A stylish & bulletproof phone. The case is made out of Titanium and trimmed in hand stitched leather. The scratch resistant screen is made of sapphire crystal (the same that protect the movement of Rolex watches). The phone is heavy and sturdy. This is a PHONE, not a toy for teenagers to tweet, facebook and web surf. It is for people who actually want to use an electronic device to TALK (what a novel idea!). It does have web capabilities. But it lacks a lot of utility, as there is no GPS to allow for the use of mapping/directional applications. The web feature is for casual users. The "layers" of the menus are not configured in any logical manner. Awkward to use and navigate. There is no web page interface for users to configure their phone, email, contacts, etc., and download them to the phone. The support & sync software is all formatted for PC's. They do not support MAC or Linux - a dumb move, as they easily could have just developed a browser based interface. The memory is built in and it cannot be increased (no memory card). The sim card is easily accessed for exchanging (international travelers). This phone is not designed to be a disposable phone, rather it can be upgraded as technology improves. A Version 1 to Version 3 update, cost me $1100. $300 was just for laser etching a new label inside of the phone!! Accessories are only available through VERTU dealers, as the connection to the phone are proprietary (no generic charger available at WalMart!). Their wall charges are poorly designed, as the cord has a twist cam lock into the voltage transformer. The cams are tiny little plastic pins that quickly get mashed & broken - there goes a $300 charger! Batteries are 10X the going market rate, but smart owners quickly figure out that some Nokia batteries will fit. This phone should last anyone a lifetime. But, there was not a lot of thought placed into the ability to upgrade, navigate and interface with it. VERTU shafts their owners at every turn with over priced accessories, limited web access, no after purchase support, and they lack easy interface menus. VERTU dropped the ball on this one!

I cannot believe that someone would purchase a phone like this. People on here who say they own this phone are backing it up with ridiculous excuses like "It saved me $3000 on a boat cruise" get f*cked, if you're booking a cruise that has a overhead cost over $3000+ then 1. You're some snooty million air, the $3000 you saved will probably be blown away on champagne lobsters or 2. You're an idiot and you would normally pay $10000 to go on a cruise. Has anyone dealt with Luxmobiles.com? I have recently made a purchase from them of a replica Vertu Ascent. I got a phone that was not a 1:1 replica as they advertised, as a friend of mine has the real thing. They sent the phone without a battery and without a charger. It is totally worthless. I have bought the Vertu Signature, the Ascent, and the Ascent TI. I can honestly tell you that this phone is by FAR the best and most luxurious phone I have ever used. From the box to the phone itself....The Vertu Concierge is fabulous as well....I must warn you, though... The phone starts at $5,000.... for those who can afford it, it is absolutely fabulous!

I have listed before on here stating that the reason people buy this type of phone is the service you receive. Again Vertu have excelled as I spoke to them on Friday about the battery in my phone that is now 3 years old. I couldnt locate one close to me and they have sent me one FOC to get the phone up and running. What other company would do the same with no questions asked. Its like everything in this world. If you want the best you pay for it. How many people on here have a phone that is 3 years old, is 100% orignal and still looks new. Build a better phone and it will outlast nearly every other phone on the market. I have no doubt that unlike most peoples phones, this phone will still be going strong for another few years and and when you work out the cost of buying your state of the art, all singing and dancing phones over a 3 year period then the cost becomes blured and you end up paying as much as you would for one vertu phone. Of course most people will never hold let alone own a genuine Vertu so have a view based on nothing more than envy.As a final note, I used the concerige service once to book a cruise, more out of curiosity than anything else and they saved me in excess of �3000 on the cost I would have paid. In theory, Vertu paid for the phone for me with the saving and I still have the same phone as I had 3 years ago and it still does what a phone should do!!

Why do so many people on here write comments yet not own this or many other phones but feel the need to knock it and any other expensive item. I can only asume that it is because they cant afford the real thing so buy a chep copy that fails after a few weeks then come on here for a good old moan. I am on my second GENUINE Vertu and it is by far the best brand of phone on the market. Over 4 years of trouble free use, my orignal looked as good as it did when it was new even though it was 3 years old and my second feels even better and I expect it to last for a good few years. Now for all the idiots who dont own or cant afford one of these phones or any other item thats out of their price range, here is a little info. People who buy this type of phone have no need to show it off to their friends as they have made something of their lives and content to buy the best for both qualtity and service. People who moan about it are failed wanabees who want the best but when they cant afford it have two choices, steal or complain. I buy because I like it and if I can afford it then fine, if not I save up. Thats very novel as most or the cretins on here no doubt have credit card bills that would shame the Bank of England!!

The reason Vertu is expensive is because of the services they give. There's a number for vertu users exclusively where you call the operator and can book anything from restaurant reservations to plane tickets anywhere in the world, wherever you are. The screens are made from a special material that will not scratch or crack, and some of these vertus are actual made from gold / silver, etc for status. Well, it's kinda a rich man's toy.

Virtu Ascent, is a phone that only supports polyphonic ringtones, which is a technology backed 5 years ago. with the price of this phone, it should have hologram embedded to it! secondly, it doesn't look as good as phones coming from Nokia, SE, Motorola or even Siemens. well if you like a designer phone, get a louis vutton nokia 7200 or the new motorola v3i D&G (Dolce & Gabbana) phone. thirdly, It have no wireless functions, nor does it have touch screen or can't even read PDF or Word Documents correctly. Doesn't have voice recognition, mp3 player...for all those functions you can get a phone that does all that for only $1000 ... So if you are buying this phone, and selling for that price..make it a better quality, better functions, or some better design that tells people straight away, that this phone worth every penny! --------------------------------------------- i agree with what this guy said. this phone is a piece of crap. n95 beats it

I'd love to buy a Ascent Ti. The phone is fantastic looking and looks quality with the range of materials used in the manufacture. The issue however is not the price tag. I'd happily stretch to that. The issue is the lack of features. I use a Nokia n95 8Gb. A lot of users care about what the phone can do. I'd happily pay Vertu another �1000 on top of the existing price if they could make it do what my n95 does, and make it look so good? How about taking a Nokia n82 and squeezing it into a Ascent casing...Perfection! Its that same ole same ole mobile phone story... You have to choose. You can't have it both ways. Style or functionality. I can't comment on the concierge as I've never used it but it could potentially save me �300 a month on my existing service.

I like the Vertu series, because there like Rolex, Rolls Royce , and other luxury brands , but for a mobile. The only part I don't like is that it's a tad bit thick for my taste, but that gets ignored when you have a luxury brand phone.

Yeah, the phone is ok. What I don't like about it is that the volume key is kinda small. But I'll get used to it. Another cool thing is that it has buttons and a cool LCD. I have three of these, (three colors), and I'm shipping one to my 6 year old nephew for him to toy wit it.

I drive a Toyota Camry & not Bugattis, Ferraris, Bentleys, etc like some of the guys here claim but I happenned to own a Vertu Signature which I bought used (& cheap) from an auction site & I also own a Rolex watch & a Mont Blanc pen. Vertu phones are for people who understand things like these. Rolex watches cannot do as much tricks as a Casio G-Shock despite being many times dearer. Writing from a Mont Blanc pen is only as good as your handwriting. But these are the things that you decorate yourself with. People who worship built-in cameras & whine over pixel count shouldn't even be looking at Vertus. By the way, genuinely rich people do not to brag here.

Everyone keeps yapping how they hate or love this forasken Vertu. I love this mobile gadget, because I have it as one of my mobile collection fetish! However the fact maybe, this phone suck donkeyballs. I just use it to show off that I am talking to someone at club so a girl can notice my impotance, but it does no good to me. If you drive a Mercedes or Bentley buy it to increase your penile size, but If you drive Hyundai or an Opel, please buy something that's not more than your automobile sticker price..... I am using this phone to poke at females so far my luck is not doing so well in that department

Like I said on previous statement the phone is a good luxury phone for the people who really don�t give a care about technology, and are not mobile tech geeks, and just like owning or driving a luxury automobile, this phone fits the tier or luxury items for discerning taste. The phone however in the US wireless arena; this phone provides the best concierge with its private concierge 411 you can get world wide from Vertu. As a agent for a media firm, I have used this phone and its concierge service by far hands down is the best world wide. I have used this for almost 4 years now as a company phone and it has paid off. No break up calls here. Clear and easy platform. Not allot of gadgets implemented on this platform. Simple and elegant, like Bentley GT Continental. Like a Rolex or fine jewelry watch this phone will never depreciate. But like I said, I own this phone as a work phone to contact my clients and that all I use it for otherwise the phone I would recommend for a day to day phone is Nokia n70. It�s one the best next to Virtue. Virtue is just used for 411 concierges not technology. Trust me Virtue is only recognizable when someone knows Luxury and about this brand, otherwise it�s not a magnet for attention. I got more attention using a Samsung d500 at a club in Hollywood from a celebrity client of mine than that of the Virtue 3 years ago. Virtue reminds me of Nokia 2110 series when Cell phone first came out, everyone recognize you, but seriously, I would not recommend it, be practical and use a phone you can afford.

To tell you the truth it is a good phone, but the US mark up is ridiculous, and the technology is 4 years old. It has no features in comparison with it's cheaper siblings, and other features all that significantly make this phone stand out,is it's design. Otherwise don't buy it

So I have read some comments. The post "The same old story" comes into focus. Now let's see if this phone is the same old thing. This phone may not deserve as much as credit as some people think, but I do not for one moment, think this phone isn't the value for its money. You say there are other "alternatives" in the market. Of course there are. Of course there are much cheaper, feature packed handsets waiting to be fuddled and used around. But this phone has character, its own characteristics and style. If you say, "NO, this phone doesn't deserve to be that expensive, it's not worth for its money." Then, are you a person who'd rather shop from Primark, Asda and Hyper Value rather than La Coste or DG? Because mark my words, those 'cheaper' shops do have clothes of similar quality. So I believe the Vertu and the other feature-packed phones, are similar comparison to clothes, shoes, watches, and everything else we buy.

I got my Vertu Acent in brown leather about 1 month ago and love it. I used to have a O2 XDA IIs which was a phone with all the bells and whistles. I thought I wouldnt like it as it doesnt have many features. No camera, no games, no music. But what it lacks in features is makes in style. Its amazing to look at and hold. Quite heavy but then you know its down to the quality of materials. A serious talking point whereever I go. People are amazed by it, and even more amazed when they hold. There is no logical reason to own this phone, but thats the same with any luxury items. The concierge service is exellant. Went out a few weekends ago to Central London, 17 people in total. Called them up at 7:30 to tell them to book us a table at Maroush Knightsbridge for 8pm! Summer time in London on a Saturday night and normally the restaurants would tell you no. That place was not available for 17 people but vertu automatically booked us in another Maroush on Edgeware Road and called me back to tell me. Hows that for service! The only down side is that the wife liked it so much she wanted one of her own. So last week I bought her the Ascent in Pink which is a special edition colour. Starting price is �2900 which includes concierge for 1 year. I'll probably keep this for about 3 years now, and judging by the quality it will probably last! Worth every penny.

To tell you the truth, i know it's an expensive phone. Vertu just brought out three different limited editions... Azure, Pink and White. I got the Pink Ascent for my girlfriend and guess what... SHE LOVES IT! i got my self the White Edition, really nice. Simple, but so cool. 4Gs for "a" phone, so, yeah, it is expensive, but it it worth it!

I just bought a Ascent and love my phone! Nobody uses, wap, 3g and all those crazy extras. On the vertu you can call, send sms's and for the most complicated people you can recieve and send emails. In my opinon it looks even better then the signature! Why buy a rolex when you can buy a vertu? A rolex will tell you time, but a vertu will tell you time and let you call people :)

I purchased this phone via the Chamber of Commerce on a special deal �200 off. I like the phone very much. I have the Silverstone Limited Edition version. It reminds me of the gentlemans era of F1. My friend Pertulia dislikes the phone altogether questioning it's relevance for the price. But I think one gains more pleasure from possesion that many things in life. I own this phone as it was available and so too was the money. The concierge option is excellent. I used it once to test it's worth. When I went to Monte Carlo last week, my daughter Mia-Alicia used it to ask which number to place last chip on, they laughed and said put it on Even. IT DID! - She doubled her money and brought her own. Excellent phone. Don't be ashamed to buy it and have people put you down. It makes me happy to own it, it will with you too.

I have a vertu ascent and ppl laugh at me for buying this phone.But when i ask them back why do you own a red arowana for the same price? Or a japanese koi for price of a Vertu signature or a high end hifi set with gold cable when a cheap japan made mini component sound the same or a film type camera with lens n flash tat cost thousands of dollars when a simple cheap digital camera only cost hundreds??? At least i know my vertu can make phonecalls and save my life 1 day in an emergency!!:-))

It works as a phone. If the price is high, it's because of the cost of production and it's "supply and demand". It looks like a heavy candy bar nokia phone. You can like it, hate it or be neutral, but it's a reliable phone, the acoustics are great and it has a concierge service. Great for those who need it.

hi i have the blue version of this phones it feels really good to the touch and is sturdy. the sound quality is really good, and the concierge service is awesome, i call them all the time for anything from pizza to plane tickets, and they are really friendly people, although the phone doesnt have super high end features i still love it.

Expensive is a relative term. Are you aware that there are wrist watches worth US$3.000.000? And cars worth US$12.000.000? These phones are objects of desire and nothing more. They appeal to those who can appreciate the finest things in life so stop whining about the price. If they weren't so expensive they would lose all their exclusivity. I have a black Ascent and I'm always looking forward to touching it and feeling this impecable sense of quality. If you can afford it, go for it. Forget about the features. Do you REALLY need them?

vertu is a sub-company of nokia which is focused on making phones used with the finest materials available. it is a luxury phone (like that of a car) and must never be judged by its lack of features. the money spent here goes to the ruby bearings, finest leathers, and liquidmetal which is toughest than aerospace metals. People who simply cannot afford the phone should stop whining about it being a waste of money because every centavo spent is centavo well spent on this phone. i have a problem though, it is currently unavailable here in the philippines and a few reviews were made. is there an owner out there? where did you buy it? This phone has basic functions. It makes calls and it recieves calls. It does that fine. The speakers are good. Although you cannot use amr files as ring tones, the standard ones are very pretty and nice to listen to. In my humble opinion, better than "crazy frog". The phone itself is very solid and beautifully made. Like one of the other reviews, it is heavy and you can use it like a weapon. Is that a bad thing? Probably not, especially if you live in central London. It is not for technophiles, it does not have a camera, it does make your espresso, but it does get you reservations in some rather nice restaraunts, not neccessarily expensive, just nice. The craftsmen who make this phone are proud of their work. Give them an applause for hard work. But even they laugh at the price. THAT.... is funny. But then, life should be funny. Enjoy! If you have one, what is the harm in that? Please stop dissing something that is expensive just because it is. Are you jealous or just not very happy? People should be allowed to do what they like as long as they don't harm anyone else. It's a good phone with a concierge service. So what? If it works for you, then go for it. These phones have really improved on the first release. The only feature missing is the camera, but that misses the point of a Vertu as they use mature technology rather than the latest technology. Is a 2 megapixel camera worth having? The build quality and sound make the weight worth it. I saw the latest phones in Selfridges and the sales staff there really knew their stuff. I used to go to my local jewellery store but they tried to offload the old phone on me, so I think it is worth going to the main dealers.

It's around 3800$ US. The concierge service is free for a year, and then 800$/year thereafter. The Signature is the Platinum/Gold/Silver/Steel phone, which starts at around 5500$ and goes up. I think the platinum version is in the 20,000s, but I'm not positive.
