Amazing phone, i bought it in november 2011 and I replaced one month ago with a Motorola E2. It still works, have an amzing sound and his batery life its great. To keep it alive for long time I changed the rom lot of times and in the end I let him with LegacyXperia CM11 wich is the best on performance for it. Even better than stock roms

This used to be my phone from mid-2012 up until early 2015, before switching to the Xperia L, before recently switching to the iPhone 5S. Having spent a huge amount of time on this phone, here are some tips I could give: 1. Stay on Gingerbread - LWW works best on that OS. 2. Don't be afraid to try out different ROMs (and kernels, for that matter); there are a lot of 'em. 3. Always have Flashtool at the ready. 4. 1GHz of processor speed and 512 MB of RAM may not look so good on paper, but this phone is actually very good in terms of performance - yes, that includes gaming (especially on Gingerbread). 5. Take good care of your device. This was my very first smartphone, and it's still performing great up until today.

First: excuse my bad english. There is an app that let you move the apps to the microSD card, freeing the phone's internal memory. For better results, you ca root your phone, but it is not always neccesary. You must download the app from other source than Play Store. The following applies to Android 2.3 1. In Settings, Applications, mark Unknown sources. 2. In a Internet Browser, search "jumobile System App Remover apk" 3. Find the apk, 4. Donwload it on the microSD card, (not in the phone's internal memory). 5. Install the apk.

hey you can upgrade to 4.0.4 with sus (sony update software) it work only if your phone is NOT rooted or bootloader unlocked how ever even if u have rooted device you can still upgrade but with flashtool (manuly download roms) btw 4.0.4 support more apps BUT taking twice as much battery (even at idle mode).. i change to CMW 9 also 4.0.4 but hacked, i tired JB\KK etc but so far most of them bugged

Hi , you should install Sony Pc Companion software on your laptop or pc and then using it and connecting your mobile to the pc or your laptop , you can upgrade it's software easily ! The program tells you how to do this step by step and remember you can't upgrade your mobile android with just itself using wifi ! Good luck

This phone is great even today. 3 days ago I installed android 5.1 and it runs pretty well. No crashes, big lags. Perfect phone for anyone who wants to listen to music, play games and surf the net. One problem is the battery though. It could have been better. Sometimes I can't use phone because of low battery. But overall, I r8 it m8 9/10.

This issue is a firmware bug present in the official ICS ROM update. The only solution is downgrade to gingerbread.

You will receive a message on PC companion that data will be lost if you will continue. 8. Tick the box to confirm that you have understood that all personal data will be lost. Then click Next. The application prepares for the update and if necessary downloads required data from the web. 9. Select your phone model manually and then click Next. 10. Depending on the model selected, you are asked to perform a few steps for the update for PC Companion to be able to update the phone software. 11. Do not connect the phone yet! Note! At this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the computer. 12. Connect the USB cable to the computer, not to the phone. 13. Xperia: While pressing and holding down the Volume down key, connect the USB cable to the Xperia device, and keep holding and pressing down the Volume down key until, the update of your device has started... appears (in some cases installing drivers appear first). 14. I own this smartphone since mid 2012 and still using it. There are 2 things I would like to point out. 1) The screen's visibility under sunlight is poor even after full brightness. 2) Internal memory is just 1GB which didn't help me purchasing much app on Google play. On the bight side, it is super durable which I dropped my phone much more than I could remember. I remember I dropped it out of my car on the road, but still turned on just fine after that. The speaker is super excellent. So this is a great medium range phone for you.

I try to answer, for me GB is best smooth and very less bug I recommended use gb along with this rom if u rooted your phone: after flash that rom, use stock walkman if u want play your music to get more louder volume on speaker and headset.(Louder volume sound only working with STOCK WALKMAN. and NOT for walkman that come from that rom) ICS is laggy and lot of bugs, but there's a lot of custom rom based on ICS that has a beautiful UI and better perfomace than stock ICS. For JB, sorry never use that... I already change my phone to Xperia J. (Im still recommended using gb along with that rom I give above)

u right Im also don't wanna update this phone to Ics anymore, i stay on gingerbread and it's very smooth. but sadly when on gb i can't install sony media app (album and movies) I really like this one while on ICS. oh btw don't say your lww speaker is very loud until u try this: it's a modified gb firmware, if u flash it u will get more louder volume sound both in speaker and headphone (but I don't even now why and how.LOL) but only work on stock walkman player. u will also get new presets equalizer on u'r stock walkman player.a very good mod for gb I think. This make I love this phone even all of it's spec is very outdate now.

Was a good phone when it was released. ICS update killed it as my LWW is dreadful now. Switch it on and it takes forever to get to homescreen, it can't cope with SanDisk class 10 16gb micro sd. Doesn't always find my music, screen doesn't look very bright compared to latest generation of phones, touchscreen can become unresponsive until the phone decides to reboot itself. Music is awesome still, very loud but lacking a little stereo surround sound in headphones - due to older cpu/gpu. Advice for people is don't update to official ics from Sony. Have u check u'r phone it's root-able or not? Try tap *#*#7378423#*#* go to service info, then configuration if it says rooting status: unlocked bootloader allowed: YES then u can root u'r phone. Also u must connect u'r phone to u'r pc/Laptop in MSC mode, also thick unknown source and usb debugging when using e-root app. I try it by myself and it's working fine.

The easiest way is using e-root app (I forget where I get that app,just search on google) Install eroot app to u'r PC/Laptop Connect u'r phone in MSC mode(also thick unknown source and usb debugging) Simply click root on e-root app Wait until it's done, and if u see super user app in app drawer u'r successfuly root u'r phone Hope this help

Don't upgrade this phone to ICS coz u will face a blurry camera, lot of bugs, battery drain, and led light not working properly. My advice is just stay in GB and U will get a super smooth LWW. Don't satisfy with stock gb firmware? Try this modified gb firmware: ?t=2162275 Try it, and I'm guarantee u will be happy with u'r phone. I know I can install that music player and any other music player. But I now install this mod: I don't know how and why that mod give more louder sound both in speaker and headset but only work with stock walkman. If I use any 3rd party music player the sound is reduce. Even though I had smartphones, Im still using my se w800i... Its megabass is so powerful! It can break ur speaker ! And then use a decent headset (hpm 88 which im using) then you will Know what megabass is,, these are megabass beast (w900, w960, w810, w800, k750) Yes, they r old and hard to find dis days.. Those recent megabass for ex.w910, k850,and so on...those are the megabass v.2.0, Which is, I can say its crappy megabass,v.2.0 megabass is not that powerfull. And then they had now Clearbass , ex.w995, w902, aino and so on... I dont know why they didnt make it on their later phones (the 1rst gen.of megabass!) The older the better... Wanna know here it is: Very friendly battery, Very smooth and fast, Notification light work perfectly New equalizer but sadly still cant use manual :-( Sound goes more louder even if u not active xLoud. And many many more :-) What is the bad thing: Bcoz this used GB FW u can't use BBM app What else, looks like nothing :-) The bugs: Only in keyboard setting if u open my words option it will force close What else, so far Im using this nothing else So, what do u think are u will downgrade ur phone (for people who had upgrade their phone) and install this beautiful Modified FW, or u happy enough using stock ICS that laggy,slow,lot of bugs and nothing good in it??? Well the bad thing in my w200i walkman does not support "show album art" but u'r w205 does. Anyway I didn't use T bond Rom anymore, I now back to stock Ics and looks like I don't wanna try another rom anymore coz I see a different sound quality now. Stock Ics(and also stock gb) has more louder xLoud compare with any other rom, but stock Ics only produce noise not quality. So according to u'r w205 in my opinion lww is next gen of w205 walkman "without" any specific feature. Looks like for people who really maniac music and walkman they should try Xperia E1 that contains lots of walkman feature and the sound is more loud than our lww.

Let's hope this will compatible with SE phone especially in our lww and my w200i. Yeah xloud must be enabled from setting,and the other option you say is only work on headset like my brother sony tx all walkman option working,one thing 1 tell you there is no walkman app on custom rom that sound 100% same as original Sony made,ive test it all and still my brother tx is unbeatable..plus you can try surround sound from your lww and compare it to your brother Tx and you know,even the equalizer far beast from our lww rom...And oh about Gaming on gb yeah on gb you will see the performance insanely no lags at all,ive try gaming on other rom even temple run 2 can lags on custom rom and The minion rush also extremely lags on any other rom but not in gb.

Hey bro, looks like I found some bug in this Rom, here it is: clear phase won't work, what actually it do? I don't understand I don't feel any difference sound if I tick or untick it. If I tick xloud in walkman app, nothing happened, so I must tick it in sound setting. same problem with clear stereo and dynamic normalizer, I don't feel any difference But when I ask my brother who had Xperia tx he got same problem too, So is it a bug or only Sony technology that only "cool" in name but worst in quality??? I dont know if kernel can't be flash without rom,but i i just flash the kernel first then the rom..as i know kernel is must be flash first before flashing a rom..this is because cwm is in the kernel so the phone can boot into the recovery and from there you can flash the rom right after you flash the kernel....

flash another kernel wipe battery status.there is akernel nagwai kernel the lower version of it shows always battery 100%. if battery always at 100%;fully recharge the battery then keep out for 10-15 min and recharge again to 100%.then fullydischarge to 0%.then charge as usual. by the way xperia e1 has lower specification then lww;if u want stereo speaker stick with lww;otherwise for performace and good battery backup go for xperia m if u have lower budget.

I have used this live walkman and found Best of the Best out of many other fones in this class and price range... I installed Jelly Vanila and many other custom roms and ics stock rom over the time, but i found that all custom roms including jelly vanila r piece of crap/ useless, laggy, slow etc. After figuring out Y custom roms r not successful, i found that its a small fone with limited hardware capabilities. with current hardware only stock Gingerbread is best for this fone bcoz it suits this hardware perfectly. ics/jelly bean is heavy os, resource hungry operating system, although ics & jellybean r more better than GB but this fone is not built for more complex os like ics etc, this is made for GB only and works best in Stock GB i.e in its full potential, i tried all the custom roms u name them. Finally after destroying my lots of precious time i found only Stock Gingerbread 2.3.4 works best 4 daily use, gaming, best battery life, no laging at all, just with few precautions, do not install facebook app, any task killers or antivirus it will slowdown ur phone. final words r stock GB is best in all fields... go ahead & try custom roms, u cant stay a single day on custom rom and i bet u will return back to Stock GB on your own.

before you flash any custom rom(like jelly vanilla) you need to install supported kernel(which is mediator between software and hardware) to install kernel you should have flashtool in your system, and then download the supported kernel for required rom and flash it via flashtool(flashtool available from sony just google it) please do research on rooting before you starting experimenting on you mobile(it took me almost 7-8 months to understand) if you have flashtool follow as below: before doing so copy custom rom zip file to sd card and supported zip files(like gapps) to flash it later 1. connect mobile in fast boot mode 2. download the kernel suggested by karting sing to me just few old post below 3. flash the kernel downloaded via flashtool(this kernel has CWM) 4. disconnect the phone and restart in recovery mod(by pressing volume down button) 5. after all above step you have to factory reset/wipe catche {read full isntruction from xda} and then flash the custom rom zip file from sd card which you have already pasted

Well, I don't know exactly what do you want to update but this migh be help: 1. If you mean you want to updates android system you can use pc companion 2. If you want update the software I must say Sony still doesn't give update for their 2011 Xperia(and maybe their never was) 3. Oh now i know why my brother said sound reduce after rooting, it's actually not reduce after rooting, it's because i used xperia v walkman mod on my phone after rooting, how sad..... :( But look at the bright side the walkman function is really superb especially if you used headset because there's an option to manually set equalizer and clear bass and also there's more feature like sensme,visualizer and many more... Now this is what I call walkman phone, no smartwalkman phone :)

Boss :) Mine is 8 GB SD card. It was damn slow with that FB update. I did not even disable it but just using the factory version. Still its so smooth. The new version of FB occupies 30MB of the phone memory. And keeps running @ background all the time. Hence fone slows down. But this s a really cool phone to have.

Framaroot app doesnt work - well not on mine with locked bootloader! Rooting is only way to fix that notification light bug! Ive replaced my lww with xperia T as lww just isnt powerful enough to run latest big games smoothly - like asphalt 8! I just use lww for music now!

For a nice cheap set of headphones try senheisser CX160 - theyre very loud especially with lww. If you buy and realise headphone jack isnt gold then dont worry - theyre not fake. These are just simple headphones - no mic! For headphones with mic try the Jvc xtreme xplosives series - their inear headphones have unmatched bass in this price group - the bass really does xplode! Theyre not the prettiest headphones but they come in various colours and I would reccomend these - total bargain!

While the lww was a good phone I wouldnt pick it for everyday use now! Sony software lags on it and not everyone knows how or can even be bothered to root! The galaxy young has a good amount of ram and more internal memory, newer software but has weedy processor and adreno 200 is no match for adreno 205 in lww! You can play some great games on lww that just wont work on the galaxy! Also stereo speakers on the lww trance any other phone apart from htc one! If you go for lww you will need to root to get the best performance, if you go for galaxy young then you will get average day to day performance but wont be able to play the best android games because of its low grade graphics chip! The 700+mb ram in the galaxy is pointless! Lww better camera and video and also has front cam! Screen better too! My advice is to spend more on a newer better and bigger phone! I use xperia T now -not a 5inch monster phone but can be bought for half its new price and less now! It certainly makes gaming better and camera is awsome!

partition ur sdcars and move some apps to it and free up some internal storage.. use greenify app to Hibernate apps (don't use task killers and launchers) remove system bloatwares (unwanted system apps,that may take ram and battery always).. for all the above u need to root ur fon.. u can also change ur rom (os) and use any light good custom rom to use ur fon in full swing..:) and den u'll start enjoying ur device..:D

the ppi of xperia T is around 330..and live is only below 190..so its not wise to compare the display...put your Xperia T with a lumia 920 or galaxy s4..and again u'll see a difference..dat doesnt mean its poor.. comparing to small end devices like tipo some xperia 2011 devices its display is good..also in the case of camera Xperia T has a 12mp and live has only 5..so a direct comparison is idiotic..the video recording of live is very good in its class..I didnt mean to oppose u blindly..bt i'm just pointing out that its not wise to compare btwn T and live..

Good camera quality for still pictures! Try taking a picture of a dog when its wagging its tail - then tell me its good quality! I did love my lww but its technology is showing its age now! Speakers are still working as new and its a great 2nd phone as its so compact! Bit irritating that you need headphone adaptor for many good headphones as I always forget to bring mine! :-(

Some displays are slightly better! Ive had three lww's and main problems are low pixel density and brightness! One of my lww had far clearer display making reading small txt slightly better than other two! Try reading the text on shadowgun deadzone - its impossible!

Or you can flash the firmware yourself, for more information just put "xperia live with walkman xda" in google, xda is great source for android device. ps: the latest official firmware from sony is 4.1.B.0.587 (ICS), but with unofficial you can taste the JB

I wouldnt advise it as 520 wont support all games and apps windows has - which is very few compared to android! If windows is a must, go for lumia 920/925 or 1020. What problems are you having with your lww?

It might be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand lww than replacing the lcd! If glass is broken then make sure you get it replaced professionally as my LCD got broken when glass was replaced! Digitizer is available online but LCD is hard to find!

No walkman phones planned as all have walkman app now! I replaced my lww with xperia T! Forget about loud stereo speakers now! Xperia T is good for headphone sound and great with poweramp! Sound is almost as loud as lww with headphones but also far clearer better sound! If stereo speakers are a must then go for htc one/one mini! Also remember how thick lww is - maybe its not possible to put those speakers in a slimmer new phone! :-(

Any of you guys got asphalt 8 working smoothly yet? I tried both cracked apk and money hack apk! Got one smooth game then got very bad lag and game unstability! Except for htc boom speakers! Xperia L got a decent speaker and apart from buggy camera runs all heavy games well! Only downside is low internal memory but despite only being 1ghz dualcore its certainly a winner!

Just back up your contacts to your google account! No bluetooth probs on mine and its 20months old! Only major problem I had was dropped calls and hard to hear phone calls in busy environment! Strange really considering its a loud phone, but my xperia T and my partners xperia tipo are both louder for calls! Lww is now my travel companion, just use it for music now as enjoy gaming on new phone more! Any lags on ICS software are all down to Sony being rubbish technicians - just root and install custom rom! Some good stable roms out there now!

He root his phone with custom ics firmware and after that all are good except gaming......I am using gb on lww and can say it is best for gaming...he installed asphalt 7 and dead trigger on his rooted phone, but games run with many lags, other than my phone can run NFS most wanted, asf 7 like a charm smoothly...I can bet that no other phones can run NFS and other high graphics games than lww in this price range. Hmmm... Sony Ericsson faithful! Wait till you see xperia honami! Remember also that walkman branding is from Sony and not ericsson! I admit that my lww did run lag free after ics update at first but once I started installing my apps then the ui got dreadful lag! I counted 15seconds it took me to read my message! Felt like throwing the dumb thing at a wall - until I remembered that I wouldnt be able to get another one in uk! Seriously thinking of downgrading it now I got my XT as keep getting battery problems! Tried different builds as well but same prob continues - phone gets to 20% charge and just goes dead! Not come across the rumoured bluetooth problem though! Also walkman button is dodgy as it stopped working on first lww and takes a very firm press to work on second! Yes lww is an excellent phone but - its not as good as some of the faithful would have liked it to have been! You WILL get lag eventually if its sony software! Even xperia T lagged a bit on sonys 4.0.4 but jellybean working well! Suggest rooting lww if you can! I couldnt coz I havnt got a pc or laptop! I replaced with xperia T for jellybean, bigger screen and adreno 225 graphics! Now gaming is in another league!

it is acceptable, not so good but good for its price, better than lww because it is a dual core phone but the cortex a8 of the lww is better if we consider each single core however it has many cons: Less than 1GB of storage for apps Dull design Unimpressive performance with heavy stuff running Annoying Huawei software tweaks and the worst and the real deal breaker is 512mb of ram I do not recommend it really ( by the way I knew after reading some of the users that playing games even like beach buggy blitz is a nightmare on it, which is not even the case on the lww)

No major problems! Only real problem is ICS update which makes phone lag a little, but this can be solved with custom rom, rooting etc. Best for sound and can play some heavy hd games. Hvga screen is good but means no support for some games that require wvga screen minimum. Very compact phone and extremely good value - puts all budget phones to shame and ive been using for 18-19 months now! Best allround phone I ever had!

Ok I will try to make u understand the whole concept you are not rooted so you cant kill them successfully ..they will reappear soon All these applications fb,map etc have receiver that detect certain things such as network connectivity change or package installed,removed etc..based on that they self starts. One way to stop these is to root your phone but if you are not rooted then dont worry because..listen carefully.. If these applications are running in background and not actively used they dont affect on your battery..because they dont consume cpu...it is cpu which is responsible for power drain...cpu donot run if they are just sitting in ram.. So dont kill them..if u kill they will reappear and consume ur resource cpu battery etc so they will drain more power if they killed frequently...let them sit in background they will cost nothing.. sorry guys I was very busy with my projects and my new phone, I found you now an awesome jb 4.2.2 rom, very stable, very smooth, with everything working and totally bug free, itis called havendroid dark demon edition, this is it: ( about the updater script there is one in the zip of this rom but it is not for lww, so download the script that official sony rebel added and add it to the zip ( location where official sony rebel written) and then it'll replace the other bad updater script, otherwise the rom won't boot) and use this kernel with the rom: , follow the instructions well ( only for unlocked bl)

your xperia rooted or not ?? if your xperia already rooted you must download "usb storage" and install it to your phone . then connect your flashdrive and open the app that you download and select "mount usb storage now" and then wait . after that, it will show you a notification. don't do anything. next if you have file manager, go to sdcard > usbStorage then u will see your pendrive

you need to unlock the bl for custom kernels, for zellycream only with stock kernel no, and yeah it is smooth but with a custom kernel like lupus 5 it is even better and better ( on 1.5GHZ)

ICS better battery than gb. Rooting has many advantages. My knowledge isnt too good on how to root but there are many custom roms that are better than sonys stock. Underclocking will increase batterylife but some apps might not run as smoothly.

Lol! Depends what build you are using. My best standby time around 36hours(1 and a half days). Heavy gaming kills battery in just 3hours and continuos web browsing 5-6 hours. 3days is rubbish. 2 maybe 2and a half days possible with everything off like browsing and brightness v low.

Unlocking the bootloader is used to flash custom kernels, which can give you better performance, network strength and stability and sometimes better battery life and overcloking and undervolting, with the bootloader unlock disallowed it is impossible to overclock, after rooting get cm by xparts from the play store and try the zellycream mdpi rom ( forum,xda-developers.com) or Xnxt ( forum.xda-developers.com) they are both very rich in features with a far better performance and a lot of xperia z goodies. they also have many init.d tweaks and supercharging and network tweaks and build.prop tweaks. tell me to give you v2.5 of zellycream if there is bugs with v3 of mdpi, backup all your stuff before any flashing and follow all the instructions, you won't get as good experience as with a custom kernel like lupus 5 mdpi, though it will be far better than stock ics

you should have to download sony update service (SUS)and than follow the steps give by the (SUS).there is a bug in the previous sony ics update but in February sony releases a fix for this problem (SUS) will update your phone sony ercisson lwl with this fix and every thing will work fine

I've got a z for 570$ here on limited time sale yesterday, so I was very busy trying it, it is more than awesome. though my lww after using custom roms based on stock .587 is very good, to all users experiencing memory problems root your phone and use link2sd after you partition your sd card ( I'll prepare again a full guide about rooting and partitioning) and unlock your bootloader for custom kernels or jellybean roms ( custom kernels like lupus are awesome with up to 1.6ghz frequency without bugs with batt or performance( 1.5 ghz is the best max frequency, higher will cause issues)

Sony updates are bad. Numerous bugs. Mine has started crashing during heavy games and rebooting- which is why Im either going to root (like so many others with lww) or get a new phone. Maybe wait for xperia Z to come down in price. Ive tried disabling many apps like facebook and google maps but that nasty lag keeps happening. Cleared cache, cleared ram, tried different sd cards. Remember .587 isnt available in my region so I cant comment on how good that version is.

this should not happen at all, it may be a kernel issue, flash stock ics or gb through the flashtool with all wipes then try again with anew kernel, for ics i recommend lupus or kappa 1.4

dont unlocked the bootloader, or root, it will mess up with your apps that use 3g connection.. now, i can't use youtube app, skype, facebook, or any apps that use internet.. they only work using wifi.. 3g connection is useless. browsing with default browser works and view some flash video can do, it's just the apps that won't work. anyone have an idea how to fix this, coz it makes my phone useless.

i can update my live with walkman to ics before when my kernel was official and haven't unlocked the bootloader yet., it was on the list on sonymobile for those unit that can be upgraded..then when i replaced the kernel with customed one coz i want an overclocked cpu . it now suddenly appeard that i always used the most latest version.. mine was .48 somthing.. the oldest version i think. , you were also right that some areas are not supporting upgrades, (im from philippines)

I have had this phone for nine months and I am very satisfied. The sound of the collumns is great and the headphones too (you feel the sound going through your ears and at the same time you can hear when people are talking to you). It is very fast, the camera quality is very good and the battery lasts a day and a half, so it means it needs to be charged from two in two days. The syze is good to fit in the pocket (i use it when i go to school) and if you are running out of battery if you put the brightness to zero it lasts for the rest of day, so you can receive and make calls and then go home and charge it. I have recently updated it to android 4.o and haven't noticed any bad or good difference. It is very easy to work it, good as a phone and as a music player. I recommend it

its kernel was already replaced by custom one., and maybe it already had its bootloader unlocked and once rooted before and restored to stock and official os (gb) i have this phone and unlocked the bootloader and installed custom kernel.. phone update will show you already had the latest version but you really don't. maybe because your current kernel does not support the update for official software and kernel.. hope it will help.. i really love this phone.. :)
