Xiaomi Mi A1 (Mi 5X) - User Reviews

  • No such issue for my phone after October update, probably you should Reboot the phone, if it doesn't help try Factory Reset Anyway i just update to November security patch yesterday, so far no issue.

  • November update seeding

  • Oh man, after the Oct 2019 security update, unlocking the phone has become painfully slow. A restart helps but the phone slows after about an hour and keeps getting worse. Anyone else experiencing this issue? Hopefully, it will be solved in next month's update.

  • Don't update, just do a backup & factory reset your phone, it will be as good as new, new update make the phone slow & lagging.

  • yup,i think you have to update

  • Huh weird, in my opinion Nougat was the worst. eMMC got buggy as hell, wasn't able to write a single kilobyte and I was lucky to backup everything. Updated to Oreo and had no problems, same with Pie. Strangely I bought a Global version but it came installed with Indian firmware, plus some Xiaomi apps installed. If someone knows where to download the official stock global Nougat firmware for Mi A1, I'd be very thankful.

  • Just leave it as it is, install some cleaning apps to clean up residual cache, that's usually the reason your phone slowing down. After experiencing Nougat, Oreo & Pie, i would say Nougat 7.1.2 is still the best, Oreo been the worst, if you are on Oreo now then update it to Pie, but if you are still on Nougat then just stay in Nougat.

  • In my case I downloaded Nova Launcher, there were some default elements I didn´t like so it was a matter of preference.

  • My own phone got updated just the other day on 24th October. I'm from Southern Europe for your reference and each month it updates. Wait till November.

  • My phone hasn't been updated since buying. I'm afraid to update because of any software problems that might occur, but it started slowing down so I assume I have to update it. Any suggestions: should I update or leave it like this ?

  • The phone actually supports 256gb, I'm using it. A good phone with good community support, except for the small battery.

  • Just got an update of 67 MB Security Patch level: 1st October , 2019 Good .... receiving update even after 25 months of its purchase.

  • Officially there is no news about Android 10 for MiA1. What you mentioned is beta version of custom ROM 'Pixel Experience' of Android 10. Bleak chances that it will get official Android 10.

  • Slap on the top part next to the main camera, not harm trying, some says it works.

  • Android 10 for MiA1 by end of November (probably only Beta version), full version should be Q1 2020.

  • the gps is not working

  • The performance still good in 2 years operation. Still good to playing modern game like Call of Duty and PUbg. But the multitasking isn't good.

  • Mi A1 was released in September 2017. It's just mid October 2019. Precisely it's just 2 years and 15 days old. But you claim to be using it from 2.5 years. How is it possible? Anyway it's a great phone and can go on for at least a year more without any issues. Till then it will be time for 5G compliant phones. I would suggest to buy any new Android One phone ( Nokia would be reliable) in 2020. Till then have great time with mi A1. Till this day I have had no problems with it.

  • You can go two years straight on Mi A1 also in the future. I have this one for a second year and it works. Same sim card too, not planning to do anything about this setup.

  • Android 10 to this phone, when?

  • Holy cow it does work :lol But i just slap the upper back of my phone, get instant GPS lock, wonder how one can kick their phone ?? :lol

  • Everybody who has problem with gps try this. Kick your phone upper backside where is gps antena. I ve found this advice on some forum and it really works. It seams it's a hardware problem. I was long time looking for solution.Tried everything. Even install custom rom and nothing helped. For info I'm on pixel rom. And what really matters my phone was never dropped. It could be a bad contact on housing. Please somebody confirm or I m wrong.

  • My friends who own a MiA3 & a Mi9T complain the same MiA1 has very snappy GPS back in 2017 when i first bought it, the issue begin after November 2017 update & get worsening after Oreo update on 31st December 2017, since then the issue never able to resolve till date, certain month update improves it slightly & then it get totally useless, that's why i suspect it's due to the firmware update.

  • GPS connection has been a consistent issue with Mi A1 for the last 1½ years. And most of us were blaming the updates that were received during the course of two years period, but to me it looks like a hardware issue on this device. Will someone enlighten us about GPS situation on subsequent Xiaomi devices.....

  • September update once again causing issue with the GPS, Google map navigation & Waze become unstable.

  • Nokia 7.2 will be a good choice if you want Android One phone, MiA3 is a lousy choice as it come with 720p screen & very slow screen finger print sensor, no sd card slot.

  • What would be a great replacement for this device? Im already using it for 2.5years and im looking for a replacement or using the Mi A1 for another 2 years.

  • Why download a 30MB launcher when a 1.4MB widget can do the same task... lol You don't breed a cow just for a glass of milk do you... lol

  • Microsoft launcher works better than stanwo off

  • Use Microsoft Launcher. That launcher has this capability. I already use this fuction.

  • Probably due to some apps you download, i have this issue back in early 2018, that was due to the problematic Oreo update, but the issue been solved in Q2 2018, the issue never recurs till today. Or else you can check your battery, maybe is time for replacement, though Xiaomi battery are very durable, my still in perfect condition despite my phone will be 3 years in a couples of week.

  • Hi guys my Mi A1 keep getting a sudden shut down anyone have a solution for this ?

  • Nope if you mean after September security update.

  • Do a backup in Google Drive & Factory Reset the phone, (If you have important WhatsApp then do a backup for your WhatsApp as well).

  • Hi. Today I got my phone updated with Android V 9, after that, my SIM got out of service, I couldn't make or receive calls. How to rectify it.

  • You can try the stanwu Off+ as recommend by another fellow here, apparently this Off+ doesn't need to go thru pattern, just touch the fingerprint sensor instantly unlock, search stanwu in Google Play then download the Off+ (there are Off & Off+ choose the one with + as it compatible with fingerprint sensor).

  • thanks. I couldn't find loewe lock. So, I am using fleddging developers. But it looks as device admin so have to use pattern to unlock instead of fingerprint. Off screen/ fingerprint seems to keep screen awake and if we touch screen, screen turns on.

  • You can try OFF (Screen Off / Finger print unlock support) under stanwu, can download from Google Play

  • Since last security update my mi a1 is very slow and especially slow down on WiFi network and opening web pages. Anyone else the same?

  • Yes, from Google Play, i am using Lock by Loewe, there are many others lock screen widgets in Google Play, choose those without advertisements.

  • which widget are you using? I can't find one. Do we have install it from play store?

  • September security update is out (68 MB).

  • It is confirm that it wont updated to android q but will still providing sexurity update. Where u get that information? Maybe u can share it here?

  • Source, or it's fake news. Didn't find any legit report about it!

  • Android 10 for MiA1 in late November, It's already announced, try update yourself before giving statement which you have zero knowledge off.

  • Google promises two major version for Android One. Now that the A1 received two major version after Nougat, I doubt if Android 10 update would be officially rolled. Mi A2 and Mi A3 would certainly be getting Android 10.

  • Nope, unless you replaced those button, is a well known issue with all Xiaomi phone, i have this issue since Mi3 era, seems like Xiaomi never rectify it. i installed lock screen widget in my MiA1, which ia why i seldom uses the power button, this is to prolong the power button durability.

  • Yeah, I am having the same problem too. It was working flawlessly few months ago and all of a sudden, I had to press really hard to get it to work.

  • I am having hard time pressing volume and power button. Can it be fixed?

  • Yes sir. When I posted this Android 10 wasn't officially announced.

  • This phone is the max radiation emitting cellphone as per German Federal Office for Radiation Protection database for phones and their radiations emissions.

  • Mi 5x excellent phone .great 12+12 cameras.slim and smart.

  • (contd) Display consumes ~150mA, another ~100mA by Apps. This means 9% of Battery consumed per Hour of continuous use. This implies 11hrs of Continuous use. Actual use is 1/3rd of this. I easily get 33hrs+ of use in one full charge. This from a 2yr-Old phone! NOT BAD. I do better than this. I charge partially upto 90% regularly and USE the Phone while Charging! This is Against recommendation! The PHONE gets HOT. But MY phone has NOT crossed 38 dC yet (no covers please). Keep the Back of the Phone exposed, well ventilated under a fan or better in an A/C room (in this case the temperature goes down to 31 dC). SAFE. If you use a Laptop while Charging, WHY can't you use a Phone? It's like having an UPS! Nothing happens to the "Calibration" of the battery capacity. I've another useful suggestion. When the Battery shows ~90% and you start using the phone, START CHARGING as well. This is in the Constant Voltage region of your Battery and the Charging current is

  • I'm using Andr8.1.0 Nov18, REFUSED Andr9 till date (Aug19 upd). The latter has AWFUL UI, Only One "pill" (Home) Button. Using the supplied 20W Charger of Xiaomi, the Charging current is 1950 mA till Battery at 4.375V, ~82%. GSMArena review (old) is WRONG. I get 71% charged (Actually) in 1 hour, not 30% as reviewed. My MiA1 3080mAh battery is giving 2750mAh Actual, ie, 89% of max possible. It's same as brand new. My Phone will be 2yr old this September. Quite flawless Service ex one loss due to Andr8 Update, lost SMS, but most restored by my Own effort ex recent 12days. Xiaomi Service/help on this was laughably Zero. I said, NO to Andr9. I'm SAFE and Happy. The Phone is as snappy as NEW.

  • LOL GPS, 4G and everything else working flawlessly here.

  • lol, updated version means more secure, more efficient, more robust, updated API level.

  • Android 10 you mean, No more Android Q as Google decides to stop using desserts name.

  • Doubt there intend to do so, i have this issue since Mi3 which is 5 years ago, Xiaomi want you to change phone every year.

  • Is this device getting Android Q? Just asking. Won't be disappointed if it didn't. I am happy with this device and hoping to use it for a long time.

  • Xiaomi should improve their Volume and particularly the Powee button. I am aso facing the same problem.

  • YOU HAVE TO LEARN SOMETHING! Just update your device until the LATEST update of the native version of Android. This means: this phone was launched with Android 7.1.2, don't update to 8 or 9. It's so simple. I have this phone, Android 7, everything OK!!!!!!!!

  • Stop your illusion, there are the same thing, root is something else, conclusions is even after factory reset the GPS problem still persists, inaccurate GPS position, slow lock in to position, constant loss of GPS signal.

  • Hard reset means going to root and wipe data which is different from factory reset.

  • This is a common problems with Xiaomi phone, I have 2 other Xiaomi phone having the same problem, only way to solve it is to replace the button & mechanism, my current MiA1 doesn't have this issue because I installed lock screen widget & I always uses finger print sensor to unlock, try minimise the usage of power & volume rocker as much as possible.

  • Same thing happened to my MiA1 as well, I am on August security patch, after hard reset or some named it factory reset, GPS problem still there, I wasted 3 hours to set up the phone after hard reset, what a waste of time.

  • My GPS issue solved in July update

  • Done latest August update, as well as hard resetting, all to no avail, gps issue still there.

  • I have a problem with this phone. The volume and power button doesnt respond on first click as it used to be before.

  • Had problem of battery drain and and gps failed to respond correct positioning after update to Android 9. Finally, did hard reset and am back to good SOT and gps back on track. This might help users who suffered after the update.

  • Update to latest firmware

  • i bought 2 weeks ago distributor warranty in Indonesia, my complaint why the battery feels wasteful huh, is it really like that, I use xiaomi 4x prime, very durable battery ..

  • Yes, I am serious, I'm not the only user with said problems. Good for you for not having to live with it, not having GPS is a major letdown and frustrating when using Waze or Google Maps!

  • serious? hahaha ... I use this smartphone as my daily driver, even my whole family using this smartphone (really!) since it was first released in Indonesia. I always update every month and always do a factory reset after updating. Now, in this July 2019 update, this smartphone is still capable of running any application without lag, the battery can still last up to 10 hours in normal use, and there are no lost GPS constraints and slow 4G. No audio problem, no charging problem, no camera problem! I'm very happy with the quality of Xiaomi smartphone. Maybe I'll still survive until Mi A4 release: D

  • More than One year 10 months ....still nice one.. giving good company Wanted a change to latest Android One by XIAOMI .. but disappointed by the screen resolution of Mi A3 , hence will have to wait and wait till Xiaomi launches new Android one. hope xiaomi launches one with LCD screen of good resolution ....1080P LCD Screens are good for colour editing of Images as they come closure to natural colours.

  • Xiaomi stock android still come with some rubbish, like those Xiaomi apps come pre installed. Anyway nowadays even Samsung One UI come with very little pre installed apps that can't be delete or deactivate.

  • updated to 8 out of the box and Pie 9 now and may be to q soon ... and Every months we have security update this is the best of android one This phone is simply AMAZING

  • I don't like the built in garbage pre-installed on non-stock Android versions. I don't like to bother rooting and doing other procedures to remove those gargabe. Android stock, for me, it's a no-garbage phone, but IT'S NOT an "always updated day 0" phone.

  • What's the purpose of buying an Android One phone where you don't update to newer version of Android ? the reason people buying stock android phone is to be the first one to get latest update.

  • Does anyone tried MIUI OS in this phone? If there is, does it work or perform well than android one?

  • YOU HAVE TO LEARN SOMETHING! Just update your device until the LATEST update of the native version of Android. This means: this phone was launched with Android 7.1.2, don't update to 8 or 9. It's so simple. I have this phone, Android 7, everything OK!!!!!!!!

  • Seems like the service responsible for displaying call UI is not working properly. By any chance, did you recently disabled something with root access? If yes, then try enabling them and restart your device. If not, you might be able to fix it by clearing data of the responsible service from System Apps list. I forgot the exact name of that service, but try enabling/clearing data of the these services (or similar named): InCallUI Input Devices PopupuiReceiver com.sec.android.app.msa com.sec.android.app.mss com.sec.phone com.sec.bcservice DeviceTest

  • the usual solution 1) reboot your phone it it doesn't work 2) do a back up & factory reset the phone if it still doesn't work 3) sent to SC for repair finally it doesn't work 4.) thrown it away & buy a MiA3

  • Same here. Seems to be an ongoing problem with Xiaomi android one.

  • after july update my audio setting does not work. why..?

  • Today morning onward, while some one calling to my phone, phone is not showing the calling person and also I cant attend the call (only ringing n vibrating).Once the call is disconnected the number is there in the log.No issue with phone display..Any one can help me out?

  • Security update available for July 2019.

  • Just got July UPDATE.... All good so far

  • Only 2 majors update, Pie is the last update MiA1 gets, after this there will be less security update, probably only once every quarter or twice a year before the update stops completely, is end of the road for A1.

  • Have been using this phone since its launch date, The phone itself is great but it seems either Google(?) or Xiaomi(?) purposely wants people to abandon Mi A1 and switch to their respective newer available phones by giving problematic updates. GPS not working after upgrading from Android 8.1 to Android 9. I have waited long for a gps fix update and unfortunately even July 2019 update does'nt fix the gps issue. It's comical and outrageous at the same time! 4G issue is real! I have dropped connections multiple times everyday even though I live at a city and download speed are considerably lower from 9.9Mbps to around 6.5-7.5Mbps only! Battery drain issue is there, but since I'm a light user I can get by each day no problem. Helpful reminder : STAY on Android 8.0/8.1! DO NOT upgrade to Android 9!

  • If I use mobile data , both sim is using internet. If I switch off sim 2 mobile data , sim 1 internet not working. I need to use sim 1 mobile data alone . What should I do

  • Probabaly.....No.

  • Will the mi a1 get android q now???

  • Your phone memory corrupted, try reboot the phone, if it doesn't work, do a backup & factory reset.

  • Just hard reset it, long press power button till the phone turn off, then reboot it. If this doesn't work, try factory reset.

  • Memory started acting up after one year of use, I wasn't able to save absolutely anything so I checked various forums and turns out some Mi A1 phones have an issue with memory, apparently chip wasn't manufactured correctly. Really frustrating, but Pie firmware fixed the problem and so far no issues with the phone. Regarding battery drain for some users, mine actually consumes less battery now which is great. It's a russian roulette with this phone basically.

  • It doesn't work

  • Drain the battery to 0 and begin charging then turn on

  • My phone is stuck in restarting loop. Can anyone help me in this? Pleae i need helop

  • I have Used this phone from last one year and still i am using this one but as per opinion and review by the customer which is posted in this site is totally wrong this phone still working fabulous and i have not faced the problem like that. If you are facing the problem then u have to remove unused apps and make ur phone Updated with latest firmware always clean ur history after using 1 hrs and switch off ur mobile for 2 hrs on a day. delete extra folder with unnecessary data from file manager . Clear all catches from apps on week . Then You will never face the issue like this till die.

  • New update today.

  • When I first got my MiA1 it was one of the best phones I have ever had. I have the International version purchased from Amazon USA. After the Pie and Security updates the phone battery drain issue is too much. I have even tried the hard factory and it did not solve the battery drain issue. I loved this phone and love Xiaomi but am so disappointed in the lack of support. I have no choice but to revert to my Moto 5G. So Sad!

  • Yes, I have same problem. Around 6h SoT before, now I have 3-4h SoT :(

  • After May update my phone drop down to less than 3 hours from 6 to 7 SOT. Does anyone else got this issue?

  • K20 @ Mi9T @ Poco F2

  • Mi A1 or Poco F1 ?

  • Same here

  • That's include Pie update, prepared for Battery drain issue, GPS issue, 4G reception issue, if you need to use Waze & Google Mao Navigation frequently is better to stay in Oreo 8.1 Btw i don't see any new stuff in Pie, is more like update for the sake of update.

  • That is for an update to Android 9 pie.

  • Now i m on android oreo 8.1 but i receive may 2019 security update size around 1105.7MB..should i go update or not?how about this update have many bugs or not??pls help me guys?

  • Same problem here, no icons to receive calls, I have call back each time someone calls Please fix this issue

  • Already download, haha.. no need to wait till tomorrow.

  • Last day with MiA1. Had a great time using it. Moving to new Xiaomi device from tomorrow. Long live MiA1.

  • May update will seed from tomorrow, weighing around 71 mb.

  • Xiaomi might have restricted the maximum volume of the speaker in order to reduce Energy consumption thus increasing battery on time per battery charge.

  • I agree the speaker is kinda weak than before,it is smoother now but the battery is still meh. still hoping that xiaomi improve and fix this problem. and also is Android Q will be avail. to us sooner or later?

  • My Mi A1 device speaker output is almost reduced to 40% as compared to when purchased. With Android nougat 7.1. As my speaker is ok as I did hardware test and it passed that test. So I just wanna know the reason for low audio output on loud speaker.can anybody help me with this.

  • I am also facing similar problem with Phone App that when ia call is coming at times there is no icon to answer the incoming call.

  • I have same with this app update, I am not logged into google but the phone reports updating apps ad infinitum. Also the phone call app is giving problem again: when i receive a call there is no icon to answer an incoming call and I end up having to call the person back.

  • After April update like right after the first boot after the update there is this notification from Android setup that says 'app updates are ready' and connect to WiFi. Even after connecting to WiFi it goes to a setup page but start button is greyed out like it does nothing... So basically this notification doesn't go away now.... Is anyone else having the same issue and how to can I rectify it..... And also the there are ghost touches for the volume bar like sometimes it increases and decreases by itself without touching screen...

  • Xiaomi , .. in their zeal to increase Battery Time of Mi A1 , it seems, through the recent Software updates, have resorted to reducing the peak volume of the Speaker of Mi A1 ( thus conserving battery energy leading to long screen on-time). We all know that with the usage of a phone over one year, Battery does degrades a little bit and screen on time is bound to decrease with passage of time until we replace the Battery. But this method of reduction of volume ( through software updates) has marred the listening pleasure of youtube and other videos music. It is high time that XIAOMI reverts back to the original peak Volume through corrective Update in the coming month. Listening pleasure is more important than screen on time. Hope Xiaomi corrects this aberration.

  • Even after this uodate speaker sound volume of youtube videos is still low. After Pie update ...and...with successive updates various problems are getting added to this device. Though I am waiting for Mi A3 but with the quality of updates to Mi A1v ...I am in a fix whether to go with Xiaomi .Mi A3.

  • I totally agree with you. The battery life is degrading. It's getting worse after March. The phone is good and smooth. Only the battery life is awful!

  • Yes ! ....app " PicsArt Photo studio & Editor" has become functional after re-installation. Might be some cache memory problem.

  • Never heard of this app before but I installed it and it works for me. Try clearing cache and data. Uninstalled the app because it requures login with an account and there is no way

  • Yeah agree about the colours, all washed out, especially reds. I can't see a thing in bright sunlight either. Still, the edges are sharp, it's something?

  • Reboot your phone, clean up residual cache

  • After April' 2019 update of 257 MB , one App "PicsArt Photo studio & Editor" is not opening on my Mi A1. Even a re-installation of this App has made no change in the situation.

  • April security patch update available 257.6MB

  • Not sure what phone you been using before MiA1, Since i been using Samsung all this while, i can says that MiA1 screen is really bad, colour are washed off, yellowish tint. 4G signal really bad, GPS inaccurate & weak, constant loss track. Camera really bad in low light.

  • I agree. Battery life has become dismissal, pathetic. I no longer get more than 24 hours usage after full charge. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling some apps I was suspecting were the cause, restarting the phone but it's just different after. Even the equalizer settings always reset itself when I close the Google Music app

  • Anybody else finding that the battery life is worse after the March update? Really like this phone otherwise. It's not the fastest but it handles everything fine. The screen isn't great but it is sharp.

  • I don't know if it's just me or not, but After the update i think the fingerprint become slower, before, when I use it, the phone will instantly unlocked but now i have to wait for 3 seconds or so. Also, the screen brightness is still too dark.

  • nope, nothing like that. had the phone 1.5yrs. running Pie no issues, the only thing that happened maybe 3 times is the micro sd card I use for pictures/video came unmounted by itself then it remounted instantly, and only when I unlocked the phone, but it hasn't affected the phone in any way. In fact, I suspected the sim card tray is a bit loose, because when I set the phone down on a table in a quiet room, I can hear a very light sounding metallic rattle that a sim card tray would make if it were loose. I haven't opened the phone since it was new so I won't bother now. Pie has been great, I was hesitant at first but it came in with the March or Feb. security update so I couldn't avoid it anymore. Battery is ok with moderate use, but will last many days with data/wifi off and limited use. This is the global version running in Canada on public mobile.

  • I think that you should do a bit of research on how GPS works. It has nothing to do with SIM cards or the density of settlement in which you find yourself.

  • Is anyone else having random vibration in there phone. BTW my phone is always in vibration mode....but after March update my phone randomly vibrates even when there's no notification of anything...

  • BSG 5.2.022 Stable version (bold), find it in Celso Azevedo files

  • I have this phone since October 2017, 1 year ahead of you, the GPS are pathetic even in city centre, when i took out the sim card & insert into Samsung phone the GPS super fast, when i reinsert back to MiA it slower than a snail. Each update brings more problems, worst Android One phone i ever use.

  • I have had this phone since September 2018 and I think that for the money, it's absolutely brilliant - the GPS accuracy seems as good as any other cheap phone I've had (if not slightly better) and I've not had any issues with mine!

  • Ear piece didn't work properly

  • Right. Slightly improvment in gps. But not 100% accurate

  • Those who didn't get February update get 348MB March update, while those who already installed February patch get 303MB update. GPS still kind of slow though slightly better than last update, 4G signal slight improved.

  • Erroneously mentioned as 386.1 instead of correct 348.1 MB.

  • Today got 386.1 Mb 5th March' 2019 update .

  • With new March security update, phone is very working very smooth

  • March Security Patch is available, 303.7MB

  • Thanks a lot! Cheerios :)

  • I rooted my phone and boy was the rear camera great but my selfie shows a lot of green tinges on it. What's the most compatible GCAM for MiA1 with great overall shots (normal, night mode, portrait and selfie)? Help please.

  • Which models of protective glass (that still sell) will fit this model? It's been a while since A1 has been released and I can't find a protective glass for it. Case, too.

  • Probably Xiaomi hasn't got the solution for February patch bugs, just wait for it patiently, a late update is better than a problematic update like the February patch i have in my phone now. As matter of fact this is not the first time Xiaomi missed a monthly update, same things happened during Oreo update in early 2018, Where the phone give hell of a time, the updates actually skip for a couple's of month.

  • No way! I'm 99% sure that support continues to at least summer/fall.

  • Runs EXCELLENT with LineageOS 15.1. Definitely recommend this phone, superb battery life.

  • Exactly

  • Android one to Android Gone

  • Exactly, it seems they have abandoned this phone.

  • February security patch was not given .some say it was pulled back. BUT WHERE IS MARCH '2019 Security patch...... Xiaomi

  • Xiaomi pull back the February security patch due to many complaints from those who update it (i am one of them). Just wait for March Security Patch, hopefully there can solve the GPS issue which is quite annoying since i uses Waze daily & play Pokemon Go, since MiA1 is my secondary phone, i use it as GPS navigation & for playing games, now i have to use my main phone which is a Samsung, often i get call while on Waze, this is very inconvenient for me.

  • No ... No such notification of Feb 2019 update received till date. Please inform, if anyone from India, who has received February' 19 update..

  • Super phone, i'm very happy, before Mi A1 4gb/64gb i have RN5 Ai camera(3gb), only battery life is better on redmi note 5 ai camera, I;m not intereset in benchmark test, only real work in real time and app, and Mi A1 is faster in normal app, like viber, stock app, and all google app. Cameras it's equal.

  • There is a security patch update Feb 05, 2019.

  • Still no update since last one on 5-1-2019

  • Flash your Mi A1 to pixel experience and you won't regret never. Yout Mi A1 will be better and the camera (Gcam 5.1) is simply amazing. Download the .zip file here pixelexperience.org, find Tissot and follow the instructions in xda to flash it. Also learn about a dirty flash.

  • We have the same complaint here as well, i believe is a worldwide issue, if you notice a few people here says there didn't get February update till date, i assumed the Xiaomi@Google pull back the update & try to rectify the issue after numerous complaints from user. Let hope there can solved it soonest possible in the next update.

  • no update of February still....

  • Then even your phone must have an carrier issue. I assumed you to be Indian because most people complaining about gps and 4g connectivity seemed indians.

  • Around 271MB, No significant improvement, but GPS become worse, there have halt the update after many complaint, now there trying to rectify it, just wait for another update.

  • Not yet received February update. Still on 5th January update. Anybody who has received it .. please confirm its size and positives.

  • Since February update I see 🔋 battery is lasting longer.

  • I'm using a custom rom on my MiA1 and i dont have any bugs or problems on my phone. I suggest users of MiA1 to flash a custom rom for a better experience.

  • Please read before you react. I was very specific about case of India and JIO. I didn't say that it's a worldwide problem with A1. and no phone is perfect, be A1 or any other.

  • Still not get February update... But mi a2 get early that mi a1..

  • Probably been pull back due to bugs.

  • I am not from India, i dont use Jio Network, i still has GPS issue. Please take note that MiA1 is not a India only phone, it's sell worldwide.

  • This issue is with jio connectivity. It is not isolated to only mi a1 devices, it's jio issue.

  • The GPS issue is not an isolated case in India alone, i am not from from India, My MiA1 too faced with GPS issue, i took out the sim card & insert into another phone & there ia no issue, then i put in 2 different network sim card into my MiA1 again the GPS has issue, this cleanly shows the issue are with MiA1, nothing to do with the network.

  • For all those who are in India and using JIO network. There are problems with network connectivity and GPS issues due to it. It has nothing to do with MiA1.

  • February update not yet received. Mi A1 is still at the last 5th January 2019 update.

  • I have the same GPS issue as you mentioned, another issue i noticed is the 4G connection not stable, whenever i lost 4G signal i loss the GPS position as well, it's really frustrating. Do Xiaomi/Goggle even test the update prior to release to customers, or there just wait for customers to complaint to identify any issue with the update. Now i am just waiting for Samsung A50 or M30 to launch & wave goodbye to my MiA1 & Xiaomi forever.

  • I don't understand why others have so many problems with this phone. Already used it for more than 2 years. Got some minor problems after major update but usually resolved in the next update. Eg: slow fingerprint sensor after Pie upgrade resolved in Feb update. So far I like this phone. Cheap, decent photo quality, smooth and many more. Have no GPS issues at all. Working just fine.

  • Still GPS issues after Feb.5 update. For Waze takes long time to get location, some other programs that uses location services also has issues to obtain data. Googgle maps seems improoved ability to obtain gps and it is working now. "GPS tools" shows 30 satelites available, but can not fix any of them for 5 min. in open area. And when fixed, looses them again. So far can not distinguish GPS behavior to any other activity on phone (e.g. data transfer on 4G, etc..). Different setups tried for location service accuracy, wifi&bluetooth scanning options, powersaving modes.. Baube HW issue and Pie upgrade just coincidence..but do not believe..

  • The Xiaomi is cheap, and cheap for a reason. Less than a year, and it cant do basic functions such as hold 3g or 4g signal. Wifi connection is disgusting and constantly requires restarts to get it to work. None of my other devices (Samsung/Huawei/Apple) behave in this way. Stay away.

  • Zero improvements after the update, GPS position still not accurate, constant lost of GPS signal, Waze & Google Maps Navigation are almost useless due to inaccurate GPS.

  • Since pie update I'm getting Google play services error messages all the time. Cleared cache, cleared data, removed updates and a combination of them but this annoying message keeps coming back. Anyone else have the same? and is there any way to solve this.

  • It's not any sort of a radiation but it is a phone feature that is active phone noise cancellation. I also used to face it on my iphone 7, just turn it off and all would be fine. If you would have noted it generally occurs when you are in an open area but not when at your home or a covered space. Just try it once.

  • While pressing dial pad it takes 20 to 30 second to come dial pad.while receiving calls it takes long time to show caller screen. Can anyone suggest what to do.i am running pie version.

  • Update, update available.

  • Saw 271.8mb update

  • Go for Samsung

  • Me also experiences same problem & wanted to change my mobile , pls suggest a good model.

  • Use built in FILES app its works perfectly.

  • I'm using Mi A1 for one and half years. Radiation level is so high past one month I'm having ear pain can't speak in this. I planned to change my mobile.

  • My Mi A1 is running on Android P for weeks. Please update.

  • There is a problem when using some file explorers like ES File Explorer, where a copy of file transferred from internal storage to SD Card is always 0 Kb. Is this problem solved in the 9.0 Pie update?

  • update to 8.1 oreo

  • Since you never update your software, most likely the problem are with your phone or some apps you installed, try reboot your phone, if it doesn't work, do a backup & factory reset your phone.

  • Since 13 feb my mi a1 feel warm, when i look at battey usage android system consume more battery at 30% and messages 10%...what should i do,please help me...i m still on android nougat 7.1.2

  • It will fix in February patch by xiaomi, so not do worry.

  • Too much irritation while making calls, is there any solution..?

  • As long as the SAR reading under maximum permitted figure, Xiaomi doesn't need to do anything, in fact many Xiaomi phone has high SAR reading prior to MiA1 & Xiaomi never bothered to take any action.

  • Hi, Me too concerned about the radiation level from this Mi A1. Not sure of level of impact to us today or later. I think most of the models which they listed are from china makers. Interestingly have seen iPhone 7 as well. But Mi A1 is topped the list which is worst to consider. We thought it is under Android One program and will be in good in terms of all aspects. But that is not the case with it.

  • Nowadays reading on the internet regarding the no 1 radiation radiating phone mi A1 whether the company has taken any necessary steps.

  • Great Mid-Range Device Running Pie Very Snappy! Play Pubg Smooth! Battery Pretty Not Bad!

  • try searching on the MI A1 MI A1 google camera forum

  • You certainly have a faulty device because my device doesn't have any of your complaints. I'm using a custom rom and my experience has been really snooth. Multitasking is great and i don't have any network issues. I also play pubgm on my Mi a1 and i'm having a smooth 30fps gameplay so i don't get what you are conplaining about. I also run ML on all high/ultra settings with no frame drops. Maybe you have a bad internet connection ? Overall my Mi A1 has been performing well and i only bought it for $120 brand new

  • Thank you for your response

  • Probably not. These phones are supposed to get just 2 major updates as far as I know. And this phone already got Oreo and Pie updates.

  • Hi do you think this phone will get android 10? I know it's super early but still just a question

  • May be you are correct. I have mine since a week after yours in September 2017. I am now waiting for a correctional update from Xiaomi as I have updated tp Pie last month and facing problems w.r.to GPS. I hope to get it soon ... at least Xiaomi has not disappointed in the near past.

  • SUMMER in Jan 17 ??!! Are you in Australia/ NZ? If heating is the problem now, imagine what'll happen when it is May 17? My MiA1 does not get heated up like this, only feels warm. I have it since Sep 14, 2017, seen one blistering summer and one partial one. However, I do use Cleanup app Greenify to hibernate all possible apps when not required, One Warm restart per week, One Cold re-booting per month.

  • I have MiA1 since Sep 14, 2017, so longer than you have! I've gone through all the OS you mentioned except 9.0 which I REJECT and REFUSE to update to despite 3 notifications per day, every day. 8.1.0 is very kind to my MiA1 and I'm loyal. The UI is so nice and familiar. I've 269 Apps installed, ALL function as expected. NO to AUTO updating Store Apps. Skip freq. updates, wait for 7-10 days! My NO to Android 9Pie is its design, complete break off from 8Oreo! Just like Windows 8 from 7. Too bad Microsoft HAD to come out with Win 10 (which allows features of 7). Bugs are bonus from Xiaomi/Androd for Pie users. I anyway didn't bother. A Bird in Hand is worth two in the Bush 9.0 IS THE BUSH

  • Where r u from ??

  • I am also using phones made by two other manufacturers and I still feel Mi A1 is a very nice phone, nice detail ..............

  • After the latest update... its takes long time to open the phone with finger print or by password.

  • anyone know if it s possible to install google camera app into this phone without root or deleting data?

  • Let us be hopeful that Xiaomi has, the capacity and will solve these problems which might have arisen after Pie update. I am also using phones made by two other manufacturers and I still feel Mi A1 is a very nice phone (cost & performance wise ).

  • No solution for the time been, just wait for a few updates to get it rectify, previous Oreo 8.0 took 4 months to solve those bugs. Most probably those issues you mentioned can be solved by May or June 2019 "I hope".. so cross your fingers & don't hold your breath.. lol

  • After updating to Pie, I am now having issues connecting via Wifi when Bluetooth is enabled (regardless if there is a bluetooth device connected or not). It seems that GPS is also not working properly after the update. Any suggestion/s on how I can fix it. Thank you.

  • After upgrade to Android Pie (Jan.5th release) GPS is not working as before on MiA1. Waze can not get connected to GPS. takes coule of minutes till get location when using google Maps. For me looks like sensitivity of GPS receiver is affected. Have tried different ways to get it working without success (delete A-GPS data, different power saving modes, different location accuracy, factory reset..) Nothing helps. Any ideas ?

  • did u make the stupid mistake to update to pie?

  • Currently I am facing problem of recent apps not showing up. It always show no recent apps when I minimize the app. When I restart it will work for some time and same problem restarts again. Any solutions?

  • This is one of the best performance phone AT ITS PRICE. Give it an 9 out of 10. I'm not sure if all the device will have the same weird error which I find in Mi A1 so dont rage at me please :) 1. Bad multitasking even with 4gb of ram - Force restart the game (ML) on catching a phone call, on scrolling whatsapp message. Some other apps such as FB do force restart sometimes when youre swtiching to insta or whatsapp to read some notifications. 2. Under performance of bluetooth connection - I usually connects to my carkit bluetooth for spotify streaming. The connection to the carkit is considerably slow. When the signal is weak, the whole pitch of the song went up and down. (LOL) I switched to Huawei's high end phone (Dont want to sound like im promoting) and non of this funny sound existed. 3. Well I do find the phone to be very laggy when google play is updating any apps. It is until a point you need to wait till it is finishing installing the apps to continue using it. 4. The mic needs to be highlighted as well. No problem when using handset, however, loudspeaker.. it retrieves most of the background music but not your voice. So it is tough for the other side to hear what youre saying. 5. Bad quality of network connection - Well Im not pretty sure how to address this. But when using 4g, a phone call came in, the phone lost all connection to network. However, if it is connected to wifi, youre kinda safe. (Doesnt happen to my new phone though). Wifi signal is alright. 6. Gaming performance.. Boo... If youre only playing angry birds, candy crush, and other light graphic games, this phone is alright for that. However, Pubg, Freefire, even mobile legend, framerate is considerably low under lowest graphic setting. The phone gets very hot and laggy after 30 minutes or so. 7. Overall UI performance - Crashes. I would say theres a lot of improvement needed for this phone. The newest updates seems to have fixed most of it, but its up to the current user to continue on. So good job on fixing the previous crashes~ 8. Screen - Well Im having problem to tune the screen light high enough under sunlight. It is at its highest and i still cant really see my phone's screen. With all being said, this is just my user preference when using a phone. The features i didnt touch on, are all great. Camera, speaker, design, fingerprint sensor, and etc, im very satisfied at it.

  • ...in fact I got my Mi A1 in the third week of September .. so 16 months of use . It is a nice device ...but with Pie update certain issues like hanging are seen occasionally.

  • Since i am the among the first batch buyer of MIA1 when it first launch (October 2017), i experienced all 4 Android version ie Nougat, Oreo 8.0, Oreo 8.1 & Pie 9.0, all i can says is indeed Nougat been the smoothest & almost zero bugs, GPS is accurate & fast, Oreo 8.0 been the worst. I doubts anyone here have more experience on MIa1 than me, unless you are Xiaomi Development Staff.

  • Optimal functionality-wise Oreo 8.1 is better than both Android Nougat & Android Pie. But for the sake of getting regular security updates , I had no other option except to update it to Android Pie

  • To everyone that says android 7.1.2 is faster than 8.1 oreo, what are you smoking? Oreo is 2x as fast as nougat. Pie is trash though, f those gestures.

  • so why is this phone removed from top fave by fans?

  • Mi a1 huge battery draining what I want to do?

  • I agree with u sir, android nouget 7.1.2 is still stable and no issue at all,i m happy with android nouget:)

  • After upgrade to pie my mi A1 doesn't work the phone. I made a reset and now it doesn't work on wifi either. It doesn't get IP. tryed others router without security and nothing

  • Bring back Mi A1 on TOP 10 BY FANS its gone!!!

  • Its okay now doesnt heats up like the first charge when it was upgraded to pie, I dont use other charger too. Good point it has something to do with the room temperature. Thanks

  • Yeah I agree with that, its okay now it doesnt heats up like when I first upgraded it to android pie.

  • My MiA1 never heat up while charging, i never use the Stock charger though, too many leftover charger from previous phone... the charger outlast the phone...lol Or perhaps i always charge my phone in air conditioned office or at night when i am home, so the room temprerure is around 20-25°C

  • try back-up your phone & do a factory reset, see it if helps.

  • After updating to pie it hardly gets 4g. But in oreo it always received 4g.anyone can suggest ....

  • I was looking for reasons too, but some of Mi A1 users says "its okay, its normal for the phone to heat up, just close any recent apps open". I also remove my case when charging even put mini fan just to blow away the heat. I hope it will be okay soon.

  • Happens due to ambient temperature. Summer has arrived. When you were on oreo, it was winter, wasn't it.

  • Google's Android 9 (Pie) does not support Phone Call Recording facility.

  • I always clear my recent apps used. I also removed my case when charging I guess it would be better if I turn off my phone when charging and see if it still heats up. Thank you!

  • I have same issue, but only while screen is on during charging. When i was on Oreo,i was using video call with messenger while charging and no heating and now there is a lot.I don't know what's the problem!?

  • Updated to Pie and only issue is louder notification sound even though i set to lowest. everything else smooth except some weird scrolling on chrome

  • Few days on Pie January Update: - SoT on WiFi slightly better, 4G drain I didn't test enough; - adaptive brightness needs to be patched, jumps from 20-30 to 60-70 in low light if you approach you monitor for example; - UI is kind of awkward in some places, it's subjective I suppose (features which are designed for smartphones with notch, applied for those without notch); - digital wellbeing, wish they kept the apps time used in battery tab like Oreo; - 10 new mini features

  • I didn't faced any heating issue during charging after Pie update, perhaps you should check any apps hogging that may have cause your phone to overheat. Try not to run any apps in background or use your phone while charging.

  • After android pie update, I'm having trouble with my phone it heats up when charging unlike with oreo it doesnt heat that much. Anyone having the same issue?

  • OTG Supported

  • Android Pie update: increased problems with 4G and bluetooth, but drastic battery usage improvement. Hope to see an update with network fixes soon.

  • Not worth to update to Pie as Nougat still the most stable among all, if one can live without FM Radio Widget then there is nothing worthy in Pie update in exchange for inaccurate GPS, problematic 4G & Bluetooth, not forgetting the annoying Google bar at the bottom & low default brightness.

  • hmmm, and are u still running windows xp ? There were some minor issues with one update, but so far android pie, 9 is ok. New functionalities etc

  • Luckly i dint update my mi a1..still on nouget and no issue at all

  • Supported

  • No it doesn't

  • otg supported or not

  • Thanks, that worked.

  • After a year of using it, it has started to crap itself. Most of the time camera won't open, 4G doesn't work in my country despite being in EU (I've bought the phone in another EU country so there shouldn't be any issues), can't take screenshots, unable to open any photos I have on the phone, Youtube randomly freezes and shuts down and so on. I've had a Galaxy 2 before this one and still would have it if I didn't need work related and banking apps. I've read so many great things about cheap mid-range Xiaomi and other Chinese phones so I went for it, babied it but after only a year I regret buying it. You get what you pay for I guess.

  • 4g seems to be fixed after this 70mb update

  • Peter, That is a feature, go to WiFi preferences to turn that off.

  • New A1 had non-working audio socket. Picture focusing takes time and even do not think to take pictures when no good light/sunshine around, use then better device. But Android 8 and fingerprint sensor is good in this price class.

  • Just flash a pie custom rom and your problem will be solved.

  • You wont regret it if you flash a custom rom. It fixes all the software problems and has no bugs. I use pixel experience and my experience with the phone has been superb from day 1 to present.

  • I just installed Android Pie last night and experience battery drain problem now.

  • Got my Android 9 (Pie) today. I can now play FM Radio and minimize it so that it will be playing in the background unlike in Oreo that you use code to access your FM Radio and when playing you will not be to do anything with your phone except you close the FM Radio

  • Ok solved it, in advanced settings it can be turned off.

  • Bought this phone about 7-8 months ago and I've been facing so many problems already. For example, within the first few months, the phone started lagging and by the 6th month, the front camera was not working. Every time i click the front camera, there will be a pop up saying that the camera can not be connected. I have taken very good care of this phone and honestly, I regret purchasing it. Just my opinion :)

  • Received update to pie today..should I wait or undate.seem some issue on pie

  • I'm on Android 9 pie, I switch my wifi off each time after use. When I pick up my phone again or the next morning I find my phones WiFi is switched on again by itself and seems to have happened many times. Is this normal?

  • Hello Fellow Mi A1 users, if yoi don't want any issues and if you want a better experience with your Mi A1, my suggestion is you flash a custom rom. I myself use a custom rom which is Pixel Experience android 8.1. it is a stable custom rom with no bugs. There are alot of custom roms like Lineage OS, Dot OS, CrDroid and RR. I'm sure you will find a rom of your liking.

  • I got the pie update 3 days ago The screen brightness became more efficient specially on sunlight The battery improved The sound and mic improved The system ui dissapeared (-ve) I cannot get red of google search box nor weather widget (-ve) Overall better than before

  • Reboot your phone, it could be some previous update cache still causing it to reject the update.

  • why did you update lol?

  • I have updated last night to Android 9 Pie Andreea sincer then i have huge problems with the 4G LTE signal.

  • Seem like the GPS getting improvement after the 71.5MB January patch, although is still take a long time to lock into position, but definitely better, as for Bluetooth i have yet to try out.

  • sar radiation too high! google specific absorption rate =sar

  • i recieved that 71MB update but cant install it , it fails

  • Downloading symbol did not light up when downloading button was touched. After about 1¼ minute message came Restart now. On restarting No change in Bluetooth. About GPS do not know.. Seems downloading has not taken place ....more confusion now .

  • A 71.5MB patch is available for those who have already update to Android Pie earlier, Hopefully it solve the GPS & Bluetooth issue.

  • Today I updated my A1 to 9.0. From Bulgaria. At the moment everything looks stable and runs smoothly.

  • At last I recieved update 1077.1MB

  • Thank you so much for letting us know this that the update was pull back by Xiaomi...was worried, previously was able to see pie update and then suddenly it disappeared.

  • After pie update observing absence the massege of CALL WAITING when make call to another beasy friend why Xiaomi???

  • If you guys want the Pie update so badly, it's very easy to root your device and flash a custom rom, look it up...although I myself am sticking with a custom Oreo rom because I don't like the UI changes in Pie.

  • Same here, still no pie update. Hopefully when we get it ... if we ever do, it won't be as buggy.

  • After Pie update, my Google Map Navigation totally useless, can't lock into position even at outdoor & city centre. Took out my sim card & insect into a Samsung phone, GPS position lock within 2 seconds. Obviously something wrong with the Pie update.

  • there are in the midst of solving the bugs, i am among the earlier adopter of Pie update, now i have 4G issue, GPS issue, Bluetooth issue, Do you want your phone with such issues ?

  • True. Android Pie is absolute treat for mi a1. Everything works flawlessly...

  • wht I think of these a1 phones....these are great I hve mi a1 nd it's really great I got pie like a week ago nd not a single issue... before pie there some issues nd they always get solved with monthly patches. I'm really used to it the way it's interfere it Can't think of anyother phone other than a2 of pixel or iphone....but rest are carp evem moto'a a1 phones are too nothing against this

  • cuz there are bugs in the update.

  • Until today still no pie update for MIA1 even with Manual checking. I'm currently on Novber security patch and running Android version 8.1, can seone tell me why it is not sending update for my device? Also it is Malaysian set.

  • I'm not found any problem since up to pie,bug only bluetooth notification doesn't appear, so far network and all so fine

  • Yes you are correct Bluetooth is erratic now

  • There are bugs in this Pie update. Xiaomi has again done it exactly after one year. A buggy Oreo update on 31-12-2017....and now this Pie update , which I got on 01-1-2019. The Bluetooth is malfunctioning. When one switches on the Bluetooth through pull-down Menu ...there is No notification (of Bluetooth being on) in the Notification Bar of the homepage. Even through Settings, there seems to be confusion in tracing the Bluetooth button. Even when one switches it on ,after going through thsome iterations , Still there is no Notification in Notification bar. Bluetooth exchanges media but not consistent. Non appearance of Notification leads to confusion.

  • This update to Pie is bad. I found another bug. My laptop it says to be 50 Mbps on 50 Mbps internet connection, butt when I tested it on Android 8.1 it was on Xiaomi Mi A1 50 Mbps too. Now I update to 9 Pie and my Wifi is slow on phone - it is under 20 Mbps all the time. Can anyone send a fix for that.

  • I lost 4G band connection, worst update ever

  • Done that it work for a while then it goes back to the same issues again, constantly loosing 4G signal, GPS take forever to lock into position, lots of apps crash.

  • I had some problems after update 23.12. GPS loses signal.4G signal was not constant.Lags from time to time. And know what.I did factory reset and everything is back in order.Smooth as ever. I know it s annoying to install everything from scratch. Maybe helps someone.

  • Just wait patiently, the current Pie update has 4G & GPS issues, Xiaomi & Goggle halt the update temporarily to rectify the issue, Unless you too eager to update your phone with bugs, i would advise you to wait.

  • I got really satisfied for android 9 update for this device thanks xiaomi i am 5years user of xiaomi phones

  • Hi, now that Android Pie Is Out is their any way I can force the upgrade or how can I do the upgrade?

  • Wrost update I ever seen in last three years. I lost my complete data. My phone almost died as sim slot not working. My battery is taking more time to get charge. Customer care is not able to provide support. They are making fool of customer. Really shocked to such update by Xiaomi.

  • Did you check the update manually ? sometimes the auto update check won't prompt you or show any notification until you manually check for update availability.

  • bro im from Msia too and own the Malaysia set official. Yeah i thought I'm the only malaysian who still hasn't got the Pie update. I guess we just have to wait

  • So after 8 days of consistent knocking by the notifications, for downloading the Android Pie update ... finally took the plunge on the Ist day of New Year and updated my device to Pie . So everything looks fine and smooth, except for some reduction in screen brightness, which I had to raise on the brightness bar .... and to me it seems there is a fractional reduction in the size of app icons on the home screen, I may be wrong in this observation.

  • 4G signal not consistent, once o lost 4G signal Waze will loss it signal as well, Strangely Samsung phone doesn't have this issue, Waze run smoothly even with 3G. (using same sim card so it shouldn't be Telco issue).. Screen brightness really annoying, hardly see anything when i use the phone outdoor, i end up turn off the auto brightness.

  • After update to Pie, very2 smooth

  • After update to P. Mi A1 has problem with Bluetooth connectivity

  • Reboot your phone, go setting in google play, choose update on any network, maybe you set it to WiFi update only.

  • Pie update has been temporally held up pending fix in 4G signal & some bugs, those who has yet the upset can only wait patiently.

  • Does anyone else have a persistent notification saying 'App updates are ready'... I tried to update the apps with mobile data but it won't work... Any solution?

  • I'm from Malaysia, got a Malaysia set and haven't get pie update, any idea when can I get it?

  • My workings just fine, in fact inam posting this using Hotspot.

  • after pie update hotspot not working.

  • .... the suspense is intriguing ????

  • There has been some report from user in my country says that there no longer getting Android Pie update notification, some says there don't get the notification at all. Another thing I noticed is that somehow Xiaomi@Goggle able to remotely change things in our phone after Pie update, all of the sudden the weather notification been appear in my home screen yesterday, infact it track my location in real time, today the weather notification disappeared, I believe it is done during the night as I still see it at 2300 yesterday & at 0800 today it disappear. Now we all having a spy phone & been monitored & remotely controlled...lol

  • Today it is 4th day and I am still getting Notification prompts to download this Android Pie updates ...and it is wrong to say that Xiaomi has withdrawn the update for rectifications. ... and am still weighing my options for the pros & cons of this update.

  • Thanks for the info... I was wondering why i didn't get the notification after Christmas days.

  • I noticed the same, video become very dark, let make some feedback to Xiaomi & let them rectify it in there next update

  • OK, thanks, after deeper inspection I found them. Pretty sneaky of Google. I have disabled them along with a lot of other apps disabled. Sure don't like sneaky spy companies monitoring me on a device I bought.

  • Yes, After PIE update, Mobile's Brightness reduced a lot. I also checked By Switching Off Adaptive Brightness & Adaptive Battery. Then also No Changes. The Brightness ratio reduced from 1 to 1/4. Earlier while watching Videos I was able to see every tiny information on Video Now After Update, Now Im not able to see that tiny information for the same video.

  • I've been through all xiaomi Android one updates and Google play updates, no sign of those apps in play store or in my system apps. Maybe I'm extra special for Google because I value my privacy and the minute Google start to spy on me I will delete my google/Android phone and they will not have me as a customer anymore.

  • yeah, you are right. Having search bar at bottom is kind of annoying specially because I hardly use this feature. I have always been used to having my phone, message and browser icon at bottom. They should at least add option to move it around. And also, there seems to be bug where the videos pauses when playing slow motion videos.

  • Better would be to give an update to make Google bar placement on homescreen variable , according to user's choice. Placing it on the bottom is really annoying.

  • For those who no longer getting Android Pie update notification or yet to get the update notification. Please take note that Xiaomi once again pull back the update due to numerous reports on 4G LTE issue as well as GPS bugs. This is the second time Xiaomi pull back the update

  • i been having MiA1 since Oct 2017, those file i mention is hidden in your system, go to Google Play tap my apps & games, you'll see update for those apps i mentioned, once updated it'll appear in your phone, the reason why you can't see it is because Google cleverly hide it during Pie update, this apps works in background monitoring you 24/7 & sent data back to Google.

  • Moving of Google Search bar location to the bottom seems to suggest that the Prime function of Android Pie devices is SEARCH and Not connectivity / messaging.

  • Try disable the adoptive brightness & see it help (setting - display - adaptive brightness & off it). As for the google bar i doubt you can remove it, i don't mind to have it on top, but having it at the bottom of the screen is really annoying. I hope Google can stop monitoring us like a criminals on probation, our location are tracks on 24 hours basis & every apps we use & the among of time we use are been monitored, i mean do there think we are North Korean Citizens ?.... lol

  • Since update I have only filesgo and the FM radio. Filesgo seemed to replace the file app o ly. Do not have any of the other apps you mention. Where did they come from, do you have mi a1 Android one phone?

  • Thanks! your mentioned point nos. 4, 5 and 6 are really of concern . will have to think more, before taking the dive into Pie update. Any more issues ?

  • Personally I don't recommend the update, as there is no improvement over Oreo 8.1, aparts from some cosmetic changes. The only extra things you get is FM Radio Widget (if you need it). Among the drawback you get. 1.) Lots of bloatware, eg. File Go,Google Lens, Digital Well-being, Action Service, this apps can't be delete, at most you can only disable it. 2.) Google bar are now at the bottom of the screen, which cause problem as you frequently tap the Google Bar accidentally when you tap call, contact, or whatever apps a the bottom of your screen. 3.) You location are constantly monitored, weather apps become permanent stuck on your screen. 4.) You can no longer once touch close all apps as the active apps are in horizon now. 5.) GPS signal once again become weak & inaccurate. 6.) Auto reboot issue comes back again, I already experienced 3 reboot in 2 days.

  • Anyone tryed Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 does it work?

  • does anyone else have problem with brightness settings after pie update? It seems I've to set brightness to higher level than before to get the brightness I want. Also, I hope they add the option to disable the bottom search bar. Other than that, very satisfied with Pie update. Battery life seems to be good now than before.

  • Any more good points or precautions about new update ...I am cautious, because I have received the Android Pie notification update, but because of not so good experience of 31-12-2017 update about Android 8.0 , when I lost my all SMS messages from my records, I am in a flux whether to update or not ... any suggestions...

  • Any more good points or precautions about new udate ...I am cautious, because I have received the Android Pie notification update, but because of not so good experience of 31-12-2018 update about Android 8.0 , when I lost my all SMS messages from my records, I am in a flux whether to update or not ... any suggestions...

  • You deserved it, Xiaomi has put you at end of the line, So just patiently wait for your probation period to end... lol

  • Until the next update is available. Xiaomi will prompt the user on the update, this is done in batches, so that user don't clogged up the server all at once. So when this fellow try to cheat the system by doing factory reset & clear cache, now Xiaomi push his update to later batch.. this is instant Karma...lol

  • I tryed,nothing!

  • Try restart your phone and then try update again.

  • Until the next one.

  • Try restart your phone and try again?

  • I can't get the Pie update anymore.

  • For how long an update as an OTA is kept for a particular device before it is taken off from it as an offered update by Xiaomi.

  • He try to cheat the system to get ealier updates by factory reset & clear cache (pretends ia a new phone), Apparently it doesn't work & now he may need to wait for longer period of time for updates..lol

  • Xiaomi give priority to new phone to be among the first batch to get updates, by doing a factory reset & clear cache one are able to cheat the system thinking you are having a new phone, this can only works if MiA1 still selling in the market as latest model, now that MiA1 already been replaced ny MiA2, the system know that he is trying to cheat. So his update notifications has been push to a further date... lol

  • some lte bands disabled

  • New life after pie update satisfied

  • Please be specific with the problem. What do you mean can't work anymore? Or you can't get the Pie update anymore?

  • Could be isolated Telco issue, So far my 4G is OK. It seem like the phone has some issue with VoLTE, here in my country only 1 telco has VOLTE & user of that particular Telco is complaining about 4G reception after Pie update.

  • More issue, Automatically add weather on to home screen despite I don't need it. Hang twice, end up need to reboot the phone, I merely uses 27% of internal memory & only basic apps been installed. Phone keeps recommend some useless apps.

  • My Mi A1 can't recive Pie update.I did a master reset and will not work anymore. Please help me!

  • I got the update yesterday in Serbia. My biggest issue is that I have no 4g now. Sound confuses me as well, since I used do not disturb to completely stop all sounds, but now it doesn't work that way. If 4g issue is not resolved I will be very dissapointed.

  • 4g is working

  • Good ! How Android Pie improves ease, functionality ? or is it at the cost of human physical reflexes.

  • Rightly said ... give security updates separately.

  • Yeah I see rapid charging after updating to Android pie

  • Yeah same in Ghana, 4g network is gone.

  • I get your point, have always wondered if there's a possibility to separate the security updates from the Android system updates? Some of us just want the monthly security updates and not the buggy and confusing Android miniscule updates.

  • I got the update yesterday in Serbia. My biggest issue is that I have no 4g now. Sound confuses me as well, since I used do not disturb to completely stop all sounds, but now it doesn't work that way. If 4g issue is not resolved I will be very dissapointed.

  • after updates pie, got fast charging right ? because when i charging, there show '' fast charging''

  • MiA1 Owners are Jumping, like children, with joy, with the gift of Android 9Pie from Santa-Xiaomi. I'm NOT going to upgrade! Not tempted by the promise of "10-birds-in-the-bush" as against My Trusted 8.1.0 in hand. I have spent Many hours fine-tuning my phone, and ALL will be WIPED OUT in a second, AND I have to relearn everything including the UI. WHO WILL PAY FOR THE LOSS AND THE COST OF RELEARNING? Never before, such a Drastic change had been imposed on the users! Microsoft UTTERLY FAILED when it replaced Windows 7 - AND now the Windows 10 is forced to have continuity with 7. WISDOM COMES VERY LATE AND AT A GREAT COST! Android will learn soon. And THIS Android and the next, is going to be SCRAPPED and replaced by FUC?HSIA. Relearn again!! To me, half-wit, immature, over smart, know-all Boys/Girls, who sit too long on their Brains, are deciding how WE should live/lead our lives in the future. Here is a Challenge to all children jumping with joy over Android9 Gift: 1. List 10 things YOU will be able to do with Android9 which You can't do with Android8.1.0! 2. You can't live with 8.1.0 (Old GF/BF), and must have new GF/BF 9.0. 3. You Love the Single Home Button (multi-multi-function)?? Happy to rid of back+recent buttons? Then try this! From tomorrow, DRIVE YOUR CAR with ONE HAND only, tie the other hand behind! Highly multi-functional one-hand driving! ONLY THE BIGGEST FOOLS WILL DESIGN THE FUTURE LIKE THIS.

  • Google & Xiaomi is smart by listening to us rather than him... hahaha

  • It's the thing that app selection is curated. But who decides that we need Duo and Files, when we already have Caller app and another Files. I mean it could be better if they let only bare minimum installed like it was on 8.1 Android without DUO and then let download anything else Google optionally from Settings or Store with option to delete afterwords. After a day of use, battery seems to be fine, but in my opinion automatical brightness is still as bad as it was on previous OS. Mostly too bright and can lead to battery loss fast. You better disable it and set it to 25 per cent manually. The originsl launcher improved, but I still use Nova Launcher, mainly because I paid for it previously. This new original launcher is usable. Previous was bad and laughable. FM Radio for me is useless as I never use it, but as an app, it is acceptable to have. At least more acceptable than having DUO disabled. Another thing with this update, it adds some services like Digital wellbeing as an app from store. Why? Should it be already in Android, now it just adds few useless apps to your Play Store app list. They could do it better... Another is Device Health Services. Other than that it is okay. But these two apps should be inside the core - just like data counter etc. You should never be forced to download these basic core apps from store. Just clutters the app list in the Store.

  • Xiaomi and Google must have read your comment and brought back the fingerprint swipe gesture. So much for the talk

  • You catched no ball on my sarcastic jokes to the fellow who claim getting Android Pie a month earlier. You need to brush up your comprehend skills & sense of humour.

  • I got new Pie update (82.1mb), brings back the fingerprint swipe, improved battery life. But hardware keys still lights up when using the swipe up Home gesture. Overall the phone has become more fluid

  • Dear Anonymous, Please read your own comment dated 19 Dec, where you claim to be using Android P without any problems since 2017 (though P was available only in 2018) What happened all of sudden? If Android P is a problem now, then what version of Android were you using since 2017?

  • Battery draining faster than Oreo 8.1 Screen become darker, need to set to higher brightness. No improvement for camera, still get bad low light photo. No VoLTE Only good thing is FM Radio Widget which we been asking for since launch.

  • I only have files go which seems to have replaced files, don't have the other 2 apps installed. How did you get them?

  • Change, it needs to be embraced. The new location at the bottom is good, my fingers are grateful now they do not have to stretch to reach to the top of the screen when using one hand

  • The google bar at the bottom is very annoying, moving clock to left side a bad idea since Mia1 doesn't have a notch, File & Google Duo is a waste of space & it can't be delete, I can only disable it, What ise purpose of Android One programme when I can't delete bloatware ? Good things is swipe print sensor to bring down the notification panel is back & finally FM radio widget.

  • In Android 9 Google search bar shoing down of home screen what the solution?

  • Android One is no more Android One. Why? They again preinstalled more of apps you can not get rid of. Only Uninstall. I alrwady had no need for Google Duo and disabled it. I get my calls from Caller app and messages from Messages app. I don't need Whatsapp, Hangouts, Duo, Allo, Signal or Facetime. I just communicate using my mobile provider or Gmail app. Every update seem to add. Now they installed Google Lens. Okay, it may be good, but it was unable to detect common earphones or mountain bike? So I scanned a bar code from product - it was able to show me the numbers on it. So, why, I can look the same numbers on my own. Next. Files Go. Installs two icons, and yes, there is already Files app that is barely enough for Google? So what's Android One? I think Google should redefine it. I mean the phone is good, but it's no more Android One phone with this amount of bloatware you can not get rid of. Why, Google. Why. Minimalistic phone turned into advertisement for Google every new apps like Files Go, Google Lens, Digital Wellbeing. Not what I bought.

  • Ihave problem in downloading android 9 after the downloading completed it cannot be fixed

  • working smooth and fast.....very good update ....nyc features.....thankss xiaomi

  • Battery is fixed works like a charm 2 days at full usage thats the bigest improvement! Only problem is that if i can call it a problem is showing wether on at glance sometimes work and sometimes don't and you can't do anything about it! 4g signal finaly got fixed. Happy with the update

  • yes, with new android pie 9 update you can.

  • Hi friends just got the Android pie update for MI A1.

  • Android Pie 9.0 Official Update Is 1069.1 MB.

  • Android pie update is now available to all 1069 MB starting from today. Check it now.

  • Android pie update received for my mi a1, just well done xiaomi.

  • No, only 1 slot 4G & 1 slot 3G, you can't have 4G ij both slot.

  • MiA1 been in the market since Oct 2017 in my country, maybe it reaches your country late.

  • mi a1 can dual sim slot support 4g lte ?

  • Android P was released in August 2018, how come you are using it since 2017????

  • Amazing how many phones are coming out with Android pie but Xiaomi is struggling with Android 9 on Android one bugs for mi a1. Probably started working with Android pie for Android one on this phone very late or it has low priority over the newer models of phones.

  • Android Pie update been pull back due to serious bugs issue reported by initial batch user. Just patiently wait for them to solve the issues & release the update, this might take a long time though, hopefully by end of the year or early next year.

  • Awesome phone im using it since it was launched

  • I have not yet received android pie

  • Bro I laughed so hard the coffee came through my nose

  • Lol! Well, my Xiaomi gets MAJOR update as a xmas present... it will grow a pair of arms and legs + head and it will transform into real Android robot!

  • hard luck no such feature in stock android pie do you work properly, stop playing with your phone all day. to unlock one can use thw finger print sensor, so lock one can install a screen lock widget. any incoming messaged will appear on notification panel. there is no need for double tap to wake up the phone or to lock it, only those lazy bump who play with the phone all day during works & school need such features.

  • iwish in pie updates theres a double top to lock and unlock the mi a1

  • Best Reply Ever

  • Thanks for Update

  • i have Android Pie running in my MiA1 since 2017, so far perfect with zero bugs, next week I'll get Android Q, MiA1 is the best, it get update even before Google launch it.

  • I have been running 9.0 Pie on my Mi A1 for a month. works great!

  • Because MiA1 works better ij Nougat compare to Oreo, blame Xiaomi for twitching the Stock Android to fit in their own propriety apps eg. camera, mi remote, feedback, you don't see the same issue with other Android One phone.

  • What's the point of buying Androidone phone if u r not gonna update it?

  • I have been using the Mi A1 for about 8 months now after my redmi 5 caught some water damage. Overall, it has been smooth sailing with the phone with almost no lag for normal use. The battery can still last for the entire day of normal/medium usage, and longer if its connected to the internet on wifi network. The camera is a little disappointment under low light lighting and average for well lit conditions. But for its price, you're really paying for the processing and smoothness of the phone to run apps even after many months and years. I highly recommend it and with the lower prices now, it really is a hard to beat deal for the budget, best bang for buck option.

  • K use this phone for one year now. I never updated, still on Nougat. It works flawless with all applications, games and everyday tasks. Im looking forward to buy next Xiaomi phone with Android One when this phone dies.

  • Nah men They are focusing on the Mi A2 now. Ive said this time and time again the only hope for Mi A1 users to have a good exp with their phone is to flash a custom rom. Oreo custom roms are better than pie because Android pie eats alot of ram so we are just better off with oreo custom roms. Custom roms are free of bugs, I'm using a custom rom myself.

  • No....not again ....not like an Oreo update when the update deleted all mine and many others SMS messages. Xiaomi you may take double the time to give Android Pie update OTA but please give it completely bugs free. Time is no concern but a good accurate update shall be appreciated .

  • Xiaomi has just answer thru user query, Android Pie update been pull back due to serious bugs issue, no time frame for fixing the issue, so it will be a long delay for other country to get Android Pie.

  • Just flash a custom rom men ! I guarantee you, your experience with the Mi A1 will be better and you will not experience any bugs with the official final builds of oreo 8.1 custom roms. Lineage OS, Pixel Exp, Dot OS and ressurrction remix are the best roms for Mi A1. Xiaomi devs kinda don't care about the bugs now. For example the multitouch bug is fixed pronto with other oreo updated devices but for some reason xiaomi didn't merge the fix patch even though a lot of users messaged them about it.

  • Thank you

  • not bugs really...

  • Not worthy to update to Oreo 8.1 as there is little improvement at the price of unstable network, slower GPS, less SOT, stay at Nougat until Android Pie become stable, just skip Oreo.

  • Im planning to update my phone in oreo version , If theres any bugs/problems on this version? Or it is stable now? Advance Thank you in your answer

  • Now that's a toxic response if I've ever seen one.

  • Hello fellow MiA1 users, i just successfully flashed pixel experience oreo 8.1 on my MiA1. It's way way better than the stock rom and has a lot of features with no bugs. No multitouch flickering and has a lot of cool features like double tap to wake, the swipe down on fingerprint sensor works. If you want a better exp from your MiA1 just flash the pixel experience rom. Theres a lot of tutorials on YT for that.

  • Well, we are now nearing the end of 2018 and no Android 9, rather disappointing for Android one.

  • Pl. give brief details of bugs.

  • dont update your phone it has got too many bugs

  • No it is not fixed but it has got worst . Network fault still present so think before updating

  • If you dont like what Google is doing then Android is not for you. You dont update to Pie.

  • Swiping down anywhere in the homescreen is different from fingerprint swiping anywhere to toggle the notification panel. That's a stupid reason to remove a feature that works anywhere. Besides this swiping down the home screen only works when swiping from the top and not anywhere as you claim.

  • Now you can swipe down anywhere on home screen to access the notification panel that's why gesture is removed.

  • swipe down on the fingerprint feature missing :(

  • You must prove your claim that there never own or use the phone or else is a baseless accusation. Stop thinking you are the few VIP that own this rare phone in the entire planet. This is a dirt cheap phone own by millions, not a Vertu.

  • Update is still in beta. Xiaomi will be working on known bugs. Update will be rolled out to everyone before 2019.

  • I am sick of network flutuation on MI A1 , is network issues fixed on pie update ??

  • There is a strategy regarding the deployment of the updates. The countries that are first are those where the market portion is very little and the impact on overall emerging markets in other countries is small. If there is no sign of trouble after the deployment of the update in those areas then they make the update available in the areas where their products are flying of the shelfs. I will wait until the update is available in my area. Until i will receive the update i will already know if it is a good update or a bad one thru the forums and other information channels. So yes better to wait than to be in a hurry.

  • I don't know why we are not getting update till now? I don't want to re-set my mobile, so need to wait for a long....... Till now not received any comments / issues on Android 9 from any one. Hope all the issues are solved including network issue.

  • People who really want to update will eventually find a way to update. I know some people who doesn't even own this phone and post unnecessary stupid comments.

  • It works. Factory reset and choose Netherlands. Use VPN to check for update

  • How to get it to show weather near at the glace? It doesn't show weather and if it can't be added how to remove at the glace? Just folow every step on this it works

  • Mi a1 gets dual 4g with android pie update.

  • It doesn work! Dont evan tray this

  • For now the quickest and dirty way is to factory reset, remove the simcard and set the location to Netherlands using a vpn app. Do not turn the location on. The update comes automatically. I will suggest you just wait, the hype is overrated.

  • Update on using Pie update: 1. The battery took a hit, like really a big hit. I have read in forums this has to do with the new features in Pie...but it was had to notice the battery draining fast. 2. The audio took also a big hit...but in a positive way. Audio lovers are gonna like this update. 3. The fingerprint swipe down feature is gone and missing from the settings. If you have gotten used to that be ready for the suprise. 4. The swipe up home gestures for Android Pie are good but the hardware buttons still light up despite them being disabled when the Swipe up on Home button is enabled. It is really irritating, wish we could turn off the lighting. In addition Swipe up Home button feature takes some significant screen space at the bottom. Better just use the hardware keys. 5. There's significant lag especially when pressing the home button. There's a delay. 6. The radio works as expected 7. More to follow....

  • Wait till is available for your unit. This take up to a month or more.

  • how to updatet android pie

  • The swipe down feature using the finger print is not available with the pie update for Mi A!

  • Yes it has those features

  • Hi, does this have Screen Mirroring or any Video Cast feature? Thanks!

  • IF update only for netherland why they their phones to global.stay on netherland i will never buy xiomi again.very bad update system.they not care about best customers.they win asia but update to europe.

  • Just a beta ? snooze..Zzzzz.

  • Yes the open beta is now available for everyone.

  • Then you shouldn't review anything at all.

  • I was one of the closed beta user. Rom includes fm radio. Can't reveal any more.

  • Finily mi 1 got Android pie beta update

  • Not yet!

  • Android P beta has arrived.

  • I already use Andromeda and substratum. I I could not see any issu.

  • I am also of the view that firmware update can not destroy the sd card . Must be some problem with sd card itself. Mine 128 Gb Sandisk Ultra is working fine.

  • I doubt firmware update can damage micro SD card as the firmware just store in the phone memory, most probably your micro SD card has defects or it may be a counterfeit products. So far my 32GB Kingston micro SD card has no issue, in matter of fact all my previous micro SD card never spoilt, i still has those 2GB micro SD card which i use for those Nokia features phone.

  • My SD card destroyed it self when I installed newest November update, it's unusable!

  • Any hdmi cable from ebay or something else (so that to be cheap) compatible ?

  • i tried 3 different cables & non of it works.

  • my otg cable works with this phone.

  • We want full screen display please

  • Yes you can. You need to enable the developer mode from there u can disable the auto updates

  • Actually it does. Mine works as expected.

  • No, this phone doesnt support OTG, i have tried various method.

  • Yes

  • Samsung Bokeh effect is much better than MiA1. There call it life focus. Due to the bad quality low light photo, MiA1 give very bad Bokeh effect indoor. If you able to stretch your budget, get a A7 2018 with triple lense which can even put Mi8 to shame.

  • No, the OTG doesn't work.

  • Thank you..haha I’m only want that perfect bokeh effect

  • Yes

  • Does it support OTG at the moment?

  • With latest update (1 november) you did something to drain battery extremely fast! Please remove that what you did!

  • any other that you mentioned is better for camera than this one. but this one is better than all other in everything else

  • Updated to recent November update, idk if its the update fault or what but my phone screen delays for ~4sec when press sleep button or finger print. Any help?

  • Go for Samsung if camera is important to you. MiA1 camera give very grainy photo in low light.

  • Is this phone good..I want to buy perfect dual camera phone..Xiaomi mi A1 or Huawei p9 or samsung a6+???

  • Xiaomi insist to use their own camera apps & a few other apps like Mi Remote & Feedback, which could be the reason why there need to do extra steps to update their Android One phone, there should have remove these apps & replace it with Stock Android Camera apps which is far more superior than Xiaomi camera apps, keep Xiaomi camera apps solely for MiUi phone.

  • Sad to see the new device already get Android Pie while still no sign of this device that is one year old getting an update. I don't know why Xiaomi so late at providing update. That is why I bought Android One phone over MIUI. Now even, android one phones are getting late update when Nokia has already provided updates for their phones. I think Xiaomi should really consider releasing few phones and get them up to date rather than making phones with different models and almost similar specs. I mean like how many model of Note 4 or 5 already exists? They have like single number, single number with pro and plus, single number with AI, single number with X, against there is S series, single number with A. I think it is because of so many models that they are so late with these updates.

  • i believe MiA1 will eventually gets the update but it will be slower than MiA2 & probably MiA2 lite as well, i used to own a Mi3 as well, the update get slower after Mi4, Mi5 launch, sometimes is few months after there update the newer model. But hopefully our patiently waiting is fruitful with a bugs free update, previous rush update for Oreo 8.0 was a disaster & it took few months to rectify most of the bugs.

  • Xiaomi's policy is like that when they release upgraded one they forget the initial one.

  • ...but why they have initially said about two years of software updates ?

  • Did i not said Xiaomi will abandon MiA1 for MiA2 ? Now MiA2 gets it Android Pie update & MiA1 hasn't eveb gets it Beta test.

  • i got info about software update and had to restart my phone. then when it rebooted my screen was going on and off (flicking) then it rebooted and i got message that my data may be corrupt and i had to format my mi a1. somebody else had this? virus? please advise.

  • Finally the problem of can't connect to PC been solve in November update, after i connect to my PC i need to pull down the notification panel to choose charging or moving files ot photos, still this is troublesome compare to Samsung which can connect instantly.

  • Disappointed with 1st buy! Bough this phone one month ago from Sri Lankan mobile store Dialcom (www.dialcom.lk) and got security update 2 weeks back and thats it!! phone is not turning on after the update and no response even a vibrate or led indicator on power button press. I've gave this to Dialcom service center and after two weeks of check they said there is an issue in motherboard and cannot claim warranty as it has a small dent mark on the body! and also they said that even if I can claim the warranty they will only change the motherboard & give. These buggers have made me go nuts! seems like they are not even a authorized dealers for the phones they sell!! Xioami phones they sell not even from the China!! This was my 5th phone I bought from them.. Will not step into that store and for the Xiaomi barnd again!! Advice to Sri Lankan viewers, DO NOT PURCHASE MOBILES from DIALCOM Sri Lanka! Horrible service center, cunning & unskilled technicians! I'm helpless and they gave me no warranty even they can see that, it is purely a product issue! They will show all their teeth out when buying and show their back when coming to issues and warranty claims!

  • Both has the same specsheet with SND625, except that Mi A1 is android one (Stock ROM) and Meizu is a customized one. If you need battery then go for Meizu. Rest of the differences can be compromised.

  • Go for Realme 2 Pro

  • I reply to myself: On a spanish forum somebody wrote about it. I had enabled night mode. To disable it was the solution

  • Mi A1 or Meizu M6 Note?

  • An interesting one...I have changed my network to 3g and I am getting 17.5MB and upload of 5.32MB - please help, this is ridiculous!

  • I have had my A1 for around 4/5 months and it was working fine. I believe after I updated to Oreo 8.1 the 4g speeds have dropped ridiculously slow. I am on the o2 network which bands are supported on the phone and I am connected to 4g. If I use the standard APN I am lucky to get 1MB but if I use the idata.o2 which is supposed to be for iPhones I am getting around 5MB. I restored the phone to factory settings but it doesn't seem to have made a difference - it still running Oreo 8.1. Anybody got any solutions or similar issues? Thanks,

  • Not Android Pie, someone mentioned here MiA1 will get Android Pie in November, now i doubt it, unless there is another update in next 2 weeks.

  • Mean MiA1 not getting Android Pie in November, Another empty promise by Xiaomi.

  • Only 66.1 MB Nov Update is seeding

  • 66.1 MB November update now seeding.

  • Hi, I have a Xiaomi MiA1 and a Chromecast. When I send video to CC from Netflix it works fine, also from youtube, but when I send photos from Google Photos or from mirroring, them appear with a color distortion, a red dominance. I tryed with a Iphone and there was no distortion. My Chromecast is second generation and my Android is 8.1.10. Can anybody help me? Thanks a lot

  • Just upgrade to Oreo and it'll fix the issue I think. Happened to me but after the upgrade, the GPS works fine so far.

  • Auto reboot issue comes back again after October Security Patch.

  • Battery life worsening now I can only get 4.5-5hr SOT Max, first half 100-50% show 3hr SOT but s second half 50-0% only 1.5-2hr SOT very inconsistent, most of the day I need to charge my phone during mid day, or else I worry the battery might drained before I reach home, I need Waze GPS navigation everyday.

  • Earlier i was getting 5hrs of SOT, right now my battery is at 65% and the SOT is 3:15hrs. So its working great.

  • As my device is now 1 year old battery life was slightly decreasing, our phones battery keeps record of the pattern how and when we charge our device everyday. So in order to reset that data and improve battery life I came across an app called Advanced battery calibrator. I did the calibration yesterday and its working like a wonder.

  • Amazing phone for the price. + Dual camera + Loads of custom ROMs + Headphone jack and no notch - No rounded corners - No NFC - No quick charge (works on AOSP Extended 5.8 so it's good) Verdict: Absolutely amazing for $180.

  • Back up your phone & do a factory reset.

  • Since i bought this phone it was ok. But last few days i am facing problems with gps.it can not determine my location. Gps based apps can not run also. I have downloaded a software named gps status and fix.but the result is same.moreover i am using Android nougat. Can not upgrade to oreo. Once download can not install oreo.any one can suggest me??

  • Just save up for Mi A2, not Lite or A1. There's really no better Android One phone atm at Mi A2's price range.

  • If you want better depth effect then probably a2 lite if you want 2x zoom without losing resolution then A1...The performance are the same I think because of 4/64 and there is the same software because of android one...I'm now using A2 lite and for me performance are very good...And camera depth effect is very good!

  • Buy MiA2 lite & courier your phone to me.. lol.. Jokes aside, try reboot your phone, if this doesn't work, back up your phone & do a factory reset. It is advisable to do a factory reset whenever you have a major update, as this will wiped off residual cache.

  • Mi a2

  • Mi A1 or Mi A2 Lite ? Im into best experience and of cause the camera

  • After updating my Mi A1 to Oreo 8.1.0 last week , my network has gone ever since. please I need your help to restore my network . My sim cards n other sim cards don't detect the network after the update. What can I do to save the situation.

  • Is it possible to disbale monthly security update from auto install and update? If yes, how?

  • So far that's the only update, unless there is issue with certain monthly security patch, there is only 1 update a month. September has 2 update due to serious issue of some unit SMS get wiped off in the first update. Unless we see a Beta tester invitation for Android Pie soon, or else the is very slim chance we will be getting Android Pie by end of November.

  • Monthly security update. Not Android P.

  • you mean the 5th October monthly security update? or something newer?

  • Received update of 280 mb something. No issues as of now.

  • No Beta test mean it will take a long time for the updates to be release OTA. Usually a invitation for Beta tester for few weeks then follow by Beta Test & feedback another few weeks, all this will take 1.5 months minimum. Unlikely Android Pie to be release in 4 weeks time.

  • Android Pie is scheduled for November release for Mi A1.

  • Mi A1 has been spoted running Android Pie few days ago on geekbench. So updated is expected sooner, even before Mi A2 gets it. So thats a great news...

  • Look like the October update didn't fix the fail to connect to PC issue. Camera still light year behind Samsung J series.

  • I have it (global version, bought in Europe), since May (2018), so far so good, i did update on Oreo, works great, no issues, great battery life on average use (4G, gaming, FB, Instagram, you tube, music), Bluetooth works great, IR blaster as well, GPS is perfect (on 100% battery GPS constantly turned on for more than 5 hours it drained it till 40% which i find great), awesome daylight pics, average at low light, battery charging from 0 to 100 in about 1.5h, very fast, smooth, fast responding, for that price it's amaizing

  • Since there is no news on Beta Test for Android Pie as at now, Most probably it'll take another few months, Maybe by early 2019. Hope Xiaomi done repeat a rush job like how there update Oreo 8.0 last year, the update end up with lots of bugs & took 4 months to rectify.

  • xiaomi a1 and a2 when upgrade to android 9.0 ?

  • It does have FM radio as hardware, but doesn't have a software fotó it.

  • There's a 238.6mb new update. Downloading in background.

  • More toward an update to rectify earlier update bugs, i guess Xiaomi get too many complain, expect few Looney tunes character here to claim the previous update is god sent & perfect like utopia.... lol

  • The october update has been rolled out. I have updated the device and the system seems stable at the moment. In the release buletin are pointed some android security problems that were patched. The device works fine at the moment.

  • I am very happy with my Samsung phone, yes i carry 2 phone all the time, My Samsung had been superb, taking brilliant photo, fast & accurate GPS, So fat zero defect, is merely a J series. Probably you are comparing MiA1 with some other lousy Indian or low end China phone.

  • Do you aware that area code merely base on same country & same telco, So you actually think there is on 1 person from one country or the telco has only one user ? I don't own any Motorola phone, why would i bother the comment about Motorola phone ? in fact Motorola phone is not popular in my country, you can hardly see any shop selling it & almost impossible to see people using it. Why can't i complain about my phone which i bought using my own money? Why do you need to feel upset when i complain about my phone? Do you work for Xiaomi or are you selling Xiaomi phone. Is my personal freedom isn't it.

  • a total disaster from a phone full of bugs lags

  • To save headaches, one should have a head first... this guy is suffering from anxiety, depression and whole lot of problems in personal life, thats why they see -ve in everything around them.

  • Dear anonymous, I remember you with your location code mentioned below your comments. Based on your posting I now remember you very well. You are one who keeps posting problems and defects on many phones forum, rather than appreciating the positive aspects of a phone. I remember you on Motorola phones posts specially. You always have problems with whichever phone you use.be it Motorola or Xiaomi. If Mi A1 is not good why don't you throw off and buy a better one which is perfect by all means? It will save your headache.

  • GPS is pathetically slow & inaccurate, Nokia already has Android Pie update & this Android One program MIA1 will take another 3 months, even some non Android One phone already expect to get Android Pie in next couple of months. Total loser phone.

  • Ya GPS works great too. Android Pie is expected early next year. Great phone from Xiaomi.

  • I have this phone since Jan 2018. Works very well. No problems. No stucks or crashes. I can do with it heavy tasks like managing my website and my google ada account. Work well with multitasking Camera above average at good light and average at night. Stock android. Waiting for update to Android P . Hope it will come soon.

  • Still no sign of Android Pie despite Nokia already has it, Xiaomi Android One update very slow.

  • More issue after the update, Adaptive Brightness very slow, it took 5 seconds for the screen to adapt to outdoor brightness. Each time going out from my house to my car, i need to wait for 5 seconds after unlock the phone to read what's on the screen, this is very annoying. Each update bring more issue.

  • Using the Mi A1. Running on Android 8.1.0 No issues Solid OS Excellent battery life. 2019, still competitive

  • True.

  • Xiaomi has pull out the first Oreo 8.0 update due to numerous complain from user, so much so there delay the re work update for nearly a month. You clearly did not own the phone for 1 year. That why you can't remember the chronicle of the update... lol

  • You stop bull*******. I seriously had no issues with working after the updates, any of them.

  • Stop the bull, everyone who update to Oreo 8.0 during 31st December has issue, in fact it took Xiaomi few months to have it rectify. i can instantly traced a baloney when one mention there use it for a year & has no issue... lol.. Such a court jester.

  • It's a year I am using this phone. Absolutely no problem at all. I scan most of my docs using the cam on this phone and all turn out to be absolutely great. GPS have always worked fine. Never had any problems after monthly updates.

  • Difference only 4 Months. If you do not like it. Please use high end device.

  • i own MIA1 since Oct 2017, you merely own it for 8 months & trying to challenge me ? ... lol I have already replace the screen at the service centre 2 weeks after i bought it due to burn screen aka dead pixel, also twice for reset as i can't boot up, the service centre has to reinstall the firmware & i loss all my data (luckily i can copy the contact from my other phone).

  • This phone can not show any fault during last 8 months. I feel you r the enemy of MiA1🙂

  • He ask for durability not function, Anyway this phone has disaster camera & lots of apps crash, not forgetting weak signal & inaccurate GPS.

  • My answer to you is NO, this is not a durable phone, the screen easily crack even with table height drop, the power & volume rocker worn out really fast, 2 of my friends already replace their power button & volume rocker, 1 replaced under warranty another one need to pay from his own pocket as he replace it 10 days after the warranty ends. if you are looking for a durable phone for 3 years don't choose Xiaomi, Go for Samsung or Nokia.

  • The phone is excelent, i have the Mi A1, fluid software, fast, great camera and good battery.

  • first than all, hi everyone, i would just like to know, is this phone durable, i mean i know its not going to last forever but id like to know if i can count on it for a couple of years, i dont switch phones that often

  • You mean the technician at the Xiaomi official service centre do not know how to use Xiaomi phone? as he too can't solve the issue.

  • Internet in my country is extremely slow due to monopolized market, Cloud is as good as useless, it'll take forever to upload or download from Cloud.

  • Learn how to use cloud

  • Yeah because u don't know to use a phone

  • Here in my country many complain on the unable to connect to PC issue on Handphone forum, so far no solution, let see October Security Patch able to solve it, i already sent feedback thru Feedback Apps, now i have to use another phone to take photo & save it in my PC, as often my job require taking some product photo & email it to distance branch & outlet, if i took out the micro SD card too frequently i afraid the card slot holder will wear out or worse still get damaged if i remove it frequently , MiA1 micro SD card holder is kind of flimsy.

  • I can not face that problem

  • Whenever the signal change from 4G to 3G, GPS signal loss, can't use Waze navigation & can't play Pokemon Go. GPS position not accurate & GPS locking position very slow.

  • How to use a phone when there is no response when plug in to 2 different PC & 2 different Notebook ? Even the technician at the official warranty service centre can't solve the issue. You must be Xiaomi Global Chief Engineer & Designer report direct to the CEO Lei Jun..lol

  • because u dont know how to use a phone

  • Additional $20 getting a China 2017 stock with sideload Global ROM is not worthy. I dont hate Aliexpress as i don't need to order Xiaomi phone from them since i can get official warranty unit in my country. A2 lite is a better buy with 18:9 ratio screen higher ppi 432 vs 403, better camera F2.2 vs F2.6, Battery 4000mha vs 3080mha, Endurance rating 100hr vs 87hr, except for USB 2.0 vs USB type C. Problem is you are buying a 2017 model car at 2018 & paying 2017 price... paying 2018 MK7 price & end up with a 2017 MK6 VW Golf... lol

  • Well said.

  • I paid few bucks too much, that was my fault.. Obsolete? You don't like AliExpress?Ok.. What is the reason to buy A2lite.?Not worth it.A2 probably, but for a few $ more you can have Mi8 lite and so on... The only drawback is 1yr China warranty, instead 2yr EU warranty..Well,if you just bought a new car, last year model and think it's obsolete because the new one looks absolutely the same, but it has 2hp more and you must be trendy..just go for it!You must be a good, loyal consumer...

  • That way overpriced for a MiA1 which is already a obsolete phone since MiA2 & MiA2 lite already in the market for some time, Now MiA1 is selling for $170 with official warranty. If you get a unit which come with Nougat mean is a very old stock, probably a 2017 phone, as the phone been update to Oreo since end of 2017. You been short change by Aliexpress, i won't even surprise you are getting a old China unit been load with Global ROM.

  • Xiaomi + stock Android is disaster as Xiaomi add in own apps like Camera, feedback & remote control, that's why many issue in each update. So far the best is Nokia + stock Android combo, fast update & very little issue.

  • Yes, true. Xiaomi+stock android. I'd always been waited for, And MiA1 deliveres flawlessly...

  • Bought mine A1 from Aliexpress two weeks ago.So far,all I can say it is a superb phone for under $200 i paid for.Display is actually very good, chipset is great for the class, battery life excellent, even cameras are actually capable of making very good pics.Soon as I turned on my new device,it updated itself from android 7.1.2 to 8.1.0 along with 17 Google apps...and it did it in about five minutes, that`s great, and I don`t even have a superfast Wi-Fi at home.Everything works perfectly fine.Excellent phone by itself but then you see the price! Well done Xiaomi,a great, quality product for a great price...as usual from Xiaomi...

  • Can't connect to computer, tried factory reset & srill can't connect to computer, now i have to remove the micro SD card & use card reader to move those photo & video to my computer to have it edit, this is so troublesome. Sometime i need to email those photo & video, usable to directly connect the phone to PC is a problem to me.

  • I updated september patch without any problem. There are no visible bugs. I could connect my phone to laptop without any hitch.

  • Mi A1 with extreme kernel is a beast......

  • Have updated the system with latest available update on 01 Oct 2018. No problems and it's working all fine.

  • Hi, anyone with problem too install the September update? In my case the terminal make the download but in the moment of the installation appears "problem with the installation". In the pass 1 of 2. If anyone knows something, I appreciate, thanks!!

  • Just wait for Xiaomi to fix the PC connection issue, you can skip September security patch since it bring no significant improvements nor changes.

  • September 5th security patch.

  • There is bugs in the pho es camera, when the picture is taken it looks dark, sometimes light but mostly awful.

  • Im not facing any bugs after latest update.

  • I want to install the update, but I'm afraid that it may break something. Why is there so little info about this update? I have got the update notification for the first time today 1 October in Serbia.

  • Could you be more specific regarding the version of the 'problematic' software update. Thanks

  • "There is a bugs"...ha ha ha...lol...this is the best one so far.

  • Yes, but don't update, there is a bugs, you can't connect your phone to PC, I regret updating it.

  • Anyone received the software update?

  • should be interior

  • Samsung is not interior company. Bizzare English.

  • If you compare it with Micromax surely MiA1 is good, if compare with Samsung then is interior. Usually people just take photo in auto mode, nobody going to ask Birthday boy/girl wait for 10 minutes for them to adjust there low quality phone camera...lol

  • If that's the case, then there has to be one of the following problems - either it's a faulty piece that you got. - or you seriously don't know how to take pictures. I use Mi A1 for taking pics and scanning documents. Never had a single problem. Out put is crispy clear.

  • Yes, my J7 plus take much better photo than MiA1.

  • MiA1 camera doesn't even qualified as casual cameras, i have try taking birthdays photo in restaurant which i believe is very common usage for phone camera. The result are total disaster, i can't even get a clear photos of the cake & people in the partly, my friends Samsung Note 5 rake superb photo in the party, while don't even dare to show the photo i taken with MiA1.

  • True. Many idiots dont understand this. Phones primary function is to make communications. Other features are added bonus.

  • Phones are communication devices and not photography gadgets. Camera provided is a secondary function. Selfie camera is more for video calling. For serious photography results, better have a nice camera. If phones were to be successful camera as well, then Samsung would have sold its zoom series of camera phones in millions ( sadly that never happened). These phones looked very much like a pro camera with phone functions in it. But they realised the mistake and never had anymore such hybrids.

  • Try connect your phone to PC using USB type C cable, So far i tried my office PC & my personal notebook, both not working, i even do a factory reset, same result, no response & can't read phone contains.

  • I used my mi a1 to take some photos for a work project abroad, when I got back to the city all the photos are terrible and can't be used for anything, it was a huge expensive waste of time. The photos looked ok on the phone but when viewed on a PC are a disaster. All mi phones cameras are terrible, I have tried all in the stores and can confirm this, even cheap Samsung's are better.

  • For photos, better to invest in a decent camera, phones are for phone calls.

  • I have no obvious issues with my MiA1 after the September 2018 update

  • You must be having a God Edition MiA1, when everyone has issues with the phone but your unit. Same like the previous notification light doesn't blink issue, only your unit is spared, while our mortal human edition will have all the bugs.

  • I have updated. There's no such usb bug.

  • My terrible bugs experience with MiA1.

  • Me too, so is a common bugs then.

  • Yes i am having same problem, totally no response when I try to connect my phone to my PC. Another update another bugs, Amazing... sigh...

  • Notification received for a OTA 393.9 MB update

  • i no longer use MiA1 for any serious photography, just waiting to replace it with either Nokia 6 1 plus or Samsung A7 2018 by end of the year.

  • After September security patch, unable to make USB connection to PC. Anyone facing the same problems?

  • yes you are right.... only security update.....no ois or Eis....nothing changed .....camera is worst in low light poetrait ....hope xiaomi will fix it soon ...

  • Another boring security patch, no sight of Android Pie.

  • September security patch roll out today with size of 393 mb...check for updates

  • So far nothing that I noticed, but I'm on Nova Launcher. Except battery went from 100% to 92% pretty fast and 4% of usage doesn't show what used it up, guess was the update.

  • What's new?

  • September monthly patch is out - you have to do a manual check in system settings if didn't come up automatically.

  • Owned it 5mon so far, decent phone, nothing fancy but good overall. Glitchy phone app, doesnt always detect face proximity sensor. No FM radio app built in. Camera bump requires a case. Comes with screen protector which looks good. GSMarena seems out of date on some phones, the android version is higher on some phones than what they say here. Can't recommend to friends because its not easy to order for cheap equivalent price in Canada.

  • Wish it had NFC. Camera: 7/10 (I don't like the motion blur.) Performance: 8/10 (I have pretty low standards since I was living off a Moto E first generation.) Size: 10/10 (The perfect size for my hands!) Battery: 9/10 (3080mAh battery great for whatever I need) Rootability: 10/10 (This is an AB slot device, and there is no recovery partition. So you will have to fastboot to TWRP instead.) Themeability: 6/10 (Some things are hard to change.) Recommended Launcher: Nova Launcher Prime (Dark theme looks aesthetic.) Overall: 9/10 (This has put my older phone to shame.)

  • Bizzare English.

  • Xiaomi did promised Android P (which now called Android Pie), during MiA1 launch, But I doubt it will be available in Sept. As for September patch it should be in next few days as usually security patch update by end of the month, then again I did experienced a late update which push forward till next calendar month. Just be patience.

  • Nearly end of the month and no security update, doubt if pie will be made for this phone as Xiaomi have more newer models to cater for.

  • Android Pie should be coming to Mi A1 from what i have read, yes :) I mean, it has Android One so i don't think we have to wait for very long either to get it.

  • This also happened to me. Sensor does not work properly.

  • Was Android Pie confirmed at all for Mi A1. Also is patch for this month out yet?

  • Boss, if your smartphone is clicking some random screenshots by itself, then there is chance that your are in a trap of someone. Just go to SETTINGS -> DEVICE ADMIN. APPS. -> and check the list of apps , if there is some unusual app then just format your phone or simply uninstall that app.

  • Home screen wallpaper goes off and a random screenshot appears over the home screen, sometimes after ending a received call. Wallpaper would be restored only after restarting the phone. Anybody else faced this irritating issue?

  • yep

  • Use without sim card. Thats the best possible solution. Keep in mind, even the highest permissible SAR value authorised by FCC which is 1.6 w/kg is safe. If it goes beyond that, OEM's are not allowed to sell their phones in any Market. so don't worry nothings gonna happen to you.

  • Is it miracast capable?

  • Anybody have solution for over radiation...?

  • Dear I have not tinkered with the device and neither anyone, only plausible reason seems that Service center people saw the expiry date of the Warranty which was due on 23th September, just 4 days to, when I approached them . that is why I am saying Beware of Xiaomi Service Centers ...they not the one, just a Myth. Xiaomi should look into this and make there service centres behave ..at least with senior citizens.

  • Using since 7 month but not facing any issue just battery drain fast but now is also stable... Waiting for Android P...is any body received?.....or when will we....any idea?

  • That is unfortunate, it must be one of the irresponsible third party authorised service centre which will blame you and not wanting to warrant your phone. From what I know, replacing any of the buttons in MiA1 will require to change the whole back housing. Which I believe they don't have any sufficient stock and that's why they will push the responsibility away or find any cosmetic problem to void your warranty. Anyway try to find another staff at another time see how they respond.

  • You have tampered the phone by some unauthorized technicians or by yourself, therefore the warranty considered void.

  • Beware of Xiaomi Service Centre. I went there to get the Volume up button rectified as excessive pressure has to be applied on the volume up button to raise volume. But to my dismay , service center refused to do the same under my valid warranty. They refused by citing a small 1 (one) millimeter scratch on the top R.H.S. corner edge of the top glass , away from display area. Still wondering what that has to do with Volume Controls. How the warranty is Void ... ??

  • In my mia1 i find the Google play services drain my internet about one gigabyte In day can you check it in your mi a1 thanks for any help

  • Apparently a lot of MiA1 owner in my country have the same issue, i can see them complaining same issue as my, in particularly Slow GPS & Weak Signal, mind you we live in the capital city where signal is the strongest. i encounter 3 auto reboot after August patch, no apps running & the phone just switch off by itself & turn back on.

  • my phone hasnt done any of those things ever :x sorry.

  • Till now, I never actually got any major problem other than RAM management seems not well performed as it will start to kill any using apps in the background when multitasking. I just have to restart my phone every few days which doesn't take long to reboot.

  • Make sure to go into settings and pair new device since it doesn't automatic pair up just by turning on Bluetooth

  • I got the skullcandy ink'd wireless and it pairs fine.

  • Auto reboot, multiple apps crash, slow GPS locking position, weak signal.

  • there are 0 problems with 8.1 oreo i have no idea what you all are talking about.

  • Agree on this, Nougat 7.1.2 was the best, since Oreo 8.0 update the problem is like endless, Oreo 8.1 slightly better but still the stability still far from Nougat, especially on the GPS locking speed.

  • Hey guys, is anyone having an issue with the Bluetooth? it's not pairing to my Hesh 3 wireless by Skull Candy. I just got the phone today, and i'm just wondering is it the new update patch that happened in August? Thank you

  • I installed very little apps in my phone, I don't even install Facebook & Insta in my MiA1, i have only use up 25GB of the 64GB ROM including system apps, there only 1 game in my phone which is Pokemon Go. Yet I experienced lot of issue with this phone.

  • Looks like you install tonns of crap apps without having need of it, thats why you suffer and have bad experience with every phone and keep complaining like a brat.

  • Xiaomi power button tend to spoiled easily, I would suggest install a screen lock widget, now I hardly use the physical power button, unless for screen shot which is very rare occasion.

  • If you experience this issue, this must probably be the physical power button being loose or not functioning well. This is definitely not software problem or updates, it is a power button issue and need to be replaced. Even you disabled camera shortcut gesture, you will experience the screen on and off as it is registered 2 click when you actually clicked once. I can see so many people experience this, it must be a design problem of buttons of Mi A1. Replace it within warranty period or the button will eventually break overtime.

  • I am on latest August 2018 update with 8.1.0 version. Never had any problems. Only few things I ensure is - use apps from trusted sources and load only required apps ( avoid unwanted/ unnecessary apps just coz it's free) My system runs smooth and problem free.

  • I suggest to u all never update your mi a1 until android p release if have a lot of bugs,i m still use this phone on android 7.1.2 since november 2017..never had any problem yet..just wait for stable version, hope this help :)

  • That's camera launch feature, which can be switched off from settings. Quick double click launches camera app.

  • Thanks! seems the problem is solved.

  • I have beenusing this phone sine se 2017.i have no problem bedi des better

  • Probably it get switch on by the update. Just go Setting - System - Gesture - Jump to camera (off it).

  • yes facing the same issue since long....also gave the feedback on device but didnt get reply or any update, please suggest if anyonce can idea how to fix this issue.

  • Anybody facing problem with on-off switch on the R.H.S. of the phone body. Whenever I press this button the Camera App opens. Thos is so since OREO 8.1 update.

  • There is a serious problem with proximity sensor

  • Yes and it happens when you are in an app. By default, you have to drop down notification shade to accept the call and it will displays a phone icon overlay on the side of the screen just like FB messenger.

  • Are you referring to audio effects? It depends on your earphone, it produces different kind of sound output. Just try it out to suit your taste of sound.

  • This is most probably proximity sensor that didn't sense your face when leaning your ear on the earpiece. It did happened to me, I think the proximity sensor not sensitive enough to sense when I talk in earpiece.

  • During call, screen wakes accidentally and speaker icon gets pressed to turn ON the speaker. Quite annoying while talking on phone in office area. Anybody else observed this behavior with Mi A1? Otherwise a great phone to have. I bought mine in January this year and till now havent faced any problem other than this Speaker turning ON accidentally during call.

  • I used to face this issue too. it's due to a kernel wakelock and you can fix it by executing some commands after you root your phone. But without rooting your phone, as a workaround, you can fix it by connecting an OTG adapter to your phone. Connect just the OTG adapter without the pendrive. The reason for the drain is due to 70000.ssusb which is a kernel wakelock which does not let your phone go to deep sleep and drains your battery. The above workaround stops this wakelock and will put your phone to deep sleep while not in use.

  • Just purchased mi a1 from mine online store. It's screen showsize a weird matrix like look when turned off. Just like block lines. Otherwise display is OK. Is it normal with this product? Thanks in advance

  • What was your previous phone ? Nokia 3310 ?

  • Does the audio enhancement actually work Because I can't make a difference between norm mode and enhanced mode...

  • This phone is a beast. I just had it for a few weeks and I love it. Not the best phone, but still great. No problems with Android 8.1 Oreo. I hope it gets Pie soon!

  • I too am facing huge/excessive battery drain issue after the august patch, the battery is draining about 20% overnight with data service, wifi and GPS turned off; i am hardly getting about 3.5 to 4 hrs of SOT after a full charge with just moderate usage. The battery never behaved this much strangely ever before. The august patch has ruined my smartphone experience as now i have to worry more about the battery drain rather than missing notifications. ANDROID ONE PROGRAM FOR THIS PHONE IS PROBABLY IN WRONG HANDS!!!

  • lot's of apps crash after Oreo 8.1 update.

  • After update to 8.1 everything is good for me

  • Caller display sometimes not showing, very difficult to recieve phone.

  • no they're not. Good price for good quality products, not cheap nonsense with low durability and repairability

  • Yes it causes severe irritating effect on ear while making calls

  • if there do that Xiaomi will not sent them any phone for review nor provide them news on Xiaomi new launch, Is all about business decision.

  • I have known that Mi A1 has the top high radiation of 1.75 w/kg and i have bought this phone upon your reviews specially Gsmarena team who supposed to address this problem in the review

  • Xiaomi has lousy camera, lousy GPS, unable to stream HD (Max 540p), button not durable, I have 3 Xiaomi phone, Mi3, Mi Max2, MiA1.

  • Nokia is overpriced. The other brands are expensive also but low specs. Xiaomi has a great value for money.

  • Go for Nokia 6.1 which is way better.

  • the price between them ...

  • Why limit yourselves to Xiaomi alone, Nokia, Moto, Asus all has Android One phone & there features ia way better than MiA1 or MiA2 Lite. You should try out Nokia then you'll never return to Xiaomi ever again.

  • Mi A1 still a better choice than the newer Xiaomi Android One phones, which are better if their best features are combined, such as USB Type C and Wifi AC support (A2) or SD card support and standard audio jack (A2 Lite only). Mi A1 has all these features plus 2x optical zoom in one fairly well-designed and well-built body. Only I like in Mi A2 Lite is the bigger battery. I don't like the Apple copycat screen. Major shortcoming of all the Xiaomi Android One phones is the lack of front camera flash. So no taking nightime selfies!

  • The new update is not good and the call background is full white first one was good. Please change the background and even notification bar. Thankyou

  • i absolutely love it, it works very well, very stable and a lot of capicity to sustain all my needs more and over.

  • its useless to have FM Radio hardware but can only be access thru test mode, its very difficult to control the volume & channel, thought there is a apps in Google Play allowed us to skip the long code keying it still go to the test mode.

  • You should try Samsung with Android 7 & above, then you see very little bloatware & operator smoothly, Android 4.2.2 is such outdated version, even my A5 2016 run on Android 6. Stock Android is too bare for my liking, worse still Xiaomi put in there own camera apps which is a lousy one.

  • It has FM radio capabilities when you'r in test mode, but FM radio app is no where to be found, and there is no way of installing it except if phone is rooted. Very disappointing. That was a must have for me -.-

  • NO useful purpose will be served (by downgrading). My MiA1 is doing better with 8.1.0 Aug patch. Install app called Greenify (dev. by Oasis Feng), which needs privileges (works on non-root phones also) to run. Using this app, You can hibernate all user apps (when not needed). The system apps can only be stopped using Setting, App, etc. BUT BE CAREFUL!! There are some VITAL Sys Apps, leave them alone. You can also DISABLE quite a few SyS Apps as well (WARNING: be more careful). You can reverse this by Enable. Rebooting will bring back all (enabled) apps and some User apps. Back to Square one. Run Greenify and also kill Sys apps again. All these to save battery. I have been using Greenify since Feb 2013, daily, many times!! Of Course, YOU have to enable Battery Saver option in Android One (all the time) - Best practice used by me! Battery 100% to 15% in 60 hrs and 15% to 100% Charging in 1 hr 30 mins.

  • I didn't like Android One at first, so lean and thin, a real climb down from loaded and bloated Samsung Android 4.2.2 whose Phone app could be configured to do much; built-in FM rec. App! The Android One has the poorest phone app (and no FM app) and still is poor (Android 8.1.0). But NOW I feel the non-bloat, trim nature of Android One (on MiA1) is an asset and strength! But Android 9 will kill many apps like Phone-call-recorder (uprooted phones) and many unspecified. Google/Android teams think BIG and IGNORES the SMALL. This is going to be a real DISASTER!!

  • Dear All, I have updated my phone to August security patch but I am facing battery draining issue except all is well. I need your suggetion, should I downgrade my phone to 7.1.1 for better performance or stay updated? pls suggest

  • My MiA1 since Sep 15, 2017. Battery Life Very Good and improving (August patch). H/W very good and no lag. Lost 12 days of SMS with Jul patch (had some backup).

  • Never buy into salesman talk...lol You are lucky to bought Xiaomi phone now, back in 2015 when i first bought my Mi3, i have endless issue in each update, some times i need to wait for 2-3 months to have the problem solve. Anyway this is the risk of using stock android phone, most update are buggy, even Google own Pixel phone are not spared.

  • Me 2 having same problem

  • What a bastards then. Its ok if the update come but if udpate never comes I think this is not good. I as user do not care if hardware or software fault it is - it has to do what it was saying it does when selling.

  • Suddenly after the update, my phones ear speaker and also the sound speaker is not working. No videos or songs are doing audio output. I can't even listen to people calling. However when I am using headphones, I can listen to everything pretty clearly. Any idea why is it happening? Note : The speaker is working while calling, without connecting headphone.

  • Go with Mi A1. However, if you can spend few extra bucks ,opt for Mi A1. Better processor. Other advantage is it will receive Android 10 as well. mi A1 with end with Android 9.

  • Received August update. Working fine.

  • reboot your phone, if it doesn't work do a back up & factory reset. i didn't come across such issue.

  • The volumes notification will fade away instantly if you press volume rocker & didn't try to adjust the volume, if you try to adjust the volume it'll take about 3 seconds to fade away, which i think this is a good features as i may want to readjust other volume.

  • Missed Calls notification is not working after August update. Also, do not like the white background on the phone list...recents...contacts

  • Out of these 2 definitely Mi A1, but if you can afford I strongly suggest Note 5 Pro.

  • Missed call notification not showing on notification bar. After updating the August security patch. I can't see the missed calls on notification bar. It is a major bug noticed after updating the August security patch.

  • Just update to the newest version (August 2018). everything getting so much better. LED notification works normally, front camera getting better, audio volume getting louder like before. battery seems to be normal, nothing different. Overall satisfied

  • Noticed a small bug in the August update: When using the volume slider and it pops up on the screen it stay on he screen and does not fade out as before. so you need to swipe up or down for it to disappear was this a feature?

  • Which one would you recommend, this one (mi a1) or redmi 5plus? Thank you

  • I've been using this device since January, best buy at that time (193€) for a budget smartphone. Overall it's been a very solid experience with very few issues. It's still as smooth as first day with no stuttering or touch screen issues, battery still holds for a long time even after 2+ months of extensive gaming. 4 hours of SOT with max brightness, 6+ hours on adaptive brightness using it on mostly WiFi. [ pros ] - premium design - smooth & fast stock android - frequent updates - great battery optimization - quality portrait mode (low light major drops in overall quality) [ cons ] - no fast charging - mediocre 5mpx front camera and no image stabilization (gcam can be installed without root and it is great)

  • Is Xiaomi fault as Google will send the update to Xiaomi first, Xiaomi will made some modifications before releases to customer. This is due to the reason Xiaomi has customisation to MiA1 stock Android.

  • my battery life got a lot better.

  • I want to say that it is working very well with my MiA1. Never actually ran into major issue which affects my experience with MiA1. Battery is always great since I got it in October last year. Yes the only major problem are the updates that delayed and slow and new Android version should have been released to us. In the end it is Xiaomi's fault that delaying the MiA1 major update, Google also responsible for not strict in handling AndroidOne hardware vendor for releasing software updates.

  • İt's not fail of Xiaomi it's fail of Google

  • Okay, lesson learned. Now dont update to September patch when it arrives. Otherwise your battery will die to 0% as soon as you unplug the charger. Lol...

  • Battery Life getting worse after Aug update, Fully charged & unplug at 7am, By 3pm only balance 25%, check battery usage look normal no draining apps running in background, after update I did factory reset, something went wrong with the update, prior to the update phone is on 2nd July Oreo 8.1, usually the battery should be at at least 60% by 3-4pm & 20-25% by 10pm

  • You should go for Nokia X6 aka Nokia 6 1 plus instead.

  • If you own the phone since October 2017 you would know it getting worse after November 2017, the phone was superb during October when i bought it, then the update just make it worsen over time. Since Oreo 8.0 update on 31st December 2017 the phone just giving endless problems. Now i know why many think is no problem with the phone as you all been using problem phone since day 1... lol

  • Please get MiA2 lite instead, it have 18:9 screen, 4000mha battery.

  • I own xiaomi mi a1 since November OK, I think this phone is amazing, despite many issues from the software but overall I like this phone with all of its features like the bokeh camera, face recognition, and its speed of processor I don't know what happened with others, but for me this phone is more than enough 8/10

  • Im about to get this phone!

  • i am on Oreo 8.1 & i havr many issue with my phone.

  • i own MiA1 since October 2017 probably longer than most of you all, Yes i have many issue with MiA1 since November 2017, then problem got worse after 31st December 2017 Oreo 8.0 updates & the problem persist for 6 months until May 2018, Then when Oreo 8.1 update in July, a second July update unable to solve some issue, not until last 2 days Oreo 8.1 August update. almost 10 months of ownership i havr unless ussue with MiA1 ranging from minor to some very serious issue.

  • hes a hater who doesnt even own the device. i guarantee you. Ive never had any issues with this phone

  • I am on stock Android One 8.1 and have no issues at all.

  • Android 8.1 update was full of bugs, slow no notification light, multitouch problem! etc etc. so I downgraded my stock rom to 7.1.2 now its perfect!,

  • What do you mean "rare" LED notification light not blink when there is incoming message? Everyone has this problem after the update, so it obviously a "Common" & uncalled of issue which shouldn't happened in the first place, Xiaomi never did a proper test before release it to customer. There just released it & wait for customers to make complain & took a whole month to fixed a issue such as this.

  • I received August security patch update

  • Also received, now notification light blinking instead of still on/bright

  • Good update as always. Solves a rare non blinking LED bug.

  • Good update solving the problem of flash blinking....1August update...

  • Just receive August security update 474.4 MB.

  • Now that we are nearing the end of August, last mi A1 security update was 1st July, I guess there are no security problems with Android one since July or the mi A1 had now been abandoned by Xiaomi in favour of their new mi A2.

  • Just basic face recognition, pretty much useless actually. Don't expect IPhone X style face ID.

  • does this phone has face id?

  • Yes, I faced network issue after 2nd Oreo 8.1 update as well.

  • Not everyone live in Developed Nation with fast & cheap internet data plan, Many countries has slow & very expensive internet. Anyway listening to radio is more than just music or song, we also listen to news & some informative channel, many of us also need to use public commuter to works & study, this can take up to 1-2 hours or more on each trip, listen to radio is a good pass time.

  • Network issue after oreo update, sometimes network goes out of coverage.

  • Who listents FM Radio in this day and age, when you have Google Play Music. Great phone, fast 4 G 1 Mbps, cheap plan I use. Streaming all works. Good connection where my old Samsung phone was about to die ion coverage, this has 4G connections. Amazing phone, no need for a radio. Camera inside could be better, outside is fine.

  • There is no radio apps or shall I called it widget in MiA1, the only way for you to listen to FM Radio is to key in a bunch of code to activate the hardware test mode, but it very difficult to control the volume & station in hardware test mode. You can't install FM Radio widget in MiA1. If you like listening to FM Radio all day, is better that you get Redmi Note 5 or other brand & model that come with FM Radio.

  • I like this phone so I when to check it out in a shop today. The demo phone has few apps but I cant find any radio app inside. Is it the 'radio app' come with new phone or is it possible the 'radio app' has been deleted from the demo unit? I like to listen to radio in the morning and evening.

  • Disappoints with MiA1, very bad network connection & inaccurate GPS, photo taken indoor not clear, FM Radio no widget need to go to test mode to listen & very troublesome, screen colour very pale, i thought Pure Android should not lag, but apparently this phone quite lag, phone update often have bugs & need to wait for update to solve, problem is each update solve a few bugs & bring in new bugs, is like endless problems.

  • Bought it today second hand for 100 euros. Great phone after shiter phones. Camera good at sunny weather. Night photos not very clear

  • No, not an important features to most anyway.

  • Yes, I confirm this has IR blaster. I personally use my phone instead of the TV remote most of the time.

  • Yes, it does

  • Can someone who has this phone please confirm that it has the IR Blaster remote control feature? (I find this incredibly useful wen traveling. Hotels/apartments often provide only a basic remote; some have a Smart TV with far more features or services than you can access. Using a full-function remote on a phone or tablet gets you all of these features back.)

  • has anyone yet received the august update?

  • Why do you want timely update? when u want to stay on old firmware, and mock the new update for no reason. That doesnt make any sense. Respect the hardworking people behind it. Mi A1 Rocks.

  • Thanks. Good advice hehe

  • Earth is round & so are Sun & Moon, same goes star.

  • this phone has android 8.1 and July 1st security update

  • lol.. the only true about your claim is less price.

  • If you look at Xiaomi previous update sequence, there update newer model before the older one.

  • When was the last time you uses a flagship phone ?.. Karbonn or Micromax .. lol

  • Great phone.excellent battery timing.flagship in less price.

  • just a suggestion, if you plan to buy xiaomi smartphone, buy it every year so u get the lastest support from the team ( 5 times with xiaomi, and mi a1 is the last, change back to samsung it have better support )

  • Guys you see i told you. Another nonsense comment. apart from non blinking LED Mi A1 doesnt have any issues. Mi A1 will get Android Pie Before Mi A2.

  • yes, they did promise android p. I will be very unhappy if they don't upgrade to android p. Also, Currently, Android Pie is launched for Android, not Android One. They are different. So, I am sure if Android Pie is launched for Android one, Mi A1 should get it.

  • buy a camera then! lol

  • Is a cheap to own phone, nothing more than that, I have Samsung phone at the similar price range, is way better than MiA1.

  • Should be next year 2019.

  • There is FM Radio hardware in the phone but no Widget to activate it, you can download a apps to activate it thru hardware test mode, but no so user friendly.

  • when update for android 9.0 my xiaomi mi a1?

  • No Fm radio! Better change the specs.

  • He posts nonsense comments. Mi A1 is a great phone.

  • This phones cameras are not even good in good light. I'm done with Xiaomi, cameras are terrible.

  • I have Sandisk USB type C OTG, which works fine using ES Explorer .

  • Does this phone has USB OTG, i tried USB to USB type C adapter (didn't work) then i try USB type C to Micro USB adapter (still doesn't work), try install 3rd party File Manager still it doesn't work. Only way for me to export the video is thru PC, which is quite hassle since i don't have a PC at home & company PC doesn't allow flash drive. Can anyone here share your experience ?

  • Well ! until MiA1 Android Pie actually seeding, it's merely a launch promo "promise"

  • Are you a troll or what when people say a true fact you just come with your I think so nonsense. The fact is Xiami and Google promised android P at launch of the phone so that that until they say otherwise stop lying with your fake assumption.

  • Promise are made to be broke, What can you do if Xiaomi didn't update the phone to Android Pie ? Sue them ? The priority now goes to MiA2.

  • The cam in this phone is not so good in low light conditions, video mode is not so good, recording sound quality is bad. Dropping frame rates usually, and it cant export the 120fps slomo video

  • Stop it they did promise this phone will get android P on launch Livestream just watch on YouTube.

  • Absent of FM Radio widget despite there is FM Radio hardware in phone, activating thru hardware test mode is tedious & difficult to control the volume & channels. Lack of proper push mail apps, the gmail sharing is not user friendly. Lack of sound recording for call which is important to me. The low light & artificial light photo is a disaster, 90% of the photo i am taking are in these lighting conditions. The antennas is kind of weak, same goes the GPS. I

  • i have a Note 7FE, so far so good, i didn't end up as suicide bombers... lol

  • A purchase yesterday, coming from Samsung phone. No bloatware, no double apps, some most Xiaomi apps can be deleted and I did. So only one Xiaomi app is Feedback. No other bloatware, new Android update right away from the box. Amazing, no more double-apps for mail, music, browserand gallery... my last Samsung it was. Cahrge time super fast, it's like having no charge time at all. Google Duo preinstalled app is bad selection, would Hangouts be better? Disabled and replaced with Hangouts. It took 6MB disabled, so no problems and just one app - it's amazing. I only installed Fit and Hangouts, all else was what I needed. Play Music, Play Movies, Chrome, Photos... Preinstalled Google apps only 21. Gorgeously simple app list - no bloatware, no ads, nothing - just apps you need. The best phone. Camera is good, but it could be more detailed in colours.

  • Samsung Has TOO MANY phones. IT'S LIKE A HAREM!! Their Top Management is Psychotic. You Forgot Note 7!! Scared Samsung gives Note 8 with LOW battery. Now Note 9. Value for money?? I hope it doesn't BLOW up while charging.

  • Hello, NO promise to give P, Only 2 yr updates, 8.X.X. We now got 8.1.0 (ver 2) Jul 01 patch. May be we'll get 8.1.9.

  • My MiA1 is of Sep 2017, P was announced for Android One phones from Oct 2017. So no P. Would you give the source of this News, which you gave? It's too recent.

  • Not exited at all, each update would bring more issue, the previous Oreo 8.0 update bring so many issues & it took months to solve, luckily this is only my secondary phone, no more Xiaomi phone for me that's for sure Would go for Nokia once X6 @ 6.1 plus launch in my country.

  • Good news for every mi a1 users. Xiaomi has confirmed that mi a1 will get android p. Aren't you excited guys. Can't wait to upgrade my mi a1 to p9 version. Well done Thank you... Thank you Xiaomi. Keep up the good work.

  • Is anyone here having any network issues after 8.1 user.? I tried changing my sim card, I even tried porting thinking may be Airtel sucks! But damn the problem remains the same. Factory reset did not change anything as well. Can anyone help me here.?

  • Screen colour look pale or washed out, also easily crack when drop, fragile screen.

  • Phone warranty had nothing to do with firmware update problem, even if you have issue like SMS wipeout, Slow GPS, Bluetooth issue, LED light not blinking when there is message, the warranty does not cover it & there is nothing the service can do about it, unless the firmware corrupt the phone & cause it to hang, then all there can do is to reinstall the firmware for you, if it doesn't solve the issue there'll tell you to wait for next update. I have GPS issue during Oreo 8.0 update during late 2017, i sent my phone to the Service Centre only to be told to wait for next update, eventually it took 5 more update for a periods of 4.5 months to solve the issue.

  • The SMS Wipeout problem is during the 1st Oreo 8.1 update, Now what you get is the 2nd Oreo 8.1 update. If you didn't update the 1st Oreo 8.1 then you be getting the "fix" 2nd Oreo update. But most probably you get the LED light doesn't blink when there is Incoming message problem. GPS problem was during Oreo 8.0 update, it last a few months from December 2017 until April 2018

  • I was afraid to update to 8,1, but friends said to update and I did. In worst case there is warranty. Few days after update, I dont see any problems so far. Even SMS is not deleted like somebody said. GPS works.

  • Until the day MiA1 get Android Pie update, Whatever 2 years updates promise is merely empty talk.

  • Many manufactures also give promise during launch, that doesn't mean there would honor it. Xiaomi can always delay the update, or claim the hardware can't supports Android Pie.

  • This is Android one phone and must get all update at least 2 years.

  • At launch of MI A1 they promised that it will get Android P so no worries I'm sure it will come this year or maybe sooner but at least we are gonna get it.

  • Maybe maybe not, no one can give you a sure answer, as MiA2 already in the market, priority may goes to MiA2 than this outdated model.

  • MiA2 is more of a downgrade actually, the battery life are pathetic. I rather pay marginally more & get a much better Nokia 7 plus with SD card slot & 3.5mm audio jack, not forgetting a bigger battery, most of all top notch build quality.

  • I have not encountered any of the problems that you seem to have. As for the led notification; it does not blink, but it lights up. This is fine by me. I am using lawnchair launcher and not the std launcher 3 ; u need to explore the settings in the lawnchair to set things up. Audio works 100 % thru speaker and headset from razer. I am happy with the phone, but will consider upgrade to a Mi A 2.

  • Are they gonna release android pie for this phone?

  • Audio quality at low to medium volume is terrible. The speaker sound is cracked and distorted. The headphone sound has a strange hissing to it. Like a high frequency noise.

  • Depends what you looking for, J5 still has many advantages over MiA1 eg. Better camera, better display, more stable UI, FM Radio, many useful apps. For the price you better off with Samsung J8, A6, maybe even J7 prime if you don't mind is a 2 year model. Pure android lack of many features if you get use to Samsung TW UI or Grace UX.

  • Is it better than J5 2016 from Samsung, is it worth updating after 2 Years with my J5 2016 smart phone ? It seems to be affordable and better.

  • It would be nice, Anonymous, if you wrote in intelligible English.

  • For me the LED notification light not blink is an issue, often i can't tell when there is a message come in while charging the phone, i need to wake the phone to check from time to time (some company whatapps & email need to be attend immediately), my office rule is that message should be in silent mode since is quite annoying if many phone keep beeping, some people may have hundreds if not thousand of message a day from various message & social media apps. Yes this a consider deal breaker.

  • I am not expecting to get Oreo exactly, but an update once and a while is expected considering what I got for the price at that time (LG G4). It is not a matter of old phone vs new phone, in my opinion it is the fact that cheaper phone now offering MORE value for the bucks compared to the flagships. I am not saying they are better, but for the value I am very happy with Mi A1. I am sorry if you seem to be having a lot of bugs, if I have my sms records wiped out I would not be happy as well :) I have not heard any of my friends got their text records deleted though, and they are using Mi A1 as well. Maybe you got a defective phone? BTW I also have Samsung S8, bought that phone only for the camera, since I need to take photos for my work sometimes. I cannot argue the build quality on S8 is excellent, but still, for the value Mi A1 still wins (S8 is three times more expensive).

  • Doing a factory reset after the update fixes some bugs except the Notification LED bug. After the update my mobile is working fine with good battery backup and performance except the Notification LED BUG and thats not even a deal breaker bug.

  • I am Ok with phone still running on Android 6 or 7 as long as is stable & problem free, compare to phone getting latest Android but keep having bugs. BTW LG G4 is a 2015 product & you expect it to get Android Oreo ?? LG not even among top 5 brand, In my country LG don't even bother to bring in latest model as the sale are so pathetic, compare with Samsung which we will be among the first batch country to get it during each global launching. I noticed the similarities among those who think MiA1 is a great phone, there all using a very old phone previously, eg. LG G4, Samsung Note 2 or Note 3, ... lol

  • It will be better if you describe the problem you are facing that came along with the update. Mi A1 is ok with each update, maybe a bug once in a while, but considering the price and how quick the update was, it is definitely worth it. I have another phone which is LG G4 (flagship phonand still got the same Android Marshmallow since it was released, the interface looked old compared to the new Oreo.

  • There is a long list of problem from Oreo 8.1 updates, ranging from LED notification light won't blink when there is message, battery drained, random reboot, Bluetooth random turn on, white tint at the bottom of the screen, entire SMS recors get wipeout. Btw did your LED notification light blink when there is a incoming message ? ... lol

  • You seem to be making derogatory statements with nothing to back them up. I ve updated to 8.1 and the phone works fine, Thank you.

  • MiA1 despite getting Android updates but those are Sampah update, each update bring problem, It gave endless issue in each update, Brengsek phone. There developer team is like having otak udang, simply release the update without proper testing Blah-Bloh!

  • Battery drain issue after July update. Just click 3 to 4 photos battery drain 1 to 2 percent .very very annoying.

  • I am from Indonesia and have been using Mi A1 for almost 1 year. The phone is really great for its price, with Android One platform you will get an update as soon as possible, not like the flagship brands. Camera is decent, not great but enough for daytime. Fingerprint sensor is quick, battery life is excellent, no heating problem whatsoever (charging, watching film, social media browsing, etc). The only cons are sometimes the GPS is not accurate and the screed dim sensor when you pick up the phone is not working (so that I will accidentally press a button with my ear). Very satisfied with the value. I can say that Mi A2 is worst because of the lack in expandable storage, no 3,5 mm jack. It feels like it is providing less features than Mi A1. I would prefer those two features than better camera and bigger screen. Hope this review helps.

  • Xiaomi giving problematic Oreo 8.1, better don't update the specifications here, it's will only bring shame to them. Anyway this is already a obsolete model, replaced by MiA2, updating the specifications here doesn't carry any weight to improve the sales.

  • Update information that is upgradable to Android 8.1 (Oreo), because I already upgraded moms to that.

  • Please lunch mi a1 software record

  • Now i have random reboot issue & Bluetooth random turn on issue.

  • Done factory reset still the same.

  • We all know that & done factory reset, same issue, so far no solutions. This month alone i have done 3 times factory reset, all the problems still there.

  • my friend has this phone, he is super satisfied. you people don't even know that you have to do factory reset after the updates to counteract the bugs.

  • Don't forget the battery drained faster & LED notification light won't blink when received messages. My phone so far reboot twice, hang few times, it also heat up easily. Now my MiA1 turn into a garbage phone.

  • 8.1 update messed this device up completely. The fingerprint sensor is slower than ever, device hiccups every once in a while and the headphone volume has been lowered in a tremendous way. Xiaomi screwed it!

  • I am using this phone and I am absolutely happy with it. Regarding software-related problems, there aren't major ones. The phone is stable, fluid and I am yet to experience a sudden restart. There are some minor issues, e.g. LED notification not blinking after 8.1 update, instead it is constantly on once you have a notification, but this doesn't bother me. Additionally, sometimes (rarely) google app freezes for a few seconds, but I have experienced this on other phone brands, so it is not Xiaomy-related and will likely get fixed with google app update.

  • Your comments dont make any sense. Mi A1 doesn't have any problems apart from notification light from recent update, which is a very small issue. It will be fixed in August patch for sure.

  • Pure Android software are known for having many issue, even back in those day when pure android Nexus phone. If you want almost problem free phone, get a Samsung.

  • I qas thinking of getting this phone. Am I right in thinking that this has too many problems with software/hardware? I find it strange that an android one phone has so many software issues.

  • Here's 3 methods see it's help 1.) Reboot your phone (usually due to some apps not working properly). 2.) Make a backup & do a factory reset (this usually solved 99% of problem) 3.) Send back to service center if all above methods failed. Good luck

  • I am having very big problem with my phone may be the Software problem as I am not getting the notifications during the incoming calls to see the notification I need to tapply on the call option to see it.Also the options like Bluetooth, flashlight, loudspeaker turn on automatically during the ongoing incoming calls due to sensor problem. Can u please suggest what to do

  • Found another issue after the 2nd Oreo 8.1 update, now my phone randomly reboot, despite i didn't touch any button, battery at 90%, not running any apps, no new apps been install, ROM still has 42GB of free space. Xiaomi is amazing each update bring more issue than benefit.

  • For battery drain, check your APN settings. If you can set it to default again. Especially for 3G networks.

  • Go to setting - battery, to check which apps ia draining your battery.

  • Anyone else having problem with 5GHz wifi in mi a1. my mi a1 can't seems to find 5GHz wifi i tried changing wifi channel 36,40,44,48 but no luck

  • He guys..my mbl is consuming or decreasing battery by self..suppose if keep my mbl on 50% charge in night when i get up early in mrng ..my mbl phn has consuming or decreasing battery 15 to 20% by self..without using it..i can't understand this problem.why is it..?

  • Me too, after the update battery drain faster, usually i will use my MiA1 as GPS navigator (using waze) when i reach my office atter 1 hour of travelling the battery usually lost 7% power, now when i reach my office the battery lost 12%, juice. Previously i need not to charge the phone in office as it can last me whole day & still has around 20% by end of the day, now i need to charge the phone in the office, if don't charge it i worry it will be out of power when i need to use it as GPS when going home.

  • I did, the battery drain much faster after Oreo 8.1 update, lost about 1 hour SOT, Now my phone only has 1 day battery life instead of 1.5 day, that's base on average usage, in I would to use it heavily, it only lasted 12 hours.

  • You mean previously the LED notification light will blink when there is a incoming message, In the latest update the developer deliberately make the LED doesn't blink when there is incoming message, what the purpose ? to confuse the user during charging so that there won't know there is message or to confuse them when the phone is in low power & there is message ? So the purpose of developer doing that is to confuse the user ? what a brilliant developer... lol

  • This is not a software problem. It was created by the developer himself.

  • Since I bought this phone last year in October I never had an issue with batery

  • anyone having the battery drain issue after 8.1 update?

  • Remember to update your phone to latest 2nd edition Oreo 8.1 firmware, then come back & see you still praise the battery life... lol

  • bought my miA1/androidOne last 7/23. played pubg for 4hrs straight on power saving mode and still has 27% battery to spare. great phone and value for money👍

  • Does your LED notification light blink when there's incoming message... lol

  • Mi a1..... Rs........?

  • what issues? I have this phone and I have no issues

  • Get yourself a Nokia 6.1 plus 2018 instead, Both MiA1 & MiA2 lite has lot's of software issue, the camera also quite bad.

  • Same..i can’t sent out sms too :(

  • Hey guys which one do you recommend this mi a1 or mi a2 lie lite. Thanks.

  • True, just install LineageOS

  • ...they are testing the update through the users and not in their labs. They do not care about their customers. Chinese Xiaomi.

  • Same here... head phone volume less than half what it was before update

  • Apps don't crash on my Mi A1. I wasn't comparing the two phones, I was merely stating that since the bug I am experiencing exists on both phones, it is not specifically Xiaomi's fault, rather Google's...

  • same here, the volume is too low for music, they lowered when everyone complained about the hissing from earphone jack, but now it is distorted and low, so stop complaining because it opens more issues, i rather the hissing and high volume..

  • Yes same case here, there is no adjustment in the setting like it used to be during Nougat. Now I can't tell what the LED notification is about, as all notification is just a constant on light, Incoming message, low battery, charging, all the same. Do these people even test the update before release it to the user, I have loss all my confidence on Xiaomi Android One program, MiA2 is definitely a big no no to me.

  • Volume from the 3.5mm audio jack thru earphones or headphones, not the phone speaker. I tested 4 pairs of earphones & 1 pair of headphones, all shown similar low volume, then I test it on my Samsung phone the volume are normal, this shows the issue are with the phone after update. Luckily I listen to FM radio using another phone, as MiA1 FM Radio has no widget to activate or control, can only access thru test mode. The low volume issue starts since 1st Oreo 8.1 update & the second update doesn't seem to able to solve it. The battery life also going from 1.5 day to barely 1 day, SOT drop from 5.5-6hr to 4.5-5hr, unplug the phone at 6am & by 8:30pm it went down to 2%, this is just base on average usage. Don't factory reset, problem still there. Though I have worst encounter during Oreo 8.0 update on 31st December 2017, But still this is frustrating.

  • after 8.1 july update, my notification light is not blinking again, it just lit..

  • Just checked decibels on volume of 8,1 updated m1 ...same as before update. No problems so far sounds good

  • The latest version (8.1) has ruined the phone's audio. Extremely low volume with the companion of high distortion. Extremely disappointed.

  • Don't compare caveman era LG G3 with MiA1, Might as well you compare MiA1 with Motorola Dynatec Compare with other 2017 midrange phone, MiA1 definitely have more issue & apps crash, i own a same price range Samsung & never once i have apps crash, compare to MiA1 which have apps crash almost on daily basis.

  • Singapore user here. Updated to 8.1.0 a few days ago. I now cannot send SMS out! Sms in, phone in and out, 4G are fine.. Anyone same problem?

  • So far I don't have any bugs... Sometimes my google app freezes but I've been experiencing it for a year now, even on my previous LG G3, so it is not exclusive to A1...

  • it's better to have a stable but older version of Android than a unstable vision of newer Android, So far MiA1 Oreo 8.0 & 8.1 been giving us hell time. Each update bring more bugs than improvement.

  • MI A1 will get Android 9(P) but im not sure redmi note 5 pro will get.

  • What bugs are you experiencing with Oreo 8.1 update?

  • Yes, i experienced at least 3 bugs after Oreo 8.1 first & second update.

  • is anyone experiencing bugs in the 8.1 update?

  • Yes.

  • MiA1 been in the market for merely 10 months max, but you been using it for 1 year, are you CEO of Xiaomi which you get to use the phone before it launch ?? Are you Lei Jun the Xiaomi CEO ?

  • Can you mention that problems ? I am using redmi 4x and its too good I am thinking to buy a1 now ?

  • I have use this phone about 6 month nice phone and what fabulous cameras with portrait mode

  • Is it still worth to buy in 2018?

  • It's a year I am using this phone. Have had no issues whatsoever. I updated it to 8.1 (2nd update) and it's running smooth. I have no problem in terms of LED lights, power problem or anything. It's cause of following things: - only required apps downloaded apart from standard Google apps( WhatsApp, Truecaller, paytm, BB Hub service, MS office suite, Bank apps, Bhim app, Facebook apps). No extra baggage of unwanted free apps or games. - never use my phone while it's charging.using original charger only. - no games With above things, I am enjoying a smooth and trouble free pure Android experience.

  • Use the Feeback Widget & sent your compliant.

  • If you like Stock Android then Nokia 6.1 plus If you like stable UI then Samsung J7 plus @ C7 (of available in your country) else Samsung A6 I'll stay away from Xiaomi after owning 2 units include MiA1, then phone though cheap to own but really tons of problem.

  • LED Notification light does not blink for incoming message after the Android 8.1 update Bugs ...bugs introduced

  • From thousands of reviews youtube videos, i bought MIA1 but now i regret it. Guys which is the best phone @ this same price category..? i want to throw it away this!!

  • Nougat 7.1.2 update in October was the best update, after that each update solve few issues & bring in few issues. Thought the april Oreo 8.0 update solved the GPS problem, which started since November 2017, it took Xiaomi 6 months to solved GPS tracking issue, it works on some network & doesn't work on some network. Still i am getting weak & slow GPS now, but still usable, from Nov 2017 till April 2018 it was totally unusable. Now i am having this isssue. 1.) LED notification light not blink when there is incoming message. 2.) 4G signal weak even in city centre (swap the sim to another phone signal strong & fast) so clearly MiA1 problem. 3.) Sometimes white tint appear at the bottom of the screen (especially when i use dark wallpaper) 4.) Weak volume thru ear phone (tested the ear phone on another phone no problem) 5.) Lost GPS signal once phone goes to 3G, the GPS only work on 4G.

  • hahaha i didn't update to 8.1 because I saw the issues ppl are facing now with led notification light etc, everyone is rushing to install and update which really doesn't change anything, just more bugs for u to worry about lol to make u buy another phone

  • Please add integretad screenshot function with next update i hate two button combo and bring back blinking notification led and please add like when you charging phone powered off led stops when phone is 100 charged to power on charging.

  • very poor networking in this set. facing Internet connection problem

  • i noticed an issue with Oreo 8.1 July update (2nd edition), The white LED notification light no longer blink when there's a message, the LED notification just stay on, this problem when i have message come in while charging, as i can't tell when there a message. Even when i not charging the phone, i would have miss the message as non blinking LED notification light will not catch any attention. What's wrong with Xiaomi? making so many silly mistake on each update.

  • Yes its a good update. Improves battery life, no problems.

  • Oreo 8.1 cause battery to drain faster, usually i will have around 35% battery by end of the day, now i end up with 25%, tested for few days same result, SOT drop from 6hr to 5.5hr. Another bad update.

  • Picture to picture features is not working on my Youtube App even after updating to Oreo 8.1

  • Just updated to 8.1.0 also. I love AndroidOne program. :) Guys from GsmArena, please update the phone description to include the newest Android version (8.1.0) available for the device.

  • i have the low volume thru ear phone problem as well, need to increase the volume, but if i do that some hissing sound will appear, the white tinted screen appear once & gone after i restart the phone. i too have network unusable issue & GPS disconnect issue, often i lost navigation guide due to this issue, now i only use my Samsung for Navigation as GPS is very important for me. Most probably I'll replace MiA1 with Nokia 6.1 plus once it launch in my country.

  • i have none of these issues.

  • Just updated to 8.1, Its an awesome update guys. No bugs, new launcher is superb although i use Nova launcher prime, everything is polished, looks very neat. Awesome job xiaomi. Exited for Android PepperMint.

  • Never over charge any Redmi phone. They have a battery budge problem.

  • I factory reset my phone twice, the problem still persist , now i discover another issue, there is a white tint below the screen (is quite obvious of i use a dark wallpaper), this happen after the 2nd July update, when plug in ear phone the sound very low & some disturbance noise appeared, i try 3 different ear phone & 1 headphone, all getting same result, i try those ear phones & head phone with other phone & no issue This is obviously bug in Oreo 8.1 update by Xiaomi.

  • I tried to factory reset my phone. Sadly it didn't change anything. That's quite disappointing because the Mi A1 was one of the best phones I have ever had in terms of audio, and they ruined it. I'm very regretful for updating, with I would've known that earlier.

  • Guys, stop. I had the same problems after the 8.1 update. I just factory reset the phone and bam - all of the problems disappeared! Just factory reset your phone, and it'll be good as new! Just remember to save your contacts, photos, etc.

  • Yes, i have the same problem too, i thought 2nd Orep 8.1 will solve the issue, unfortunately it didn't. Xiaomi is really giving crap update to MiA1, Google giving same Stock android Oreo 8.1 updates to Nokia but didn't have this issue, so obviously is Xiaomi fault.

  • Is anyone else having really mediocre audio performance through headphones after the 8.1 update? The sound is really low and has a terrible distortion.:(

  • i just upgraded to android 8.1, and the phone became slower like the fingerprint sensor, opening and switching apps, anybody having this issue?? the update size was more than 1000 MB is there a newer update?

  • Try dual camera J7 plus @ C7 if it available in your country, it simply blow MiA1 out of the water.

  • J series take better pics than Gcam Mi A1? Are you sure you have camera2api enabled? are you sure you are using GCam?

  • Malaysia here, Only get the 467.3MB update, Maybe because I already update in the first round, this may just a patch to fixed bugs.

  • i would says that majority people use phone cameras for casual photo shot, if a phone camera perform bad in low light or artificial lightning conditions than is consider bad. Most gathering are in indoors & night time, this is the time people taking lot's of photos. Xiaomi cutting cost by using Omni lense instead of Sony lense.

  • Yes, installing now

  • Same here. KSA location. Hopefully all bugs were fixed.

  • July Update with 1152MB by Google, anyone else the same?

  • Just received July update 467.3 MB. Any one received it? What new here?

  • So should i stick with Oreo 8.0 or should i downgrade to nougat?

  • LineageOS 15.1 is now official for this device:

  • What kind of a gcam are you using? I've been using Arnova8G2 ones for months now, noise is barely noticable; especially compared to the stock cam which is a blurry mess

  • it got cancelled a few hours after the update. there was a number of bugs: sms history deleting itself after swiping sms app away from recent apps etc

  • The advantage of F2.2 or F2.6 Lens is that the Depth of Field in the Images is better than that of F1.9 or F1.7 . For the images of a group of persons /subjects having differing distance from the Lens , the one with F2.2 or F2.4 is always better. It is the quality of sensor or the quality of the material of Lens that is more important.

  • Still didn't get June update. And it's middle of July. What is going on ???

  • tried Gcam, not much different, low light photos still very noisy, light years behind Samsung, even low end phone like J series take better photo than MiA1, one of the worst camera i ever use, even my 3 years old A5 take better photo. Xiaomi should stop using low end lense, there need to equip future phone with F1.7 & F1.9 ience & not F2.2, F2.6 lense.

  • use gcam for the camera :)

  • Yes after 8.1 update strange happens.....internet 4g becomes automatically on...even if I off 4g data ...it's internet connection always on....it's not good update from xiaomi ... hopefully they will fix these issued in July update n get a stable 8.1 update

  • not good for those who serious about taking photos, the F2.2 & F 2.6 give rather dark photo especially indoor & under artificial lighting, even during daytime when sky is dark, I tried taking photos under shade & the results lack of details & very noisy. For heavy & graphics intense gaming is a bit choppy & some minor lag, probably the GPU is on the lower end type, you can test it with Antutu 3D the graphics are choppy.

  • Hey guys am from India and I still didn’t get any Oreo 8.1 update. Did u all get it officially oh downloaded the beta version? Please let me know...

  • I would always advice those MiA1 still running on Nougat 7.1 .2 not to update to Oreo 8.0 or 8.1 My nightmares began once o update to Oreo 8.0, the GPS & Network start giving lot's of issue. Latest Oreo 8.1 cause my mobile data cut off frequently, I took out the Sim & put it into another phone & the data instantly connect & no cut off, then I swap it back into MiA1 again the data keep cut off. (this is in the middle of the capital city where Signal is very strong).

  • same is the case with me, i am unable to make outgoing calls while my mobile data is running esp 4g. This is really very disappointing for me because i had heard plenty of good words for this model. my phone was already updated on Oreo and it began problems while using 4g.

  • hey guys. i am quite a heavy user playin games like pubg. and also a photography enthusiastic .. like to take photos of scenery and portrait mode.. my question is is this phone is the best for my usage. or there are other phones priced almost the same as this like redmi 5 plus.. or else?

  • in my country the difference between J7 pro & MiA1 is 20 euro, We have a better model J7 plus selling 40 euro more than MiA1, so the price differences are marginal.

  • If you need to take a picture, buy it on your J7 Pro, if you need it for a simple use, , do not take a lot of pictures, buy xiaomi mi a1 (Samsung cost more because it's samsung, difference of 80 euros )

  • Bought this phone 2 days ago. For its price the phone runs very fast. But dont expect the gps to be as good as that on samsung devices because its not. Battery life isn't great either. The fingerprint sensor is pretty good though.

  • J7+ win it all, Awesome dual lense camera, i have both MiA1 & J7+, i can conclude it. Often i need to take photo under low light & artificial light conditions. The price is quite close.

  • But the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro processor is weaker, I have less RAM, it costs more than xiaomi, the camera is not so tragic xiaomi mi a1. I've picked xiaomi mi a1 among these phones.

  • Done that, not much different, i am expecting Samsung J series quality at least, to my disappointment even J5 pro take better photo than MiA1 with Gcam.

  • Try it out yourself, you should know not everything on internet is real, i try it out my self, MiA1 camera still bad after with Gcam, marginal improve on low light photo but overall still bad even compare with Samsung J5 Pro which is about the same pricing. One can't improve a F2.2 & F2.6 aperture lense no matter which camera apps use, it can never compare with F1.9 & F1.7 aperture.

  • What? I read a lot of forum and wrote that quality with gcam really improved in low light, in youtube after that video comments write the same.

  • My Mi A1 has good captured image at low light when using Gcam. Maybe you must re-setup your Gcam setting

  • tried Gcam, low light photo still very bad, problem are with the F2.2 & F2.6 aperture, Xiaomi should supply F2.0 & F1.7 instead. Lousy camera can't be solve by different camera apps. Worst still MiA1 doesn't activate flash even in dark situation, unless extreme dark area, this is why most of the low light photo end up disaster.

  • Stock camera gives more light in daylight but gcam is great in low light.

  • Everything looks darker with google apk, mi a1 camra photos look more realistic.

  • Better Xiaomi mi a1 if you install gcam. Gcam has EIS and takes better photo's in low light than Xiaomi mi a1 stock camera, take a look .

  • Avoid MiA1 if you want a business phone, Get a proper phone like Samsung J7 prime, A6+ or J8 instead, if budget permitted get at least a S8, iPhone would better but way too overpriced.

  • To be homest, GPS isn't as good as it could be. Sometimes it's having problems locating.

  • Why don't you buy a Redmi Note 5 (aka Redmi Note 5 pro in India) ? instead of buying a 2016 Redmi Note 4 MiA1 camera I would rate as Back 6/10, very bad low light photo, Buy a Samsung if you want a good camera, even J5 pro or J7 pro is much better than MiA1.

  • Back: 7 Front: 4

  • Hi. Can you please rate its camera front and back out of 10? I'm just confuse between redmi note 4 (4 gb ram, 64gb rom) and Mi A1 (4gb, 64gb).

  • Really enjoyed my Mi A1... until I found that I can't make conference call with it... After making call with A, choose Add Call, call B, and Merge Call... then suddenly the call ended. Tried to use the SIM Card with other phone, I can make conference call. So the problem is in this Mi A1. Anyone have same problem?

  • For me battery improved, charging and drain, like my mi a1, the best.

  • Seem like Xiaomi has block user from giving negative comments on the Oreo 8.1 update.

  • Battery drain faster after Oreo 8.1 update.

  • I mean not made in India(https://imgur.com/a/sjUZwy5) I mean made in Indonezia (https://imgur.com/a/OuADZtS). Is there any difference global version and made in Indonesia?

  • Previously there is Made In India version, Quality not as good as those made in China, I would certainly avoid initial batch.

  • Is there any difference between made in China or made in Indonesia?

  • Use SMS Backup+ app and you can restore anytime from your email account, works for me

  • ...well back up suggestion is understood ...but then what is the method of backing-up SMS messages in within the system provided by Xiaomi in Mi A1... .please inform.

  • The issue here is Xiaomi did not do a proper testing before releasing the update to customer, there just wait for complain from customer then pull back the update, this is not their first blunder, same thing happened when there update from Nougat 7.1 2 to Oreo 8 0 in last day of 2017, then there pull back the update, No appologies to customer at all, now there repeat the same things.

  • usually before you are installing the update. its pretty mandatory that you backup your stuff first before started to install update. thats what im doing either. regardless of using xiaomi device or not

  • With Oreo update, Xiaomi messed up mi A1. With every update came tons of bugs. Rather solving earlier bugs, they just added other bugs. If you can stay with bugs then shut your mouth & keep mum. I have purchased mi A1 with my hard earned money & they have not given it to me free. I have all rights to demand services from Xiaomi. Hopefully you are not an employee of Xiaomi & defending them.

  • Xiaomi is only interested in sales but not service part with software. Till nougat mi a1 was fine. The day they gave Oreo, the problem started with bugs. The bugs are endless. They are not serious with android go program only interested in miui. I'm done with this Xiaomi shits. No more cheap Chinese shits. All are same side of coin...if you try to raise your complaint in MI forum then they will block you....

  • The Oreo 8.1 pdate been pull back by Xiaomi.

  • This also happened in other country, Malaysian customer suffer same fate, many loss their SMS after the update as well.

  • Nokia 7 plus

  • It seems Xiaomi is treating the Xiaomi phones used by Indians as Guinea Pigs. Loss of SMS is immense.

  • When i pause downloading last update it lost

  • Then buy Samsung S19 Plus

  • I want to take a new phone, which one is best? Which one is better to choose? I want good battery life, no hanging, no heating

  • lmao even with the most expensive phone in the market, not having these kind of common knowledge to backup when updating the phone, you will still complain shit anytime soon.

  • The volume up button is not working sometimes since past 2 months(it's works most of the time). Have you guys experience such issue? What do you think; is it the software's or hardware's problem?

  • My sms did not wipe.

  • Worst 8.1 update. Just pushed update without proper checking. Lost all my sms. I'm done with Xiaomi. Getting rid off this phone. Better to move to a branded Nokia/Sony/Samsung rather than sticking to this Chinese shits.

  • Yes ! The Oreo 8.1 update been pulled back, those who have the notification please don't update as potential SMS get wiped out & may not be recover permanently.

  • Will a SIM card from any active phone work once inserted in a smart watch?

  • Xiaomi pulled up the Update of 8.1 after two days .I decided to skip the update till another but today I checked again and the update is vanished .Did anyone checked ?

  • My MiA1 battery life worsen, Usually i have 40% residue battery life by end of the day, now i noticed only 28%, same usage pattern, done factory reset, monitored for 2 days, similar result, i too noticed SOT reduced by 30 minutes. Only lucky things i said is my SMS didn't get wiped out, but many have such issue i my country. Another one of Xiaomi flops case, update without proper testing, just wait for customer to complain. Someone should sue Xiaomi for SMS wiped out if it cause monetary losses due to it.

  • Yes battery life improved and charging noticeably better, mi a1 is the best.

  • After factory reset my Jio sim is working fine

  • Agree with all comments the improved battery charging and depletion during use is better.

  • battery life improved after update..but my old messages got wiped out

  • With this worst update of 8.1 all my SMS messages got wiped out. Nonsense XIAOMI. Please do not update your Mi A1 mobile to 8.1

  • Yes battery charging improvement.

  • My SMS didn't get wipeout, but battery life get worse, i try back-up & factory reset, same result, battery drain faster than when its on Oreo 8.0 Oreo 8.0 take 4 months to get rid of bugs, i hope Oreo 8 1 can solve it faster. Totally disappointed with Xiaomi.

  • Everything is working fine. No bugs in 8.1, no sms wipeout. Noticable improvement in battery life.

  • Mine is working my 1st sim is airtel and 2nd is jio both are working fine even Volte is fine no call drops nothing

  • Not happened anything with me all things are working fine not even any of my text are deleted don't know how it happened with all of you i am just disappointed that Xiaomi took so long to provide the update.

  • One thing can't understand, if Mi A is said to android one phone, these kind of buggy update should not be released. It's a matter of trust on Android one devices introduced by Google.

  • Gone all old sms

  • Useless and worst update. Got my all sms and Jio network is not working. Only Airtel is working in either of sim slot. This is my third Mi phone, this is the final one and never ever will going to buy any Mi phone.

  • Eberyone5is getting 8.1.0 update how come you get 8.1 .1 update ?

  • After 8.1.0 update volte is not working. My jio sim is not working. Please be careful.

  • Shame the kernel is still stuck on 3.18 which is fast becoming unsupported.

  • Well done Xiaomi.

  • After updating to 8.1 I can no longer use dual sim. Only one sim is working at a time. Anyone else facing the issue?

  • Will wait a week or 2 before updating it to Oreo 8.1, had my lesson during Oreo 8.0 update, it been hell for 4 months, as tons of bugs come with the update.

  • Guys plz be careful while updating 8.1 update, all old SMS have been wiped out automatically, plz take good back up of old SMS before installing 8.1 update , you have been warned :(

  • Xiaomi Mi A1 getting Android 8.1.0

  • Just got june security patch with size of 1157mb....update version is 8.1.0

  • yes

  • June update 1157.5 MB now seeding.

  • Often i need to on my Waze outside my car to lock to GPS then only i secured my phone to the holder at my windscreen, if i on Waze inside my car it will take 5 minutes for the GPS to lock to current coordination. I have no issue with Samsung phone which i also carry daily, so it shouldn't be the window tinting issue. This happend since 31st Dec 2017 Oreo update.

  • Stayed put in Nougat 7.1.2 Oreo 8.0.0 brings many issue, GPS locking was lightning fast in Nougat, Then i went turtle slow in Oreo, after few updates in 6 months, the GPs still slower than when it's on Nougat.

  • use fingerprint sensor then

  • True about the issues, I have locked mine to Android 7.1.2. I guess the frustration is too much especially on the update progress (too slow for an android one labelled phone) and that newer updates bring more issues than fixes

  • try reboot your phone.

  • Is anybody else's fingerprint sensor not working properly?

  • I think he mean 8 months, which make sense Oct 2017 till June 2018. But this issue he mentioned is valid though as I too has Weak Signal especially when using Waze inside my car, the back camera is hopeless in low light condition, update is quite slow compare to Nokia.

  • 18 months?? What calendar are you using? September 2017 to June 2018

  • No 8.1, no 9, no project treble, 18 months since phones launch so probably this phone will shortly be abandoned for security update care. Completely disappointing.

  • Is it almost 18 months since this phones launch, that means no more updates and as it already had a major is update from Android 7 to Android 8, and there will also be no more os major updates to 8.1 or 9, quite disappointing this phone overall, oh and project treble on this phone may never be implemented.

  • It's the wrong way around, crap cameras, everything else is so so.

  • Nearly the end of June 2018 and no security updates, what is going on with this phone.

  • excellent camera.............rest everything is crap

  • Ok i m just stay with original nougat 7.1.2 rom..thanks bro for the advice:)

  • Seems true... ..as I am still wondering how come a shop store is having a stock of 6-7 boxes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro when this is in scarcity on Mi.com store or on Flipkart. And is selling at the standard rates ....how come ??

  • I do agree with you. These are not the negative comments. These are the bug of the mobile and informed by the user. We MI user wants immediate update to solve this issues. My request to MI to declare the issues they are going to solve and the issues cannot be solved.

  • There is a 32GB version of MIA1 actually, both 64GB & 32GB is available in my country, though 64GB is more popular as the price gap small

  • Xiaomi should open for negative comments to make improvements in there future products, not sweeping all negative comments under the carpet & ask customers to sell off there phone & buy another make. Why are you so paranoid on negative comments on MiA1 ? not that with good comment only your phone able to fetch a profit when you sell it in future..lol Those comments are quite true, weak signal, weak GPS, bad low light photos from back camera, lack of widget to activate FM Radio, Xiaomi should work on this issue if there intend to captures bigger market. NlOld Nokia management is ignoring complaints from tththeir customer, there end up from Best Seller to closed down for good, luckily the revived Nokia HMD is taking an open approach by making what customer wants.

  • Are you mad? If you are so fed up with your Mi A1 then why dont you just sell it instead wasting your time posting -ve comments for no reasons.

  • Beware that there are fake Mi A1 in the market. I have never heard of 3/32GB Mi A1 but this is what you will find in some of the stores. People are bringing fake product by branding them Xiaomi because Xiaomi has made name in the telephony sector. So please mind what you buy, also make research as to know the feature of the phone before buying any phone.

  • There is no Oreo 8.1 update for MiA1 as at now, current firmware are based on Oreo 8.0 (which is jokes for Android One phone, Even Nokia has Oreo 8.1 update). Just keep your phone in Nougat as long as you can, Since Oreo update on 31st December 2017, there is no stable update, each update solve 1 issue & bring along a few new issues, i think I have received 8 updates since Oreo update, yet the phone perform worse than when it's on Nougat. Xiaomi definitely made blunder with MiA1, I can forsee Xiaomi will abandoned MiA1 quietly when MiA2 & MiA2 lite goes into the market next month, just like how there quietly abandoned Mi4i which is another one of Xiaomi failed project.

  • I buy this device original set yesterday and i got patch security update december notifications pop up at my status bar...i saw so many complain after android oreo 8.1...i m just stay in nouget 7.1.2 good for gaming, browsing and other social apps..i m feel lot an happy for playing games in this mi a1 i m just waiting for stable update coming soon:)

  • Do let me know if you find any fix for it broda TIA

  • When one or few complain you mark them as haters, but when many complain all over the world, there is serious issue, I bought this phone October 2017, it has been 8 months, initially the phone work fine with Nougat, ever since Oreo update it bring many issues. Weak signal, Slow GPS, apps auto shut down, random reboot. The main camera almost useless in low light condition, photo are grain & noisy, I wonder why Xiaomi actually put in a FM Radio when there is no widget to activate it. The update is also slow compare to Nokia, which make me wonder how on Earth it considered as Android One phone.

  • Haters are gonna hate no matter what I have this phone for 6 months and no problem with it I agree the camera is not great In low light but keep in mind the price but to say that this is crappy is to much since I have no problem with GPS,network and so on.

  • Sounds like you have not bought a new phone for 5 years, No wonder you happy with MiA1 .. louz.. MiA1 is crappy & full of problems, the network is weak & the GPS is inaccurate, Camera are disaster, many apps crash, (yes normal apps like Whatsapps, Opera Mini, WeChat,) Each update bring new problem to the phone

  • How to send manuly downloaded apk file to other phone via bluetooth?

  • Look at the build number N2G47H.X.XX.X for Android Nougat and OPR1.170623.026.X.X.X for Oreo, the X's represent the versions

  • Correct rom means??

  • I'm a disappointed, phone with annoying little bugs. I expect more from android one. Otherwise cheap phone for only 125€ in ali :)

  • Follow the instructions from this website--> Download the correct 7.1.2 or 8.0.0 Rom and follow other instructions from there. No root required.

  • How to downgrade?

  • Downgraded the phone to Android 7.1.2, disabled system updates and happily now enjoying using it without having to worry about the bugs introduced by recent updates, especially the 2nd May 'Security' update. Good battery, Great audio! Having the latest update is not always the best

  • Have this phone since 1 month. Good feel and stlish. Fast and battery last really much. Google very invasive.. Only remark camera not so good especially low light . My old 8mpix Samsung note2 got better picts.. price very very good however..

  • Redmi Note 5 got better spec than A1 but A1 got better camera than Redmi Note 5

  • for better spec, prefer A1

  • Xiaomi mi a1 or Xiaomi redmi note 5 AI Dual Camera ? In Xiaomi mi a1 I don't like hardvare keys. In Xiaomi redmi note 5 AI Dual Camera I don't like there is no micro usb type c.

  • Thats bad luck i guess, i also have two more friends (IRL) with this phone. One bought it 6+/- months ago like me and the other one bought it a few months later and everyone is happy with it. Sometimes the best way to avoid this problems its to buy the product in a good store with a good return policy. (ex. amazons in EU have great return policies, 30 days)

  • Battery drained only 4% used during whole night

  • inconsistent quality issue, some unit are OK some have problem. i am among the unlucky one, Service Centre refuse to replace my defects unit as there claim is software problem & not hardware problems as me to sent complaint thru customer feedback apps to Xiaomi & wait for future updates.

  • i have the exact same issue like you.

  • i too has the same issues like this fellow, I have done 3 times factory reset, problem persist, i too sent the phone to Official Xiaomi Service Centre in my country there too says there can't do anything as there is no defect, there ask me to wait for future update too see problems can be solve, this is since November 2017, i have no less than 6 updates & problem still there, luckily this is my 2nd phone, so i can do most of the important things using my main Samsung phone.

  • Dont know what are you talking about, been using this phone for more than 6 months now and its great. My previous phone was a nexus 5, so i would be greatly disapointed with anything less. - No bugs what so ever. - No problems with GPS or any other hardware. - Definitely no battery drain, in fact the batery life its what im surprised the most, its really good. - The only worse thing i can point out its the camera, despite being dual camera and wtv, the night shots are a bit more poor than my old nexus, but the day shots are good. But i already knew that from the reviews and i dont really care at all. You probably have a faulty phone, or you need factory reset on your OS.

  • Finally 8.1 update likely with June security patch later this month. Please include FM radio app Xiaomi if you are reading this.

  • I am using since 4 months and it was really nice. But since one month network is disconnecting. Hope it will be solved in next update.

  • Yes totally agree dude It reboots during voice calls It can't map the GPS coordinates accurately Image quality in low light photos are bad Network disconnects occasionally The OS in android one model of the phone is buggy. Oh the irony...

  • No it doesn't, if there is fast charging it will charged up to 0-75% in 30 minutes, but MiA1 took more than 1 hour to reach 75%

  • It has.

  • Right, no fast charging.
