I wish for them to give us Android Pie or Android 10 ! This is basically the only Mi Max in the series that never got any Android updates, not even security updates! All of this REALLY made me consider to move to realme or something else next time. Samsung doesn't seem to be a bad choice to be honest.

I'm using this phone since August 2017. It's a great phone for daily usage, social media and watching videos. Battery is great, there's a time that I only used it for call, text, and facebook (wi-fi) it lasted for 3 days in 25% brightness. No issue ever since. I'll continue using this phone until next year.

This is really a damn good phone. I have been using it for more than 2 years and it still working perfectly fine. The battery is still good, as I am very rare to recharge or use powerbank in the mid of the day. I always recharge every night until wake up in the morning. Few things that are not very positive is the body is heavy and backside is slippery, so I must use soft case to have better grip.

I first got this phone in sep,2017 and have been using it for about two years. The device is powerful. I've always played with different ROMs to get the latest possible software. After an year, I accidentally broke the glass on the front by dropping it. I got it fixed by replacing the whole display module for about 5000 INR in oct,2018. The warrant they provided was for 3 months from replacement. That's right only 3 months. It worked fine after for a couple months and then in jun,2019 the battery bulged pushing the screen to the front. I could see the backlight beneath the screen from the edges. Then I had to replace the battery for 1500 INR. It felt relaxing to have the huge battery backup again. Few days later the screen went wild with 'ghost touches'. It's where the touch screen registers touches without you having to touch anything. This was a bummer. I let the phone alone for couple days in denial of spending more on it. The ghost touches disappeared but the touch on the bottom of the screen stopped working. This is when I took it to the service centre where the technician didn't even open the device to check it up but rather suggested to change the whole display unit for another 5000 INR. I don't want to spend anymore on this device. One thing I realised that Xiaomi phones are not really for the long run. They tend to break after one year but careful use may last the device for 2 years max. I plan on getting a new phone now. I'm considering choices between Realme X, Then I'm considering again for durability than performance so I'm thinking about Samsung M40 with SD chipset but then again only issue is the display which is not AMOLED on M40.

ßest phone in 15k it's been 2 years I'm using this device as my primary phone no issues no problem I have faced. The only problem of Xiaomi phones are they didn't provide software update in time and they don't give fast charger with every phone.

I have had this device from November 2017 till now July 2019, came with Miui 8, now on 10.3. I can see a lot of new MI phones been made and I want to stay on Xiaomi, they are the only phone company apart from Nokia in the Symbian era who have kept me intrigued with their UI, which is very good and easy to use. I want to move for an upgrade to a newer device I fancy the Redmi K20 Pro but I can't make up my mind because I am a user who uses my phone to type everyday since my first MI phone in 2015 which was the Redmi Note 2 Prime. So, can someone kindly tell me if I will be able to manage the K20 Pro having a smaller screen than the Max 2. I would really appreciate the advice.

Everything very good exept the display's oleophobic coating wears out fast then grease and fingerprints are your nightmare. Also the bottom speaker started to make noise after a year and a half or so of owning it . Probably because they made it a bit too bassy

honest review for you, i have a mi max 2, brought it last may 2018. well battery life is great. i mean 9 hours straight playing Pubg mobile. isn't that great? charging it would spend u 1 and half hour i guess. that's what i only noticed. talking about camera, front camera is not good when low light i mean when its dark. "just when low light". but over all i am satisfied. the back camera is great. I love it, I used it when I travel. Not lagging. its just that the size is big and its heavy however its best for watching movies & playing online games. I love the second space feature, and many more. as of now, I am satisfied with my phone mi max 2. highly recommended.

Battery life is getting worse. miui8 on mi max 2 was absolutely better for battery life. I got 10 hours screen on time by playing rules of survival, when i play on miui9, i get around 4 hours by playing. And miui9 has some bugs. If you are in miui 8, i dont recommend to update to miui 9...

It is a very good phone but the display seems not to have an oleophobic coating, it is a fingerprint magnet , very hard to wipe the fingerprints off, after a year or so my bottom speaker has begun to make noise. And be aware the top speaker is weaker than on other phones, not creating a very balanced L- R audio

Basically we can't do that. But this is possible. You can use two SIM cards and a micro SD card at the same time. You have two options: 1. Use a Hybrid SIM Slot Adapter which is available cheaply at amazon 2. Make your SIM card smaller by removing plastic part of it, then sticking it to back of the sd card. (Not recommended as this will probably damage your SIM card if not done correctly)

I bought a MI MAX 2 early this year and was working perfectly fine, I had a 128 GB memory card installed which I never removed since I had it. Just 2 weeks ago, MI MAX is no longer able to access the files but can see the folders and shows the space used by the files. It's getting really frustrating looking for my files as I can no longer view anything, and can't even plug it in my my computer before to back them up. That sucks!!

EXCELLENT! A phone and a computer rolled into one. The screen is large enough to perform like a laptop when you are on the go. In a hotel, you can use the TV as a monitor. You can even hook up a full-sized keyboard. The point is: you no longer need to carry a laptop with you. And the price is truly amazing for what it can do.

I've had my MiMax2 for several months now and loving it. For the past few weeks I have been getting "Weak Mobile Network Signal Ending Call" as an error whenever I hangup. My max 2 earpiece volume is so loud that I had to turn the volume down as persons near me could easily listen to the voice that I'm hearing. Loudest among all the mobile handsets that I've ever owned. Microphone is very good as well, better than my iphone 6s. What you can try is that while a phone conversation is going on, just press volume-up button to its' max. If this doesn't resolve your issue, your phone must have a defective earpiece.

All your point are on cut cost reason, that make it still usable, but not the loudest among the best. Than, the data thing, it is MIUI itself, where it will kill background running apps not using for long time. To avoid this, simply just lock the apps that you need it to run in background. This can be said as a known issue or simply is user guide issue, you need to manually allow apps to run in the background. Xiaomi intention is to save battery usage with this implementation, however, the side effect are important apps also get stopped and won't receive notification, even not receive internet.

So one thing I noticed with WiFi speed - it's throttled for some reason. My friends and I tried doing a speed test (They have a 70 MB/s Download speed and 10 MB/s Upload, and my Mi Max 2 always read 35 MB/s download (on average) while my friends were able to read 68 to 70 MB/s. Anyone else have this issue? or a fix for it?

few issues after using this phone for 1 year , ?upgraded? from mi max 1 1/ very tiny and low earpiece volume , difficult to hear what the other person saying even on max volume - same issue with mi max 1 2/ same goes to the headphone volume , despite watching video using branded headphone on max volume 3/ the notification LED , OMG , com 'on xiaomi !! why only single white color ( so frustrating , why downgrade this xiaomi ) 4/ even when i switched on wifi and mobile data , after leaving the wifi spot , the mobile data will occasionally disconnect , not knowingly that you have missed out so many messages ...unsure whether telco or phone prob...very very frustrating

I have your exact situation, I have the Max 2 that I got to substitute the Galaxy Note 4. The only things I really miss on the Note 4 is the OLED display and the Samsung navigation feel. I never really used the pen, the high resolution display is I believe quite useless on a Smartphone. I got the Max two for some important reasons: 1. active dual SIM for work and private, you can get a dual SIM adapter for the Note 4, but you need to manually switch between SIM. 2. Bigger display that allows me to go around with only on item instead of a 7 inch tablet and two smartphones (Note 3 and Note 4). one could say, there is not much difference between a 7 inch tablet and a Max 2 screen, unfortunately for my eye situation, there is is.

I have just got my Max 2, if it's true that the Max 3 will have a 18/9 ration, a 7 inch means it's simply longer, not wider. In other words in shouldn't be any problem to hold it upright for calling, and it shouldn't have any problem in the pocket. Unless your pockets are not deep enough, too much of the phone could be sticking out and risk falling out.

But if the rumours are true, the 7-inch screen on the new Max3 will not have the same 16:9 ratio as the 6.44-inch screen on the Max2. It'll have the narrower 18:9 ratio. Whether that's good or bad depends on your screen preference. Myself, I prefer the current screen proportions.

Same here ... I have an iPhone 7 Plus for photography... The Max 2 camera isn't good but considering this phone cost just only 200€ it already features really a lot... If this phone was from Samsung it would have a price tag of around 400€+ :p It's the first mid ranger I ever purchased (only had high end smartphones) and still belongs to one of my favourite smartphones I ever used ! Also far better than the Galaxy Note 4!

Awesome phone..... but with some small issues as under : At times there is a lag, probably using too many apps. gets okay when you clear the memory. Another problem I find is the pictures taken by the camera are no longer visible and is totally black when opened with photos or gallery... even when i send them to any whatsapp contact its only black. That was my option too, finally i pick mi max 2. Because i used to 6" screen, so 6,4" wont b a problem. I need a long lasted battery, big screen for game or video and i dont need "phone photography". Quick charge 3.0 can fill this 5300mah battery in less than 3 hours. So if you like photography with ur phone, go for mate 10 lite. It has dual front and dual rear cam. 6,4" screen could be pros for me but maybe a cons for you because its very big. I mean huuge

Every phone or tablet i consider goin to seems week in battery now . ive bought since november 2017 and have used for nearly 6 months. good thing is: 1) Storage is big. i Installed a lot of apps. plus it comes with a cleaner app in it. 2) Since its an android, any apk can be installed 3) love how fast it move. but very rarely hangs. Now the bad ones: 1) while taking photo, be more stable to avoid blurry effects. 2) phone cracks(quite heavily damaged) while dropped, changed to a new screen. cracks again. this is my first phone that cracked so much 3) quite big for my hand and abit tedious if you type the keyboard using your right hand right thumb only.(yes, need both hands to type.) 4) lastly, my phone is now haywiring(typing by itself on whatsapp). the bottom icons cannot be touch-sensored anymore. buying a new phone now. guess im just unlucky. good luck to your new phone of this.

Keep in mind that even though the phone is classified as a "Global" version it won't have any additional LTE bands compared to the Chinese version. It will, instead, come with the Global version of MIUI. I own a Mi Max 2 myself and I use it in Warsaw, Poland and I haven't had an issue with getting LTE everywhere (except my apartment for some reason but I have WiFi calling at home so whatever). Here's what I can tell you about the phone: Call quality is very good. Never had any issues with hearing the other person. Never had a dropped call. The metal body is nice to hold and feels great in the hand but it is incredibly slippery so I would recommend getting a case just to improve your grip on the phone. I am writing this comment on my Mi Max 2 and it is a pleasure to type on since your hands won't get cramped as they would on a smaller phone. The Snapdragon 625 coupled with the 4 GB of RAM will ensure that most of your apps will run smoothly and, for the most part, you won't experience a heavy amount of lag. Do note that if you compare this phone with a phone that has an 800 series Snapdragon chip then you will notice a difference but it's not too bad. My Mi Max 2 has proven to be rather durable as I accidentally dropped it on the sidewalk before I got my case and the screen cracked in a couple of places but everything still works and the screen didn't shatter into a million little pieces. Watching videos on this phone is great since you have a large screen. The one major negative opinion I have regarding this phone is that it doesn't come with NFC so no Google Pay option for this phone. I think if the new Mi Max 3 comes with NFC and the dual camera setup like some renders have shown, then I will definitely upgrade to that model since everything else has been great (except the camera obviously) with the Mi Max 2.

Just got my Mi Max 2. I'm rather happy with it. Some opinions: Pros: - Impressive battery capacity and long battery life (in my usage I can get 2 to 3 days worth of single charge) - Snapdragon 625 isn't the most powerful chip around, but it will be fast enough for most people. It is well optimized, stable, cool and energy-efficient chip. I played PUBG mobile for couple of hours and the device only got little bit warm and that's it. Meanwhile, my Nokia 8 with Snapdragon 835 runs the game noticeably better of course, but gets uncomfortably hot. PUBG runs fine on low settings on Mi Max 2. - USB-C, fast charger, FM radio, Dual-SIM, IR blaster, headphone jack, loud dual speakers - this phone really is locked and loaded and has features that are missing on some expensive flagships of 2018 even. - Big screen is really immersive for gaming and videos/movies. This device replaces the need for an tablet for me. - The device feels surprisingly light and balanced in the hand. One-handed usability is not great, but the device is not unmanageable to use (requires some finger gymnastics to use one-handed, but so does my 5,3" Nokia 8 - surprisingly Mi Max 2 isn't that much more difficult to use compared to the smaller Nokia 8 which isn't really one-hander either. I'd rather have the biggest screeb possible if all the devices on the market are hard to use with one hand anyway). - Built-quality seems sturdy. No rattling, bending or creaking anywhere. Cons: - Something like Snapdragon 636 would have given the device a bit more oomph in the performance department, but it is what it is. Snapdragon 625 is good enough for everything except heavy emulation (Dolphin, PPSSPP) and intensive 3D gaming on high settings) - Camera could be better. The hardware is there, but the software is no good and you need to unlock bootloader if you want Gcam mod because Xiaomi has disabled camera2api in MIUI. - The size. It's easy enough to use and the benefits of large screen are numerous, but carrying this device is another issue entirely. Having this thing in your pocket feels pretty ridiculous (but not as ridiculous as Oukitel K10000 :D). - Missing LTE bands for europeans even on the "Global" variant, namely B20 and B28. This is not a huge issue for me (otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the device in the first place) but be careful - check the bands that are used in your area if you are interested in Mi Max 2. - MIUI is kind of hit and miss. I don't really dislike it, but there are few annoying quirks like the notification system and not being able to disable unused Google apps e.g Duo. MIUI 9.5 is set to improve the notification system and hopefully Mi Max 2 will eventually get Oreo as well. It was released with Nougat, so it would make sense to get one Android upgrade at least, just like Mi Max 1 did.

Seems to be a tall order. 16:9 is in the process of becoming antiquated, sadly. Your best bet, as I see it, is to give up on at least one of your criteria; then you'll be able to find something. The phone is very good, played these games: War of rings, MU online, ML, and a bunch more, even installed NBA2017 just to check how it handles it, very good. The drawback is, the camera, very nice @ daylight, pretty bad @ night time ( both front and back), my Asus zenphone max camera is even better, but cant complaint in relation to the price of the phone. Im a gamer not a camera man, so happy with it, tested device using phone as a hotspot with 2 device connected and playing online games on the phone, it lasted a good 5hrs solid, Bluetooth on, connected to a subwoofer, playing music non stop, hotspot on, with 2 device connected, using mobile data @ 4g LTE, and playing ML ( mobile legends for 5hrs and 10 minutes, until it says 19% battery ( max settings for brightness by the way) that's a very good battery.

I've been using Mi Max 2 for over 6 months now. Frankly I think that the phone is very good. It suit me well. I like to play online games like Rival Kingdoms, Mobile Legend and Final Fantasy The Awakening, this phone handled all these games very nicely no lagging. I also like to surf internet, Facebook and WhatsApp. One more thing is that I can play all day without the worry of my battery life went out. In Mi Max 2 this option of swapping buttons is not there. Previously I had Mi Max & I know that there is this option of swapping buttons... Also in Mi Max there is multicolor notification light. But in Mi Max 2 there is only single color notification light. In these two aspects & processor (Snapdragon 650 as against 625 of Mi Max 2), Mi Max is superior than Mi Max 2... But there are few features in Mi Max 2 which are superior than Mi Max.

Just a crucial follow-up. There is a lack of non-MIUI-based custom ROMS. Around 2.2 GB of RAM is always being used; how much of this can be directly attributed to MIUI 9 I don't know until I flash an AOSP-based ROM. Also, this phone easily handles games I've tried, right up to FPS games, whereas my Galaxy S4 would heat up so much from Plague Inc.

Now for the review. It's been with me for about a fortnight as of now. This phone's biggest selling points for me were the screen size and the massive battery. I went out looking for a phablet and a phablet I got. Upgrading from the Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9505) to this was a rather smooth transition. The biggest obstacles in this case was the size of the screen, which was quick to get used to (and now I take it for granted, more on that later) and the stock ROM (a bit buggy and bloated) , which will be replaced in due time. In the meantime, I'm sticking with Nova Launcher. The device heats up while charging. Just remember, if you want a phablet thinking it'll be a two-in-one phone and tablet, I think it'll only work if you're used to small tablets. All in all, great phone for its price. I'd highly recommend it. Only downside is the lack of stable custom ROMs at this time.

Check out Resurrection Remix ROMs. Look out for "oxygen" releases and educate yourself on how to flash a custom ROM. Read up on XDA forums to avoid pitfalls, as a source of info, etc. It's not the first time I got a phone with bloatware and I've dealt with it by.. Flashing a custom ROM. Great phone for the price, of course it can not rival the best flagships, but i think for every day use it is veru very good, amazing battery life, good camera, great screen, good loudspeakers, fingerprint sensor ir fast and very rarely misses, as stated before, screen could be a little bit brighter but nothing serious... Even MIUI is not a problem with a couple of modifications (fan of costumizable stock looking roms like cyanogenmod/Lianage os). Have received 3 updates, one of which added split screen ( finally). Build quality seems good, no issues to report so far. GPS works great. Performance also seems to keep well, no slowdowns or crashes (except with some apps, later the problem was solved with app update via play store, so not the phones problem IMO..). Only annoying thing I found so far is that sometimes noise cancellation when recording video ruins the sound (for example when car engine is running) and it ends up like sound is recorded under water and it can not be turned off... Also if you plan to put a screen protector on this phone, don't buy tempered glass one, it will have white frame where adhesive is not in contact with phones glass because of 2.5d panel, buy a xiaomi plastic one or dig around ebay listings to find a plastic one! I got used to big screen and size of device quite fast, after a couple of weeks of using this phone every other standart (5 inch or 5.5) smartphone seems... A bit small and cramped.. With a flip case on the phone, by changing a bit the way i hold a device ( noticed myself doing it lately) i can even text one handedly (i have quite big hands, glove size 11), although I have to admit not as comfortably as on a smaller device. I found that it is a standart case of first size shock as in early smartphone days, when going from 3.5" to 4.5" screen it seems huge at first, but after a while you get used to it and only when you get forced to go back you appreciate the screen real estate! Overall I am extremely happy with what you get for the money, and i think this is a great phone even when you take the low pricetag out of equation.

You will see these THREE APPS that even if you clear their data and delete/uninstall them, they come back and re-install when you reboot/restart your phone: 1. Analytics 2. mab 3. msa For me, those three apps are very suspicious. I think Xiaomi knows what you do with your phone through these three apps. The three apps come up with different permissions like: a. 'have full network access' b. 'download files without notification' c. 'reading your contacts' d. 'accessing your precise location (GPS)' e. 'modify or delete the contents of your SD card' f. 'send SMS messages' g. 'takes pictures and videos' h. 'retrive running apps', etc. I think they can invade our privacy without our consent. I have the mi max 2 . the miui 9 update came and i instaled it not knowing what is about to happen.... And then all of a sudden , the option to hold the back button to trigger recent apps is gone. I can barelly use it one handed now because i cannot reach the recent button with my thumb , the phone is absolutelly big, how can i reach it with my thumb.?! I would say, it is pretty useless comment IF YOU NOT SPECIFY what type of game you are playing. There are such crazy demanding games that ALL phones lags substantially at max setting and there are also so badly programmed games that are choppy even on highest rated GPUs. Well, and most of the games just fine even on entry level chipsets. So it depends. It is also important what you are running in background. Some people have 20+ apps actively are doing something in background and they are wounder why even home screen lags ;-) This phone (phablet) is OK for most of the uses, but definitely NOT an ultimate gaming device.

I used to own a device with similar specs like the Adreno 506 and all I can say if are into hard 3D maxed out gaming, you are gonna have a hard time, because such device doesn't do very well at this aspect. If you want to upgrade and have ssome money, you can go buy something with at least Adreno 520,530 or Snapdragon 4x core and you'll notice the huge difference between entry-level and high-end phones.If you don't have much money, you can go for a Samsung Galaxy S6, or S7.They are almost the best in every game and you can play in ultra settings and don't cost a fortune.Also, they are very stable and don't lag almost never.

Guys here I'll not talk of hardware or software as everyone is aware off. I'll talk purely on performance. I have bought this phone 5 days ago. 1stly I'll talk about the weight of the phone. As it is said that it's 211gms; it's quiet heavy to hold as compared to other phones in market. U'll require 2 hands to operate the phone. The display is very good in this range of price. Touch is very smooth & fast. Fingerprint which is at the back is also fast to unlock the phone. The 12 megapixel camera does a very good job. It gives accurate colors but in daylight. I low light camera struggles, but by adjusting manually it too does good in low light. But at night camera fails to capture detailings. Overall camera performance is good. There is no time lag while playing Asphalt 8 game. Phone works very good while opening any apps. But I found browser little slow. When we play youtube videos, there is buffering time. Now talking about battery life; as it says it has 5300mAh, yes it has a jumbo battery. With a good usage of internet & other apps in my phone; battery survived for 2 days with single charge. So friends if you are looking for a bigger screen phone with good battery life; I'll recommend this phone. But if you are looking for a camera phone with bigger screen, then this is not your cup of tea as there are many other phones available in market. AFTER ALL THIS IS A BUGGETED PHABLET PHONE IN MARKET.

Hello again Anonymous! I'm guessing you're living in Malaysia too? To answer your queries: 1) The box housing my Mi Max 2 Gold Edition was in mint condition. I'm not sure if there was a heat-sealed plastic wrap (I bought my Samsung Galaxy Note 1 in its box without any wrappings a long long time ago) The salesperson actually opened the void seal in my presence and let me use the phone with the protective stickers (front screen and rear-camera) still intact. But I guess that's pretty routine right? I meant to say if any dishonest salesperson wants to root the phone, he/she could have made sure the seal isn't "tampered" too obvious for us consumers to take notice. 2) As about the non-functioning apps pre-installed in my Mi Max 2, there's isn't any of such issues like you've described. The only 'big' glitch I've had so far is when using the MiBroswer app. It crashes on certain sites that produce pop-ups for confirmation (just twice). Ultimately, I've followed the opinions on this site and the haters mostly moan about the 'perceived' downgrade of the SnapDragon 625 processor, lesser quality camera and video capabilities. I am pretty much content with my lot as the phone fulfills my basic needs: BIG screen, BIG battery, BIG internal memory storage with DUAL sim/micro-SD hybrid at AFFORDABLE price. I use one in Canada. It's not compatible with lte here, it uses H+ for data. I really like this phone. The large screen (unlike the newer phones like the Note8), is a lot wider than any other, making it much more useful for me. The battery life is outstanding. I use my phone for several hours a day, mostly reading books. No phone currently available with my carrier will last the day without a charge in mid afternoon in my experience. My note4 with an oversized battery case did the day, usually. This phone? It's late at night here, it's showing 62% still. Plus, it's a fast charger. Data speeds are excellent for my needs, have no complaints there. The dual sim is excellent, I switch between my Canadian one and american frequently. Huge, easy to read screen for even my old eyes, battery that lasts forever, and it's cheap. I'd buy it again.

Hey Android821, may I ask what MIUI version are you using currently? Mine says 'MIUI Global 9.0 / Stable 9.0.2.0(NDDMIEI)' You can check yours under "Settings -> About phone". Also at the same page, scroll down until you see an 'Update' button to click on. Then it should bring you to the MIUI update page. Please make sure you have a cellular data plan / WiFi activated before doing so!

Yes, when I got my Mi Max 2 it already comes with Google Playstore app inside. Had to fiddle with the Mandarin language though (just for the set up bit) Cheers!

its a common issue from xiaomi .. because of the second microphone...that one for the active noise cancellation...or try to cover it while you filming...or you have to root your phone and after to delete some files...have a look at some clips on youtube...

Hi, I've been using Mi Max 2 mainly as a portable music player for 3.5 weeks. So far, I haven't had any issues with the muted or no sounds. Questions I'd like to ask: 1) Is the 3.5mm jackport clean? I meant to say sometimes fluff or small objects may enter and obstruct the connections. I've had that issue with my previous phones. Just tease them out (carefully, mind you!) with a tweezer or vacuum. 2) Is your headphones or earphones working? The cable can be loosened (aged) especially when you remove them too frequency. I would usually twist them out of the jackport instead of pulling out directly. (Don't know if this helps) 3) This might be silly, but is the phone on Silent or DND mode? Mine usually isn't, so I can't be sure if that affects music/video playback. Try to toggle them on and off or play around with the volumes setting. Otherwise, you could always return to your phone dealer for a quick check-up. I'm sure your recently bought Mi Max 2 comes with a year-round warranty. -Mi Max 2 128GB, Gold Ed. user-

I am using Mi Max 2 for 5 weeks and everything is working perfectly, however I am facing a really annoying issue: when recording video with the camera app the sounds it is just terrible. it sounds like recording under the water or like somebody it is covering the mic. Seriously, terrible. I have tried several camera app but the sound keeps as ugly as usually. Despite of that, using the official sound recording app I got the same ugly sound. Then I used again the Sound / Microphone recording up with my headset (which has integrated Mic) and I found out it's sound really clear and the issue disappear. Is it a hardware issue? Is it a software issue? any solution? Please help!!!

Hi, the LED indicator is only available in white. (Weird, I know) When you charge Mi Max 2, the LED lights up continuously. When the battery is fully charged (100%), the white light turns off. Then you know it's fully charged (without turning on the phone) and unplug safely. You have the option to turn this off, though I can't fathom why should you do that. Exclusive Service Centre ( Radiant E Serve) Ravi Shankar Kolluru in the last week I have bought mi max 2 in Sep 17.. November 17 now and the screen stopped working all of a sudden.. came to the service centre in velachery, the token system and all is fine but they say that the warranty will not hold good if there is liquid inside.. I asked them what about sweat? Sweat can accumulate when we use the phone irrespective.. if there is another way of using the mobile without sweat getting near the speaker then that is one thing but in this case that cannot be qualified as a reason not to give warranty.. hv to see what they are going to say.. they r apparently opening the phone as I type.. ridiculous people they come bk n say that thr is water inside.. and the phone does not categorize under warranty.. I am using Mi Max for the last one and half month. It was working good then all of a sudden it started rebooting again and again with no time to back up the data. When I approached xiaomi service center, after testing they are telling that mother board is gone and have wait for up to a week for changing that. When I asked why did it happen, their reply is it may occur often, and that's why we are giving warranty. The service center is also not good. After receiving the phone without giving service order receipt they asked to come after phone intimation. Only after insisting the receipt they gave it. After few hrs they called to bring the data cable as they don't have this type of phone. How could a service center doesn't have the data cable for phone model launched 5 months back. I was using yureka for two and half years with little bit freezing and heating problem. It didn't create this much problem. And now to go back to yureka I m very much disappointed with xiaomi

Negative aspect of Mi Max 2: 1) lower performance than old Mi Max 1 but still good for its class. 2) Really big (screen) size. It is its best feature and also worst weakness. 3) Mediocre camera performance, common weakness of all Xiaomi phones. 4) problematic USB Type-C port : incompatibility with many USB devices. 5) SD memory card slot: no exFAT support. only 32GB or less.

Then in September, I asked Xiaomi to please make a batch of BLACK Mi Max 2, but with 128 GB memory. After discarding unsafe Smart Cover costing Rs. 699 from Mi.com online store, I bought these two cheaper covers. 1. Back case cover from Amazon: "Plus Carbon Fiber Brushed Texture Shockproof Back Case Cover For Xiaomi Mi Max 2 - Black". for Rs. 299. 2. Flip cover from Flipkart: "SpectraDeal Flip cover for Mi Max 2 (Black, Artificial Leather)" Rs. 288. Both are fitting well and serve the purpose. When compared to the price, the quality and looks are not so bad. The first cover (back case) has good rating and the Flip case cover has adverse rating. Mi.com's Smart cover's high rating cannot be trusted as they hide the negative ratings or reviews. There are other products, but I don't know how they are.

The adhesive tape used for attaching the phone to the cover was not strong and the phone would fall off from the flip cover, defeating the very purpose of buying a protective cover. I suspect you have a fake/vendor rom if you bought it from Aliexpress, other chinese online shop or someone who bought it from there. Check miui version in "about phone" if it's 5 and not 4 digits, it's fake.

IMPORTANT Anyone who uses Xiaomi Mi Max 2, please go to 'Settings', then 'Installed Apps'. Click on the 'Downloaded' tab. You will see these THREE APPS that even if you clear their data and delete/uninstall them, they come back and re-install automatically when you reboot/restart your phone: 1. Analytics 2. mab 3. msa For me, those three apps are very suspicious. I think Xiaomi knows what you do with your phone through these three apps. The three apps come up with different permissions like: a. 'have full network access' b. 'download files without notification' c. 'reading your contacts' d. 'accessing your precise location (GPS)' e. 'modify or delete the contents of your SD card' f. 'send SMS messages' g. 'takes pictures and videos' h. 'retrive running apps', etc. I think they can invade our privacy without our consent. Assuming this is Airtel India, and from my quick research, H+ is a hybrid 3G, not true 4G, some people call it 3.5G, meaning you will not get 4G speeds, but possibly close. It depends on where you live, but the Mi Max 2 is fully compatible with Airtel' 4G LTE, bands 3 and 40. I recommend making sure the preferred network type in the settings is set to 4G. You may want to call Airtel and ask how an H+ connect compares to their 4G LTE connection and whether 4G LTE is available for your area.

This is very normal, and not an issue with your phone. Open the camera app and try tapping on the camera area and you will no longer hear a rattle. The rattle is relating to the autofocus mechanism of the camera. As long as your camera focus and autofocus is functioning, there is nothing to worry about.

Hello dervin chua This is NOT at all true. MIUI 9 is based off of Android Nougat, which is Android 7.X. As of now, only stock Android devices (such as Google Pixel) can update to Oreo 8.X. MIUI 9 is available currently as a beta build to qualified Xiaomi devices, including the Mi Max 2. MIUI 9 is expected to be released soon, meaning you can update to MIUI 9 Stable, which is the most stable and bug-free build type.

Yes, the Mi Max 2 does indeed support USB OTG. Browsing through the Mi forum, people have also ask similar questions and owners reported OTG working with few issues. Yes, I tried the 3 finger screen capture and it does work. There is also a screenshot button in the notification panel. Also holding volume down and pressing the menu key also immediately takes a screen shot. As of today, MIUI 9 is expected to be released as stable soon, and will even further the battery life. Hopes this helps!

To be very picky - the screen could be a bit brighter, expecially when it is sunny outside, camera could be better in low light, no nfc, and I am not a fan of MIUI,but big screen is great, amazing battery life (3 days with low to moderate use),good camera, great build quality, and in the end MIUI is not as annoying as I first imagined.. Hi Manesh No, I have not experienced this problem on my Xiaomi Mi Max 2. For your 4G connection issue, you could try changing the preferred network type, but I am guessing that is already set to global as the data is working. For the WIFI connection issues, you may want to try setting your phone to use either 2.4ghz or 5ghz WIFI frequency in the WIFI settings. This has helped on my other Xiaomi device that had WIFI issues such as yours. By pressing buttons itself, do you mean the screen tapping things without you doing it? I have solved that issue before on another phone by wiping my screen off (with the phone and screen on) with a wet lens cloth or paper towel. If this does not solve it, I would go to the Settings, Storage, click Cached data. It will ask to clear cached data for all apps, which are basically unneeded temporary files, you will not loose any data. Click OK, then reboot your phone. I hope this solves your issues! I know a method that will most certainly solve this problem but trying this first is easier.

Hello Sandy, just saw your reply now. I do think it is comfortable to use one handed, but depending on hand size, you may not be able to tap everywhere on the screen just using your thumb (of the hand holding it). Yes, it is a very big and wide phone, but with that comes a giant battery and excellent battery life, while still remaining very thin. This phone does offer a One-handed Operation Mode, which, if needed, makes using the screen easier with either hand.

I too felt that the phone often keep on disconnection the wifi and the 4G connection, even in areas, where the wifi or 4G is stable. Another problem I experiened with the phone is that often, the phone goes crazy, it looks like i starts pressing the button by itself, opening or changing screens, with out me touching it. I own this phone and it is absolutely amazing; the phone itself is like a power bank but in a smartphone! It runs smoother than my S7 Edge. The front camera and back camera are not as good as my S7 Edge, but it is not fair to compare due to the price differences. For the price, the Mi Max 2 is beyond excellent, considering how smooth and efficient MIUI is. If you buy the Mi Max 2, make sure to install the official Global Rom, which has Google Play Services included. Otherwise, you must manually install Google Play Services on the China Rom. My only complaint would be both speakers play audio in portrait, when both speakers are only supposed to play when in landscape. Also, it has not gotten the BlueBorne patch yet, but I expect this to be coming shortly. For any users experiencing problems with their device, send feedback using the "Feedback" app, which will notify Xiaomi and they will try to fix such problems, such as the speaker problem above.

I really happy for you too,this is the way of how the stereo loudspeakers should behave with regardless of portrait or landscape mode,just like the Samsung C9 Pro. Xiaomi said "Intelligently switches between 1 and 2 speaker output for an optimized audio experience." I will say this is a "stupid switching" and unnecessary,because some of the videos can't play on landscape mode,so am i going to get the bottom speaker works only,this will defeat the purpose of having a pair of beautiful stereo sound effect speakers,must well make it to a mono speaker on this device.

I am getting more than 1 day backup with heavy usage if u r normal user u will get 1.5-2 days easily may be more than that, camera is good, sd 625 awesome performer, playing games and watching videos is awesome. It is trying to download tts data for English . if you don't like to let it download via data just go to setting > language setting> text to speech >tts option>setting for tts>Enable "use wifi only" if you don't like to download at all go to setting > language setting> text to speech >tts option>install voice data>tap on English(united kingdom) or English(united states)>tap on the cross sign .

This option is available in record app, no such an option in video app. changing this option will affect only on sound recorder app and no effect on video app and recorded video sound. I tested this and i saw no change on recorded video sound, it is still awful . I tried a new update which said " improvement in recorded video sound quality" as an update fix , but after update there is no improvement ! recorded sound is still awful.

I finally bought Mi Max 2 and got it today. Not really happy with the display! Viewing the same photo side-by-side on Mi Max 2 vs Redmi Note 3, it looks like my Mi Max 2 unit suffers from low color saturation, i.e. especially the reds. Help? Is there a way to increase color saturation? BTW the built-in color and contrast settings do not help with saturation.

Well the Base problem with the note series is that it doesn't come with gorilla glass. Am using my note 3 for eight months. Call quality is superb. Music is fantastic. Battery awesome. No lags no issues except the two I found so far. First is after updates some apps crash in a while, second being no gorilla glass it's susceptible to scratches. My phone got a little bend whist I put it on a chair and some one Sat on it, although I was lucky it wasn't a major bend and display didn't crack. While applying a little press I restored the shape. Thus I would prefer mi max over note series. Hope it helps. Thanks and cheers

I have checked this on my friend's mi max 2 phones too . unfortunately they all have the same issue. it is not related to the rom version. both global and Chinese Rom have this issue. here is another person asked about it : and other xiaomi products have this issue as well . for example check this for Redmi Note 4 : I've heard same complains for Redmi 3S and redmi note 4x . It seems xiaomi does not want to make any decision to solve it , as none of older phones have been updated to address this issue.

xiaomi should in the future care more about audio quality as it does for displays. i think they should copy what motorola did with moto x style and nexus 6 with dual speakers with the same amount of volume . one speaker having more voulme and the other having less makes people nervous and irritated, having their attention focused on the sound coming from the right side only. They could also copy galaxy c9 pro as it has same speaker placement as the mi max 2 but the earpeace speaker has the same volume amount as the bottom one. Use mannual focus for macro shots only. Autowhite balance use according to the color tone u want. Try to keep iso less and shutter speed high for low light but when using shutterspeed high use tripod or stand. With proper use of mannual setting it can capture decent photos... Best of luck get urself stand or tripod if u want to play with mannual setting in low light.

I was so impressed by the battery life.... For around 20 days...over 3 days before I recharged. Now the phone battery doesn't quite make it through the day. Definitely serious degradation. However it still does recharge very quickly. I was so happy not having to take the recharger with me but will soon need to.

Do not worry. This is working as designed. Lower speak is the Main Speaker while the ear piece is only to add the Treble/Bass to enhance the experience. They act not exactly but somewhat as Tweeter speakers.

i just wanted to thank xiaomi for making this great device for a good price everything is so good, the screen the battery the build quality etc. Only if they could do something about the earpiece speaker being allmost allways quieter than the bottom one, only on few videos the amont of volume is the same on both speakers,.In other videos, seem like the sound is not really coming from the front as the picture is. Picture and sound should all come from the same direction, this is a media consumption device with a built in phone after all. And of course this is the best phone i ever had. even though i had phones like galaxy note 5 that cost 450 euros and this one is 228. That Goodev app works very well. The volume is increased by a lot, even if I set the boost to only 20 %. But I deleted the app, I don't want to damage the speakers in my new Mi Max 2. If I want louder sound, I will use one of my bluetooth external speakers.

I also have the same problem with low volume through the headset I downloaded a sound booster from the Play Store. It's called volume booster GOODEV. it is very good at boosting the volume. I normally don't go higher than 20% boost. :)

Awesome phone. Have it for almost a month and it is worth the price. Love the battery life, performance without lagging and heating unlike others. Playing Mobile Legends (10 - 15 games per day), NBA 2k17 (Career mode 3 - 5 games per day), FB messenger call and even watching a couple of movies in Netflix before battery drains. Camera is also awesome (just turn the HDR = ON always).

I am long time fun of Xiaomi phones. I used Mi Max and Mi Max Prime and I switched to MI Max 2 few weeks ago. Its performance is same as MI Max but the power and battery is superb. The charging time is an hour less the the Mi Max. It is great phone with hard ware and software. The price is cheap compared to to Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Oppo.. Love my Mi​ Max​ 2.

I personally prefer the 625 as power efficiency and less heat are much more important than power in real life (Where processors already have more than enough power anyway. And speaking of power...try playing a game for an hour or so. I bet the "more powerful" processor will throttle due to heat you'll have the same power plus more heat and less battery life). Sometimes I go lower when I'm in doors If your screen is bright it will drain the battery faster. What miui update are you on ? Check screen times to see how much screen on time you are getting for every 10% of the battery used. You might find that from 100 - 90 % the battery drains faster than say from 80-30% also remember that lowering the brightness and using the battery saver helps a lot. :)

Thanks for the reply, what about battery life on the Asus. What kind of on screen times are you getting? I'm getting about 10 hours on the mi max 2 and that's with heavy usage. Atleast 3 hours of gaming 5 hours of video streaming over mobile data and the rest is web surfing over mobile data. And I still have about 30+% left at the end of the day

Get the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra instead. It's the best phablet for me of this size. I have the Mi Max but I really never liked it. I just use it as a back up phone because of the battery life but that is just the only thing I like about it. I just couldn't find a similar phone like the Zenfone 3 Ultra with upgraded specs and design. I will stick with it for a while since Asus did not release a new model/version of the Ultra.

Sorry but I don't think u can go back to 8.5.4 as I also get the same message. I think when the update is first released on the miui website and before it becomes an OTA update on your phone you can move between the two updates. I think you should try upgrading to 8.5.6 by typing "miui ROMs download" on Google. You then go to the official miui web page select your phone and download the global ROM. You might get better battery performance with 8.5.6 :)

Has anyone moved from this phone to the honor note 8 or Asus zenphone 3 ultra. I am considering selling this and getting one of those instead. For the record this phone is great and I have no complaints as I'm not fussed about camera quality. I think the camera on this phone is fine. The viewing angles of the screen are a bit poor but overall I don't tend to watch videos on the phone from unusual angles Looking at the screen from normal angles I'm very happy. I think when the update is first released on the miui website and before it becomes an OTA update on your phone you can move between the two updates. I think you should try upgrading to 8.5.6 by typing "miui ROMs download" on Google. You then go to the official miui web page select your phone and download the global ROM. You might get better battery performance with 8.5.6 :)

This phone is simply Awesome!!..Battery backup is amszing, runs for 48 hrs once charged, I watched movies and you tube, backup was great. Dual speaker sound is great. One hand mode is a very useful feature on such a high screen phone. In this price this is the best phone available right now. I bought it for 16999 INR online. Camera is good enough in this price range. Taking a screen shot is so easy, just 3 finger swipe. I am not able to get the Split screen working though.

I use this phone for movies and YouTube etc. The battery last very long, like they say about 2 days, of non stop usage. And taking screenshot is so easy. Just slide down sightly with three fingers, i mean really sightly, no need the whole screen

It doesnt look like the bands are not fully support at&t. Only 5 bands are overlapping with att frequencies. My question is 1. each cell towers have full range of frequencies or some of bands per cell tower. 2. Compare to fully supporting phones like nexus 5, will the reception be same? I travel isolated area for photography. I am wondering if this phone will not receive the signals because it does not support some bands. Thanks guys

For me 8.5.5 is not power consuming but 8.5.6 drained my battery. 8.5.4 was also good for battery but 8.5.3 drained my battery. I down graded from 8.5.6 back to 8.5.5 and I'm getting 10% drainage just over every 2 hours watching videos on YouTube but the brightness is set to about 25% and battery saver is on. So I can get over 20 hours of YouTube videos with these settings on mobile data. This is on 8.5.5, if anyone has the honor note 8 can they let me know how much hours they are getting out of their battery.

This may be because someone smudged your camera glass from the inside while assembling the device. Take it to service centre, they will clean off the glass and give it back to you. Same happened to me with MI4. I did the same. Dont tamper the glass as it may cause scraches on it

You used many other Mi phone????? I really doubt. All Mi phone I have used before are pretty respectable for their price, there are cut corner here and there, but nothing too distracting. At this price, I only can say the camera is not the best available, around below average for today standard. Otherwise, it's spec I would say is perfectly respectable for the price. It's screen, well, also not the best, but actually is usable, unless your eye don't like it, it is not until you can't use it. If really want to consider all rounder, maybe Oneplus 3T is the only alternative that come close to this price, but that is a smaller screen and lesser battery life phone. Otherwise, very little things are bad on this Mi Max 2. You get what you paid for, you can't expect everything goes perfectly with this sort of price, you greedy moron.

Go for Mi Max 2 . You won't regret a pinch about the battery life. Yes the screen is mediocre , software is a bit dodgy a bit here and there . Camera is mediocre at best . But if you need a mobile with LTE + tremendous battery life . This one is absolutely a beast . I have been using it since last 6 hours continueously after I got it . It was at 78% odd . I am at 6 hours SOT . Still 45% juice left . Abused it to absolute core. . Music , Videos , youtube , browsing and what not . Cant just kill it .

I haven't tested Lenovo K4 note, and coming from Samsung note 3 before. The stereo is a bit odd, cos the top speaker is front facing next to the earpiece, and bottom speaker is downward facing, next to charger port. So what you get is a bit weird sounding stereo, like watching a movie with home theater in an oddly shape room. It's not deal breaking, but certainly noticeable. Sound quality and loudness is pretty good.

There are two ways of checking it. You can go to your settings , look for ' Battery ' then click it you will see 'Battery Use' click it and click that ' Screen ' . Another way is click ' Battery ' , then click that Power , search for ' battery use ' then you will now be seeing Apps and Hardware , want SOT go for hardware ' Screen ' .

The name of the app is "volume booster GOODEV" I got it from the app store and it really boosts the volume of the speakers. I don't go above 20% boost as I don't want to damage the speakers on the phone. I usually boost between 10-20% depending on the audio quality of the video I'm watching. I use it mainly when watching videos on YouTube :)

The phone is good, if you want stereo speakers good performance and very long battery life this phone is great. I'm happy with it but try and get it for as cheap as possible. I over paid for it as I wanted two days delivery and I couldn't wait for it to be shipped from China so I brought it from a local seller in the UK :)

Audio output is good as it has sound enhancing options when using a wired headset. The speakers are good. I wanted more volume through the phones stereo speakers so I downloaded a sound enhancing app from the app store. Now the speakers are amazing :)
