow to use o2 as a flashlight. best of them is made by wes58 from modaco community(actually his tool is the best to create roms for omnia 2) here it is : 2.my mail is k_mikaze2004 on yahoo/hotmail. please mention gsmarena when you contact me. i may ignore otherwise. 3. about gps software, depends the country you're from. just google around and you will find many : igo, tomtom, northcross, sygic etc. try and see what is best for you. look in your country for dedicated forums. 4.about the update. stop trying. you won't manage to update your winmo like that :). best way to REALLY update the phone is by flashing a new rom(stock or custom, your choice) 5. there are many video file converters. i just dont bother using them. not worth the time. either i download the video files in mobile formats(mp4 is great) or i just upload the avi files to my phone. i usually watch movies with tcpmp because it has subtitle support and its totally free.you just have to rename the subtitle like the video file. again. omnia 2 it's a great device, all it needs is a litle time to discover it. enjoy your omnia like i do with mine.

To play HD files, I have found 4MediaShare to work wonders. Samsung will not actually tell you how to do it just what it can do. Convert your file to WMVHD and leave the audio alone. Hi all specialy Lawrence When i bot it 2nd hand i did not know what i was buying (it was nice, good hold-not to big, not so good grasp), because in our shops they don't hold a real phone, 90% of them are dummys. So in that little time that i had it to check it out i so that is quick, good screen, collors and sound. Hi You have to download a resco explorer or something else. Send it to your phone, instal it and explore with it to send multiple files. And for the other thing, i think that you bot the phone 2nd hand and is not set to your local operater (net provider). You need to go to service or shop and let them know who is your operater so they can change the software (codes) for it. That is all. Enjoy.

Ok guys...here is my review on this phone. Wrote it on "A surprising experience"thread, but i want it be here too, with some adds. 1. The display is great, one of the best on the market. AMOLED just kick ass. The so called 65k colour limitation it's just a BS. The human eye can't tell the difference and in video playback it's flawless. The light sensor is really making the difference. The brightness is adjusting according to exterior light. If you ware in the dark, the brightness will lower, if you are outside in the sun, it will increase. 2. The camera is great, but needs a litle adjustement in the settings. Then you won't get unfocused pictures. Changing the rom also provided me with some modified camera drivers that improved the quality. By default,better than competition(led flash, autofocus, macros, scenes, etc. 3. The default gps app is google maps(which really sucks :)) ). there are many gps apps around, and they work very well : i personally use igo8(best app for Romania), but it's working with garmin,tom tom, northstar etc. in fact it's working with ALL gps software. All you need to do is to add some lines in the sys.ini regarding the resolution. The gps lock is fast(i think). It takes about 30 seconds to find the sattelites and get a lock(with extra enabled). 4. The memory issue i spoken before. Due to it's wvga resolution, compared to omnia 1, i8000 sucks at first sight. It requires more ram for itself, BUT : i get to play high quality videos(up to 2mbps bitrate with a litle overclocking of the cpu). The normal divx, avi , mpeg formats are running smooth, with a third party application(like TCPMP, divxplayer, coreplayer etc) 5. About the apps, someone said all the nice apps cost. REALLY? What about the iphone 3gs, the direct competitor? the device that is really useless straight out of the box? you can't even send/receive items on bluetooth and you are limited to their app store. True, alot of the apps there are free, but 99% of them are useless.Those you need cost money. So, all you need to do is search the net and you will find all the apps you need, or use the application market. there are alot of free apps there, alot for money. They must live too,right? 6. CPU. Default is 800/814 Mhz. There are 3 profiles to use : low(the frequency drops to 624/667 mhz, even lower), auto (800/814 mhz) and power(the frequency increases up to 866+). With a litle program i've managed to keep it steady on 960 Mhz. Highest freq was 1ghz(in theory you can go up to 1158 Mhz), but not stable. Not to mention the battery drain. I use OC mode only when it's plugged to a power source :). All i can say i really love this device. Fast, responsive, great camera, fast gps, it's more than ok. And with a litle tuning and tweaking it's beating the iphone 3g/3gs by far. Even by default, out of the box, omnia 2 has more options and features than the apple competition. 7. The storage. 2/8/16 gb internal. with MICRO SD slot, up to 32 gb. This means a total of 48 gb. You can store your entire life on that :). What the competition give? 16/32 gb, with no slots, no battery changing options, simlock, micro sim(if you want to change to another device, you have to go to your carrier and change the sim = more money spent) 8. The sound. DNSE with srs wow hd just rocks. A minus here? lack of a stereo speakers system. But it's loud and clear. Dont forget the proximity sensor. when the phone rings and you pick it up, the volume decreases by itself, so it wont disturb your ears. Nice feature. Conclusion. Love it or hate it. There are bugs(many solved by the communities around the world), but all devices have. Best feature of this device is the price. An iphone 3gs costs about 400-500 euros, while omnia 2 costs 200(the 2 gb version) and top 300(16 gb). You tel me if a the difference is worth.I don't think so. This is my personal opinion. No i don't work for samsung, i'm not paid by them to write positive reviews.

But i won't be surprised to see a modded omnia 2 with winmo7, like i saw with android on it. the hardware is not that bad. the lack of proper drivers draws the phone back.let's wait and see what happens. btw, i managed to play with a wp7 device. it's ok, but something doesn't feel right . it may be just my 2 cents, but i just didn't like it.

i'd like that. a few bucks wouldn't hurt,but... :))...i just talk from my own experience with this phone. there are a couple of people here who can say that i helped them out with their problems and now are trully enjoying the omnia. i never said omnia 2 is the perfect device, with no problems. i just said most of them can easily be solved. ALL of the similar devices have downs and ups. there is no perfect gadget. do you think if you had an iphone you would be happy?or a hd2? or any other device? just look on the dedicated forums to read users opinions. it's a marketing strategy my friend. my luck was the modaco community. with their help i can share what i've learned to help you.if you don't like it, i won't write here anymore. i know my phone is more than ok, with the improvements i've done. end of story.

If you don't know how to use it, sell it, buy a nokia 1100 and be happy. Smartphones ( oops) are not for everybody. They are complicated devices, which require a certain amount of knowledge regarding mobile phones, pda's etc. If you bought omnia 2 only because it looks cool, it's shiny and it has a big screen, well........

let's take it step by step. 1. I just don't know about brazil's networks, but on modaco there are couple of brazil rom makers. so, they are using omnia 2 in brazil too :P. One of them is shadowangel, who has made even portuguese brasil roms. you should give it a try. 2. I dont have internet freezes. I'm using opera mobile 10 with flashlite 3.1 and flashplayer 7 installed. works great on my 3g connection, almost perfect on wifi. With dinarsoft memmaid you can change the cache folder for opera. instead of main memory, the cache will move to my storage. it helps, by keeping the main memory free 3. about the rom files. my friend you should read VERY CAREFULY the flashing procedure. First, the files you are downloading are archived with 7zip 9 beta edition. it won't work with winrar or an earlier 7zip version. Let's say you want to flash JH2 6.5.3. You will need these files : JH2 Eboot, JH2 pda, a CSC(look around, there are many, for almost each zone) and the phone part. Latest is JF1. Depending on the zone you are from, the csc is customized. This is very important, because if you are from Asia and you will flash an european csc, the network settings will be a mess. So, for more details contact me on e-mail(look a few pages back).

Hi Lawrence I`m satisfied with my Omina 2 on nearly all aspects except internet browsing. If you read the postings here in this forum, you`ll see most Omnia 2 owners complain the unit hangs or freezes while browsing the net. I`m one of those too, and am about to ditch this phone after several frustrating moments. However since you say the phone needs to be tweaked a little for it be out of this problem, I`m willing to give it one more chance. The point is, I`m not well versed with phone software. I would love to follow your instructions and tweak my Omnia 2 for a better internet experience. If I can get it to not freeze that much, I`ll be willing to put up with some of the other negative aspects, which are really small. There is no perfect unit. However, I`m afraid, not knowing much about software I may do something which could lead to more problems!

What about in Brazil? Do you have any info? My network provider (TIM) says it works with 850 /2100 Mhz. Some states runs over 850 and others 2100. But the whole questions is if it is really 850 or 900. That info will make choose from it or not.

According to Samsung's website, the 3G Network frequency for UTMS are 850 /1900 / 2100 Mhz. The 900Mhz would not be in this phone. That little information make the whole difference to me, since it brings it back as an option for me. Can anyone confirm it to me???

Hmm...omnia 2 disconnects the wi-fi in order to safe the battery, but only if there is no activity. try settings-wifi-configuration and uncheck the power save mode.

Like i said, i'm from romania. i think there are about 6-7 hrs difference between us . about the memory leak? samsung did a crappy job with this device regarding the software. too bad about the nice hardware specs. the memory managament sucks.this means, in time, we "lose" the available ram and to recover it you need to restart(soft reset) the phone. Example : monday i have 89 mb ram free. next sunday, i have only 55-60 mb ram free. where is the rest gone? in samsung's belly i guess :)). after a soft reset it's all coming back. that's why i said the only thing that really bugs me is this. the rest very good.

hmm...maybe it's software related.the new rom you flashed may be defected. it happened before. just tell me the rom you are using. anyway, remember guys : omnia 2 may not be the perfect device(but again, is there a perfect one?), but it's everything you need. like a car, it needs a litle tuning to go smoothly :P.i have found the way to really improve my omnia, but you can say i'm a litle freak about it : i flashed a clean rom(just drivers and settings) and i installed only the apps i need. the whole process took me about 2 hours. but now i have THE OMNIA 2 :P. 290 mb rom and 90 mb ram free(with all my apps installed, including spb mobile shell with naong mobile sense). It's running great, no freezes, no glitches, no hangups no nothing :P. I think it's a small price to pay(2 hrs) in order to improve the phone :P. all it needs is a restart every week. The memory leak can't be fixed with a program to recover the ram. thats it

Just bad luck i think. 1.There is a secret menu to increase volume, just google around a bit. It's easy and the results are booming. Or you can use srs wow hd for omnia 2. 2.i don't get it. what rom are you using? there are some mms issues in some ultralite roms, but... 3. I can make a video to show you don't need to turn on bt before sending files. it's turning on automaticaly. 4.With a proper file explorer(like resco explorer) you can select multiple files and send them via BT. 5. First hi to all of you. I have this phone for 3 month and just kills me every time. I can't get him to work as it should. 1st volume in the ear speaker - not loud enough, 2nd MMS and internet - new softwear, 3rd BT - i can't send a file if the BT isn't turned on, i hav eto turn it on manualy, 4th sanding with BT - only 1 file at a time (COME ON!) Actually, with a wm 6.1 custom rom you have impressive memory specs. 396 mb rom and 133 mb ram free. Those who don't want eye candy and go strictly for practicality, it's the best. Also, it can be upgraded very easy.What's bothering me the most is the damn memory leaking. If samsung solves this issue, it will sell omnia 2 for many years from now. but i guess there are other interests here.

Do you mean the smart reader? if you want to scan business card. run the smart reader program. Choose bizcard. you will see a frame on the screen. focus the frame on the bizcard until all the corners are in place. The camera will shoot automatically. after scanning, the details on the business card can be saved in the phonebook.

Indeed, the samsung sms app is very sluggish. I'm using vito sms chat. it's faster than default sms app. With phm registry editor do this : Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Shell > Rai > :MSINBOX set the following: Name: 0 Data: SMSChat Name: 1 Data: "\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe" [DONT FORGET THE "QUOTES"] Name: 2 Data: 0 Name: 3 Data: 0 This is if you have installed sms chat on your device. If you installed it on "My storage", just add the right path. This is working, but easier it's to use spb mobile shell. it has al the shortcuts, and you have threaded sms view. good luck. about the hard reset, it will only erase main memory, not the storage. But, if you want to do a back-up, use a third party app like resco back-up, sprite back-up. good luck again :)

@ aly. i also had this issue at first. i said before, you need to change some things in the settings menu. I set the ISO to 50, activated the antishake and wdr functions. with these on, i get crystal clear pictures.Better than more dedicated cameras, not to mention better than almost all similar devices. Remember though it's a phone. Pictures taken on dark are not very bright, but hey...read above :). try this and tell me if it worked out. if not maybe it's software issue. there are some modded drivers on modaco. good luck

i bought my omniaII 2 or three months before just today , i started the phone , ehrn found that my internal 16 gb storage were gone for good . i checked online to find that this is a very common problem so we r looking at a design flaw samsung so take care everybody the phone it self is nice , i was quite satisfied about it

.@ skyjack - you can't compare omnia 2 with desire. why? first, the hardware specs. second, android vs winmo.i'm not saying one is better than other, it's more a personal choice. i'm happy with winmo, custom roms, as android users are happy with that os.and yes there are many custom android firmwares for all devices. this means ALL producers don't want to get the max out of a device, in order to make buy a new, more expensive one. Marketing all the way(look @ J B for apple). third, the price : in my country, a brand new omnia 2 is about 250 euros(2 gb version, 300 euros is the 16 gb), while desire is 450. I don't think that 1ghz cpu, with 512 mb ram is worth 150-200 euros.Don't forget omnia 2 has internal storage AND a micro sd slot. Now, about the wi fi, i don't have any issues with my omnia, maybe it's your rom. with 2 lines signal i can browse faster than my 3g+ data connection. and now problems with video streaming, either youtube or live tv. @ nick . tell me the version of your rom, and i'll provide some dl links for original firmwares. but i'm telling you this : once you got a custom rom, you won't return to the official :)).in fact, a custom rom is BETTER than the official. why? let's see : updated drivers, improved performance, you have the chance to install and keep only the apps you need. I repeat, for all of you that are sick of official roms, check modaco if you really want to see your omnia2 at it's maximum capacity. 3 days ago i just flashed a custom JE3 6.5.3 rom, and i have 250 mb rom and 85 mb ram, AFTER i installed all the apps i need(and there are quite many - about 30), including spb mobile shell(it really brings out the omnia) with naong mobile sense. without naong mobile sense i got about 90 mb ram free. can you tell me the memory specs on your device, with official rom? :)).with all apss/games installed? don't forget, for most samsungs default apps, there are better third party applications, some free, some "free". we're not allowed to talk about warez, but you get my idea :). like i said before, i'm gonna stick with my omnia2.

Tks Lawrence for your tips. I`m actually a little disappointed with Omnia`s performance compared with HTC Desire. Both phones are priced about the same. You tube works so well with HTC Desire even with weak WIFI signal. With the same signal strength, my Omina just would not open the video files, even facebook photos would not download. Only with strong signal, facebook and you tube work. I`ll try modaco.com and hope to spruce my Omnia`s performance. You are right, Samsung Market apps are crappy! I am definitely going to try Pocket Mechanic. Like you said the damn ghost are still around!

Tks rajdxb I checked the website,the call rates are about the same as Skype. I`m not too happy with the changes Skype has made recently. The changes invariably all cost the customer. I will not continue my subscription. Time to look at other providers.

But it's not enough just to delete them. Deleting is not the same with uninstalling. Even so, a simple uninstall with winmo default "remove programs" it's not enough. all apps will leave some ghost registry/folders on you device, eventually ending on hanging/freezing. That's why i recommend an application like pocket mechanic or dinarsoft memmaid. Great apps for cleaning your device registry/folder/system, just like you do with your pc. do this and i guarantee you won't have a freezing device :).

if you want to free your main storage, without deleting the installed apps, you can always use pocket mechanic to relocate them to my storage or storage card. It moves the apps and it also makes the registry entries.

Here it is Just read the tutorial and download the rom that suites you best. I prefer the ultralite roms, as i get more rom and ram free+ i install only the apps i need. If you are not that much into it, i recommend a normal rom, with all apps and stuff included. Look for kimitza on modaco(thats me) and i will help you further.

There are at least 3 different 6.5.3 roms(JE3,JG2, JH2 for omnia 2, latest is dated september 2010, even a 6.5.5 rom (JE1).All these official. If we're talking custom, more than 30 :).So, i don't think MS will ditch wm6(at least not 6.5.3). There are already a couple of wp7 customizations around and they look great on omnia 2. too bad the hardware won't support it. But i tell you this : if samsung developes a real video(opengl) driver for omnia 2, it will ROCK. i will stick on this device till i die :)).

As i said, NOT TRUE. The installer asks where do you want to install the application. about the "remains" of the apps in main storage, it's like on pc. every app needs to make it's entry to the registry. but that's all. about 99% of the apps let you choose the path to install, just like on a regular pc.

Look on modaco.com. it's quite easy to flash a new custom rom. it takes about 10 minutes. i personally chosen an ultralite rom, since i don't need all the crappy apps installed by samsung. this way i get to install only the apps i need. @ samsung4life. i think you don't know what are you talking about. besides samsung/winmo drivers and SPB Mobile Shell, i have installed ALL my apps in My Storage/Storage card.

Hi. I have this phone for a few months and i'm very pleased. flashed a custom rom(6.5.3) and the specs are : 340 mb rom and 108 mb ram free at boot. after installing all my apps, i have 90 mb ram free. As a VOIP app use Nimbuzz. it's free and it's more than ok :P.good luck. i recommend this phone, but not out of the box. it needs a litle tuning to use it at it's max. look on modaco.com. those guys did a better job than samsung :)).

For ALl OMNIA II users; Always remember when you have installed a application in your OMNIA II, the application goes automatically inside the Main Storage, so if your Main Storage is almost full delete programs in the Main Storage that you don't need and after using the Internet be sure to delete Cache files ok, so that your OMNIA II cpu processor will run fast and it will not hang... hopes this helps...

Samsung4life. The post below is mine, forgot to write in my name. Have you updated to WM6.5.3. Has it made any difference to the performance. I don`t want to update just for the sake of it. Besides Skype is not available for WM anymore. I`ve got Skype on mine and works well. I`m not sure Skype will work with the update. Have you tried Fring. Wonder how well Fring works with WM. Any other VOIP app for phones you can recommend?

Tks for the tip, Samgung4life! Deleting the cache files did help. The performance is slightly better. As the audio quality is super, I now use my set for music,phone and browsing the net only. Your tip on using the flash as an emergency torch also came in handy when a lighting strike knocked out the main power CB at my house. Great tip buddy!!!

Microsoft has always done this and still doing it. They put out a program that is not fully stable and then fix the problems based on feedback. I believe it`s the same modus operadi with WM. The number of updates says a lot for it`s operationally. You are right my friend, it is a conspiracy! A conspiracy to rob the customer blind! Don`t get me wrong, I`m not saying the phone is rubbish! In fact I think it is a great device, but has a number of bugs. WM has introduced version 7. Will this fix all the bugs on the old version? I don`t know, because WM 7 is not available for Omina 2. Samsung has ditched WM altogether! I know for a fact WM6.5.3 itself is not available this phone. I been to the Samsung Service Center in Singapore several times for the update and not got it. Samsung is not interested in any more WM updates!

I do not want to give the impression that this is the best phone, just because I own it! I bought this phone after a lot of research. I was given the wrong impression, cos I found not all what was said in the review is correct. I like to take this opportunity to discuss this issues of WM being unstable. I agree if an unsuitable software is installed, it presents problems and the phone`s operation becomes unsatisfactory. Now how would one recognize a particular software to be suitable or unsuitable? One answer is to download from Samsung authorized website. I`m sure you have more answers to this question. This being the case, would you agree Samsung Marketplace would be a safe site? After all, it`s a built in app! That`s what I thought, and had downloaded 4 softwares, Netquin being one of them. It was after these downloads the phone began to hang and work slow! The question now is this! Are the apps at this Marketplace the `wrong software�, at least some of them? It would be careless on my part to place a blanket statement! So, some of the apps are causing the phone to hang and work slow. If they are the wrong software, why has Samsung place it on the shelf? If they all good, is there a problem with the OS??? I say again, I`ve only downloaded the softwares from Samsung Market place. It was only after these downloads the phone hangs and works slow.

all i can say about omnia 2 is very simple. every 6 months i change my cp out of frustrations. but this stuff changed it.after 18 months im still using my omnia 2 6.5wm . music, browser, photos, videos, phone calls, am really satisfied. im sure its because i know how to use it. its a perfect smartphone.

Hi waleed Omnia 2 is discontinued. It works on Windows Mobile and WM is an unstable OS. WM 7 will not be available for Omnia 2. Samsung has brought out several newer models. If you must have a Samsung, then go for the Samsung Galaxy S or the Wave. I like the Galaxy S with the 4 inch screen. These work on Android OS. HD 2 is a good choice, but it also works on WM. Have a read on my comments about these 2 phones a week ago.

I travel overseas on duty a lot, therefore use my phone mainly on WIFI internet. It`s a big help while waiting at an airport or flight delays. I have to agree with Rohini K, Opera hangs quite a fair bit, this becomes very frustrating! Exactly as fadz said, after 2 months and after loading a few apps the phone has become slow and hangs more often. Clearing the old and unused stuff from the memory helps, as the phone does not hang that much. I`m going to keep it as it is,no games,no more apps,just use it as a internet browser and phone. I use Skype to call home or friends abroad. WMA audio files play very well with excellent sound quality. With this kind of usage, my battery last for 2days.

I've had my omnia 2 4 about a year now and have loved it but samsung australia has let me down. well, i tell you my experienced to this phone. i bought it nov. of last year. the first 2 months was good, no problem whatsoever. after a couple of months, when i start loading apps, then i experiencing slow in openning messages, apps, and it freezes sometimes. so i took the sim out and put it to my other phone. as i said before, it took at least 18 days before the battery died.

Standby means phone is turned on and is not being used. NO calls, text msgs, and games, wi-fi/3g use, etc, etc.. No ringtone use either. No phone activities whatsoever. i did this before, and i got at least 18 days before battery dies.

In specification, battery life is 430 hours (in standby), but in practice it is not more than 70-80 hours (about 3 days)!!! Could anybody answer to this question ?

You are most welcome Ahmoneem! Google map works well. It locates the spot you are at with surrounding area. You can then zoom in or zoom out to identify street names. As for GPS Navigation, I haven�t got my head around it. The manual is very poorly written, still struggling to understand how it works. Maybe someone who has tried can help!

How to stop phone charges while on WIFI connection? The credit seems to be depleting even when browsing the net on WIFI. I`ve read the manual but still have not found a way to stop loosing credit. I`ve been using the Omnia 2 for 3 months. My friend has the HD 2. I`ve compared both the phones and my vote goes for the HD 2. Yes it is a bit more expensive,but you get a better experience browsing the net. The Omnia 2 has served me well most of the time. As a phone it is great and has some nice built in apps. There are many more apps you can download for free or purchase. As an internet browsing device I would give it 7 out of 10. It`s light weight makes it convenient to carry around in a pocket. With good signal strength, performance is satisfactory. I`ve enjoyed many hours with the Wifi connection. However, page selection is a weak spot on the touch screen. I would say 50% of the time I`ve not been able to make a selection within a page. Generally connectivity is poor when the Wifi signal is weak. This is the most disappointing part of this smartphone, as cheaper sets have performed better with the same signal strength. The HTC HD2 certainly out performs the Omnia 2 on connectivity with Wifi. Well, you pay more if you want more!

Dear Omnia II Users, I need a sincere advice about the reliability of "I8000 Omnia II" from somebody who used the mobile for a long enough period .( H/W & S/W ) I'm planning to buy one very soon, my alternative choice is "htc HD II" but it is more expensive. Hard Reset will delete all data from Phone Memory & restore the settings to Default. (Settings which you see when you turn on the phone for the first time.)

The meaning of Soft reset form the Hard reset; A Soft Reset will only reboot the PDA and nothing else, and after reboot will return you to the PDA home screen and this is done when pressing the button at the back of your OMNIA II with a toothpick. A Hard Reset will reset the PDA back to factory defaults and erase every thing, and after reboot will return you to the Align Screen screen. ALL programs will need to be re-installed after hard-reset and this is done by pressing the "Clear Memory" from the "Memory Settings" which will be seen in the "Settings".

@ dev; Well the speaker is good bec. it has SRS WoW HD but when you connect the earphone the sound quality is the best and about the Samsung wave S8500 the speaker is good too, so its your choice my friend bec. all Samsung phones are good... hope this helps...

it is very slow! it take about 5 sec or more to open any SMS message. battery life is very small, and need to recharge them each day. but its camera and AMOLED display is good.

Hey Guys!I want to share some.As a inquisite person I hard reset my phone and once its restarted I was shocked to know that my omnia2 lost signals I called my network help line and there were no network issue it was samsung hardware failure now I m reality helpless and dont know what to do with my phone.Samsung phones have reliability issue and this my second bad experience with samsung phone.Really Helpless.

Why do you say that? Indeed samsung really screwd up a nice piece of hardware(the memory management sucks big time), but with a custom rom from modaco it will rock :). I also had a shock when i bought it, but now it's more than ok. Look around on modaco and you will see :P.

Omnis; Omnia II has a built-in GPS receiver ok and OMNIA II comes with google maps and you can check the "Manage GPS automatically" so that you wont need to fixed the settings... hopes this helps you out my friend and just message me out if you have problems again ok my friend...

Does Omnia II have built-in GPS receiver or only A-GPS?! I looked everywhere, GSMArena says it have "Built-in GPS receiver with A-GPS" but Samsung's website only mentioned A-GPS for both Omnia LITE and the Omnia II... You don't need to download windows again. The phone has a copy of it in its memory. So it replaces the damaged one with the new one. You will have to personalize your phone all over again...from connection settings to wallpapers etc. It is said that after a hard reset your phone will be like "out-of-the-box", "brand new"(in terms of OS). ;)

I'm waiting for my HD2 to come back from service so I'm using the OMII again. Having trouble connecting to wifi and installing some software that worked on my HD2 but not on the OMII. The HD2 is alot easier to setup than my OMII is.... I was just using my OMII as my music player and TV out to watch movies on the road... I should've never updated to WM6.5......

I put the WM6.5 on my OMII and it's crappy (phone is slow and freezes, and sometimes the status bar at the top goes away. I have to resart device often daily. Does anyone know how to get the original WM6.1 back on my phone (I live in the US)?????????

yes, you have to format it. You can chose from: 1. soft reset go to ->settings->memory setting->clear memory This will reverse your phone to the factory stage 2. hard reset you have to : turn off your phone then press simultaneous Volum up+unlock button+green/answer button+off button. In this order. REMEMBER: FIRST BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS,CALENDAR ETC BECAUSE IF YOU USE ONE OF THIS METHODS YOU'LL LOOSE ALL YOUR PERSONAL DATA!!!!!! Second method erase your "main storage" + "my storage"(i don't think it will affect "storage card" too.But for safety reasons remove your card from phone.The first method erases only "main storage"(as far as I know). Hope this helped!:)

When I changed the system language to English,The system restart and It can not access on Windows 6.5 (frozen after the appearance of the word Samsung) I've tried to solve the problem, locate and return the battery but The problem is still the same I think that the system damaged.
