this is my favourite one!..it`s easy to use, very organized, it has a unique "look"...what more could you need. oh and it can get through a lot of dropping without deteriorating a bit! it`s great. I have it for 5 years now..it`s a pity a have to change it because of the battery.

i concur with the commenter w/ "superb" feedback. i bought this piece of cellphone back in y2k5, and its sticking like glue. it's awsome. i dislike mobile cameras cuz even tho mpixels r rising the qval is far from regular (even compact-alike) cameras. the phonebook is good for 2000 posts, superb phone! too bad they discontinued it.

This phone realy realy super. I got this phone in 2006 and still running strong & smoothly. i only replaced it battery once and that was the only replacement i've done up to now. It have less features but a perfect phone for normal use. I love it.

My best phone to date... This is a short history of the phones I used since 1999: 1999-2001 Sagem MC912....pretty sturdy phone, battery died quickly though and some problems w/software 2001-2002 Nokia 3310....reliable but battery life was quite short, also it was way too heavy 2002-2003 Alcatel 512 Pretty nifty little bugger, but quite fragile, had to take it in for repairs twice before I gave up on it 2003-2004 Sagem My X-5, my 2nd BEST, very good, reliable, very good battery life 2004-2005 Motorola C385 pretty straight forward, good battery life 2005-..... This Samsung, the X480...I can't even remember how many times I dropped this phone, I even dropped it in water without realizing, picked it up minutes later, let it dry for a couple of days, worker without flaw. It's shell is pretty beat-up but no cracks...very good material/workmanship. Battery life is not outstanding, but it still gives me 3-4 days, even after 4 years, despite some saying batteries (Li-ion) have about 3 yrs working life. I love the shape, size of it, I wouldn't change this phone unless somehow it stops working.

ok i have dis fone for a year or sumtin its ok it sticks for a fone dat cant hold much data but it has all da basics. its durable cuz mines has fallen so many times it a bit banged up buh still works like a charm unlike my frend iphone dat fell once an da screen cracked wich is quite unfortunate

I have had one of these for 3 years now and the problem list is endless. i have heard of people having them and having no trouble at all. mine on the other hand turns off when people try to call u. sometimes it just turns off for the sake of it. messages dont come through properly. everything works extremely slow. Even though i have deleted almost everything. The Keys are extremely sticky ans stop working from time to time. expecially #,0,* definately not worth the price

My X480 broke a couple of days ago. I bought it two and a half years ago. I was great. Suddenly starts to reset and I couldnt listen to any call, people could listen to me but I couldnt them so I had to close it and open it multiple times until it goes back in action. Battery was lasting around 8 now... Too bad this things happend, cause the size and features of the phone where perfect!

we use the X486, at first it unique lightness and stylish design catches you but after using it for two years when it decides to go its gone, it was quite faithfull and as my husband in into construction it has been in many accidents, it even fell off a 3 storey roof and survived by it just died i do not want another one like it though i believe this phone is more suited for children or women in an office

I have one and i downloaded some personal pictures then i wanted to sell it and i can't get the pictures erased from it. If that phone gets in the wrong hands i could be put in a very embarrasing posistion with those pics. No one in my country Trinidad and Tobago can help me. That's why i won't use the phone no more.

Hey ! I've had this phone for almost a year now . I like the design, the weight, the feeling of holding it in your palm, etc. I dropped it many-many times, even dropped it water once, the side buttons didnt work for a few weeks, but then it worked again :D:D:D The downside that I can find bout it is maybe signal, which is poor, but maybe coz I dropped it so many times. Also no loud speaker and the quality of sound not too extraordinary. Would reccomend it, but I think it's already outdated :P :P

I have this phone fot a little while now, and i think it's the best i had till now. Because it's light and tiny, you can call and sms (the most essential ;) I had nice phones with camera's before, but it's no good for the memory capacity. So i love this phone :) If you want to see what you have send, you can save your sms and then it will apear in your outbox. Greetsz from Holland

i had the nokia 6111 but it was too high maintenance and i never used all the extra functions much: camera, bluetooth, video, music player, etc. and the sound quality sucked! I wish I had bought the Samsung x460 a long time ago. It's perfect for calling and texting, which is just what I need right now. It's inexpensive and so so cute and quite slim too . . . I plan to get it decorated:) NO MORE DRAMA!

Probably one of the worst phones I've ever had. Between the archaic text messaging system and the inability turn the vibrate function off, this phone will be retired as soon as possible. Back to Motorola, I will never buy a Samsung again.

i bought this model for almost 2 months and wasnt giving any problem until few days ago when i've trouble calling out,receving calls and sms.whenever i dial a number,it stated "Call Ended" immediately.I've check there's nothing wrong with the service provider and my Sim card does work in other phones.I've to switch off and on again to call out or sms.The phone settings are default as it came when i bought.Does anyone have this problem? for such a cheap fone ($199AUD) it is extremely good, ive had it for about 1/2 a year now and if ur not worried about all the fancy functions and just need a fone 2 perform 2 task - calling and msging- it is the best. the keys are beautifully spaced apart, with a simply yet intuitive menu system. there is no problem at all during calls as the volume is loud and clear whilst u can still msg at the same time as u call. simply a great fone that serves it purpose well. battery life is pretti good too

The phone IS USB ready. Cable is sold seperately, don't fool potential buyers! Cable's approximately for 10 bucks. Really nice , solid, stylish who searches for a non-camera phone. It's funny that in download section of the Samsung website offers 4 free application to be used with your x480. How should i use the apps? Sure, with a USB data cable. You can synchronize images, melodies between your PC and phone. That means you can upload your pics&ringtones from computer to x480. You can even send & recieve SMS and other stuff while phone's connected. Again, Please don't give wrong info here!

I own this phone for a few months.What I don't like are:the alarm, even if it's set for ringing between Mon-Fri, it's ringing also Sat and Sun(not so nice);the pictures taken with other camera (MMS) are very low quality;polifonic melodies are also very quiet;you cannot know if you missed one alarm or not, nothing is diplayed;you cannot choose a melody for a particular number, only if it's saved into phone's memory;you cannot have a picture(only a drawing) attached to every number from phonebook. Typically a blond phone :)

x480 is very poor at battery, because i can talk only 3 days and i shut it down during the night in order to save some battery. Another discomfort consists in a very complicate way to find out how much time did you talk at the last call

I got the X480 a week back for abt US $115 in the gray market.Battery backup comes to about 3 days with usage for abt 30min a day.This is a phone ONLY for talking on..messaging is quite a hassle.And there's no option to forward a message!!!Thats atrocious in this day and age.The built in ringtones are AWFUL!!So u gotta download other tones.Keypad is nice and big..easy to type text messages. Not at all as user-friendly as Nokia

i cant select my favorites ringtones, who has been download, when i want to receive a text mesaje. and also y can selec vibration+sound with any ringtone. here in Argentina, this mobile phone has a trouble with the signal, just lose the signal in any moment. thanks, sorry about my english...greetings

My cell turns off by itself, if a leave it unnattended by an hour it just turns off; is there an option on the phone or is it a problem ?? The battery is fully charged ... I didn't like that in receiving SMS you can't have Vibration + Sound .. you gotta choose one ... It's pretty unusefull :( The rest it's perfect.. I really love this model ... This phone is great. Fits in your pocket very well. Have a nice design. Have some small problems, but which phone doesnt have it? for the purpose of it (small, nice design, lightweight, is very cheap), well, its very good... If someone is not satisfied whit this specs, then buy some other phone, heavy weight, bigger, uglier, with a cam, with mp3... they will have others problems too... I recommend this phone, specially for who want to dont worry about to carry out a cel phone in the pocket...

It's a mixed bag. Overall, I quite like it, but my old phone was very basic. The features I like are: * small. * no antenna sticking out. * flip phone. * easy to navigate menus * reasonably priced. * no camera (not allowed where I work). * Java games. The features that annoy me: * the ring tones are truly appalling. Here's an idea, what about a tone that actually sounds like a phone ringing? * external indicator light only flashes when a call is ringing (what about message received or missed call). * message composer always defaults to ABC I have to press a button 3 times to switch into T9 at the start of every message. If I was in T9 mode composing the previous message, why not stay there? * The capitals mode is a similar deal. If you want to capitalize someone's name mid sentence you have to hit a button 3 times. * no button to flip it open. * very smooth finish and small size makes holding it a little precarious.

This is an incredibly good phone, I bought it and it hasn't given me any problem. You can have ring and vibrate at the same time, it's the default option!!! Also, the thing that REALLY annoys me is that you can't select T9 as default; you have to select it each time you write a message. I've written to Samsung asking if there's a way to recttify this. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to make smses automatically store on the phone's memory [it holds 200 whereas the SIM card only holds 20]. Only two major gripes, otherwise the phone is excellent

It's a nice set with beautiful display screen but the only thing with which i'm not satisfied is its ringtone volume.. its very slow even sometimes walking in bazar i often miss calls. i'll be wondered if there's any trick to increase its volume, of course from its own highest level.

what size & type wallpapers do you download? on the samsung website it has options 128x128 jpg & gif, then the rest in jpg 128x96, 176x144, 176x178. the phone has a display of 160x128 so i would assume you would get 128x128 & because it supports 65k colour i assume jpg would be better quality but a bit bigger. Any thoughts? Cheers.

Yes the Samsung x480 is a fine mobile however the service light not indicating missed calls is a major problem. I was very surprised to find this phone lacking this option. This seems to be a big oversight. Yes please if anyone knows how to fix this then please let us know.

got this phone a week ago... im pretty impressed with samsung's grid style user interface, it's really great and very user friendly... size and physical looks' really good... i've been using nokia phones since the release of nokia 5110 and transition to samsung's clamshell phone will be a great experience... but i missed out something on buying this phone... i thought the lack of external display will be offset by the service light when you have unread messages or missed calls... i mean the service light will keep on blinking until u read ur message, at least u have a sign that u've got new messages or missed calls... too bad it ain't work like that, the service light just blinks for a certain period and stops, too bad... u still need to flip it to know if u have new messages... i hope samsung can fix this flaw, i think this can be fixed through firmware upgrade... so please samsung do something about this... i really love everything in this phone except for the useless service light... if anyone knows how to make the service light work please please please let me know... for people who wants gadgets only for their dedicated purpose, this phone suits you...

Cute little sexy phone that really suits to any one looking for a stylish PHONE, not a camera, mp3 player etc.. signal strength and call quality is much better than my old nokia 3100. Ring tones, great, and downloading a voice mmf would make it no difference from a high end phone that plays mp3 ringtones. User friendly operation. So I would recommend it to any one who needs a PHONE.

Very happy with phone. Just wanted the smallest phone I could find that was a clam (so no annoying key-lock rubbish required), didn't have ext antenna to jab into me and did the basics - calls and SMS. LOVE the fact I'm not paying (in money and size) for a camera, blue tooth etc I never use - I know this because I've had a number of top-of-the-line phones !! Also am very happy the side buttons do nothing when the phone is closed - on previous flips I've had this alters ring volume - handy if it's in your pocket and you accidently lower the volume to silent - NOT !! Would have liked an external screen but if that means those side buttons are active again I'm okay to live without it. Settings exist so you can open and review your callers before answering if you like. Only fault, agree the hot-keys are a little annoying - esp ringtone, but I've only had it for a few days and have managed not to set it off too often. Also not a fan of the WAP key - I don't use it that often so not important enough feature for such a key for me. Incidently, Nokia fans tend to trash all other phones - very irritating - especially considering Nokia's std function is to have a key-lock that unlocks when the phone rings - so if it's in your pocket or handbag pressed up next to something it's answered, whether you know it or not !!

This phone is seriously flawed. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! It is true that you have to choose between vibrator and sound (not both at the same time). It also has no snooze, no stopwatch, silly ringtones, and really stupid fast buttons. Like, if you are going to browse the phone and accidentally hit the right side of the big button in the middle, you enter "ringtones" and your ringtone starts playing. And then you get startled because the phone started to ring while you were in the middle of spmething and you try to answer it and you look really stupid when you figure out that the phone didn't actually ring, you just hit the wrong button by mistake. It's a flip phone but it has no button to open it with, so when it's ringing it always takes a little bit of time to get it opened before you can answer the call. It might not bother everyone, but it bothers me. Also, it has a very uncomfortable grip, it's hard to write text messages because the design is somehow uncomfortable and it's really easy for it to slip out of your hands. Which is a bad thing except for the fact that you might get lucky and it might go into million pieces and then you would have to buy a new one. In which case you would be lucky. Actually, just don't buy it in the first place.

I wanna buy a flipfone dat doesnt pinch in d jeans pocket unlike those models w/ xternal antennaz... Simple nice features. Nice price too.(Tired of using Nokia6260).But too bad it has no bluetooth. Still, il buy this fone coz i like its stylish dsign. ........As long as it can send & receive sms,mms and has long batt life and colored screen,, i believe this fone suites my needs.

Its great. Dee, u got to disable "Active Folder" at Phone Settings > Extra Settings to avoid answering by just opening the flip.

I got mine with FMG 18mths warranty only RM540. I'm not sure if it covers accidents because I only saw the ad for the x460. The lack of an external screen kinda puts the active folder function useless unless you fancy answering the phone first then discover who is calling! Otherwise, turn the active folder off. How do you do mass copying (contacts & sms) on this phone? Doesn't look like there is an option. Also how do you set default for contacts & sms to be on the sim card & phone? What happens when my sms is maxed out on the sim? Does it go to the phone automatically? Sorry this is my first samsung phone & have only used nokia/sony before.

i've bought this phone for Rm560 with the FMB waranty(1 year) in malaysia.a phone with basic features i might say,but the design is nice and its quite small.suits design lovers who don't care much bout specs(me).although as i look at it longer i feel like it suits girls more.the colour screen is not bad for 128x160 65k UFB if compared to other phones of similar price such as the nokia 6100 or the panasonic x200.the only drawback is the loss of external display which might be a bit inconvenient for those who don't wear a watch n if there r any miss calls or messages that is received and the loss of camera.although for me i don't need a camera if the resolution sucks.might as well get a digicam.so basically,its a good phone with nice design and selling at a cheap price which meant for economy. and...this phone doesn't have a USB.that thing at the bottom of the phone is the socket for the charger.
