LED-flash is misleading. In report its correct. Its no flash at all. there is an external flashoption which is firing if needed. It cannot be forced to fire= not ideal. I always thought that is has bluetooth-option for wireless data-transfer. maybe confusing with cable. Dont like the permanent shut-down mode. one has to wake it up by pressing two buttons all the time. ok i understand. battery-life limited.

Yes and still using this at this year...together w/ my w810, They had both SUPERB 'megabass' quality,that no ever walkman has to produce,, Im using it as my mp3 player and their sound is far far superior than ipods or other android phone today even with 3rd party apps bass enchancement, It cannot match with these walkmans MEGABASS! Using my hpm 82 adapter, and mdr ex700sl as my in-ear phone.. Im lucky and proud to known and to have this at this time,, Its sound has amazingly unimaginable PUNCH OF BASS! I can say this is THE BEST SOUND QUALITY in the world! No mp3 or equalizer can surpass this ,even clear bass of sony by itself ,their latest walkman player,HD sound,latest ipod or beats on htc... MEGABASS of that old walkman from sony ericsson(W900,K750,W800,W810,W700,W710) are the true essence and quality of a sound/music ! I only had now and using my W800i and W810i.. And im lucky theyre still alive using today.. ill take care of this til d end of time :) Coz nothing like this now that u can find..even the sound of it...

I recently got this good oldie. This phone is good, but there are two things that balder me. Camera opens itself without touching everything. It's specific fault to this model. And you can't just import mp3's drag and drop mode to memorycard otherwise the phone says it's imported wrong software or something. You have to use Disc2Phone software to get all mp3's working on phone. Other than that it's very good phone. With these two problems i still prefer the newer w810i. But good phone still tough.

I just got an almost new W800 from ebay. Oh man! I feel younger! haha I currently have the Xperia Arc S. To me the W800 feels snappier just for the fact that is a straight-forward mobile phone and way better looking than any modern touchscreen phone. Nowadays phones are just a a big rectangular LCD screen, no design at all. The W800 ( and other phones of the day) has a way better design that you can tell it took time to develop. I believe that the beauty of design of the modern phones is in the software due to the use of big LCD displays. I am so happy I was able to find a nice W800 :) Will keep it forever.

Had this phone for about 5yrs. Yup it's still working nicely I still use it until now the only thing you would notice it that it lost its orange rubber on the joystick & the deteriorating color of the phone on the sides, overall still works fine battery still works up to 3days no charge with everyday average use; my speaker is still loud, in keypads the chrome finish is already gone the white finish is still intact although with some scratches the Camera Shutter button is now very sensitive. Nice Camera w/auto-focus function & light, a fairly huge amount of storage up to 2gb like mine. The best phone for me up until now. Overall rating is 9/10.

After five years of very heavy usage and uncountable drops this phone still operates pretty well. Perfect sound, battery lasting about three to four days... by far the best choise (at least at that time!) :-P

This phone is just incredible. I had for over 3 years now and still functioning very good. I really love this phone and had recommended it to many people for its great camera and clarity of sound (though a little soft). The main disapointing thing about it is the joystick. I had to replace it twice and I need to change it now but unfortunatly it's not available here in egypt. It also had a rigid frame; it dropped several times and only restarts.

I totally agree with you. I've had my W800i for a little over five years now and still love the phone over the years. I've tried several models from other manufacturers (including some N-series) and still hold this phone dearly. It got a fault last week (2nd time in its history - even with tough use) and i'm not moved to buy a new one. However, the onset of 3G, WiFi, etc means I will soon have to relegate my W800 to second phone (for my rarely used second line). Presently considering an Android touchscreen phone.

I have own and still use this is a 5yr old phone! I feel like it could easily last for another 5yrs or more! The expandable memory is great for music and photos. The 2mpx camera is better that some of the 3 or 4mpx camera phones I've seen on the market and the bluetooth functionality is easy to use and well interfaced. If the market wasn't turning towards EDGE or WiFi phones I would never dream of getting a new phone! Even now I'm torn on whether or not to get a new phone!

you can't actually stream youtube, you should download it first then after it's finìshed, you can now view. i'm using the opera mini application and excellently i am now connected 24/7 on the world wide web. try this app and you'll see the difference. i love this phone.

I've been a w800i user for almost 4 years now and it never let me down! moneys worth! camera, walkman, excellent batttery even up to now. still one of the best unit released by sony ericsson together with its t610 and p1i. My only problem right now is the casing. Almost 20% of it have faded away esp. those silvery portions like the cancel,back,okay button,joystick as well as the silvery circle holding the camera at the back, plus the battery cover got cracked already. But even with those casing problems, i still cannot find a new phone to replace it! if only i could find an original casing replacement for it. Darn, its hard to let go this kind of phone. I'm trying to look at naite, c701, or the t700 but still i'm having doubts especially that SE lately produces weak phones. how i wish SE would go back to its glory days.. nevertheless i would will give the phone 10/10 rating even after 4 years of use.

As another poster already mentioned, it's probably the wrong tune format.check if it's a supported format.for instance, maybe you uploaded wav or something.that's why you can see it but aren't able to play.

I'm a very rough user but still this phone is tough... dropped from a moving car... fell in water... still no problems... bought in 2005... Bought the phone 1month ago. Camera got damaged after 7days. Speaker got damaged after 14days. Felt so much depression. Took it to the servicing center.They demanded 10 USD to fix it claiming it harware related issue. Today I flashed my phone completely by myself. Every thing is fine now. I've been also using it for the last three years and it never let me down. Its camera, walkman, internet, calendar/alarm and adressbook features are just great. I even use it like cooking timer and flashlight. Have I already mentioned that sometimes I make phone calls with it? ;)

the problem is simple...it's a bug in the factory phone's software. my g502 drives me crazy every time with that automatic shut down, but you can solve that problem with a data cable and few softwares from sonyericsson.com :D i can say my phone works better after updating the software :D try it and you'll find the difference :D good luck

about the security for the gallery, you can add an application to your phone that does this, search online... about the automatic idle mode, there is as well it's in the phones settings used it it works... really love this phone! had it for four years now, still working fine and bec I take extra good care of it, it doesn't have much scratches or chips. every feature still works! really love the phone!

umm not sure exactly what you mean, but on the phone, when you go to the files on "file manager", press "more" (when you've selected a file) > "manage files" > then you can copy/move the file to and from the phone to memory card.

Love this phone...!! My brother gave it to me more than 3 years ago (he got the phone in some SE event in Sweden before the official release)and still working like the fist day... (just the joystick suffered an accident after the phone fell into a glass full of coke - and yes, the phone survived that-). I never missed a call because the reception, and really don't want to change it, but i treated it very bad in the past (when i didn't realize the treasure i had) and now the phone is all crook and very scratched (and is not easy to get it to that point), and now that i'm not a student, i feel a bit ashamed of the phone looks in front of my boss and mates at work... After all this time I charge my w800 every 5th day or so!!!! the sound and reception are flawless! I usually don't get tied to brands but now i'm in love with SE and don't think i will change my mind soon...

Well, my 14th is coming up. I've had this phone for a year (I bought it second hand from Ebay). It's been great. I've dropped it loads. (Even from above my head hieght. I'm tall), and the keys and screen are still in good condition. I want an upgrade though. If only it looked nicer lol.. And I want more Waklman features. Funny... I too am looking to finally replace my W800i with the Xperia X1. I tried the K850i last year and although I was impressed I still am drawn back to the W800i. I purchased this phone right when it came out back in August of 2005. There are very simple and powering reasons for this - the phone, simply put, is SOLID and FAST. I've dropped it a million times and yes it's even been run over by a car, no joke. The build quality is superb. Also navigating and general functionality is flawless and quick. This is probably due to not much programming overhead. The phone does exactly what you need it to without useless things to bog it down. The 2MP camera looks great. The walkman functionality is great. The keypad is very clicky giving a perfect response. And the joystick is one of the best around due to a tiny rubber piece in the middle. As mentioned above I have tried newer SE phones and while I am a SE loyalist I still am always finding myself wanting to stick with my W800i. Bottom line - if anyone is looking for a great phone get one of these because they are now very cheap. I've seem them new on ebay for around $100 only. The fact that they are three years old means nothing. You really aren't missing anything in the newer phones (but alas I will try the Xperia X1).

It amazes me how you guyz keep asking these questions about which camera phone looks the best, the answer is NONE, All these cell phones use cheap lenses.. PERIOD ive got a nokia 1.3M, sony 1.2M and another sony 2M pixel phones and all outcomes are the same! Clear in the middle and blurry going out toward the edges. Nothing changes, i go to my sony digital camera and go to VGA mode and the picture is IMACULATE from the inside and out!! No blur's at all its all about the LENSE. And until these cell phone companies realize to put in better lenses, the pics will always come out half way descent. But then again its a cell phone camera.. How much quality do you really expect to get?? Try it for ur self, if u have a camera phone and digital camera, set them to the same resolution and snap the same picture and look at them on the computer closely..

I suggest that you go for the SE w800i. They are both music phone, they both have the same features but the main advantage of SE is that it has a camera light and has an autofocus feature unlike that of Nokia 5310 which has a fixed focus camera.

Yes, it's absolutely good. I'm using one since January 2006 and it is still in perfect condition. High quality materials are used, so I guarantee you this will last for ages. I've dropped it like million times on all sorts of surfaces, but it almost looks the same as the day I purchased it. As for features, it has a very nice 2mp camera that takes quite good -and sometimes wonderfull photos, a very good music player with Sony powerfull earphones, stereo FM radio with RDS, and a 512mb memory card. The file manager is easy to use and very simple. The phone is allover fast-responding and intuitive. The photo gallery is nice and fast, zooming is also fast. Loudspeaker volume is high, so is the call volume. The only downside in my opinion is the video recording capabilities. If you need a reliable phone with nice music and camera features, go get it. I hope I've been of some help to you.

This phone is just gorgeous!! Love the design in the cover, great colours mix, plus the camera comes with a cover which make me feel safe about the lens. Nice grip, just perfect, not too big not too small. Compares with the latest SE phones, the volume is kinda low, but I dont need them to take over a party, so I satisfied with that, besides, the voice quality is better, wont make my ears annoyed by unclear bass or sharp notes like other phones do. I had it for more than a year, hope the joystick and the rest of the part will last longer more than 2 years LOL (I read some comments said after 2 years there would be some troubles with those parts). I searched another phone lately, Nokia and Samsung, I tried them and read the reviews, SE got better phones!!!! I def wont buy but phones except SE. Yes this phone is great... but as i didnt take care of it it finally died on me.... what annoyes me the most with my SE`s (because i only use SE)is the cable where the phones plug is very weak and very breakable.... still the joystick lasted for a long time, 2 years... the problem why it died is because of the battery which got swollen up like a big balloon... i really recommend this phone to people want a nice mp3 player

I have this phone since it first appeared and I must say that it's very resistent to shocks:) The camera works very good, the battery also(up to 5 days if you don't use the player and games), the sound is good, but the greatest disadvantage is the joystick!!It will stop working after a while and that's quite a bad thing about it. But at this price, it's worth buying:) P.S.-I had it for a triple price when it first came out:(

I have this phone already at 2 years and it is in perfect conditions. Everythings on it works perfectly, the battery is working like a new one! I'm just worried because the scratches and because it isn't so white like when it was new! I was thinking in an upgrade but I don't find the perfect replacement. I think I will keep it more to years to see what's next!

I never knew what a great phone i had until i sold it and got more than 50% of its original value (after 18 months of use). I bought a 5310 and it sucks... bad battery, meek ringtone volumes and horrible s/w..kept switching off. the W800i gave me excellent music quality, amazing battery life and amazing durability under extreme circumstances ( i trek a lot and i must have exposed my phone to water and dust or several occasions- the phone gave me no problems watsoever) This phone, i think, was a trailblazer for Sony's eventual success

After having this phone for two years. I have concluded that this phone is probably one of the best phones ever made (in my opinion anyway), now correct me if I'm wrong but I can't find another Cybershot phone and Walkman phone with the same features, like this and K750i. All I seem to find is that the new Walkman phones seem to miss out on autofocus and flash in the cameras. :(

I bought K810i as a replacement for my 2 years old W800i. I bought the K810i because i thought 3.2MP with xenon flash is a good upgrade from my 2MP with LED flash W800i BUT I WAS WRONG.... The photos from the K810i were not better than my photos from W800i. The colors are dull and not as sharp. The xenon flash was only good at night time. For macro shots... you cannot use the xenon flash because it will overexpose your photo. FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO UPGRADE YOUR W800i for 3.2MP cameraphones.. better think twice first. NOT A BIG DIFFERENCE AND NOT WORTH IT.

I LOVE this phone. It is without a doubt the best phone I've had. I've had it for over a year and a half. When I have to buy another mobile it will be a SE. The camera quality is just like a true stand alone camera. Sound quality is great, design is really great. I live in the US and it's not a common phone here (I purchased it on Ebay). I have only two sorta complainaints 1. Is that when I place my phone in my pocket the camera lens sometimes opens. 2. Which I knew when buying is that it's a Tri-band phone if it were a Quad band, it would be so much better. Again I knew about it so, I can't be upset with the phone. I've taken this phone to Europe and when I had to use it, it was perfectly clear. People couldn't tell I was overseas. Again I LOVE this phone.

Now that I have the option to change in it for a brand new w960 I really feel sorry, cause it has been a real neat gadget that has helped and entertained me a lot. david, i was extremely pleased with this phone also until i dropped it and broke it. id safely say it was the best phone iv ever had. i then decided to upgrade to k800i, which has 3.2 megapixel camera and some other extra features. so id recommend that, as you can pick it up for less than �100 now. thers also a k810i, which is an update but almost identical. i think u cudnt go wrong with eithr of these.

This is a totally wonderful phone. I traded it out for a Z610, and I missed my W800 right away. I dropped it over 100 times, got it waterlogged, accidentally stepped on it with my boot and it was fine. For the time when it came out, it was definitely one of the best phones ever.

Although the rubber on the joy stick removed due to rubbing of the joy stick but i replaced the rubber with an orange stone from a shirt i used to use and no more problems people tot it was a diamond so if u've had the sample problems now u know the solution anymore question just mail me [email protected]

if ur phone restarts simply back up ur sms, contacts, bookmarks and remove ur memeory card from the phone and run a master reset it would solve the problems and if u are still not satisfied with the results the delete some heavy memory consumption files from either games folder or application folder and ur phone would b perfect and always remember to leave free memory on the phone to run applications and games without problems i had one for over a year and sold it for a P990 not that the phone was bad i sold it bcos my brother got himself a w850i and my phone felt inferior so i got my self a P990i but in all i give the phone 9/10. the only thing i do not like about the phone is the fact that when u play videos it kind of pixellated apart from that it is the perfect phone even some java application i used to run on it does not play on my P990i. I used a 2GB memory card with mine and had no issues at all cos i had about 600 tracks and about 7 full length movies and so people used to get jealous. Anyone considering this phone can buy it, its a wonderful PHONE

to dirk, sorry 4 late reply. was busy. so since this operation involves modifying the system files of the mobile, there is a risk your fone can be dead if and only if you dont know what you are doing. so you need to back up your system file(GDFS) by XS++. then if u've done something wrong you cam always restore your fone from the back up. i can show you how this can be done but i take no responsibilty for what your r doing with your fone.

dirk, to increase the sms storage capacity you need to install "Far Manager" and some usb drivers. then you need to edit some system files on the mobile. and u can store upto 30000 sms

Thats what it is absolutely ugly but it works as a dream no restarting when dropped no screen cracks no distortion only problem is the volume it is too low on the speaker and low on the earpiece.I must have dropped it atleast 100 times and if any seafarer there they will know what is bay of biscay and during rolling in my watch left it on the port hole when i came back found it on the floor rolling b/h to b/h i was absolutely shocked to find it still working fine w/o any damage and am still using it w/o prob. Planning to c/o to w960i when it is launched but will miss this baby.

My very good friend got this phone a while back, so I got to play with it. It is almost a spiritual successor of my horrid T610. S.E. seemed to have fixed some of there previous issues as the quality of this one is detailed enough so that the scroll wheel and buttons dont stick. However, the screen, processor speed, and camera are still sub-standard to most Nokia. The exterior is nice, but owners have to make sure it does not get scratched. Overall, its only an ok phone, not great.

I'm from the caribbean and ive had this phone for over a year now and ive ran into alot of problems with this mobile. Firstly, after constant usage the rubber pulp on the joystick falls-out and the phone constantly "restarts" by itself.The speaker is terrible. But on the other hand, its a good phone to use for music.

I have been an owner of this phone since the first day it was available. I wanted to share my opinion of it before I sadly get rid of it for the new SE K850i. The best thing that can be said about this phone is it is absolutely SOLID! Solid in terms of firmware, functionality, speed, options, and all-around usage. I have had this for over two years now with very heavy use including dropping it about 50 times. Besides some scuffs and scratches it performs without fail as it did the first day I used it. Along with the 50 times I've dropped it, believe it or not it has even been run over by a car... STILL WORKS!! The battery is original and charges fine every time. The joystick still works flawlessly. There is only one bad thing I can think to say about it and that is the volume. It is not very loud, neither the ear speaker nor the loud speaker. All aside it is a minor setback. To summarize, anyone who is looking to purchase a phone that has current technology and is up to date both in styling and functionality, but does not want to spend a lot of money, this IS the phone for you. I will be sad to stop using it, but I will definitely keep it as a backup.

Hi everyone, my phone has absolutely horrible battery life, probably 1/3 of the life I got with my z710i, and it is with similar use. Does anyone have suggestions to help me improve my battery life? I don't even have 1 day standby and this is a new battery. i decreased the screen brightness, thats all i could find. I also switched to a pro duo card that i suspect is fake and the battery life seems even less. Would that make a difference? Please email any suggestions you have to me. Thanks!

bizarre.. my phone's camera beep and shutter sound is turned off when my phone is on silent. there are unfortuantly some good/bad points abou this phone. the most annoying is the joystick, sometimes the 4 directions do not respond when you move the joystick in a direction .. but then it works after a while and another side malfunctions..:S probably because this phone is over a year old. although the joystick is failing, the battery is still in fantastic order. i havn't replaced my battery since i got the phone and it still lasts very long per charge. overall, if i was to get another phone, i wouldnt get one with a joystick. too much hassle. i would get something like the W810.

yes, the camera cover opens accidentaly when you put it in a very tightjeans, but it doesn`t take any pictures. I have thins phone for a year and a half... it`s a good phone, great earphones, pretty fast. I recomend it to everyone.

Great Phone.... There's no BASS in 6233 when compared to W800, n the headsets supplied with the W800 are even better then most N-series ME phones..... and unlike 6233's cam, its AUTOFOCUS+MACRO MODE enabled too... SO thumps UP 4 w800.

Hi ppl's, for whoever posted the comment on what to do if u drop ur mobile in water: Ur best bet would be to immideatley take out the battery ,and place to dry for a few days till TOTALLY DRY and NOT BEFORE!!! then u can place ur battery back in and it should hopefully start working properly again... tho some discolourations ecc.. in screen coul be apparent :( Pls note that if u drop in salt water (ex: sea , ecc...) rinse ur mobile thouroughly in fresh water (Yes completley dunk ur mobile in water again lol!!!) this is because if salt is left on ur mobile mainboard ecc.. this could be MUUUUUUUUCH more harmful than just water :(, after rinsing just dry out as stated before... GL ppl if u need any help on this jus email me: [email protected] Alredy done it on quite a few mobiles and had quite satisfacatory results ;D

i've had this phone for maybe 2 yrs now..it died on me TWICE, first time it just flash a white screen when i turn on, and that's all i see..then 2nd time it won't even turn on...and in between, the phone will freeze, i couldn't add music to my playlist by folder, i had to add the songs one by one..in general, i'm not too happy with sony ericsson's phone(s)

This phone was the worst desision I have ever made!!! I purchased it on the specs of the phone:- Battery Life, storage, Camera. I have had only problems with it:- It changes it's ring tone by it's self, Turns the sound off, The joy stick only lasted 6 months, and the camera has stopped working. The only good thing is the storage came with a 512 mg card. DO NOT BY ONE!!!

i've been using this phone for over a year with the newest firmware on it. minor problems that aren't too bad are stuff like the camera just turning on sometimes (from the shutter slightly opening in my pocket), and the rubber orange thing on the joystick came off ages ago (makes games kinda annoying). in terms of use, the phone is GREAT. this is prob the best phone i've had to date, and look forward to the w960 in Q4 of this year. the shutter on the w800i's cam is great, keeping scratches and crap from screwing up the lens. autofocus, flash, burst mode, and various great cam features made me happy over the many months of use. picture quality is great although in low light there is some graininess and minor distortion. what do you expect? it is after all, a phone. mp3 playback is great and the little external speaker is quite good for what it is. i've had the pleasure of annoying countless people with playing music on the speaker.

Just upgraded from W800 to W850i. W850i the better walkman and bigr memory. However W850i bit fatter and camera not focusing well. W850i has sharper screen but buttons stiff, will maybe loosen up later.

i did a lot of surfing on the web for like hours and hours what was the best phone overall...by brand i found out nokia and sony ericsson.if you want a phone without having any problems with software/casing changing colour after continous use(wear)/money(nokia has the most expensive phones) go for nokia BUT if you like listening to music and so now and then take pictures SONY ERICSSON is by far the best.after searching for a good sony ericsson i found that the first Walkman phone(W800i) has a superb sound quality(even better then Ipod), a outstanding camera(2.0MP,4x optical zoom) for making photos specially with the optional MXE-60 camera flash, great display, sweet battery talk time/standby time and above all nice user interface; a big disadvantage is its video quality is low but what do you expect its a phone u cant hav everything above that i wont be spending much time making video clips with my fone...SO i chose for the Sony Ericsson W800i special edition as soon as i hav my phone im thinking of bying the MXE-60 detachable camera flash and W800i DOCK for my W800i SPECIAL EDITION(ow yeahhh) Sony Ericsson ROCKSSSSSS :p:D:D

Good Phone been using it for 13 months now and i hav few complaints 1. screen is grainy when in fullscreen mode while playin videos 2. deleting a game from the games folder makes the phone reboot but from application folder is ok so if i want to delete anything i simply move to application folder and delete 3. i put in a 32mb card in the phone and the performanced dropped so do not put any card less than 512mb in the phone if u want to enjoy the usability of the phone. 4. camera is excellent even in a pitch dark room. although sligthly grainy but superior to other led flash cameras by far. 5. walkman player is perfect just that fastforward is not as fast as later models. Overall good phone i love the phone wanted to trade it for a p990i or w950i but id rather add them to my collection instead of trading

changed from w550 to w800. got to say, w800 is superior to w550 in almost every aspects. Very happy with it. But after using for few months, i realize 2 major flaws in the w800. first, it cannot 'copy and paste' text like the w550. second, it hangs quite often when you try to zoom into pictures, almost as often as once every 30 times. So guys, am i the only one experiencing this? is there a way to solve it? some advice or comments will be nice. Thanks

I've been using this phone for a year now... i can say that it's a verygood phone. Pros: The camera is great, It's 2mp resolution is still one of the best, compared to new 2mp phones. The 512mb memory is enough for all your needed memory space. The size is very good, its small and can easily fit in your pocket. The sound from speaker or earphone is very good as well. Last but not the least, the phone is built well no bugs or hang ups. Con: The orange thing from the joystick usually become loose and without the owner's knowledge, be lost. But the joystick can be used without it so no big problem with this one. Sometimes though, i miss the d-pad of my s700 phone. It's really easier to use compared to the joystick. But as what everybody says, nothing is perfect but my W800 is really close to being one.

Got this phone for about a year, don't have much complaints but a few points to consider: I dropped it three times by accident on hard ground and it chipped a little bit of the white plastic. Taking photos in high quality, you gotta wait a slight while till it captures the image so hold your hands still and steady. I keep putting my phone down on desks with the back down and the mirror at the back got scratched and you can't really use it anymore. Back removable panel for the battery is a little bit wobbly and loose over time. Screen slightly scratched but that happens on most phones. That's it, overall a good phone with lots of features, it's been available for a while but it's still rivaling a few other new phones out there. Sony Ericsson has a lovely user interface, very easy to use, will last a long while yet. Enjoy your phone! :)

Removing the battery of W800 is not very hard. Just remove battery cover and simply press the battery towards the upper side of the phone [the phone's ON/OFF button end]. Then it automatically released from the phone.

If you care about music then Nokia N73 music edition is better. But its music playing menu/software/options is not so much customizable like W800i. The headset sound quality is very good, also in the handsfree mode.

Since I had W800 two years ago, I have had 4 other cellphones, namely W550, W850, K750, and W810. But nothing can beat W800! Not even W810 which supposedly has the came kind of camera as W800. The pictures taken with W800 are really crisp and clear. The camera of W810 sucks because when the background is bright, the object becomes dark and you see glaring white cast behind the subject. W850 camera, I can't even describe how bad it is. The video is pixilated and makes you feel like watching a video using an aquarium! The amounts of pixels are reduced as well. So, I always comeback to this little gem. W800, you rock!!!!!! 2 years have passed and you're still going strong!

to lewet... to install apps on the W800, just copy the file on the memory card directly... no need to use file manager... you will then find it in the "OTHERS" folder in "FILE MANAGER" move it to its coresponding folder (eg. THEMES, GAMES, etc..) and the app will be installed...

I've lost ma phone(W800i) a few dayz back and trust me i cant find anything to replace it..it has somethings like these which similar SE phones in the same range dont have: ..a great camera ( 1632x1224 pixels, autofocus ) ..amazin music quality(the output is low but the ear phones does the trick) ..MP3 player ( up to 30h playback ) ..9 hr takl time ..34 MB shared memory however one think i hated bout this was whn i used to talk on the handsfree...maan its tooo noisy on the other end(mic without a good filter i guess)...is that the problem with most of the SE phones??

i do not prefere china phone, most of their phone is low in quality, it might hav a deffects...i dont trust their phone. a lot of pirated gadgets u can see in china, most of theme u cannot identify easily which is original or the fake one....so people, plzz be careful in buying ur phone, go to the genuine SE phones.

@ mac: "MP3/AAC player, up to 30h playback if the phone is switched off" This phone has 2 modes when you first turn it on. One is the normal and the other turns off the phone's arial so you can listen to ur music whilst on a plane or in a hospital (places where they forbid mobile phone's radiation). The later mode saves battery as its not powering an arial :) hope this helps. overall, best phone iv had EVER, and i work in a phone shop. IPhone's on my wishlist :p

to chris, same thing happened here... the rubber thingy on my phone came off as well... :D not a big deal though, still happy with it... the only drawback now is that i need to scroll with my fingernail...

Notice the orange rubber on the joystick? Mine came off in just about half a year. I realized that if you use your nails too much instead of fingertip to move the joystick, the rubber cracks and peeled off. It shows that the rubber tip is not too durable so new users do be careful.

Had this one for 12+ months; a brilliant product. At my most extensive usage ever, battery still lasted 4 days. (Hard to see how someone isn�t satisfied). Cord of the HPM-70 stereo phones isn�t very durable, but take good care and the sound quality is magnificent. 2MP camera and 512MB space is more than enough�LED diode is extremely handy. I left it On once for 3+ hours, only took about 10% of battery, despite its strength.

ur right!!! this phone is the best i've ever had.! the battery is great, it takes more than 300 shots 4 me using the camera, and only 10% of the bat is lost. unlike my cnventional digital camera, the battery is so low.

I'm disappointed with curtis' opinion re the w800i. For anyone considering the phone please note I have had the phone for 18 months and with moderate phonecalls an hour or two a day and several texts a day the battery lasts me approx 4 entire days. Yes if you play music the battery life drops but this would be the same for any device!

First, this phone lasts 24hrs, and no where near the 400hrs stated! as soon as you use the music player your battery drops by 5-10%. simply the worst battery life of any phone ive ever had. I also find that even when you delete songs they continually return to the walkman player! Far too slow in general. Not the best sony ericsson by a long way!

soe games of nokia phone are compatible w/ w800, i try it already... u can download free games in www.mobile9.com, a lot of nice 3d games u can choose, use mozilla firefox in downloading, it doesnt work in internet explorer sometimes.

34mb is the internal memory, im using 256mb in my w800, approximately I manage to load up to 70 songs, depending on the size of the song. usually 4mb. using 1gigabyte may load up to 250 songs...i guese.

I bought this phone in Sept 2005. Within the 1st year warranty period, I have it repaired for 4-6 times, each time with a new problem, like auto-switching to camera mode, no sound, no vibration. Outside the warranty period for 2 months, new problem is flash by it's own. The Co. request for a repairing fee. I won't be a user for Sony Ericsson any more!

the camera is so impressive,w/ crispness and clarity, same with the 2egapixel cybershot...the only problem with the camera 8 doesnt have fast shatter speed. when u move while shoting, 8 makes the pic blurry. the video is pixelated, but good in zooming function. i like the megabass of is phone...one thing i hate in my phone is its joistick!!! 8s hard to navigate due to dust.

I bought this phone when it first came out, so I've been using it for more than a year now. It's just been an extremely wondering and darling phone to use. It's well rounded, very capable, and does everything I want and need; so even though it's old I don't feel it's lacking at all. It's very user-friendly and flexible. I've also dropped it (even while walking) quite a few times and it survived brilliantly with only a few tiny scratches. And to answer the question earlier, it does have flight mode.

I experienced the freezing problem @ d initial stage but not again after formating n upgrading d memory stick. I wish that the battery life is improved to take care of MP3 play time from phone direct. W800i is indeed a walkman. Go for it n make sure u buy original brand.

Well what can i say! ive got this phone and its really good, apart from the design of the handset. The sound and picture quality is very good. I had the K750i and i had to charge it atleast twice a day. With the w800 all i do is charge it once and it lasts me all day. Iam always on the mp3 before and after work. My overall to this phone is 95%

I've had this phone for just over a year now and I still love it! The little orange joystick rubber hasn't fallen out (fingers crossed it won't). All you have to do to make sure it doesn't fall apart and have electronic freak outs is to love it enough not to throw it around and to always carry out regular software updates...

i cannot believe the amount of good comments about this phone i had three replacement phones and gave up trying was under contract and got fed up with company saying we'll fix it, worst phone i've ever had turns itself off randomly, sound dissapears when you answer phone so all there is is silence, turns itself onto silent mode, joystick select and up functions never work, amber thing on joystick does fall off i've finally finished my year and can upgrade and have never been happier to change phones i do not know one person who has not had trouble with this or the k750. i wouldnt take a sony ericson for free, think i'll go for a motorola, from experience they're much less hassle.

i bought this phone one year ago. the major problem accured on the camera cover. the phone on the camera automatically eventhought the cover was closed. until now, no one can figure out what had happend. other than this, i also feel the talking/mp3 hour for this phone is short. storage for inbox message is very limited, always show message full warning. video time also very limited, only 1 minute. can someone tell me why? The problem I'm having is that "my Phone has refuse to on, when I switch it off to change SIM Card." I took it to ROYLLINE TECHNOLOGIES LTD, at Uyo in Akwa Ibom State since that's where is closer to me. They say "The Phone has Software problem and it needs to be Flash from a Computer." I refuse that cos my files will all get erased and the Phone will function again OR the Phone get damage for Life. I later took it to Calabar in Cross River State; the Technician says "It's Power IC and CPU problem." After giving him Days to fix it, he now inform me that he as try brand new Power IC and CPU, but to his surprise the phone just refuses to work. To him, the phone is okay but he can't just place the problem. When the Phone's switch on, the screen will just light up and goes blank. Nothing to display. I'M REALLY CONFUSED AND I NEED HELP SOON BEFORE SOMEONE GET MY PHONE SPOIL BY TRYING TO REPAIR IT. WORST, THERE'S NO SONY ERICSSON CUSTOMER CENTRE CLOSE BY ME THAT I'M AWARE OF. I have used W700i and K750i currently using W810i which I think is the best among the 3, well if you want a walkman functions go for W800i or W700i, W800i has autofocus while W700i doesnt hav, both take good pix though and nice mp3 player. cheeeeeeeeers

There were 2 problems was that the rubber orange thing on the joystick fell off and when i put some new songs on and went to the walkmode and clicked on tr4acks and clicked ona a new track the phone would restart itself and come back on again. If u have any problems like this is to either get the phone flashed or delete the songs and put them back on again. but overall the phone was brilliant.

I've had quite a few Sony Ericsson phones in my time and i have always been pleased with them. I wasnt going to get this handset as i had my sights set on the Nokia N91, but since the release date was set back in the UK and i was in need of an upgrade I liked the look of this and went for it! And i was pleasantly surprised. It has all the little features that u can think of (long texts, T9, MMS, speaker phone, flash, calendar, alarm etc etc) and all the major ones too (512 Mem card, bluetooth, infrared, 2 Megapix Camera, Video) and not to mention the awesome walkman features and the sound quality that comes from it. U cannot go wrong with this phone. The W850i is now released here in the uk and it looks as though it's gonna be another hit too!!

i don't like the speakers or headset. hurts my ears and can't hear well. if you want to get this phone, i think you should get the k800 then. that phone holds 1GB memory and clear on both speakers and bluetooth. the welcome screen is much prettier and so does the camera/videos :)

ya the joy stick kinda sucks, its not that good. but it will work properly when u give the phone some rest, and that's what i did to make it better. also, dont use the phone for about 1-2 days like not using the joy stick

Hi ive had the w800i for about 1year. Its a great phone. the camera is brilliant for a phone but when u zoom in the pictures gets pixilated but the walkman feature is brilliant but the problems i had was the joy stick. The orange rubber thing in the middle of the joystick came of and cant get a replace ment and i had trouble with the software so be worn plus mine is in mint condition because i kept a plastic case on it and ive still got the orginal clear sticker on the screen.

Fantastic fone i jus got it really loud.Tip : to make even louder go on walkman then the equaliser put the first two bars to the top and the 3rd one until the colour is yellow and the rest to the top sound even louder!!!!!!! one problem when i did get this phone the SanDisk mem card didnt work so i got a new one always get a SONY mem card the SanDisk ones usually break and they cost �10 to get a new one from the company where they are made. The camera is fantastic. Best SE phone ever this is better than w810i because w810i is much quiter. I recommend anyone to buy it you will be amazed i have had it for a 2 weeks just love it

I have been using this phone since an year and the only problems which appear from my side for this phone are ... 1. the orange thingy on the joystick falls off after few weeks/months usage. 2. the joystick becomes hard and there is always chance of the joystick to give problems.. most of my sonyericsson sets joysticks get ruined. 3. it restarts alot ... 4. camera is slow, camera sound comes first and then picture is taken .. usually pics come blurred. 5. If u connect to computer then some files get copied and some dont. And sometimes after removing from computer the memory gets formatted automaticallly. I have been using this phonesince an year but still to tell u the truth .. I love this phone .. its got all the things i need .. some problems are there .. but still a great phone ... I dont regret buyin it

I had this phone for more than a year.. and planned to keep this phone for a much longer time.. sad part is it got stolen! jeez.. but this was the best phone I ever had! and I'm planning to buy another one! [or at least another walkman phone..] It takes great pictures! better than first few nokia Nseries.. it doesn't freeze[well, not much]. very user friendly. easy to transfer files from pc to phone and other way around. my joystick didn't have problems except for the orange thingy that slipped off.. sounds were great! though speakers were not loud enough, I enjoyed it thru my earphones.. 512mb free mem card was enough for me.. I can put around 400+ songs already in it by changing quality in my pc, but when transferred to my phone, it still sounds great! or I had 300+ songs and it still had enough for 100+ games!!! my boyfriend bought w810 and I found my w800i much easier to use, specially in file manager part... all in all this phone is awesome! PICTURES, SOUNDS, GAMES, MESSAGING, DOWNLOADS, and even the DESIGN. really the best phone! should be about 98%!!!! ;p

I have bought the phone in augist 2005. About three months ago its joistick has started to move very hard up and down. the phone started to work very slow. The phone did not define the callers name from the phonebook. THere were some other problems until it shut off two days ago complitely. Anyone knows what is the problem?

Re christian Here is a list of differences: W800: TRI-BAND, internal memeory 34MB, memeory stick upgrade to 2GB, dimensions = 100 x 46 x 20.5 mm W810: QUAD-BAND, internal memeory 20MB, memory stick upgrade to 4GB, dimensions = 100 x 46 x 19.5 mm, have mega-bass function All others; camera, weight, display, etc. are the same. So basically, you can say that the W810 is a better phone.

can anyone recommend a program to convert wma files to 3GP? At the moment I am using Nokia Multimedia Converter 2.0 but there are a few music video files I have that it says are not supported. Of the twenty ish I had, only three were supported. I think it is WMA files that are the problem. I've had my W800i for almost a year [i bought it 10 Jan this year] & this is my first time using Sony Ericsson. This thing is absolutely awesome,never hanged [well, one or twice but never as frequent as the one I used to hav, N3230], still very responsive, the sound is amazing, pictures are great [even for posting in my blog], sending MMS is quick, this phone is actually a magic :) but only 1 thing bugs me, when we try 2 find names in contacts, we can't simply find the name with two first alphabets, eg: When I try 2 find Mary, all I can do is press MNO keypad instead of pressing M and A, so it took longer to get there. Another thing, this seri doesn't have facility 2 find out duration of our calls, just the time when calls were made. Above all, this thing is nothing but EXCELLENCE.. Cheers!!

This phone simply rocks... I've had it for 6 months now with little troubles. I have a 4GB Memory Stick and it is the best!! I have well over 700 songs, 75 videos (5 full length movies) and still have enough memory to take a lot of pics. For those who don't know, you have to resize the video to 176x144 pixels for it to be viewable on the phone. The drawback is when there is a lot of action it will freeze for a while and then catch up. You may want to record it at an even lower resolution (it is possible). Overall, very happy with it and I plan to get the k790 which is similar but has a 3.2 megapixel camera!

Hicham, I am assuming the music is on the memory STICK DUO PRO and that the music file is either MP3, ACC, WAV (note: not all wav can play) Try this: (1) Turn off phone, (2) remove your memory stick, (3) Turn on without memory and choose start phone (make sure it is highlighted yellow), (4) Play any ringtone and confirm there is sound, (5) Turn off phone, (6) Insert memory, (7) Turn on and choose start phone (make sure it is highlighted yellow) give a minute before pressing any key (8) try playing the music Let me know the result and also if problem persists let me know how u transfer music to your phone

I've had the w800 for about 6 months and up until recently it's been a mess. I love the size, the camera, and the features. What has made me regret this mobile is the firmware. My mobile kept freezing when switching apps. and when I would recharge it, it wouldn't ring unless I turned the mobile off then on. If this is happening to you, download the newest firmware from SonyEricsson website. You'll need a comm. cable. Ever since I did this I love my mobile again.

A good phone. Excellent pictures and sound but occassionally hangs. Sometime loses sound and hangs when alternating between silent and normal modes. Would be nice if the radio worked without the headphones as an aerial via the speaker.

In order to play Video Music or Video, you should have convert video files to MP4 or 3gp extension. Then, transfer video files to Media/video folder in the memory stick through the software came with the phone. If you copy file from computer direct to memory stick through card reader. This phone is fantastic, with a 2Gb card it's better than an ipod and last twice as long, The camera is great for a 2Mp, stores alot of SMS, the only thing that lets it down was the fact it would wipe the music of itself if you used the usb cable to add music. Just get a memory card reader "Sorted"

Edel... No offence... U can change the file name only after you tranfer those pictures of your to another folder... It means that your pic must not be in the "camear picture" folder.

The thing that annoys me though is that you can't name your pictures, oh & it does sometimes turn itself on & off but I guess that's to be expected when you drop it daily! ha. I had this phone for 3 months and it died on me. The phone wouldn't charge anymore. I've tried changing to a new battery and using a brand new cord/cable. Nothing works. So I have to return the phone back to my dealer/SE for repair. And it has been over 6 weeks. They still haven't send me my phone back. Very disappointed!!

well i have found the w800i music capability to be fantastic like thass' awareness and ability. although a slight problem is the d900 is not a music phone as it is a pretender like shibb pretends to play football. the music like shibb is wanting more effort. the camera shines on the handset but it needs to prove itself like how shibb and milner team up against thass only then can they attempt to challenge him.

I just got my SE W800i as a gift from my dad and I totally love it!! The best thing I like about the phone is its appearence - the deep metallic orange looks even better in real life than on a computer screen. And its features are awesome...as a total music freak, it's just perfect for me. to ADRIAN WOW... they are not the same.. W810 has a better display.. with more vivid colours... But better displays requires more energy... as a result, the battery of the W800 lasts longer... The Specifications says the display are the same.. but this is not exact.. For example, compare the E398's(now known as E1) display (according to specs, 65K colours) with the 265K colours of the W800... You won't believe me but the E398 colours are more vivid, bright and attractive... image looks much better... But anyway... W800 have been discontinued...

The W800 is a K750 with much better earphones and a 512Mb memory. In a more trendy shell with lots of WALKMAN logo printed on it... But howerer, i've noticed that the speaker of the w800 are louder... I'm happy to be a w800 owner... Nice Phone...

i have this phone for 3 months and i do not have any problem with it.the handsfree phones are excelent and they give have a magnific sound.the photos ar great,you can compare them with a profesional camera photos.i'm very pleased with this phone.buy it if you have the chance,if not buy a w810i.it is the same.

To rachel, No offence, ok... But, LG phones is only good gor looks.I got a friend of mine owned the LG KG800. From what I heard from him, Its UI is rather slow, but still acceptable... Mp3 s only on the moderate level... No card slot... Super laggy camera... Horrible video player... But rather good for conversation level... A bit annoying for typing sms as the whole message cancelled once u accidentally touch the "C" button... And u named it...dust, fingerprint and whatever sticks to the so-called touch panel surface.... If u like glossy slide phone so much, check only samsung E900 then... Plz note... this is only my friend feedback... On the other hand, I would say w800 is syill the better choice. Yet, the choice is yours.

I have my W800 for about 6months now and it hasnt given me any problems,given it has falen from me 6 times!! If the fone is restarting on its own, u need to update is software by going onto www.sonyericsson.com. It is sure to work for u!! Enjoy

HI! I've had my phone for almost a year now, however, I'm running into a problem. I'm trying to connect via Bluetooth w/other phones at the office, however, when I'm having an incoming file, no matter what it is (picture, note, audio file etc) I don�t get the other Phone's Bluetooth name that's sending the file. I've seen Nokia phones DO show this, but is there a problem w/my W800 or is it just SE phones that don�t have this cappability? Hope anyone can answer. thanks!

dont buy this phone itz a rip off first the phone freezes up often maybe 2-3 times a day. bluetooth conection is poor. it turns on and off by itself sometimes. i really dont like the color.

well i cant use the disc to phone because it keeps on saying the usb attached to my computer has malfunctioned, and my phone blinks sometimes like every hour it will blink like it has circuit problem in it, i would also like to register my phone online but i dont know how to because when i try its not registering my phone so that i can actuallly obtain a warranty. please i really would like to hear how to set up the disc to phone so that it stops malfunctioning

Using this phone since mac, almost 7 month know. the "control stick" start to have slower reactions, it's true i think W800 user have to becarefull using it. other than that it a great phone, after updating it's firmware the speakers can play song louder (some comment before it's not loud enough. Batteries are ok, max can last for 3 days >. no ploblems for theme and ring tones lots of them on the net, picture are great! want to see what happen to it affter a year of used.

i like everything about the phone but the sound quality leaves a lot of room for improvement... I wish it could play lossless format like lossless AAC // And the moment you turn on the walkman feature theres a hissing sound in the background and the music is accompanied by noise in the background.. And at low volumes (like late night listening) u got a lot of hissing sound in the background, thats a big turn off for this phone.. Sony!! are you listening??? Been using this phone for 10 months now..Just becoz of this phone I bought Senheisser CX300 in earplug, but I think I need to go for standalone MP3 Player, this walkman turned my ear down...

I bought this handphone 6 months ago.Everything going well except 4 the battery.My phone battery didn't even last 2 days on standby even when i'm not using it.That is far from the claimed 400 hours of standby time. I complained this to the distributor in my are and they gladly change my battery FOC, but still the new battery won't last more tha 2 days. really good phone the sound is quite good but can be louder by tweaking the equaliser to MAX. Not stylish but on a level i dont give a damn anyway. it just has to be a good phone and it is so im happy. currently have the e720 no where near as good as this phone but alright all the same. cant wait to get this phone off my dad lol.

I've bad english.. I've had this phone 5 months ago...It was a really great phone. But i have a problem that's the camera light. It's too bright when I was taking a picture of myself in a low light area.. I hurts my eye. I probally sugest if the w800 camera light can just have a quick flash. But one day, when i was switching on the light(not in camera mode),the light blink and suddenly it went off.. I went to the camera mode and switched on the light...The light icon shows its on but there is no light showing up..I took a picture and there is a light showing up. There is no low light and just only the brighter one showing up.I like that but one bad thing thats there is no light for normal use.At last I have to send my w800 to the repair centre and get my low light back...

i love my w800, but here are some problems i have experienced with it: 1. the battery life. it lasts only for two days if i don't use the walkman or the radio, and less than a day if i listen to it. and hello, this is supposed to be a walkman. 2. everytime i download music files into my phone, a problem occurs. it's either the download process didn't work or only some of the mp3 files were downloaded. 3. sometimes when i download music the phone mysteriously shuts off and then restarts again. can anybody help me with these problems?? i love my phone, but it's only been a week since i bought it and it already has flaws.

Hey people, I have had the w800i for about 1year, at the start not a single problem.. slowly with time it starts playing up. I have another 3 friends who are experiencing the same problems as ive had myself. I have upgraded to the w810i and have had that for a while now.. touch wood not 1 little problem at all til now. The main problem on the w800i was the joystick! I was thinking of getting a k800i but dont want to go thru the same things i had with the w800i, the w800i prob is a little bit louder then the w810i on loud speaker.. but the w810i is surely a winner overall. Its just the upgraded version of a w800i :) doesnt really take a genious to figure that one out. so if ur not sure about the w800/w810i.. i recommend you dont think twice about the w810i.

But I have a 2 problems : 1. when I connect W800i to my PC,told me that USB doesn't recognized. 2. when I hear my phone speaker at max level of volume (in Walkman & file manager),I hear some cracks in some mp3-files. About the photos or pictures UPLOADED from PC to Phone... there are lots of compression of pics from net or others... therefore... you need to set it to the compression that the phone recognizes... i've verified this... and the simplest way to do that is... ta da: you need to open Paint... open the file... and Save it again... i used save as... then overwrite... i dunno if pressing Save only will work... well... another factor to be considered is: ratio of height to width... i have a pic and it is very rectangular... i added white sides using photoshop: canvas size... so i have two files... before the save in paint... i uploaded the two... and none can be zoomed... i saved both in paint... then uploaded... the very rectangular can't be zoomed but i can zoom the one with the white sides... Well, bout the PANORAMA issue... i guess i will just do the same thing... hmm...

W800 is better than w810. both phone are the same the only difference is the EDGE of w810. w810 has no camera lens cover and do not have an eye-catching design. The design of W800 was alot more better than W810. W800 rulez. =)
