i bought this for gaming the docomo variant and turns out to be a great choice since fgo, mobile legends, nfs no limit are working quite brilliantly dunno bout pubg but fgo has loading issues and it lags sometimes on many android devices maybe because of processors? but except 2700mah battery that is quite low for me everything seems perfect in 79.69 usd. gonna try other games too soon will definitely leave a review again.

I dont recommend this one for gaming, but here's what I've been experienced in gaming with this device : -PUBG : stuttery, playable but better gonna be don't rely on this phone -Mobile Legends : Smooth, rarely frame drop, support high frame rate mode -Vain Glory : Smooth, but frame drop in the late game (as the phone getting hot) but trust me this one's not as hot as XZ -World Of Tanks Blitz : smooth with low setting, often frame drop at the highest setting -Darkness Rises : Smooth, but only have several frme drop when we activate the skill -Arena of Valor : Smooth, 40-60fps (not so stable) -Shadowgun Legends : Smooth at 30fps in lowest setting, I don't recommend it for ultra -ARK Mobile : I don't recommend this one to play it on your device

Had this phone for over an year. I find the wifi doesn't work as well as other phones and turning on the bluetooth seems to cause it to lock up. The biggest problem is this phone has very poor heat dissipation and gets super hot under load which causes it to throttle badly. I wouldn't buy another Sony again unless they are able to address the heat issues.

I got 3 hours screen on time with heavy usage (asphalt 9 and pubg) and can get to 4 hours screen time with moderate usage (social media, youtube). Can barely lasts a day with my usage. It is a high performance phone, hence the name, but battery is mediocre. If you're not going to use that extra performance in that phone, i'd suggest you buy other phone with better battery life.

Hey, coming back to this again, I now notice that it is just an X, not XA. I don't know what Sony marketed the X series as. Way back at the "beginning", there wasn't really such a thing as a flagship phone. It was either feature phone or smartphone. If this was marketed as a feature phone, I will say it is because of the "Performance" designation, and not because it is an X series. That's my *guess* anyways.

Lousy sony..Charlymagne Guerrero Lagarde: my Xperience with this phone less than a year is X..ip68 is lousy...after i took videos 1 meter under water for less than a minute, the phone is dead..the bad thing is the Kimstore Philippines did not take action for repair because Xperformance is not recognize in the Philippines..sony Philippine rejected my request for repair because the unit is alien here..again i demand a repair for sony's sake..but i think i'm going to pay the repair..i like xperia phones, infact this is my 2nd xperia and it fails me..i will not recommend sony anymore..it's just the feeling of good and bad and worst Xperience with this product...

In my opinion, XPERIA XZ is the better one. I own both the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE and XPERIA XZ, alongside with the rest of my Z and X series flagships, so I know what it's going on, here are my thoughts. The XPERIA X PERFORMANCE and XPERIA XZ are both high-end flagships that have minor differences in them. Display, chipset, RAM, and camera are the same, the difference lies in the camera software and battery. While both sport a 13MP front camera and a 23MP rear camera, the XPERIA XZ does it better. Object tracking is slightly better on the XPERIA XZ; it is much more responsive. And the rest of the camera is basically the same thing for both, almost no difference what so ever. Another reason why XPERIA XZ is better is because of 4K recording, the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE doesn't have it. Weird isn't it? Because it's one of the most important thing to have on a high-end flagship, and yet Sony removed it at that point of time. Battery life is better on the XPERIA XZ, but not by much, just a few mins longer, obviously. For thermal management it's about the same thing, but I feel like XPERIA X PERFORMANCE is slightly better in the thermals, it stays a little longer than the XPERIA XZ before starting to throttle. But as I said, just the XPERIA XZ

it can do slow motion video via camera app named timeshift, just swipe to the right inside camera and look for timeshift, not the super slow motion you can get on new models but gets the job done

I have already updated my current daily driver XPERIA XZ to ANDROID OREO for a few months already, with March Security Patch, whereas my other X series high-end flagships are running on ANDROID OREO too but some are on April Security Patch and some just got updated to May Security Patch recently, even the XPERIA XZ international version I bought from Amazon, which is the website I bought the Z and X series high-end flagships from. For me, I don't have any issues with ANDROID OREO on these smartphones, they all are working fine, no WiFi dropping which a lot have been discussing/complaining about, no lag etc. But, I cannot tell u if that is a guarantee on every smartphone other people have bought. Just like the previous sentence, some have WiFi dropping issues, touchscreen issues, overheating way more than it is expected to perform, just pray to yourself that, the one u bought doesn't have any issues on the hardware or software (I consider myself lucky because every of my smartphone I bought doesn't come with issues). Okay, u might be wondering "Wait, so u have 2 XPERIA XZ?" Yes, I have 2, one bought from Amazon which is where I buy the rest of the smartphones in my collection, and another one which I am using it right now to type and it is my current daily driver still is bought from my carrier. I bought it from my carrier because it is a total giveaway that time because I only have to pay for monthly bills which is very cheap without paying a single cent on the smartphone itself, whereas some u have to pay $100 or more for other smartphones and pay the same amount for monthly bills. The good thing about it is the price of course like what I said, but the bad thing is that the software updates are slower than the Z and X series smartphones I bought from Amazon, which are international variants. Expected, since for carriers software updates have to go through them first to see if they can allow it to be commenced on that model, which takes like weeks or even months, that is why my current one is receiving software updates slower by 2. And also, if u are buying Sony smartphones which I guarantee u are right now lol, subscribe to XPERIA HOME BETA in Google+, to keep your home launcher updated as possible, it can be even newer than the preinstalled version of the launcher example my XPERIA XZ2 which is the most recent Sony smartphone I bought, but is the one that turns me away the most because of the design. I'm really surprised that u are a 10 year old, because u sound mature and I thought I am the only one here who have a great interest in technology at a young age with rich information, but it seems like there are some like u who learn it a year earlier (Yes, I starting learning technology since I was 11, now I already am a tech junkie at the age of 15). I guess u could consider yourself tech enthusiast or tech junkie too? I will definitely prefer XPERIA XZ over the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE most of the time, even though it heats up more than the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE after a few minutes of playing games with intensive graphics. Because, there are some key points of it that is better than the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE, even others would say that. The camera is one of them. Packed with identical hardware, the XPERIA XZ have 4K video recording, whereas the latter does not, along the the bigger 2900mAh battery, a 200mAh bump from the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE. Lastly the price of both of these probably is cheap enough for u, if it is cheap u might as well get the better one am I right? So yeah, I really do prefer the XPERIA XZ

In fact, XPERIA XZ is my daily driver and the one I'm using to type to u now. It is great, performance is no different from my XPERIA X PERFORMANCE. But, the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE does not heat up as hot as the XPERIA XZ. Prefer the XPERIA X PERFORMANCE more though to be honest, but if u are into some 2018 game titles like PUBG for example, these smartphones aren't powerful enough to play those. It is still playable, but it lags which made the smartphone heat up. These 2018 game titles require a much more powerful chipset, like the SNAPDRAGON 845, and a much faster storage type, UFS 2.1, to help in rendering the game faster. How it will help in rendering? Well, before the chipset's GPU start to render, it have to go through reading and writing the data. So, the faster it is, the faster your graphics can be rendered. These 2 smartphones have eMMC 5.1, which is 3 times less powerful than the UFS 2.1 if u did use benchmarks like AndroBench that I used to compare the storage speeds. So, if u were to play those game titles, get at least the XPERIA XZ PREMIUM, SNAPDRAGON 835 is powerful enough to play these game titles. If not, then both of the choices u made would be applicable for your type of use. And also, me and Yasser are different people, we aren't the same user. The ip address is different, plus besides I wouldn't even think of creating a 2nd account , I just want to be original :)

Yes it is still working well, no problems, but do note that the speakers will sound muffled after coming up from the swimming pool because I fully submerged it, so it will take time for the smartphone internal openings to dry up. I recommend u to only allow the smartphone being splashed, and not submerged, I told this to a lot of people here already, even my friends in real life. Even if u have a IP68 rating for your smartphone, do not ever submerge in water, it is not guaranteed that u will be 100% immune to watee damaging the internals, because every product a brand makes is not 100% perfect. They look identical from the outside, but it may be different from the inside. Some may have the parts not sealed properly, which is why I stressed the fact of submerging it in water a lot of times to people. Most smartphones should still work well with splashes even without the IP68 rating, but for submerging in water both types of smartphones aren't recommended, I heard some complaints here because of that, they think that having the IP68 u will be 100% immune to water, hence I hope that any people I encounter would not go that road and would listen to what I say about the IP68 rating

Camera is somewhat the same, this applies to all my Z and X series high-end flagships, the main difference is performance and battery improvements. My XPERIA X PERFORMANCE on ANDROID 8.0.0 have improved a lot; a slightly faster and snappier performance, better multitasking and also, better battery life, it is just overall much more efficient than the version it first came

For low-light I don't really say it is the best, it struggles with a lot of noise because it is using a 23MP camera. I always use Manual Mode for low-light, it takes better photos thanks to the tweaking but, the noise is still there. If u got a tripod, Superior Auto will work best and it will take way better photos than u holding it, with the presence of low noise. I don't recommend taking it to a swimming pool, I have tried it before but only a few times. Even with the IP68 rating, problems may occur, because it is just a rating regarding how well the smartphone is sealed, but not all of the packages is 100% the same, some may have defects or poorly sealed, u never know, that is why u shouldn't do it. Performance is excellent in most games for me, car games and FPS games usually fall between 30fps-40fps, but I don't recommend SNAPDRAGON 820/SNAPDRAGON 821 smartphones for some heavy demand game like PUBG Mobile, because it is falling behind in these kind of games, and from the reference of scoring 3600 average in GeekBench 4. Battery life on this thing have improved a lot since my experience on ANDROID 6.0.1, mainly because I have updated to ANDROID 8.0.0, 6 hours of moderate use, able to last u from 7am-7pm moat of the time

3GB RAM is already adequate, but 4GB RAM is a more adequate amount for decent multitasking. Good question u asked about why is there a need to have such overkill amount of memory in a smartphone. Apps don't consume that much RAM in a smartphone, but it is to have more future-proofing that will benefit for a person who don't buy high-end flagships every year unlike me. Yes apps won't consume that much RAM in a smartphone, but have u ever thought about those apps what will happen to them in the future? Applications at the start won't consume that much RAM, but as time goes, slowly the amount of RAM consumed will increase, this is indeed true and also being observed. Do u realize that apps now are consuming way more RAM than a few years ago? Typical apps like Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat etc from my observance (Since I use them) consume RAM way more than how much they consume a few years back. Second reason for a overkill amount of RAM like 6GB or 8GB is for the price. Not trying to nit pick at things, 3GB RAM for me is already satisfying, but adding 6GB or 8GB of RAM for its price would already be a selling point, a part of a smartphone's specifications that surpasses others with somewhat the same price. For the camera, I'm not sure what the heck u are talking about, there is no such thing as 1/2, unless u are referring to the either one; F1/2.3 which is the sensor size or F2.0 for the aperture. No problems with the sensor size, they have the biggest sensors for their high-end flagships, but for the F2.0 aperture yeah they should at least give it a F1.8, but what is better that I really hope they can do it is variable aperture ranging from F1.5 to F2.5, that will help in low-light and also help in taking a much better photo even in daylight. but from my own usage from my newly bought XPERIA XZ2, I would still suggest them to add a variable aperture I said earlier but, even with a F2.0 aperture, I see a major improve particularly on low-light even if I compare it to my XPERIA XZs, XPERIA XZ PREMIUM or the XPERIA XZ1 which all sport the same IMX400 Motion Eye found in the current one

This device just good for me. I think this design find the economic performance. Why phone needs ram 6 gigs? The apss never meed such as big memory. It's not useful until you use many task. But how many you will use multi tasking? 3 gigs it's enough. Camera do good job with stabilization. In low light still poor because it's 1/2, Idk why they never change this aperture. But overheat I heard that's the problem. After all this is will my next phone I hope.

Look, every country is different. Some countries have better support for some brands like here in Singapore, it seems like for most of the smartphone brands have somewhat the same amount of support they got. Do u think that having IP68 means u can use it underwater at ease? No! Even though that rating shows how good it can resist from dust and water, it doesn't mean that it is flawless when u submerge in water! Besides, logically speaking, have u ever thought of the manufacturing process? U might be thinking "Every smartphone are manufactured perfectly the same", if that's how u think, then u are wrong. Even if there are machines to manufacture all these smartphones, think again, are all smartphones manufactured 100% the same? Some may have used lesser amounts of thermal compound which are not spread equally for the chipset, some may have loosen cameras, some of it may not be sealed properly, have u ever thought of these when u saw a smartphone with the dust and waterproof rating? Probably not. These minor errors may be the things that caused u to have some problems with your smartphone, maybe your smartphone got some seal problems, u never know! This manufacturing process applies to EVERYTHING, they are not 100% perfectly manufactured all the time, like computer chipsets too, with the chipset die inside, they may not spread equally for smooth cooling for the chipset. Even if I am living in a country which manufactures things perfectly, I am still having doubts with the dust and waterproof rating. So, what does this mean? Do not do anything stupid like submerging your smartphone underwater for taking photos or videos even if the smartphone itself have a dust and waterproof rating

Yours is definitely regarding to the software problem, if it is not then it is probably the sensor build inside, I have no problems with my XPERIA X PERFORMANCE, used for almost 2 years, no problem, just received ANDROID OREO a few days later from the start of 2018, noticed better battery life and performance when running apps, for the camera I see minor improvements like white balance, but for the rest it is as identical like how it is when I am running ANDROID NOUGAT 7.1.1

Try resetting the WiFi settings, u may need to reset it for a few times, I reset 3 times previously and now it is working just fine, but u shouldn't have that much of a problem now if u are on ANDROID OREO

Here and there, but not much....I mostly browse, watch you tube, snap a photo here and there, listen to an hour or two of music... But, keep in mind this is my usage pattern and my settings... It may differ in your case. But that is about with any phone. Camera for me is excellent. Daylight great. For lowlight indoors auto is enough, for dark and night I use preset manual and its great (hdr on, 1/8 shutter, -0.7 exposure). Fhd 60 fps video is excellent. Anyways, by Arenas merits, with 200 nits, stamina on, background data off...you get about 10 hr wifi browsing, 9-10 hr video, last time I checked about 5 hr of heavy play (Real racing 3, Gods of Rome)...frequent updates indeed increased SoT at the end in my experience. Anyways, from where I stand, I recommend it indeed for the actual price.

I really dont know what Sony did in september OTA update, but I can say with certainty that with same settings and same usage pattern, without root, my SoT just jumped from 6-7 hr SoT to 8-9 hr SoT. And that is excellent.

Yes but currently all phone manufacturers disable the FM RADIO for newer Android versions. Downloading from the Google Play Store are all good, but they use WiFi/Mobile Data instead of Over-The-Air, which means it cannot use your earphones to signal the radio but instead it uses WiFi/Mobile Data

I know what you mean man. Manual mode is really very useful in Sony phones. But still, for me, Pixels are better deal for me because they are like Xperia devices(smooth) but with a lot better camera. It is slide to the left of your camera if u r facing vertically. U can control the ISO which can help in noice reduction at night. A force HDR option so every image is HDR. The exposure value also u can adjust the brightness of the image. It is sort of helpful at night. Superior Auto works very well during daylight but try and use Manual Mode during night for perfect images

Oh web browsing and youtube. I got XZ and I also use YouTube and about 5hrs of on screen time for youtube. So maybe urs will drain a little bit more because of the smaller 2700mah compared to 2900mah. Web browsing is good tho. 7hrs on that, satisfied. Camera the reason why they say its bad because Sony's Superior Auto mode produces very bad images during low light. Only when u use manual mode u will realise how useful and good Sony's camera is

I was just very curious since the endurance rating here is only 61 hours(not good by any means). I'm a heavy user too but mostly web browsing and Youtube. In the reviews in Youtube, they were quite skeptical of the performance of the phone because it's quite sluggish and not as fast as previous Sony flagships. Then also, they said that the camera is not as good as the other flagships which is a bit disappointing for me. BTW, I'm also a huge Sony fan since 2012 and never considered other phones other than Sony. But since Google phones consist of good software which are smooth, fluid and very fast(like Sony),

Of course its real. About 200 nits, autobrightness off, smartcleaner off, social apps no (all cause drain), data saving on, stamina for performance on, installed greenify just in case... Heavy use yes, but mostly web surfing (UC browser, it would be better with chrome but t UC is just better), music listening. If some gaming, camera use added you get about 7 hr SoT. If extreme usage with some data processing etc.... 6-7 hr SoT. While sleeping about 7hr, in standby only about 1% drop. All in all Im quite satisfied, it gets me through my day easily with its 2700 mah battery.

Android 7.1.1 they already said it will drain more. Its the Android 7.1.1 itself. The performance sluggishness is normal. Sometimes the speed will drop and then went back up. My S7 does that. Multitasking is bad because it is on a 3GB RAM device. Multitasking works well in 4GB RAM and above devices. Plus how can the camera be poor when theres manual mode for people wanting to take better photos

I've been using Xperia X Performance for one month. When the phone haven't received the Nougat firmware, the Marshmallow firmware did drained alot of the battery with minimal usage on my phone. After upgrading to Nougat 7.1.1, all I could say is my phone is running perfectly fine. My battery seems to last for around 22hours per charge. Fyi, i did turnes on the Stamina mode and adjust my screen brightness. For the overheating part, I haven't encounter it so far with the Nougat 7.1.1 update. IMO, the Xperia X Performance is better than the Samsung S7. I do owned a Samsung S7 and all I can say is it's not durable or robust like Sony phones. Cheers mate.

I can get this phone from a trusted internetstore in sweden(I live in sweden) for 4000 kr. That is 400 in US dollars. Same price of the honor 8. The only thing I really care about is performance. I know the kirin 950 is better but in the graphics department the adreno 530 dominates the Mali-T880 mp4. And I play games like Hearthstone and Asphalt 8. Its superb from my view yes... never had marshmallow to compare tho. As soon as I got it, updated it to all it had (8 freakin updates including nougat one), then made a factory reset and reinstalled all the software anew which is obligatory to avoid bugs. Its working like a charm.... But is it worth it? I dont know, I can only compare to feats and revs on the net based on marshmallow. Camera got shutter control now, which is good as it allows to make really great lowlight shots (keep EV level lower, shutter also... amazing results with 20mpx also at low light). Also on half brightness and X reality got approxim 10hr videoplay time(10% per hr drain) on Nougat, whereas rev here calculated 8:14, which is more than 20% increase... Same goes for browsing. I dont know about volume increase, but the thing is really loud on Nougat. There is just one bug tho, but could be to my process kill app settings, autobrightness on stamina sometimes goes beserk when battery below 15%, but I keep it on half without auto(around 250-270nits), its good enough even for bright sunlight.

A5 and A7 hardly better options, those are really bad phones, and its not even sony fan in me talking.....no hires sound, no stereo speakers, no camera stabilisation at all on worse set of cameras, lousy SoC with atrocity bad graphic performance.... only thing good about those is battery maH, but not exactly in daily usage either Better to go for Xperia X for the price of A5 then, it is not waterproof but is splashproof even tho not marketed as such.

I can tell you about my X Perform only. Dont own others. If you are bothered by grain in pictures, keep to Samsung, tho on 8mpx mode there will be no grain in Xperias, but also less detail like on Samsung. I prefer more detail grain in 23mpx is unnoticable unless you go full 200 zoom. X Perform takes amazing pictures, really the detail, color and dynamic range in daylight is unmatched. Lowlight with enough artific light (indoors, sunsets) is great, tho a bit less detail preserved just as any other phone. In no light scenario and dusk scenarios it struggles (tho dont know a mobile camera that doesnt) and come out grainy, but still usable shots 1:1. 60 fps fhd video is superb and stable indeed with steadyshot, I keep IAM off because it causes some frame distortion on pan. Tested it for 5 min, heats up a bit but no noticable heatup. Speakers are great and really loud, tho metal back vibrates a lot on max volume and distortes the sound a bit, so I keep it somewhat lower to avoid that. Really dont see why people ask for more loudness from a phone. Also you have mono option in Nougat now and can gain about 5db more with it. Headphone sound is amazingly good with dsee hx on, even on most simple headphones. Phone is really fast, fp scanner even too fast for my taste, I dont use it. There is ocassional heavy app reload, tho I am really not bothered by it as I dont consider keeping app in cache multitasking good for batterylife, I use Greenify to kill apps in background also. Loads apps really fast. On batterylife: as I said perviously, keeping my screen on half brightness without autoadjust (bright enough for use even in sunlight), Stamina mode for better performance mode, Xperia app cleaner off( it eats too much battery in background) and background data/syncing saving mode... I get 6 to 8 hr SoT, about 10 hr videotime and about same browsing endurance. 6 if I play War of Gods for 1/2 hr(indeed great gaming with sd820 and fornt facing stereo) , make a 30 min talk and listen to 1 hr music daily, 7-8 hr if I only browse through the day. So its about the same as my previous Z1c with which I was well satisfied to get me through the day of my own heavy usage scenario.... 1-2% drop per hour in standby. If one would use the phone as here in arenas scenario, like 1hr of brows, 1hr of video and 1 hr of talking per day... two days endurance on single charge easily. I am indeed satisfied with my Performance I got for 420+VAT, as it is an upgrade over my Z1c in every way, except battery endurance which is about the same. There, hope this helps a bit in deciding.

So preliminar estimate of battery life: With my usage pattern which is screen on autobrightness set to 40%, background data limited, and xperias app cleaner off(it really eats a lot in the background), installed greenify and process killer just in case, II get 6 to 7 hr screen ontime with about 1hr videoplay, 1 hr playing with camera, and 4 hr web surfing in all... But usually I dont surf that much. So estimate is 6-8 hr SoT. Which is enough for heavier use 24 hr. If used by this here merits you can easily get 2 day juice out of it indeed. I really am satisfied by batterylife as it is even better than my z1c. Will post screenshots to prove my estimate.

Its an excellent device, but I just dont know what to think about daily battery endurance. The Z5 series and Z3+ both have serious heating problems. The Z5 used an extra heat pipe (2) for cooling, while the Z3+ only had one copper heat pipe. The copper heat pipe design started in the Z2 series and has been used in laptops and PC's for years sucessfully. The extra heat pipe in the Z5 greatly helped this heating problem, but under heavy use, it would still get very warm and if pushed harder, then warning pop ups would occur. Spapdragon 810 chipset has thermal heating problems in all phones. Why it was even released by Qualcomm is questionable. Microsoft Lumia and LG Flex 2 and Z5 using the 810 cpu all have heating issues. There is no way around it, unfortunately. You need to get used to it and accept it or buy another phone.

I actually owned a Z5 for 4 months and just recently sold it, as I wasn't happy with it. The Z5 used dual heat pipes which helped the high temperatures a little, but its still ran hot. Its that plain and simple. In fact, under medium usage it would reach 70C easily. Never checked its temperature under very heavy usage as pop up warnings would tell me to shut it down regularly. But, holding a phone like toaster in my hands was ridiculous to me. Thats only one of the reasons why I sold my Z5. Unlike you, I don't pretend to own any other Xperia. As for other brands, well they simply chose a safer/better option with the SD808 chip. Everbody saw what happened with the Z3+ using the SD810 chip. You have never owned a Z5, so your comments are irrelevant and unknowledgeable. But, I see you in every Sony phone forum giving expert advice on products that you don't own. Plus, you are using 3 different user names here now. FYI, Samsung has only used a single heat pipe in its S7 models and it was the thinnest design about.

I've nothing to say in this regard. All the reviews or videos you read and watch about Sony are negative be it the Z series or the X series you won't find a single review which justifies their phones. All the praises go with Samsung and Apple even LG. But still I bought their phones (Z2,Z3,Z5 and X) luckily they all have been solid in terms of performance. You simply can't judge a phone without using it or playing with it in a store. I'm not against any brand but I still prefer Sony as their phones have been really good in build quality, stability and most important the updates even their mid range phones get the latest updates compared to Samsung.

The X Performance does cost around 440€ in my country. Although it is cheaper compared to it's initial price which was 699 €, I think that this is still to much. Do you think that the price is going to drop in the immediate future (e.g. lauch of new mobile phones, competition, presentation of new phones (MWC))? Sony may be a premium company, but the surcharge is too high. For me a price around 385€ would be acceptable.

I have z3 since 2.5 years it is amazing smartphone, still like when i bought it or even better, supper smooth, my uncle have Xperia x performance, i had it for two hours, it's camera's are fabulous, battery life seems not the best but great, the design is unique, downside it is pretty pricey.

My xp also have this problem. I've tried to use Sony Companion to repair it, however it only repair the rotate problem for 2 weeks. After that, i found one way on the internet to fix it. "STOP" and uninstall updates of the Google Play service and reboot to install it. This works for me until now (approximate a month).

Both are same res screen, and the XZ is only a 0.2 inch bigger. The difference of power consumption of a 5inch FHD display and 5.2inch FHD display are negligible. You can check out the reviews and find out the XZ' battery performs better than the X and XP. One area where the X and XP disappointed was the battery section. I ask about the battery life because the XP has a 2700 mAh battery with a 5.0" screen, while the XZ has a 2900 mAh battery with a 5.2" screen, so I feel like the difference is negligible. Don't just look at the spec sheet and make a decision. XZ has a better display, better battery, much better camera, and improved audio, new and better design, USB type C. Battery life of the Xperia X and X Performance aren't good, XZ improves a lot on that. And with the new battery care feature, XZ's battery will retain its performance throughout its life span.

Grom, Yeah I'd take the X Performance ANY DAY over the Note 7. I don't like phablets, and I had the S7 Edge for 2 weeks and S7 for 4 months............the S7 was a nice phone overall, but also a big letdown for me personally. Maybe at 5.5" or 5.7" the 2K screen is nice, but even at that point I still don't know if I agree it's worth the extra battery power loss, esp if the apps are not optimized to it. My reasons for not liking the S7 (which should transfer over to the Note 7 since specs are about the same): 1) TouchWiz & Settings Menu: Yes, TouchWiz is still quite LAGGY. Despite having 4 GBs of RAM, I've seen the phone lag when transitioning from one app to another or even clearing the notification pane vs. my XP (and even the older Xperia Z1s), which only has 3 GBs of RAM, but runs SMOOTHER than the S7 did! When playing music through the MicroUSB port (with headphones), the S7 skipped every 3-5 min! 4 hours with the same setup on the XP? Didn't skip once! NOT once! Oh and the Settings menu on the S7, though improved vs. the S5's........... I still found it to be a bit confusing. Like it took me a few minutes to find "Location" where on the XP it was right there. Simpler, better. 2) Speaker: The single speaker on the S7 is beyond horrid. Drum sounds rendered like someone was shooting off a laser gun. Now the Note 7's speaker is much better, but still, NO front-facing stereo speakers like the XP. So to really hear the sound from videos and music clearly, you would have to tilt the Note 7. I'm guessing the Note 7's speaker for phone calls is better than the S7's, but I bet it's still not as clear as the XP's, though I haven't had a chance to prove this. I just know the S7's was def NOT clearer than my XP's, and I don't even have the benefit of VoLTE or HD Voice like I did with the S7. 3) Display & Camera: Yes, AMOLED screens DO tend to oversaturate certain colors. The XP's screen and also camera are more color accurate and JUST as detailed as the S7's and Note 7's cameras. (And keep in mind............Apple, Samsung and HTC ALL use Sony camera sensors on their flagship phones.) This comparison I'd found further proves yours and my point on the color accuracy: 4) Misc: I'm not a fan of the physical home button, and with the XP you don't have that issue. The fingerprint sensor is WISELY placed or integrated into the SIDE power button, which I like better because then you can use it one-handed. Makes so much more sense. I wish HTC had done that with the HTC 10. Placing it at the front bottom was I think them trying to be too much like Samsung or Apple, so I'm happy to say the 10's and iPhone 7's front button is actually not a button but a "haptic feedback" pad that doesn't really press inwards. I've had the XP for months now. It's fast, smooth, takes excellent pictures, phone calls are crystal clear, stereo speakers, is QC 3.0-compatible (ignore any source that says it isn't, cuz it is!), has a premium build to it (I got graphite black with the brushed aluminum/hairline finish back.........sweet!), etc etc. I think the choice is clear. lol

Boy i was wrong, QHD screens are so pointless!! apps are just not yet optimised properly, touch wiz is horrible and feels so heavy! The phone gets so warm just doing basic tasks. with this sony xp. i have this red light at the speaker bar at top, when not plug in. Its very low light, on and off. like its telling me something is running in the background. but nothing is, i clear all. i think its part of why my battery is messtup and ive always had to have my stamina mode on. its weird that stamina can make my battery normal, turn it off and my battery drains within like an hour. ive always careless about removable battery, but that would fix it i bet. I hope im right that its because i didnt charge it before i power it on for the first time. i open box and turn it on and it was at 40%

I agree. Only way it'll last 2 days is if you leave it on Standby for most of the time. The era of 2-day battery life of Sony Xperia flagship phones died with the ending of the Z-Series. If you check the XP or XZ's website, you'll notice that the once PROMINENT mention of 2-day battery life has been removed. The XZ mentions longer battery life thanks to QNovo charging, but that doesn't mean 2 days. lol

ok i recorded in the settings you wanted, outside summer time with the sun over my head. I expected z5 to keep on recording forever, but that wasn't the case. Camera shut down at 11 minutes of recording.. maybe it was the sun and the fact that i went to a pretty hot store to get something to eat? Anyway after I left the store Z5 stopped recording 1080p 60fps video at 11 minutes. Obviously I was wrong.

I'm not trying to fuc.k with u, i state that the cameras are recording in the resolution you put em to record. The phones aren't recording in 6k and then downscale the videos in 4k, or 1080p. If this was happening it wouldn't matter in which resolution we record, as the phone would end up being a toaster, literally. Sony z5 can record 1080p until it runs out of memory, and 4k until it heats up. It would heat up if it was recording in 6k, no matter if i put 1080p or 4k as the end result.

Sony might be doing it on their high end cameras (high end big as.s bulky cameras), but Z5 or Xp are not cameras, neither have big bulky camera sensors, neither a processor powerful enough to handle 6k recording without burning itself, facts are facts. They are phones with cameras. Great cameras yes, but limited due to sensor size. I have to agree on the "who cares?" part as it really doesn't matter, but for the convo going on, ill continue. You can't compare a big professional camera that's made for video recording, with a phone camera. Simply because it's a phone on the end, not a professional camera. 4 Gb of ram are needless for sony, sony smartphones can perform excellent and better than other devices with just 3 GB of ram. The storage of this smartphone can be expanded by an sd card by 256 GB maximum. 4000 mah battery is overcapacity 3200 mah would excellent, but the 2700 mah is very good.

NOT. saying the camera uses all 23mp to record then decreases the resolution to 1080p or 4k is so stupid i can't even.. . If it was recording at 6k the phone would probably end up burning within seconds. The camera records at the resolution you put it to record, hense why it overheats by recording in 4k. You are overreacting. X Perf overheats at 29 min recording 1080p at 60 fps.... Its good but it could do better yes... Bare in mind we are talking about a 23 mpx sensor videoprocessing here, not some 12mpx, and that 1080p at 60 fps with Steadyshot and IAM on is twice more straining on SoC than same with 30fps, and almost same as 4K at 30fps with only basic stabilization. There is a certain temp at which it shuts down, of course if you strain the device prior by excessive testing and cause SoC heatup, it ll record for less than that cause it will reack max temp app block sooner... Bare in mind even your z5 recorded less 4K than it can now on prior firmwares, and got better at it with updates.. The z3+ in this video is proof that Sony improves on overheat app shutdown time by every update. And Im affraid there is NO other phone on this planet with 23mpx sensor using DIS for stabilization to compare as to how successful Sony is at optimizing its videorecording.

Hey Andy, If you want 4K camera on the XP, it IS available. All you have to do is download Open Camera from Google Play Store and use that instead of the stock camera app on the XP. The XP IS 4K-ready, but for some reason Sony Mobile (in their INIFINITE wisdom lol) decided to lock that feature out of the stock camera app. But the XP IS 4K-ready!

Just pick the Xperia X Performance up today for $0 dollars, a savings of $700 by signing a 2 year data plan contract, $100/mth for 2Gb data, unlimited calling/txt. I like the 23Mp pixel camera, although the lens limits the sensor badly, and well, still a better camera than most cell phones. The expansion mini SD memory card slot, up to 256Gb is great....the mini memory card comes with an adaptor to fit other devices like a laptop. Sound is superb. Abit slower response compared to a Samsung Note 5, well, half the cpu, a quad core, compared to the 8 core of the Note 5....response lag is minimal, just need to close other apps. Adjustment to (non existent) bottom access bottons is less tactile than the Note 5, but other than that, mostly the same, abit narrower than the Note 5, great for smaller hands. Overall i like the Xperia, that i bought because of the better camera, and so far, it is great, but lacks the 4k video capability. You get what you pay for, and well, it cost me nothing.

It was unique, but I think the issue is that people don't want to have to buy an extra cable just to use the magnetic charger (like I did lol). I did also like it though......it was a cool unique feature of the Z series phones. But I honestly don't see they would bring it back unless the phone came with the cable AND it was like QC 3.0-ready. One thing I didn't like with the S7's wireless charging was that if you didn't have it like pretty much RIGHT on the center, it wouldn't charge. A bunch of times I noticed it would start out charging then I guess if it still wasn't "centered" enough, the phone would shortly later STOP charging and if you didn't check it for hours (like overnight while you're sleeping) you wouldn't know 'til MUCH later that it never finished charging. I'd rather just use a cable. lol

Wireless charging isn't all that great. The heat from the charger being in DIRECT contact with the back of the phone has been said to wear down the phone battery even faster than usual. And unless you pay like $40-$80 for the QC 2.0 charger, it will be regular charging, not QC. Also, the XP CANNNN handle QC 3.0 (don't believe those who say otherwise, I own the phone and Sony's UCH12 QC charger ISSS a 3.0 charger per Sony's website), and since there are no QC 3.0 wireless chargers, you won't be able to take advantage of that with wireless charging. So just get yourself a QC 3.0 wall and/or home charger, and enjoy the phone!

Now about signal, the 10 has full metal design, metal block signal, the 10 signal reception is bad. No. It has a trick. It has antenna lines. They put antenna cables outside metal, connected them with antennas and other chips. So with a antennas outside metal it means they can get signal from any directions. Now how about XP, it has metal back. it doesnt have antenna outside. The antenna is behind metal about 1,5cm from top frame, so since signal can't goes through metal, the closest way to reach antenna is from top plastic, it needs to sneaks 1,5cm behind metal to reach antennas. Thats why the results is not good.

My knowledge on the phone is extensive, obviously more than yours. The fact that you still think the Z5 is better than the XP only further validates that. I don't need a video to tell me something different than my own experiences with BOTH phones. It's COMMON KNOWLEDGE that TouchWiz is a pretty laggy (not to mention LOUSY) UI, so for all I know the phones in your video were messed with to get more favorable results for the S7. The fact that the video does a "Speed Test" tells me right there it's BS. Speed tests are meant to determine NETWORK SPEED not device speed. It's all right here. Read it and learn something. And who the F cares about boot up speed? And who cares if the HTC 10 is a unibody or not? The point is it's METAL on the back, and STILL premium! I can't believe you actually tried to argue that it matters. In this video, the results lean towards the Xperia's favor with regards to speed. The point of this is to show you that benchmarks aren't as accurate as people think. There are MANY factors that can alter the end result. They are really just guidelines at best. My S7 SKIPPED every 3-5 minutes while playing music via the MicroUSB port (this happened ALL THE TIME), while my XP after 3-4 HOURS didn't skip once. THAT'S what I care about........the phone that doesn't dare F with my music listening. So F the S7. I'd first use it as a coaster for my drinks than as a phone.

It looks like you have very limited knowledge about phone. I will find the easy way to explain it. For now Check this out. With the same network xp got 150mbps, S7 get 200mbps. S7 has dualglass design like Z5. So dual glass is better design. Stop overhype plastic on XP, signal strengh is still in question, but plastic cheap is abvious. And HTC 10 has premium full metal unibody NOT only flat METAL BACK. It means the frame and the back of HTC 10 are made from one piece aluminium.

I like the brushed aluminum back of the XP more than the Z5's glass backside, though I did really like the chrome/mirror-colored Z5P too. I've read several reviews that said that plastic/polycarbonate is better than metal for signal reception, so I dunno. Z5 has more premium build, to make metal frame is costier than flat metal back. Metal frame needs more difficult cutting. Plastic side for improved reception? LOL. The low end phone has plastic side and plastick back, better? Large space glass back is far better for signal than plastic side only, z5 also has nfc chip on the back. Best placement. The dual glass design is premium design, only for flagship and budget flagship or premium midrager, like S7, mi5, honor8, one plus X, A team. While metal back is only for low end. The only phone with the same metal back design is honor 5C. The most applied design is metal back sloped to side, like redmi 3, honor 5X, galaxy on7, medipad t7 etc.

First of all qualcomm 810 is the king of overheating issues, z5 overheats more than x series but the problem of vedio recording in x series that they are adjusted very early to report overheating then shutdown the camera, regarding to the build quality and design, when metal was better than plastic??? The 5 inches display is definitely better than 5.2 in one hand usage, many people complaining about the sharp edges in z5 series they are very harmful to the hands. Being a z5 owner doesn't mean that it is better (-_-).

Actually, he is right. You seem a bit defensive of your purchase here. X Performance is a better phone than z5 right now, its got sd 820, qnovo battery with batterylife about equal to z5 (reports are very inconsistent, some praise, some dont), better cameras, better screen, sturdier design... And yes, it can record 4k video through 3rd party apps or by root, and has h.265 going for it. So, it is better, newer phones do tend to be better. But z5 is great too tho.

On paper? No....... on paper the S7 is faster since it has 4 GBs of RAM and the XP only has 3. In real life however, the XP is faster and doesn't lag. I don't even bother looking at benchmarks anymore, or if I do, I put little stock in them. Again, I'd listen to music with my headphones using the S7's MicroUSB connection, and it'd skip like EVERY 3-5 minutes (despite having more RAM)! SUPER annoying! Then I got my XP and one night I remember I went like 3-4 hours STRAIGHT with the same setup, and it didn't even skip once. NOT ONCE! And you guys actually question that new article stating that Sony's Xperia phones have the best software? That is why I don't listen to the XP nay-sayers, because I know the truth first-hand. Do you guys even own or have held the XP in your hands? I keep hearing specs & stats that you're reporting from official sources, but what are your own PERSONAL experiences with the XP? Dude s7 has a much better battery life than both x and x performance. it's at the level of z5's battery life. s7 is also smaller than x performance, and it has a bigger screen and a bigger battery. Yeah we've been a few rounds you and I, and have to be honest, you give as good as you get :) And as we are both level headed individuals we can agree at times also, like in the case of the XP. Now you know I don't hold the Z5 in anywhere near the high regard you do, but it's clear now that the XP does not represent any where near the forward step needed for Sony to be competitive with 2016's best. In fact, it may have taken a few steps back in some ways when compared to its predecessor. I really hope Sony have something big on the horizon, otherwise I fear for their future in the mobile space, because one things for sure, their competitors are not standing still. Talking of yawning, after going through that little tirade of your I now just can't seem to stop. We do however agree on something it seems, I have said for a long time now that DXoMark's results are a bit iffy. Even though they scored the 3 devices you mentioned the same, the 'reality' is that the XP is the best because you say so...you can't be that impressed by DXOMark either then eh? As for reviewers 'assuming' stuff, that's not how it works. Fanboys (like yourself for instance) like to just assume sh*t, reviewers draw conclusions based on the findings of a review...get it?? The sunlight legibility of the S7 screen is higher than the XP, the dual pixel auto focus tech and shot to shot times are quicker, the low light performance is better. The reason a lot of people are saying these things is because they have been demonstrated to be true. Those two videos I posted in the link to earlier, go watch them, the guy doing those reviews could likely bump his head and momentarily forget more about mobile tech than I'd wager you'll ever know, I'll go with his take on reality over yours any day.

The S7 is a great phone DenisXD, but it's also somewhat overrated. It is NOT a better phone overall than the XP. Unless you think having Qi-Wireless charging is some big deal. Maybe if this was 2013, not in 2016 though, esp when it can't charge as fast as QC 3.0 can. Sony Mobile may NOT be perfect, but the XP definitely IS a flagship phone. Just b/c it doesn't have 4 GBs of RAM don't think it's not faster than the S7, cuz sorry, IT IS. I've already mentioned and given an example of this in very recent posts. No 2K screen? At 5", 2K is really no big deal. I'd rather have the extra battery life. The screen STILL looks great! The XP can get brighter than the S7 can too, which is helpful under heavy sunlight. I can actually make out the screen under those conditions where with my S7 I had to look for shade to see what was on the screen. The speaker is beyond ridiculous on the S7........I mean even the S6's was better. The Settings menu has improved since the S5 I had a couple years ago (for like 4 days lol), but it's still not the easiest to coast through. With the HTC & Sony phones, everything is simple & easy to find quickly. The Z5 was great in some ways, but the XP has a BETTER camera than can also take wider shots, and it's more color accurate and brighter than the Z5. It also has Hybrid Autofocus for sharper pics. The 4K screen was no big whoop cuz it was only 4K if u viewed 4K content. And I don't care for phablets at all, so I'm glad Sony didn't go that route with the XP.

The only thing you're promoting is yawns. No it's not pointless, if you actually have a valid point. Like even though I think the XP is the best new phone around, I would admit 1) Although the battery life is very good (esp with Stamina Mode enabled), it still isn't AS good as the Z3's was 2) Not a huge fan of Sony putting the notification light WITHIN the the top stereo front-facing speaker when it should've been kept separate for easier viewing from the side (I have to basically look directly at it to even see it) 3) I'm REALLY tired of ppl still saying Samsung has the better camera. That is total horsesh*t! All 3 phones (HTC 10, Sony XP, Samsung S7) got an 88 on DxoMark, but the reality is I've owned all 3 phones and tested their cameras using OPTIMAL (though Automatic) settings, and they are NOT equal. No way. The 10's camera doesn't offer the same detail as the XP's and S7's, and the S7's is less color accurate and tends to be somewhat overly saturated, giving an artificial look. 4) The biggest BS statement of all is that the S7 is faster than the XP (which MANY reviewers seem to assume is true b/c of the specs) because it has an extra GB of RAM, but I know for a fact that isn't true. My parents' Xperia Z1s (released Jan 2014) I've seen it load things (not necessarily download, but load) up quicker than the S7, and it only has 2 GBs of RAM, 1 less than the XP. Yeah but they're also not BASH forums either.

On 2nd note I don't think I'm the only one considering xp a midranger, it doesn't have a good optimisation to record even fhd video, the camera shuts down after a few minutes. That's the reason Sony skipped the 4k recording entirely. 2nd it doesn't have fm radio when the "outdated" z5 has. I don't get it lex.. seriously it's like fans all over get excited just because they see something new, it doesn't matter if it doesn't have things previous phones had, it's brand new! Praise it like you are a sheep in a herd! I was in the new sony phone post and said that bezels are huge in comparison to z5, which they are. And fans attacked to me. Your should Dude. Its always good to experience something new. If you come from Sony, i dont recommend you HTC, you'll get not so different experience. I recommend you LG phones, it has attractive UI, the best i ever tried. It looks like they think about everything. There are many handy software tricks.From waking up the screen, texting, inserting audio Jack, till turning off the screen, everything is fun. Now even when screen is off, its already has something for you. And with Ir blaster you'll be the master everywhere. Its also fun we can snail in our neighbour garden, snoop them from their window, and turn off the TV when they are watching it. I also recommend you Oppo phones, it also has a fun UI.

The reviewer will weigh the pros and cons of a number of devices and give you their 'opinion'. A fanboy will simply say it's the best no matter what. And salsman will convince anyone to buy their product.How? Its easier if they have best selling product they only need to say their product is the best. Again no. See this is the problem with you fanboys. Let me put it to you simply, I am currently using an LG G5, but here's two things you'll never see me post about that device: 1. Its the best smartphone in the world ever (simply because it's the one I own, or because I happen to 'love' the manufacturer...I don't by the way, I care as much about companies as they care about me) 2. You should buy the G5, because then I know you'll say it's the best ever as well. I can't speak for what other people will think, neither can you. Sony's crash ratio is 0.01% better then it's closest competitor according to those stats....0.01%!!!!, I hardly think that is even going to be noticeable in real world use, do you????? Still, according to those stats they are at number 1, so props for that and all. Still I'm not going to take your advice and buy any of the current X line (and yes I could quite easily if I wanted to). See, the vast majority of professional reviewers are saying that there are better options in the current 2016 line up than both the X and XP. Now I can take their advice, or yours.....I'll take theirs. Plus I owned more than one Xperia phone in the past, if fact I have one now as a backup device (M4 Aqua), as such I pretty much know what to expect. HTC promised improvement over the dissapointing M9, and the general consensus is that they have delivered, am looking forward to seeing what they offer in these two upcoming Nexus devices. And yeah Motorola also seems to be onto a good thing, not saying I'm going to rush out and buy the Moto X or anything, but an intriguing product it is. Sony could learn a thing or two from both I think, changing the Z to and X and cutting back on overall features whilst keeping price high is not doing anything for them. They need to go back to the drawing board asap. I do think they still have a place in the mobile space.

My Sony x pf is too good for me,cannt say why you are so interested in bashing it(you know someone who used it and complain about it personally). Used it for 13 days and its good for me and Im a Sony user for 8 yrs never tried other brand in 4 yrs (I've bad experience with them or maybe my bad luck) so I dont know if there's even better device than this. Had my xperia x performance for a month now and omg what a phone, I don't know why so many people put it down, battery lasts 2 days and at the end of 2nd day it's still only on 30%. It's fast and never lags, my signal for 3&4g are amazing. So much better than all my friends galaxy s6&7's. It's camera is awesome in every way and the phone never gets hot no matter what you throw at it. I'm so happy with it that I will have it for a long time. The only issue is that company's need to make more case's for it.

True. For sony its only about 'compability' between software and hardware. Look at X hardware, FHD screen, hexacore ARM cpu, 3 GB RAM. Similar to Nexus 5X, right? Yes not the same Soc, but same character. While XP, it has new Quadcore custom Kyro CPU. Google still dont have phone with that SoC. So google software is not optimized for that SoC, and Sony software is close to stock. So why OP3, Mi5, S7, 10, moto Z are faster wth the same Soc, sammy even use their own SoC. they are faster bcz Vendors do 'Optimisation'. Optimisation make the software more 'compatible' for hardware.

No. They dont do optimisation at all. You know everyphone has different configuration of hardware. The software for X and XP is almost identical, even camera app is the same(should not). Lucky for X that software suit it better, for X perf.. the software doesnt suit it. Thats why Xperia X is faster than stronger brother X perf. X opens camera 2-3 seconds faster than XP.

This is a great device, using this phone from last 1 week and am totally satisfied by performance of this device. Everything runs smooth and both of the cameras take clear pictures and video recording is also good. Sometimes in low light areas, camera takes average pictures and about battery backup, it is good and more than enough. If you are light user then it can last for a day easily and if you are. Heavy user it last a half day. At last i just wanna say that this is a great device from sony, it is a real beast. But you should consider daily life performance, don't look at those benchmark performance, in real world this is a beast, i will advise everyone this mobile phone who wants to buy a high end phone. People are dumm actually. They think about software one dimensionaly, meaning if sth loads faster it must be better. Why does Sony have its trusted fans? Because of user experience exactly. What does user experience consist of? Software quality and optimisation. Sony is best at it. Why? Because for ex every single sonys native app is twice as big as any other vendors standard app Everyone.can look it up.... Any Other vendors standard app is about max 7 mb .apk, whilst sonys is 15 mb .apk, including anything sonys from camera app, gallery app, music app, movies app, etc... So yes, Sony has one of biggest UI bundle out there, but there is good reasons for that, and its not bloatware as in other vendors, its software enhancements....for better user experience. So, if Xperia boots up slower, its because of the amount of all the software enhancement it needs to load up. If an app opens up a 0.6 s slower its because its 15mb and not 7 mb heavy app. And those apps are so much user friendly and better looking. Why do exynos phones load heavy apps faster? Because of better multicore performance, but all the rest performances go in favour of snapdragon. But also exynos phones have twice the lousier graphic performance. Its users will to choose between the two. Why does Xperia camera app cause heat up? Because of amount of postprocessing in video, compensating lack of mechanical OIS by software SoC draining steadyshot, and of course 23 mpx sensor photo postprocessing is quite heavy SoC drainer, but you get so much better video stabilisation and photos for it... Absolutely wrong, a speed test which is starts with booting up is wrong, some devices heat up more than others when booting up, but the funny thing is that you ignored the hanging of s7 edge when he tried to see its rank, and you didn't say anything about the lags in game play video comparison, those are real issues, all that you are spotting on is that the s7 has slightly better score in antutu benchmark and it is slightly faster in loading applications while these are not issues and are not noticeable in real life, if you are really interested in this, why you don't just go for iphones???

Posting from one this very moment... This thing is as crappy as a high end device could possibly be. Within 2 days of receiving it, it already shows signs of tear and wear. 2 days!!! Slow startup. Takes about 30s to fully boot up. Now this is the 2nd android device I have tried, and I still dont get the fusss. The aesthetics is basic, performance is just ok. Maybe I am biased coming from flagship Nokia devices (my latest being the Lumia 930) Any way this nonsense is getring back into a box on its way back to amazon.

Nope, its not... Its only the exynos versions, that are better in and only in multicore performance. The sd820 s7 is quite a weaker story in that aspect... And....with exynos galaxy models you get the crappy mali graphics that are twice weaker than snapdragon adreno graphics. So when comparing, please note that those game apps loading faster on galaxies, s7 in perticular, are 2x worse in graphics once loaded... Its only logic, but hey, you choose to deny it... Snapdragon is a better SoC than Exynos overall, believe it or not. X Performance is a better performer than S7 overall, believe it or not

Is that why they consistently release phones with low capacity batteries, because their Boneria phones are "well optimized" while scoring average endurance performance ratings across the board? Fine but that still doesn't justify the price, you're not getting enough for your money compared to Samsung, HTC, LG. I highly doubt anyone put off by the somewhat tame Note 7 would jump to considering an XP. There is quite a size difference between the two didn't you know? It's more likely that such people would now look to the likes of the One plus 3, Moto Z, S7 Edge etc as they are much closer to what probably drew them to the Note in the first place.

Had Xperia Performance X for 2 days now..here is my simple review compared to friends Samsung Galaxy S6 & S7...Samsung S7 boots up faster, loads all apps faster and is much faster on internet...Generally the Xperia Performance X is about the same speed wise as the S6....the speaker volume and clarity are important to me and this was the worst on the Sony, even with dual speakers, the S6 and S7 had better volume and clarity..The Sony is a beautiful looking phone and feels like good quality, but so do the Samsungs...I am considering returning this Xperia as its really only equal to aGalaxy S6... IMHO

To me the best Sony were Xperia Z1 and Z3. I have the Z5 yeah. In both superior auto and manual you can pick from 8 to 23mp. Either in (16:9) 21 and 8mp, or (4:3) 23 or 8mp. I actually take photos in 8mp in superior auto at dusk and night. When there's enough light it's a shame not to take advantage of the full 23 or 21mp.

I have just check its page. There are many reviewer and almost all of them are satisfied, it means it sells very good, and its good phone. Especially after update the issue about ram mngmt is resolved. We could measure the sales of XP and op3 from gsma page, bcz the consumer of that two is mostly young male. Part 2 of 2 I would say the Z3 was better in that it had a bigger battery, but it doesn't make THAT much of a difference, esp if you enable Stamina Mode, which on my Z3 was super buggy so I couldn't use it, but on the XP it's finally been fixed. The areas where Samsung improved, Sony was already doing. Finally releasing a phone with a premium body (metal/glass)..........Sony had already been doing that for years. Samsung made their menu a little complicated than the S5's was, but it still is somewhat IMO, where Sony's menu is VERY easy to use and find options quickly. I also liked Samsung Pay. Very useful and reliable.

Part 1 of 2 I had the Z3 too. LOVED my Z3! My Z3 like when listening to music via MicroUSB port (headphones setup) would only "skip" (aka lag) once in a blue moon. Very infrequent. The S7........OMG......not only is its SINGLE speaker terrible, but it would skip while playing music like every 3-5 minutes! I did the same set up on my XP..........listened to music for 3-4 hours STRAIGHT........it didn't skip once! NOT ONCE. And I was paying attention too. I think you're basing that statement more off the many reviews on the XP vs the S7. I've had/have both phones, and not only is the XP better in terms of performance, it even outdoes the S7 on screen and camera quality as well (and it's nice that it does so in Superior Auto....... no longer need to go to Manual Mode like I did on the Z3 to get top-quality pics). Both are detailed, but the S7 (in typical Samsung fashion) tends to oversaturate colors, leaving an artificial look to them. So it is not as color accurate as the XP. Call quality........ my S7 was a locked T-Mobile phone with VoLTE & HD Voice. The XP b/c it's not from a carrier doesn't have these features (in other countries yes, but here in the US, though the phone is capable, they're both not activated here), YET when I talk on the phone using my XP, it sounds MUCH more clear to me than the compressed/tinniness of the S7.

On paper S7 looks better, but I've had BOTH phones, and I can tell you, it's NOT better than the XP. Even with 1 more GB of RAM, it still always LAGGED many times over the 3-4 mos I owned it, where the XP never lags. It's ridiculous that with that extra Gig of RAM it still couldn't keep up with XP. It's cuz of TouchWiz. It's AWFULLLLL! I would NEVER go back to Samsung over Sony, never. I had the S5 too and I remember being so unhappy with that one I only kept it for like 4 days before switching it for the HTC One M8.

Yeah, I CAN vouch for that one. I would use 23 MP but then I can't get landscape (16:9) photos, only portrait (4:3). But I prefer landscape, so I go with the 20.7 MP for that since that's the highest one available. When I back them up using Google Photos, I use the unlimited storage option, which downsizes the resolution to 16 MP. I don't really like that, but the fact is, I can never tell the difference b/t 16 and 20 MPs anyway (fortunately), so it's fine. The fact is, it was taken at 20.7 MPs, so the quality is still there. Kinda like if you take a Hi-Res file (i.e. 24-bit/96KHz) and downsize it to CD-Quality (16-bit, 44.1KHz). It's still gonna sound the same despite what most people think. A dog could maybe hear the difference but NO human can. The ones that say they can are full of sh*t. lol I'm sure if I downsize it to like 8 MPs I could see a difference, but at 16 it seems too close to 20.7 to notice.

It is their policy, they test every camera on 8 mpx automode, so the dx software can better measure differences. But yes, there is no approval of higher mpx camera value/advantage by any points in their scoring. That is a mistake on their behalf.... They measure pixel factors when giving score, yet do not value higher number of those same pixels for any score.... There is no match for X Performance in same percentage cropped picture quality(except some lumias), yet that fact is not awarded by any points. :-/

Actually I buy it because of hardware, of good offers and etc. I have bought s6 instead of Shperia5 because better battery, better camera, same performance, better looking edges :) PRICE . Yeah I'd read before it was really b/c they didn't want to pay the extra money for the patent. All it does is leave a bad taste in people's mouths. You can't claim to be the best but then withhold something as important (and popular) as a fingerprint sensor from your customers. If Sony Mobile (and Sony's CEO) had more balls 3-4 years ago, by now, they'd be in a MUCH different situation with regards to how well the Xperia line sells. Interesting article. Well just b/c they started seeing their shares "surge" doesn't mean Sony Mobile is off the hook. Instead of firing people, they SHOULD be hiring. Had they put more money in R&D, and also, ADVERTISING.......and releasing the phones ON TIME and THROUGH CARRIERS, they would've sold a TON of phones I'm sure. People are so seduced by Samsung and Apple, but I think overall Sony's Xperia line is better. But they have to make things perfect...........any issues with the phone have to be addressed IMMEDIATELY (i.e. past Stamina Mode issues). Sony Mobile's customer service sux too. If there's a problem or question, they usually don't offer much help. That needs to be changed. There is still MUCH work that needs to be done. Samsung gives a lot of promotions and an overall strong (though overrated IMO) line of flagship phones. Apple doesn't do promotions, but that's b/c they don't have to. They're Apple. I feel like Sony Mobile has MUCH more in common with Apple than Samsung, though more so in other countries. Here in the US, that's def not the case. Sony Mobile needs to make their phones and the experience of using them just AS EASY as it is using an iPhone. Of course, being an Android phone, that is much harder, but I think it can be done. A lot of ppl who have iPhones already say if they had to buy an Android it'd prob be Sony, at least reviewers I've read say that. It's about class. Samsung just recently got classy, but Apple and Sony have always been. My point here is Sony has to make everyone (esp here in the US) realize how great their phones are and that they have A LOT to offer. That only comes from doing everything I said above. He also fragments the business, so all business should be profitable by themselves not to rely on other lucrative business. The only good thing is tech sharing. It's not Sony mobile CEO to blame. He isn't as powerful as other ceo, like Apple CEO, or Xiaomi CEO. After finished Ericsson acquisition in 2012 they lost almost all their cash. Then Sony new CEO (more powerful than Sony mobile CEO) Kazuo Hirai came. We don't know exactly what happened there. What should he does is bailing sony mobile, so it can run the business properly. But he made cost cutting programe instead, n focused on profitable business, what a fatal mistake. Sony mobile cutted a lot cost in RD and marketing, and saved it for production dept.

Their phones are works of art and to me other phones just don't hold up. The only reason Samsung and Apple sell more phones is b/c they do a much better job of holding the public's interest by advertising, establishing a NAME & REPUTATION that ppl care about, etc. I think the FACT that HTC, Apple, & Samsung all use Sony's camera sensors says a lot about who REALLY is the king of smartphones. All I know is, no other line of phones amazes me like Sony's Xperia line does. It's like they built these phones after reading my mind. Just little features here & there (Smart Call Handling, Smart Connect, STEREO speakers on the FRONT where they f'ing belong), the style of the phone, the EASE of use (many have said Sony's phones are virtually STOCK or vanilla Android), the high class feel of it, etc. To me, they are the MASERATI of smartphones. I can say their phones are not really good, they are EXCELLENT. But the ppl running the show......... don't have a f'ing CLUE what they are doing. If I were running things, Sony's Xperia phones would be WAY more sought after than Apple or Samsung's phones are. They both make really nice phones, but they're both also OVERRATED too. Sony needs to stop hiding in the shadows and step back out and retake their seat at the throne. It doesn't suit me b/c the phone shouldn't skip while playing music every 3-5 min REGARDLESS of what setup I'm using (3.5mm port is ok though, just not via MicroUSB port), the sound quality of a phone this pricey should be stellar, but it's God awful. And even with VoLTE (which means HD Voice is included) it still sounds really bad during phone calls vs. my XP. TouchWiz lags like crazy............ so yeah, plenty of reasons to want power and not want the S7 over the XP. lol I do use my phone for web browsing, but not as much as on PC b/c I find it easier to web browse on my PC. Umm, I guess on IP location. Does my IP location show on this site? How do you know that I'm on my PC? Well yes and no. ONLY social media app I use is Snapchat. I only have ONE instant messenger app and that's Google Hangouts which of course comes with the phone. For texting I only use Textra as Google Messenger for some reason doesn't work well on the XP for MMS messages (where on my Z3 GM was the better of the two). I don't use any battery saving apps now, just Stamina Mode (now and then) since they appear to have FINALLY fixed it. But I WOULD use 360 Hibernation Master app again if it worked on the XP as AMAZINGLY as it did on ALL the Z series phones.

The s7 should give a high level experience with VR, Sammy pay, multitasking ability. But ya it looks like it doesn't suit you. You are unique, you said you're not kid and you don't like gaming. But you want powerful SoC. And it looks like you also never use your phone for web browsing. Since you owned S7 then got defective XP, and now get the replacement, your IP/location never change. Well it also has a BETTER screen too. It's more COLOR ACCURATE & BRIGHTER than the Z5. But hey, if you like your colors a bit off and a screen that can't get very bright, go for the Z5. With the NEW Stamina Mode, the battery life on my XP is just fine by me. Yeah the 4K thing is really no big deal. On a TV, yes. On a smartphone, no. Sammy does have their "moments" I guess (VR, Samsung Pay), but I had the S7 and no way do I think it's better than the XP. The speaker sound quality including phone call quality on that phone was beyond pathetic. I don't even have VoLTE on my XP (not avail if using a US carrier I guess, but other countries offer it) and it STILL sounds better during phone calls! It lagged a lot despite having 1 more GB of RAM, it too was less color accurate than the XP's camera (and screen), etc. I'll prob NEVER buy another Samsung again. S5 was a letdown and although S7 was a huge upgrade it still wasn't good enough for me. Headphone listening via MicroUSB port on S7 resulted in music skipping like every 3-5 minutes. On XP I went 3-4 hours STRAIGHT one night a couple weeks ago, and it didn't even skip ONCE. NOT ONCE.

Z5P is better than XP IMO, better design/more stylish, better feature, better battery, all that 'better' are more important than a 'slightly better camera. but ya if you're kid and love gaming better choose XP. I agree 4K screen on Z5P is overrated, many say gimmick. It looks like Sony don't know its potential. LG outed 2K screen first, but its Sammy that know the potential, they worked with oculus, that resulted gear VR and gear VR apps. and now all vendor copy them, even Google copy them.

The frame IS polycarbonate (or plastic), but that is a GOOD thing b/c it means less interference and better reception. The back IS metal though for sure. And front is glass.

It's not worse, it's actually BETTER in several ways. 4K screen on Z5P was overrated b/c most of the time it wasn't ACTUALLY IN 4K anyway. It was just "4K-capable". See this video then understand. Camera & screen are BETTER than Z5P. Z5P had a bigger battery and prob somewhat better battery life, but it was also A BIG PHABLET PHONE. lol Battery life on XP is just fine. Not THE BEST like Z3, but especially with Stamina Mode it's just fine.

Ok , I just mentioned it in case you didn't saw it , I know about Z1s but never saw it in person only normal Z1 ... I doubt that is the case with this one and IF panel at the bottom on the back is for antenna and not some Japanese variant like Xperia X Performance which has the same panel at the back then we can safely assume with almost certain that is all metal. otherwise either poly-carbonate sides OR back would need to be glass OR metal with plastic band antenna stripes like on iPhone and HTC phones . That looks fairly thick phone like HTC 10 8-9 mm and with SONY engineering it should have enough space for at least 3000-3200 mAh and that's minimum imo ,unless there is some new pieces of hardware inside... and actually I have yet to see what takes all that space in xperia xp because SONY where managing to put bigger battery units before with same amount of hardware parts in the same or even smaller phones so it's too early speak about this one which is not even out yet . and the leak appeared first here on GA so the what you can read in the article is probably all info you can find for now ... I will take look on that article and let you know what I think in next reply .,. + also it just come to my mind that top and bottom flat pieces could be plastic to serve as antenna windows ( explains why top and bottom is flat and why there is barely any curve at the corners ) .

So wait, is the frame polycarbonate on this new one too, or is metal?? I know the polycarbonate frame helps improve antenna reception, so I'd rather have that, which is what the XP has. Nothing wrong with them if those bezels are used for front facing stereo speakers , two large camera sensors ( preventing camera bump) , and if both top and bottom bezels are in balance giving it nice clean look and place to comfortable hold your thumbs when using phone in landscape mode while the device is keeping 70% screen-to-body ratio . downsides of too small bezels are that you all the time keep pressing touchscreen and if phone has capacitive buttons then it's even worse .

This is better design than XP, even if XP looks so much better. As I said before XP design isn't good if not the w6rst. The space for antennas is too small, all the chips like GPS, transceiver, WiFi etc are placed behind metal without antenna lines which is bad. Like or not that new phone has better design, there is enough space for antennas. But yes it is not a good looking device.

The best? Of course Sony! Their flagship model phones are the greatest overall IMO. Samsung S7's battery life and especially camera can't compete. Speaker on S7 is a sad joke compared to XP's STEREO speakers. TouchWiz is also a big joke b/c even with the S7 having 1 more GB of RAM than the XP, the XP STILL runs more smoothly.

Its best choice, there are only 3 modern metal design, Metal dual glass ala iphone 4, metal frame with metal back with plastic/glass on top an bottom ala iphone 5, and full metal body like on iPhone 6. At first they planned to use full metal unibody design, there was a leaked metal S6 unibody prototype. But it will make it looks very much like iPhone 6. So, it's better to use dual glass design/copy Sony. Its prettier without ugly antenna line on the back. But finally they used it for C series. But anyway S7 design is much better. The frame and mid frame is made of one piece high quality aluminium, there is antena line on top and bottom frame to make sure dead grip never happen, while Z5s frame and mid frame are screwed, that's very much like Mi5, that's why it bends easily. Btw, S4 is the most successful samny phone. Not S7.

uhhh...Xperia X performance is still better than one plus 3 and xiaomi. Those phone can't compare to sony. plus, 3gb ram is enough for apps to run smooth and 2700mah is good enough cause Sony got superior stamina mode. (It's hibernation, not hybernation) 360 worked great on Z3, Z5, even Z1s........ but on new XP initially it seemed to work but now since I got my replacement (1st one was defective), it doesn't seem to work anymore. I e-mailed the developer but haven't heard back yet, so who knows if it will ever work or not. I guess just b/c it worked before is never a guarantee it will on newer models. Sux but oh well. Also tried another one called Hibernation Master but didn't work either. Greenify says it will only work automatically if I remove my fingerprint security and use "pull-up gesture" to unlock the phone. No thanks. lol Not sure what other good apps are out there that would work.

I also bought X Performance yesterday, it is nice phone. The thing which irritates me a lot is the on screen keys. Those cover the bottom of the screen while browsing due to this the screen size becomes small as compare to Samsung S7 and iPhone 6s. I am not comparing the whole screen size but only the size while browsing. Over all its good looking phone. Will compare the battery timing after a week or two.

What he point out is indeed right. Even compare to S7 (not the edge), S7 still be a much attractive choice over this Xperia X Performance. You can argue 2K screen is not necessary, but AMOLED screen won't be unnecessary. With bigger battery, waterproof, more RAM, certainly it is "more". At least Samsung S7 has something "more" for the price you paid. HTC M10 and Sony Xperia X Performance on the other hand, more closely related to Xiaomi Mi5 on very thing, and also Oneplus 3.

True. Edge has QHD screen, it makes it a little slower( still faster than xp tough), but it good for VR. Sammy also provide VR app and a VR headset. With all top end components, better RAM. Premium build, no plastic. High end features, wireless charging, again QHD screen better for VR, expensive edge screen/means its costy bcz it needs a new plate, and new applier machines. Yes, XP performs good, but with all lower class component, less RAM, lower res screen, plastic build it should be priced much lower than edge. Bcz edge is far costlier to build than xp, its like everest vs benhill.

Omg, have had quite a good laugh at all the negative reviews on this forum against the x performance, to me it seems like everyone on here slagging it off are galaxy s7 owners with either a regret of buying Samsung or just nothing better in their lives worth doing. At the end of the day it is a phone and has great spec and camera. I have the xperia zr which I had for over 3 years, dropped it, kicked it and dunked it, still going strong just like the day it arrived. Poor popular vendor. I think the next vendor to make nexus will be zte. ZTE also has better skill, I have bad experience with its product in the past, mifi for my wifi only tablet. I believe they have improve a lot. They always in big 5 in US. ZTE has good relation with Google. Axon 7 is the first device to support daydream. It also great device, not the most beautiful but the closest to luxury. And probably the best stereo speaker. Don't forget. They also have good software skills. When Sammy eye recognition is still a rumor. They already have the phone with that tech. Last year Nubia z9 also great device, edge screen with proper software.

Sony keeps its standards and innovates in all areas including screen, sound, camera, software, design, build, battery ;-) Even google copies some stuff from Sony, like app design for ex... Yea.. my country included on the list of de-focused sell.. Sony's bad sell in my country mainly because of two things: 1. Very bad after sale service. They always make excuses to reject our RMA, and even if accepted, we still have to wait for at least 6-9 months before we receive the phone back. At least that is what I heard.... because personally, I never had any problem with Sony before, even my 3 YO Xperia phone still alive and kickin. 2. Very high tax. Aside from Sony's already ridiculous high price, we also need to pay up to 38% import tax, then 10% corporate income tax. So, we need to pay flagship price only to get a midranger device here. That makes the ultra cheap low end Chinese phones looks very compelling. Design wise... I'm fallen in love to the simple yet premium feel omnibalance design at first sight. But sadly, spec and function is more important to me... But, if only this phone has similar spec to the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, then I'd be willing to pay the extra cost anytime...

Its quite obvious, most revs on web keep it on 8 mpx, despite 23mpx available in auto. They use the shutter button without first step autofocus, despite software button usage producing better results with better autofocus and less blurr (try it out and see). And then they crop it at least 200% to come to noticeable noise. And its always about the noise only, never about detail, color, ghosting, noise reduction artefacts, etc. And therefore so much difference in Xperia camera revs. Manilla shaker is one of few revs that actually uses sony camera properly in auto, without tricks, soft button with prefocus 23 mpx in daylight, lower mpx set in lowlight as it produces better results. He gives 200% crops for all the same as to see differences in detail and noise, and offers 1:1 shots alongside compared to a dslr camera. In video he actually presents stabilisation performance of video rec in auto for daylight and night shooting, as mostly people actually are mobile while recording video with their mobile phone cameras.... My own compares: I use same scenario shots if available, on 100% and sometimes up to 200% crops(where you start seeing grain) and Sony always looks better because of bigher mpx count. Dont know any person that crops their shots more than 100% though, for any a good reason, ever.

And I heard you can use something called Flashtool on the US XP that would allow you to flash the int'l firmware on it to make the fingerprint scanner work. Doesn't require unlocking the bootloader or rooting either.

Look up manila shaker compare with x performance. Obviously best camera at daylight, best for video for its.stabilisation in daylight and lowlight, in lowlight photo at 200% ( 200 mind you) grain is noticable, but in 1:1 and 100% crop even, bests them all, even in lowlight and night shots, having best iso and color reproduction ;-) Talking about automode.of course ;-)

Not really "fixed" Bagas.........but at least it's been IDENTIFIED! The T-Mobile SIM cards are causing this. NOTHING ELSE. Plain and simple. Until a fix is made by Sony, just use the Contacts+ app. It's really not a big deal like I initially thought. Still, I'd rather see it resolved then left lingering. But it really doesn't cause any issues.

Already tried that.......... doesn't work. It's THE T-MOBILE SIM CARD that's causing it. Take the T-Mo SIM card out, and it's fine. Put it back in, not fine. lol I'm hoping Sony will create a fix for it soon and get it resolved. But really it's not a big deal......just use the Contacts+ app from Play Store and you're good to go anyway.

well i had my own solution now. i sign up new google account, cuz i dont need to keep nothing. For a while i do the ,you know procedures of getting a new phone. one by one and realize my old google account i sign in didnt let me dial numbers. danggg, i almost hate this phone, went thru so so many settings, but oh well its cool now. My way for jus me, make new google account. btw went from the premium and to this x battery goes down fast, i know, but felt like i downgrade with all the cons

Tann, Team, etc., I just called T-Mobile and their Tech Support Dept tried but couldn't offer any solution. I guess for now I'll just use my Contacts+ app and for calls my CallApp app until Sony hopefully can get an update fix sent out to resolve this issue. I guess it's really not a big deal, but would prefer to not have the issue occur at all if I could. So again, if you have a T-Mobile SIM card, you will have an issue editing your contacts using the STOCK Contacts app. But using the Contacts+ app above can get you around it. CallApp is more for calls but still you can view your contacts with it too, plus it offers an advanced caller ID option. Advanced because it uses social media to figure out who's calling you. Pretty cool actually.

Hey Tann & Team, A tech rep from the seller who sold me my phone called me earlier and we figured out that when using a T-MOBILE SIM card, THIS issue occurs. When I take the T-Mobile SIM out, the issue goes away. When using an AT&T SIM card, NO issue. I'm gonna contact T-Mobile to see if they have a fix for this. My SIM is a couple years old so MAYBE I just need a newer one??

You have code issue... From what kind of contacts did you import from? Some phones use different code for their contacts, so contact app might not be compatible and crashes What is your contact tranfer file type? Did you use Xperia transfer? Did you add your account in the contacts options?

Anonymous, UPDATE: The phone came to me from the seller already pre-set (booted up right to home screen first time). This was weird but the Contacts app was working. I then factory reset the phone to make sure it was fixed, and now the Contacts app issue came back! I e-mailed the seller to see what they did since phone was already set up when I got it. I hope to hear back soon. Sony prob will fix this bug issue via an update at some point, but who knows when? Hopefully soon. If my seller can help me resolve it though, I'll post here.

hey Anonymous, I had the SAME issue too. Even a factory reset wouldn't fix it. I just sent it back and got the replacement today. The stock Contacts app WORKS!!! I would send it back for a replacement ASAP. I also recommend Contacts + if u don't want to return it. I also use CallApp as my main phone call dialer. LOVE It! NFC location on front is absolutely no prob since nfc can read cards up to 4 cm distance.... Do not read into disinfo revs from haters. Camera is best, trust your own eyes and examination, not subjective revs and comments. 4k is there, either through open camera app, or via root. Batterylife could be better, and probably will be with updates, but its good even as it is. Qnovo is what counts. Screen is one of best ips lcds out there, look up on yt. Sound system is most complete with best added features. Price is good for a prem OEM device with constant updates, as supposed to cheaper ones with lame support. Performance of the device is flawless, native apps are best there is.

Yep, that guy said exactly so. 4k IS inside X Performance (probably X too), but there is .apk file in root vendor subsystem, that disables it. One just needs to delete that .apk file, and 4k option will be there available in camera app. He also stated that you CAN record 4k video without root, by 3rd arty camera apps that offer it. He tried out 4k with Open camera app, and said it works.
