Xiaomi Mi 9 SE - User Reviews

  • when is it launching in India?

  • They are too big so they aren't a relative competition to Mi 9 SE.

  • If you want a compact phone with good specs, there is good alternative.

  • Yes

  • yeah sd730G & 64mp quad, 4000mah, 30W fast sd712 & 48mp triple, 4500mah, 22.5W fast

  • don't buy this or mi 8 se they r already done disaster battery, no sd card, no 3.5mm jack go for these dedicated sd card, 3.5mm jack, good battery, super amoled, sd712, indisplay finger, 48 & 64 camera & etc too much better choices same price

  • How much internal memory does it have? The 64gb one how much system apps memory take u understand me bad english

  • And do you get now notifications on AOD for Gmail, Viber, WA, SMS...?

  • Yeah I think so. If thats true i would not consider buying Xiaomi brand for my next phone. I need my apps keep running on background to do my work.

  • Yes

  • Phone heating while charging upto 80%

  • I've got MIUI 11

  • quoting baga chipz, much better. they stay on the status bar.

  • Got miui 11 today

  • Notifications stay on the status bar. I'm hiding notch without moving the status bar so it looks much better now. Unfortunetly, the round is just too much :(

  • I buy mi 9 se in august 2019 and after 2 month my phone software update problem than I give to my phone to service center now my phone is dead totally weste of money

  • And what's the situation with notifications, are they better now?

  • Very happy with the MIUI 11 update..

  • I got miui 11 official update OTA today, very cool. HOWEVER, it's still based on android 9 :( why

  • Are you sure about not getting Mi 9 SE for Canada/US? I have the Xiaomi Mi A1 and it has fewer bands than the 9 SE, but I've had no problems with different carriers in Canada

  • My mi 9se have a really weak vibration. It's impossible to notice when it is in my pocket. Has anyone noticed that?

  • Don't get the Mi 9T or 9SE for US/Canada, it doesn't support many 4G bands there.

  • Someone I’m acquainted with owns a 9T and he said it works just fine for him; sure, you won’t get the best LTE in the world, but hey at least it works. Btw I live in the US.

  • This is due to the heavy battery management

  • The only problem i had with this smartphone is the multitasking is not good as it always randomly closes background apps. My other previous Android phones had no such issue but this phone(Mi 9 SE) even with 6GB RAM are not good for running multiple apps at once. Anyone else had this problem like me?

  • that's on all Xiaomi devices using MIUI. They will appear for a short time in the status bar, but then they will disappear again. There is an app to always show them, but I got used to it how it is

  • I love this phone👍👍👍

  • Is mi 9se available is India & price?

  • Xiaomi..no ban issue.

  • In general, the 9T is better, check the specs

  • Define "better". What's important for you?

  • How about notification, on display and notification bar?

  • Hi everyone please help me I'm stucked between mi 9se and mi 9t Which one is better?

  • I thought the P30 lite was more expensive than the Mi 9 SE!? Still get the Mi, it has a better camera and an OLED Display

  • everything is fine :)

  • Are there any issues on xiaomi mi 9 se after months of usage? is the battery life still the same?

  • Huawei p30 lite battery much better than mi 9se but in term of beauty mi 9se much beautiful.

  • Xiaomi Mi 9 SE at 280€ or Huawei P30 lite at 180€? I was thinking about keeping the phone for about 3 to 4 years at least.

  • Huawei P30 lite at 180€ or Xiaomi Mi 9 SE at 280€? Considering that I would like the phone to last 4 years give or take...

  • How to enable notification on aod, like flashscore

  • yes, same rom mostly. user can use double accounts for most apps

  • If size and spec would be like LG g8 I will buy it but now it's to small and battery to weak

  • Yes please!

  • Really? Is your unit have a bug issue?

  • The phone is quite good. There is only one disappointment: it has very low volume when you speak without headset. I wouldn't by this phone second time

  • True that.

  • You can safely use in rain. But, you can't submerge under water.

  • Please please add band 12 and 17 to all your phones so us Americans can buy Xiaomi phones too.i really wanted to buy this or 9t.

  • Why? Why? Why Xiaomi? Why not in India?

  • seriuosly? wanna to buy this phone

  • That's a wide known defect of the phone. Ask for replacement as soon as possible. my first mi 9 se that i've got also have that blue lines at the bottom left of the screen. it is not noticeable when you normally using it but when direct sunlight hits it and the much higher contrast triggers, that's the time that the blue line is appearing. also reported by some users of mi 9 se in the mi 9 se group in facebook. Ask for replacement before its too late.

  • 2G capabilities GSM 900, GSM 1800 3G capabilities UMTS 850, UMTS 900, UMTS 2100 4G capabilities LTE 850, LTE 1800, LTE 2100 that's the only band here in Philippines

  • no LTE band 28(700) :-( very crutial band in the Philippines for high speed data.

  • Hello, i just reed your personal REVIEW about Mi9 se. I think the same, almost with your same words. I been using mi5 for 3 years and I love it. The SIZE and Weight is the best for me. When I say the Mi9se , I say that is a good phone. So I went to XIAOMI store in Mexico City and I grab the Phone. I compere with Mi5 and I say... shit I'm gonna need to BUY it. Almost the same size with Mi5. I been playing with it for 5 days. I love it. The only REAL issue that I have. " notifications I do not care, I use my Watch Frontier " Is when I write fast, the Mi9se have a little lag, no like POCO but I feel it. I gonna tray to write slow :P. with Mi5 I can write very very fast with any Keyboard app. Also I test the Poco for 3 days and I sent it back, because you cant Write quickly, ether write very fast. Well, we can only hope that in the future they will solve these problems. Thanks . Fernando O.

  • Just because it isn't a 4000mah it doesn't mean it's bad lmao

  • totally agree. You can't loose the 3.5mm adaptor if you keep it on your headphones. And it's actually very good at gaming (highest or second highest settings). Also, it charges very fast as you probably have noticed. And as it is the only newer phone under 6 inches with good specs (except of the far more expensive S10e), we don't really have a choice.

  • I like this phone but the SAR value is more than disturbing. "SAR 1.39 W/kg (head) 1.39 W/kg (body)" why should this phone have a higher SAR values than the Mi9?!?

  • Bought the phone 3 weeks ago, before this I always had the sony Xperia compact series which discontinued. I was aiming at a comparable quality as Snapdragon 675 - 855 processor, with a width of 70mm and not taller than 15cm. I wanted a 6gb, Android one with an Ultra wide and telephoto lens (for night photography) and more than 85% of screen to body ratio. The Mi A3 had a 665 processor and no Telephoto lens. The Pixel 3A has an old design and only 1 good camera. +- The size is oke, but it would be perfect if it was between 5,6' and 5,8' (7 x 14cm) - The battery could be better! Make it a little bit fat, instead of 7.5mm make it upto 9mm with the same edges (safety for the screen and it has a nice grip) + I am not a gamer... The 712 processor, with 6gb RAM, is good enough for daily things. + Quick ball, no buttons, and some other adjustable short cut options (like Oneplus and Motoral, nice feature) - I use Google Go, but the standard browser is a Mi Browser. Don't know how to turn this off! + Xiaomi has a dark mode, which is handy because of the battery (which can be used for 20/28 hours) - No Notification Light!!! - No SD card (always try to make directly a backup of your valuable pictures. Normally my Music will be stored on the SD card instead of Phone). - No 3,5mm (Bluetooth increases the power consumption and 3.5 mm less, Xiaomi gave a USB C > 3.5mm adapter, but you can lose it) If Xiaomi makes a Mi 11/12 SE/T with some nice options (Quick ball, battery saver mode): SD card, 3,5mm, Notification light, newest and best 700+ processor, good camera (Ultra-wide, telephoto (& pop-up > selfie < useless for me, rather have a full screen). And a bit more like motorala/oneplus/ android one style software, With a 5.6/5.8'' & a battery that lasts at least 28h.... I will continue to buy a phone from this Chinese brand. Because the price-quality is good BTW Keep in mind: I don't play games or watch movies/shows etc on my phone. I use it to socialize (social media (everything except IG) and telephoning), make notes, check my email, navigation, read news, etc. In the Netherlands, we don't have ads on the software, therefore I can recommend it (for 290 euro, 64gb). A phone with ads or bad ergonomics or other daily functions which arent working perfectly isn't worth your money.

  • sony imx586

  • It is up to you. If u like stock android them moto, if not go to mi 9se BTW, i would recommend nokia or any other android one device such as xiaomi as motorola is so slow in update even in android one devices.

  • Well, i have bought the phone while ago. mi 9se in real life has a good battery life and can take me in my day easily ( im not a gamer, just a normal user with social apps). I was afraid of missing notification as no LED is there and the problem with disappearing notification icons in status bar. However, notifications appear in always on display and that is huge plus ! The phone is fast, LTE speed is super with cat 15. Fear nothing if u want to buy it as it is perfect size ( not large or small ) Cameras are good enough for normal people. Please, dont be hooked by what tech people say, we are normal people and this phone can do more than what you really need. Only thing i hate, there is 3 option for screen to be resized S, M and L. I wish there will be something between small and medium because the small is letterly tiny.

  • Yes, it does.

  • Is this phone having multiple user accounts like MiA2 ? Mi9se users Pls reply

  • Mi 9T doesn't have IR port, if that matters to you.

  • Dude. It's a type C port. You must've misread it or something.

  • Did you return the phone or find a solution? The same issue occurred on my phone.

  • This or Motorola One vision?

  • Great, but USB 2 is obsolete and hurts file transfers (music/photo/video) too much. Could use water resistance as I ride bikes.

  • Sony

  • how is the battery?

  • I just used it to listen to music because of its huge speakers

  • Nice phone for the price, but very poor battery life, about 4 hours SOT...someone sad 7-8 sot, but thats not true, actualyy impossible

  • Who is the producers of cameras in 9se

  • Camara is good, but the pictures are blurry

  • I dont have that problem. You ahould return it. My first 9 se got wrecked by an update but since Xiaomi have 2y warranty i got a new one and it works great. The auto beightness is very dark durng the evening though

  • I don't know what others are complaining about. This phone is awesome. Battery life is extraordinary, about 7-8 sot. Runs smooth all the time. Screen is good, but not one of the best. Vibration motor is average. Signal quality and call quality are excellent. I have the global version 64Gb on the latest miui 10.3.5. I grabbed this 1 month used as new for 250 euro and I have to say I'm very pleased with it.

  • Great smartphone so far, the only thing I noticed is in the bottom left edge of the screen it produces a tiny line of blue light when using outdoor, both when screen is active and locked. Have you noticed anything similar?

  • also the Battery and the camera

  • Fully disappointed - No LED indicator - no way to see missed calls or charger status - MIUI disappearing notifications - notification only appears for 2 seconds and its gone - Notifications also disappear from Lock screen if you unlock once and lock back A smartphone that did everything for you to completely miss calls and messages. I don't care about tech specs if software is such a poor piece of cake

  • Mi 9 se and mi9 Have differences except processor and size?

  • 10.3.3.0. update opinions?

  • This 9 series of MI dont have that issue

  • I installed also gcam after reading a similar post. I don't see any improvement in image quality, night shot is not poor. Try to keep it steady all the necessary exposure time and you will be amazed. Otherwise use the normal photo mode for shorter exposure time. On the other hand with gcam i think you lose optic zoom especially the wide one which is super. I managed to capture a whole cathedral from a very short distance with its help. Anyway very please by the phone especially for the price.

  • New update opinions?

  • So if i need better camera, better choice mi9? Not SE?

  • Mi 9T:Better peformance, battery life A bigger screen Mi 9 SE:Better Cameras, speaker. A compact-sized phone.

  • Mi 9 SE has Sony IMX 586 for the main Sensor and IMX 576 For the selfie camera then you're saying that mi 9t has better cameras !!?

  • Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S9+: - camera is the most important, disadvantage. Not great. - software not as polished, as Samsung, but nothing to complain about, really. - everything else, just great.

  • Or enough this phone for active browsing, using GPS, navigation? And what differences mi9/mi9 SE camera??

  • 9 SE IF you like smäller phones. Both are almost identical

  • Opinions please. Mi 9 SE or Mi 9T. Thank you.

  • Things I HATE about this phone - in display fingerprint scanner not accurate when using tempered glass - cant disable camera beautify function (even set to 0). Yes, you can use gcam but the shutter become slow. - also beautify when video call

  • How is the battery life. I am currently looking to upgrade and I am seeing this phone and the galaxy a 70 and the A70 battery is 1500mah bigger than this and I was curious how is it. I am a power used which I game alot. I was interested in this mostly for the cpu and gpu in it. I am not a big fan of the ui but that is something I can adapt to and the lack of an sd card can be somewhat overlooked.

  • You know, I have both the google camera app, and the native app, and I can't see any noticeable difference in quality. Even night mode in the standard camera app seems fine (ie good). Maybe there was an update? Or maybe I just don't take enough night shots for it to be worthwhile. But I basically never bother with the google app.

  • This my new phone, it's really good. The size is perfect for portability, but the screen is still big enough. The camera's are great, the optical zoom is a nice feature, use it all the time. The processor is pretty beefy (beefy enough for some PSP emu, or some android gaming, and fluid either way), and the battery life is decent despite the size of the battery. Finger print reader and face recog is swift. Supports NFC for payments. Cheap as for a phone this calibur, and one of the rare few phones of this size nowadays. Brightest and speaker volume are both decent, screen is lovely. Downsides? MIUI needs some major configuration to get rid of the ads, and make it slightly more user friendly (duckduckgo getting rid of the ads, there are guides). Recommend microsoft launcher with some gesture configuration, as it makes it easier to get to settings etc than the tiny cog, plus it has a dock and folders which aren't in the standard launcher.

  • Hei all! Which one between Mi 8 & Mi 9 SE? Why? Thanks :)

  • It doesn't have stabilization, but the lag isn't there and it has many other great features like manual focus

  • Yes

  • are notifications fixed and displayed on top of the screen?

  • With the issues in Pocophone F1 (ghost touching), Is this an okay alternative?

  • Does this support camera 2 api??

  • The latest update ruined this otherwise great phone. Auto brightness is shit and the screen freezes att times making me have to restart it. I hope they fix it because none of these issues were there before.

  • if you mean the GCAM port, it's not available on Google's play store. You'd need to search on Google. Thanks!

  • As to the 8 hours of SoT, I keep it on manual brightness as auto brightness doesn't usually do what I want (except in sunny outdoors where I need auto brightness), I keep it around 50% on my brightness bar. Automatic sync is definitely on for all my WhatsApp email etc. Thanks for your questions!

  • Are you serious, the Realme 3 Pro? With the outdated Micro USB and an LCD screen?? The Mi 9 SE is way way better. Better cameras, chipset and display and of course the USB type C.

  • If u want a bigger display, battery and better cameras then go for the Mi 9T

  • 9T is definetly better but little expensive :)

  • The Mi 9 SE is an awesome device considering its price point and specs, though they should have put the SDM 730 in there. But no problems. It has a beautiful AMOLED screen and a fast fingerprint scanner. The most important thing for me in a smartphone is its cameras. Let it be single lens setup or a dual or a trio, it doesn't matter to me. The only thing I check is the aperture and the sensor as well as its sensor size. I don't care how many megapixels the camera has got like the Pixel with just 12mp they can take better shots than the Huawei's P series as well as the Mate series. So the first thing is the regular 48 mp camera. The images taken are with low noise levels, good dynamic range and natural colours, unlike taken with the AI mode in some other devices or the Chroma Boost in the Realmes which look quite fake. The telephoto camera took good shots, but not as good as the regular's one, of course but it is well detailed with noise in some dark areas and dynamic range is average. The ultra wide angle camera takes less distorted photos with nice and punchy colours but low dynamic range and a good amount of noise. The battery life is OK considering its way TOO small battery capacity of a simple 3000 mAh and the AMOLED screen. The screen size shoul have been a slightly bigger like a 6.2 or a 6.1 inch screen with the same resolution. But like always, you've outdone yourself Xiaomi (POCO F1), so congrats!!

  • Wouldn't complain if similar model existed with wireless charging. Mi9 competes with S10+, but Mi9SE can't compete with similar size S10. Too lowendish. Instead of heavy bricks like K20, Mi9T, 1+7, chinese folks should focus on adding mid-size high-end phones. Not everyone is excited about big displays.

  • Hi :) can you please specify the exact name of the app on google store you mentioned? Thank you

  • So, with regards to the 8 hours of SoT, do you keep the brightness on Auto brightness, and at what percentage? Also, is the automatic sync always on? I mean, for notifications, emails, instant messages.. Thanks for the comprehensive review and the useful pieces of advice.

  • With a pathetic standby time like this it's a waste of my money fo sho. Xiaomi plz 4000mah. We dont like being a wall hostage

  • Obviously the Realme 3 Pro

  • I have this phone. Coming previously from Nexus 5 and Nexus 6P, I have to say this is the best phone I've ever used. And much cheaper too - it is only selling for 200 euros around where I live. There are a few bad things about the camera, all of which can technically be solved through software, and currently can be partially remedied by downloading a GCAM port (i.e. a port of the Google camera app specifically for the Mi 9 SE, done by kind developers and can be found through Google). --- First, the STOCK camera app will over-process the skin of faces when it detects them. It loses a lot of detail in trying to smooth and whiten the skin with no option to turn it completely off. --- Second, as mentioned in the review, there's only 1080p in 30fps in the STOCK camera app. --- Third, Night Mode in the STOCK camera app is simply poor. Thankfully, I have been able to avoid ALL these problems by using a GCAM port, which includes Google's fantastic Night Sight, zero-processing even when shooting faces, and having the option to record 60 fps in 1080p. Do note that Pixel 3's camera is still better though, although not by much and you sacrifice the useful wide-angle lens (Hi, Pixel 4). In terms of battery life, I have no complaints at all. With a 1080p AMOLED screen, Dark Mode enabled, and a 10 nm SOC, I get 8 hours Screen-on time and 54 hours Screen-off time on Accu battery app. Coming from a dying Nexus 6P which only has less than 3 hours Screen-on time, I am happy I don't have to worry about getting through a whole day. Although getting to 7 nm (Hi, Mi 10 SE) would surely make things even better. Fast charging is super useful and I can top up from 40% back to 80% in just 30 minutes. And although I am guessing here, having 18 W charging and not something higher should help the battery healthier (keep its charge better) in the coming years. Performance-wise, I don't game so I can't comment much other than to say I am more than satisfied with the SD 712 chipset. I especially appreciate the 6 GB of RAM and the UFS 2.1 storage performance, both of which, in fact, has a greater impact on real-life usage performance. Display quality is nothing less than stellar, both in terms of color and brightness. However, I do miss the 1440 x 2560 resolution of my Nexus 6P (i.e. QHD, although I must accept it at this price point). I add that the notch is small enough to go unnoticeable, and the system update which smoothed the notch curvature really made a big jump in the aesthetics of the screen. Lack of 3.5 mm jack is no problem with the included USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter. Although the speaker is pretty loud and nice, a stereo one would be make video watching experiences much more immersive and pleasant (something which the Nexus 6P spoiled me with). People should be aware that audio recording is much clearer and crisper than the Mi 9 (not sure about the Mi 9T and whether it is a software-related issue), and should be great for recording class lectures, though I have already left school and would be unable to test it in that scenario. That in display or under display fingerprint is legit, and allows me to unlock my phone with it on my desk. It is faster than my Nexus 6P although you have to look to ensure you place your finger at the correct location, something that is made easier by its showing of an elegant icon at the sensor location when you lift up the phone. (I am practicing to achieve the no-look unlock which was easy previously with the fingerprint reader on the back.) MIUI has actually been more pleasing to use than Stock Android for me. The full screen gestures are mostly useful and allows you to gain more screen estate. And the swipe down on home screen to see notifications, swipe up on home screen to search on Google Now, and the built-in Lock Screen widget (long press on home screen to find widgets) will all be sorely missed if I went back to Stock Android. The fingerprint unlock animation is sexy and well-done (I'm on the 'Pulse' animation now). Last but not least, the most appealing aspect of the phone is its size. Even though it is 5.97 inches, it is actually a relatively small phone like S10e or the small Pixel 3/Pixel 3a because of the lack of bezels. It is 80% of the size of my previous Nexus 6P which has a 5.7 inch screen. Do not forget the weight and thickness of a phone when you are considering a new purchase, as it really makes a big difference given this is a device that you will bring with you all the time and hold for long durations. The headliner is that this is a 4.5/5 phone with only downsides of mono speaker and bad stock camera app, the latter of which can be solved mostly by downloading a GCAM port, the former of which you just have to live with. Thank you for reading!

  • 2nd hand Mi 9 SE or New Realme 3 pro?

  • What is more worthy to buy mi 9 se or a second hand 1 year old one plus 6 for the same price of the mi 9 se 6/128 variant? Need opinions

  • you should get mi 9t since that device has a 4000maH battery

  • so xiaomi 9 se or mi 9t, whats a better to buy?

  • Smartphones are not for you since you rely only on Play store

  • NFC is ok... I didn't try to change global to chinese version... might brick it anyway

  • Enough for 1 day usage for me..

  • Really. 3040mAh battery in such a huge price.

  • Best phone for 250euros on the market today. Compact size, great cameras, great looks, great performance. If you are smart, u will go for this one, if you are not, u will be comparing this phone with phones that are 300 euros more expensive. This one does not even have rival. Compact beast.

  • The Poccophone F1 is all about SOC performance on the cheap. The Mi 9 SE is a complete package, a premium midrange smartphone with the whole slew of flagship features. In display fingerprint sensor, NFC, Super Amoled Display, UFS 2.1 storage, SD 712.

  • Does anyone know if the Xiaomi phones work well in the US? Is carrier support bad?

  • Poco has much much better processor power and battery life. Mi 9 SE has a bit better screen and cameras.

  • it lasts me a full day of normal use (social media, some calls, some videos - no gaming). I went to bed with it at 100% last night, it's currently 4 PM the next day and it's by 58% and I haven't charged it since last night.

  • can u say what is best overall between pocophone & mi 9 se please?

  • GCAM does work. Not an official port, but a working camera app indeed.

  • What is the endurance rating for this battery of 3070?? Can anyone shade any light on this based on personal experience...

  • Wow. Mining software! This is serious allegation there. Xiaomi can sue you for this unless you have hard fact supporting your post. You better be careful.

  • No led notification

  • Which version of Gcam you use brother? and you collect this one from where?

  • Think this is rubbish phone all except display and looking. Mining on software. OOB, software is a garbage. Proximity have a big problem, no option Prevent Pocket Dials (extremely needed), accidental unlockings etc, etc, etc... BUT after bootloader unlocking and XEU ROM flashing it's a complete transformation and a totally other phone with any recommendation (battery still have some drain issue :( )

  • Guys...need further informations for this product especially who has on hand. NFC OK? Can change the firmware from global ver to chinese? My other NFC's phone already jammed today, so I must purcase another one asap. Tkx Alot!

  • mi9 SE, ofcourse. A8 was a good phone. But it's time is almost passed. In many ways, for example back camera, 6gb of ram, getting more OS updates in future(as it's newer), better design, etc., mi9 SE surpasses A8 2018.

  • The real question is: MI9 SE or A50.

  • Mi9 SE or Samsung A8 2018

  • Been using GCAM on my mi 9 se. tss

  • GSMArena please make a review on this device

  • Since GCAM (Google Camera) do not support mi 9Se (Google Play show information like "your device is not supported by this app") your comment is a piece of c**p and You shouldn't post things like this.

  • Battery is too weak for this device I m big fan of xiaomi phone but this time I go for Samsung A 50

  • Just used GCAM for MI 9 SE and stop using the default camera. Everything will be much better :) especially the full hd 60fps video recording, it's very awesome..

  • mi 9 se feels very good in hands. There is no sharp design feeling in contrast to mi 8 and the feel is very premium. I can compare it to S10e compact design.. Camera is very much better on mi 9 se (sony imx 586 vs imx 363). Front camera is also better on mi 9 se. for the chipset, mi 8 is definitely the much better (sd 845 vs sd 712) but you wont notice it in daily basis or even in 3d intensive games. Camera OIS in mi 8 is an edge in comparison for EIS of mi 9 se but it also works pretty well. Speaker is much better for mi 9 se vs mi 8.

  • I used mi8 before and now mi9 se.. Mi8 performance and camera is far way better... But also mi9 is not bad...

  • why so bad battery life!!! would like to buy, but only and very big problem, battery and battery life too bad! why not 4000mAh? if would be 4000mAh battery then would buy. otherwise good phone, but because weak battery, cannot buy.

  • if got card slot n wireless charging it will be perfect

  • I think mi 9 se is better overall.

  • Samsung a50 or mi9se?

  • which to buy? mi 8 (last year model ) or this mi 9 se? priority is on camera and battery....price is same....mi 8 has OIS and better chipset....what about other aspects....which one to buy? please help me thank you

  • I had similar experience yesterday when I was on a road-bike ride. I was taking pictures of my friends trying not to crash my bike so I was just tapping shutter button when cam started to get extremely laggy, I even got pink artifacts in the life-view image. Photos were fine though and camera works perfectly now.

  • Hey! excuse me how is video recording with the app you talk about? Is it good? I mean does it have stabilization and the lag while recording is not there using the app? appreciate your help :)

  • They still haven't fixed this with the new Update from yesterday... I use Filmic Pro. It costs 13€ but is a far better camera app for filming and worth it's price. And you can focus while filming without having lags!

  • I have got black because it was 20$ cheaper. It's actually a very nice metallic dark grey.

  • what is the best colour for mi 9 se ?

  • The best phone in the price

  • Gaming poco, everything else 9 se.

  • what is best between pocophone and mi 9 se?

  • MI 9 SE is not a flagship!

  • What are the things did u notice for u to say that the camera is buggy?? Because i experiencing some like in camera when u are doing video recording. Everytime u tried to tap and change the focus. The video becomes laggy/low fps/stuttering.

  • The camera is buggy. When you take a video recording and then change it focus, while the circle focus indicator is still in the screen, the recording becomes laggy or low fps. But when the circle focus indicator is not showing up, everything becomes normal. Many users already experiencing this as we have a group in facebook for mi 9 se users. We will report this in feedback to fixed the issue.

  • Maximum loudness is 5 times as loud as most other phones, it's normal that it has quality loss at that loudness.

  • I partially agree. First, it's not a flagship. And for this price, 300$ there is no better phone you can get. The battery life was great at the beginning, but after one month, it's only half as good, because it somehow uses 2.5 GB Ram in Standby. Use Darkmode and black wallpapers for more battery life as it's an OLED Display. Also, it charges 20% in 10 minutes. The camera is bugged, if you focus while filming, it is really stuttery and basically unusable. To prevent that, I use Filmic Pro. It costs 15$ but it is an awesome app anyway and totally worth it's price. The other things you mention, I don't have a problem with. I do really recommend this phone.

  • I have been using this phone for about 2 months. Pros : Compact : size and weight is good for one hand operations Cons: Battery can not lasts for one day even I never play games. only social media user Earpiece in the upper left to the notch is awful. I often can not hear the person and another person often complaints that cannot hear me. Microphone is not also good. Even when I use headphones (wired or bluetooth) I have hearing problems. Camera is a little bit laggy. Camera bump is also too high. Sometimes when using whatsapp video calls phone heats. For these problems I gave back my 9 se 6/128 gb changed it to 6/64 . Thought that it may be one phone defect but my second 9 se also has same problems. I have updated to the latest version of MIUI nothing changed. I think build quality especially earpiece microphone and voice recorder is really bad for a flagship. Not Recommended.

  • I choose Mi 9SE at the end

  • Thanks for your complete comparison

  • for me weight is equivalent to build quality. Just like jerry rig everything also said.

  • I have this phone for over a month now. no complaints about everything aside from the speaker. When in maximum volume, sometimes it produce crackling sound and it bothers me.

  • no, you can shoot 60fps 1080 video

  • Data is not correct : Video is only possible in 30fps at 1080p, there is no 60fps.

  • Do u also same problem in Ur mobile

  • Mi 9

  • Mi 9 SE or Redmi note 7?

  • get the Xiaomi Redmi K20 or the K20 pro

  • Looking to buy a phone. what to choose? Mi 9 SE or Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018)? I'm very used to MIUI :/

  • The battery problem is because of Fingerprint sensor, when you disable it, your draining problem will be fix.

  • Yess agree..

  • No

  • True. Even middle range Samsung phones screens are better and more comfortable to the eyes although this phone has a Samsung-made screen

  • Battery very quickly shutdown wat problem please tel me

  • Redmi K20 is better, has beter CPU and GPU, big screen, big battery, and a 3.5mm headphone jack...

  • Both are great value but K20 is a huge phone while 9 SE is norr compact. You decide.

  • most important differences imo: redmi k20 is better for: -battery capacity -cpu&gpu -bigger screen -has 3.5mm jack! mi 9 se is better for: -smaller size(nice in hand:)) -better screen quality -infrared port -better camera* *: selfie camera is better in specs and as i know the main camera lens on mi 9 se is imx586 but on k20 it's imx582. yet, mi 9 se has 720p slowmotion and 1080p slowmotion on k20 is better of course and i don't know if 1080p comes to mi 9 se in future software updates or not. what you choose depends on your needs & likes.

  • Please review it completely!!

  • Can anyone suggest me which one better between Redmi K20 or Mi 9SE at overall? Because Redmi K20 have newer specs

  • I'm using mi 9 se for last 1 month. Sometime I see the green and yellow color becomes more problamtic in the display. Other colors also becomes sometimes extra saturated. Moreover the reading mode doesn't work. Can anyone tell me is this a hardware problem or software ? But the other performance is very satisfying.

  • Perhaps xiaomi didnt send them a review unit

  • When will there be a gsmarena review for this phone?? It's been March since the phone was first released and there's no review yet?

  • Mi9se

  • Great phone overall. Built quality, speed and display is great. The camera, however, is a bit laggy. Definitely not smooth specially in portrait mode. The quality of the pictures are amazing, though. Is there any MiUI update coming that may fix the small freezes of the camera?

  • No my phone has nerver had any hetaing issues.

  • Is your mi 9 se heating up while charging?

  • For me it is the mi 9 se

  • Mi 9 SE has better display, newer android version and better price. Mi 8 has better CPU performance.

  • please some one have good information answer me .which one is better mi8 or mi9se ?

  • Please review mi 9 se

  • totally agree...

  • The battery may not be big, but it's battery life is great, greater than redmi 7 note which has 4000 mah.

  • perfect body size, horrible battery

  • Almost perfect for me If only battery could been bigger

  • autonomy?

  • This device really has built quality. Overall use for 3 days so far so good. The feel is premium when you swipe through the phone. It does not feel like a mid-range phone. I will never be so satisfied using an Android phone. Previously Mi 8 SE also not feel as premium as this Mi 9 SE. I give 5 stars for the built quality in the mid-price range.

  • i still wonder why xiaomi still not producing many mid range or flagship that has small screen size, at least below 5.8 inch. this phone is perfect for one hand handling and doing great. we asian need more small size phone that easy in pocket please. also, I dont mind to pay lil bit more for this phone if the audio jack is there, with extended memory slot available. Cut cost at the screen size, put back the memory slot and audio jack

  • yes

  • Okay I got this phone yesterday (the 128GB-version). First impression when unboxing it - wow! I have not been this impressed with a phone since Oneplus X. It truly feels and looks quality. The compact size is perfect. Once you are playing with it the screen feels much bigger thanks to the aspect ratio. My wife said it looks like an iPhone and I guess thats what Xiaomi was going for so they really nailed it. Design 10/10 Looks and feels like a true flagship. I got the piano black and it looks like a phone for Bruce Wayne. The compact size is also very comfortable. Cant believe 147mm is compact now a days. It has the same height as my old Nexus 5X. Screen 10/10 AMOLED and HDR = wow! I dont minde the dot notch you forget about it rather quickly. This is one of the reason why I bought this phone. Its a Samsung screen and those are among the best in the industry. Software 8/10 Its not stock android but I dont mind MIUI. It got some usefull apps there but as always with android you can customize it as you see fit or download another launcher. I use it as it is. Battery 9/10 Easily one day goes by without me loading it. It takes about 1;30 to fully download which is insanely fast comparing to my old iPhone 6S (2:30h). Camera 9/10 For the price its a great camera. There are some usefull tweaks here and there that you can manipulate with and the night mode is awesome. Camera made by Sony btw. Overall 9/10 I dont see why I should buy 1000 euro/dollar phones when companies like Xiaomi produce great and cheap phones like this. I'm greatefull to have it and I hope they will keep supporting its software so this phone will be even better nexy year.

  • I never liked this phone for its internals but I really, REALLY like the size. It lacks weight but god, the dimensions is perfect for me, and it's really close to the size of an iPhone X/Xs so it makes sense.

  • It has always on display that shows all notifcation like whats app & fb messeger???

  • Dude... What?

  • Can anyone help me to find out all of this mobile notifications especially wireless display and what is existing and what is not

  • Mi 5's backcover is made of plastic. That's why it has 129g weight while Mi 5 Prime/Pro's backcover is made of glass and it is heavier. Also I think the thickness of the Mi 5 Prime/Pro's glass is thinner than Mi 9 SE has.

  • This phone is great for its price!! In my Opinion: Display 10/10 Size 10/10 Camera 9/10 Performance 10/10 Battery 7/10 (heavy gamers should be aware) Mid range price = flagship quality

  • Battery time is not bad. You can extend it by using dark mode. And it charges 20% in 10 minutes

  • Battery life is good. Just use as many dark modes as possible, because it's an OLED Display. Also, at lower battery, it charges 20% in 10 minutes. No headphone jack is no problem, unless if you want to charge while listening to music. Loud vibration doesn't bother.

  • yes, the camera bump still stands out with the case. I got camera protection glass. I have also got dimple.io NFC buttons. Now it doesn't lie on the cameras anymore :)

  • Please someone (using Mi 9 SE) advise possible Endurance Rating of this phone, comparing to another older phone with a rating. (For example, Mi 8 SE had rating of 86 while Pocophone F1 has 94 and Redmi Note 7 has 108; so what could be the rating for Mi 9 SE). Thanks, Eebtesher

  • no sensor barometer

  • The GPS which includes galileo is much faster and sometimes more accurate than phones without. The size is perfect too.

  • The phone is absolutely great. It is hard to believe that you are not holding a flagship. Screen is great for an amoled (I prefer IPS for color), the phone is very responsive too and the camera is top notch. Battery life is comfortable 24hr+ with normal use. My complaints have to do with tje desing. It is 7.9mm thick (not 7.5mm as inspec) but because of the symmetric sides which do not curve to make it better tp hold lile the mi5 it feels thicker than it actually is. The camera bump is big too, much bigger than i expected.

  • Well, the battery life is quite normal of what you can expect from 3070 mAh battery, it can survive one day of normal usage, but two days are not common. When it comes to the vibration motor, its absolutely not true, the motor is very quiet. And of couse the lack of 3.5 mm jack is there, but I got used to it very soon.

  • Still too heavy. Xiaomi should have trim down the weight to 129 gram, it did that with Mi 5, why can't it do it now.

  • I'm interested in this phone, the size is perfect for me, but unfortunately, until I do not know what battery behavior is, in standby and in use, I say no.

  • can anyone tell me about the LTE speed of this phone?

  • Eagerly waiting for the detailed review of the Mi 9 SE here on GSMArena. The size of the phone is perfect for me, and I'm looking for a phone not bigger than this one with AMOLED screen as well, in the same price range. I have read couple of reviews of this device on different sites, and my overall opinion is positive about it. My only concerns are the weak battery, the loud vibration engine, and the lack of the 3.5 mm jack.

  • I heard that the screen isn't as good as the ones one samsung phones

  • True, for people who don't play it probably isn't relevant and the battery actually will be enough. But people who plays should be aware. As I mentioned for me it was a step down from Motorola g5s plus which doesn't have that much bigger battery, but the real difference is big.

  • I mean the LTE speed of this one

  • A50 is weaker and has worse camera. P30 lite is similar but also costs more

  • The battery life is very good. simpy use the Dark-mode, it's an OLED-display. Also, it charges 10% in 5 minutes

  • All versions have LTE, while the global Version has got LTE band 20 extra, which is very useful in Europe

  • No, the Mi 9 SE is smaller

  • Does anyone know if same dimension as Mi9? So cases that fit Mi9 should fit as well? No expandable storage via microSD and no 3.5mm earphone jack too?

  • Sure, dude. And should be distributed for free at every corner. :-) What about checking the prices first, and only after doing so set your wish list?

  • Well, 160 cm is more than 5 feet and 3 inches. It is indeed too big for a portable cell phone. Quite big even for a TV set.

  • Well, dude, it is 3000 mAh only, but AMOLED display consumes a lot less than a LED-lit LCD, so you are at about the same battery lifetime as with a 4000+ mAh battery and an LCD. With average usage, it can endure for 3 days or more. Of course I would have been happier with a 4000+ mAh battery either, but it is not such a bad trade-off even this way.

  • Does anyone know about the LTE version of this?

  • That battery makes me want to cry. This is so disappointing when a lot of phones are at 4000mah. Who cares if my phone is not super slim if it will have a 4230mah battery?

  • With all respect: playing 2.5h a day with a game is not much of a regular usage in my opinion.

  • Because people don't want thick phones

  • As I mentioned I mainly play that game Empires and puzzles, through out a day it's usually about 2,5 hours. So it's not even that much gaming in my opinion. Rest is about 30min of web, 20 minutes 9gag. Then about 30 minutes of music and some WhatsApp. Wi-Fi, mobile, bt on always. The main battery eater is the game and display in this case. My previous Moto g5s plus took me usually with same usage to next day, but with this one I really need to charge in the evening, or even sooner. Maybe it's actually not that bad result with such usage, but for me it's a big step down.

  • Yup. It has full support. Not level 3 like mi9, but good enough.

  • USB PD really took off only with the usage of USB-C. While it was present earlier barely anyone supported it.

  • No idea, you can check a50/p30l review in here, and also mi9se review at notebookcheck. Maybe overall mi9se better than both.

  • Can you please tell me more elaborately about your using and how much hour support you got from the battery?

  • yeah

  • For me the battery is very very poor. I play Empires & Puzzles game which isn't that much demanding, but still it eats through battery like nothing. 100% in the morning then around 2h30m of the game during day, little of normal stuff like web, chat and around 20:00 I am easily at 12%. I really don't understand why nobody is willing to make mid-range phone with small size and 4k battery. Samsung s10e is actually perfect size, but the battery isn't that much bigger either. Not to mention the price.

  • Can you confirm if Mi9 SE supports camera2api out of the box and can I simply download an .apk Gcam file to use the Google camera ?

  • Mi 9 se or p30 lite or A50 ??? Please help me. Thanks.

  • Can anyone tell me about the EAR PIECE quality of Mi 9 se? I heard that its ear piece is not good in quality.

  • I am totally into this phone but i am concerned about the battery life i have seen and read too much mixed reviews regarding the batrery life of this phone... I don't play PUBG and any other games.... But i watch YouTube and Netflix alot and Facebook too... Currently using samsung a7 2017 and its battery life is amazing... Please help me out....

  • Mi 9se have nice design but the only problem in this phone is battery. And also Wight is very less. 155 g

  • Yes honor play, i kinda misread and typed mi play instead

  • Just checked mi forums, you are right some user experiencing screen flicker. But I read there are workaround by use original theme and disable aod and use oled saver app. Mi play? do you mean honor play?

  • Does it support ota update in gloval version? Have u ever got any ota update? I'm planning to buy a global one.

  • Sadly no, mi play is not available in my country. I saw it on youtube and someone actually tested it out and can't be fixed

  • As I said before, never look a50 as an option, you clearly need a better gpu, adreno 616 is a minimum option or high core mali g72 which is honor play has, mali g72-mp3 in the helio p70 / exynos 9610 is bad choice for gaming purpose.

  • No idea, you got that info from mi forums? maybe that's just miui bugs. I forgot about honor play, it's available in your country? that's better than sd710 soc, though it's still weaker than poco, if you not isterested then go for mi9se.

  • I saw people ranting on a50 community post, they say that a50 has battery drain issue. Like they're not using it but suddenly the battery went down faster than they thought. That actually made me hesitated to buy a50

  • honestly i have the mi9se and my friend has the a50 and we are both playing together on pupg and nba live , and we are both very very hapy with it, for my experience i have had absolutly NO LAG and is realy pleasentto play. but because the a50 as a way better battery live than my mi9se , you schould go with the bigger screen and battery of the a50 I bought the mi9se just because i dont like big phones and my daily performance and camera are better

  • i dont know if it is bad or not but all i can say is that the pictures i am taking in 48mp are very good and i am able to zoom in and have more details than the 12mp mode. So i dont know if it is realy 48mp or not ,but the result is that my picture is even better.

  • i have had 12H on with 5H screen on time with very good usage. Its not the best but hope it will get better with a future update wich is completly possible since the chinese version last way longer than my global version. So its all about software and i hope it will improve a litle bit

  • i have already aswered this question for someone else. But i am getting in normal use a litle more than 1day . But overall i need to charge it every day with 20% left wich is not great in comparaison with the poco f1 of my dad. but since the phone is charging from 60% to 100% in 30mins im not that unhappy. If you have any other questions go ask them , i have had the 9se since a week now

  • i have had the phone since few days and in normal usage i have got like 5hours screen on time , and i will probably need to recharge my phone every day . I have also done a test in heavy use and i was able to play : 1H of 3d games(30min NBA live and 30min PUPG) + 1H of social media + 1H of youtube , and after these 3hours i was left with 55% of battery. if you have more questions ask them here i would answer you

  • ufs 2.1 single lane

  • Anyone able to confirm if the global rom version sold into US markets does in fact have support for LTE band/frequency 2/1900, 4/1700+2100, 5/850 instead of just 5/850 given some listings on ebay show just the latter while others show support for the former. I'm asking because this device would be viable on at&t US network with the band 2,4,5 support but probably pretty spotty LTE coverage if it only has band 5 support.

  • Thanks for the replies btw, i don't usually play games while charging coz i had a bad experience with that. Have they fix the blinking screen problems at mi8? I think i will buy mi9 se

  • Yes, many source say that

  • My bad. TY for the fix

  • Yes I've heard last year about poco touch issue, I don't know whether it's fixed or not. If you dont have a gut to try and playing with poco, this mi9se or even mi8se still decent choice for gaming, or if you can raise your budget there is mi8 which is better then both. But if you really give highest priority for gaming and dont care about other aspect, I think realme 3 pro is better than both mi-se variant, it has similar soc but bigger battery, have vooc and also cheaper. I never use vooc phone but I read a lot about fast charging tech, it's faster than qc4 and causing less heat, so my guess it's better for gamers which is usually have bad habits (playing game while charging).

  • Any information on the internal storage type? Is it UFS2.1?

  • hmm... look like you mistaken it as realme 3, the pro version has fhd+ screen, though you have valid point about gaming performance

  • No touch issues with poco

  • Just 48 mpx samples and ultra wide needs some improvement.

  • Is it that bad?

  • But i saw on internet pocophone has touch issues and delayed touch while playing game but im not sure whether its true or not

  • Go for pocophone, it's clearly better for gaming, it's have stronger soc and also have bigger battery than mi9se. A50 it's jokes if you talk about quality gaming, cheaper phone like note7 pro are better than a50, or realme 3 pro which is have adreno 616 but just have hd resolution will humilating a50 for gaming purpose.

  • Mi 9 se

  • Please review mi 9 se Thanks

  • Guys, please help me. Should i buy this or samsung a50, im buying for smooth gaming experience

  • Should i go for this or samsung a50? I'm buying for playing games

  • Endurance rating? Please....

  • disappointed with 48 mpx camera quality

  • Are you sure? Do you have the global ROM device and can we get a DRM Info screencap of this? Because L1/L3 certification is one of my consideration in choosing between Mi9 SE or Samsung Galaxy A50

  • Please add benchmark and endurance rating test results.

  • It is 2k19 these things gonna disappear in coming future

  • Can anyone say the true ? How was the battery life of this device ? Mi9 se , is that get 1 n half day , if normal use

  • Device inc is good but has no fm radio,no 3.5 jack & sd card why???

  • launch it in Philippines please

  • Need your reviews on the battery life of this phone? From what I have read so far it is quite onflicting as some say it's bad some say otherwise

  • good phone, but as battery too weak then nothing to do with it. can you keep phone size, use screen with less pixels and put inside 4000mAh battery? you can ask more money for "not so good screen", i will pay! just give me compact phone what battery keeps phone running!

  • Previously had an LG G5 and wanted the G7 or G8 but the G5 turned out to be my second LG with bootloader issues effectively meaning it was Bricked. So wanted to try something compact with a decent camera. LG G series cameras have been great with their OIS this didn't have that but am pleased to report that. 1) Image quality is good 2) The OIS on the G series was helpful but so far not a dealbreaker 3) phone is the ideal size for me. I can operate one handed 4) Screen is very clear in sunlight. 5) Not sure about battery life. What I have found, however, is that a) the screen is clear and you don't need it on full brightness at all and b) if you swipe down from the top the brightness bar pops up under the main settings and you can just turn the brightness down. I can do this in about 1 second one handed. So am very pleased so far. In the blue colour this phone looks stunning

  • This phone looks interesting but the lack of micro SD slot is really a dealbraker

  • that what i thought then seen 3070mAh battery combined with 1080x2340pixels 5,97 inch screen. PLEASE! make a phone with battery 4000mAh, with screen 720x1440pixel screen not more than 5,9inch, better if can be also smaller (with smaller BODY size ofcourse!!!), with EFFICIENT processor, and good camera! This phone would be must have phone if it would have 4000mAh battery and 720x1440 pixel screen. Less pixels consume less power and battery runs longer! Its useless phone, its good, but nothing to do if phone battery does not last and dies middle of day. You can use it only few hours as a camera, but if you are in safari trip with no sockets in wildlife, then you want good pictures (it can make good pictures by tech, but it would not, as battery does not last) ... pointless phone. My suggestions: bigger battery and less pixels on screen (you do want good quality pictures, but you do not need to watch it on tiny phone screen, but later on TV with your friends).

  • I have bought 3 days ago. Very compact very easy to use. But battery life is veryyy bad. Not even lasts 1 day. Battery life is similar to iPhone. And camera is not good not 48 mg.

  • Camera quality on mi 9 se vs mi 8. Better video(4k@60fps)+OIS on mi 8 better image quality, great resolution, better sensor mi 9 se am I wrong?

  • Review please!

  • it's simply cause for around 2 years screens have dramatically extended along the same factor, so battery cannot extend too

  • i think its battery does not last as long as redmi 3. interesting that many years old phones are better than new ones. what you do with faster processor if battery do not last?

  • mi 9 has SD855

  • Xiaomi mi9se SD712 Xiaomi mi 9 SD845

  • it's not powerful at all, but it's a global phone so why shouldn't it have got a better Widevine than just L3?

  • mi 9se global version is available in guangzhou fair china import & export 2019

  • I don't know where you read that the SD712 is a downclocked SD845, but your source is very wrong. As I already stated in my other comment, the SD712 has only 2 powerful Cortex-A75 and 6 low power Cortex-A55. While the SD845 has 4 powerful Cortex-A75 and 4 low power Cortex-A55. Then the Adreno 630 GPU of the SD845 is about twice the power of the Adreno 616 in the SD710 and SD712. Same chipset, eh?

  • You say that like your LG Q6 was something powerful, it's not a G nor a V series.

  • SD712 isn't a downclocked SD845, the SD845 still have 2 more A75 cores than the SD712. SD712: 2x Cortex-A75, 6x Cortex-A55 SD845: 4x Cortex-A75, 4x Cortex-A55 It's not just the clock speed. Also the SD855 isn't a more power efficient SD845, it uses 4x Cortex-A76 cores, I don't understand what you mean as it being the same chip as the SD845... Then the SD710 and SD712 are both 8 cores(2x Cortex-A75 and 6x Cortex-A55), but the SD712 is overclocked adding 100 MHz more on the Cortex-A75 cores and Quick Charge 4+ support, everything else is the same.

  • See in the description: "Lock Status: Factory Unlocked", so it's a rooted device and i think the information is edited

  • I really need this phone xiaomi so please reach here in the Philippines, just ship a lot of units so that MI fans can purchase one

  • what really? Not even my fckin LG Q6 has got it!

  • Yes!

  • does global version have widevine L1 ?

  • I am playing at my phone and using him preety often I am photographing a bit and I want a light phone what is better for me?

  • I just didn't like this kind of notch. Any option to disable it or something?

  • Global launch :

  • Hi, i want to buy this phone, anyone know if its hood for the price? I have seen all youtube videos and reviews. But bit afraid the phone is slow and bad camera. So anyone have some answers about this phone? Thanx

  • Yep. I've just changed from an mi6 to the pocophone, and as much as I like it, it's a little on the large side for me. The mi 9 se is just a couple of mill longer then the mi6 and crucially, the same with. Shame no 3.5mm jack though.

  • Can this phone run fortnite mobile ??

  • Is there going to be a review of the global version?

  • It's sad that it does not have a wireless charge !

  • can you please do battery endurance test for Xiaomi Mi 9 SE?

  • no there is zero mentions of this and xiaomi likes to tell about all features

  • I heard that it has got a radio FM - is it true? you wrote that it is not there

  • Can someone tell me is Mi 9 SE has water cooling system?

  • It seems Xiaomi also decided to remove audio jack from all the new smartphones. Hence.. have to move to another brand.

  • @psilo110 - Thanks for the reply. the other concern I had is the MIUI interface, it looks terrible, and no notification icons etc. Maybe i could get used to it.

  • the 712 is not average, you are thinking of the 710. when qualcomm fabricates a batch of chips, some are not capable of running full speed on all cores. rather than throw away units, they disable cores or limit speeds. the 712 is 2018's flagship 845 downclocked from 2.8ghz to 2.3ghz.

  • by far worse, did you mean the same chipset lol

  • you realize the snapdragon 712 are leftover 845s downclocked from 2.8ghz to 2.3ghz right? the 855 is more power efficient than the 845 because the shrank the die size but they're the same chip. The 712 is 8 core unlike the 710.

  • But is has got an OLED Screen and a better Camera Setup. OLED Screen also saves power

  • It's more expensive than the pocophone F1. Poor 3000mah battery and a far worse cpu. Not worth the money. I'll pass.

  • I really want a compact phone with an amoled screen that doesnt cost a fortune. Problem with this phone is the average Snapdragon 712 processor, shame they didnt put something slightly better in it.

  • If you have set region to India i understand that, because of ads, even in settings there is follow as ads, but for other regions, MIUI (10) is really fast, but point is, there is not ads at all. Yes, sure, you need to turn off recomandation in Security, cleaner, music, downloads, file manager, but thats you can do for like 30 sec, and thats it.. Try to change region from India to any other (Germany for example).. also those bloatware apps like Amazon, Flipkart will be gone (you can always install them via Play Store). Good luck :D

  • I guess it is not "better" phone than Huawei P20, but on the other hand, it is really good "midrange" phone from first half of 2019. Good soc, good screen, good cameras, good battery life (for only 3070mAh), and best of all it is compact by today standards, and asking price is really real. For some that under screen fingerprint sensor is also good stuff and trendy.. last but not least, it is available in Global version.

  • I want this to be the next Android One - Mi A3 maybe? Xiaomi, make that possible.

  • Mi 9 SE or Mi 8? They're about at the same price here. I love Mi 9 SE compact size & notch instead of Mi 8. Also Mi 9 SE have better battery life though smaller capacity.

  • that's true MIUI is worse

  • I have a Huawei P20 right now and I'm really interested on this 9 SE. I wonder if this phone is a worthy upgrade for my P20. I wonder if this phone even considered to be an upgrade! On paper the only better specs are the screen and wide angle camera. Also the slightly smaller and lighter body, which I always appreciate from a phone. Better wait for the review, I guess.

  • i like this phone soo much but too bad it has too small battery and i dont like MIUI software

  • yes! no officiel news about the release but it's already selled in aliexpress stores and ebay

  • hi i am from india ...where i can able to buy this mobile..

  • some videos on youtube with some global version mi 9se ,

  • I can't find any official news regarding the release of Global Version. Are you sure about this?

  • I hope Xiaomi will "wake up" and develop next MIUI to make use of AMOLED's capabilities. OK, there's no separate notification LED, but who cares? There are 1080 x 2340 pixels that can be given such a function.

  • Really? Does it support LTE band 4?

  • really?

  • The global version is released :) !

  • A smaller AMOLED screen plus a 10-nm more advanced processor mean less energy consumption. The pure mAh capacity number isn't a direct measure of battery charge duration. It also depends on how much the device spends. So, I wouldn't be surprised if the Mi 9 SE had an even longer charge duration in spite of the battery with smaller nominal capacity.

  • It's 3,070 mAh which is similar like Galaxy S9. I have a Mi 8 and which has 3,400 mAh. Most of the time, I probably charge the battery every 2 (or 3) days. So I'm guessing that I probably can use one and half day with Mi 9 SE or can be 2 days--if it has slightly better battery management.

  • How about the battery life ??

  • It isn't bigger than the phone it self

  • 5.97inchs means diagonal size, right?

  • screens are measured diagonally...

  • This or Poco F1?

  • Because the screen size is measured on the diagonal, not on the side

  • Man, really pushin' those bezels.

  • When??

  • Can somebody please explain how the heck the screen size is larger than the actual phone itelf?

  • this is real global version is coming!!!!!

  • same

  • it says yes in the specs

  • Global Version: is this legit or scam?

  • Sadly small phones don't exist anymore. They will rather do a 7inch phone than a 5.5 inch one. There already are "mini" versions of some phones with 6.2inch screens

  • Xiaomi please release it early I need to uograde my phone and this one kinda perfect for me

  • Why does this phone doesn't include an 845 processor with updated hardware, mixed with the hardware from his big Brother (MI 9 - Camera etc) ? Like 8GB Ram and expendable memory? Also with a bezel less 5.8 screen? Otherwise THIS would be a price and size, budget killer for all the other flagships... (Nokia 9 / Sony - Xperia XZ2 compact / XZ2 Samsung - S8/S9/S10E Huawei P20 / P20 Pro / Mate 20 / Mate 20- Pro and P30)... But that would be unfair, to crush the market by offering this kind of smartphone with those (MI9 and 845 processor and 8 gb ram) specs (Oneplus 6T) for just 350 euro. Hopefully they will bring again a cheap flagship killer like the Pocophone F1 with good battery and camera performance and a little bit smaller version to the market (5''8 inch and 68mm width with 14 cm lengt.)

  • - 8 GB Ram - 64/128 GB + Expendable memory - 3,5 mm jack plug in - No Ads, perfect working UI, ike Oneplus. And Then this smartphone will become one of the best-selling phones of 2019.

  • we're waiting for the global version xiaomi ^_^

  • buy nokia 8.1

  • Does the mi 9 se have a slow motion video 960fps?

  • what event? how do you know this?

  • I hope this one is "actually" released globally. Note 7 Pro is such a huge disappointment.

  • Ok well that's true. But there are adaptors that don't take away any space...

  • Hope Xiaomi will launch this phone as a MI A3 in India.

  • Because wireless is yet another piece of equipment to be charged...

  • Bring this as Mi A3 for global Market...

  • Why the hell isn't 128GB enough? Why can't you buy wirelesa Headphones or use an adaptor? Why can't everyone stop crying and spam this in the comments...

  • Want 3.5jack, SDCard slot? GO BUY REDMI SERIES. Mi Series usually dont have that.

  • I agree 100% why no radio , 3.5 jack , micro sd cards in phones now days come on makers !

  • I thot 5.8" incher

  • Pocophone F1 ? YES to all that you ask and even more :D

  • Card slot - No 3.5mm jack - No Radio - No My money to xiaomi - No! I just need smartphone with radio, 3.5 jack and micro-sd card slot like old one. Why i cant find anything for more than 2 years already? Is that so hard to produce smartphones those years?

  • Wrong. It means small edition.

  • please have a global for this xiaomi

  • still no Xiaomi 9 SE review yet?!?!

  • Hate that 9 SE doesn't have 3.5mm and microSD slot. And Note 7 Pro doesn't have NFC. WHY??

  • He just make a joke since the SE series had not been to global since mi 8. Hopefully, they're going to release globally for this will be the top competitor to samsung A50.

  • does it have a global version?

  • Very interesting phone if the global version is really shipping to Europe. Does it really have NFC on board? NFC should be a component of the SD 710 or am i wrong?

  • Lol no. Its "Special Edition". Where did you get that info. Lmao.

  • Ok thank you. But will this phone comes to India??

  • Me too waiting for this phone

  • when people start caring about ip68

  • When are Xiaomi gonna include ip68 in their phones?

  • Not useless, main band here in UK is 1800 MHz so will work with every network except O2 and companies who use O2 network like GiffGaff and Tesco Mobile.

  • global version please ^_^

  • @GSMArena: Is this going to be released in EU ?

  • And no notification icons on Always on display....

  • This mobile doesnt have led of notifications , its a shame

  • YES

  • this phone is a beast for mid-range phone it must have a global version for this

  • It would be a good competitor for the S10e so I don't know why they wouldn't release a global version.

  • No B20 (800MHz) LTE band - useless for Europe !

  • There will be a Xiaomi event on the 28th of March where they will give more information about the distribution, global yes or no

  • thankkss bruh for information

  • please we're waiting for the global version

  • Xiaomi can you please release Android ONE version of this phone.

  • Of course no, SE means Self Edition

  • No. While you can get same shitty on-paper useless information everywhere, there are no reviews that would provide solid, in-depth analysis of all phone components - this is universal for all phones. And even on forums this kind of information doesnt exist. So you are basically buying potato in a bag. Thank god that all phone manufacturers are absolute noobs and piles of garbage, who cannot for the their life make a good phone, so major misdesigns/malfunctioning gets out really quick, and you know to not buy that phone (tldr, every phone).

  • Do not understand at all. Found some people asking someone about which phone to buy? Nowaday google it and you will get all the necessary info. before you can make any decision.

  • when is d expected date of release in India?

  • Did this phone have always on display

  • Mi 9se is better

  • I am from India need to buy secondary phone to I phone x. Choice is. Note 7pro mi9se and oppof11. Help me choose. Is note 7 pro is a great choice??

  • Global version will be released??

  • How's thr battery life for this natt capacity + sd712?

  • will this get to Europe? Or it will be only for Chinese market?

  • ...Wouldn't you think it is a better idea for phone maker to enable US LTE bands, rather than US carriers support additional bands? Xiaomi unsupported US LTE bands is probably done for multiple reasons...need to modified/add antenna design, regulatory US FCC certification..etc Just like how Samsung has multiple regional SKU for same model.

  • Will it get a global release

  • This

  • This or Poco? ( In terms of camera and video quality)

  • Please GSMA make a review of this device.

  • I wish US carriers would start making these phones compatible on US LTE bands.

  • same triple cam but mi9 SE use samsung camera, lower mp for ultrawide camera

  • its the same camera as the mi 9

  • this phone camera really support 48 mp or its just like redmi note 7 guys?sorry my bad english

  • Is wireless charging possible?

  • please xiaomi reach here in Philippines I like this compact phone

  • Terrible battery life.

  • You alrealy got it ?

  • You can't have a compact phone with big battery unless it is thick af

  • Good except for battery capacity.

  • Is it aluminium frame?

  • Possible global launch...

  • mi9 se compact phone... great and good specs

  • Lol bro! This is the lite version. The actual mi 9 is a beast!

  • is this phone good?

  • Which looks better the mi 9 se or pocophone f1

  • 19.5:9 ratio. Rubbish. Why no 16:9 phones?

  • Mi9 SE in my opinion

  • Yes

  • Not sure what you're getting at. This is SE (budget) edition, not to compete directly with S10 series.

  • Xiaomi just screwed up to snatch the limelight from Samsung. The Xiaomi mi 9 SE should have had Q855, HDR10+, 3700 mah battery, microsd, 3.5mm jack, IP water resistance all inside

  • Does it have a ud fingerprint scanner

  • Which looks better the mi 9 se or the galaxy a50

  • Hahah sure. Thats stupid. SD855 with 3000 mAh will be like SD835 with 4500 mAh.

  • mi 9 se or pocophone f1 or redmi note 7 pro? that mi 9 se amoled though...

  • I like this phone, from Bacolod City Philippines

  • Lol you can't make such a generalisation. Power consumption depends on a lot of different factors, not just the manufacturing process of the SoC

  • Yes, 3 times as much, maybe because it have black hole in the screen haha, or maybe because S10e don't have under screen fingerprint reader (like Mi9 SE).. Battery is similar, but processor is better on S10e On the other hand S10e will be globally available, Mi9SE.. Who knows (i hope so). Because it seems like good midrange Compact smartphone for good price (under 300 euros).

  • Wait global version if you want band 20.. But for ,330-350$ (on aliexpress) this phone is great with SD,712_ Amoled etc

  • No LTE 800Mhz, hahaha, joke

  • people don't get the point. you prefer like 500 mah Battery when the processor is now on 10nm. The low the nanometer the less battery consumption. If you attach 5000 mah to 10 or 7nm then you over charged or left the mobile charged overnight possibly it will explore either whilst using device or when the phone stuck charging. god mercy have some research.

  • just add a headphone jack to this phone and it will be perfect otherwise nope

  • Agree, this is enough for me too plus with NFC, could switch my Mi5 too

  • Phone doesn't value until these modifications are to complete. Battery is not enough, At least it should be above 5000 MAP. Internal memory need to be expand over 120 GB

  • Waiting for it, brilliant design with handy

  • Totally agreed. I couldn't tell the difference between a 1080P display or a WQHD+ display, so the extra money spend on that for me is a waste. Not to mention WQHD+ display would consume more battery...

  • no external memory card slot is a spoiler for me. if it had that, bigger battery, OIS (has EIS?) and AndroidOne I'd buy it for sure.. even with this battery, but no card slot, that's a no..

  • Is this Mi9 SE have Global version?

  • Compare the specs!! I am talking about the design and not the specs The specs of mi 9 are better than s10 the snapdragon chipset is better than exynos it has better cameras with bigger sensor size I don't care about the qhd display

  • Almost a perfect phone for my taste: less than 150mm with nfc and ir blaster! Just OIS is missing and it lacks a bit of mAh... Even if it has a battery-efficient soc, i'd prefer to have a bigger battery (compensating with a slight bigger width). However let's hope at MCW2019 in Barcellona, Xiaomi will announce a Global version with LTE 20 band P.S. I could change my Mi6 for this Mi9 SE

  • Thank you very much for the detailed answer. I have always just been comparing what the product brief PDF's said but now I know where to actually look :)

  • it is most compact phone for a mid range budget segment till date

  • look at the specification sheet of 712 from Qualcomm site--https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-712-mobile-platform Camera Image Signal Processor: Qualcomm Spectra™ 250 image signal processor, 2x Image Signal Processor (ISP), 14-bit Dual Camera, MFNR, ZSL, 30fps: Up to 16 MP Single Camera, MFNR, ZSL, 30fps: Up to 32 MP Single Camera, MFNR: Up to 48 MP Single Camera: Up to 192 MP Video Capture: Rec. 2020 color gamut video capture, Up to 10-bit color depth video capture, UltraHD Video Capture

  • its one of the most compact phone i have ever seen, look at the width and height of this phone so its actually the real beauty.........

  • Guys i own a Xiaomi 8 se and i can tell you the 3000 mah is enough because it uses power efficient cpu plus an amoled display which also consumes less power than a normal lcd. I can get around 5-6 SOT with heavy usage. So alot of u are concerned about the batt. It'll do just fine... Ill be upgrading to 9 SE this year :)

  • Mi9 vs S10 ... compare the same specs and criteria.

  • What ugly ??? This is the best looking cameras Just check samsung s10 to know what ugly means

  • Can anyone explain how the Mi 9 SE also has a 48MP camera when the SD 712 does not support more than 32MP? Or does it actually?

  • let's hope so :)

  • Fast charging has nothing to do with the form of USB connector. the same is for transfer-speeds. It's not universal, there are a lots of versions for some functions, so cables are not always compatible. better looking lol may be that is responsible for that overhyping :D

  • but don't forget the OLED screen. If the Mi 9 has an Dark Mode, the Mi 9 has hopefully got one aswell. And you can use OLED-Mode Reddit, Kiwi-Browser (has an OLED-Mode that turns websites black) and many other OLED tools.

  • "With that powersaving CPU battery is good enough." powersaving CPU - lol you say that about an overclocked one ... and totally forget the big screen and other powerhungry hw, hi-res cameras and the therefore needed more processing and so on ... so no, that small battery is good enough for the OEM only The same about the other nice sayings

  • Ugly design phone. Look at that back body and that rear camera it looks very ugly.

  • Is there an upgrade program for the US?

  • totally agree, but there is only one smaller phone with good specs and an OLED-Display and NFC, and that's the Samsung S10E which nearly costs 3 times as much!

  • Does the Mi9SE have the same bezel length of Mi 9?

  • micro-USB is just outdated and the USB-C is a modern standard by all means. Mi 9 SE is more compact and does not have a pop-up camera. This component will sooner or later get stuck. The only thing which is better on the vivo smartphone is the battery.

  • Im an 8 se user and im planning to upgrade to this. Ill Wait for the review tho.

  • please make it global and reach here in the Philippines ^_^

  • USB-C is more capable than Micro USB. - Video transmission - Fast charging - No fumbling to get it the right way up - Universal - Generally better looking - More durable, due to it being upside-downable I rest my case.

  • Xiaomi Mi 9 SE or Vivo V15 Pro? USB type C is just a gimmick. you don't need type C on phone unlike on laptop with thunderbolt 3

  • Nice processor, good camera (same sensor as Mi 9), compact, battery should be around 3300mAh or more and Amoled screen. Nearly the perfect phone. But it lacks an important LTE band which is quite important in my country. Hopefully when it is officially released in my country it will get this LTE band.

  • Yeah. The size seems good. Wish other oem's too release similar sized or lower sized smartphone. Those who agree hit a like. ;-)

  • Almost perfect phone size. Maybe next time do a notch-less phone no longer than 140 cm in length. That would be the perfect size. I'm tired of these monstrosities reaching 160 cm lengths. Absolutely scandalous.

  • Ok. This phone makes the Moto G7 series look like a joke. Like, you get flagship performance for a price that almost matches the G7 Plus. And, at least it gives out updates faster than Moto. But, you do miss out some things like, faster charging with the Moto, while also having stock android on it's hands, and no advertisements and no bloat. But, competition is steep, and the Mi 9 series might be turning to one great series of flagship killers out there. This phone is looking to be in pretty good shape. We'll see what the reviews have for us.

  • Wow, I have been waiting for a perfect size phone with decent configuration and this fits perfectly to the criteria. I hope other companies will take cue from this and will offer similar options.

  • is the main camara dept correct?

  • Perfect size phone! Although, still too small battery, even for this size. (compared to P20, which is similar size)

  • i like it.fully packed.but im really a fan of 3.5mm port.

  • Phone is definitely outstanding and promising. Jack is not essential and is not needed. IP protection is not essential and is not needed. No warranty covers water damage. Battery is great enough as the CPU is not powerhungry. Other features are very velcomed.

  • Man which warranty covers water damage??? Noone. Also unless you live in a rainforest IP protection is useless. Is for clumsy careless people rest of the users dont needs to pay extra cost for IP protection which is nothing else just an expensive feature not worth to have by people which care for their phone.

  • For what??? My Phone Moto X4 have 64GB disk space and i filled like 40GB in 2 years. From which 12GB is for games. Who needs a SD Card slot if the phone space is big enough.

  • With that powersaving CPU battery is good enough. Jack is not essential and is not needed. And IP protectio in for clumsy people. Anyway no warranty will cover water damage so IP protection is just very expensive gimmick which have no use.

  • Why Xiaomi dont announce SAR values? For example mi8 se. Nearly 1 year past, there is no information about SAR value

  • Whilst I agree this phone may not have satisfactory screen on time, I don't see why you would set an arbitrary limit on 4000 mah phones. As per GSMs Mi 9 review, the smaller battery actually compares well against bigger capacities thanks to a more efficient chip and screen. For example, my Redmi has a 4100 mah battery but gets the same rating as the Mi 9! Benchmarks are the only thing that matters.

  • The battery is the biggest compromise in this device other than that its really nice !! I love the back and its beautiful.

  • I was tempted by last year's Mi 8 SE but didn't go for it because of the limited number of LTE bands, same problem now with the Mi 9 SE. I can use phones with LTE Band 7 in Canada, where I live, unlike Americans whose carriers don't have Band 7, but I worry about the resale value of phones lacking LTE Band 4 (1700/2100) which is much more common across North America. Plus the small battery, only 3070 mAh, is pathetic for a 2019 phone, a total deal breaker for me. I am currently using the Pocophone F1 with a 4000 mAh battery and I wouldn't be happy with a battery that was much smaller than this.

  • bettery to go for redmi note 7 and 7 pro. better battery, jack, fm radio, sd card slot ... sd 710/712 no difference

  • no ip68, no deal!

  • Battery spoilt a very good phone..

  • And where is the sd card slot, what the hell xiaomi!

  • Battery needs to be bigger! And a headphone jack! Some IP rating would also be great!

  • Size, weight, cpu, price, all good anything to say on this. For me on March it's gonna be this or Xperia 10 for the Sony interface and design
