I've got both the T707 and the W508 in my collection. Of those two I prefer the T707. The Menu button on the W508 feels unusable, you have to hit the menu button within millimeters in order to get it right. Whilst the T707 have much more forgiving menu button. Else it is mostly the Walkman buttons on the of the W508 that makes it a Walkman phone, the T707 isn't far behind as a mp3-player.

Is there anyway of playing my music in a shuffle mode and also just to play music of a certain genre? I can do this on my little nokia 3710 but can't seem to find anywhere to do this on the T707. All I can see is that I can add certain tracks to a playlist or just play the music one after the other in the order that they come in (i.e alphabetical order) If I could have done so I would have stuck with good ol Nokia ( I love Nokias) but sadly the only way I could have more memory card space with a flip phone was to buy a different brand. Hence me buying the T707

Why is it when there's a text and if I don't see it, it's gonna disappear. Additional of, when I sent a text, it wouldn't appear on the "Sent Messages".

It's a very stylish phone and the light effects are charming. The battery life is not outstanding, but can't really complain about it. This phone isn't really made for texting. After typing a few lines, my fingers get all cramped because the buttons are really stiff. If you're only interested in calling, I recommand you this phone, but else... don't buy it.

This phone looks pretty and stylish, but the fancy lights and external display is literally USELESS outdoors. The gesture function chooses not to work sometimes. The screen could have been bigger, there's a lot of wasted space there. I failed to download anything using this phone the browser is pathetic. The keypad is stiff and typing long texts is a pain. The end button and the cancel button are so close together that when you want to cancel e.g some text, you press the wrong button and end up at the home screen. The sunlight legibility is poor compared to other snow ericsson phones. The ring volume is so low and I hate that you cant use a normal memory card with this phone. Do not buy it!

My letter to SE as below:- Subject: Faulty Sony Ericsson T707 Case Description: Dear Sir/Madam, I bought a unit of SE T707 in 28-6-2010. Today is my fifth time sent in for repair. To my disappointment that SE has been producing "low quality" mobile phone which is totally different from last time. I been using SE several models, I bought T707 even though being told not to buy it as the salesperson commented SE is not as good as before and quality is really bad. Now, I understood why the salesperson said so. Do you feel happy if were to sent in FIVE times for repair and moreover about a week or so to collect back? Using a SE mobile phone is causing such a inconvenience, it is a quality issues, repair centre or??? Below is all the date & job number that i sent in:- 1) 17-Sep-2010 (thrown,don't think will need it) 2) 21-Mar-2011 PGW36163 3) 31-Mar-2011 PGW36481 4) 25-Apr-2011 PGW37121 5) 10-May-2011 PGW37539 I called to Malaysia SE (1800889900) an hour ago to complain about this issue, when I ask about SE head office (International) and they don't want to disclose as they are not allow to do so, it is so shameful to let end user know about it? or something fishy? I don't agreed on things that Ms Wendy has commented ( please refer to the recorded conversations ). 1. If my SE T707 has no problems, then why I need to send FIVE TIMES for repair? 2. Then why must change the motherboard AGAIN after replacement of motherboard on 25-4-2011 (PGW 37121) ? According to her this is SE's good gesture & good will.......please explain. 3. She offered to change to a new SE T707, but the warranty will be the same as my old SE T707 which is on 28-6-2011. Since going to change a Brand New SE T707, why can SE give another year of warranty? Does it mean SE also does not has confident in their own products? The funny part is she can only offer another month of warranty with replacement set, what a joke of the century. 4. SE dare not provide warranty on your so called Brand New SE T707, so hope that after 28-5-2011 then the consumer can't make any claim on it anymore, it is the way SE handle all the defective products? 5. She commented I never complain about charging problems but only software problems. Every time I sent in for charging problems, SE service centre will said that it is due to SOFTWARE ISSUE, therefore must re-install to rectify it. It works only few days, worst part is after changing motherboard charging problem happened again after 2 days of using. How can she said that I never complain about it? It is the service centre that never recorded it, and now put the blame on consumer. 6. I mentioned that I would like to talk to higher authority hopefully that we can solve this issue, and she kept on saying that she is the "HIGHEST" person that I can talk to. After I asked her whether that is she the TOP Management in MALAYSIA, then only she said that she is incharge of "customer telephone" department. Why TOP MANAGEMENT persons dare not face end users and choose to ignore or SE in MALAYSIA does not has a better or more qualified person to manage? Please look into this issue seriously and don't let SE's good reputation down into the drain as what others end users have commented. I do hope to have a favourable reply from you soon. This phone is a very bad phone. I feel so regret to choose this one. I got so frustrated in so many calls when I tried to disconnect or press some options, and the phone was hung didn't response at all. I also lost a lot of minutes when I couldn't disconnect the call as the key and the phone doesn't response. Bab bad phone..

I have this phone, and honestly DO NOT GET IT.. I have had so many problems with it its not even funny. I just got my THIRD phone sent to me today and its already messing up, it tells you that it has an inactive sim, and it deletes your contacts, it wont let you send messages half of the time. I deff. dont suggest getting this phone.

I have had this phone for about 9 months. The volume is really good, keys are well spaced and easy to use. The ongoing messaging convos make it easy and fun to read, also taking away the frustration of forgetting what the text said when you go to reply. Option of rotating menu is well organised and fun to use :) Pre installed games are fun and addicting. The only bad and disappointing things I found on this phone that after only a couple of months the paint on the front screen starting chipping off and after being in my pocket when it was raining lightly the paint stripped off in patches, looks unattractive now, the gesture control is a bit too sensitive, when I go to answer the phone, my hand just covers it gently and it hangs up on me. Also there was no USB cable included, which made it difficult to get songs I really want without buying them or having to bluetooth them. And you can't read the front display screen in the sun.

I love this phone and it has lots of cool stuff but i highly sugest getting spare bettery, because is you dont use the phone for a little while and when yo turn it on you have to swap battery. i think it is best. The buttons are really easy to push and it is easy to text and it sits nicly on your ear. this is a good phone for its purpous.

I love the phone but I had the same problem you had I called the Sony customer service/ technical support and they were very helpful. They help me as much as they could over the phone but I had to send my phone to them they fixed it free of charge and I had my phone back within a week.

i have beem using this phone for about 10 months now, and i am a happy customer as thinks works well for me for the past 10 months. Until yesterday, my phone was working extremely fine, after charging i brought the phone back into the room, and the next time i found out when i see my phone is a vertical line crossing the external display whenever it is being lighted up. I tried to restart my phone, but thing turns out the same. Pls someone, help me to solve my issue, i'll be grateful =(

Just returned my T707 after 3 weeks of trying to get it to function. 1. Extremely short battery life. Needs a charge after two days and "maybe" an hr of talktime. 2. Hangs up when touched. No matter how I try to handle it (hinge side with 2 fingers, sides or open end by 2 fingers, it would hang up the call. Not impressed.

Overall: It's a great phone. Pro's: - Very nice design. - Awesome light effects. - I love the subtle buzz when you're scrolling down your menu. - The battery life is ok. - The display is nicely made. - Easy menu, every function can be found easily. - The volume can go pretty loud. - Gesture control: You only need to practice a while, but it's sure worth it. - The games: Bubble Town is so addictive :D - Texting: The speech bubbles are interesting, more attractive to read messages. Contra's: - There's no USB-cable included. - The memory is rather small, you have to buy a M2 card, which is even more expensive then an usual micro SD card. Together with the USB-cable, it can cost you over 40 euro. - Texting: If you have rather small fingers, texting won't be as easy as for bigger fingers. There is a lot of space between the buttons. - The camera is ok to use, but if you want high quality pictures, this phone is not ideal. - The display is very sensitive for fingerprints. It's not really a big deal, but quite annoying if you want your phone to shine. As I've said before, the phone is quite good. If you want to impress your friends, I'd say: Go out there and buy one. :)

My wife's got this one 6 months ago, we had to send it to repairs twice when the phone went dead for no reason (on both occasions)- 1st time they updated the software, second time they replaced the main board. Now we're having issues with the pulsating light (semi circle) on the outer display wont turn off or constantly pulsates even with the gesture control off. i would not recommend this phone to anyone, unless you are happy to get extra warranty and don't mind sending the phone off for repairs often.

I've had this phone for aout 5 months now and it is crap! If i had of known it wipes the memory every now and then i wouldn't have bought it. I dont like it, and people i know who have it, are having problems with it the same problems as me. Yes this happened to me a few times now...im on holidays so i cant fix it but basically you have to reset the whole phone. Put the sonyericsson cord in to the computer and the other side into the phone. Then wait for it to download some type of software for you. Basically it tells you to follow the prompts and it resets the whole phone ,so all your informatin you have in their will probably be gone.

I really need some help! I have been using this phone for almost three months now and everything has been fine until this morning! I charged my phone last night. I grabbed my phone this morning as I was about to go out, and realized it wasn't turned on. I thought it was strange since I had it switched on when it was charging. Now it won't turn on at all!! Been using this phone for almost 3 weeks now. Very satisfied with it. The camera is ok. Of course the Cybershot series is a lot better. Speaker also very loud and clear. Battery life very good. Can lasts for 4-5 days before it need to be recharged. Downside: I wish it has wi-fi. But it's not that I really need it. Other than that, it's good.

I have this phone, the battery life sucks. It's meant to last for 400 hours standby, I have to recharge every 2nd day to stop it going dead. If i knew the battery life was this pathetic I wouldn't have bought the phone.

why not even one clamshell model never has autofocus- that is a big mistake - AUTOFOCUS MUST BE IN ALL SONYERICSSON MODELS - then SE will be no.1-- a friendly advice for SE managment - in a body of W710 put camera 3.2mpx-autofocus-xenon flash- led light -wlan - and you get the best phone in the world - and why volume key is no longer shortcut for letters when typing sms

I've been using this phone for three months now. My expectations were not really met like sound quality, camera quality, display, and internet access. For sound quality, it's not as loud as I expected (like other SE's, ex: W880). camera - not as clear as W880 (never had this phone but I saw some from my frnds) ; display..hmm..just okay, screen should've been a little bit wider for a calmshell with this size, and internet access-- I always thought it has wi-fi (because phones released recently has wi-fi), got a bit surprised whn I came browsing it and found out it doesnt have wi-fi. Howevr, this phone is stylish, (friends find it cute), light effects are cute as well, and memory capacity is really good (up to 16gb). Im thinking of buying a W880 even if it is not really a new one, beacause of the features. overall, this phone's good, but features should be a bit advnced (knowing that it's a newly released one). And, you can only use zoom when picture size (yes,size) is in VGA mode, but when you choose 1mp,2mp, or 3mp, zoom isnt available. And yes, it's not scratch-free but the surface is glossy, and the gesture control doesnt work always. (Shake control is even better). It would be better if this one has flash and a secondary camera (in front) for videocall. This one's really stylish though. :)

I agree with you, I found out that it wasn't scratch resistant and it occasionally doesn't register my sim card and the gesture control doesn't always work, or it works too well and the back of the phone is hard to get off without almost snapping it. But other then that it's a good phone, the memory is better than my last phone, which is a plus, but you cant put a normal memory card in the phone, it only allows M2 cards.

First thing, it ain't scratch resistant. I've been using this model and my whole glossy cover is scratched up real badly. Also, a bit of the pink colour is chipped off and i can see the resulting white light underneath. The speaker is quite ok. Could go really loud. However, the contact list takes a logn time to be able to access it. Same when you're trying to save a number.

I hav dis phone for 1 n a half months.. I'm at Indonesia so got the T707i with Lucid Blue colour.. I bought it 2nd hand, guarantee until Aug 2010.. So this is T707i first or 2nd shipped to Indo.. The gesture control is good if you get with it u can snooze alarm with 1 finger only.. The texting is very excellent.. But I want upgrade the software to get the facebook 4 SE n threaded SMS.. After all the 3,5G antenna receiver more strong than my old K660

I've owned the t707 for about 2 weeks now. My one has a video camera (australia) it is actually a t707a. I think it's a great phone, simple, but with many unexpected features.. Does anyone have a problem with it losing contact with the sim card? Every day at about 4pm I look at the phone and it says "INSERT USIM or press DEMO for a demonstration...." I have cleaned the sim and will see how it goes... Why the hell is the sim card so hard to get out of the phone? This is a very dissapointing design flaw.

absolutely amazing phone.....got the black one.....the pink one is way too bright...practically fluorescent...black is definitely the best colour....the only problem i have wid it is that the keys are too wide apart....msging wid one hand is a lil difficult esp if u hav small hands..... otherwise great phone...picture quality really good....so is the music....day n night changing themes....gesture control is superb....i cud jus go on....as for the external display it lasts for jus 10 secs if u hav a missed call or msg but the light keeps flickering so theres no way u'd miss anything... all in all....highly recommended by me for those who want a simple phone wid basic functions and ease of use at an affordable price....

This is one of the best phones ive ever used. Since I have the ipod touch, i dont need wifi or skype features in my phone. So all in all, this is a very basic, simple phone with an amazing camera. I've been reading through the reviews & I just wanna know a couple of things before I get my hands on one of these - this is for all T707 users/owners. - Do you still encounter phone turning off/on or hanging suddenly? They say if this happens, a software update is all that's needed (says so on the SE site itself). I was thinking that this may be an isolated problem for the first newly released batch. - How about audio? Speaker volume? I have a Motorola U9 & you never miss a phone call except in a very noisy environment. Is it the same or better for SE? My friends have SE phones & they emit great, full music/ringtones. Does it apply to this model? - I know this is silly but when you get an sms, on the external screen does it show "New Message" or the name of the contact or if unregistered, the number alone? - Can you personalize message tones as well per contact or is it just limited to the ringtone (caller ringtone)? - Is it difficult to read the external screen when outdoors or directly under sunlight? - Has any of you experienced lags or stills? Your answers will help me decide whether I should get one real soon. A lil help will be appreciated. =)

I've owned the T707 ever since it came out. The interface doesn't lag and I'm quite pleased with that. The preset themes are very eye-catching as well. The light effect is amazing. The reception of this phone is very strong too. This is a good phone for people who want a simple phone that is easy to use.

hi...to get rid of automatic answer all you have to do is go to settings ..go to calls ...and look for open to answer or close to end call....select your preference accordingly....if u dnt wana answr the call on opening select OPEN TO ANSWER-OFF... ;) :)

I'm a devout fan of Sony Ericsson phones, and now that I'm back in a region where I can have something other than a local rural carrier w/ limited phone options, I bought the T707. First, the light features simply don't really work, either on the keypad or externally, and that's one of the big selling points about the phone. But if you call Sony Ericsson tech support, as I did, to ask about how to adjust the light effects, they'll be the first to say that they are dim, even at night, and not meant to "really light up the keypad" or the external display. When the phone rings, it's nearly impossible to see the light effect you assigned for a contact, so that feature is useless. And having the keypad not light up is _really_ an annoyance, especially because my eyesight is crap and need that; but most phones have that now, so it's pretty bizarre that the keypad doesn't light up. Other features, like the camera, are simlarly disappointing. While the photo fix option seems like a cool feature, it fails to fix the fuzziness that occurs with every photo you take, regardless of the conditions. All in all, a massive dissapointment. This phone is being returned, and I'm buying something else--perhaps an LG. Sad, because I do like SE phones, but obviously something has gone very awry here with this phone.

hanna! T707 doesn't has LED flash on the camera. Jill! I think the pink light effect (not the keypad color light. The keypad color light can't be changed) can be changed. Like in Z310i, the light effect can be changed. In Z310i, the light effect is available in Settings>Sounds & alerts>Light Effect. I don't know it T707. So, try to find it in the Settings menu.

In my opinion, Sony Ericsson T707's design is good, slim like W508 or Motorola RAZR V3 or RAZR V3i. It is said, the keypad surface is made in black and the flat circle keypad is made in hard plastic and its body material made in chrome metal (Wow! Looks good! :)) Its feature is good too with reasonable price. But, I still prefer Z610i. There are some features that I don't want in T707. I don't want radio, 3MP camera, geo-tagging (cell ID) and Google Maps. While in Z610i, it has no radio, 2MP only, no Google Maps.

My mum just bought this clamshell for me last Saturday. I can say I do like this phone, it's elegant, comforting my hands; however I'm bit disappointed that the zoom system is only available in VGA mode. Furthermore, as stated in user guide in the phone, 'video call camera may not be available in every market'. That means some country may sell one with video call camera.

I've had this phone for about a week now. I'm very impressed with the design. It's very sleek and "cute" I got mine in pink. I'm happy with the camera, the pictures are very clear. I like the menu style, there are a few to choose from for you own preference. Besides the design, it's just a regular phone to me. With simple features. I don't know if it's just my phone (still waiting for EBAY seller to contact me...) but I dont have the "conversation view or threadview" in my Inbox Text Messages. I'm a huge texter, the although the keypad does not look plastic, it's kind of flat and spread out. Spread out is usually good, but it's really hard when it's flat also because my thumb/hand gets so tired after texting. I also don't like the fact that you can't adjust the text sizes. I went from a Nokia 7373 to this and the letters and words on the screen just looks huge... I got use to it though. The battery life has been decent so far. I was on it for about 4-5 hours last night and it didn't even reach its halfway point. I have a small scratch on it so I dont think it's really scratch resistant, and I put mine in the case all the time. What I also don't like is that there are no "call time/call duration" history. maybe this phone is defected but when I look in my call history, all i can see are the contacts that i've talked to.. but no timer. If someone knows how to fix these little glitches that'd be great. If not then it's ok I've tried too.

Just bought mine this afternoon, and it's sleek. The glowing lights on the cover is pretty impressive. despite the monochrome display in the middle of the ring. For those who are worrying about the keypad, it's certainly better than W508's keypad. z707's soft keys made typing an ease. My thumb went tired after trying w508's input for less than a minute. However, I'm pretty upset with the camera, doesn't look like a 3.15MP cam with image quality almost the same with my old w700i. The only good thing is, this phone processes image faster, that's all. I'm giving this phone a 8 out of 10.

when someone calls you, and you want to mute the call, or if you want to snooze your alarm, just wave your hand over the camera and that's the gesture control... it's kind of difficult to use though you have to move your hand the right way.

Hi Allie, In Singapore, the release date is exprected to be June 2009. As for the definition of Q1, Q2.... There are a total of 4 quarters in a year. Q1 refers to Jan-March, Q2 April to June and so on... Hope this helps :)

I have just got s/e w980 at carfone for 130 quid and it great, Yes to below about megapixels and touchscreen been the norm i have been like that for yrs keeping up with latest trends and giving it a rest for a while..The w980 is doing pretty much all i need and cam is fine for a sbnap and video is better than k850

Come on they are finally releasing some kind of normal phone again. Why does it all have to be smartphones or phones with high resolution cameras? There are children that are like 8 or something that want phones also. You're not going to give them something like a Xperia don't ya? They would need something like this. Or people from like 40/50 that want a phone that ain't to difficult. Well I think it's smart from sony to bring out something like this :)

Still no auto focus,,for crying out loud they got it in w610i so they can get decent 2mp camera in a clamshell,,i bet they are using the 3.2mp unit from w890i wich is tripe...I am a big clamshell fan and so dissappointed..
