I bought this W600i when it first came out. There was a glitch when it swivelled open and it would shut off. I sent it in for repair within two weeks of having the phone. I still have this phone! It was my main phone until last September when I decided to hand the phone down to my son. We changed the stock battery this month and it is working great considering how old it is. I was really satisfied with this phone because of the ability to get on the internet with WAP browsing, which means that I could go on the internet any time I wanted, as long as I had cell phone service. I dislike that smart phones are not being made with WAP browsers. Does anyone know how to add WAP programing to a smart phone?

Had this phone from may 2006; its truly awesome. it has one of the best sound quality on a phone. I am using a milestone which is pretty clear, however in most cases the w600 sounds quality will be most impressive. Which mine could look as new as when i bought it

I agree, this is a very good phone! I also use this as my backup phone. The reception and battery life is excellent! Don't let the "loose screw" thing prevent you from getting this phone. Just don't constantly swivel it left/right, treat with CARE and it WILL last. Owned for 5 years, never fell apart.

This mobile is very hard to find nowadays, but i was very... very lucky to find it after months of search and i bought it yesterday (it was the only second hand w600 available and you cant find any "new in box" right now) and its simply awesome!!! - Great & powerful stereo sound very clear, you were right guys, this model its the best of all walkman series! I dont care if it doesnt have external memory, wi-fi, GPS:) I fell very lucky to have one. Thanks!

I had this phone for about a year and i loved it. its had flash a awsome camera easy layout because it was sony ericsson pretty good memory space and lots more. BUT mine ended up falling apart in the middle to where I had to put a rubber band around it so it would not be held together by just wires. If i could have that phone back i would and so far i have had a Iphone, Krazor, Rizor and about ten other ones and the W600i is still my favorite.

I have this until 2 years and work perfect. The sound of this baby is amazing most powerfull than the newest phones. the desing is fabulous original is simply excellent But this phone have 3 errors first sometimes it blocks when you connect it to the pc and haven't external memory the other one is both stereo speakers drain a lot of battery

I've had this phone for over 2 years. Despite the abuse it receives, its still working great. Its very functional - no major annoyances. In fact its nicer than most cheap(er) phones because you can actually hook it up to your computer and transfer wallpapers and ringtones to your phone, or transfer pictures and videos that you took to your computer.

u need the cable to hook it up the the pc and drag files to the drive it now occupies. its easier with the software download it from the s/c website and your on. hope it helps

if you can attach it to the computer via cable you can. it doesn't use memory cards so it can't hold alot of songs. try using mp3 format

Maybe oldly refurbished. Whatever to me it is a brand new piece of goodness! the person who previously wrote this lied!!!!!!!!

I've had this phone for almost 2 years. Soon, I'm thinking about changing my phone. I'm going to miss this phone very much! Not a lot of people have this phone, so whenever someone sees my phone, they're amazed by the unique design. I really like the design. I absolutly LOVE how the phone always has room for new songs and pictures. No matter how much I put in, the memory never gets full. The only bad part is that I've always wanted a thin phone and compared to recent thin phones, this one's pretty thick. But I've gotten used to that. & Actually, some people like the fact that my phone's thick because it's pretty cute. Also, whenever I put in new songs and pictures from the computer, and take out the USB port, the phone freezes. Because this phone's so unique, people usually don't know how to work it. I love how they can't use my phone(; I've dropped this phone many times and even dropped it in the toilet, but there's nothing wrong with it. Once, I don't know how, but I broke the charger, and now I have to live with the traveling charger. I have to keep charging the phone since it runs out of battery quickly- I usually charge it twice a day. But I think that's my fault. Other than that, it's a good phone!

Hi i had this phone for about 2yrs. and all i gotta say is that i lost this phone the first time, and i just had to have it again!!! great phone!!! Best features: mp3, good good sound, bass and stuff. also the camera its only a 1.3 but compared to the samsungs with 2mg and the sony 850i with a 2mp its still better, its has flash and the vedio last for ever. i have a vedio thats 24mins. long and the only reason why it stop was becuse i was getting tired of holding it. even with the vedio i still have plenty of room to add more music and pics. love this phone. Bads: only format for music is MP3 which is not that bad.Also when connect to sync it, the screen goes crazy for a sec. then returns to normal. if your thinking about this phone i say go for it. the best part is that it is very unique, in its orange face plates. every that sees it loves it.

I have had my w600i for over a year now. I really like it a lot. It look great, I can operate it with one hand. I have two areas that I wished were just a little bit better. One, if you don't have your ear right on the spot, the sound fades badly. 2. It has no free games like poker and what ever.

I love this phone! I've been using it for about 1.5 years (Or whenever it first came out). It's unique, sounds good, and has a lot of utility. Unfortunately, the company I work for has switched to nextel. I'll miss this phone so much. Nextel phones suck compared to this one. It will be for sale if anyone is interested. This phone has great features but, the swivel front of the whole phone broke off twice had to get it fixed. Some keys did not work like 4, 6 the back button had to send it back to the company to get a new one with in 3 months of buying it. The screen always frezzes. They stopped making this phone though cause of all the problems

the white screen of death has happened to me as well, but after a bit of research it's actually the phone's firmware being damaged, either by pulling out the battery without powering off properly or overloading the ram. the solution to this problem is 'flashing'. simply visit any mobile repair shop that deals with technical problems such as unlocking and so on. the bad news is that if you don't back up your data to a computer all of it will be completily wiped out! the good is that after it is fixed and in good working condition it will never crash again. you'll be given the flash of life!

ive had this phone for about a year now, and i too have experienced the white screen of death, but for those who dont know, it can be fixed easily, i took it to one of the local cell repair shops and got it fixed in like 5 minutes, lost all the data, but the phone was basically as it first started and for some reason my battery lasts longer.

I am INCREDIBLY pissed off at this phone. Right now I am staring at the white screen of death. I have taken the battery OUT, I have put it back in. I have taken the SIM out, I have put it back in. I cannot get it to turn off once it's on,(other than by removing the battery) and as soon as it turns on it goes directly to the white screen of death. You would think that sony could have figured out a more stable file transfer platform that doesn't risk wiping the entire phone out if it is disturbed during transfer. Adding the inconvenience of not being able to get a live body on the support lines, and that this phone isn't carried in stores and I am ready to run it over with my car.

I've had this phone for 14 months right now and and the only problem I had/have is that the Swivel mechanism started to "stick/jam" and after trying to force it open it broke... I was able to fix it by taking the WHOLE phone apart and tightening the screws which hold it together. I had to do this several times in the last 2 Months as apparently they kept working themselves loose. Eventually one screw fell out by its self and got lost. Also, in the process of "Fixing" the phone I have since lost the camera function..... DESPITE this, this phone is bar none the best phone I've even used... I love the feature set on SE phones. I am actively looking at the k810i; k850i and will happily purchase whichever will work properly on cingular.AT&T network

i had to replace this phone 4 times because it kept freezing, and braking on its own. it has great features and all and i was very happy with it, but if you want a phone that will last longer than 4 months... i wouldnt recomend this one.

first i had the white screen of death and the phone would shut down when tapped lightly or when opening the phone up. the phone was replaced on warranty...i go to open this phone up for the first time and it shuts down completely again..it was brand new!!!? this is my first cell. totally dissapointed

This is my first walkman phone and I love the features. Siz is a bit larger than other phones I have had in the past, but not so large as to cause a problem. Takes wonderful pictures and the sound is absolutely incredible. Texting is easy and phone book is great. I love the calendar it keeps me from being late or forgetting appointments. I never played any games on it or used it for the internet so I cannot comment. The battery is outstanding and lasts forever! The only drawback I have is that the screws come loose after a while, so you have to learn how to fix this yourself or get a pouch to carry it in so as not to treat the phone too roughly. All in all, a terrific phone!

I got this phone shortly after it was released. it lasted all of about 3 months and then it fell apart, literally fell apart. SE's explanation was that the vibrate function slowly undid the screws holding the screen to the main body of the phone, they then refused to replace it despite it still being in warrenty. this phone is a joke steer clear.

ok a BIG reason why people are getting "WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH" is because of the improper action of taking it out of USB mode......when u put the cable cord in your phone and finished putting all your stuff on the phone you have to eject the cable and once you say that the phone will say: usb connection ended. It is now safe to remove the USB cable

Mine actually broke in half at the hinge because the screws got stripped. It happened to be under warranty still so Sony Ericsson fixed it for free. I was really happy. This phone is practically industructable.

Of the four members of my family who have this phone, I am the only one who has gotten the WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH. We all have had problems with it stalling while it processes. Well after my bluetooth couldnt be fixed I upgraded to the W810i. Since then I've realised that the 600 had little glitches that malfunctioned so I am glad I did the upgrade.

ok, in order to put on airplane mode, u gotta turn off ur phone first. then turn it back on and it will say ''TURN ON PHONE'' or ''MUSIC PLAYER''. when u see it, press the music player that is the airplane mode.

i have this phone and although it's not THE BEST. its pretty good. i havent encountered many problems with it but it has shut off on me out of no where! i really want to get a white cover but no store has it! i love the mp3 player. i have 159 songs stored and it's not even full yet. i love the walkman feature. i'd reccommend this phone only if you know how to handle it

The phone is very usefully the USB mode is a little bit slow to be recognized by a PC and the radio is good, the MP3 menu is the best, seems like an ipod, the memory is good, bad the no expand option but if you know how to store the music you can handle many information, the last week I stored 94 songs in my cell phone and have a 25 MB free to store many files. it's a excellent phone, sorry about the size, it's a fat phone, but the style is very nice

Hey everyone i have had this phone for about it year and a half. and im here to tell you its crap. when i first bought it the "white Screen" incident occurred with me 4 times. Each time i had to return the phone to cingular for a new one. i went through 4 phones before the incidents stopped. i have now had the phone quite a while but sometimes the phone just locks up and shuts off. now that it is used my screen, the movingh part of the phone, now wobbles to the point i think in a few more weeks it will completely break. Dont get my wrong i love my w600i, its adorable and has great features, but as time has passed it has just turned out to be unrealiable. i wouldnt recomend purchasing this phone unless you plan on replacing it within a year. thew phone is attractive but it causes much more problems than its worth.

I've had this phone for about 6 months and about 2 months ago 2 screws fell out of the turntable that lets it rotate. It wasn't a big problem, it just wobbled a little. Tonight, though, the other screw fell out, and as I was hanging up, the front and back separated. I now have a nun chuck phone. It's a cool phone; it's just made VERY cheaply.

Purchased one from Cingular had it with no problems and good usage for 5 months before I destroyed it. Received another one from the insurance company with $50 deductable. One month later the hinge came apart in my hands, phone still works fine, but held together with rubber bands. I contacted Cingulars warranty department where after 45 minutes on the phone I was told this is "A common problem" and they would send me a replacement. Sent the broken hinge to Cingular only to have it returned as "Water damaged" "Warranty viod" after only one month, keep in mind the phone worked fine except that the hinge broke. Cingular charged me $210.00 to replace the defective phone while Sony Ericsson fixed the "Water damaged" phone for free in less than a week, I'm still using it and it works fine, but will never use Cingular again, tired of their lack of customer service.

I have had a really bad experience with this phone. It turns off and when I turn it back on it has a white screen and vibrates until I open the back and disconnect the battery. It has been a nightmare especially for business. Get this phone only if you have no business to conduct. Hopefully this was just a defect and my new one that cingular is sending me will be better. Let me know if anyone is having the same propblem.

Love the phone and all the features, it works well enough with Outlook and managing contacts. Great for music on the go. FM radio built in is super cool, calls come in while running to music. Down side is screws coming out of the swivel plate on the first one, replaced by Cingular who said this was a problem. Second phone is on about the 4th month and the screws are coming loose again. Probably not the phone for a power user of 2000+ min/mnth

Swiveling sucks! Unless you really like to swivel don't get this one. It takes 2 motions to fully open it. Impossible to open with just one hand unless you have a LOOOOOOONNNGGGG thumb lol. Also, it's not even a "walk-man" because you can't insert a memory stick. It has a standard 256MB built in but that only holds give or take 50 songs. 50 songs is plenty for me but don't think it will replace your MP3 device due to lack of memory and battery life. Finally, I don't know if I got a faulty one but max volume on mine sucks. At max volume it seems like people are whispering to me and I have to tell them to repeat. Getting a different phone ASAP. Maybe it's just my phone though. Anyone else confirm?

I bought this phone, then had to replace it when the programming took a dump. Your able to use the phone as a usb drive for extra storage, well after transfering a file from my phone to another computer, the phone never came back from file transfer mode. It stayed in a continuous white screen. I sent the phone in for a replacement. 3 days after recieving the replace ment 2 screws fell out from between the 2 half's of the phone. Cingular told me that the phone was discontinued and they were willing to replace it with a phone that had less features, and cost a fraction of what i paid for this phone, with no sort of refunds or compensation. I decided that the phone still functioned the same with the missing screws, and now 3 weeks later, the white screen is back. does anybody know what thats about and or how to fix it?

I've had this phone for a little over 3 months now and let me tell you, this phone is GREAT!!!!! =) For those of you who are complaining about the 256mb non-expandable memory issue. Stop crying. Please. 256 is enough to take pics, video and a whole bunch of mp3 tunes. The phone comes with software so that the songs are converted to save space. The camera on the phone is great too. Lots of effects, and options and not to mention, the video quality is pretty decent too. The graphics on this phone is really amazing, and you can tell by the games that you can play. Dedicated gaming buttons too. What more could you ask for? THE ONLY PROBLEM that I got with my phone in particular is that sometimes when i close the phone, it accidentally powers off; but this happens like only ONCE a month. Maybe because I dropped the phone or exerted too much pressure on it. Other then that, I would recommend this phone to ANYONE. Great looks, sounds (2 speakers give CRAZZZYYYY external sound), supplied headphones are really great too ("in ear" design), graphics are sexy, sound quality is SUPERB, and overall operating system is user friendly and the battery life for mine is AMAZING. I can go 4/5 days without charging my phone. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!. Enjoy =)

Well this phone.. i should say almost all the phones have bugs... for my k750i it just sometimes turns off and blinks black and white...... i think it will happen to other sony ericsson phones too... im guesing its a bug... sometimes wont even turn back onto the main screen

If your phone broke, you are an idiot. You probably tried to twist a whole 360 degrees when it only goes 180. This phone has been the most reliable phone since my last Sony Ericsson 8 years ago. This phone is the best I've ever owned. Hook it up to a FM transmitter and I can play the tunes in my car. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a memory card. What's great is that you don't have to swivel it to answer a call. I love this phone.

THE SONY ERICSSON W600I is a nice phone but the battery cover is real easy to loos. It should have slid off to the side, not up and down, then the hand would feel it coming off. Volume is a bit week but not bad, the walkman part is pretty kawl. the picture and video is what it is. no stablizing feature.

im a cingular agent and own the sony w600i, it's a pretty functional phone at a decent price. i agree it's not as great as the s710, but i got it for $50, so i'm not complaining here. the battery life is a little on the poor side; but the walkman feature is nice; i don't have to purchase an ipod or anythin to listen to my music. overall, i like. i mainly use it for the phone and the walkman; the camera i'm too fond of, but then again, i have my 7.1 olympus stylus for that. i recommend this phone...maybe not if you paid 300 bucks for it, but if u buy at a good price, you'll love it too!

ey i want to say something that the w600 and the w550 and the s710 y think that the s710 is best but the problem is that it dont have a reproducer of mp3 like the walkman but the important is that the s710 have a mp3 reporoduser and more important it have a memory stick duo pro and can put a memory card of 1 gb and the w600 thont have a memory slot and if you see the camera of the s710 and w600 the w600 have more resolution the resolution of the s710 is of 1280�960 and of the w600 is of 1280�1024

I absolutely love this phone!! It definitely turns heads and the speakers are so LOUD!! I had one issue with the WSOD or blank screen while I was trying to update with the Sony Ericsson Update Service via USB, but I fixed it by flashing it with the latest firmware and I haven't had a problem since! Reception is simply awesome. I probably will NOT be using the USB anymore due to the possibility of WSOD. Since the phone has infared and bluetooth capabilities, I will by transferring my music through those. Overall, wonderful phone!!!

This phone SUCKS!!! It isn't Mac friendly or Audible compatible. My first one dropped calls all the time, but I finally sent it back because it was randomly turning itself off. I've only had phone #2 for 2 days and it is even worse. The reception is terrible. It drops calls all over town and then it says No Network Coverage. I called my local Cingular store and the guy had me turn off the phone so he could make some updates. Still sucks! Still dropping calls! And other people I know with Cingular aren't having reception problems in the same places.

I too am a victim of the great "white screen of death" plague. I spoke with SE reps forever and finaly learned how to prevent it. ANYTIME you plug in the USB make sure you are in the home screen and that you don't wiggle or disconnect it without properly exiting the application. Try to make your transfers all in one connection/day as apposed to several different times during the day. Also, let it completely load during USB mode before you begin messing with phone files. Hope this helps because as long as you don't mess the memory up, this is a sweet phone that makes the anything with itunes look like childs play.

Ok i wanna just lay it all out for everyone. I work for cingular and am a present owner of the w600i and i absolutely love it. The battery times are as they state cause i went atleast 15 days without charging and used the phone each day. On top of that the trick with the white screen of death is if it comes up you need to leave your phone alone for about 20 minutes on that white screen and it should go away about 75% of the time. I wouldn't recommend doing tooo much USB transfer at 1 time do it in short spurts to allow it to work faster instead of overloading it because your phone will act up. This is the best phone to own I sell at least 5 a week if not more and has the best reception out of any other phones due to the swivel antenna. If you have any other problems with the phone than its probably a manufacturer mistake. I hope that this helps everyone

Havin un use the same port to charge the phone & listen to the radio is really messed up, so you cant do both at the same time. Other than that I love the phone.

totally disappointing. talk time, standby time not near the stated times on spec sheet. caller name play works only when in wants to. cannot set calendar date correctly. receiver volume reduces to below whisper volume making conversations impossible. this is second w-600 and in process of exchanging again. this phone needs work.

This is a grat all around phone. The caliing is good, MP3/Radio great and Camera is awesome. The phone feels and looks much smaller once held in your hand, I advise you get a good feel by seeing this phone in person if buying. This phone does many things and wont have you bored.. To fix the "White Screen of Death" to this phone just download SEUS from sony ericsson webpage...SEUS = Sony Ericsson Update Service...Download the last and update your phone with the USB cable and that's all!!! no more White Screen ;) believe me...i got experience with those problem too before update...bye...

Having a ball with this w600i. I Gave back a V3i Razr for this and am totally happy. It doesn't give th motorola freeze-up and the Camera option a good and pic clear enough for 1.3mp. Sound quality is clear, but little too much heights/treble sounding. But quick menu response and fluidity. Only design flaw is that the unit ends up upside dwn in your hand when you open it.

there is a problem with all w600's it is not yet to be recalled but it might. the problem is when you attach the usb cable to transfer music to your phone it fries the phone and it is not repairable.

Hey Jenna! the difference of w550 and w600 is that w600 has EDGE wich can transfer 244 kbps. w550 has 8;30 hrs talk time while w600 has 6:30 hrs talk time.

wow this phone is awesome! menu navigation is a tad slow. picture quality is great For the cingular network (US) it comes with a TV service also (you buy channels and an unlimited data plan is recommended). the MP3 player sound quality is crystal clear two thumbs up for this phone!

I'm on my 4th W600 After aprox 60 days of use the screws come out of the swivel and the phone just falls apart. It also isn;t very Mac friendly when it came to Itunes no way and ACC support not on mine. Looking foward to a w810 with out the goofy swivel and 2me

It works great for the first 5 days and dead after transferring some music through USB cable from Mac. This seems to be a common problem after reading comments from many other sites. The customer service told not to use USB cable for Mac, use Bluetooth (which is inactivated). This should be clearly written on the manual. USB works fine for PC through their own software. You also have to close any application before disconnection, or it will fail again. Battery is not as strong as it says. I have to recharge every other day for frequent usage of the phone. Other than that, it is a great phone.

I bought this one recently. The sound is great. You can hear crystal clear and even in difficult to get good reception areas. I did not like the file manager to download songs and it is only at 128 bps and if you are used to I-Pods this is very slow. The camera future is great and downloading data is a snap. It has TV futures and I have not used them

this cell phone is just awesome. the sound quality is better than any other cell phone, and louder. the only thing i didnt like was the cingular�s software. the cell phone sometimes got frozen trying to run java applications, and sometimes it all of a sudden would turn it off by itself. I took it to a technical assistance and they formated it, and installed the original software from sony ericsson, updated, now its just perfect. never froze again, and never turned off either...

So after u connect the phone to ur pc wid the usb cable...u should get a new removable disk option on my computer. just click on that and there going to be different folders the same one's u have in ur phone on the file manager menu...just copy and paste the pics u want to add......so simple. !! have fun !!!

I can't believe that people actually buy a phone that has 2 stereo speakers on it and then complain that it is too loud...LoL...The 550 is only a tri-band phone where as the 600 is quad band and the 550 is only gprs where as the 600 is egprs(EDGE). Those are the major differences. I am a w600 owner for about a month now and I absolutely love my phone. I have no problems with it as of yet, but I do know that if you mess with the OS and upload WAY too much stuff into it you probably will get a white screen. If you get a white screen all you do is leave your phone on with the white screen and so I am told it should go back to normal after about 20 minutes of just sitting there.

I've had this phone for a few months now and up to this point and somewhat satisfied. The phone does not live up to the hype. It is slow, the menu is difficult to navigate at times, and many simple features are not present or are very difficult to use. I only came on here to gripe about how the speaker volume is way too high on the phone when listening to music. level 0-1 is so friggen loud, its like having music on, or having it off while all other subsequent levels gradually increase sound. This is a huge turn off for the phone, as sometimes i may be in my room reading and want a little background sound, but i can't because the phone is super loud even after i turn the volume to the lowest setting and even after setting the equalizer options all to 0. very disappointing. trying to turn on the walkman function in my office and the phone is way too loud for me to play it without disturbing other people.

nice features, however too bulky. could have been better if antenna for the FM radio is internal or external and not an additional gadget that is connected to the earpiece; i have small hands and when i use the phone without the turning the face 180 degrees its bulky. when you twist it 180 degrees its confusing how to turn it back to the left or to the right. when you hold it face up and you need to use the key pads when you twist the cover you have to turn the phone upside down again because it will end up with the face down. nice sound. over all from 1 to 10 its a 6. i will return this phone.

I have owned so many phones in my life and the w600 is the best phone i have owned. It does everything that you could think of except unlock your car. There is only 1 minor downfall with the phone and that is, despite the daytime pictures coming out clear, the nighttime pictures dont have the same clarity. Seeing as though you dont buy a phone just for the camera you buy it for the phone then all in all I would recommend this phone to everyone it is definentally my favorite.

W600 and w550i are both available in Europe and America, the diference is that w600 has EDGE and W550i dont has it. I am going to buy w550i, because i dont need EGDE for nothing. But then my Boyfriend bought this phone and I still have 30 days to decide if I want to keep the s710 or exchange it for the w600. i love this phone to death however i've had to replace the phone 3 times. First phone i purchased the camera didnt even work. Second phone several days after buying it, it erased all messages, immbeded games & apps, and settings. Third phone the bluetooth didnt work properly and goes staticy if the phone is more than 1foot from the device with line of sight. And for a guy who changes phones regulaly, I think I will settle with baby for a whole...she's very user friendly, the walkman player is exceptional, only there is a no crossfading, so there is a gat between songs, The Stereo speakers has great punch for it size....Maybe the memory should be expandable...

I got this phone for about 2 months and I never had any problems with it until I got the white screen of death. Yes you guessed it, I have to send it in for repairs. Other than that issue, the phone design is not bad. the features on the phone are mind boggling. The reception is great. all in all I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

I had the phone 3 weeks and started having glitches. I'd get a TM and open to reply and it would turn itself off. Then I'd get a call try to go handsfree and it would turn itself off. Then I'd get a call and it would turn itself off! Then the back light went out. I was past my 15 day return policy so off to Arvato Services Inc. SEMC Repair Center it goes. Hope I get it back soon. I really like listening to the radio on it!

I've had both the w550i and the w600i. The w550i is the european model and the w600i is the American model. I had horrible reception with total blackouts in some areas when using the w550i in America. I replaced it with a w600i and the problem dissapeared. The reason is that the w600i utilizes 25% more cell phone towers than the w550i. The w550i also had a glitch where it would not save my pictures after i took them. It would say "saving" then just dump me back to the previous menu. The problem was fixed with the w600i. Beware upgrading your firmware (the software of the phone). Sony has no official upgrade to my knowledge and I have heard numerous accounts of people rendering their phone useless by attempting to do so. The only complaint I have with this phone is the battery life. It drains very quickly when you utilize the many features such as camera/video/games/music. When I had the N-Gage QD, my battery would last like 10 hours if I played games. This phone lasts around 3. I hear many people complaining about the limited 256 megs of memory. While I would like a memory stick for pictures, 256 megs is plenty of memory for a cellphone. This isn't an ipod or a digital camera, its is a phone....one with great features and a cheap pricetag. Why would you want 2 billions songs on a cellphone? 80 is plenty. I give the design a 9 (swivel is sometimes a pain), Features a 10, and performance a 7 (due to the horrible battery life)

I got the white screen as well... I'm on a mac so I thought maybe (since it's not supported) that screwed it up. but after many frustrating attempts at removing the battery, finally I just let the white screen sit and had it plugged into the power cord. after about 20min. It came back. no problem...? for the money this should not happen! and to bongo: the w600 is not the same as the w550. well almost. the w600 is quad-band, making it much easier to connect to the plentiful 850mhz bands here in the states.

ha, had this phone for about a month now, and it bloody rocks!, best quadband phone evar(maybe am just stupid cuz this is my very first phone lol). love the walkman, got about 150 songs in it. the earphones are OK, the mega-bass equalizer is schweeeet!!!. dont like the swivel thingy.. thats like protecting the keypad instead of protecting the screen from getting scratched up or sumtin? but pretty nifty phone. i had a few freezes quite a few times, had to take the battry out to to get it going again, :(

uh... realdragon my point isn't that it will only play one song, its that it can't only play one song. The only way to do that is to make a playlist with only one song in it, or to only have one song for that artist/album so when you play the folder there is only one song in the playlist. basically i mean there is no repeat option on the phone for one song, there is only repeat for the entire playlist/folder

Hey... I accidently deleted the desktop option from the remote control option while trying it out..... Is there anyway I can get it back? (It worked and it was cool!) But now I only have Presenter & Media player.. I really hope there is a way to retrieve it without having to reset my phone...

to anton , if you hate that problem of it keep on playing the same songs in that folder , try making a playlist of all the songs in ur phone , and start playing it , that should help solve the problem.

uh derick... i never installed limewire on my phone? I was only uploading some pics and mp3s to my phone from my computer... still don't know whats up with the stereo widening option where it auto shuts off when you change tracks. plus i've noticed that there is no repeat option. if you go into a folder(album, or artist) it plays all songs no matter what. there is no way to isolate one song and repeat the same song over and over again unless there is only one song in that folder. the more i use this phone, the more problems i find with it and wish sony had thought through the options before releasing it to the public.

to EcNiv, appreciate that man, but yeah i know how to do that. that's when the file is a .jar file. the one i was asking before, was a .jar file too, but when u download it from a site, it will be a zipped folder and when u extract it, you will get loooots of files, images, ,jpg, .gif, .wav and i forgot the others, you really cant install them just by extracting it. but i already found out how to solve it, just change the file extension to .jar .it was awesome, coz i have games like, call of duty 2, ragnarok and other awesome games. metal slug 2 too! its really awesome.

Hey Red, for the .jar games you have to make a folder in the 'Other' folder under file manager (or just under the drive on ur pc), and then put the .jar apps in the folder. After that you have to install it from your fone, just open file manager, open to the 'Other' folder and the folder u made, and u'll see the .jar files and u can install it from there =D Btw I just got this phone 2 days ago and it's awesome, the walkman feature is ez to use, and u can listen to music and use the camera at the same time! The speakers are loud and clear. and the grip reminds me of my old V300 :D overall this is an awesome phone to have... packed with features and it can multitask! i was impressed.

it automatically save pics when you take photos... just go to menu, then pictures, then go to menu>filemanage>pictures>photoalbum and they are al stored in the photo album

i've had this phone for about 4 days and have been installing stuff on it non stop. today I installed some more songs and got the white screen of death. press power on button and screen goes blank forever with no buttons responding and nothing happening on the screen. after trying to restart it 20 times, i took the battery out and thought what a piece of crap this was. after taking a 1/2 hour shower I put the battery back in and it booted up. the first thing i did after it loaded was go to phone mode and then turn the phone off again. when i did, it didn't give me the normal screen that asks me if i really want to shut down or not. After turning on and turning off 3 more times, the shut down menu finally came back and now the phone is running properly. in any case, if you get WSOD all is not lost... just keep trying =) I do have a problem with the phone tho. it has stereo widening option, but it turns itself off everytime i switch songs so i have to keep turning it back on everytime i change playlists, or tracks.

for using the flash on the phone, go to ur camera, and scroll through your settings... there u will see a picture of a light... turn that on... so when you take a picture, it should flash... works for me... :)

to general, it wont save the pic unless u choose.. take a new pic, that way it will be automatically saved, or you press back. but if you leave it just like that, it wont save it automatically, i dont know if i answered your question, but try those two suggestions.

the phone is a good phone. the only problem i am having which i need help with is that when i take a pitcure with the camera, it says saving but it does not save the pitcure. the video camera saves its videos though, only the still camera don't work. help me out please, or i will just have to break the phone and go to another brand!!!!!!

I just go the white screen of death on my w600i. It's dead to the world...won't do a thing. Cingular is replacing it. I love this phone, best one I've had, and I've had lots. But the WSOD makes me nervous. I had it plugged in to my computer via USB cable and my computer came up with "Insert SIM Card." It would then just go into file transfer mode, and when I shut all programs down on my computer, disconnected the USB cable and turned it back on, the white screen was there and that's all she wrote. I might just sync from infrared cuz even though that's molasses, maybe I won't get the white screen on the new one. Charge it though the standard charger instead of USB.

Hey Guys, I found out how to put the phone on "Handsfree". I read the users comments and someone has posted da answer for it!!! Guys? I installed Disc2Phone and PC SUITE from a cd dat came wit ma phone. Wat i want to know is after i transfer music files from computer to Phone (Using Disc2Phone) ma Phone always turns off automatically. Is it normal? I dunno how to synchronise using PC suite software. I love it... the sound quality is great... playback from the walkman is great... stereo speakers... very loud if u want it to be... game play is good as well... only one thing that's got me wondering... yeah i know that jumborie, but i already got the answer to my question too. someone told me. but just incase u get to download stuff like this too, it says .jar and when u download it, it is zipped and when u extract it, it has loooots of files like .dat and some images and other stuff, all u have to do is RENAME THE ZIPPED FOLDER to .jar. and everything will be fine. wooo pee for us. and nazgul, nope i dont know how to do that, but i dont want to risk it anyway, this is my 2nd w600, the first time i got it, well maybe since it was the first few releases, it was a crappy one, now i got my second one, i dont want to gamble and take my chances with upgrading and stuff. its working well anyway. but check the sonyericsson site, i think i saw something there before, u have to install that thing in your computer and when u connect your phone to your computer, it will automatically update it and stuff. im not sure. go check coz i didnt read it that much.

hey red depends on which folder you put it in, I have had mixed luck with such files. If you put it in the the "other" folder and then when you look at the file through your phone you should have an install option available. Worked for me for all the files, otherwise more details about the file might help hope this works out

that happened to me too nazgul, but one time, sound came from the head phones, im not sure how i did it. mmm try putting your phone on silent and make someone call you, im not sure if it would work, coz thats the only thing that i can think of that i have done before.

nope i dont get that failed message when i use the shuffle play mode, but i used to have a defect on my phone. it wont turn on, but i returned it. and now, its working well. one time, i was playing mp3, then watching videos (making the mp3 pause)then using yahoo messenger, i was running lots of programs simultaneously, then my phone restarted haha. well, i wont run more than 2 programs next time. its back to normal again though, which is cool

Got a question for people who have been using the MP3 function of the W600 it works fine in the normal mode, but it keeps giving me a "Failed" message when I try to run the music in shuffle mode. Just curious if other people having the same problem? it can record long videos, even up to an hour or even more, coz i tried recording a minute, and its around mmmm 600kb, so do the math and this phone has 256MB so there ya go. yea since i got my replacement, its been working well too. hurray for us sturg! haha. i got mine friday too, the black cover looks better.

I got a replacement last Friday and the people there assured me it isn't a common glitch (of course). It's been working great so far, no problems. If my screen messes up again I'm getting a different one, but the phones capability rocks. I can put at least 50 songs on here if they're not all super long like Metallica or Tool or something. But that's without any pictures. Pictures will fill it up quick, but you can take them and save them onto a computer to free up that space.

its an upgrade pat. well depends on how u look at it. w600 has a smaller screen though, but it has some features that s710 dont have. and vice versa. i see u are on cingular too huh? coz the phones u are mentioning are for the US and cingular has them

to Joe: 256 mb can hold around 35-40 songs? depending how big your files are but if you use up all the memory for songs, since its shared memory you dont have much space left for pictures etc. When you say shut off do you mean while using it to call people or just after its on for an hour it turns off? I havent had any problems with my phone so far *touch wood* the only thing i dont like is a minimized mail icon i cant get rid of ( its not the email icon) .The stereo speakers are great, loud and clear. I've had this phone since dec. 29 and its still working fine *touch wood*

i have heard the the first day u buy the sony ericsson w600i it works fine but the second day it starts to lag and it doesnt work that well. Another question, is the 256 memory slot large enough to hold a "good" amount of songs and does the phone shut off after u use it for an hour or so???

got my new phone today. well last time, when i got it, when someone called me, it turned off. then happened again. but when i took the battery out, it was working good. then after 3 days, it happened again. it only lasted a week. then now i got my replacement. so far, nothing bad has happened, someone tried to call me and it didnt happen. about the w900, i havent seen that much glitches about it. try to read more opinions on the w900 page. i hope the phone i got now aint defective, goodluck to all of us haha

I bought this phone from Cingular a week ago for $300, got a $100 rebate and talked the guy into another $50 rebate since they offer it on-line. Radio Shack has some sweet deals on this one and the razor. I loved the phone at first and the walkman rocks. Yesterday my phone wigged out and the pixels on the screen are all messed up and it keeps going white. I took it back to Cingular and they're going to replace it tomorrow cause they're all out of stock till then. I know the guy and he said that he hasn't heard of anyone else having problems. Anyone have this going on?

the difference between the w600 and the w550 is that the w600 is a quad band phone and the w550 is only a tri bad phone. my advice is go with the w600 over the w800 and w550 cause its a quad band phone.

i have a se s700 and i find a bit uncomfortable to slide the phone to write a message or call some number.. i prefer the samsung slider.. its faster.. but the sony ericsson software phones are much much better-- when the phone is opened is great beause it�s easier to write sms ..and its awesome to talk with the mobile phone opened.

I just got mine through cingular...Actually am impressed. The menu is quick, the screen (although small) is clear. The camera is decent as long as you have ample light, and the walkman feature is nice. Software is also nice. Bluetooth works very easily. The w800 is better, but for the price difference, not that much better. A good phone overall.

I just got the W600I from Cingular, A couple of things i dont like about it. The screen is small and you can't turn off the Shutter sound when taking a picture. Ive been using the S710 for more than 8 months and i think i like it better than the W600i.

A friend of mine just recently bought the w800 for 400 bucks and it's pretty cool. I would prefer it over the w600 due to the amount of memory but if I buy the w600 through cingular I get $100 off. I don't think I'll use the browser much but it's a nice feature.

kr8tos, i do want the w800 too, well this or the w800. i have been debating with myself which one to get, well they are all depending of the compatibility of the accessories i want to get. they are awesome! but the low points of the w800, it has no internet browser, just WAP, but the mem stick would make all the difference. i have been going back and forth on the two reviews and their specs haha

I am looking at the unlocked version of the Sony Ericsson W600 or the 600i to buy. I have an AT&T sim card on an existing ATT plan from 2 years ago. Do you know if this phone will work on the ATT GSM network? Are the accessories - charger, handsfree, compatible with these phones and the T610 or T616? Well as i said i get those games form eMule that is a p2p software as Kazaa, Ares etc... So u just search by "sonyericsson" or "w600" and u'll find an archive .rar or .zip with lots of games Have fun all.

All I have to say is that after a week of having it Im so happy with this phones is awsome, the sound is perfect, MEGABASS does everything, My phone does not turn off like dude's below. When u talk i hear pretty good and as well the other person hear u. I have downloaded so many games from eMULE. I love it, camera and video are so good too. If there were more themes 'll be perfect, k700's and s710's doesn't fit it. The transfer between PC and phone is kinda slow. U must get one, if u don't have enough money to get the W800 that is my case. Everything is the same except the memory stick slot and the megapixel camera.

This phone will be available on the Rogers network and it will be like 249.99 when you sign up for 3 years, about 449.99 to just buy it out no contract. Its not going to come out until at least December 3rd because Cingular has first rights. It will be just like the one from Cingular in all aspects except it will be branded rogers. And other guy is rightdont buy it from those cell only places in like Pcifac Mall, they do rip you off, you get it online for cheaper the you could through them, but have patience you will be bale to buy it from a dealer

To lovew600: do not i repeat do not buy from pmall yet cause they really rip you off for imported phones. only purchase phones at pmall if canadian providers will not hold them. To paulette: did you buy your phone from a legitimate provider. from what i heard, your problem could be a faulty part, i heard that sometimes in your situation because of some faulty parts the phone could explode better go check it out

hey lovew600 this phone is not available through Rogers but Rogers uses GSM tech, so if you buy this phone at say easycell or pacific mall in Markham/Toronto then you can use this phone. It's all about having GSM/SIM card.

In Argentina, the prices would be around 1000 pesos (u$s 330). I think that's the price for free-sim cellphone because you can win this phone by downloading a ringtone from movistar's page and they say that the price of this prime is 1000 pesos. I think it would less buying with a new line.

I think this one has everything i need of a cellphone, and of course the important thing for me is the 850 band. I'm from Argentina, and with my K750i I have coverage problems, not because of the phone but, some friend of mine told me to buy it, anyway, I can strongly recomend to purchase the K750i to anybody able to talk without the 850 band.It's a great phone and I think that the W600i it's going to be better, even without a memory card, 256kb it's a lot of room for song and photographs, even more , with 1.3 megapixels it's enough too. i read someone where that SE only made this phone w/o memory slot and less memory for cingular because cingular likes to cell cheap phones (free phones) because 99% of the people who buy phones buy FREE phones... because many people dont want to spend money... but here are those people (1%) like us like the higher end phones... but yea I am soo happy this one is coming out.. I havnt gotten an MP3 player bceause i was scared i wouldnt use it lol, but i use my cell tonz so this would be great.. plus when i use to borrow my brothers mp3 player.. i would be at most 30 songs haha! i know sad... but yea like the other kid said, by the time you listen to 80 songs i bet the battery will be drained.. anyways im super happy with this phone.. and i LOVE the game mode and how you have 3d and all that jaz, and playing sideways... something the first walkman cell phone doesnt have so yea .. this one is an all around good phone. The other phone focuses majorly on music.. but i hear these speakers are better, But yea this is my christmas present haha.. hope it comes out by then. And if you want more memory i would suggest you looking at an LG, there is an MP3 one that can hold 1gb in its memory slot. ANyways i always loved SE but i always bought nokia (which in my taste... is going down i know sad) I never liked motorolas.. got 2 of em.. and the receptions were really bad and dropped alot of calls.. Nokia has ben perfect, i heard SE is also good. For the folks complaining about not having enough memory, go get a K750/W800. If you're complaining that it doesn't have the 850 band, get a Z520. If you want both, then go get T290a and an iPod and tape them together. You guys are really missing the point of a midrange phone. And to the guy that said that it loses the point of being a "walkman/mp3" player, then what's the point of selling those little flash 128/256/512mb mp3 players. Why not just tell everybody to get a Rio, Zen, or iPod?

If you want big memory, then go with w800/k750. The s700/710 can only 128 memory cards anyways. The W600 has internal "256mb" ready to store. Getting a s700/710 would not get you anyway better than the w600, only except the bigger screen! S700/710= less memory, no quadband,older model, no 30hr playmode, etc... On a final note: would you want a slot with "only: 128mb limit or internal 256mb. Think before you post!

they have lower end phones and high end phones like the k750 and the w800..its about time the middle-range phone is released. Not every single person needs a tonne of memory...Plus, mid-range users don't like to spend overly much on a phone but still wants it to have functions most other phones on the market does..The w600i satisfies this, more than enough. Hopefully when it comes out it won't be more than $350USD..anyone DISAGREE???

Thank you Jayden. It's nice to know that somebody else thinks that SE doesn't have to make every phone a high end phone. If SE is to continue making these great phones, they have to accomodate to all the markets. Be it high end luxury phones, down to the bare bones entry level phones.

i think 256MB memory is quite ample you'd hardly be able to listen to all them songs you could fit on the phone before the battery went flat.

Well it doesn't have more kbps, it has EDGE instead of slow GPRS (for W550) for faster WAP/internet access, that's one of the reasons why it's the W600 and the other one is called W550, and like you noticed, higher is better! (And it's not newer, it's basically the same model) And I'm amazed at how many people can't look for information on the internet and ask for people to find it for them and mail them. Gotta train your lazy fingers, guys.

it's cool..i am gonna get sony ericson w600.. don't compare with nokia.different product have different feature/function. take a look at n90..it's cool..that's the advantage,..see the disadvantage point..there's no vibration,too costly,no infrared,and take a look at the battery talk time capacity..i am just expressing my opinion.

Come on guys, be realistic. The reason this phone lacks features to some extent is because they were making it more affordable. Add a memory card slot and that adds about an extra $150. With the features you guys want you might as well ask for built in air-conditioning to help with global warming. Come on. What other phone can you get for this price ($250) with such features?? its odd how Sony Ericsson technology of the phone are down sliding..well compare to my k750 and s710, this phone doesent seem to have quite that many features. One thing i can say about this phone is that its got really good lookin headphones.

This phone is totally great.. with 1.3Mpixel and great sound plus with very nice touch design i think this phone is not comparable to others. Well for those who are think the N90 is better than this , u should look its' design first , size and weight . Eventhough N90 comes with cool features but dun u think it is almost fragile?cannot have vibration mode becos of its' lens. Can u imagine if u drop it? Remember.. every phone has its own features. By the way i'm using N90 and z800, and looking forward this model for my collection.

Nokia n90 has everything the w600, w800 and k750 have plus alot more. As a past sony fan, i would reccommend you save your money for the release of the n90. I was totally stoked about the W800i, then the w600 came out for the American market. Looks great, awesome features, love the built in headset jack, but I will not buy this handset unless it comes with an expandable memory slot. 256mb is puny in comparison to the 2GB potential of the w800i or k750, especially if I want to use it as an mp3 player.

No way. Sony Ericsson has went from yes to expansion slots to none. This is a major disappointment to many people. MP3 Player? are you kidding me? 256 is not enough for a MP3 player. Besides, IMHO, the s700i still looks better than W600.
