Sonim XP3400 Armor - User Reviews

  • phone got muted somehow and I can't get it unmuted

  • If you are looking for a dependable phone for text messages and phone calls this is it. Just replaced my old one today after nearly 10 years.

  • I have this XP3400 it was given to me, a used phone on an insurance deal at Pioneer Enid in Oklahoma. I had an Enduro before. I hate both of them especially the Armor. The keys are made for a childs fingers the screen for texts is yellow with white letters impossible to see. It drops calls won't send calls and BOTH are the most user unfriendly phone I have ever used. I constantly accidently send texts in the middle of the message because of the small face. They call em rugged I call em junk. It won't connect to a computer I asked sonim about it they sent me some drivers but they are not Windows approved. Still won't connect to pc. So I am stuck with a blatant "nearly" worthless phone.

  • can't send pictures with Bluetooth, doesn't seem to pair correctly

  • like the phone but polaris 6.2 browser is a joke.I can,t seam to find a upgrade

  • Software driving this phone is total junk!!!!!!!!!Keeps changing options on it's own, for example: it will change to mute on it's own, so you don't hear when phone calls come in.....change it manually to ring on calls, and a bit later it goes back to mute on it's own. PTT half the time doesn't work ......say "option not available" or will send an alert, when other person responds you can't hear them.....then all of a sudden it will work for awhile. Called carrier and they checked out service and said all was OK said it was a problem with the phone. Will be taking these back!

  • I have had this phone for about 3 years. I work in the industrial field( chemical plants, oil refineries, power plants, etc.) This phone has taken abuse that most other phones won't last a week in. I have worked with others who go and buy phones with amour cases and very good insurance, because they have to replace them regularly. This phone has never let me down.

  • The phone is complete garbage. Don't waste even a penny on it. The PC software coding is something from windows 95 and will not work with 7 or later operating systems at all. The software tech I spoke to recommended I install an earlier OS rather than tell me a work around for installing their defunct usb drivers on the pc. Even once I did get the unsigned drivers installed, it failed to initialize despite trying different com ports. Total waste of your money. Don't be fooled.

  • I like it! my job provides theses phones to us so I didn't have to pay shit it hasn't let me down and if it does then at least I don't have to pay for it ahaa I drop it on purpose to see what happens and it's still going strong

  • Total junk! I had mine a month and dropped it while standing halfway up a six foot ladder. The phone hit the pavement and when my helper picked it up the screen was shattered. It appears to have hit a pebble. Besides that the functionality is pretty archaic the only feature I found to be unusual was the voice recorder although it only records the receiving end of a conversation which renders it basically useless. The sad thing is how tough it's supposed to be. Pathetic! I went and got an I phone and have never looked back. I'm sure sonim won't be around much longer. To summarize: this phone is highly over-rated and not worth the money.

  • Had the Armor one week---was out of town until today. Phone center add on the phone advertises e-mail and now I find out that it is not intended for email or internet use. C-Spire manager lied to me. C-Spire tech said it would but they couldn't fix the issue until I was back in the C-Spire strong signal area. Making them trade.

  • i think it will make a good phone for someone who works outside or in the weather p.s. nice phone

  • This phone is the worst phone on the market and this company's customer service is non existent, all you get is a recording telling you to leave a message and they never call back.If you get this phone from Ntelos DON'T expect them to do anything about it,they just tell you to keep CALLING so basically your stuck with a two year contract and a phone that will break down unless you pay $50.00 and that's if you have insurance.....the 3 year warranty is basically non-existent..'I will never deal with NTELOS OR SONIM ARMOUR AGAIN AND I'VE BEEN WITH NTELOS FOR YEARS NOW.....THEY LOST MY RESPECT!!!!

  • Where can I buy this phone in Singapore? Please tell me the shop for this?

  • In three years sent the phone back 6 times. This includes the replacement/upgrade when I was told they couldn't fix/replace my quest pro so they sent 3300. Its been back 4 times and now they will not make good since my warranty is up even though the new phone has not worked within sonims specs since I received it. Horrible customer service. Retailer no longer deals in sonim for this reason. $500 dollar phone that operates worse than my $10 flip phone with $1 customer service. Stay away!

  • Does anyone know is that phone will work in Europe? the thing is that it says that it is a CDMA 800/1900 Mhz phone, but I am not sure if it work on GSM network.

  • I purchased the phone with hindsight that is has navigation and GPS. After spending hours searching I cannot find anything on the phone.

  • I was told you could download with this phone to the computer. OOPS LIE. The drivers are not digitally signed and do not work on the computer. This is CRAP and false advertisement. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!!

  • can any one help me with this, there may not be a feature that can be changed.

  • Is there a way to change the yellow back ground when you are texting its hard to see the white letters in the yellow back ground or change the white letters to black...

  • try putting a darker wall paper on the back i did the ice burg thing and i can see it,,and i wear glasses

  • yea me too no zoom feature thats a bummer and the driver download is not digitally signed which windows 7 requires,,and will not install properly,,

  • Its on your GENERAL PROFILE tone settings...the only problem is that your message alert tone has to be SILENT. This can only be used with VIBRATE.

  • Download the manual. Web search or from Sonim site.

  • So I have had the phone for just under a week and have been putting it through the paces. It has very few software features, but at least it has an .mp3 player. Except the "Battery Full" chime and indicator go off every 5 minutes. Their drivers for Windows 7 64bit operating system are not digitally signed and Windows rejects them and consequently their contact sync and modem tool program crashes when I try to run it. They don't have much of a customer support presence beside directing you to your local yocal service provider that don't know squat about the phone, and a generic comment box where you can leave your email address and hope for a response. If they would at least support their stupid phone with some drivers that work and offer a flash upgrade for their buggy phone, but I don't have much faith that Sonim will be around to make good on the 3 year warranty, so I'm getting out now and going with LG, Motorola, or Nokia.

  • i have had my sonim 3400 4 8 months i am having problem with charging i took it 2 the dealer ntelos they checked it out and said it was my charger but would not help me get the parts these parts can not b purchased from an electronic place like radio shak n ntelos would not help me get m there is nothing on web site saying where 2 get them my battery is dead what should i do????

  • Most durable, reliable handset on the market. Battery last an incredibly long time and is also changeable. I live in Alaska and hunt fish in a lot of semi-remote areas near Anchorage. Phone almost always has some kind of signal - much more than any other handset I've ever used. This is not an iPhone it a $150 rugged, durable phone. I only wish it had a zoom feature with the picture viewer....

  • I would like to How to change ring tones. Is there any booklet on this phone? I would like one if there is one. that explains every thing. or where to go.

  • I like the phone and all but what makes me mad is that i cant figure out how to turn off a tone that sounds like a beep everytime like a message has sent....i went thru everything and it still beeeps at me. If anyone knows how to get rid of that let me know thx.

  • I had this phone for 2 weeks and took it back. The phone feels great and is very tough, but the camera and music player are terrible - like something from 10 years ago. I need a decent camera for work and music player for my truck. If Sonim updates the camera and music player, I'll give it another shot.

  • how can you change the color on screen when outside cant see time or date its clear outside

  • To put music on the phone, you can sync it with Windows Music Player. You can use the supplied cable. If you try and copy and paste from your library, unless they are compressed MP3 files, you won't be able to get many CDs on the card. A card reader also comes in handy to use with the micro SD card.

  • try Expansys Malaysia

  • does anyone know who or what number to call cracked my screen cant see anything???

  • Does anybody know if there is a way to change the only texting ringtone that the Sonim XP3400 has?? I've only been able to find the one that comes standard PLEASE let me know!!! Thanks

  • where can i buy it in malaysia????

  • Sonim phones are really awesome i have one older version (XP1)been using it for over 3 years now, man the battery backup is still amazing ( 7 to 8 days once charged ), but the best thing is they replaced my phone when i accidentally cracked the glass (i was showing off to my guys, threw the damn thing from 5th storey it was still working) ; i guess time to buy this mean machine

  • When you need a tool not a toy! This phone does everything I need it to which is survive me and my jobs. I am a firefighter and when I am not on duty I do hihgrise window cleaning. This phone won't play games or have the new apps, but it will survive a 200'+ fall onto a subroof ask me how I know that one. It also has been dropped into a 5 gal bucket of soap water a couple of times and has no problems. I have a couple of hundred songs and the bluetooth works very well. Battery last just short of forever, I have had this phone for a couple of months and am very happy with it I am a C-Spire customer in MS.

  • if there is a place on the phone for games were is it.I got the drivers for my phone on my p.c. but I do,nt know how to down load music on my phone.?

  • I have not been able to find anyone that knows anything about this phone. I have one and c spire knows only how to sell it.

  • i totally agree. i have been trying to figure out if there is a way to change the only text tone it seems to have.

  • sonim xp3400 only has one message tone why would they not think of adding a way for the user to use his own message tones other than that, good phone.

  • Very few people are aware of Sonim, this is the ruggedest phone ever made, people who know what technology is and respect it, will go for such devices, Like sonim the other reliable handsets are of Motorola and Sendo. I respect this Companies ansd thie Cell Phones.. All the Best in the name of Research and Technology. Phonon
