My sony ericsson hazel gets blocked often when I start calling someone or when they are calling me, is it a software problem? Also it is not turning on. Some times i must remove the battery because there's no other way to turn it off after it gets blocked, and, when I put the battery back again it doesn't turn on, I have to put it on and off hundred of times in order to find a lucky position so it can turn on. It's getting me mad, I send the phone to the specified person for phone problems but he didn't know how to fix it. Help please!

I am being the most loyal customer of sony, but this phone has really disappointed me. all of a sudden one day i couldn't hear the voice while calling i changed the strip gave in service centre everything happened but still my phone couldn't get repaired..i still have my old walkman phone working in good condition & seems better than hazel.. i would highly not recommend this to anyone.

After using it almost for 2 years i can say: - The coverage is poor. I mean that it easily looses the signal. GSM is more stable then 3G - WiFi sometimes crashes for good. Needs an extra reboot - Some pre installed apps are impossible to delete + Quality of the materials is really good. It's hard to break this phone :) + Sliding works like a charm. No additional problems with this + Fast battery charging + Good back-camera + No problem with video calls aka videoconferencing ! + Not to big! Fits every pocket

better for you to buy hi-end phone if you complain too much. Hazel is cheap phone and do not expect TOO much out of it. It is JAVA phone not an Android. You are complaining too much. You have to conduct a review on internet before buying it than wasting your time here. Have been using the phone. Overall it's good. The following problems exist: 1- Power consumption issue. You need to charge it every day. 2- Poor sound quality. Don't think FOR A SECOND that this phone would work like a Walkman. Very low Bass on the speaker, the headphones and over Bluetooth, and can't control volume when connected to Bluetooth speakers. 3- Somewhat laggy. Isn't as snappy as my old W700. You'd have to wait for it to exit Opera Mini and return to the standby screen for example. The following are positive points: 1- GREAT display. The sunlight legibility, contrast and colors are so good that the display wipes the floor with every mid-range Samsung phone (Like the Wave series, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Gio, etc.) 2- Attention to detail in the OS. Very user-friendly. 3- Very good specs for a feature phone. Has WiFi, A-GPS, Accelerometer, plus front-facing camera. Don't listen to those complaining about the rest. Those are very unlikely problems and I haven't encountered them.

Hazel use fast port connector (comb type) for audio.. that kind of headset model is already extinct. the option left is u can buy sony ericson fast port adapter to 3.5 mm jack. then u can try to buy great headphone with 3.5 mm jack.. i'm sure there's lot out there

The lcd has broken and you have to buy a new lcd screen. No need to reset the phone for that. Just keep the memory card then bring the phone to service center. I had my screen replaced twice by this kind of accident and they didn't reset it.

Hey, hazel users please help me here, its very URGENT , im in deep trouble. Just some weeks b4 it fell on a wet floor n from then on its display isn't working. (I mean phone is working but its display has gone black). I just wanna change usb mode on my hazel from 'file transfer' to ' phone mode' before i make it to service center and they say they would send it to company for its repairing. And i know they would definitely reset its software, thus all my messages (drafts) would be deleted. i have written songs in my drafts n i don't want them deleted. Before this i used to copy them to a notepad using PC COMPANION app (as hazel can read .txt files), but it need my phone in 'phone mode'. For now what i know is that, I've to press MENU > # (settings) > 5 (connectivity) > (now here i need help 2 change usb mode).... Try going to menu>settings>connectivity>message settings>mms and select your operator's mms setting(if not there ,call the customer care and ask to send the settings). For wifi try master reset(after making sure nothing important is in phone memory like contacts)and try to connect and browse. I have connected with my hazel to an open wifi hotspot and have browsed. Make sure the wifi hotspot u are trying to connect is not hidden or have a username or password, then u should make necessary changes in wifi settings. Last try giving it back to se repair centre,they will repair your handset if it has any hardware or software problem .....by manuel :)

Well once you hv chance to compare cedar and hazel side by side I guess you'll also agree about signal reception quality is the main problem on hazel. It is also a bit slower if I may guess, since it has more feature such as in built aGPS, more advanced camera and accelerometer that cedar doesn't. Elses are just the same. The screen although is 16M color, according to its default capability file it shows only 262k at a time.

Sound quality is very good, it is the volume that is low on the loudspeaker, not on the earphone or headset. volume/loudness is not the sound quality. sound quality is the clarity and details of music when played volume is the loudness of the music. see the difference? read the review gsmarena praised hazel for its sound quality, not the volume. not unless you are one of those persons who think louder is better, you're gonna need a good pair of headphones to realize how good hazel is at defining music when compared to most of the other phones, heck even the most expensive ones don't produce a clean output as clean as Elm/Hazel does.

It was debatable whether updating would improve the reception or not, SE only said that updates were given to improve performance, to fix some bugs. While I think signal problm was a failure by design, if an update could improved it, it might be improved only a little. I hv not updated mine, still with the oldest s/w, apart from the signal problem, I could say that mine had been working perfectly for more than 18 mnths, a bit slow but never seen it freezing or self restarting, until I dropped it and had to replace the lcd scr, and since it sometimes restarts by itself, but overall it's still fine. I use other phones also hence signal strength isn't really a problem to me, at home it receives good signal. Btw are you the same Rohit who owns the SE Cedar ?

well now that you mention including calls, depends how long your calls are. The battery will probably last around 8 hours. LED flash is yellowish which ruins the photos and hazel is not good in taking lowlight photos, but in daylight it's very good, just like in the reviews. As for the durability of the slider I cannot guarantee how long it will last, but mine is still fine, been using hazel for almost 2 years but on moderate use only. If you're bothered by the slide then there's sonyericsson Elm as the cheaper alternative which does not have a slider and it's flash is fine. only disadvantage of Elm is it has a dimmer and a little bit smaller screen and no front camera. Everything else is the same with Hazel from battery to sound quality and features.

if you text a lot, battery would last around 1.5 - 2 days depends how much you text but it'll most probably last more than a day on heavy texting on a full charge. keypad is fine, not the best but not bad for daily texting screen is nice, it's one of the good things in Hazel. The only really bad thing in Hazel is the LED flash.

@ rohit hazel slider depends if you're rough on sliding it or not, ive been using mine for 2 years now, no problems with the slider. but a user told me his slider went bad after about a year and a half. looks like it depends on how you use it. @ well wisher it must be the type of headset you are using, music on hazel with a pair of decent headset is very good. I usually listen to volume 5 bars from maximum and get plenty of sound. BTW I use Audio Technica SJ33 as headphones, just use an adapter so you can plug standard 3.5mm headphones on it.

I've been using this phone for about one year and I'm very much satisfied with this phone. The camera options are similar to that of a digi cam. Still image capturing is good in day light but poor during the night. still, if you set the camera settings right you can get some not bad pictures using this phone. The LED flash light is better when you use it as an emergency light ;) video capturing during day light is awesome. Speaker volume is a bit low but quality is good. Headphones provided is not that good for music lovers but the output is great when substituted with better headphones. I've never experienced any hanging problem. Youtube application is exemplary except the fact that you can't save it ! streamed many videos without any pauses using gprs(bsnl). and yeah, depends upon the speed provided by your service provider. While traversing through the menu and options, the phone responds pretty fast to almost all your key depressions. Now I'm using an 8GB card in my phone and there is no considerable difference in the speed with which the phone operates while it was loaded with a 2GB card. The task manager allows you to minimize the applications that you are currently using and supports multi tasking with ease. The phone's internet browser is fast but it get closed while trying to use the task manager. But if you use other browsers like uc, opera mini etc, the problem will be solved. Many java applications and games are available on internet which are compatible with this phone. Normal usage of the phone will give you 2 to 4 days of back up. Camera, youtube and calling drains the battery a bit more than expected. The music playback time is good and more with the headphones than through the speakers.

even W580 has a lot better camera even if it's 2mp and without these features and this phone have 5mp camera, fotos are not so sharp but filming is grea VGA 640x480 pixles + 30fps but it's so numb and night mod is only 7fps contrast sucks it only takes it from that point in the center while whole other points r too dark too or too bright that blends, and music has no effect, sensation it's so numb and not enough bass but only a QUALITY yeah i better go for w810 for playing music, using internet on apps is OK but if use web browser even if u go to music player choose another song it's closes the browser and u have to start all over again and problem is apps are not supported Wi-Fi they go straight to gsm, edge, 2g or 3g net and then discover a high mobile bill , it doesn't have 3mm jack and package doesn't include any cable for it too but it includes special headphones ... which you wanna throw away cus they suck , and themes it sets only 4.9 ones and media skinner supports only 4.6 and 4.7 themes < this is really bad, flash lite 3.0 flash menus?>forget it they are not working as they should, navigation keys hurts fingers and middle key is wierd too but other keys are OK,if you got any more question just ask i'm using this phone from 2011 summer and still using it more 3 years i just have to

I bought this phone a few months back n im really really disappointed.. I was a big Sony Ericsson fan n used to convince my friends to buy Sony Ericsson phones before buying this phone.. The reason being, I owned a SE W580i earlier which was fast and the 2mp camera without a flash, produced great images, the music was good too.. But now I have started hating Sony Ericsson.. Hazel-J20i is not at all a good phone.. its a waste of money.. the 5 mp camera produces good pics only during the day.. in the night its totally useless as the flash it has doesn do the job.. the flash acts like a focus torch n the subject in the picture is blurred spoiling the entire image.. the speakers are equally bad.. therefore the music when played in loudspeaker mode is not audible from a few meters and the clarity is also not good.. the clarity is gud only wen u hear the music thru a good earphone.. but unfortunately the earphones that come wit this model is a Sony Ericsson basic earphone which does not even fit into ur ears properly and keeps falling down.. wen u pay so much for this phone, Sony Ericsson doesnt even provide a good earphone.. the phone does not have a 3.5mm jack either so that u can use a good normal earphone.. on top of all this the phone is too slow, which makes user experience of this phone very bad.. Sony Ericsson is not changing its hardware n software according to the new expectations of the consumers in the market� other companies lik samsung, nokia provide a full touch screen phone wit better music , 3.5 mm jack, good earphones and new user interface, etc for a much lesser price.. why is Sony Ericsson stil stickin to its old big port for charging n earphones.. all this will prove costly for Sony Ericsson.. for a price of 12k in India the phone is not at al worth the money.

Hey guys to be honest ive got this phone for about 1 year, i still have no problem i dont know its because im a soft user of cell phones.. but this is the firs phone i bought new(first hand) i love this phone..5mp camera really awesome and wi-fi tooo.. guys for a battery advice for this phone > charge the phone for 1 hour even after the phone is 100% charged,this gives me a 4 days battery back up by normal use...camera and 3g consumes more battery back up even though with above prescriptions.. it lacks in sound. whereas the external speakers are average and the handset attached with it is really worse..but i got a sony ericsson walkman earphone which can be in electronics retail shops, and a 3.5mm headjack connector from my friend who is an ex-sony ericsson user.. well final words trust me its a good phone and u can go for it if u wish.......

Well my frend has it and lets me use it in school and the thing is i ALLWAIS press the BACK bttn instead of the RIGHT directional .. It bugs me .. Its kinda for old people the key pad and all . The eAr phones that you get with it are pure failure and the worst thing of all is when you watch A video and turning it louder or quieter it covers the whole damn screen that little window with stats for volume .. That pisses me off and it doesnt have photo & video dj ghm LOOSEERR... x))) anyway no offense to anyone those were only the bad points i encountered .. Heh its not even mine thnx god aw she would be mad if she would reed this x)))) peace to yall

I've been using this phone for 9 months...I never had a problem with it. But at 9months using this phone i've got a problem on it. i own a K750i +HPM 70 (awsome combination )for past FIVE yrs. recently bought Hazel, dissapointed with its audio output quality in head phones especially the BASS. even using the HPM 77, i doubt wether mine is such pathetic, the media player doesn't indicate the eqauliser indication in corner is it default ?? Hazel is way better than c5 5mp in camera and picture quality due to Hazel having autofocus. but against the k800i the k800i will win on lowlight photos due to it having xenon flash. Hazel will win on daylight photos and video recording capabilities.

Speaker Volume for music is not very high. Its just so-so. As far as the quality is concerned, definitely its a sony music (i.e. excellent bass & Treble reflexes) You'll require external speakers for partying with this fone :)

my expirience with hazel has been tremendous!! its been a year since i bought this phone, n i haven't faced any problem with it till date!! hazel is the best fone available with hell loadz of features! the camera quality is excellent, it surpasses many of the digi-cams at times. it has wonderful features...3G, wifi, even 2G is very fast. battery backup is good, sound and video quality is amazing. i could not have asked for more while spending 10,000 buks when i bought it! it is very light weight, the keys are smooth too.

Hi, regarding the keypad yes it is soft enough to press and the feedback is good. It is made of plastic. But if you have really big fingers you might have some difficulties texting. best if you can try a test unit in shops and see for yourself if you find the keypad comfortable.

the flex cable is the wire that connects the display from the phone's circuitboard. you said it was already replaced and the problem is still happening so it might not be just the flex cable that's damaged. Is it still under warranty? If it is I suggest you demand to them that they replace your phone with a new one, your unit seems defective. I have been using Hazel for more than a year now and everything's still fine, never had a problem with it.

Well, u need 2 download the 3rd-party app in order 2 b able 2 view pdf & word file on the phone. I downloaded DocViewer & MobilePdf, both of them work well on the phone. The thing is, u can't use the MobilePdf 2 view a pdf file that is more than (if I'm not mistaken) 2MB.

Minus for this phone compared to c510 would be: no lens cover bad led flash (yellowish, don't know about the newer models though) poor lowlight pictures low loudspeaker volume advantage over c510 will be: faster UI excellent daylight pictures (very sharp and detailed) great video recording WiFi connectivity excellent display great audio quality (you'll need decent headphones to fully appreciate Hazel's audio quality, don't use the supplied earphones =P) everything else GSMArena's review should be sufficient enough info if you're deciding to get Hazel :)

I can confirm that this phone supports Nimbuzz as I just downloaded one on my Hazel a couple days ago. If u can't find Hazel on the list, u can choose another SE phone which has the same resolution as Hazel (240x320) & if possible the same screen, too (2.6 inches), e.g. SE W995. It works for me, hope it helps.

i purchased hazel just 4 or 5 days ago and it superrrr. its so cute that just one look of its demo was enough 2 catch ma heart. processing is fast. about its camera quality its excellent and unexpectedly it audio quality is also good, although it has low volume but has gr8 audio quality. bundled headphones r worst so one must use any walkman series headphones to get gr8 audio quality. messages r stored in mem card, so no worries about message memory. its internet support rocks, its much faster than i anticipated, google maps works fine but one thing it lacks is waiting (i dunno what exactly it is called) but here's d problem ___- when i open a website which shows 'downloading will automatically start after 10 or 15 seconds' but it never starts in ma hazel, but in ma e71 it always starts. Does it need any extra application 2 get started? i wonder bout it. And when it comes to d signal strength of hazel, its just ok 4 me. i didn't mean a very weak signal strength nor i mean good, but its not good even after d update. putting these 2 drawbacks aside, everything just awesome. video recording isn't hd but still its very good. battery backup is superb. And also one thing 2 note here is it can also read txt files (however txt files can't b edited by hazel) . multitasking is easy with d same activity menu as previous Sony phones. overall its a good value for money. i will recommend any1 2 go 4 it.

Camera performance in indoor conditions gives poor picture quality, sometimes lines on face, reddish face. I think the camera does not give same picture quality all the time. Video calling, has poor front camera, low speaker sound ,to use this as speaker phone is useless. Call quality in earpiece is clear. Playing of videos on phone speaker sound very very low.Music quality is very ordinary no base no thump, flat music. Price quality ratio is very bad. Quality of sony phones is going down by each model. gone are the days of the legends like K750i, W810 which had lower specifications but better performance.

Have u tried updating the software on ur phone? I used to have that signal reception problem on my Hazel. It constantly showed 2-3 bars only (it even said 'no network coverage' sometimes!) while other phones received full signal. After I updated my phone to the latest software, the signal reception improved. And it's getting better time after time. Be sure to back all data on ur phone up b4 updating, tho.

I disagree with your statement. Hazel is better than c510 Hazel is much faster than c510, it never did hang on me and the menu is zippy. (update your phone to latest firmware) Camera quality in daylight Hazel is miles better than c510, colors sharpness and dynamic range Hazel is better. It is only in lowlight where Hazel loses. Sound quality (not loudness) again Hazel is miles ahead, it produces flawless audio output (read gsmarena's audio tests)just make sure to use a nice pair of earphones. (you probably used the crappy earphones supplied with the phone which is why you think it's bad) loudspeaker is the only weakness due to it being too quiet. Hazel has wifi, c510 has no wifi. and many more things I can say that you're wrong, youtube works fine on my handset, it never restarted.

I have both too, but uazel surely produce better image. Wifi is supportted. Appsu can get it frm get jar and moile9. No lag so far. Not even restart. Better sound quality copare to c510. Screen bigger. Mabe you should update your firmware.. ^^ i definitely vote for hazel. c510 is better than hazel. hazel lags in quality and many features from c510 (1)hazel is not cybershot so there is no photofix & photodj. (2)sound quality is poor from both earpiece & loudspeaker. (3)no remote control feature. (4)worst applications are given. (5)hardcopy of photos show horizontal lines. (6)front camera is not good (7)autorestart many times while streaming video (8)no lens cover. (9)flash light is not complete white in color & is green or slight dark in some region, so give different color to photos shot at night better to go for c905 from c510

with my SE k800i, viewing the photos seems blurry. u have to wait for few seconds before it clears up. you are right, when u zoom it out, photos appear so clear.that's how it works.Just have a bit of patience when viewing your photos.photo quality is very good though.good for uploading to your social networking sites.

i bought this yesterday . buttons are large . phone speaker is nice quality one of the best. no manual EQ just some poor presents. camera is great. instructions and manuals are in phone only. USB data cable is very short only 10cm long. performance is powerful for a "green" phone. yeah it's worth maximum 140Eur

The phone is not bad actually, the bad things are the blue and red lines in low light photos, low speaker max volume, and the last is the poor signal reception, it is up to 20dbm lower than most A1 SE phones. When my k610 and k530 have -77dbm of signal power, my hazel only gets about -85dbm to -97dbm. And gets worse when I grab it (yes, they are using the same network). 20dbm is a really great difference. I think SE know this and what I don't understand is why they just keep making phones with low signal reception? Coz I notice that most SE A2 phones have lower signal reception compared to A1 phones. So hazel is not the first one yet it is the worst to me when it comes to signal reception. But apart from those problems, this phone is good.

Probably you can't. It's a Sony Ericsson after all (I have one, but not a Hazel). It is possible on Motorola as far as I know, on my old Moto the front camera was able to do everything that the back camera can.

I've been using Hazel for a year now, when you look at the signal indicator on the phone on older firmwares it is usually at just 2 or 1 bars, reaches max 5 bars when you're in a good reception area. But I don't think it is accurate, I never had a dropped call or even a choppy signal, call quality is actually nice even on 1 bar. By the way on the latest firmware R7CA065 this signal issue has been fixed, I get constant 3-5 bars.

set the picture size to VGA then you can zoom. but why use digital zoom when it only degrades the photo quality? just use the full 5mp size and move closer to what you are taking a picture with. there are 2 types of zoom, digital zoom and optical zoom. In cameraphones there's only digital zoom which is useless, why? because it is the same picture size, all digital zoom did was to zoom in on the photo and crop that part of the photo. unlike in optical zoom which is present in most digital cameras/DSLR there are actual lenses that increase the range of the camera so there is no lost quality while you zoom.

Don't hold the phone in you palm with it's Base fully covered in your palm. As you see it's antenna is in it's Base so your hand blocks the signals and the reception falls. Instead try hold on the phone from the canter with your thumb and the middle finger. It's easy to do so and doesn't even block the signals.

I hate to sound rude but why the hell are you gonna put HD videos on a 2.6 screen with 240x320 resolution? even if it did play you won't see the difference between an HD vid and a regular 320x240 vid on a 2.6 QVGA screen. and to answer your question no it won't play, heck even a pentium 4 computer barely has just enough processing power to play 720p HD videos.

What problem on Hazel's software did someone tell you? I've been using this for precisely 1 yr + 8 days, and still, never got my phone hangs or restarting. A bit slow maybe, such as when browsing +3000 pics and photos (1- 8 megapixels) in media player. However multitasking is great, I could run in the same time 4 internet browsers (opera 4.3 and 6, uc, bolt) while playing songs with music player. In short, my only problem is signal reception! That's it.

There's no limitation for the size of a file can be downloaded by the phone, it depends on the quality of your connection you're using, wi-fi or 3g/ hsdpa, that should be stable and won't be disconnect during downloading. RAM is very small, less than 16 MB (or maybe it has virtual RAM management, I don't know), but this is not a smartphone, so don't worry about that. It can run multiple applications properly.

Domain not found means PlayNow site is not supported in your region [example if you're in India and PlayNow is not supported in this country/ region, it also means domain not found for MCC 405, 406 (MCC = mobile country code)] You might just need to edit the bookmark - change your mcc number to another region's where PlayNow is available.

Yes, it doesn't have standard usb port (mini usb to usb) like currently found in nokia or SE xperia series, it's still using the classic proprietary SE port like k750i. You have to get this old fashion cord to connect it with your pc to transfer any contents from your pc or v.versa.

like I said, it depends on which store you bought it. GSMarena's unboxing didn't have a data cable and a memory card. Same with mine. About the earphones, okay I kind of exaggerated a bit but I wasn't satisfied with it, not until I replaced it with a better one XD

I hate to say it but the only accessory you get is a crappy earphone, better to invest on quality earphones to make use of Elm/Hazel's music capabilities. The data cable and memory card depends on the store you buy it from. Also depends on region, some boxes contains the user manual printed on paper. All units have a softcopy of the user manual in the phone itself.

Noise suppression or noise cancellation: is to filter out the sound around you when you're on calling. Behind the tiny hole on the upper side next to the lanyard hole there is a dedicated noise cancellation mic that filters out the noise around you. So when the noise shield is on (shown by the blue shield icon if you select option during voice call) the other end will no longer hear the noisy around you. Note that noise shield (and clear voice) is disable if you turn the speaker on.

whoops, I meant just press the button combination: * > * < < * < * sorry about that, < means press left on the D-pad and > means press right on the D-pad. I you pressed it correctly a menu should pop up then select "service info" then "slider open count" from the secret menu you can also disable/enable USB charging, noise suppression, as well as test the hardware of Hazel.

my hazel's slider is slightly loose and when in the closed position, it stops abit too low and the whole top part is not sync with the bottom part of the phone. Only noticeable if you take a really close look to it. I guess it's a common problem with most sliders. It also happened on my old nokia x3. Unless ofcourse, if you slide it up and down very gently, you won't face these problems. As i usually tend to slide the phone quite violently.

The latest software version is R7CA065 . However we're likely get this version when upgrading via PC, not on the phone. My phone runs on this version now . Make sure to back up all ur data b4 updating , anyway .

both mobiles are gud. but hazel have some minor probs. music sounds low, cam exllent but flash porblem y because, when open camera and turn on the flash and see focus it will comes like a torch light. Other options is very well.(Charging, display quality etc.)

Hazel uses J2me how can it be slow? oh and update your firmware, even with the stock firmware Hazel is already zippy, and you've got to be kidding me go for 5800 instead? that thing runs on symbian it is much slower once the phone gets half full and heck it even freezes/crashes. Don't believe me? read the gsmarena review, "The interface is visually appealing and snappy. There�s auto rotation in the Media Center and it is generally quite responsive." the only thing their review missed was the low quality lowlight pictures Hazel produce, but that's about it, daylight photos are amazingly sharp and crisp.

Hi, you're welcome very much :) I mainly noticing the reception problem when I was on a car trip - note that in rural areas the distance between two cell towers are sometimes managed to be longer than in the city due to the population density. So when both of my Hazel and X8 (with a same provider's sim cards) are moving from cell to another, my X8 could keep showing 2-4 bar (out of 4) of signal while the other one for a couple of time gave me a red line signal (out of 5 bar) and changed the provider's name (exp: "OPERATOR") to be "Emergency calls only" or "No netw. coverage" in between. While in the city, I not much facing this problem except sometimes showing only 2-3 bar rather than 3-4 bar in X8 (in terms of X8 4 bar means very good reception) That's all I could tell you about my Hazel's reception capability... but it's also could be depend on the provider you are using though, if they have good quality of signal transmition, that might help the phone for having better signal. Hope this helps :)

I'm still facing this signal reception problem! But I dont have problem with signal reception, because I also use X8 and some other phones as my backup... hahaha.. (or am I using Hazel as my backup of my other phones? hmm...). Just diverting my number in Hazel to X8 and.. voila! Problem solved. Eh...?? Whatever, but apart from this reception problema, my old r7ba076 f/w Hazel has been my great entertaining device - awesome multimedia for music and video (I use sennheiser headsets or altec lansing 2.1 active speakers for my songs), great camera for outdoors events, helpful GPS, fast internet - about 10 sec to download 1 Mb size of picture from the net... and many other good things i've been experiencing with this phone, that's why I still not need upgrading my firmware to the latest! (dont change the winning team)

@dev have you ever even updated your firmware? lol so much hate for Hazel, don't be a troll =P latest firmware is R7CA065 menu is zippy. signal reception is improved. my navigation keys are all fine none are faded, my Hazel is almost 1 year old now, all keys working fine, no problem with the charger and headset. the only thing I agree with you is the included headphone is bad, which is easily solved by buying a pair of QUALITY earphones. Hazel is a good music player, only lacks a 3.5 jack. @dilip both elm and hazel use exactly the same camera module. both are excellent in daylight but poor in lowlight. :)

No, Hazel was Java based features phone like Nokia S40 etc. so you can't open any office documents except plain text (.txt). Better go for smartphones like Symbian S60, Windows Mobile or some Android if you want to work with your phones.. As far as I know, in my opinion camera image/video quality was very good in class..

No need to restart the phone actually, the phone will immediately recover the signal if it catches 25% strength of transmission, but if you think you want to "refresh" the network connection, just switch between gprs/3g and gprs only networks

Hazel use NetFront 3.5. No, you can't upgrade the preinstalled browser, but you can install 3rd party browser applications if you want to improve browsing experience eg Opera Mini browser, UC Web, BOLT lite browser etc. Each has its own advantages.

just bought this phone last weekend. I got the red one and it really stands out from the crowd ! I always had compliment whenever my friend saw it . One of them even plans to buy it soon :) however, I wanna let u know my review on this phone. I think SE Hazel is one of the best phone in its price range. Lots of good features at reasonable price. pros: It has 5.0 MP camera, video call camera, Wi-Fi, Youtube app, Facebook & Twitter app (the real app, not just a link like some phones out there), conversation tab (though not every country provided with this), large memory capacity, GPS, Google Maps, Wisepilot (trial), 3G/HSDPA, 16m colors, and large screen with crystal clear display. cons: (IMHO) the quality of the cam is slightly below those of other SE phones (a bit blurry), the flashlight focused at the center only and don't scatter (slightly pinkish?), the sound is clear but is not loud enough, and the worst is the signal reception :( mine is keep saying 'emergency calls only' now adn then. but I think it's quite understandable. I mean, with such quite a low price and lots of features, SE might 'compress' the quality on Hazel. design: 9 feature: 9 performance: 8

In the SE's User Manual stated that we can view our messages like conversation (threaded view) by setting the following sub-menus: Press MENU>MESSAGING>INBOX>THE CONVERSATION TAB. Only good thing was the nice red colour. Complete rubbish from day one. Always freezing and bad signal, mostly either "no access to network" or " emergency calls only". Yet my other sony ericsson phones had great signals at same time same place. Had it from "3" so left it for repair but got it back with same problems. "3" also told me there was a problem with that handset. So now "3" have replaced it for me with LG Viewty GT405, because it also has 5mp camera. They "3" did try to palm me off with 3.2mp models but if you hold your ground, you will get a result at no extra cost.

Sony Ericsson T715 has gives more value for money. Good speaker phone, powerful music output in speakers, clear bass and treble sound in HPM77 and MW600 Headset, very good slider smoother than Hazel. Email viewing can be zoomed to read emails clearly. Hazel has bigger screen but T715 has better color clarity and contrast videos and photos are a pleasure to watch. I find Green Heart edition they cut back on quality materials and use more eco friendly but we have no proof only thing we pay more money that hurts. !!!

Hey, congrats on getting a Hazel! Regarding Ur cons, first of all, U CAN delete Ur sent items, both from the copnversations view and from the "Messages>>Sent items" as well, just try it, use the "C" key to delete the messages.... As for Ur second con, the supplied earphones aren't that good, buy a good set of earphones like HPM-77 or HPM-85, etc from ebay, but make sure they are the original set. HPM-77 will cost you about Rs.500-600 from there, although the showroom piece is available for Rs.3000. The difference is nothing, both are original, but the ebay piece is cheaper as it offers no warranty and sells loose, but what the heck, its an original piece and who uses warranty for earphones anyway! Follow my tips, enjoy Ur fone and all the best!

Its an awsome fone 4m sonyerricson.i have a red one and have been using it for about 15 days.its btry backup is fine,very fast internet,u tube plays nicely.almost all software supports it.live tv runs smoothly like aaj tak and many more.video quality is fine.image quality is also fine specially in day time,but its led flash is not sufficient for fine imaging.sound quality is not so loud but it is very sweet.led flash can b use as torch.opera mini and uc browser work well.keypad is lovely.but no zoom in camera.runs more than 8 function at a time,though it runs very fast .no freezing or hanging problem like nokia s60 devices.ifound almost every side well exept mentioned above in such price range.so dont hasitate...go 4 it and be happy.its my promise.

the only thing you need to worry about this phone is the yellowish LED flash and the low quality lowlight photos, thats about it, everything from the sound quality to the keypad construction, software stability and Daylight photo and video are all excellent. another choice would be the Aino, it's better than Hazel but it is also much more expensive.

Does anyone have issues with the captured video being choppy / jerky after about 30 seconds. This happens for me in daylight conditions, and the firware version - R7CA064... Hey, everyone, I bought my Hazel on Nov 5 n have been using it continuously for more than 3 months now. It's a great phone, absolutely awesome 5 MP camera, though it works best without the flash. the face n smile detection also work well. youtube n wifi run great together, no problems at all. but the facebook app does have some trouble while logging in, though it can be solved by going to "Settings->Connectivity->Internet settings->Connect using" and then editing Ur data account (Mine was Vodafone live), go to "proxy settings" and set "Same for all servers" as "yes". this should start the facebook app on the phone. Motion sensor games are supported, just google n U will find plenty! but I found that the accelerometer of my phone was not calibrated properly, it tilted to the left even when my phone was horizontal! The interface gets a bit slow sometimes (Maybe because I have put in a 4GB card n almost completely filled it!) but it's highly usable! The music quality is very good, but I replaced the original sony ercisson hazle audio drivers with SE W995 acoustics and Arise shock Acoustics, due to which both my earphones n loudspeaker are pretty loud! I have also replaced the default phone font with the "Sony Ericsson" typeface font n it looks really cool. for instructions on how to do all this, refer to SE-NSE forums (google it!). Battery life is good as well, runs 3 days on normal usage (though it may vary slightly depending on personal usage). The screen looks amazing with great clarity n color depth and java games n apps run well on the phone. I especially love the multitasking! GPS works great in Google Maps as well as in the Tracker app, which U can use for Ur jogging or running routines. Have not tried the Wisepilot app yet, but I hear its good (though free for 30-days only, starting from the time of first usage!) If you people have any other queries, just post em here n I will do my best to answer them for U! Ciao!

No it is true, there is a firmare upgrade R7CA065, but I think it is not available as a firmware upgrade for older phones, its only the standard firmware for the new batch of Hazel phones.

Not just sennheiser headsets that can be suit to this phone, but since the sound volume isn't that loud you need to get one with higher sensitivity (SPL). For hazel my recommendation for headset spec. is: - freq response 20 - 20,000 Hz (the wider the better) - sound pressure level (SPL) +115 dB - with bass enhancement (a must have) I have Sennheiser cx 300-II Precision Black (ear-canal model) and mx 471 (ear fin). PS. Of course still need 3.5 mm jack adapter such as from SE hpm70/77 to connect

Hazel is above average than other keypad type phone..even its cant read pdf file etc.. Screen size 2.6inch & 16milion was fully satisfied..my first choice is W995, but its screen dissapointed me due the screen is tft 256k colour.. My opinion W995 camera 8mp was meaningless.. Its view blur to see.. Hazel battery quite good..i am heavy user, for call,text n using internet..Just take 1 charge per day..even battery recovery faster after charging..its dont have 3.5mm audio jack, but the matter solve by using quality earphone like hpm 70 n above..keypad soft n its slide better than my old nokia n82

The sunlight legibility is good, the screen is still clearly visible. In indoors the screen is a bit darker compared to prev. SE screens, even when it set to 100% it's darker than SE K660 at 50% brightness. But overall the screen is still okay, it is due to the ambient light sensor that adjusting the brightness in order to reduce power consumption. If you want it brighter when you're indoors, just head it under a bright lamp, the brightness will automatically increase.

Ur welcome, its always a pleasure to help out fellow buyers & users! Regarding Ur battery, I'm surprised to hear it lasts U so less with so little usage...did U try 2 replace the battery witha nother one and then check the battery life? U could take it to the sony ericsson service center and get the battery checked...or try to analyze Ur usage once again....If your screen brightness is set to full and U play videos and music a lot, apart from a few calls & a few mins of wi-fi, then that also drains the battery quickly....or if the wi-fi & bluetooth are always on, that also drains the battery very fast....Try folowing the above pointers and see if there is any improvement! All the best!

The Bluetooth present in Hazel is v2.1, which is good when compared to other phones.

Gina, try to scrutinize your HAZEL. It does have a Bluetooth! But to make all data transfers to your computer much quicker, you might consider purchasing a SE USB data cable. After that then you can forget your Bluetooth!

I bought this red metallic sexy phone. It has more features than you can think of. The music produced is better if you buy a separate SE headset (not the original included). To my disappointment, the MEGABASS is not quite punching via the new headset. Anyway, the liabilities are minute as specks of dust.

Yes, the screen is mineral glass made - perhaps better than you found on X10 (in X10's box they supplied screen protection). It works pretty well for hazel. You can put this phone wherever you like, in your pocket jeans along with your coins or your mercedes key, with your swiss victorinox etc.

Hello I want to ask Hazel users if the display is made of glass or plastic? I read somewhere that is made of glass and is scratch resistant. In either case please tell me how scratch resistant is. Thx!
