Using this phone since 2009 till date (Feb-2017). Best Phone ever. Applications like FB, Opera, etc. run quite well even in parallel processing of phone functions and media player. As it run various java applications, it is a smart phone along with sturdiness! Unmatched Bass quality for in-pack headphones. This is what a phone should be. Alas Sony withdrawn support for it.

I've bought this phone in 2009 and used it for 2-3 years, when I passed it on to my mother. It's generally a decent phone, nice size, OK camera and good screen, and GPS as a bouns. It was quite decent for its time and price. However, some problems were persistent. The middle plastic part of its housing broke around the camera button for me three times, two during the warranty period when they replaced the piece. I didn't abuse the phone, so my bet goes towards it being a design fault. That wouldn't even be such a problem if the phone wasn't supposed to be splash and dust-resistant. The keypad is small and ergonomically a complete failure. Although the phone's housing seems quite solidly built, the details such as the aforementioned plastic piece and the M2 memory card slot cover piece seems to be unable to close properly ruin the final impression. The paint is prone to chipping but I'll give it that being due to its age rather than build quality. Otherwise, the phone seems decent, even if it's definitely outdated. The problematic Sony Ericsson charging port seems to work flawlessly even after 6 years, although it might have been replaced together with the plastic piece during it's visits to the service under the warranty period. The screen doesn't seem comically small coming from a 4.5" Android smartphone, the LED backlight is really useful, and the GPS, even if it can't be used for navigation without internet data connection or advanced third-party apps, is a nice addition. So I'd say it's a nice phone for it's age and price, even if it's full of small faults and obviously outdated.

I've had this phone for 4 years, the battery still lasts for 3 days. I have dropped the phone several times and water has spilt over it. It works perfectly. Internet works OK for basic stuff (e-mail, google maps, ebay). Definetely the best phone I've ever had.

By far the best phone I have ever had. Survived been dropped, thrown, falling in swimming pools, baths and sinks ('Splash proof' underplays it by a lot!) All worked perfectly until I lost it yesterday after 7 years!

Without a doubt the toughest phone I´ve ever had. It has survived many hard drops to the ground, being in the rain and covered in snow. I´ve had it for almost four years now and everything works like it´s new, except ONE THING... When the phone just exceeded it´s warranty, after two years, the camera broke down. Since then when I open the camera lens, the screen turns blank until I exit the camera and wait 30 seconds. When I google this problem, I get hundred or thousands of similar stories from other c702 owners, so this is obviously a factory fault. Very irritating, what can we do about this? Nothing? Comments please!

R.i.p. my C702. It is an amaizing phone. Very good camera. Bass is best when you listen to music. If it only had youtube and wi-fi It would be the best phone ever. My c702 cant charge any more .. Does anyone know why? Its KINDA old maybe the battery is dead .. I dunno.. :( + whats up with you all having these touch screen phones. Just sayin .. \__\

I have this phone since 2 years ago. I'm aircraft mechanic and this phone has served me very well in some hard moments at work (i.e. like a flashlight, as my eyes beyond my line of sight to check for loose parts in very small areas and has suffered several drops and diving. It's almost like a tank. But now I Need to replace it because sometimes it keeps turning on and off the camera randomly. But besides that, everything works like day 1. Great phone, really. Maybe I'll keep it running alongside my new phone.

Before I had Hanging problem because my firmware version was R3BA030. But recently I have flashed my mobile with R3EA037. As I think this is the most stable version for this device. And now my mobile works like a charm. Using 8GB memory stick without any problem as well as increase the overall performance...:)So you can try it...THANX

I have this phone for about 2 years now great great phone !!! Exelent camera. I my self still didnt figure out the gps thing. I dont need it. Video dj thing works perfect for those who like doing their own little videos. Vga is a pretty o.k. Quality. Btw this phone is great for fun. I recomend this one. But sometimes it self resets if being too much on internet or downloading a gigant picture of 3 mb fr xmpl . 9/10 for me. Gonna buy w705 this summer. Because i cant charge mine any more...... Broke it.....

I got this phone three years ago and it's just awesome ! The C702 can : - swim in beer (I won beers by proving it !) - swim in coca-cola - be washed in water (coca-cola sticks) - fall many time on every surface (asphalt, linoleum, from my pocket during moutain bike sessions) - call while it is raining - be used on the beach - be used on skiing (and snowman making...) - survive foam parties - get you lost using the GPS (or make you do more exercise to recover the good path...) - do much more awsome things... And it works fine today. As an "hardcore" user, I can say this is the best Sony Ericsson ever built ! (except the GPS)

ihad mine for 2 years and 2 months. out of the box, back then, it was shutting down by itself, which got cured by the software update. one time it had charging problems, power terminal connections maybe. and just this weekend, i had the chance to test the water--ablility of it and today is the 2nd day of me not having a phone. i'm serious. the phone is sturdy, dropped it so many times, and not those simple kind of dropping. after 2 months of having it, it was accidentally thrown out of a tricycle in motion, and when i went back to check it, it had some major scratches but the phone did not even turn off--was just on some names on the contacts, funny. The led lights really served me well, but not when it comes to the camera part. it almost blinds the people whom i tried to take pictures of. i was not able to make use of the GPS functionality, i didnt know how to use it. Battery life is somewhat poor. i apologize if the feedback or my thought is not as organized as it should. :P But this phone have served me well. Apir! :P

Its very easy. Download update service software from sony ericsson site install it. You need internet connection to update your mobile.

Absolute worst phone I have ever owned. This phone always turns off on its own, buttons are too small, always have problems charging the phone and now the phone wont charge at all, which means i have to buy a new phone and I only bought it a year ago. I will never buy Sony Ericson again. Ima go back to good old safe Nokia.

C702 is a good phone,, i have it for 2yrs now,, yes, some phones restart because of the software,, but this was easily sort out by updating the software thru the web,, lucky for me,, because mine didnt restart,, but my does,, so we update the software,, it is a very sturdy phone,, plus slight water proof, dust proof, shock proof,, and awesome camera, a gps locator,, hsdpa,, 3G,, and a great sounding phone,, whatmore can you ask for???

C510 and C702 are very much the same,, the only difference is that the C702 are dust resistant which means dust dont enter youre phone, and also water splash resistant which means you can text and answer calls while youre in the middle of the rain or shower,, while the C510, is much slimmer in desighn, and also the camera has smile detection, which locks on the face of a person when he or she smiles,,, in other features,, both are the same,, C702 are desighn for adventures people with dust proof and slight water proof, while C510 are for fashion and everyday life,,

I hv been using this model for 1 yr (or more)and experienced similar issues like yours since about 2-3 months ago. Mostly a lots (really a lot) of 'missed calls' and at times unable to call out until a fren shared with me how to resolve it. Change phone setting from 3G to GSM networks. Go to 'Settings' > Connectivity > Mobile Networks > GSM/3G Networks > then select 'GSM only' - the down side would be that you can't use 3G but no more missed calls for me since then

hmm..i think se lost their quality after an amazing quality with k800,since then we can see a lot of complaints when they introduce a new model..im using this phone almost a year n got a common issues like battery,restart phone,not a clear call but i think that a common things that will happen to most of any brand but the latest problem that happen to my phone, im not sure if others usage got same problem with me now,most of the times i cant make a call n send msg although at screen it appear full bar of lines and show operator name.1st in my head,it occured because of the location or problem with sim card.i make a complaint to the operator regarding for signal reception but they said my location is ok.so, i change sim card to other phone and its surprised me theres no problem to make call n send msg.so,its solely phone problem. so,is there anybody here got same problem with me n how to fix it.i have latest firmware n not install any crap software,things for my phone

Well, after two months, i'm so happy with my C702. This phone has Gps, I can watch my speed while i running with the tracker aplication it's awesome, The audio of this phone it's perfect. The pictures that takes it's nice in the day and night it's not too bad if there is a lot of light, so you can take pictures in the day because in the night doesn't help. I can chat in this phone with Windows live msn :D. Oohhh and the appearance for me it's the second or the same level of the K800... I recomend it.

I commented on 02.02.10 about bad experiences i was having with my SE C702, since then i took it back for repairs. On Saturday my phone died - completely, not my sim card or battery at fault the phone just will not start up. i have not damaged this phone in any way. i have experienced where it restarts on it's own as many others have mentioned. But now it just won't work. I was a Sony Ericsson fan, my first was a W810i which is still working as good as it was back then, but i think Sony Ericsson has lost the quality of phones they used to make...won't buy another Sony anytime soon... Totally disappointed!

This phone is not stable. As stated by some viewers here, it will restart itself and hang when u are on the line. Between the alarm is sometimes not functioning. Its just terrible =S

I've had this phone for about 14 months now, and it has been the most reliable, most useful phone I've ever had. Other than that the paint tends to wear off with usage - which isn't a big deal - the only deficiency is the lack of WLAN/WiFi support. Best features: 3G; camera sliding cover; durability; torch light controllable independent of camera. Worst issues: (Slightly) overcomplicated menus; peeling off paint; no WLAN support; 30 call records is too little.

I own this GSM for more then a year. Best phone I ever had. Opera mini works excellent, flash can work as lamp (excellent feature). I had problems with self reset. New software solved that problem. Also, SonyEricsson should consider to change calendar. Nokia seems to have better solution. Beside that I didn't have any objection on that phone. Pictures are also really nice. For what I need my phone this is just enough.

I forgot to tell you about the annoying keyboard design, that is hard to use and about the paint that went off at the corner areas, after a few months. Flashlight is awsome :), as the browsing experience if using Opera mini. You can play also youtube and other stuff. The display it is not so visible in sunlight, like other models, as k810. In fact I miss my old K810.

Do not drop this phone into water! The water will go inside it and will corrode all! I have changed already a keyboard module last month and now it went off forever after second accidentally bath. It is only dust and steam / water droplets proof, according to IP54 specifications. It has also a bad manufacturing quality, looks like cheap plastic and it has defective fitting of case components. If you like java games, do not update software, other the games will run worse. Anyway, the overall java performance is poorer than others. I found GPS not so useful, because the lack of serious Java applications and poor processing speed. The sound is also medium quality. Personally I do not recommend this model. By the way, I have a broken C702. If you need components, just tell me :)

I bought my C702 in October last year (2009). Since i bought the phone the camera has been unable to zoom. Yesterday, my phone froze in attempt to reboot i phone i removed the battery. When I restarted my phone i realised that i have lost my network connection although my sim card was still in place, i then tried to charge my phone and i got an error message saying that i must use a sony ericsson battery and the battery i'm using in my phone is the original battery that came in the box when i bought it? I also find that this phone freezes at random quite often or it would won't allow me to receive calls unless i restart it... It's frustrating and annoying! I bought a Walkman in 2006 and that phone hasn't given me half the problems the C702 has!

Have you tried upgrading your firmware? I havent had shutdown and hang problems after updating to the latest firmware. One way of saving battery is turning 3G off if your not using it. My phone last normally for 3-4 days on normal use.

My wife gave C702i to me,been using 3 days,great phone except for call/end key too small and keypad/buttons too hard to press.Had to use finger nails to press so will tear the keypad in few months,so i use silicon case,problem solved.Other than that great phone with less blury cybershot,nice adjustable bright display,decent speaker,nice design,solid built.I've never put it near water,don't have the guts to.But less worry if it does.

this phone isn't all what SE says it to be.. its not resistant to anything.. the paint is worn out just after a few months. the buttons don't feel as you type, the worst of all its dam dam dam slow, oh and i've done all the firmware updates via SE sites ..spoken to SE south africa and nada thing has changed, i had the k750i before this and now i'm using it coz this thing is to slow.. i type a letter and i get it 3 to 5 secs l8r on its worst days its best well lets put it at 1.8 secs to respond . by then i've already pressed the wrong letter coz i overshot the t9 assist . if u looking at this phone consider its older generation.. k750i had a prob with the joystick but other than that its works 100% even though its nearly 4 and half year old . i'll post pics up to show u.. i use my phone its in my pocket like any body else..keys sometimes rub at it ..or coins ..i take care of it..but this model i regret.

What a difference a software update makes. I bought this phone in aug 08, i was looking forward to it, and then when i finally had it it sucked... Always freezing and shuting down... It was bad. Foolishly i never updated the software. Finally I went to the sony website and gave it a shot, I was on the edge of buying the cliq. But with the new software, its like i have a new phone. its faster, does not freeze, and its what i wanted. Have problems, new software is the answer.

i had both and they're so close. the same basically. the c702 is slightly bulkier and c510 got much more confortable keypad. also c510 has scratch resistant screen. but c702, again :P has gps and ip54 certificate. i'd say it's a more robust and durable. and it's got charisma, in my subjective opinion. it can go both way, i guess, depends on personal taste

I have the black version of C702 for three months now. For a Java based dumbphone it's a decent piece of work. GPS is as quick and reliable as one could expect from such small device. GPS Assistance from GSM network helps a lot in civilized areas, but the precision of navigation may suffer in areas with poor GSM signal coverage. Still, you won't get lost with it, and in areas with decent GSM coverage you can even try geocaching. I myself use the phone for GSM based games like GPS Mission. Make sure you understand your operator's data plan costs or have an unlimited data pack, as prolonged navigation can be quite costly. Camera is of above average quality (for a phone). It has only LED flash, but mobiles are never good enough for making pictures at dark. Xenon flash would make the phone even bulkier and it makes the pictures taken in low light conditions look ugly anyway. If you won't rely on automatic settings and fiddle a bit with the camera settings for specific light conditions, you can get nice enough pictures and always correct them afterwards, using PhotoDJ app in the device. The pictures are a bit too noisy, but there is a software for PC (Noiseware), which is able to remove the noise from the pictures. You have to recharge the battery at least every other day, if you use the phone moderately (make calls, surf the web, play media, etc.). GPS navigation drains the battery a lot, so make sure your phone is fully charged if you plan to use the GPS navigation longer. -The phone has heightened ressistance against moisture, water drops and dirt. Don't ge too happy though and better don't sink it into water, like some people show you in YouTube. They are gambling with their warranties. It was not built for scuba divers! What I'm not satisfied with : -You can't set the period of display backlight. This can be quite annoying if you read something on the web, you have to push a random button every 15 seconds, otherwise the backlight will shut down. -The silver glossy paint from the navigation cross button has chipped down a bit. It's not very visible, but I wonder for how long it can last. Tip : don't push the navigation cross button with your fingenails. -The pick-up/hang buttons are too small for bigger thumbs. It's a matter of getting used to it, but if you have to pick up the call quickly and you don't look at the phone, you can accidentally push a nearby button. Otherwise I'm quite satisfied. C702 is a decent middle class device, suitable for urban people and outdoor trips as well. It has it's flaws, but which phone doesn't.

i have a problem w/ my c702 i've been using it for a year unfortunately after 1 year unit warranty problem exist when a week ago after using my phone w/ usb it cant charge anymore... everytime i tried to plug the charger w/ my phone it says BATTERY CANNOT BE CHARGED. c702 supports gps. also c702 records qvga video at 30fps. k810 has xenon flash but records qcif video at 15fps. c702 videos are acceptbla but k810 is not. furthermore, c702 is newer phone with faster cpu and better firmware capabilities. therefore, personally i perefer c702. also the price of theses phones are close to c901. if u can afford buy c901.

using gprs and the phone browser u can open facebook and gsmarena with any java phone. there are several good browsers for java phones like g705 and c702 such as "ucweb" and "opera mini" browsers which can be downloaded and installed. also there is a youtube software for java phones but i havent work with it personally and i dont know if it works properly or not. with this software "youtube" can viewed with java phones. usually smart phones support "youtube" software without any additional software. in the case of internet browsing c702 and g705 don not differ. only g705 supports an aditional type of connection which is wifi.

if u are careless, slider phone is not a good option for u. according to my exprience, slider phones damage more. wifi is for connecting to internet. but wifi service is available in speciall places such as airports, universities and .... both of phones can connect to internet via GPRS which is always available. the camera of c702 supports autofocus. this means it can take clear photoes even from close distances. also the camera of this phone is cybershot. it means the lens quality is much better.

I am totally happy with this phone. The camera quality for a little camera is great and can defend itself against the big guys(not the Satio!). I just want to know, if you tilt the phone in Media, does it change to landscape or portrait by itself? Other than that, I love it. I will stick with SE and maybe get the Satio in 2010?

I just have to add that the power-off problem was fixed very early in the program updates. however the phone is still pretty slow to use. We have bought at least 200 of this phone in our company, and the average user is very satisfied with this mobile. C902 had too high SAR (radiation) values so we are currently in lack of an alternative as this mobile is now no longer produced.

Pictures are awful with this phone, my K790 took great pictures, this one leaves a lot to be desired. If you use the flash, pictures look yellow. Menu gets scrambled when scrolling through it. Phone does wear quickly, scuff marks on it already, only owned for 3 months.

I had just tried Tracker-GPS program of this phone and all I can say is that its very good. You may also load a GPS program if you dont like the built-in software. And take note, using Tracker-GPS program is for free. Only downside is that there are times (occasionally) its hard to connect to a satellite.

i have it for a week and so far i'm delighted. not a smallest problem of any kind. the tracker sport program is awesome! it messures your speed, distance and calories, detects you move direction change in a couple metres diameter via gps, which also works great. overal build quality seems great, also the feel when held in hand. only the keypad could be better, but after you use to it, it shouldn't be a trouble. great device

The Sony Ericcson C702 is a very nice looking phone... Ive had it for well over a year but I dont think I can recommend it to anyone! Here are the list of problems I face with it: 1) The colour from the sides peels off after some time so it looks older than it is 2) It freezes frequently 3) When Im talking to a person at times I cant hear what they are saying but they can... This happens multiple times during a conversation for about 10 secs at a stretch... very annoying 4) The call waiting tone and the message received tone can be heard by the person on the other end of the line (dunno if this happens on other phones) 5) When I dial a number not on my contact list the phone hangs 6) The phone hangs when I attempt to put on hold and answer another call 7) Pictures taken in the night look yellow! Now am I the only one facing these issues!!!

I don't think so.. I already update regularly the software, and it does the job.... never hang never restart, and quick sattelite acqusition than my old garmin.... I also setup my pushmail and it did perfectly... with gmail server... Verry recommended phone, since my collection were siemens : S6, S4P, S10Active, M35, ME45, M65, M75 and Nokia 5500sport. Actually not only have a-GPS, it has internal GPS engine, It can lock satellites signal and provide exact even in the remote area where none of signal from telco. the problem was battery stamina. But can save more time if we charged properly.

Ijust bought this phone last July 25... the style(layout of keypads/controls),is extraordinary. It won't slip out of your hand even if its wet because the back cover is rubberized. Stills pictures is very good but video, is not as comparable to stills. However, I hate the way they made this because the zoom can only be use in a vga format much more for a 2x only. Overall rating for me, this is a good mobile phone specially with a A-GPS.

i had my c702 at august 2008. it always restart when i type a word to google i update it at sony ericsson office, but it don't fix it. then i also get problem in my games and application folder. there is many files duplicated and couldn't be opened. i had to reset it for 9 times to fix it. and the camera is poor!!!! i hate it. one month ago, i lost it. i don't sad because my c702 is lost, because it is very poor for design, performance and also the feature!!! i hope no body buy this phone again. It doesn't zoom when the camera quality is above VGA. I think all Cybershot phones are like that. It's because SE believes that if you zoom in the camera's highest quality, the zoom will make the picture look like lower quality because of the digital zoom. It's fine with me. You can zoom a lot into the picture when you're in the album anyway.

I don't know what you guys do to your phones, but I've had this phone for 1 year now. I have no problems with it. I access the iternet very quickly on EDGE network with flash support. It takes good pictures (the pictures are comparable to 5mp camera phones because of the great Cybershot quality). It has never failed me. It never hangs and I've never had to restart it. I've dropped it more than 5 times now but it still works (one scuff on the top of the phone though). The only problem is the phone takes a while to fully turn on. It takes 32 seconds to power on. Otherwise it's a good phone.

We got 3 Sony Ericsson 702 phones. 1 got stolen, the remaining 2 switch themselves off randomly. Only use it as a phone, (I have an iPhone for all the non-call making phone applications which is great, especially after updating the operating software (free of charge via the internet). Bought for the dust / moisture resistance properties. Since it`s started to turn it`s self off I`ve given up on it in favour of the iPhone. I think the camera function is probably punching a bit above it`s weight in terms of how prominently it features in the phone`s packaging. Henry

It's been about 1 yr that i have been using my C702. Guys but there is nuthhing to worry about the camera quality becoz the new updater has fixed almost all the problems... But a problem has occured in my fone.. It had once fell and now the camera isn't working at all... As soon as i flip my camera covers or open camera the display goes off until i off the fone..But it's still taking the pictures when i look into the camera album.. I have had this phone for over a year now,It works fine, camera is good, but my gripe is the 1.build quality, it looks so tatty, it is not abused, just kept in my coat pocket, my last Sony,K800, still looks like new & its nearly 3 years old. 2nd gripe, and the main one, is the answer key, way too small. I like the C903 but have concerns about the plastic covers, so it looks like I will be changing to Nokia after 3 Sony handsets, the Nokia 6700 looks favourite.

been using it for 6months. the features are good except it switches off by itself and also sometimes the phone is not ringing (but still vibrating) when there is incoming calls. these 2 fault is undermining its primary role of a comms device (increasing missed calls). not a recommended model especially for a long time nokia user.

have been using this phone for 5 months now. Really happy with it. Have used the iphone, omnia and SE G900 before but realised that this is the phone for me. I can live wtout touchscreen. Weather proofing is an added bonus. Not even once has it hung. GPS/google works great. Batt life could be better tho. Charging it every 1 - 2 days but I guess that is normal nowadays.

gday folks, after many,many other fones and some were good for what they were designed for (nokia 5310 muso ex, w810i etc..)i am now using this fone and have to say so far so good. flash it to get rid of any network branding and it works faster and only very slight lagging, shock, water, dust resist is good and camera and music sweeet. i keep in mind that if i want great music or photos i have to get a mp3 player and a digi cam but i dont wana carry around 3 different devices at once when i can have them all on one quality device that does the job just as well. like most things in life if you look after it it will look after you. cheers. peace

This phone does not live up to expectations. The concept is great but the execution very poor. Response time is awful, it switches off a couple times in a day and the screen cannot be read in daylight conditions. The black background and lack of high contrast visibility is a pain on a phone to be used outdoors. Had it for almost a year expecting a software upgrade but have now given up and throwing it in the bin!!

I have this phone currently and have had loads of problems with the software, but as it is on contract have to keep it till March 2010. I've found the camera is alright but its began to turn its self off randomly whenever something touches it even slightly, and at times when i get texts and calls. Therefore is pretty much rubbish. I wouldnt recommend it.

I have this phone for more than a year now... Here is my experience with this phone: - Camera is almost useless. The picture mostly in bad quality. - Very often it hung. Don't know the exact reason. - Why the radio station nickname can't be displayed on the screen? - Push button on microphone headset useless when playing radio. On Nokia, it function is to switch to the next station. - At one time, suddenly it couldn't play the flash file anymore. After updating the software: - It restart to the main menu everytime I access the bookmark. :(( - It hung when i depress the volume button to search radio station. The good news is that the GPS working at its best. At least it can show me where I am (in Indonesia). Also, the water resistance is as promised. I rinsed my C702 with water and still alive now.

Pictures taken should be as realistic as possible. So if the camera light gives yellowish light the pictures should be yellowish. If it doesn't, it shouldn't.

OMG, the yellowish sense is missing now! You'll need to downgrade when you want to take a photo with yellowish sense and then upgrade again if you don't want the hangs and the yellowish sense. Hopefully the next firmware upgrade will add some options, so you can configure if you want the yellowish sense and/or the hangs.

At first I want to tell you I'm a real fan of sonyericsson ,My ext was k750i ,,, But this model have some negative things! for example dialing any number is not easy and the size of keys is the problem, gps system is good, but you should be in the range of internet covering area. The pictures quality is not what I was think and I think we should call it 1mpixel camera! [ at end sorry for my speling ] and I will buy a K750 again !!

It says it is "splash" proof not water/liquid proof. Pouring is very different from splashing. I bought one and I dipped it in a pool and fortunately it's still working! So far so good! ;)

I have the same problem camera doesnt function! not even the leds or the front camera ( please let me know if you have same problem ). I were in a moist place for a while but as far as i thought this phone should be resistant about something like this. but it's not and when get wet inside it realy hard to dry it becouse it is splash and dust resistant! truly im disappointing with the camera from this phone got used it from nov2008. after installed with modded cam the result is same, pic quality is far from so-called cybershot (im sony c/shot fan) & getting worse in low light mode. the autofocus very slow to focus and there many time i lose best opportunity to snap best candid moment..:P the silver painting also getting off after use it (normal, not for sport)in 3 month. what i like? the music sound is fine through speaker, bright screen & really nice shape n look tough

hi sarin i bought c702 3 months back. The music and camera is good. The music is very similar to walkman if you have into ears speakers. The problem is , the colour of the paint(silver) is going off at the edges. I saw this c 510 recently, its looking good and its very slim. i would suggest to go for c510.Check with the camera features.

Well, tracker is implemented in all SE GPS phone. It's been 3 months since the first day I lay my hand on this phone. Never had serious problem with it. I've change the camdriver (which u can find at e s a t o . c o m) and also I've put trekbuddy maps inside my phone. I'm using 4GB Sandisk M2 memory. No lags, unless when I'm doing multitasking like playing MP3 + GPS on + Java Games. I've updated the firmware twice (R3DA029 and R3EA037) using seus. I choose this phone because of its water splash resist capabilities. I had water-damage issue with my previous phone which is also an SE phone, K320i.

Yes, do NOT buy the black one! The black one is for very cool guys only and I managed to make lots of paint wear off from it. Due to my hard usage the silver paint above the black display border and even on the sides is worn off. Very cool!!!

@fariz K-800i have a much better camera in anyway than C-702!!!!!!! I made some tests in macro mode, landscape, poor light conditions etc... K-810i have the same camera like K-800 so that phone is also much better than C-702 in camera functions... i have that phone! (lot of noise in picture quality in one word poor sad SE...). Matt.

Very bad camera for a 3.2 Mp. My 'outdated' K750i and W810i 2 Mp cameras seem to take much better photos even in bad light. Also the battery life is extremely bad. I get maximum two days, even without using the gps and my network is set to GSM only. Said to be dust proof but my phone already has dust particles behind the screen cover. One of the few or maybe only positive thing about this phone is the software. Texting is hard at the start but I got used to it quite soon. Texting is quiet, almost no ticking when pressing the keys. Overall I wish I had taken the C902. Sony Ericsson you'd better start employing better quality control and design teams. I've been a SE fan until I got this phone.

Yes "very nice" phone, i have this phone for a 1.5 month and i see now a few bad things about c702. The paint usually wear off after 8-9 months of use... but mine mask... case... is allready in bad condition... i see black plastic above the screen display (never had a single drop or a key contact!!!). Very bad paint!!! One more bad stuff about this phone: I bought M2 micro SanDisc 2GB... when i using music player... music had a stop and go while playing (files are in superb quality) that's not a problem? When i wanted to back up some pictures and videos from phone 2 pc i found out some missing segments or deviations on pictures... but on the phone they look all right? And finaly now phone have a few stops and go and somethimes go to complete still ... freeze... ... bye for now

yey! im loving this phone now :D i finally decided to whole heartedly love et! :D first i accepted that all the glitches will less likely be resolved by any software update especially if its a hardware failure (the shutting down) and of it, being outdoor-y. one fine day i went to the beach, i had to take a motorcycle ride to the resort, it was in fullspeed and we heard something which made us stop and look back..guess what that is, ahehe! my sony ericsson c702, screen facing down, with hardcore scrathes on the top sides of the screen! when i went to pick it up, it was on the phone book (it was on, come on!) ive seen nothing like that! i was amazed & worried at the same time. i dont know if they do cover accidental damages..but i played music, called my bestfriend, and everything is perfectly fine..opera worked right away...NO HARM..just the hardcore scratches which makes me love this phone all the more.. DROP IT LIKE ITS HOT! hoyeah! btw, i was also the person who said i poured water right onto the speakers and it worked real fine after some minutes...i must say that my phone, has been to its extremes..ahaha! in almost 2months this comming 13april :D notbad :D ahehehe!

rgding tshark, work the same as o mini, download it from mobile9.com under c702 sofware, sub internet. its not so rounded like o mini, zoom with 5, 3 levels of zoom, landscape with 0 and 3 for cursor scroll. sitting is under tools, sub prederences. but opera mine sould work, try to downloud it from mimi.opera.com there you would find on option to install another version, try some certificate versions. hope it help christian

@ yellowdogfood. -shortcut key malfunctioning is the only glitch I have experience so far. I have'nt installed much 3rd party software other that a Doc viewer. So far everythings working fine. Havent experience shutdown glitch again after installing firmware other than the one previously installed. - IPX 54 is rating on how much its water and dust proof. our phone is IPX5 on dust, IPX4 on water. for more info see link @mich - maybe your a Nokia user, moving to another model is really hard at the beginning. Besides, they have to make the keys a bit harder, due to the phone being water proof. @Christian - the phone is splash resistant but is not waterproof! =D Dont submerge it underwater, good thing your phone is still working after doing that. @ yellowdogfood, reg aps and slachproof. Wel al mi apps runs well. Opera mini 4.2 is a bliss. Even t-shark runs good. And all mi gamer from mobile9 instal without a glitch. Waterproof no. Had mine 4 about 10 minuter under 1m plus water. Had to open it up just to get te water out. But stil works fine.

@bachwitz uhm, so you have already experienced the glitch, welcome to the mystic world of c702, but yeah considering that the phone suites us make me think twice about selling this and getting another phone..whats ipx45? sorry..not really phone-feauture natic..the splashproof feature is what caught me, really. i really feel bad for not having to install opera mini. and itll just reboot when you try to install games or launch any application, its like, the board cant handle much of the process thats why it just shuts down--my view is, there isnt any fix for that--its hardware malfuntion--unless they (se) come up with a board or waht not that'll replace all c702units ..uhm which kindof seems impossible..i really feel sad...haaaaaaays :( @carlo: yeah, i feel the same way dude. are you thnking of selling this? i feel like it, but the price depreciates so fast and i think if i were to sell this it it would only amount to 60% of the orig price since its already a month old--A MONTH OLD! sigh*

@ yellowdogfood .. I just realized now that occasionally that the shortcut key still malfunctions. .. the only issue I have for this phone is the battery life. My previous phone is a T610, I had never change the battery for five years and battery was still lasting 3-5 days (5-7 days when first bought). On this phone its just 2-3 days, real bummer. ... replacement? hmmmn. Im an outdoor-sy person and this phone suites me well. If you could suggest a phone with similar features (IPX45) then I might consider that. =)

i bought this last month and on my first use it was okey, but then as i dig dipper on its features i found out that its not worth it.. I have so many problems, the camera was not that good, flash is not okey- its only a mere light, and the worst is that its shutting down for no reason.. I hate this phone so much...

to abdsue - ur problem is so simple just go to settings go to general icon then look for security... choose phone protection and TADAAHHH!!!... u are now ready to enter your desired pin # but first ur phone will ask for your default/old pin just press 0 5x then enter your new pin thats it... I hope that will do...

SE C702 is fantastic! what truly amazes me is its GPS capability and had found it very useful. The camera is of Cyber-shot caliber i should say, i don't know from other users who's saying that this phone's camera is crap, but resolution and performance wise, C702's camera is top of the line. Even for just 3.2MP, it can give you crisp, real life photos all the time. Though I for very occassional instances encountered this phone restarting on its own, It never hanged of froze like what other first hand users are complaining. Also, the battery life is average, about 2-3 days under normal usage. Moreover, considering its value added features, like splash+dust resistant, face detetion, geo tagging, tracker, this phone is worth every centavo. So, go ahead! you're up for a treat with this phone! SE C702 rocks!

@yellowdogfood 1) I dont have this problem since installing the firmware even before the latest one. 2) Havent had this problem since since installing the latest firmware. 3) from what I read from other discussions, this happens when there are other applications running. 4) Havent tried this one yet. 5) GOOD TO KNOW! =D

i had that update, where in you have to take out the battery, plug in the usb cable while pressing the letter c. ahm, yeah i must say, it restarted less than it did before, however, it still cant install the opera mini, either says memory full, while i still have 500mb left on memcard, or operation failed--for some unknown reasons..:( IT WOULD BE BEST IF SOMEONE FROM SONY ERICSSON try and tell us what the problems ar about, so that we can understand why it does all those glitches 1) restarts by itself on random circumstances 2) the shorcut key sometimes just loses its fucntionality 3) when media is on, the phone tends to be sluggisg (i think it dint do it before the SW UPDATE) 4) it still cant install the opra mini (havent tried other applics though..any suggestions? 5) believe it or not, out of my disgust after a week of getting this phone, while it was playing some real good music, I POURED WATER RIGHT ON THE SPEAKERS..which minimized the sound volume for just 10 mins, and after that the SOUND WENT BACK TO NORMAL--as if nothing happened. :D Oh and by the way, after three days i think, i misplaced the headset knowing it was just in my jacket, just in time when laudry was done. i found it next time i wore the jacket, plugged it on the phone, and sound as normal as it should..ahehe.. wha dye think? ahehe.

R3EA037 seems to have some great improvements! What I noticed first is the phone is not frozen for several minutes when inserting a memory card with lots of files or switching the phone on. You can almost immediately start java apps. Zooming in other than VGA mode is however still not possible. But I think there are some improvements to picture quality. Anybody can confirm this?

Had just updated my firmware to the most recent. So far the UI seems to faster. Specially when typing sms and searching phonebook when sending sms. The problem of shortcut window (my shortcuts, new events etc.) crashing seems to be ok now. Before I need to restart my phone to have it running again. Will keep you guys posted for improvements.

sorry to say its the worst phone i have ever had its been back for repair after only 4 weeks and now waiting to be sent back again for same fault with the camera,the phone hangs when making a call or texting,they tell you that its dust proof but i have dust on the inside so not a very good phone.

i've just upgraded the firmware today using SEUS. the latest is R3EA037. everything had speed up, really good. and so far no problem. btw, previously cannot update using the update service option in the phone. dont know why..

If You are on photos, choose k810, i had it....photos are much better, and not just becouse of flash...but, video is greater with c702, display is greater with c702, bigger also,gps, hsdpa, 160 mb of eternal memory... Pad is very easy to use (comparing to joystick on k810), typing the messages also.... If You keep phone software updated which is easy, You`ll be very satisffied. I`m... Player looks great and manu more little usefull changes in comparation to k810

Keypads are comfortable to use since they are bigger than those of the K550. So far this phone is great, been using it for about 7 months. Only some minor pealing of the silver paint on the side of the phone, but not such a big deal.

Hello Guyz, I need your help please. Which one should I choose, c702 or k810i? I liked c702's looks and it's splash proof feature and all, but the down side is its LED flash. It doesn't have a lot of cybershot feature like the k810 have. This phone is a balance between a walkman and a cybershot phone though. But I'm more on to pictures. Unlike K810i, it got this image stabilizer, red eye reduction, Best-Pic and most of all, a xenon flash. The only thing I don't like about k810 is its navi key that looks like a joystick. On my previous experience of this type of navi key, it got busted in less than a year!!! These are also the comments of my friends...I also am not comfortable with the looks of the keypad though (hehehe). But with its cybershot feature, this phone rocks.. What do you think should I consider in choosing between these two phones? Any advise from SE fans? Thank you very much in advance.

this is a good phone...but suddenly it become dead after 7 days from the date of purchasing. under warranty i sent it to workshop, at first which is before 1 week' they said battery burnt today they said internal circuit has to be replaced and for that i will have to wait another 3 days. I got this as a replacement for my Nokia N73. What a piece of crab this is. Really bad ergonomy. It doesnt work with Parrot Bluetooth car kits. The GPS is really slow. I want my Nokia back!

i suggest all user update to latest firmware using SEUS for stability.. after that, if you wanna improve ur camera shots, try google Number One's camdriver or (N1 camdriver), get it fast..! Change it with the original camdriver, and you'll get awesome shots everytime!! -noise pixels become smaller in size -dark area picture is much closer to actual darkness, very least reddish or greenish pixels -the famous blur (like gaussian blur in photoshop applied) close to picture frames or edges is now gone (ori camdriver focuses only in the middle of picture, like james bond intro, u know what i mean) Don't know how to change camdriver? USE GOOGLE NOW!!

I've just tested camera in this phone, my broyher has got n78 i must to say that camera in n78 is much better than that in c702 sharpness is very low when you have selected 3 Mpix you can't make zoom. noise is than high that i can saw it without zoom in made photo you dont need to zoom to see how camera is not good sorry for my english, im polish

well, is been a month since i bought this phone, everything seems fine, haven't drop it, splash water on it or whatsoever.. the camera is a bit tricky to use tho, try to use the correct aperture value, (use -2.0 and turn flash on to capture macro shot, this method is better i think.) Twist the screw. Slide your thumbnail between the M2 cover and the rear cover. Slide your thumbnail down towards the base of the phone. Simple! (ish)

may be its a faulty one. i had k810 before and the battery supposed to last me 4-5 days like my SE w700, alas, it only took me a day or a day and a half to fully drain it. may e it's grounded or something. i believe that SE phones rocks, but because these phones are mass produced, there's a possibility that some are defective either from hardware or software... anyways good luck on your next phone if ever you decided to buy a new one {^^,}

And I agree that the most annoying thing in the world is talking with a customer and suddenly having your phone frozen, only to find out later that the customer phoned another company cause "...they couldn't reach me." Hai, I got this phone just a month ago, and I like it. I never have any problem with it, so far I never accouter freezing or bug in this phone. The only downside for me is that, there is no really good GPS application on this phone. Wayfinder navigation application is very good, but I always need Internet even though I have use the Way finder maploader to load the entire maps of Australia in my phone. Thank You

Guys, I compare cam of k810i vs c702 and found out that c702 is poor, *when taking picture (c702) for moving object its always blured vs *when taking pic (k810i) for moving object the result is very clear and I tried shaking this phone while taking picture and the result is clear pic. are there any solution for this prob of c702? pls help me. thanks

sorry, man, but your naive tone provoked me. you're right, sorry. well, i, for first, don't have this moby, i only had an short experience with it, and considering to what i know about my k800/g502, and hpm-70 handsfree stereo headset. and i think the sound of walkman phones is basically the same. the difference can only be software-feature wise,(like shake control, "sense me" feature, or some minor walkman player upgrades), and a dedicated music keys control. and bigger m2 card and better headsed shipped with it(HPM-82)

on what planet do you live? any modern phone in this price/feature range can be used as a music player. This phone can have up to 32 gigabytes(or even 64, with newest m2 cards) of external memory with it's hot swap functionality. It's got a great music player 3.0 software, with mega bass support and good audio quality output. And the headsets that comes with it in the retail package are better than iphone's standard headphones, for example.

I have the c702 a few months now and I just love it.Its never once froze on me and the camera is fantastic on it. I had the k850 and sold it for this one. Worst cell phone I've ever used - and I've used a lot!!! After only 4 months of use and without having ever dropped it, it was in a sorrowful condition: 1- Random freezes. Freezing while listening to a song or playing a java game is not a big deal, but freezing while you're on an important business call can drive anyone crazy. It started gently after a month of use with ~1 freeze per 10 calls and lately it was about ~1 freeze per 3 calls. 2- Camera. No comments on that one - the other posters have covered me completely. 3- Many times I plugged it in for recharge while it was switched off and it showed me that it was charging. I returned after a couple of hours ready to go to work only to find it switched on (!!!!!!) and still drained of any battery life. 4- GPS functioned whenever it liked. Sometimes it was a matter of seconds and sometimes it could never get a signal - and I'm talking about the same place and a time span of a quarter of an hour. I trully pity the poor guy who stole it from me on New Years Eve... I'm now a happy owner of a k770. DON'T THROW YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THAT JUNK!!!

..Like any other phone on the market, in low light conditions. C 702 at least has a LED light which can be used in video recording and as a flashlight, which is another thing k810 doesn't have. No phone is truly scratch resistant either, but this mob is claimed to have mineral glass protected screen, which is better than nothing. C702, no contest. It's got a HSDPA, and very usable GPS. QVGA 30 fps video recording, vs. QCIF 15 frames per second, of k810. Also a manage messages feature, and upgraded software. Better camera interface featuring smile detection, geotagging etc. Also, last but not least, bigger and much brighter, viewable, scratch-resistant display. Only advantage of k810 is the xenon flash

I have the TM506 and my favorite thing about the phone is when I can set a caller id picture and when someone texts me the picture shows up.Also, I can set individual text message tones for different contacts. Ex-My boyfriends text ringtone is J.Holiday and everyone elses is a normal tone. Does this phone do either of those? No, you cannot remove it (I have also tried it) It tells you your network capability. if your handset support multiple type of networks then it is for you to know what type the handset is using. 'G' stands for GPRS. When you move to a place where your network provider is supporting Edge, it will change to 'E', so you would know that edge is enabled now. There is no harm in showing it, its rather useful, because you know that you can do a video call or high speed download rather then cursing your phone or network operator.

This phone is by far the WORSE handset I have ever had. The phone has more falts in it than.... well a thing that sufferes from faults a hell of a lot Drops calls, mic stop's working durning calls. hnadset will turn it self off at random intervals, and will freaze up when writing a text. Some times it likes to freaze just as you go to make a call. and the slidinh shutter on the handset has broke as well I always liked Sony Ericsson phones, my K800i was one of the best handset I have ever had, even with a stick that gathered grit easily, so I though would would be wrong about getting a handset that had fundamentaly the same features. I do admit I got it for the deal, but the phone really takes the pee . Sadly I just cant trust or depend on the c702. Perhaps it's just me that has suffred from it's faults, I dont know. But this may fit in with why sony have recalled it from sale. It's a great size and it's water resistant, so at least it does what it says on the box. in summary. a Bloody Awfull handset!

I'm now so annoyed with the indoor video recording "abilities" of C702i (R3DA029) that I'll use my old K750i tomorrow for doing indoor recordings though K750i has lower resolution. But I've compared quality today and it actually differs light years. K750i needs much less light for making really good recordings. SE will you ever fix this for C702i? I bought thus phone last november. I'm pretty much contented with the camera during day time, however it's REALLY not good for dark shots. I've had some issues since this phone restarts like twice a week. Someone advised me to update the firmware, so i did. However, it just got worse. It can't save pics and videos anymore, can't install games and connect to the internet. I followed the instructions carefully and I tried updating the firmware twice. But it's still not working. I'm so upset. What should i do?

Yes, c702 is already available here in the Philippines, you can get one in any malls, cyber store, or any establishment that sells mobile phones, just make sure when you buy one it has a warranty bundled on it, and there are several Sony Ericsson service centers already in the Phils.

you cannot definitely use the digital zoom if the camera is set to 1,2 and 3MP..you can only use the zoom function if you set the cam to VGA mode and VIDEO mode...

I have been using this phone for a month now, and my verdict is 9/10...good camera capture for 3.2MP, sound quality is acceptable, let's put this in mind that we cannot compare the sound quality of cybershots to those of walkmans...user interface is good, however video is not of good quality...the only problem i had before is that i cant save some vidoes and games in my memory card, later on, i found out that its not a genuine M2, i replace the M2 and pooof (it became koko crunch) problem solved...

I'VE USED IT FOR 3 MONTHS NOW : Little bit slow specially when you try to browse the contact names ! Speaker is not that loud and i can say it's really low compared with W850i ! GPS is not easy to use ( may be i don't need it & like it as'll ) ! The price i believe is High ! (400$) The camera is it not that much , night mode is really bad even if you are using Flash ! I've tried the mobile in the water.. it was really nice and nothing happened to it . The buttons are really small specially the Answer & Reject keys !!! The Design is really nice and cute, i would recommend it for girls (the Blue one).

I have this phone for about three weeks now, and I faced the problem of freezing and shutdown, but it is solved by updating the firmware of the phone. But there are a new problem exist in this phone, The Activity menu Key doesn't respond each time I finish searching for update to my phone. settings > general tab > update service > search for update > (wait till the phone finished searching and told you that you have the latest update) >then press the activity menu key it willn't respond, untill you restart your phone then it will work again. I reinstall the phone software and the problem still exist. Anyone have the same problem ? pls feedback

i know about thats. its an old method to changing place all files move to m2 area. but this problem always happen at all A200 Phone. fairly... A200 UI Have nice interface rather than A100 UI and another side A200 STILL have frezee time and auto turn off. c702 is not the only one, plz look at another series as k850, k660, w760, w890 etc etc. all is have a same problem like thats. this is about reality of A200 UI. nope..actually it doesn't hang when all of your files are save in the M2 mmc...on the other hand, the only problem is if you have an old firmware or version of C702..so upgrade your phone to fix some bugs! hope it helps!^^

C702 is great phone and rich feature. but but c702 is A200 generation. i have noticed at all A200 UI generation have a same problem is frezee at sometime,auto turn off. this is a reality of A200 UI. it is not look like solid A100 UI. I got mine few days back. I choose it because I was using SE T610 (I used it for 5 years and I'll label it as the most durable n reliable mobile phone on earth). C702's interface n navigating are easy (maybe because im used to SE). The menus', font n color and other GUI's are very fine to see n use. It takes sharp pictures for its kind (3.2MP with all standard digital camera function)in day and at night it takes decent images for LED kind flash. No compalain about the camera features unless we expect to take proffesional photos. It has all 3G features and GPS makes it cooler. Some review says that this phone lags. From what I found, it only lags slightly when you open main menu and media menu. This might because these two menus had some animation kind of menu popping, so obviously it requires more codes and algorithm (so no wonder it lags). The music functions and sound quality are as equal as some of Walkman series with same price of C702. But the earphone that comes in box is out of the way. I just don't know how SE can approve this ear piece for this phone or any other mobile phone. But if you could find a walkman series earphone, I bet you have both cybershot and walkman series in one unit. Finally, as a cell phone; making calls, sending messages, e-mails, browsing and etc are smooth and easy in C702. And it has such firm grip, won't fall from your hand so easy. And i think C702 doesn't suit for girls for its design n size. It looks tough and manly. I like: display (screen size and colour), GUI, the design and grip, keypad, wrist strap (it gives C702 youth feel), water splash resistant, camera, and sound. Dislike: earphone that come in-box, battery life(last only 2 days under normal usage). I give C702 8/10.

Got mine about 4days ago and I'm very happy with it, except for the battery life which is not as good as I expected. The camera and picture quality is very good, and all the rumors going around about photos coming out yellow, yes they do but only on the 'out the box' settings. If you adjust the settings for the right conditions you will get great looking photos. Use the settings and features of the camera ,people, thats what they are there for. Very awesome phone, SE ROCKS!!!!!

ok, i have just got this phone today, and am wondering a couple of things: 1. Google maps is not installed, in the manual it says it should be in location services!? do all of these come with google maps installed or not? 2. How can u get the cam and audio/firmware updates? 3. Apart from the little battery cover lock, the battery cover seems like there is barly anything holding it on, is this the same on all of them? thanks very much to anyone who gets back to me on this, if i can sort the issues then it seems like it will be a very very good all rounder. :)

SE should come out with a newer version with the looks of a C902 5meg pixel camera (or better) but with the performance of a C702 (GPS and all)... perhaps we'll see what happens in the near future, since cellphones are kind of like computers- becoming fairly obsolete very quickly..

I've had this phone for about 6 months... Yes, it has problems. Who knows when SE will update the firmware. I check the area to look for new firmware more often than any setting allows for it, and still nothing. It lags terribly, but it just looks so good... Not sure if that's a reason to stick with SE, though. After my k850i felt like a piece of junk with a few buttons and this phone is lagging and the camera is horrible, I may be looking into upgrading to HTC or a Samsung. I've never had issues with Samsung, but I love SE so it's a tough call... Get another phone that has less issues if you want to stick with SE. You'll be glad you did.

in reply to the 'diving' into water thing... i've dropped mine into about 5 water sources and retrieved it within a few seconds one time i dropped it into a toilet (not using it at the time) and i retrieved it. the inside of the screen was foggy for about 12-24 hours but it cleared up and it's still working fine (even though the firmware is sluggish as hell... seriously... sluggish)

no stereo jack. it comes w/ a headset you can use in the box, but you should be using bluetooth... you can get bluetooth headsets for like $20 on avg. now.

for this one,its average.you need to change the camera settings depending on what type of picture want to take. I tried it with total darkness using Portrait Night and for me its acceptable for a cam phone. If you're not satisfied with it bur a digi cam or dslr instead..lols...

its not waterproof..its water resistant. if ever this phone got an unxpected dive on a pool of water,you have 5 secs i think to pull out of the water.

I gotmy C702 a week ago and its running smoothly,updated its firmware, changed acoustics and cam drivers and I'm rocking already like I have a walkman phone.. Pour it with water..no problem..no water inside battery compartment..thats cool. So I really dont know why there are other users have problem with this phone.I think its how you use the phone and you're really unlucky to be given a dead phone.hey,it happens to all gadgets not just SE.

the software is horrible, though i love the phone. er, rather, the firmware* it freezes up randomly while i'm on calls, sometimes 3 or more times in a 5-minute period, between 5 and 20 seconds each time. the ALARM does NOT work!!!!!!! you have to go in and save it each night before it runs for it to work... this is confirmed by plenty of people. fix this, SE! phone says no updates are available... wish there was.

Battery life makes me pretty happy. I can talk a few hours a day and still have enough battery to last all day. Remember that texting takes up a good deal of battery life, too...

C702 comes with stereo handsfree HPM-62 that SE used since K750i model until now for non-Walkman phone, and Walkman series are using 3.5mm audio jack NOT 2.5mm! (Nokia use that 2.5mm in their many model)

i've updated R3DA029 2 days ago.. my opinion, u shouldn't upgrade the software.. just stay with R3CA037 u know what? it got worse.. now everytime i play the video, the sound is good but picture seems tobe lacking.. what a surprise!! the service center said u should wait bout a month for a new software to come.. oh man... :( hope they fix this nasty bug!

yeah.. i got it for about a month.. and the screen is all covered in small marks.. it's annoying.. aspecialy when you watching a movie or pics.. although phone itself is great.. gps is workin's smoothly.. and trek buddy - on java is good for navigatin' for free [u just have to prepare all the maps by yourself].. i really recoment that phone to all interested ;-) bye now.

The 2.2 inch TFT display located on the upper front is well saturated, and photos look bright and colour on it. While it works very well indoors, it�s not the best outdoors. I had a hard time navigating the dark theme I had set.

Yes, my C702 has just started doing all those things. I always thought it was my wifes bluetooth ear piece that kept going wrong when I couldn't hear her for as you say 5-6 secs. Yes, the W850i is louder. ALSO, I'm not happy with the vibration of the C702... it's rather weak compared to most phones I've had. I've already missed a couple of calls while the C702 was in silent mode in my pants pocket. Anywho, it's still a good phone overall.

This is one SOLID phone... sturdy and exceptional build quality! Still need to get used to the keypad though, seems too small for my fingers. Camera is the best I've used on a phone, sharper than the 5mp K850i. Loud ringer (not as loud as my old W850i) and WalkMan level Media center is a joy to use. GUI has beautifully done details but does get sluggish sometimes. GPS works beautifully. Battery life is good but I'll have to test it out more for the next few weeks. Overall, one of the best phones I've owned!

If you want to review full size 3MP photos taken using the C702, just go to flickr.com and search for "C702" ... I have uploaded 50+ full-size pics and some other users have posted full sized pictures as well. Oh, one con I forgot in my review was that when zooming in on a photo just taken to check for image detail, the zoomed image becomes blurry, then gets clearer at the zoom level in about 2-3 seconds. Moving the zoom area left or right, up, or down immediately causes the picture to get blurry again and then you have to wait a few seconds for clarity. My previous SE k550i did not do this and I find it very annoying.

I have had this phone for a couple of months now. I have not had any issues with crashes, hangups, SIM errors or memory card reader problems. Overall I am happy with the phone, but it definitely has a few rough areas. I have updated to the R3CA037 firmware. Pros: -Camera photo quality is very good, especially in daylight, auto focus works well -Gets good phone reception, is plenty loud -Plays MP4 videos in iPod format -Battery life is good for general use -Screen clarity is very good -Camera shutter button improved over previous SE phones, needs less pressure -Numeric keys are a good size and have a good tactile feeling -Great T9 texting (as with all SE phones) Cons: -Interface is sluggish and slow to respond -Camera is slow to focus -No camera digital zoom except for VGA resolution -GPS doesn't work well for me in the US ... I am in the US and photos sometimes get geotaged in South America!? -GPS drains the battery quickly -Screen is easily scratched -Panorama mode creates images that are low resolution (1648 x 432) and not clear ... I don't use it and instead stitch multiple 3MP images using PC software for much better results. -LED flash as implemented is annoying to friends, wish it had zenon flash

Hi I am using an k850 and the pics it takes are very good but they are not as sharp as the c702. I know the k850 has all different settings but I rather just take a picture and not have to mess around with the settings before hand. Well thats me 2 pence worth.

I own both phones and I can advice you to definitely go for the C702. The screen on the C902 is WAYYY too dark, not to mention the size difference. The C702 earpiece is definitely louder. Also, the C902 camera is very comparable at daytime but much worse at low light coditions where the C702 twin LED is much more efficient. Also the crippled (no built-in maps) GPS of the C702 is better to have than no GPS at all. Finally, there is practically nothing to justify the 90 euros more expensive price of the C902. A Nokia N78 is a far better choice than the C902 with less money, even if it means that you'll have to put up with the cheap plastics (but no hardware problems really).

I fix a 1GB memory to phone and connected phone to computer and copy songs to memory. Then some times memory card is disconnect. Doesn`t have xenon flash...Photos are very good, the same as k800 on daylight....in the evening, k800 gives better results becouse of the flash... But, video is much, much better...320x240, mp4, 30 frames per second...including light... My opinion, worth replacing k800 with c702.

Ive recently upgraded to g700. neat little business phone, touch, average camera and few clever functions. If you goin to use the g700 4 times a day, that phone will work, but if your hands are constantly on the phone, expect all types of problems

Survived a drop in the toilet. Was fogged up for a day but after that... amazing! Dropped it into water about five times and it's survived graciously. The buttons are a little... odd... my 6 sticks a little bit but if I don't remember, I don't notice. THE CAMERA IS AWFUL... EVEN IN FULL LIGHT. It takes FOREVERRRRR to take a picture. Pros: Compact size + Good build quality from Sony Ericsson Phone. The music player is good among the pack of competitor. Personally, I find the black color edition nicer than the cyan colour, which could be more appealing to younger consumer. This phone still use the M2 memory stick - no need to fork out extra money. The Camera is effective and has face detection feature. Cons: The memu is showing its age as new offering from Samsung & Nokia, even the more dreadful Apple iPhone. The CPU is abit lag when u open music player and do sms together. The GPS may need u to pay for the internet connection, the map cannot be download from computer thern transferred to HP. Opinion: The phone looks appealing. I have just try for less than 2hrs. I still prefer SE as the battery life seems better than Nokia.

@ Snowy I purchased this phone 2 weeks ago and believe me when i say its the most disappointing gadget I have ever purchased in my life. Firstly, it has a camera that bad enough to compete with the very first camera phone that were released in 2003, picture quality is utter crap. Secondly, the GPS uses Wayfinder that nobody here in South Africa supports, Sony themselves dont even know whats happening with the GPS. Wayfinder also dont know why the navigator does'nt work but its their own software. Apart from the smallest keypad in the industry, this phones battery lock gets seized all the time which makes swopping sim cards a nightmare. Sony together with Vodacom here in SA are completely not willing to assist with the navigator problems. I purchased this phone from Vodashop at the Pavillion and trust me when I say they are the worst people to ever deal with. Advice: SAVE YOURSELF THE MISERY AND DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PIECE OF JUNK.

i,ve bought this handphone last week..at first it really hard to use it especially the keypad..but now, i'm able to use it faster than before while typing a message..i'm also confused about the function of the camera..when the shoot mode is on "normal", i can't zoom in or out..unless i choose "VGA" for size of the picture..maybe that is one of the disadvantages of this handphone..but trust me..u will satisfied with other function of this handphone..i hope so...actually, i've not finished exploring this phone but i really hope this phone will not make me regret..

I had it for a few weeks. I experienced numerous restarts, usually twice a day. It also had a very hard time finding satellites when my friend's N95 would lock on to at least 3 in less than a minute. I was also very disappointed in the keypad and the menu lag. I went to the C902, no gps but the menu speed and camera are much nicer. I can live with the smaller screen until the C905 is out. Give they keys a try before you buy it, they're very different due to the water resistant feature.

one think i like from this mobile phone is very slim, good for your mobile activity, and great text good sound when you call our friends and relative, the show must go on, the screen beautiful big size, you dont need big massive screen thats just exactly perfect for girls like me. i would do what i can to keep manage this mobile. as long as its not drop to the floor....

hello guys... i just want to clarify things up.... i upgraded the firmware already by downloading in computer.... then.. after that.. it appears... the cellphone needs to be fully charge, remove the battery n sim, then put it back, after that... only cancel/back buttons appear... what should i do next? coz i dont know what it means.... thanks for help

This is great phone, I have bought it few days ago, immediately updated firmware and downloaded (well, compiled and everything) GpsMid and it is working spectacularly! Without A-GPS it needs a long time to connect to sattelites and sometines it won't connect at all, but only if you are in car/bus/house. With A-GPS turned on, it can connect almost everywhere in a matter of seconds, and it only downloads few KB. Oh, I've turned off 3G, I'm not using it, but plain GPRS is fast enough. With intense use of GPS, battery is holding well, it can be on several hours before battery drains out. I am not using camera much but it seems good, it can record really good video. 10/10!

@Berns Thanks for the information man, now can you help me fix this phone on how to make opera mini work on this phone coz opera mini is a free internet browsing search engine if you are using globe network. Im using opera mini on my k800 and it works perfectly fine and i can browse the internet for free without a cent taken from my load. I already talk to the customer service of globe network but they said to me that they dont have the exact configuration for this phone until now to comply with my request of mms and gprs. Everytime i use my opeara mini on this phone, i always encounter a pop up message saying that theres a failure to connect to the internet. Thanks in Advance.

It's all free download from SE site. Go to the site, select Philippines, and click on Support. (Upper right portion) Then specify your phone model. (Left side box) You'll see a long list of support for the phone. At the center upper box, go to Software Downloads. Install 2 programs: PC Suite and Update Services. (These 2 are also found in the CD, in case you don't want to download) The Update Service will automatically look for new firmware of your phone, and ask you if you want to update. Be sure to back up everything in the phone memory before you start. (Data on M2 card will not be affected.) Follow the procedure to the letter. I mean, if it tells you to turn off before or after connecting the USB, do it.

By the way, same as your case, my service provider refused to helped me with the access point settings. Claiming this phone is too new, and they can't help me with the settings. A very convenient excuse. (SUN Cellular, are you reading this???) Anyway, the SE website did for me what my lazy service provider refused to do.

I don't know if this could help. Have you tried configuring the internet access from SE website? I configured mine using settings sent to my phone from SE Support link. Although i haven't tried Wayfinder yet. I browsed thru Wayfinder website. And realized they don't have detailed maps of Asian countries. So i'm not planning on activating it for now, and waste the 3 months free trial. For now, i'm contented with using the GPS in conjunction with Google Map. It's surprisingly accurate.

If i may, i'd like to point out that C702 is a way better phone than K800 and K810. With due respect, K810 is a great product. It's the best in its time. But, like all things electronics, it has its days. It can't last forever. C702 seem to have everything the two Ks had. Of course, plus the new GPS and splash resistant features. But aside from the obvious new features C702 comes with countless big and small enhancements to just about every corner of the software system. The menu, the text messaging, the speed, etc. Even the way the keys and buttons works. It's gets a big boost especially in how it multi-task. Speedy and very well executed. Even the relatively slim size of a phone packed with so many goodies, is worth mentioning.

I've upgraded my phone to C702. (From K550) Basically, just for the splash resistant feature. But it came with much more features i wasn't expecting. I'm really very pleased with this product. GPS! This proves very useful, especially on my provincial tours. Coupled with built-in Google Map, it helps me track my routes thru never-been-to towns, and helps me find my way thru alternate routes. I never expect its GPS to be so accurate. I stood at the main gate of our place, and the GPS really points to the gate from the satellite photo. I move to the other side, the blinker moved accordingly, as well. Amazing! The run-away winner Text Messaging convenience of Sony Ericsson comes with even more enhancements! This really puts Nokia, even the touted N series, in the trash bin. The camera is impressive. I came from a few SE camera phones which i find really good. So no need to explain the photo quality. But this one amazes me more. The face-detection and short-cut keys are a welcome new features. The press-halfway camera button of previous SE phones were always the best for auto-focus. Now, even the center softkey can do the same press-halfway auto-focus as well! Very convenient! The short cuts, activity menu, main menus all get nice improvements. And there's so much more. It's really not easy to enumerate them all. Maybe tomorrow, i'll discover some more new enhancements. Recommended. The best camera-GPS phone i've ever seen and tried.

This phone is as same as K810i or K800i. But it has GPS function. That is the difference between this 3 phones. But I like the K810i design more because it looks more elegant and luxurious.

If you do not require maps or routing you can use gps for free with this phone (if you turn a-gps off). For maps and routing you require either internet from the phone or a third party offline solution - which are rare and just evolving.

well, in VGA mode, i think is only 3x DigZoom about pic's quality, IMO is good on the daylight situation, i suggest dont use it in the darkness, Led Flash is not useful hehe btw, did anyone here experience "break" when playing media player ? is it normal ?

Got this phone 3 months ago-ish, its a nice lil phone, i just liked it more than any other out there atm, it was a lil pricey to get, but it should last a good while its all good for everyday use, media player sometimes has lil breaks then carries on with track, and when the headphones in, sometimes you can knock them and 'disconnect' it from the phone, annoying if your out and about. the camara is ok for those quick pics when something catches ur eye, in daylight and sun is pretty good, but night pics are lil poor... in my opinion if you want awesome pictures...get a proper camara ;) this sim innactive thing is annoying, sometimes it does it randomly, then it restarts, removing key lock, then it can work its way through menus and do stuff, it called my mum without me even knowing once, so had to delete the call history to avoid it - but this hasnt ruined my life, my old phone froze much more than this so ill live with it :) not to flashy, but not too basic - give it a go :) (soz for long winded comment)

I advise you to go for a software update. My C702 used to be very faulty as well (it shut itself down several times a day, plus there were some yellowing of the pictures that I used flash on to take), but after a software update all of these problems were ironed out. You can download the Sony Ericsson software update program on the official SE website under the tab "Support."

The battery life seems good enough for me. When I use my C702 a LOT, the battery tends to last about 2 days or so. When I hardly use it at all, I think it lasts for about a week.

Hi , I got it 2 months back from starhub. Initially i likes it a lot until a week r 2 . The phone restarts itself many times in a day. I will see inactive sim for a moment and it will restart itself. Last week it get worse and even shut down itself once. Yesterday it stop working. If switched on it will again and again restart. I thought SIM is the problem and removed it . But still the same issue. Need to go to service center. Now i hate this phone. Anybody had the same experience ?

I own a k850i must like alot of users, all i can say is.. well the k850i has not lived up to its expectations. Sure its got a nice camera with xenon. But it comes down to the functionality of the phone and whether the phone is supported by a good battery otherwise you just get frustrated once haven taken photos and txt and ringing your mates to find out that you have like 30% battery left. I believe these days.. its better to have least features on a phone.. but specialised in few functions. That way.. your battery will not eat your useability. using the k850i i have found out.. if i just read a txt or write a txt i lose about 2 - 3% battery life. Hence why i am looking towards a new phone, and the c702 has attracted myself. I believe its better to have a non touchscreen , which this phone has. A touchscreen gets a bit annoying after a while when the screen just does not register if you touch it for the options "yes or no" yes or back. or options. I would really like a SE phone that has a good battery like.. much like the old days of the black and white screens.. aaaaah yes those phones could last ages, like over a week. before charging and you would be using it everyday. can anyone tell me about the battery life of the c702 who also has owned a k850i.? the k850i is a great phone. if you need a 5mp camera. and like a touch screen phone.

The zoom only work in VGA setting resolution or Video mode. Not as smooth as K750. Piece...

The camera is a lot better than K800/810, but its too Yellowis when flash on. Video has QVGA resolution but not smooth, its very slow capture, K850 is better on video with same resolution.

Another bug in the new Software update and I think it's the worst one, it doesn't sound when there's incoming calls and the "Media" or any sound file doesn't work at all, I first thought it's a bug only if the Vibrating Alert section is on "On if in Silent", but when I turned it "On" it still happens and it doesn't vibrate as well when there's incoming calls (but it works if I turn the phone off and on, but after a while the bug happens again). It's very annoying since I see some missed calls when the phone is always in my pocket, the software update is not even making the phone work as a phone at least, it made the Java programs work quicker (I think), no Bluring when taking videos, "Notes" that are selected as "Show in standby" stays on the standby screen even if you view or edit the Note, not like the previous software.

Hi, Just got it and yet another big disappointment. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like SE discontinuing the sleep mode clock feature which is the most useful one for me. Bought T650 recently and had to get rid of it because it lacked the sleep mode clock, now the same story with C702. Do you think SE officially removed it from all new models? I already bought this phone and it's good, especially if you are looking for a day-to-day phone. Note that in certain countries you may get an M2 memory card in the package and in others you don't. Speakers are very nice (louder than LG Viewty's and most of the other SE phones, I tested their speakers). On a side note if anyone are looking for themes to customize the C702, K800 themes and flash-based themes work on this phone.

But when I want only part of the picture, the quality won't improve just because I zoom it on the PC. Zooming on the phone was doing a good job for me on the K750i so why has it been left out on the C702i? Hope they do another firmware update fixing the zooming and the blurring also for pictures under low-light-conditions. Some j2me stability improvements would be welcome as well. Zooming when taking movies should work with the volume buttons on the side.

the thing is that zoom is not required in taking pics as it only ruins the quality of the image, as it is digital zoom, you can do it later in the picture editor or your pc. can someone tell me ,the real problem for me is if it cant zoom while making a movie.Can it zoom?can some one please answer my query.thanks

I own this phone, latest firmware. it is very buggy. freezes (a lot, often many times in a day), soft resets itself (which takes a long time) its useless as a utility phone (amera and gps) because its often not ready for action when you need it as it is in the middle of one of its countless self initiated 'resets'. the camera is slow and poor wuality when it actually works, and the delay when you take a pic is so long the target often moves before its taken. AVOID!

Guys, there's one disadvantage till now that I've realised after updating to the latest software, you can't add the Recorded sounds in the the Media (Playlist) section. I use this option cause you can then pause what you recorded or go front and back. That's a downgrade, not an update.

Thanks for letting us know that there was a new update software recently, and as you said the blur thing while recording video is gone for good, but silly me I risked the PC suite backup by backing up again on a previous backup, so what I changed in a Note that I already had wasn't backed up, as it synchronizes and updates new Notes but doesn't replace Notes that are already in your mobile to the Notes that is backed up before. NOTE: Delete any old backups if you wanted to backup for updating softwares (How do you do it?) I don't know. And know, that any Java program that are saved to the Memory Card (and the mobile ofcourse) will be deleted as well.
