Sony Ericsson J220 - User Reviews

  • How long does it take to charge?

  • Bought second hand for only RM10 on Jun 2016 for my phone collection. A simple phone . luckly every system function. ( Look in my Bloger - RD LOVER )

  • My J220i works just fine since August 2007. It is really robust, as it fell down countless times, but is still working... Jack, J220i supports 900 MHz and 1800 MHz band and therfore works almost everywhere (except for America).

  • I have J220i. Do you know whether it works/how it works abroad (Netherlands? Does it automatically find local network or do I have to do something? I have vodafone payg. Thank you.

  • I bought my phone back in Jan 2007. it still works. I bought it for long distance calls and to use for 911. the battery is now not staying charge as long as it use to. I will soon need to buy a new cell phone. it was the best $30.00 I ever spent.

  • my 1st phone, still working until now. it was 5 years ago, however now i have cedar...

  • This is a very cheap phone, so don't expect much feature from it. I bought it used for only $10. It's OK if all you need is a basic phone (call and text message only)

  • not good no internet rubbish

  • how make internet on Sony Ericsson J220

  • wy have a one

  • How about internet service of sej220i

  • how to use gprs on this phone? i'm always get report GPRS Failed

  • nice design i like it but why no radio!! :( i need radio on J220i. i hate you SE!! i don't like J230i design

  • i don't know.

  • j220i. please does it has a data cable?what cable does it use for editing data?

  • Is this phone has light-on feature in it's body side' like z310i? I mean for incoming calls or messages

  • worst phone in memory

  • this is a rubbish phone. the singnal goes down all the time and the one you are talking to doesn't hear a damn what you are saying.

  • I think, that J220i is very good, simple phone:) It's doing his work (sending sms messages, and calling) very good:) Later I was a big fan of Siemens, but when BenQ started to modify Siemens phones... SE is just better:)

  • After one year of using, I have found the option button and the cancel button is not functioning and instead if we press to lock the key pad, * and # symbols are coming respectively for those buttons.

  • ya i have tried it ,its working ,but speed is little bit slow

  • hey ...how do u do that..please tell me de secret........

  • hey i have this same set but with camera and other facilities like MP#3, Bluetooth, MMS. Just u have to load one software to access all this facilities. But for camera u have to install opne cannon or samgsung...but not sony...sony camera will not work in this set...try it out....

  • se j220i is vey limited.cant even store more and cant rcv mms due to limited memory

  • Although Sony Ericsson J220i is a basic phone, I can recommend it. I'm 34 and I use it for talking and messaging. It has well organized menus, basically it has everything an average user might need. Lack of hi-tech stuff (camera, mp3, bt, ir, voice rec., etc) is an advantage if you ask me. The STN display is strong point of this unit, well balanced and crisp - far better than Nokia's 2310 for example. If you didnt know, you would think TFT. Some may not like the idea that you can't see anything on display in standby mode (black screen), unlike Nokia's display, but it saves energy. The battery is great. Good standby time. Keys are little hard and tricky for people with chubby fingers - they feel like PC mouse buttons. Navigation button needs a little time to master, but this solution is better than joystick. There aren't many ring tones, games, pictures, themes installed, but that's why you have GPRS. Only problem is the memory, or lack of it (only 0.5 MB), so chose well what you download. Anyway, if this doesn't bother you, hurry up and get your own J220i, before Sony Ericsson stops producing it.

  • very durable phone and user friendly for a sony phone which are harder to use. decent screen for the cheap price but meant for simple occasional calling and texting not for multimedia buffs.

  • i have this phone juste 2 weeks and i found it very good all people who see it told me to give him the phone .I like this phone very much.

  • resolution is good but its not to user friendly and has features is not cool

  • I would like to know what facias are done for the j220?

  • Can anyone tell me , Is there any data cable for this mobile ?

  • I am borrowing this phone off my nana at the moment because my other phone has broken. I am finding it very good at the moment and I reccomend it to anyone that is thinking of buying it as a first phone.

  • While the J220 might perform well with low use, anyone who talks more than ten minutes per day might want to upgrade to something a bit more...function-rich. The J220 lacks a 2.5mm headset jack and the loudspeaker is substandard. Holding the phone against your head for more than five minutes will produce a cuddly warm sensation near your ear as you embark on an expenses-paid holiday to Tumorville. Reception is poor-to-average in fringe areas, average-to-average in town. It's not all bad, though, as the Sony interface is quite elegant, and the handset is well constructed, sporting no annoying creaks or wiggles. You could do worse.

  • Very good phone. Has all the options that I need (except voice recording). The display is some on the low end but that is to be expected. It is perfect at home and still visable in the sun. The rigntones are great and you have the option to download even more as well as themes and wallpapers. The design on the phone is good even though it may feel a bit on the heavy side in the beggining. The menu is typical SE old version menu which I personally love. The letters, fonts, menu icons etc. are all written with big letters so they are easy to read. Finally the voice guality is good - better than some more expensive phones and the battery seems to lasts for ages (after 2 days of playing for 10 min, talking 15 minutes, sms-ing etc it is still more than 2/3 full).

  • I love the design, sound quality is great and very easy to use. Also like the large screen. The phone is very elegant in the all black version. Nice ringtones and the size is just right.

  • The strog points of this phone: -battery -display -loudspeaker The weakness: -quality of the signal -lack of java

  • it is a good basic handphone. ringtones are great and also the wallpapers. thankfully it has blackjack game bcoz i love that game.

  • I love this phone honestly. The shape and layout is very nice. I own a cu500 from LG as well which is my media powerhorse but this phone is great. The battery life is excellent!!! Love this phone to death

  • software usb

  • I think this phone i good.i got it some 2 weeks ago and im enjoying the fine colour display and ringing tones. Often and often i play the ringing tones to just to listen to them. It's a nice phones anywhere.

  • this phone is fine for a kids first phone

  • today i bought this phone bcause i have 2 sim cards and i dont wanna open my another phone and change cards so i take this phone and im happy, and i bought brand new just for 58 Euros in my country :}

  • It is perfect phone for it's price. I just sold my Nokia 6600 (which offered me to much options: you can really put a lot of software on symbian platform). I bought the SE 220i, because of it's simplicity. I even had more options than I thought it would have. I also bought one for my parents (and the really don't know how to handle a mobile): even they can use it!

  • I bougt this phone yesterday. It has basic functions and changable covers. The ring tones are quite loud.If you guys needed basic phone with basic functions you should buy this phone. Stand by time is 6-7 days. How I know is my friend has this phone.I recommend this phone.

  • i hate my phone bcoz i can't hav any wallpaper or new ringtones it usually got hang while plyaing games in it and all phone memory is washedoff

  • i hate my phone(it is the J220a) because i can't get new games and music ringtones and everybody sys they got more better ohones than me

  • I just got this phone free with another package and so far it is much better than expected. I'm having trouble setting up the internet though...

  • I am 10 years old and i love this phon its prepaid only 30 bucks free cingular calling the only thing i dont like about is that it charges you a dollar when you acess the system

  • does it have the "auto key lock" feature? my old siemens A57 does not have this feature and it would be very useful to me.

  • So far this is clearly the best basic cell I've ever had. Clean functional Sony styling and pocketably thin. Exceptional radio performance and excellent voice quality and volume. User interface clear and simple to use. Display fairly bright when set on max. Battery life marginal but usable for most. Not even close to specs however.

  • Already got this phone more than 3 months but now start have problem when to unlock keypad,c button already not function. Also intermittent when type sms ,line come out. Everytimes need to OFF and ON back.\ So poor quality. SE out.

  • Sometimes strange melody continuouing buzzing after answering to call.

  • i agree with Kamran...the display is more than perfect.

  • I think the display is quite perfect! I Love it. There is nothing wrong with the display, i have two phones K300i and J220i and I feel that J220i's Display is better. Brightness and Contrast ratio can be adjusted from the control pannel.

  • Good simple design, bad display - not visible on direct sun, Should be monocolor display why color this just waisting battery for nothing.

  • There is no repetative birthday alarm, this is common on my old old Siemens m35, There is no direct input tel. number but only throught scroling throught main many to the addres book. - also common on old Siemens m35. There is no clock in stand by mode- also common in old old Siemens m35. Drain of battery while you talking is too much - probably because light on screen. Light on display is too fast go off and to stand by mode or locking. There is no light on keys - in dark that is a problem because you do not known where is specialy key that turn on phone and light on keys. Short message on screen about sent and receiving sms is great instead od long information in form of sms - but that should be whit more information - this also common on old old old Siemens m35. Battery stand about 3-4 days of common usage. Old Siemens series 35 is much more funcional - but my Siemens is after years of working go away :-( New mobile phones is just modern rubish with expected working time about max 1 year - capitalism.

  • good phone my vater has it batery life with talking aprox. 15min per day is 6 days thats very good for a phone with colour display!!! and the phone costs only 71 $ in romania!!! good price!!! sonyericsson rulezzz i have been using only ericsson phones, from 2002 sonyericsson phones and i'm sattisfied 100%!!! they are the best phones, not to forget price-quality balance!!!

  • when i buy this phone i found it cool the colors, the looks very classic. but then i buy it it has good colors but no infrared. but it is a good hpone.

  • Maybe not too many people buy this phone?

  • And how is the battery life? Is that also nice to sms?

  • ya its good specialy navigation key which is changed.Memory is only 500kb as wellinfrared is not present like J200.Ringer tones are good and voice is sufficient.

  • this phone must be released..it is not for those eho want bth or irda..it jus like a second phone for personal use, or for kids. Bravo SE, I'l defenetly buy this nice cheap and resistent phone.

  • its already out in the philipinnes.... around 97 Us dollars at authorized dealers.

  • Please buy SonyEricsson j300!!! It's a very good phone, no problems at all, in my family 5 persons use this phone, 5-6 days stand by, and 12mb memory, very good for this cathegory! And it's cheap to and for another 15 $ you can geta usb cable and it works great. It's fun!!! chek out www.myj300.net cool stuff! don't know j220, but it looks good! ;-)

  • pleas dear friends do not bye the sony ericsson j300i 'j230i' j210 because these r empty sets no infra & no blue tooth what u do to capture the latest toons and videos in no cost .dear friend i have a j300i in past the memo of the set is good but no infra & b th than i bored with my set & i sell it 25% less please do not bye the j series of s e it is very poor job by sony & ericsson

  • i agree with phil :P:P:P

  • this cheap phone will be best seller SE phone ever

  • maybe sonyerison forgot to realease this phone 8 year ago~~so they just did it because they got nothing to do(bored)

  • all the people who have this phone are just wierdo do ya see the stat of it i only like dear phones

  • Actually this phone for those who does not has much money, or in simpler terms... Its for compete with the low yer end Nokia 6101(Or what ever it is), this phone is the easiest and the cheapest ou can get, its for kids that is young enough to had a phone just to show off=P And btw, if you wanna get the phone to easy messaging and easy calling...get this one=) Cheers:)

  • is this the same with J210? am i right?

  • y are we go back in history?? yjis phone should not be released

  • Tell me some thing. What's the point behind having picture call feature when the phone has just 500kb onboard memory. Thats pathetic, isnt it.

  • definatly glad SE has ditched its problem-some joysticks with these new J-series. Lets hope all the future SE releases follow suit.

  • just kick it with 500 kb user memory

  • the fm raido on the 230 is the only difference afaik. pretty lame phone.

  • A simple phone...all you need to keep in touch with your friends.

  • btw i just want to know abourt this model.wat the different j220 with j230?the feature all same.j220 got little same model with n3100,hehehe
