i updatet to 2011 omnia pro7 basic speed. its the best symbian for me. battery 2-3days with low setings and gsm mode, stereo sound is good, the problem is symbian, but the rest is good.

The problem is the boot part...Noboddy can do this(Or atleast no known hackers to date) except the samsung... Even samsung itself left it behind soon after its release For some regions they didnt gave even a damn single fw update... Same happend to nokia's own symbian right after... I'm going to work, to put this phone mod FW or Belle FW on duo-boot on nokia N9 bcz there is few hardware similarities, and i em sure it will work properly mking calls, cpu,gpu,camera,wifi,bt...also to modifie the screen grid sizes, bcz on symbian you can have lot of software choice.

Oh wow, people asking for Android OS to be ported on the I8910 HD ... simply put it cant be done as it uses a Samsung version of the Symbian Boot Loader. Even if it could be done spec wise it would not be able handle much more than Android 1.6 (I think that is either Cupcake or Donut) due to only having a 600MHz (downgraded to 550MHz) CPU, 256MB of RAM with a very small partition for ROM of something like 150MB and a rather weak GPU. But there is alternative like the HX-V11 custom firmware which basically turns the Omnia HD into a near enough Nokia n97 (final firmware edition) so you get kinetic scrolling, a patch to boost CPU to a max 950MHz and of course an open signature file to install various hacked Nokia (Ovi) apps like Ovi Maps and other Nokia Symbian S60/S^3 apps, you also get improved HD 720p@23fps video recording and better jpeg capture files (not by much but an improvement) i.e.: use google to search for HX-V11 custom roms to download the needed files to basically upgrade the Omnia HD. Overall Samsung never really gave the support needed to make this handset what it could be, at one stage in 2009 it was an iPhone 3 and 3gs killer with its 3.7" AMOLED screen, decent spec levels (again for 2009 based 600Mhz single core CPU, 256MB RAM and 150MB ROM, PowerVR SGX GPU, came in either 8GB or 16GB version, has HSDPA 7.2 / HSUPA 5.6 (for both 2100/900 bands) and Quad band GSM (all with EDGE/GPRS support) and featured Symbian S60v5 (which was KING at that point in time) but sadly to much time has gone by for this handset and essentially now a crappy Huawei Android OS based handset beats it silly. I have my one currently with HX-11 firmware and have set the HXPatcher to also be locked at 850MHz for CPU which does help out a lot and also use Opera Mobile 12.0 as the main browser ... Of course I have the Galaxy S II and only use the Omnia HD as a HD video recorder and as a home use WiFi device ...

I hope it is not a hardware problem..

Galaxy S2 is better than all phones now..But in April or May there will be Galaxy S3..do not buy HTC..just wait and go for S3..if you need a bigger screen like Sensation XL or Galaxy Note..you should choose Note..or maybe there will be Note2..just google its release date..but I think 4.3 inch is good enough.. It's good to be back =) I have a Galaxy S2 since August..and also keep my loyal I8910.. But I want to say that Android is awesome.. If you have enough budget to afford a new Galaxy S2, do not think twice..Just get Galaxy S2.. I am definitely glad with my Galaxy S2.. In 2012, there will be Ice Cream Sandwich update for Galaxy S2 and the others.. If you want to wait for 6-7 months.. There will be Galaxy S3..The specifications of it are GREAT!

The touchpad is called a digitizer, underneath that is an lcd screen. I purchased a omnia hd digitizer from ebay and fitted it myself, it requires patience and care as i slightly scratched the lcd, i was too rough prying the digitizer off and stuck knife to far in.

You've right, I've this one about two years also, great device, so much inside, dlna, hd camcorder etc, but yes symbian was the weak link here. Well I am still using Hyper X custom firmware HX v11 with my Omnia HD, I have found a way to safely use the full 950MHz overclock setting without hurting battery performance, the Omnia HD is now a near perfect device and when you look at the 2009 specifications over the latest and greatest Nokia device the X7 its still amazing that Samsung with the help of the firmware modding community in short showed Nokia that it made the best Symbian S60v5 device ever. In terms of the new S^3 over S60v5 the main difference is that S60v5 sadly uses single tap/double tap method to enter sub menus / settings whereas S^3 is basically all single tap and of course minor changes to connectivity options but S60v5 and S^3 are pretty much similar to use in operation. Looking at the new Nokia X7 over the much older Omnia HD, in standard "Samsung" firmware mode the Omnia HD is useless but Omnia HD owners are fortunate that their was a large firmware modding community whether it was was Hyper X or Faenil at least we had over the last 18 months to have the Omnia HD right up their with the best of Nokia Symbian devices. The X7 has a 4" AMOLED screen with 360x640 resolution v the Omnia HD 3.7" AMOLED screen with 360x640 screen. The X7 still has 256MB of RAM, the Omnia HD has 256MB of RAM. The X7 has dual stereo speakers, the Omnia HD has dual stereo speakers. The X7 has 8MP FFC (Fixed Focus Camera) with Dual LED flash that also does 720p HD 25fps approx 10Mbps bitrate MP4 video recording, the Omnia HD 8MB AFC (Auto Focus Camera) with LED flash that also does 720p HD 23fps approx 10Mbps bitrate(when using HX based firmware) MP4 video recording. The X7 uses an ARM A11 680MHz CPU the Omnia HD has the ARM A8 600MHz CPU in standard mode and you can safely overlock it to a max 950MHz (using HX v11 firmware) or if you want you can use the dynamic mode to have up to 3 levels of performance, on my end I have the HX patcher set to "Locked, Max Performance 950MHz for all 3 levels" for the last 3 months with no issues at all. For a 2009 device to still basically show that it can not only hang with new devices but in some cases beat the latest and greatest especially from Nokia shows that the Omnia HD was a monster back in the day, imagine in Samsung actually did really get 100% behind it, sadly they failed to understand what they had created and have now totally dropped the platform but at least we had the dedicated firmware modding community to not only keep alive the Omnia HD but to make it better and relevant against the best of S^3 from Nokia and even some mid range Android OS handsets.

yeah I8910 challenges with Nokia N8 and X7 but this makes no sense. I don't like Nokia's new smartphones. So beating them does not impress me. There are much better phones now. Especially Galaxy S2,HTC Sensation,LG Optimus 2X etc.. It is important to keep up with brand new technology.. Nokia N8 does not success this, neither I8910. I love it(I8910) but as I mentioned before: SYMBIAN is not ENOUGH!!! (Last 41 days to buy a Galaxy S2 :-> )

you can try that: 1) type *#0*# from the dialer and this gets you to Test Screen. u can choose the Front Cam Test (or sth like that,I don't remember exactly but you can find it easily) 2) By an application (called Flashlight or Torch) you can be able to use the LED flashlight without using camera. (But the application needs to be signed)

i have the i8910 for 1 yr nw. at 1st i was not really happy with the phone but once i get used to it, i now enjoy using it. The battery can last on average for 2 days. The camera is amazing with the 8mp,can capture nice pics. Even if it would have been better with windows or Android, this samsung is good to use. However applications for the mobile is not quite easy to find. On overall, it is a great phone

@capricorn 650 h stand-by time is exaggerated. As I said before, I use this mobile 2 days without charging. And as u mentioned, camera quality is really good. BTW if I had 280 Euro I would be patient and add 30-50 Euro more.And buy a Galaxy S.(I knew there is Galaxy S2 and I want it so bad. But it is 550 Euro."Economical issues" :-< ) All in all, I just want to say that I8910 HD is a very good mobile. But it gets older and older since 2009. In 2 years we have seen much better phones which have Android( it will be enough NOT having Symbian :-> ) and 1 ghz processor with 512 mb RAM.. If I had a second chance to spend my money, I would definitely choose ANDROID based phone. I8910 had good "hardware" specifications (for 2009) but Symbian sucks :-

dear experts, I'm very much interested in buying this set but have few reservations, as this mobile is quite slow moreover, its battery is also very short life....it needs to be charged almost everyday whereas on the web it's said it can be used for 650 hours stand by and talk time is 13 hours but i believe it can hardly be 3 hours or maximum 4 hours. it's camera is superb with hd quality. your feedback is welcome

@mon.A I'm very pleased with the stand-by time. battery lasts "2 days" while using SPB in "lowest" display brightness. at least you don't need to charge your phone "every day". SPB doesn't consume so much RAM.( by the way, I use my phone mostly for SMS and calls, and 1-hour web browsing with wi-fi in a day) if you wanna do much more than this ( e.g games-applications-gps etc.) you are going to charge it every day. ( I heard that iphone users charge their phones everyday even if they don't use as much as me.) so it will be normal if you are going to charge everyday. today's battery technology is not enough at all.

@tanker yup, it's working But :) (I know it sounds like i'm complaining about everything) ( I feel like i'm annoying ) The lifestyle layout when i set its wallpaper it's like it's zoomed in at 400% or something never showing more than third of the wallpaper whatever its size i mean it looks ugly, On the other hand the professional layout only wallpapers are set as the wallpapers in the original mobile standby theme no exaggerated zooming which tells me it's not like a bug or something with the spb shell. Anyway at least i got numerous widgetable layouts even if they're all have the same wallpaper. I know i showerd you with questions the past week :( I wanted to ask you , how is the consumption of power & ram while using the (spb shell) at least from your own experience & usage ? Pardon me & thanks a looooooooooooot .!!

@mon.A I think we can not use different wallpapers in the same layout. But I use "professional" layout and the "basic" one at the same time. You can use "2 different wallpapers" by this way. If you swype your finger up or down, you can change the layouts. I mean u can change professional to basic or vice-versa.. Swype left or right= same layout but different screens of it. Swype up or down= different layouts (basic or prof.) ( I know I didn't express myself properly but try to swype up or down. it provides you to change layouts if you choose using both of them from the options(settings).. so you must activate this option from settings )

@tanker BTW I tried (spb shell v.3.7.6) on my current phone (se vivaz) & as you described it's perfect , it's very customi-zable although i'd have loved more than 1 wallpaper to be set on the layouts i use the prof. Layout i chose 3 layouts but all of them are the same wallpaper i mean i changed every layout with it's own widgets but if i could only set differant wallpaper to each layout [sigh....!!]

I have had this phone about 14 months and have had to replace the touch panel twice, which is not covered under the phone warranty. Also runs on Symbian which has no apps support anymore, and while the camera is good I find I have to use Sports mode to take a photo otherwise it is blurry. I had high hopes for this phone but it has not been a good experience and I don't think I would get a Samsung again.

@ARber sorry bro but u need to format ur phone..(if u want to use it just like the "first day")..there are no antivirus programs that have enough efficiency. so formatting is the only way to get rid of this problem. *#7370# OR press all 3 buttons just 2-3 seconds.(yes+menu button+no)

@mon.A 1) yes. we can pre-focus just like u said. 2)I've just tried 720 x 480 and I can say that it works really good. (FPS=30 same as 640 x 480) 3)Image quality is very good. It will satisfy you too. I usually use 5 MP and if u don't shake or vibrate the phone then u will get a really smooth result. also u won't need 8MP..5MP is enough to capture nice photos.. 4)I can't say anything about the widgets cause I'm not using Samsung Touchwiz UI 2.0. I use SPB MobileShell..I guarantee u, it is better than any other UI. and also it provides more personalization.( not an advertisement :-> )

I got both my phones on a plan so didn't have to sell one just renewed my contract. The screen on the S2 is fantastic, I usually have the brightness down to save battery as I use it so much but every time I turn it back on(brightness control is on, off or auto) I get wowed all over again. I have sat it next to Mrs's Galaxy S and the difference is amazing. Brightness 9/10, Colour/Contrast 9/10, Viewing angle 10/10. Camera is very good and Android is so much better than Symbian which was i8910's let down. I have so many Games and Apps now.

Hi Anjan, yes i agree with you but i love mine very much i'm using mine since 2009 and never ever went to service center. It has huge functionality in camera and amoled display of 3.7" also the samsung own interface. Software or theme availability is a problem but u can sign and install most of those by creating free account on site login> put imei details and request for certificate and the key, for free users they will generate the same in 5 working days and you can sign any N8 themes/ software and install. Most of them will work.. Enjoy your OMNIA. And Taste the True HD features. Believe me its superior than N8.

if a (must do) copmarison be made then: Vivaz edges OHD with(continous autofocus)&(looks,weight,sexy LEDs like blackberry) which i find not that big deal unless you value "looks" & "LEDs" more than a superior touchscreen in size & response + stereo speakers + battery 2G. If you use Vodafone service,just go to Vodafone website and go for help then select MMS then select the model of your phone and enter your phone number there,it will send you msg that you need to download,once you download you need to install just pressing next button then switch off your phone and turn on again and that's it you will have your MMS set correct for Vodafone users only...

Folks I hope one of you can help. I have my Omnia Hd for 10 months now. Recently though I tried establishing the setting for MMS as it never worked properly since here in Trinidad the provider never gave the correct settings for MMS for this phone. Anyway since I edited one of the Access MMS points I became unable to open a new access point or even edit any access points in the DESTINATION sub folder. Also, I cannot edit my e-mail boxes and can no longer send or receive an e-mail. Further, the phone freezes if I try several times to open an access point....Any idea on a possible resolve will be appreciated.

This procedure is about how to flash to an OFFICIAL rom from "Symbios" the guy who helped me and other OHD owners a lot... "hey hamid and all who need it, i know i promised these links since yesterday but i only got the chance now! the first link takes you to the file which has a tutorial video, symbian flashing tools and all the drivers you will need and the second link has some additional firmwares. important - this can only be done using windows xp after both files are downloaded install all the drivers in the first download, the i8910 drivers must be installed as well! after all the drivers are installed just follow the video step by step! now put your phone in bootloader mode as demonstrated and u'll notice some more drivers automatically install! now the download button should be highlighted! too those of you who plan to use the i8910xxii1 firmware like me! the following must be done in the pda_code_i8910xxii1 folder:- now this may become a little confusing or complicated or both ;) 1. in the pda_code_i8910xxii1 folder create a subfolder called "uboot" 2. copy the "nb1" and "nb2" subfolders to "uboot"(do not "move" the folders, be sure to only "copy") 3. go to the "core" subfolder and copy the "i8910xxii1_xxx.rom.img" to "uboot" folder and rename to "i8910xxii1_xxx.ubootldr.img" 4. in the "uboot" folder create another "uboot" subfolder(yes another one) 5. now simply copy the renamed "i8910xxii1_xxx.ubootldr.img" file to the second "uboot" folder 6. now in the rom flasher, untick the "boot" option next to "format" 7. finally click the "download" button on the rom flasher the flashing process takes about 2-3 minutes make sure your phone is fully charged and ensure that yoy make a back up of all your data! good luck guys!" you are wrong rohit.. official firmwares (2010) have kinetic scrolling. also hyperx and faenil have got the kinetic from the official firmwares..for example hx v3 is based on JC1 (this one has kinetic scrolling) official firmware.. [J means 2010 and C means March.] if you want to get more info, then just search for "samsung firmwares and language descriptions"

None of the official firmwares have kinetic scrolling in them. To get it, you'll have to flash your firmware to one of the cooked ones by Faenil ( i8910tuning.com ) or Hyperx ( hx-custom-roms.com )or any of the others. It'll void your warranty though.

I have had this phone for 2 years now, still best phone available. My wife has galaxy s, I prefer omnia hd until maybe galaxy s2 is out. This phone has 8mp camera, secondary cam, radio, mp3 player, hd video and gps all features I want and use. Only let down is wifes galaxy s has alot more apps available which is the only reason I will be updating to s2 but omnia hd will always have special place in my heart.

Lol using my Omnia HD to send this message, using swype landscape keyboard, was using Ovi Maps before and also taking pictures and shooting videos, while a friends I PHONE4 kept on freezing and needed to be rebooted to work. If you have the Omnia HD the best thing to do is update out to HX v11 or Fenelis custom firmware, it will turn your Omnia HD into an IPHONE killer. Also Opera Mobile 11 is awesome on the nice AMOLED 3.7" screen only downside its does not do flash content. Shame that Samsung have given up on the Omnia HD as the new browser on S^3 devices looks good compared to the S60v5 one

@hamidr-tnx for the effort.your method wasnt seccusful so i decided to tour the net.and i relise about 3 people were facing this same issue.the good news i guess am the first to solve it....this what i did.i reinstalled hx-11 without squares.after installation i continued tappin the screen so that i hx starter will open.luckly for me it did.i tempered with all the settings there but relised nothing could be changed.so i lost hope and allowed the phone to complete installation.since the hx-11 didnt fix my sound i wanted to flash with another rom again so i hard formatted the phone and to my suprise the sound came back.easy as abc.hope this same steps work for others facing the same problem.

Not even the lame brain Nokia N8 which I add is a 2010 rip off of the Omnia HD can match it. -------------------------- -2.low RAM of 256 mb only- -------------------------- Read above, even the Nokia N8 has 256MB of RAM, also I have both handsets and using Device manager widget at idle with no active apps the Omnia HD has free 140MB RAM and the N8 only has 125MB free RAM, thats a victory for S60v5 over the newer S^3 in N8. Again 2009 model Androids were lucky to have 128MB of RAM in 2009. --------------------------------------------- -3. Low resolution of screen 640*480 only---- -4. Bad screen, only amoled and bad sunlight- -legibility.--------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- Correction, its 360x640, which surprise surprise the N8 has, hmmm, interesting hey, who would of thought that Nokia would be ripping of Samsung hey, actually what is more scary is that it took Nokia almost 18 months of development work with the N8 to match what Samsung in 2009 with the Omnia HD. Also the first AMOLED screen in the world, in 2009 it was the bomb where Nokia were using resistive screens and Apple were using low re capacitive LCD screens. AMOLED is still better than LCD Capacitive let alone LCD Resistive screens. ------------------------------------------------­------ 5. 720p video recording is bad. It hardly reaches---- 22fps whereas others are now providing 720p at 30fps- and even better 1080p at 30fps.----------------------- ------------------------------------------------­------ yet for 2009 is was awesome, the HX Patcher has fix the issue on frame rate by lowering the bitrate, the CPU (not CPU) controls the HD video recording and as such you can now have smooth 1280x720p 23.997fps HD video recording, however it uses h.263 video codec and not h.264 which is more advanced but hey again for a 2009 model handset to have it goes to show that the Omnia HD was very advanced from the start. -------------------------------------- 6.no firmware updates from samsung. 7.samsung has quit symbian OS. -------------------------------------- And with good reason, Nokia bought out the Symbian Foundation, also S60v5 is a dead duck with no future upgrade path, even Nokia are dumping S60v5 and S^3. ------------------------------------------------­------ 8.no free voice voice guided navigation like we have in nokia ------------------------------------------------­------ But we do have samsung LBS re: Route 66, granted we have to pay for a licence for voice turn by turn but its still an option. Of course If you have flashed your Omnia HD with HX v11 you to can have Ovi Maps 3.04 with full maps downloaded from Ovi Suite or Nokia Map Loader straight on to your Omnia HD, works great to. ------------------------------------------------­--- 9.no eye candy UI 10. On point 10, TouchWiz 2.0 is far more easier to use than Nokia's own attempt for S60v5, i mean come on double tap on a touch screen? gees even LG with their Flash Based EFS OS in the Viewty had single tap with their resistive screens but Nokia thought it would be nice to have double tap ... loopy hey On point 11, big deal, install Opera Mobile 10.1 and away you go, that said the S60v5 browser does play Flash Lite 4.1 which is good for certain flash based video sights including YOUTUBE. On points 12 & 13, seriously every mobile looses value even Apple IPHONES loose value. On point 14, HX patcher takes care of that as it allows installation of Ovi Store app which means you can have both S^3 and S60v5 based apps on the Omnia HD, a.k.a Need For speed Shift, QuickOffice and even again Ovi Maps. On points 15 & 16, Samsung does indeed provide 12 months warranty, so yes they are still supporting the service side of the Omjia HD provided its recite sales date is within 12 months of original purchase, so got no idea what your blabbering on about. At the end of the day, the Omnia HD in march 2009 was KING, even the IPHONE 3Gs could not match it spec wise, it took nokia 18 months to release the Nokia N8 and even then the only thing it beat it on was 12MP cam v 9MP cam, yes the Omnia HD is now out of date but with custom roms like Feneli and HX v11 the Omnia HD can still be a very powerfull peice of equipment that can still go in terms of performance.

As far as the 720p recording goes, after overclocking, it gives a smooth 23.97 fps (NTSC spec) framerate, as a result of which the videos look awesome. Its still photo quality is equivalent to that of INNOV8. At the time of its release no other phone came even remotely close to it.

The resolution is 640 X 360 not 640 X 480. After modding the phone u can overclock the CPU to 950 MHz (though 900 MHz is more stable). People have even run NFS Shift HD after overclocking. Oh,and one more thing, this was the first phone to support 720p video recording. If this is not one for the history books, nothing is.

You make it sound like this phone is literally a dinosaur. Yes in the past two years it has been way outdated for sure, but is still an epic phone and huge placement in phone history! There are way better phones now and yes Samsung quitting on it is the biggest draw back, but the phone by no means at all sucks. Also just because we now have super amoled plus does not mean amoled is bad. It still outdoes lcd and a billion companies still use lcd. There are also still many phones only getting 600mhz cpus that cant record hd. And 20fps in 720p for the first 720p phone and up to 24fps is decent. Lastly with custom roms that help give it better software to use the full potential of the hardware it runs really smooth.

Used i8910 in best condition like new is costing around 8000 to 9000 rupees in mumbai with full accessories and box. Price will further go down with all new high end phone coming to the market. Also n8 used is 12000 to 14000 rupees.

Yes, every application and many more others work after flashing. However, as evry1 else says, be very careful while flashing and do it according to the given instructions. If u fail to do so, u will obviously have a very shiny brick labelled as Samsung. Rgds ;-)

Ok people, I'm here to confirm that 32gb microsdhc cards work perfectly well with our beloved i8910. No issues as yet. I bought myself a class 10 lexar 32gb microsdhc with $140, and I can say it is blazing fast. I mean the video now records at a constant speed of 24fps. Well, i also have n204 installed. My dad just bought the HTC Desire HD, but I will stick to this phone as i8910 is an overall champion. The speakers, battery life and screen for example is unparallel. Thats it for now. Rgds!

Okay, if you have the i8910 theres still hope. Update the firmware yourself with Hyperx HXv11. You'll be happy you did. You can also try SPB mobile shell as an add on launcher. I find its quite good. That said I would never buy another samsung product again. Their total lack of support reeks of short sighted greed. "We have your money now sucker, hah ha ha ha." - at least thats what it feels like.

Very simple, if you own a Omnia HD with standard firmware then upgrade to Hyper X custom HX-V11 rom, it turns the Omnia Hd from a somewhat mobile ionto a super smartphone, giving the end user the best of 4 worlds: 1: Nokia N8 2: SE Vivaz 3: Moto Millstone 4: Samsung Omnia HD Once you adjust the CPU power levels via the HX Patcher the Omnia HD basically craps all over the Nokia H8 in all but HDMI port and FM Transmiiter but everything else is there and more like portrait qwerty keyboard with swype. If you look at the hardware specs between the N8 and Omnia HD its amazing that it took Nokia some 16 months to basically match the Omnia HD Things like CPU (with the HX Patch) and RAM plus major mods to S60v5 make the Omnia HD far more better than the N8, the only thing the N8 has going for it is S^3 and Ovi Store 2.0 as my Omnia HD has Ovi Maps, Ovi store (1.0) and a few more things. That said, its getting old now and Android has taken over, shame that Hyper X or Fenneli have not tried to hack the Omnia HD bootloader and try to install an Android rom onto it as the hardware can still go in todays mobile world.

for last 2 years not only di i buy one I8910 for myself but a second one for family memeber this phone is superb in every espect battery wise i di what many have posted here total discharge and recharge for 4 consecutive times now it last with moderate usage 3 days 1 hr of music non bluetooth, 40 min phone calls occasional google maps for my location,most impressive is the music player crisp and loud the 2 speakers sure do help 16 GB plus 16 in micro sd is enough for my needs never had any problem witht he first one bough upon its release in china , MY biggest gripe is that Samsung is slow to non existand updates matter of fact shiitty would be better put,did i mention i tried the nokia N8 only to return it within 3 hrs terrible phone as far as the case itself the 3.5 jack sorrounded by plastic craked upon inserting the headset now that sammy stopped support for this flagship i am at a loss of words sammy why did you abandon us ?????

The best custom rom is from faenil n204 the queen. After flash the firmware don't forget to install qt 4.7.1 it makes my phone run smooth and faster no need to overclock. You can install additional function or just leave it depends on your needs. This is true great firmware just try it and you can see the different.

Yes, its me from the X10 forum. Yes, this i8910 is a fantastic phone. You may have a trial free GPS time. But normally u must pay to use route66 GPS. AGPS is not needed. Or get the hack flash from hyperX which will clock the cpu to 950mz and allow you to use all Nokia apps and a free Ovi GPS maps. Also all SE symbian apps. Also gives swipe typing technology. Once you do this flash, it puts the phone alongside any new smartphone. Great battery life and no bugs like Android phones.

I've owned this phone for a year now. I had big problems with touch screen when I first got it was sent back to 3 times for repair before problem was actually fixed. But now I LOVE IT! I was thinking of upgrading but nothing seems worth while compared to this phone. Should I put Hyper X V11 on this phone? I have no real problems with how it is but I hear it's so much better with HX? Any advice?

last week i bought the new nokia N8 so disappointed i bought back my venerable I8910 i had sold to a friens prior to the i8910 for 2 yrs i used the I8510 innov ,from personal experience i must say samsung is without adoubt shittyy on updates both the I8910 and I8510 are the most superb phones i have in my inventory wich consist of nokia 95 5310 and my trusted E90 not to bash the N8 but after 3 days the input 3.5 jack the plastic simply broke open so much for quality if thats how nokia now builts phones i'll take my chances anyday with samsung n8 music played is not as loud as samsungs camera who used all 12 mgpix good pics are taken with seting of 4 bye bye nokia untill you make better phones

Same problem with my omnia hd, via pc studio i never got update so i installed hx-v11 and along with spb shell the phone is superb.Regarding the guarantee, of course i lost it but it's only for function problems (and not for breaking it by your mistake).I you don't have function problems so far, i recomend to install hx-v11 (hx-custom-roms.com) and enjoy this monsterous phone.

using N-8 for one week. excellent camera with nice responsive screen. Never hanged till I installed Swype (from ovi store) .didnot restart till I tried to use speed dial. I was using Omnia HD till date ( I purchased because of symbians, but online support by samsung is totally disappointing). N8 is real value for money. I own both the omnia HD and the n8, and I'd have to say that the n8 is worth the upgrade, the only con is that at max settings on each, the omnia HD still has a slighttllyyy brighter screen.

I am really confused,too.Omnia HD or Wave?Wave is on the top of the list,has nice software,although,as I know ,there are less apps for it then for Symbian.Omnia HD has 8Mp camera (which is important to me) and does have some optics (some "HD lens")-I havent noticed that Wave has any.Also Wave is updated for HD video recording,Omnia is made for it.Wave 30fps omnia 24fps...I heard some very bad stories and some very good stories about OmniaHD.Some people say that its software is problematic but it has been updated so no more problems with recording sound and camera problems.So,which one?I would like to hear as much as more details since none of them is cheap nor I am planing to change my phone in next 3-4 years.

The Nokia N8 and the Omnia HD are both good phones! But it depends on your taste! OmniaHD will only let yu down in the lack of third party apps, outdated OS and zero samsung support, but apart from that insignificant stuff, its the best multimedia device available! The Nokia N8 will only let you down in the lack of third party apps, lack of a competitive OS, no video light and screen size! But if you can look past those shortcomings then you have a device which rivals the OmniaHD in multimedia features! The choice is yours, and im not sure if this will help your decision, but there are custom firmwares available for your OmniaHD which make it alot better abd there will soon be some for the N8!

I disagree with that statement! The Omnia can't be outclassed by any device but it isnt better than them! The sound quality on the N8 is much better than the i8910 and when i say sound quality i'm talking but crisp and clear vocals balancesd bass and no distortions whatsoever! But the i8910 is a bit louder than the N8! As for the camera and the flash, thats dependant on the user, if the user is spontaneous and needs to capture many unique moments xenon wont be his choice, but for someone a bit more subtle xenon is the ideal choice! The i8910 may have a larger display but Nokia N8 perfected the flaws of the i8910 display in terms of sunlight legibility and touch response! the N8 has better HD recording algorithms and web rendering algorithms, the addition of multitocuh makes it a better gaming and user friendly device! The i8910 is the best multimedia device in the market to date, since there is no device which supports as many formats and plays them so loud and beautifully! I prefer watching HD movies on my i8910 than my laptop any day! But the facts are the facts and i have no intention of parting ways with my Omnia HD but the Nokia N8 is an upgrade of sorts!!

Soulchild, I just got back as well! I see most in here are either talking bout new firmware for the OmniaHD or which phone will be a good upgrade! Galaxy S 2 sounds interesting though, but i decided that i'll be upgrading to the Nokia N8. My decision is both of personal taste and local marketplace. Our Omnia is second to no device but i'm having a hard time getting it sold, where as when i owned the Nokia n80 n n95 8GB i sold them in no time! So i am going with the Nokia N8 since i know when the next "must have" device hits the market i can easily get rid of it and upgrade. The Galaxy S, Iphone 4, HTC Desire HD will stay in my hand a rot before someone from Saint Lucia buys it from me LOL!! Not saying they are bad phones but they are not popular! Plus i wanna be one of the first ppl to experience the new symbian when the updates start rolling out :)

Sajad, The Nokia N8 is an upgrade from the OmniaHD! Name one device which has all the multimedia strength of the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD! The Nokia N8! If you bought the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD for what it can do, then buying any device apart from the Nokia N8 will served to be less than adequate! The Nokia N8 has picked up where the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD left off and improved where it failed! I admit its not the best device available, but it is the best multimedia device available! The iPhone, Samsung Epic 4G, HTC Desire HD and any other iOS or Android device will hands down beat the N8 at web-browsing, texting, user-friendliness, speed and power but most of these devices lack basic smartphone functionality such as bluetooth file transfer, poor loudspeaker output, browser flash support, no file manager, no memory card slot, no desktop client like Ovi Suite, Poor reception, OTA upgrades and updates, UDP [user data preservation], no multitasking and restricted media formats! I can't sacrifice any of these basic functions just to have a smooth UI experience! Its an unfair sacrifice too me....i'll stick with symbian and MeeGo! So i'm getting the Nokia N8!

The phone uses standard Java, Sis, Sisx, Wgz which I think is the wigit flash type applications. Many of Nokia files & themes work S60 V5. Mobilesmania is a good site for software, themes and other support.

I love the I8910, I've been using the N95 for 3 years previously. Buying the i8910 in 2010 is currently affordable, while i think its hardware is better that many of Nokia's high end devices which cost three times as much. Together with the benefits of custom firmware helps a great deal. With some additional tweaks, using OVI maps & other nokia software is easy. Battery power like with the N95 is a slight issue however i get much better performance with the I8910 with much better, A day's use of the camera, video recording, gps, calls etc & it lasts without having to worry too much about the power running out, just charge at the end of the day & your all right. I have to say samsung appears to be the letdown while the development community (hx & others) has kept the phone going. I think a few final improvement & a few ports of symbian 3 functions could keep this phone going for years instead of having to get those new fancy expensive devices. It would have been nice to have symbian 3 on this as the phone is quite capable but its probably too much work to develop this. If i stayed with Nokia, I might have got the X6 which in comparison is more expensive & inferior device. Thankfully samsung released this phone which was in its time miles ahead of the rest & still is in many ways.

In my opinion i believe that symbian days are over. It was a powerful OS when it first arrived but today there are so many other amazing OS's to consider. Android software is amazing. Overclocking is usually unstable but since it was introduced to the i8910 i haven't seen any instability!! But like i said, i love tweaking and modding and since symbian is the pinnacle of modding and tweaking i tend to lean towards symbian!! Umar Khan, Android is as open as symbian! and the nokia n8 jsut like the n80, n82, n85 and n86 were all meant to be high-end camera phones, whilst the n95 was meant to be groundbreaking.... i was hoping the n97 would have impressed but that apparently was never goin to happen... the camera was not impressive, the hardware was not fresh or even really updated, hopefully symbian^4 or meego will be the answer! i have using the HTC G1 but i was not impressed with android at that point, i owned the iphone 3G and i thought it was a high tech blackberry (with all its restrictions and limitations).... i used the HTC HD2 and the Omnia II but winmo is just not worth the effort!! Android i would consider as an alternative but i love multimedia devices as much as i like high end tech.... so i'll give the n8 a run because of its great camera, HD recording and great audio output along with lots on user memory and seeing what modders did with my i8910 i am really curious as to what is possible with the n8!!

Overclocking is one thing that too is not stable IMO. What i have heard of Android, i think its as open as symbian and devs have been working hard on it eversince. I too have used symbian long enough that disliking or quitting seems not possible at all but ftm will nt buy it until they come up with sm grounbreaking tech. Looking forward to meego, hope it will be enough to bring the long lost pride back. But Symbian^3 is smthg raw lacks the ability to stick the users together.

Used both 3G and 3gs for over a month respectively but being a eternal symbian user i was not impressed at all. 1 of the major flaw was a tiny cam. I was really looking forward to n8 but after doing sm hw i think it is what i have been using all these years so just for a change i want to switch to something which is More customisable and more of a eye candy. In comes the Android, browsing speed and a standout UI is worth a try, atleast this is smthg that i have convinced myself with.

Mo, Skyfire has full flash support so yes u can watch online movies using skyfire.... i have watched Transformers 2 abd even Alice in wonderland on my i8910 using skyfire!!! the quality is great and it fits the screen perfectly with a double tap!! I have also watched live games from the FIFA World Cup 2010 using skyfire so trust me it handles flash content just like a PC..... especially if ur 3G or WiFi connection is fast!!!

As your already aware of the NO SUPPORT scene from SAMMYS there is nthg much left to explain. Video and Photos are pretty awesome depending on the custom ROM your running. Touchscreen is very responsive and browsing speed is great too. Flash runs smooth(older version). If you dont want to go with one of the newer ones than this is the right phone with respect to features. It delivers big time.

hi! guys from india, what gps application are you guys using? i need one which uses only gps and not a data connection.. I used route66 before but once i switched over to custom firmwares, upon installing route66, it finds my gps position but it says street not digitized.. earlier when i was on DDIG3, it would show me everything properly.. roads and places in india.. now i dont get any of it.. so is there a way to get that? or would any of u suggest a better alternative (with a download link please)? please note, i dont want an app which asks for a data connection (cant afford it :P )

Yeah, this phone is good as dead. Even HyperX and Faenil are showing signs that they wont support i8910 anymore. They are moving to N8. Sadly, they were the only ones keeping our phone alive. Damn. And this Forum is getting silent already when it was once very alive. But! There's SGS waiting in the corner. I'd probably buy that because I like most of its features especially the screen.

dude i agree with u.. i wish samsung do as u say.. i've bought this mobile 3 months ago, before i was very happy becoz it runs on nokia OS as symbian and i thinked that there will be thousand of software available for this phone, for the first time i was going to use Symbian OS, but now i'm very disappointed becoz hardly i could install few applications, while installing applicatios there always comes an error showing "expired certificate" and "cert error" so bad..:-( OMNIA HD's hardware is very very good, camera and it's speed as compare to nokia mobiles but sometime i think it's hardware is useless becoz one can't install more and more applicatios.. bada OS has a lot of applications as compare to Omnia HD.. samsungapps.com shows almost 1217 applicatios available for bada OS and only 141 for Omnia HD.. so sad for me..:-(

I have read back thru comments but you have to remember samsung built the fone HYPER X made the fone ROCK,,if it was in samsungs sorry state this would have been binned years ago,why should a third party have to come along and fix a problem plus he has not got the original code,unless samsung gave it him,so hes working sort of twice as hard.I loved the i8910 but the lip sync video recording made me sell it 3 times,i bought it 3 times,..I could ask this hyper x to sort out all our troubles but why should he?? the companys should do that . My advice is have you put spb shell on c-drive,,if not then that could be the problem..All your ringtones/message tones themes and wallpaper should go to the c-drive..That goes against my opinion on n97 cause of c-drive space BUT if we are talking about a few KB wallpaper ringtones and basic theme thats ok.

U got a faulty phone, none of those things happens to me and most i8910 users. This phone is great. The phone touch works with any part of your body so the phone is probably being activated through your thighs touching the screen through your pocket material. hahahah, a fanboy in disguise :) To be honest the iphone 4 is nice, but the omnia HD is 2 years old and still can compete with the latest creation of Apple. Not to mention that Symbian is an open OS, the samsung has USB, DLNA, FLASH, microSD and even today a gorgeous display. I'm very pleased with my omnia HD and wouldn't trade it for an Apple, any Apple.

True, the iphone 4 is good. My bro in law just got one and the quality of the screen, photo's and hd recording are of much higher quality than this phone. It looks very clear and crisp compared to the omnia. But then again it's an iphone and i'm not comfortable with an iphone as my personal mobile.

Remember how iam always talking about how me and those iphone boys to work always fighting? Well they now have the iphone 4 and let me tell you guys its really a nice phone. You all no that iam not a iphone fanboy but for the first time at work my phone was put to rest. On the side of the iphone 4 my screen looked blurry and pixelated, I was in shock cause I could have never imagine a screen the could make i8910 look like that. There's no built in opera browser 9.5 in this phone. You can download latest opera browser 10 and install it to your phone. It's a good browser but no flash plug in but it's better for surf the internet than the built in browser. Opera browser has tab function and it's very fast, i love the browser cause it compatible with 256 mb ram in omnia hd. You cannot use this browser with 128 mb ram cause it use lot of ram.

After changing my firmwares to the latest hyperx firmwares from n203, my camera photos come out very blurry, if someone i take a picture is moving ever so slightly, it get blurred. I have FENIL, and i fixed my problem :) i found installation of that application that wasnt working...it was SPB Mobile Shell v3.5, and its awesome program, much better then samsung's original layout, with all cool widgets and shortcuts... THANK YOU FOR TRYING TO HELP ME! ALL BEST! :)

why don't you just reset your phone to its original settings. Just type *#7370# on the phone dialer keypad. It will reformat the phone. But be sure to backup your contacts only.

hey frends, i am no more with i8910 anymore as mine has been shattered by Samsung care.. guys who are from India, lemme warn u before u start flashing your devices.. do it properly and follow all steps stated by Andy(Hyperx) or Faenil, if in case your handset faces any hardware issues after that Samsung care will not be able to help you, they don�t repair parts instead just replace the complete motherboard if they have.. unfortunately, they don�t have motherboard of this specy as Samsung has stopped manufacturing this phone.. so if your phone is under warranty you may take chances but if not beware it may turn into a crap.. mine was 11months old (under warranty) so i am getting complete refund as they are not able to replace motherboard.. well everybody is not so lucky as i am.. once i get refund in 15 days will go for the media monster Nokia n8.. best of luck for your future custom Roms.. i hope we will see some revolutionary things once Symbian 3 comes out..

No matter what people say about the wave, bigger screen is much more imp, plus wave looks like a sissy phone. FF, the firmwares are very similiar and now there are very few unique things about either, before faenil firmwares where alot more stable tha hyperx but now hyperx firwares are very stable, hyperx also tends to have more stuff addding apart from porting stuff from other devices and faenil works hard at being the first at everthing from adding frame rate fix, kinetic scrolling and now Qt so they both have ther advantages and disadvantages but from the moment i flashed to HX-V5 i have not had any urge to even go back to my n203

@8910,9000 I love i8910 but i have to say Galaxy S is better even without Flash its still good. The Galaxy S Epic is even better because it has flash and slide key board, but its Cdma and can't work with GSM networks. I really hope Samsung makes a GSM version.

@HAN Hey, video recording on the wave should be better because it @30fps and i8910 is @24 with hyperX. Still shorts the i8910 should look better. Screen wise the i8910 is bigger but the wave has the best looking screen on the planet. Don't get me wrong the i8910 has a monster of a screen also. So if size matters than get omnia HD. As far as apps go am still not buying this Bada thing so I don't think the wave has the edge as far as apps go, cause with hyperX you can get almost any app you want. I have to say Omnia HD but you know what you are looking for so the choice is yours. Hope this helped.

Man, i have used both.. well as far as screen is concerned, bigger size makes it better to watch movies, and you will feel it when you see it in i8910.. and i have used wave and its speed really suckzz.. i mean UI lags a bit.. Camera and battery after advance settings are no less.. Multi-touch, i would definitely say that wave has a upper hand.. Otherwise both are masterpieces, not to be compared..

hi foxie. just search hx v7 on youtube. the videos there will tell you where to download the softwares from and also show the procedure to install. My advice is either download the video for guidance or watch it side by side while installing. bye & take care.

Which is better? the Wave has better hardware but smaller screen. That said, the Omnia HD when used with HX Custom Rom like HX-V8 turns the Omnia HD into a Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung 3 in 1 mobile. You also get access to Ovi maps and ovi Store to download apps That said, the Wave is probably a better choice because Nokia could shut down the loophole at any given time and also the wave has its own app store to download from whereas the Omnia HD in standard firmware does not.

Hi Experts: I installed CFW on my phone. When installation completed phone reboot. Samsung log appeared and it start blinking. I wait for few minutes and than I took out battery put it back an turned it ON. But the result was same. I did it again for couple of times and finaly phone refused to turn ON. @Ember, Flashing to HXv7 you would get kinetic strolling every were, the cpu is clocked at the full 600mhz. No singing of apps, its fully hacked meaning you can install Ovi store and install almost all the apps there. Plus lots more apps not made for this phone. You will get a better UI and a much more advance phone. The original firmware that comes with the phone or even if updated with pc studio is outdated. Hxv7 is the way to go, its the reason why the ratings are going up. Let me no what you think.

Mo if i had known u were a fellow gamer i would have metioned the bios :) but from my experience it only supports GBA roms, i have tried GameBoy Color roms but they dont work.... also my Bios file seems to be corrupted can u possibly upload ur bios file so that i can download it...

Dexter, I from the caribbean as well [St. Lucia] and i have had this phone for..... a year now and have had no software or hardware issues with it... as another user stated, we all use custom roms instead of the samsung firmwares... u can find info on those custom roms here - and .... the camera is great, the battery has always lasted over 4 days with regular usage..... signal quality and call quality are great.... i'm on Digicel network.... so if u r thinking of getting this phone, the do so..... u may want to wait for another upcoming device...seeing that this one is over a year old

Walkman, Skype works fine on the i8910HD its just it only supports certain carriers from certain regions mainly UK so download the skype app [not from ur phone browser] and install it!!

Mo U also need the GBA_BIOS in order to run games using the gpspsymbian emulator... try googling it.... it should come as a .bin file so if u download it as a .rar or .zip file u must extract it first.... copy to ur phone and load in the gpspsymbian emulator where it says load bios

Greeting everyone, I'm in Trinidad in the West Indies (Caribbean) and about to purcahse the Omnia HD. But I've read some some user's reviews from England telling about battery life problems, freezing, e-mail and several other issues. One guy said he replaced the firware with IG2 (Irish option) firmware and everthing is great. It seems that the Orange firmware is causing problems according to some of these users. I'm not sure what firmware my handset will have but it will be brought in from the US. If I experience problems with my new phone should I attempt to upgrade or change the firmware? But i am very interested in the upcoming Nokia N8 since really like symbian! Those who are using the HX-V7 or n203 firmwares there are alot more improvements to come n both modders will be porting new stuff from upcoming and existing devices to make the whole user experince better, u are in very capable hands!! It was fun while it lasted but... at things must come to an -end!! P.S. I really like the HX-V7 firmware especially with the HXPatcher.... HyperX really puts his heart n soul into this phone...

But, if the service center dont want to give you all the spare parts new(e.g. battery charger, battery etc...) then they might ask you to bring ur used phone box and unpack the new phone in front of you This is my suggestion but others may have better idea... Krishna, hamid is correct a new device would have a different IMEI number.... the IMEI can only be different if the IMEI on ur old I8910 was flashed to a different one... or the were actually given a new i8910!!

It should have a graphics card or accelerator as all high spec Samsung phone's these days do come with it standard especially due to it's need for projecting. The phone has a fast processor with a lot of ram generally to help the graphics run smoother. Although i am still uncertain as they do not mention it on this and other websites. The 800mhz processor does not have a certain name like arm cortex like the omnia hd which comes standard with a graphics card. Perhaps it has the same graphics accelerator as the omnia 2 as they have the same speed processor. The graphics will mainly produce better game graphics and makes it run smoother just like a normal pc. Although the omnia hd has it, it has not been put to much use as none of the apps or games has demanded much of the graphics card.

for me.. Omnia HD is better than Samsung Wave. HD more for Multimedia usage and running on Symbian OS. Very practically and u can find many 3rd party software for it. Wave more than stylish (slim design) and its running on new OS (Bada). So hard to find any application and themes for it. The pros only 1Ghz and SuperAmoled screen. BTW, from the 1st launch (price) u may know which one is more quality manufacturing (RnD) between Omnia HD and Samsung Wave.. Sorry for my broken english..

hmm.. U shouldn't have flashed yr phone after your phone failed to reboot. A few times that hapenned to me. It was either caused by my phone left on charging or my memory card was not responding. After taking it off charge, removing my battery and sim card, removing my memory card, this generally solved my problem. If that doesn't work, try the reset button at the bottom of the phone, if that fails try hamid's approach. Another reason could be that u had a virus on yr phone which could be dealt with by an antivirus on yr pc. If u hard reset yr phone will be like brand new as long as your phone was not disconnected or u suffered power loss in some way while flashing.

Hey Ppl!!was on tour abroad so im joining bk to this forum after quite some time.OK,first things first..to pick up from where i left off.i have confirmed from Samsung after much R&D,the latest official firmware for SOHD in India is DDIG5.Stock devices are running DDIG3.there was a DDIG4 also which stayed on for a short while but never saw daylight.Nw the bad news..u wont be able to upgrade with crappy PC Suite 7..u will have to visit the main samsung service center(if ur lucky,else all service center.esp. samsung employ dimwits by default) It'll take about 2 hrs n u'll have to leave ur device with them fr the same.I'll be getting my upgrade today..n if u do wanna play it safe..watch this space.i'll put up a review of the same asap. cheers!!

Oh didn't see, the galaxy S has 512 ram with 2gb rom (WOW!) compared to the beam with 384MB RAM, 512MB ROM. Still beam is a very good phone, prefer the beam.

What do you'll think of the galaxy beam? I think its the ultimate phone out there! The only advantage the galaxy S has over the beam is the 200mhz faster processor. Other then that the beam has a flash, projector, larger battery, smaller screen like omnia's(not too big) and standard at 16gb memory. Great phone!

In my booklet about divx video it says Divx certified to play divx video up to 640 x 480,including premium content.. I cannot find out a frame rate but suspect it would be 30fps..This info may help someone..Also when i used nokia pc suite to convert video to play on a device it was poor and pixelly...Kies has a video converter in it but have not tried it..

Just to test that out i tried connecting to the Updater and it started up fine but when it got to the part where it detects the phone it fails saying " No phone is connected" so i tried it on my windows xp since it has all the drivers, but still no dice!! So i guess its not possible, and also if u intend on flashing from a Cooked ROM to an official firmware release then u need to know that the prcedures are very slightly different!!

Real player is crap as far as converting is concerned... I convert my videos with the COWON Media Center - jetAudio...and i generally convert my videos in avi formats... But if u have the real player sp, convert ur vids in mp4 for iphone not for cell phone or the n97 or others...

On the topic, does anyone know what will happen if i convert a normal movie with a resolution of say 300x400 with a frame rate of 23fps to: 1.) A resolution of 720x1280 2.) A frame rate of 30fps Will it increase or decrease the quality? It can't possibly increase but will it make a diff? Should it be converted to a lower resolution instead of a higher one? That's what i believe. Also whats the best quality format that supports this phone?

FPS = frames per second oh my goodness,,it took me a long while to learn all this lot about video formats...I could not understand why one nokia fone could play this qcif video in 2004 but the other model still 2004 could and after about a couple of years i found out after a lot of research,, the bitrate was different..I had a qcif 15fps .MP4 video 90 seconds long and all the problems boiled down to bitrate and i can remember the models,,nokia 7610 would not play it but 6630 would..yet both only recorded 15fps ,mp4 qcif videos. there is video size sub qcif at the bottom quality = 124 x 96 pixels thru to the normal vga nowadays =640 x 480 pixels.. there is types of video .3gpp,.3gp,.mp4,.MP4,mkv,divx,avi and more then there is fps from 7fps on my sharp gx30 to 120 slomo on some samsungs this last setting on some machines selects quality and that can alter bitrate.. It is a nightmare so after buying the sandisk v-mate ive never looked back..You plug it into tele and into a record source such as dvd player ,,set the settings i use qvga 25fps medium quality and tape onto micro sd card or sd or memory stick and its done.. Someone will know the best settings for omnia hd but it could be an odd resolution for eg nokia 5800 had a setting of 240 x 180 for it to play at its best,or something like that..Video formats my goodnes its a science on its own..

Orignal Firmwares are available on the internet and you can download em to your phone almost the same way we do cooked ROMS. I had my official FW upgrade interupted whilst in booting mode, had to download orignal version inorder to upgrade again to offcial italian version.By mistake though, i downloaded the russian version :)

Samsung has been embarrassed as far as i am concerned by hyperx..Maybe Samsung has give up if he is doing so good at it why should they bother..Samsung should give him a lump sum of cash for his work..I like Samsung for a lot of reasons but if they carry on this behaviour people will stop buying their smartfones..Why should someone else have to pick up the dirty work.. Oh ya, during the call unlock the phone and press any button like the volume or menu buttons just to check whether its working, maybe yr power saving settings are too short.

Your phone automatically gets locked when calling and receiving. So u have to unlock it and just press the loudspeaker icon or the menu button to activate the menu, 2 activate the numpad press the dialer button. If your screen remains blank after unlocking yr phone then something is wrong with yr phone.

I love the i8910 omnia and sincerely wish that Samsung would do something to keep it on the top. They seem to have forgotten about this phone, at least in India. It is better than the iPhone as far as I'm concerned. Only wish that Samsung would bring out updates and more applications for this phone quickly.

Fahad, Once u flash your phone to a custom firmware, u cannot update your phone to any official Samsung firmware. That's the crap thing about flashing yr phone, anyways the latest stale Samsung's firmware is crap, rather stick to custom firmware that's continuously being improved thanks to Faenil and HyperX.

I am getting the 32 gb in next month but it could be that samsung only tested the omnia hd at the card available at that time ..The n95-1 was only ever tested to hold a 2gb card yet upgrades allowed it to handle the 16gb card..All s/e A200 platform are tested to 32gb and i would think power of omnia will handle it but will take a while to refresh memory.. The 32gb card is out of stock where i buy it but due in ETA 5-7 days and i am pre-ordered so give shipping times etc should have it within 10 days subject to usual delays and everything..If your still on here over next few weeks i will be able to test it for real..The fones software has to be told to recognise the 32gb card thats all and with a top T.I. 3420 chip more powerfull than segas dreamcast it could handle more..

I have the phone for almost a year.it can match n8 if symbian os^3 is imported.good camera,good video,perfect screen(except when in sunlight),the best quality i have ever seen.But i wouldn't recommend it.not good signal,mediocre call quality and of course NO support!!!you have to break the warranty to make it faster!better look for iphone if you want apps,speed,support or nokia for a good phone,well supported but average-good in every aspect!

Hum...tempered glass is crack/scratch resistant, more so crack than scratch.It can still be scratched quite easily with keys, so if it stands up to a scalpel they probably did something else to it to make it more scratch resistant. The down side is if the phone gets hit on its side, while you might get a crack across a regular screen (I've noticed many phones come into my buddies shop are still usable with screen cracks), tempered glass is designed to shatter into a million tiny pieces that will probably cause additional damage to the phone than the initial impact. But that only matters to people who dont take care of their phone. I on the other hand wouldn't mind a tempered glass screen.

OMG, the perfect phone may be on its way! Samsung Epic is in the works, it has the same specs as the Galaxy S and it has a flash. This is great news for persons like me who were turned off by the lack of a flash on the Galaxy S. Trust me guys Samsung is taking over the phone market. Now Samsung just give us the HDMI output like the N8 and the Evo. Lol we are so demanding. Yes we no the DLNA is very good. This is what I have been waiting for. I like the Evo but its not Amoled so thats kills it for me. If you have ever had a Amoled screen I dont see how you can go back. The iphone 4's screen looks almost as good but this time around the screen is just to small for me. The HTC incredible is nice to but its the same size as my i8910, i want bigger. The Epic is 4" with a super Amoled screen. I will wait to see what happens.

I don't think it's possible to get scratch proof glass. I believe it has a greater resistance to getting scratched then a normal screen.

Hamid, within a month i got a nasty scratch on my screen and later on a few more minor ones, bought a shield protector called shield guard or something, placed it on as carefully as i could but but bubbles formed everywhere, so i wasted it. No idea how those scratches appeared as i am very careful with my phone but the one scratch is really annoying me, it has a bit of texture, i recommend a screen-guard to those who are less careful.

Hey all, what kind of screen protector do you all use? I installed the ZAGG full-body one about a week ago but dont like that my screen now feels a little squishy like a resistive screen and there are a couple of spot where the adhesive liquid wont evaporate that are distorting a color a little bit. Possible due to poor installation on my part. And my finger doesn't slide along the screen quite as well, most just causes problems when using SlideIT to text. However i love the tackyness on the rest of the phone it feels much more sturdy in my hand but still look slick and shiney.

The Samsung Omnia HD has been our HD recorder, 8MP digital camera, MP3 player, GPS Navigator, Portable Hard Drive, Pocket PC and PSP.... I know Samsung dropped the ball but nun of us really bought this phone because it was a Samsung.... we either bought cuz we already like symbian or the specs [HD recording, 8MP camera, 3.7" screen].... I personally has always been a Symbian and Nokia fan... But this was way better than the 5800 n N97 combined... Now i finally get the Nokia i'm waiting for Nokia N8... Android is not my cup of tea... Remember if you got it as used the battery has been in the fone for a while..The omnia HD has pretty good battery for what it has to supply ..What i mean is if you buy second hand often the battery has been used a lot and may need a new one.

The Samsung Vibrant is coming out its the same as the Galaxy S, so am waiting to see if it will have flash and HDMI output like the Droid X and the Evo. If the Evo was super AMOLED their would be no question in my mind as of which one to get. The galaxy S lack of a flash kills it for me. I hope the Vibrant has one even tho I dont think its likely.

No, only go to matches in my city which is Durban. Went to the Nigeria vs Korea match and took one video before my battery died, sitting pretty far away so can't really tell whats happening, wished this phone had optical zoom!. Hopefully I will go to the game of Brazil vs Portugal and Round 16, will test the video recording there.

Mo, the secret menu code is *#0002*28346# ... go to 3.Record then to 4. CamcordARM_AMR then set the Tx MicAmp to 18 db(type 18 then #)back... And set the Tx Channel to 15 db dont forget to hit the "6.back up" while exiting the secret menu... i found these are the best setting for normal environments... BUT for such a loud environments like the stadiums its better to set the Tx Channel to 12db instead of 15... Good luck

Symbios mate, I've been with symbian and nokias frm the day 1 i bought my first smartphone... And to telling the truth the reason i bought the ohd was exactly like yours...i didnt like the n97 specs... nokia's support is the best out there i admit that, but mate you cant say its still the best os out there... from the day the n95 was the king of all smartphones till now many rules have changed the symbian s60 v3(non touch) is still the best os IMO but nokia wanted to launch their first s60 touch phone (5800) without spending much time and resources to make a proper os and the result is, the s60 v5... what im saying is very simple , the s60 v5 is just the old fashioned v3 but touch enabled...lol on the other hand we never had any experience with the symbian ^3 though...but being realistic, from the videos ive watched i just found another v5 but a bit sexier... thats why i recommend others for now its better to go for an Android phone But maybe im wrong and i should wait for some in-depth reviews of the n8... dude, i do appreciate yours and other people's thoughts... And, maybe i will be the first one who goes to buy the n8 who knows?;) Cheers

Have n203 and my battery lasts much less than n202. Don't have spb shell (symbian is simpler). Don't know why this is happening, also my auto-focus is not working so well with n203. Could possibly be due to Faenil increasing the ram and making it faster.

For how long will the Omnia HD shoot HD video continuously on a fully charged battery and empty memorystorage? 2. Which will run out first, the battery or memorystorage? 3. Is there imposed a video length limit(30min.) like for digital camera in europe? 4. I think it great but it seems that battery life is not as good as n202, it may be due to the fact that I have SPB shell running all the time. Guys please tell me what I missed. I will get the Samsung Galaxy S. I love the Super Amoled and I want to try Android, but the only thing I cant stand is the fact that it has no flash. Many people look at this phone and say there's a better phone coming out with better specs but it all fails in comparison. My friend said the Vivas is a much better phone so he bought it and regretted it so badly although it has all the same specs,the samsung quality is great, everything about this phone is great. 98% of people that bought it love their phone and have no regrets what so ever. Personally before i buy a phone, i look up every option, compare it to every phone and spec, watch videos etc. of the phone to get a good idea of it. I chose this phone and completely love it, It can do almost anything i want it 2 do. Hamid, I agree that android is more flexible!! Nokia has always made the most complete device is my opinion!! The only reason i bought the i8910 is becuz the n97 wasn't better!! I have been awaiting the Nokia n98 and i guess the N8 is just that!! Nokia are the most complete in terms of support ease of use!! OTA firmware updates, OTA software updates, Ease of hacking n modding!! Plus there is alot more forum support for Nokia than any other device!!! I see much hasn't changed!! Ppl are still comparing this phone n the symbian OS to other to that of other phones!! How can ppl say that there arent any apps for this phone when i have over 100 apps installed.... all of which i use on a daily basis!! I have some many amazing non java games as well [i hate most java games] including amazing games like Quake 3 Arena!! Plus i have lots of emulators so i can play classics like Super Mario World, Metal Slug I, II and III, Kings of Fighters, Sonic, Marvel vs Capcom n so on!!! hi dark, you can watch you tube on 3g, or wifi, you can get google maps from mobile9.com, but you need a data plan for it to work well, there is no video edit that ive found on this phone, its a very good phone, but the support for it can be an issue, im thinking of getting an android phone next, as they seem to be up and coming

THEY STILL DONT HAVE A SAMSUNG PC STUDIO FOR WINDOWS 7.They dont reply to your problems which you post them online. Updating is very sluggish and the PC Studio software is slow. Infact I dont think so they have had any updates since the last 6 months. Clicking pictures in low light is bad, absolutely bad. Even indoor pictures come very bad. All in all, the phone has not kept up with it's fancy features and is disappointing.

alrite ppl!a lot of u hav been askin for the firmware update for I8910 in India.So here goes.. 1.Its now (officialy) available on samsungmobile.in website 2.jst download n instal PC Studio 7 on ur pc 3.Make sure ur fone is fully charged n u have taken a backup of ur imp data 4.the PC studio will guide u thru the rest of update process. cant be much simpler. in case of any probs faced by any of u..post em here n i'l try troubleshootin it,if u get any at all..which i guess u wont!

Picture Quality is Best so FAR. Sound quality is also good. Processor is lil slow, i think samsung could have given 600 MHZ processor instead of 400 MHZ. Atlast i recomend this phone to everyone. i downloaded the spb shell from the link u posted, but the installation stopped and the fone said simething about a 'certificate error' ... How do i solve this?

All i did was go to email.nokia.com on my i8910 browser, downloaded it and it installed like a normal app. There wasn't any signing required. Before n203 the progams wouldn't install it would error during installation. I dont know why it worked for me and not you. Sorry i cant be of more help.

FYI for those who want nokia messaging...Once i installed n203 onto my phone i went back to nokia's email website and the program installed just fine. Nokia messaging just does seem to work with stock ROMs.

i got this phone like 1 month back.. even de i phone owners lend my phone to watch movies.. which is de best part.. if you get bits of free time you can watch it with subtitle support.. awsome.. camera good.. but no kinetic scroll... thats only drawback.. is dere officail firmware out??

in my opinion..the i8910 is better than any touch screen nokia has produced to this day.. We will have to wait till we can get our hands on an n8 to try it out,,just by looking at the specs it (should) have a great camera,...it (should) be better,,but nokia are having a wee bit of trouble i think with the quality of their highend sets...i had a 5800 and it wasnt to good..i then got a 5730..it wasnt good..i then got a e63..its fantastic..i use it now as a second fone along with the i8910..time will tell

go to hyperix site and faenil's site, pose the same qs to both. ''is spb shell a worth having app'', come back and tell me who among these two answered ur qs. i m a big fan of hyperix and faenil. but i respect hyperix more than faenil coz hyperix was there when we need the help in actual sense.

I think the reason behind why some elements are missing for the SPB SHELL from mobile9 is because that version is not for Symbian. It is the one for Windows Mobile and was just hacked so it will run on Symbian. I tried it 3 months ago and most of the SPB programs are for WinMo. So better download the trial version from the SPB site itself..

Thanks Owen, but I already knew about SPB Shell before. I actually installed it in my phone already. I was just kinda confused before I read Faenil's news about its release because the last time i knew they were already developing the version 5. Anyway, Im still thinking if I am going to buy the full. :) But I like it a lot.

Please help me I have the following queries friends: 1) if I backup and restore my stuff after flashing then would the messages in my inbox still display the names of the sender or after flashing they would convert into nos from the person who sent it. Eg: Before flashing: Msg.1. Sam. Would it still display Sam�s name after restoration or say something like: Msg.1. 99287XYZ10. 2) Does the phone need to be backed up for official firmware update via PC suite also or we can update it directly ? 3)which firmware has kinetic scrolling both in Message inbox and contacts?

hi friends.. I've recently moved on to n203.. I noticed a problem with one of the apps I use - WWIGO (Webcam whereever I go).. earlier when I was on DDIG3, it could easily connect via wifi where as now that i've shifted to n203, I can never seem to connect the phone via wifi.. dont have a bluetooth dongle yet, so cant try that method.. can anyone help me on this?

Has anyone else been having trouble installing Nokia Messaging on their hacked i8910? I went to email.nokia.com on my phone to download it, but it gives me certification error when trying to install. I already have an account with them because i used it just fine on my N95. So i cancelled the account and tried to open a new one with them, but it says i am putting in an "invalid mobile phone number". i am putting in the country code in the first box and my 10-digit phone number in the second. My phone number hasn't changed since switching phones either? Do i have to sign the app?

Dude, There is a way to exit. Just press the launcher icon, settings,press the button on the right hand bottom corner of your screen and press exit shell, you can reload it from the original application menu.
