Sharp Aquos R2 - User Reviews

  • great phone , fast touch , best camera ever , sound quality is superb , cost alot of money to get it to eu, worth every euro.

  • Ok, thanks!

  • Yes it has. I will comment here once I post the video so you can search the exact title. I will make sure to make the title identifiable. It is really a tideous task to combine videos so I am looking for this Saturday or Sunday to post.

  • Thanks! My comment was deleted when I have shared my email. GSMArena has some weird rules sadly.

  • This is the fourth time I am trying to post the comment. This site won't let me post a link or email. I will post on YouTube probably this week and let you know.

  • Yes, Sharp has some cool design. By the way I look forward for those night shots using the Aquos R2. :) If you have a YT channel would you upload it there?

  • I really wanted to use Fujitsu, but had the choice to go only for one of the two. So I went for Sharp. I have owned two Sharp phones in the past. The Crystal, and the SH04H. This is my third one. I do love both of them, but I feel Sharp edges out Fujitsu in design. Hopefully I will own both in future too!

  • I did not hear about it as well, but I bet it will be far better than the R2. Anyway 2 Fujitsu phones could come later this year, one with the Snapdragon 855!(a long time we did see Fujitsu using the 800 series). I love both Sharp and Fujitsu, bad sadly I have never own one yet. Have you used Fujitsu before?

  • Haven't really heard about the R3. But I am sure whatever Sharp comes up with it's next is going to be an awesome offering!

  • Thank you much for sharing these things. I am planning to buy the Aquos R3 which will come this summer, or a Fujitsu, later this year, so I was curious about this detail.

  • Nothing exceptional in Low Light videography. Like any mobile phone, small sensors don't help in capturing low light videos. It is ISO range upto 3200 but the video gets grainy at this point (in my dimly lit room). I am yet to test it outside in the night. However, the still images come out as best as any phone can get in the low light with the help of flash at close range(Total dark room, flash on, it captures the object crystal clear). In a good light, I feel this phone has one of the best camera. The wide angle video makes a lot of difference. In a week, I will be able to tell a lot more, because so far I was really caught up in annual accounts closing of my company.

  • It uses IGZO type of display. These are power efficient. Anyway I did just read you own this product. Tell me honestly about low light photography, or low light video recording. How would your pictures or videos turn on in these conditions?

  • Yes that is true. I stand corrected, but Amoleds etc are treated as better display due to deep black and thus the color reproduction, but Sharp displays produce really great colors with IPS LCD was the point I wanted to make. Thanks.

  • May i just point out that lcd screens (ips is a version of lcd) are usually brighter than oled screens (amOLED, P-OLED and just OLED) itÂ’s completely normal.

  • These are inaccurate data. I recently bought the phone and I can say it is n amazing device. It DOES have the NFC. It has the FeLiCa chip. The camera notch is the least annoying of all phones available with notches (this is not r2 compact). It is the only phone that has both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos as of now. And it actually works. The brightness of this phone is amazing given that it is not an OLED. And the Dolby Atmos works superb too (only headphones) The camera is a bit complicated for most to understand but let me explain: The primary standard camera shoots both stills and video. In shooting both, you can use the optical image stabilizer or electronic one. The wide angle camera shoots only video and has only electronic image stabilizer, but one cannot complain because anyway the wide angle camera is in addition to the standard. However, it would have been even more amazing if it did have the OIS too. The selfie camera is 16MP camera. In this image on the website it doesn't look too good. But trust me, when you have the phone in hand it looks absolutely stunning! I bought the black color and was worried that I should have gone with the white one, but now I am glad I have the shiny black gem. Because I thought black is an evergreen color and I would eventually get bored of the white one, but it's personal preference. It is completely a Japanese model. 4GB RAM is great but yes nowadays 6/8 GB RAM phones are also available but I don't know how much I will suffer due to 2GB less RAM. I am a Sharp fanboy, who has the Aquos Crystal, Aquos Zeta SH04H and now the R2. If anyone wants to know more you can ask me in the reply about this phone.

  • Sharp is really stupid to make phones like this r2 compact

  • When this phone will come to Malaysia?

  • where in japan i can buy this phone

  • The bezels and the frame are exactly as in the iPhone X, although this phone is bigger.

  • last years Aquos S2 looked better, thinner bezels around the screen. In the video reviews of the Aquos R2 you can see the outside bezel just looks too thick with an annoying black line around the screen. Put the finger scanner centered on the back and used that bottom bezel area for the buttons leaving extra real estate on the screen. But a solid design, no notch, camera's look very promising, cant wait to get one in my hand.

  • Let me explain something. There is the Chinese division on Sharp, and there is the Japanese division of Sharp. The R series are part of the Japanese division on Sharp. The Aquos S is the Chinese division of Sharp. What you can buy in Japan, are still made in Japan, and anyway everything in under the control of the Japanese, since Japan are exporting Japanese technology to China and other Asian countries.

  • What are you trying to say? I am pretty sure Sharp still makes phones for themself.

  • No it is not. ODMed by Commtiva Technology Limited.

  • Sharp is Chinese at 66 percent. Sharp Japan still makes smart phones, do not let somebody to fool you. This one is MADE in Japan, by Sharp Japan, trust me.

  • More like China only. Sharp is not Japanese anymore :(

  • Nope, this is Sharp Aquos S2's baby brother. In case you had no clue, the S2 was announced and released BEFORE: iPhone copied Sharp and essential, while Huawei is nothing but a wannabe replika brand who copied iPhone. August 2017 - Sharp Aquos S2 August 2017 - Essential PH-1 October 2017 - iPhone X January 2018 - Huawei replika brand

  • All good except the battery. I think battery should be around 4000mah for phone which has a 6inch dispaly with 560 ppi pixel density.

  • Full specs are not certain yet, even my Sharp Aquos S2 has it, probably this will too.

  • This is a mix of essential Phone, iPhone X and Huawei Honor View 10.

  • IGZO screens are better than the other ones at battery consumption. I think it is fine.

  • It is Japan only, but you will be able to buy it from j-phone dot com or from kyoex. :)

  • A good looking smart phone!! Good job Sharp! It is little bit bigger than other 6 inches phones, but it is not too huge. About that notch, it looks kinda weird, but you can get used to it I believe.

  • Nice specs Sharp, keep these nice cells coming and will definitely buy them in US.

  • flagship with no NFC ? battery & RAM bump would be better

  • Welcome back Sharp.

  • I love the design but the battery size is too small.

  • No nfc? That's not going to please a lot of people like me who use it to pay for things via Google Pay.

  • What could be more worse? A notch with huge chin...

  • we believe it to be priced somewhere around the $499 mark

  • It has a smaller screen-to-body ratio than Sharp Aquos S3... Yet it has a better processor? So which smartphone is actually the high-end one?

  • It should boast a 4000mAh battery with these specs.

  • This should be called the real Aquos s3, current s3 comes with different notch design but this one is close to sharp s2 design language. Make it another version with Snapdragon 636/660 would be cool for midrange spot

  • Jp only ?
