Sharp 923SH - User Reviews

  • my phone shows emergency only all the time ?whats the reason.please help me.thanks

  • i got a blue one ..

  • I want the blue 923sh but it's probably impossible to find one now:( lame

  • I bought the Sharp 9020c version from China earlier this year. I live in Melbourne, Australia and i'm with Optus network, but I haven't been able access the internet or send mms on it. Anyone know what the internet settings for this phone are? I have tried going through Optus' general internet settings but they haven't worked for me. TIA

  • where did you buy it from in aus?

  • you can use it anywhere as long as its GSM. i have this phone and uses it in Australia

  • can we use this phone in the us? cause i asked the salesperson from tmoble and they told me the sharp phones has a differnt frequency. is that true? i have a phone from china

  • These Sharp models originate in Japan 1st.. then SHARP in China reproduces them for the Chinese/Taiwan market , they're not locked down to any Service Provider , So you could buy one from China/Taiwan Online and use it in Australia yes and the internet will also work too , If you're in Sydney Australia , there are places in Chinatown which sell these Sharp Models

  • Hey, just a quick question if you are still selling the phone: What country are you from? Thanks!

  • I got that from taiwan....it work in Singapore very well ^.^

  • i want this phone. would it work in australia? (if it's unlocked?)

  • actually.. the 0902c HAS 3g, you just can't use in in North America because we run on a different frequency than Asian frequencies, it's dumb.

  • I am using the SH9020C Version of this phone since last 5 months & really love this phone .Here is the detailed experience i have from this phone: Software: very stable . without any freezing, restarts or hanging. UNLOCKED: this model 9020c is totally unlocked . do not need to deal with hypersim or whatever & yo can use all functions of phone Signal reception: Considear triband it has very good call quality very clear & crisp. not too loud but clear & crisp. 3G ; This phone not support 3G. But i dont have any wireless internet plan so i do not need this Bluetooth : support all regular like headphone.file transfer Ringtones : Support MP3 files. can use any mp3 song as ringtone Battery : Its decent much better than many latest phone with almost 2 to 3 days with normal usage ( need to take care of some dispaly settings like backlight time & sharpness) . With normal usage i mean , shoot 30 to 40 pictures ,1-2 hours of calling , watching videos & playing with menus & still 2 to 3 days . Display : is very bright & rich colour with many display setttings like can use flash wallpapers & change themes. Notification lights colours etc. Body : Good size & feels good in hand . big when flip opened but then it has big screen & very nice easy to use keypad. You can rotate the screen to 90 deg. which is really wonderful to watch the videos camera : 5.2 megapixel. very decent camera in good light conditions with natural & rich colours.but you may be miss the xenon flash in night ,dark conditions Video recording : Excellent with big size of 840 x 480 . its better than samsung omnia HD because of good sound also. Music player: WITH GREAT SOUND QUALITY & many settings like Bass, surround sound it is nice to listen the songs. Overall its very good east to use & relaible phone with some different feel.

  • hahahaha american phones do suck! They are trying to copy the iphone one way or another, and touch screens are horrible! America is so deprived when it comes to innovative (and stylish) technology. Yep all you have to do is simply pop in your sim card, just be sure to get the sh9020c, sh0902c, or WX-T923 NOT the 923sh. I have the WX-T923 and it is so beautiful and a great and reliable phone. You can only surf on the internet with edge (These phones 3G runs on a different band), but I don't see it being extremely slow, it's good for checking email and myspacing and facebooking. It has a decent cam (well, sucks in my opinion, but then again I have many many keitais, 12MP CCD!!) You should def get it!

  • folks, can i get this to work with an att sim card? the reason i ask is beacause in US everything is setup so tight that they kind of force u to buy their phones (att, verizon, etc.) thanks misha

  • Hi i was wondering where i can download the usb driver from so i can connect the cable with the pc. When i purchased it used, it didn't come with a cd so i don't know where to download the driver

  • I find the screen makes this phone worth it. My big complaint is the battery life. After about 1 month of ownership, it uses up the battery in about 30 hours with little use, and 3 days in offline mode. I used my old Sharp as an alarm clock for 10 days or more in offline mode before, so this aspect is disappointing.

  • yep i have one already and it works. except for the 3g but its fine with me coz it works the way a phone should be. no hypersim required as well.

  • As said earlier, the WX-T923 has a better battery life than most iPhones and Nokia's together. And that is having the screen at full brightness and using the internet throughout the day. Last night I was on the phone for nearly 2 hours and that's when the battery failed me. I rate it quite high!

  • Well, apart from the glamourous casing and massive screen resolution, this phone is pretty much just that Pretty. To be honest, if you really want a pretty phone guaranteed to work in your area and have better customisation options (e.g themes, backgrounds, music players) i suggest you go for the latest smart phones. Japan are notorious for leaking out their technology yet restricting them so much that you only ever get a taste of the tip and then your left sulking over the sour parts of the supposed to be sweet victory. Sadly to say, this phone is actually really not that "high tech". The battery life fails after 30 mins of video, and although you have a 5mp camera, after 50 pictures or so you'll end up running around mad trying to find a charger. Apparently usage of phones outside japan just don't compete well with the battery life. The 3G function only works with the Taiwan version WX-T923, the China version 9020SH only has 2G support. WAP capable yet some web pages may not be compatible in certain areas (i.e New Zealand Vodafone Live!) the only "fun" thing about this phone is that you are able to literally "block" peeping toms from spying on yuor screen at a 45 degree angle if you turn on what the Japanese call "viel". and also the accelerometre doubles as a compas, or so we've seen on the iphone. But its pretty much all this gorgeous phone ever does. Call time is a ridiculous 4 hours only on Full charge and although standby time does last a day or two, normal usage would just limit you to having to plug this phone into the wall every night, not a habit you would want to get used to. So what i'm trying to point out is that this phone is only for eyecandy, or as chinese people say it, a VASE. Just an ornament with no use whatsoever.

  • really? i really want one should i get it??? hmmmmm

  • where can buy tis phone?

  • Got mine on eBay... second hand! That was a lot cheaper than the HK and TW sellers sell them for! So lucky, and a great phone!

  • Where did u get your sharp fone?

  • Amazing phone... I got my WX-T923 about a month ago and must say that it is HOT! It's not the best in market, but whatever it does do, it does well! Great camera, massive HD screen, good music player and the BEST video camera I've ever seen! Full D1 video at superb 2/Mbps quality! Fast internet, good reception and call quality, easy to hook up via bluetooth! Got Google Maps installed, but can't seem to use it with MyLocation which is a shame. GPS is also missing which I find a major disadvantage, so MyLocation really needs to work! YouTube is also OK on here, but the screen is too big almost (for the low quality mobile youtube videos...). Facebook is great, you have to increase the zoom though to be able to read everything... again, screen is VERY high-res! Battery-life is AWESOME! At near full brightness, using facebook, using the camera and being on the phone for 30-60 minutes the battery is still at 2-3 out of 3 bars in the evening! If you keep it on standby the phone will last for nearly 4 days! Motion control and optical touch pad are nice, though a touch screen would have easily replaced the two. The design of course is sleek and professional, and the swivel-screen has amazed a bunch of people! I give it a 8/10!

  • If you got your phone which is from Japan, chances are you need a Hybersim together with a Sim Card to work. There are three models with the same design, 1)SH9020C - CHINA, No 3G Network, No Hybersim Required 2)WX-T923, Taiwan, 3G Network, No Hybersim Required 3)923SH, Japan, 3G (HSDPA 2100), Hybersim Required All models work with GSM 2G unless indicated. Hope the above will be useful to you.

  • tw model is way better than ebay/US/europe models. due to u can just insert your sim and it will work out of the box with everything unlocked and great reception. if you buy other edition, u have to use hypersim to unlock, u will have 1 out of 4 bars on ur reception all the time and hang up on calls 50% of the time.

  • u need a hypersim for it to work since yours is from japan. again, u will not be able to use camera/video function on this phone. even if with hypersim u can only make/receive calls. probably sms also.

  • i sure hope sharp does things wel when they enter the europe market again they already got things smooth leaving the logo's on the back like palm's making room for simplicity on the front onlike the other brands that smack there logo's right in your face and don't forget there lcd's if not one of the best..

  • I got one as a gift, but I can not get it to work. It keeps asking for USIM Card. Any help will be appreciate it, thank you.

  • really good phone i used before

  • If you want the 2G version, eBay is your friend. For the 3G version, only eBay.com offers one more EXPENSIVE model. I bought mine for US700, and that was nearly the last one!

  • The WX-T923 (Taiwan) version does support MP3 up to 192kbps, and AAC/eAAC+ up to 192kbps as well.

  • No Support MP3!!!

  • To be honest, SHARP had never really "left" the western market as such. T-Mobile and Telstra (and others) still ordered the Sidekick models, and the new LX 2009 proves that they are still hot. But yeah, I understand that we would like something a bit less "niche".

  • Nope, only 192kbps max. That's just a SHARP standard.

  • Don't worry, they will enter in America too, now they entered in the whole Asia, after that they will enter in Europe, and after that in America!

  • Heyyy guys, do u know can it play 320Kbps mp3 tones on it?

  • can support chinesea ma?

  • They don't sell any more Sharp models like this in the US do they. I haven't seen a Sharp cellphone presented or new releases in-stores for years now. This phone looks like the typically in-fashioned cellphone styles in Japan. I have always wanted one that has similar characteristics as this phone to start selling in the US instead of only Japan, but I'm not quite sure if the Americans would also feel the same... Getting a phone similar to this online is just to risky and expensive. International phones always rule compared to the ugly and LQ phones in the US. We always get the bad ones and Asia gets the really good ones, like games, technology. *sigh*

  • good day everyone! anyone knows if this phone can be use in the philippines? are all features on this phone can be operational in the philippines like 3g, gprs, mms, and internet? please answer me... thanks ahead....

  • Sharp will make smartphones for Europe soon!!!http://www.unwiredview.com/2009/07/07/nec-to-re-launch-phones-outside-japan-probably-in-europe/

  • try ebay even though the price is a bit to high it is still reasonable

  • Hi, I'm trying to use bluetooth to transfer some java game file into the phone. I can't find the right folder and if I try to put it in flash or other folder. "Invalid FTP Request" error message poped up. Please help. Please Help. btw..i'm using WX T923 Taiwan version. THNKAS

  • help! where online to buy 9020c for good price and service.. thnx

  • really!!!i got it for 3880rmb !! and the most important thing is wat internet servise you got for sh9020??? are you using T-M,if yes can you tell the data is ?

  • This model SH923 would still need a Hyper/Turbo Sim for it to work outside of Japan, so it isn't fully unlocked. However, the China version of this phone by SHARP is fully unlocked. It's the SH9020C. It has Chinese and English. It's the exact phone. It is also able to go online in the U.S. if you sign Data service with it. &There are no reception problems or reconnection problems. I use this phone myself. Hope the information was helpful. You can get the SH9020C right for around $700.

  • Inex is probably the best but your looking to pay around 100$USD. The china version 9020c. Same model as the 923SH is fully unlocked and does not require the Hypersim. I have one right now and it supports Mp3 ringtones, Internet, and you can download your themes directly onto the phone. If you get the softbank one it probably doesn't allow Mp3 ringtones, and no internet. Plus, no CPRing. Up to you though. I would love the Japanese one for the Japanese text support. But I don't like to CPR all the time.

  • Go to the Japaense phones, and there is a tread, enter to it, to see the infos abou Japaense phones, even Japanese Sony Ericsson!

  • Visit that site bro, and you will know these things. :) If you don't know something, just tell me. I hope I will know it and...

  • hi guys, i have some questions. is this phone fully unlocked.. as in, don't need those hyper sim cards such as iNex, iSmartphone.. if i do need those hyper sim cards, which hyper sim cards would be reccomended and also to which version of the phone would need those cards such as the 923sh(jap) or the 9020c(chinese). and whats the difference b/w sharp 923sh and the "chinese" one, 9020c? also, can we use GPS once unlocked? ie.) use in Canada, US.. etc..etc. im in hong kong right now...and would like to buy one before i leave .. thanks

  • Softbank tomorrow will announce the summer collection, they will announce 4 devices, 3 models has 8MP CCD camera, and 1 has 10MP CCD camera. one of those super phones is waterproof.

  • Maybe, but how about Wifi, or GPS, or One Seg TV, these functions does not work ouside of Japan, the One Segment TV for sure, that is the problem! With a Hyper sim you can only call, if you want to use the Wifi exemple, you have to pay montly for Softbank, if you want to use the good functions you have to make a media unlock ex the One Seg TV will not work without the media unlock. I like Sharp, coz they are the best in the whole world, but I don't want to pay for Softbank. I know they want to enter in the European market, and when they enter, I hope they will enter with great clamshell smartphones. Just look at the Sharp Sh-01A, is a smartphone, has Symbian, version 9,3 or 9,4. Has a big screen, has great TV function, you can rotate the screen!!! Soon Softbank will announce their summer collection, you will see 3 great devices, or two, one will have 8 Mp CCD camera, and one with 10 MP CCD cam!!! These phones will be available in Taiwan and China. When they will lead the market will enter in the European markets with great devices!!! Not just Sharp will enter in the European markets, Toshiba want to enter with Winmob. smartphones, and Fujitsu. When they will be in the European market, I will buy ONLY SHARP, this thing is true for sure!

  • I have this phone, (sh9020c) it works fine in europe, i installed al the settings for mms, web and email and everything is working wel. I just like sharp they are the best ever!

  • Sharp is the best in the world, I think soon we will see great phones in the whole world, first in Europe. They want to produce phones from Europe, but first they want to make phones from Taiwan, and China.

  • SHARP, you ARE THE BEST, PLEASE produce for Europe too such phones!!! Sharp is the best, believe me!!!

  • gps yes!gsmrna,fix it!

  • I know...everyone outside asia gets the boot here. Brilliant phone. I almost got it but it cost too much to import it for me.

  • best fone ever!

  • finally something good from sharp for as ..."poor Europe" (does it properly work at all)
