You can look it up for yourself if you'd like, Xiaomi have placed an artificial thermal limit on the soc so that at around 40*c the phone thermal throttles like crazy. If you want to use the phone while charging you will have to either use normal charging instead of fast or just give up on the idea entirely, unless you root the device and change the thermal limits yourself. And i'm well aware that the battery wears down over time, i literally stated it in my previous comment. It was a battery champ and still does have decent battery life, but the point i was trying to make is that there are phones that are significantly better in many departments now a days that can be had for the same price or less. Everything starting from the screen to the universally agreed upon poor camera can be upgraded by at least two tiers with devices that cost the same or less.

Bruh the phone is over 3 years old what do you expect? The battery wears over time. And a factory reset would likely fix the overheating issue. Because something (or things) is probably running in the background stressing out the SoC.

No I wouldn't say it's worth it anymore. While I've been using it since early 2017 and consider it to be one of the best smartphones I've ever used and owned, I believe there are much much more better offerings out right now, even at the mid range segment. The camera as many have stated isn't great and requires heavy editing to get anything out of the images. The battery life while not at all bad ( especially when the phone was brand new) is kind of mediocre nowadays, mostly suffering from quite high power draw from turning on the display . But what I think kills the phone imo is that it has some serious thermal throttling issues because of Xiaomi setting in a very low thermal threshold for who knows what reason. What this means is that as soon as you fire up anything intensive or anything that shoots up the thermals of the phone ( yes that includes fast charging) the performance of the phone will plummet, making it almost completely unusable until you allow it to cool down; so using the phone while it's charging is literally impossible. This can be fixed however with a simple edit of a system file, but that's basically the crux of the phone in that it suffers from alot of flaws which you yourself have to put in effort to fix/mitigate. Rooting this phone and applying custom ROMs makes the experience much more bearable, but I realise that not everyone is keen on doing that and I'd honestly think is just too much work for what should be a great experience out of the box for the price.

Not really, the camera was very poor quality, even at the time of release. Compared to modern phones it really shows its age. Speed is also quite lacking, even compared to mid-tier modern phones. The only things it still has going for it in 2019 are the notchless screen and battery life.

In simple terms: Absolutely brilliant. Purchased it in Feb 2017 at about 580 US dollars, worth every dollar. Fantastic piece of machinery, software superb, came with Android 6 off the box, thanks to Xiaomi currently on Android 8 running MIUI 10 on top. Call quality is good, forget the naysayers, battery life it's a beast, gaming is good. Camera quality is alright, with adequate lighting, dim or dark condition not that great, lots of noise. I'd definitely recommend

I've had this phone for about 3 months now. I absolutely love this phone! I did a TON of research and reading reviews. And I was a little nervous but... the phone is definitely well worth it. I got the 6gig ram/256gig storage version. The 3-sides of "almost" no edge is just wicked cool to look at. I get, "Whoa! That's a cool looking phone!" all the time! The phone is zippy fast. Feels solid in the hand. And the screen is just the right height/width (6.4"). As opposed to those long and skinny phones that say 6.5" (looking at you Honor 8x!) but seem much smaller. One thing in the review I don't agree with is voice call quality. I think the voice quality is just fine. No problems at all. I can hear clearly, and they can hear me clearly. It's certainly not as low as the review said, that's for sure. Another thing I noticed the review didn't cover is the navigation buttons. These can be turned off completely and navigation can be done by "swipes" (from off-screen up is "home". From off-screen side is "back", off-screen up to middle and hold is "recent", off-screen left and hold is "last app", etc). This was never mentioned. And yet, it's an amazing feature. It adds "that" much more real estate to the screen. And getting used to it takes just minutes. I actually prefer it now to on-screen nav buttons. Another thing not mentioned- this phone has a built-in root system. So you can root the device and put in whatever ROM you want. I happened to stick with the Global MIUI , but the newest version (v10.2.xx) (on top of android 8). But still... the option exists (in developer options). Plenty of hidden gems in that MIUI! If you're not a "notch" screen type, and looking for a nice, big screen with no cut-outs definitely give this phone a second look! This phone looks amazing and performs just as well as it looks. For the price, you really can't go wrong! Love this phone! Very glad I bought it even though reviews weren't as positive as they should be! This phone deserves more credit than what it got!

Hello, anyone experimented a freeze on Miui 10 after last update?Its a freeze on home wallpaper, all icons (call,message,camera,etc).With kill button (left key from Home) work to eliminated all apps running in background but when i come back to Home its still freeze. 4GB should be more than enough but it is always good to have a little more just in case. MIUI is optimized to conserve RAM but that also means it won't keep storing your apps in the background. Most users turn the ram saving features off so you'll probably want that extra 2GB because background apps add up.

be thankful if you aren't on oero yet. battery life always suffers after an android upgrade and oreo has lots of problems for Xiaomi to patch. i just hope they'll quit android as soon as possible. we need MIUI os not MIUI on android.

Be glad for that. Nougat's bugs were mostly mapped out by Xiaomi so it shouldn't affect you but Oreo is brand new and it will take some time before Xiaomi can figure out how to fix all of the problems.

Your loss. MIUI is miles and miles ahead of any other smartphone OS on the market. It was based off of Cyanogenmod but is much more stable. Which is probably why MIUI's features keep getting copied by other companies. If you had been a MIUI user you'd know that all the fancy new features on Android P can be found on the two years older MIUI 8. Meanwhile MIUI 9 and 10 have features android users will be waiting another two or more years for. And don't even get me started on iOS. They're still trying to get all the MIUI 7 features down on iOS 12.

Well it is glass. Be glad you don't own one of those all glass phones. But I am glad that the newer stock of these phones have the upgraded ceramic formula of MIX 2 and beyond. The first batch of MIX had more fragile ceramic. That's why when you look for reviews on youtube they say that the phone is incredibly fragile. These days phones like MIX 2 even the Essential Phone can withstand some crazy drops.

I love the phone. I have had it for two years and the ear speaker built into the screen has started to fade. I have to use the speaker option to hear callers now. The bluetooth has never really connected consistently either with both of my vehicles. But all else has been great.

The screen glass is not so scratch proof. Mine gott small tiny scratch that so visible. I put in on the pouch on daily, and all of sudden realize the scratch. Dont know whats the cause.

well i never use MIUI lol. i always use custom rom, one thing MIUI win (on my opinion and my use) is just the camera app, and i can get good camera app with a little purchase from playstore. aside from that, i think the firmware is good (no cpu stopping), because i'm not experiencing that. i'm using latest 8.5.17 firmware under the oreo custom rom. but yeah, who knows. if you want to really sure, you can wait for stable rom, it shouldn't be that long to wait.

Speaker quality 100% Great Earpiece quality 60% but is ok and clear Somehow ,yes is strange this piezoelectric vibrating ear piece.But if you set volume to 20-30% nobody hear nothing.If i set to 50% yes , the voice is somehow heard but it is not understood.You dont need to press volume to maximum, only if you talk with somebody and over your head fly airplanes :) I meet people with S8 or S7 or Iphone with volume max and the whole conversation was heard clear. I use my mimix in one day with gps,4G,bluetooth active all time,3-4 conversation calls and more internet 4G and battery down to 44% after 12hours.Amazing! The speaker on youtube or conversation is great.And if you dont talk with people in a crowded and noisy area you dont need to push volume over 50% on earpiece..Set to 20-30% volume earpiece in a silence room with my friends and nobody hear my conversation.Only to max volume can hear your conversation but really...dont need that max volume in a room or car or even on street.

I love this phone, although camera is not as good as my previous S7, but I prefer to use my pocket camera anyway. Unfortunately the telephone sound is way below par and it is practically unusable as a telephone. I don't make many phone calls but the ones I do make are important. I'm afraid I have to chuck this one, I've only had it for 6 months. I'll be looking at a Oneplus 5T now. I sure would recommend not to buy this phone.

I have had the phone for almost a year and love it. The speaker is fine as I have never had an issue with it. be forewarned though... if you have the volume up too high neighbors may be able to listen in. ;-) Outside of that, everything that you are looking for is there.

I'm looking to buy the xiaomi mi mix. I know there are other competitors such as the Samsung S8+, huawei mate 10 pro and iphone x, but the mi mix has something that attracts my attention. The large 6.4" screen and 4400 mah battery, i am a power user who likes to turn all signals on, watch loads of youtube, google map and so on. I haven't looked much into the OS skin overlay MIUI, but i was wondering if someone could comment overall on the day to day usage of the phone, especially the piezoelectric vibrating ear piece. Can people hear you when you are using the phone as an earpiece and is the quality passable? I am someone who doesn't make much phone calls, but a phone with a poor earpiece is not a phone, period.

I heard and read the sound for calls from the phone is trouble... That new vibration technology they used for it.. And the last post in comments states the camera sucks. I've also read the camera is not that good at all. Not even a 3rd party app helps it. It only has a ~362 ppi pixel density rating. So what does anyone expect! Really to bad because it's a beautiful looking phone. Beautiful spec's.

6.4" might just be the ideal perfect size screen... especially when the screen takes up practically the entire body size. The screen is questionably large enough to replace most of your tablet or laptop usage and yet is small enough to always have with you. Even if this phone didn't have all of it's other strengths, the screen alone makes it quite desirable.

4400mAh is a large battery. Check how many amps your charger can provide. If you use an unbranded charger that can be the problem. If you use original xiaomi charger then you should be slightly worried. I dont know if this model has something like "fast charge" check for that. maybe your phone cannot switch to fast charge even with a good charger. maybe a software update will fix that. Anyway, remember that fast charging tends to heat the phone more and reduce battery life.

Many people seem to hate the call quality. I personally think it's quite loud for a none-speaker system. People next to me can pften hear what the person on the other side is saying too, so it can't be too quiet as often stated. The pure quality of calls though is poor! It sounds like an old radio, tinny and a bit imprecise. People never had problems hearing me or had noise. I personally don't call people often therefore it's the perfect phone for me (more screen than apple/essential). If you like phonecalls every day this is not a phone for you sadly.

If anyone of you has the 64GB or 128GB version, can confirm for me if this phone's internal storage can store single video file that is larger than 4GB? I just found out this limitation on my Micro SD card where in FAT32, I cannot store file over 4GB. Advises are formatting to exFAT or NTFS, but neither of the format can be supported by my phone.

I took delivery of my Mi Mix yesterday. Ordered online at www.geekbuying.com. Took about 2 weeks to arrive in Australia from Hong Kong with standard delivery which is a normal time frame for such deliveries. Everything came complete in the package and an Australian adapter was thrown into the bargain. Beautiful phone indeed. I am a BIG fan of BIG phones. I currently use a Nexus 6 (5.96 inches) for regular use and a Zenfone 3 Ultra with 6.8 inches screen for media consumption on the go. The Mi Mix is replacing the Nexus 6 which is now slowing down to the point of annoyance. After years of using Nexus phones with rapid Android updates, I was worried that the Xiaomi will come with a vendor ROM with no possibility of updating in the long term as I have read often happens. But what do I know? Totally unjustified fears. Instead, it came shipped with the Global Stable ROM Version 8.2.4.0 MAHMIDL (MIUI 8). I was instantly updated to Version 8.2.5.0 ROM (the most current version for the Mi Mix) within 10 minutes. Impressed indeed. While I don't mind the MIUI System Launcher, I now use the Google Now Launcher complete with the App Drawer. It's like I have stock Android with the additional benefits of the MIUI ROM. The Mi Mix works just like my old Nexus (when it was new!) and I have to keep reminding myself that I have a Chinese phone. In saying that I do not mean any derogation (How can I? The best phones come from there and you should see my Mi Mix). I was merely making reference to the lack of any Chinese characters in my user experience. More about user experience. I have downloaded the Snap Camera App for my camera and what a change in the camera performance. Right now I can only say the pictures in low light are way better. I will post more later.

I just bought one. It's my second Xiaomi, the first one I had was the 4. I came back to Xiaomi from iPhone 7plus because once you've used a Xiaomi interface nothing compares and you never forget how beautiful it was to use. The problem with my last one was the shockingly bad, no ill say TERRIBLE camera quality on both sides. I had hoped with paying an absolute premium for a top of the line model this time that the camera would have improved drastically. I took a gamble and we'll, I lost. This camera seems just as bad, if not worse than the other one. I feel extremely let down and should remind the company that having a quality camera on a high end model is so important because that's one of the main things a lot of people look for. How could you make such a beautiful expensive phone and then hurt your customers with such a low quality camera. I cant even use the pictures I take in Instagram because the filters on the app only highlight how low the camera quality is. Everything except for this major issue is perfect but I have to admit, I am heartbroken that I can't take photos with this like I used to on my iPhone or on my Samsung. I may have to buy a stand alone camera now. Come on Xiaomi, you can surely give a premium camera. I paid a lot for a quality device. I still love using my Xiamo Mix but I hate using the camera. Thanks for the advice, I requested unlocking from the Central Committee, got a verification text immediately, then within 1 hour received permission. As per their instructions I downloaded the unlock utility, but it failed to identify the device, reporting instead that the device is already unlocked, and that repeating the unlock procedure is unnecessary. Nonetheless, the updater continues to fail to recognize "update.zip" in the "downloaded_rom" directory as an update file. Still stuck with no ability to upgrade, either OTA or any other way, or to use Android Pay at all. Any further help would be appreciated.

You can download and install the official global ROM for your device from the miui forum here. There are two methods, recovery and fast boot, either must work. Fastboot method from xiaomi is very easy because they have a flashing application, you don't have to know all those commands to flash your phone. However you will need to backup before any of the methods as you are coming from a non verified ROM. Here is the link

Really an amazing phone. I bought the Ultimate version which comes with a nice leather case. Good points: - Wonderful design and the ceramic is just amazing. Most beautiful phone I've ever seen. - Powerful (6GB RAM) and very easy to use. I had it with multi language and google play store. My unit has finally arrived. I bought the 18k Model, 256GB ROM, 6GB RAM. It is really an awesome phone. Both 3G and 4G connectivity works simultaneously. With the huge memory capacity, coupled with the second space feature, it is so practical for me to just carry one phone instead of two phones previously. Only problem which I am facing now is that the Android Pay does not work on this phone. My phone was come with Global ROM (but according to official Xiaomi site, there isn't any Global ROM for this phone). I am not sure if the Bootloader was unlocked and cause the Android Pay refused to work. I am going to check it out later tonight!

Owned for 4 weeks now, 6G, 256G version. Best hardware ever, period. Software is glitchy, actually crashy in the case of Mi Cloud. Can't update the firmware without extensive computer participation, or becoming a developer, or something. I've tried a couple of times, no success. Too bad the software side is nowhere near the level of this hardware. The software is just not reliable enough to use, at least in the USA. I'm keeping it just in case a good ROM rolls out someday. Until then, I'm using a Galaxy S8+ that I don't like as much, but that has software that actually works.

Canadian main LTE Bands are 4/7/17 and some areas 12/13. 4 being mainly in metropolitan areas and 17 for rural areas and better coverage in buildings etc. 7 for more speed/capacity bandwidth . This phone should be good on the Canadian 3G HSPA+ network though.

Own and been using this phone for a while now and here are my thoughts. Usability - Fantastic Every time i use this phone, i love it even more. The things that seem to "annoy" most people like small bars either side while watching videos really dont matter to me as you have more video space... and i use an ultrawide monitor for my computer, which probably has something to do with it. its fast and has more ram than you will probably need for a while. Once you get google play on there (easy to do, many guides) its just the same as most android phones but so many options in the settings for tweaks and inbuilt themes (plus downloadable free ones) makes the phone really personal without having custom launchers etc that might utalise more resources than you want. Battery - Fantastic I dont know what they have done software/hardware wise, but its impeccable. I had the Galaxy Note 4 - a 3220mah battery and its a hige improvement. yes, i know 4400 is a bigger number than 3220 but the note 4 would last me 3/4 a day at most. Ive gone into day 3 MANY times with the Mi MIX and its only going to get better when 7.0 Nougat arrives im sure. Screen - Fantastic Honestly, Its so vibrant you could probably convince me it was AMOLED if it wasnt next to one and the size is a pleasure to use. A lot of people also are a bit hurt by the 1080p screen but... its a smart move, 1440p screen doesnt make much of a difference when youre talking phone size (unless youre looking to do cardboard VR). Sitting this next to my girlfriends s7 edge you honestly cant tell the difference in ppi and not having to push that many pixels probably is a big part of what helps the battery last so long. Camera - Acceptable My girlfriend has the s7 edge and you can tell the difference, especially in low light. the cameras not a potato but its not top-tier. Storage - Very Good I can kind of get why people are asking for Micro-SD expansion. although i got the 256 model... it would have just been a nice inclusion to have the dual sim tray be a SD hybrid as seen on other phone. sometimes its just more convenient to have removable storage. Call Quality - Good The call quality is a little on the quieter side with less clarity but very acceptable. Connection/Data/Calls - Very Good As it supports all of the common bands in the UK, dropping in a SIM and choosing the preferred connection type in the SIM menu is all you need to do. i also have a top-up sim for the US on AT&T and that was just as simple... just got back from using this phone on that SIM in the US for a week. Concerns Im just a little concerned that Xiaomi dont seem to have replacement parts easily accessible for this. i havent dropped it yet but, its not going to survive very well with all that screen and i want to know (or even pre-buy) a new part like the screen or ceramic housing is available. Hope this helps someone! Would i recommend?... Absolutely!! I havent loved a phone this much since my Google G1 (God that thing was way ahead of its time!)

I have been using mi Mix here in India for about 2 months now... Initially I also had network problems... Like not registered to network, call drop, not reachable, switched off etc because of the shifting between 4G to 3G etc.... This is how I overcame this particular problem... I use 2 SIMs.. one exclusively for data which is network fixed to work only in 4G and the other SIM exclusively for voice calls and network fixed to work in 2G only. For fixing network in the dual SIM SLOTS dial*#*#4636#*#* and change the network option to LTE only and gsm only in SIM 1 & SIM 2. Only hiccup is... This has to be done after every reboot...!!! I have not had any network issues after following this. *#*#....... Technique...

The phone is the same size as an iPhone 7 Plus (rougly). Its just a tad wider. It packs a larger screen in a smaller size. It has an 83.6% screen to body ratio, that much of the front is covered by screen, which is a lot.

That's true but the Mi Mix camera is pretty average... way behind the GN7 and probably not as good as the GN4. The main reason i sent my Mi Mix back was a dark patch on the screen. Also IPS is nothing on AMOLED. I ended up getting a full refund after eBay stepped in. Will wait for the S8 plus. My other big gripe with the Mi Max is how difficult it is to get rid of the chinese side of things and install google play and associated google software... Xiaomi should have a setup option that allows you to chose between Chinese apps and default google apps. I wanted to love this phone because of the design but it just wasn't there.

Xiaomi has not lost its focus at all. It very well knows the Indian psychology of value for money. Plus this phone has no FM tuner, which is a best known argument that an Indian buyer has to not to buy - oh! So costly and no FM? Plus most feel that more ram and more megapixel means better,which is not always true. Efficiency is more important.what makes you feel that 5mp selfie cam is not good? Premium segment in India is dominated by Samsung ( that's what most neo rich class can understand ). Hence no point in launching a handset which will never be understood. Mi5 is available in India on flipkart. Mi mix is a premium offering by Xiaomi with unconventional design. It's not everyone s taste. Many call it as a copy of sharp phone,but they don't realise one fact that sharp could not make its design successful, but Xiaomi has been able to popularize it.

Xiaomi, this phone is a copied phone as some people criticised but you did it better than the sharp company did and the phone looks so great, so beautiful. I hate people who copy things any how but love people more when they can copy things better way than the original or than the first hand. You have done so well. Do not let this model or design be your first and last at all. Please we need this same design in a 6' or 5'7 inches phone from you. That one add SD card slot up to 256 GB, and minimise the internal memory to 64 GB and 32 GB and bring the price to around $400 - $500 and see the customers you will have for this phone.

Overall excellent phone, fantastic design and build quality but very, very fragile. I bought mune 15 days ago and today unfortunately it dropped from the table (around 70 cm. height) when i was in a local bar. I couldn't belive but the damage was severe - almost total loss - the body was broken, the display too. The phone and display still work but practically the entire unit is for the recysle bin now... It just not worth to pay so much money for such a fragile item, unless you are 100% sure that you will NEVER drop it.

In Hong Kong there's another drop test revealing the Mi Mix's screen breaks even after dropped from about 30cm high, and I haven't found any other phone that couldn't stay at such low height.

I have returned for a refund and won't be getting another one. THINGS I LIKED - The form factor was awesome, a 6.4" screen in a iphone 7+ device is perfect. - Call quality, loud speakers ec are all good. - The OS is fine apart from google integration. THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE - The software not being integrated with google is terrible. If someone wasn't tech savvy they simply wouldn't be able to install google play and other software. I understand the Ch ine se go vern ment is probably pushing this but it really limits the phone. - The camera is only just average for 2015 let alone 2017. - The phone is pretty slippery and must have a case. Fingerprint prone also. - IPS LCD is pretty poor after using SAMOLED for 5-6 years. I will never be buying another device without SAMOLED as i want true black screens. All in all it is an interesting phone and hopefully it gives Samsung a bump in the bezel-less direction.

I bought mix 6GB from china local market and using in Saudi Arabia. it is an awsome phone but got few serious issues and it need quick fix by xiaomi. -most of the time daily, it stops receiving calls even it shows 4g network but offline to caller and after restart it start working for few hours. then i tried many things finally I set it on 3G network only instead of 4G and turned off VoLTE function. now i have not experienced same issue from last 3 days. -call voice from screen is very poor need some improvement. -slow start, 3rd party clocks does not update with system. -video does not rotate if I rotate it in video calling messengers. like tango, imo, justalk, skype, etc. Hoping these problems will be fixed sharply specially first one.

Finally got Google contacts SYNCING ... Under installed apps I set every permission on every Google app to allow... I then installed Google Contacts sync 6.0.1 (not the latest) and finally it showed contacts under my Google account... NOTE TO XIAOMI... your boot up screen says powered by Google... My Mix 256GB turned up today so i have had 4-5 hours to play with it. Previously had a GN7. Initial thoughts are. - WOW that screen is amazing. Sure it's not AMOLED (blacks aren't as nice but whites are better) and its only 1080x2040 but the size is simply great. The resolution difference to the GN4 is so tiny it's hardly noticeable. - Build quality is simply first rate as are the looks but the edges are slippery. The leather case that comes with it looks and feels great. - Setup is a little painful. Even after you select English at the start you still get plenty of Chinese characters until you can install play store and a normal keyboard. - Installing google apps, play store is a process. As soon as you select English the OS should give you the option to install google apps as standard. Still haven't got contacts coming through yet. - performance and battery life are first rate. Charging from 20-80% took about 1 hour... its a big battery - The camera is nothing flash which is the biggest downside. - The whole OS and appearance isn't as good as iOS or Samsung but its pretty polished. - I think i still prefer a front fingerprint reader but maybe i will get used to it. - The ear speaker is better than some of the on-line reviews made out. Will give a more detailed post after i have used it a bit.

So i took the plunge and got the 256GB/6GB Mi Mix. The body size is basically the same as the 5.7" V20 and 5.5" iphone plus. The downside of moderate camera is well and truly out weighed by the screen size and massive battery life. Hopefully its here before xmas... will let you know what i think. The GN7 had an awesome camera but I am more excited about getting this device tbh.

That is not valid proof that designers from sharp worked with diatonic to create the mi mix. It is already known that the mi mix is using sharp's displays. But there was no collaboration besides that, not even design. Unlike the Google pixel whom actively collaborated with HTC to create and design it. Xiaomi didn't do such thing. And just cuz they are using their displays doesn't mean designers helped at all. It's like saying samsung collaborates with Sony because it uses Sony's camera sensors.....please bring actual proof to back up your facts. It could be nice with 5 inch screen, but the 6.4 inch screen is really too big. Extra big size with narrow bezel is hard to holding, I guess Xiaomi also doesn't have the technology to making bezel-less, it only use to make the Mi Max more giant to solve/hide the lack of bezel-less technology, because making the bezel-less is very aggressive to the internal hardware just like Samsung Note 7 pushing to hard to it internal hardware in a tiny room.

The screen is not curved, it has only rouned corners. It's a little bit confusing, because at original photos there are almost no visible bezels around the screen, and it looks like the display curves along the edges of the front 2,5D glass. In reality, the bezels are slightly thicker and the matrix is completely flat. Moreover, it's not an OLED screen, it's standard IPS unfortunately... There is no doubt here, check GSMArena's review. And if you don't believe that IPS screens are curvable, check Elephone S7 :p

I like the fact that it's 1080p. Makes the huge battery last even longer. It's one of the best phones I've ever used. The 1080p looks sharp, and the colours are quite vibrant. We (most of us Indians ,not all) consider price tag as a prime factor rather than the quality of stuff. With no FM tuner and lack of SD card, I don't think it would be that popular. Add on to that with current scenario of demonitisation, no one will be willing to shell out white money for such gadget.

This phone is a very good piece of design with new direction. Though sharp tried first, but it is Xiaomi , which executed it effectively. Xiaomi deserves appreciation and credit for this. Better than those iPhone copy cats or WEIRDO design,who do weird stuff in the name of design. I'm using the 6GB RAM 256GB ROM version in the New Jersey New York area and I have to say the phone is amazingly good. You really do not need an external SD card with this phone. An original 256GB MicroSD card costs over $200 today. The screen is so huge and the bezell-less design is visually very appealing. Definitely worth the price. An iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB ROM costs about the same if not more yet it is lacking on the stunning beauty and all specs of this phone except for the camera. Compare iPhone 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi Mix side by side on this website and you will see what I mean. I therefore think that if millions of people can justify the iPhone, they should justify the Mi Mix even more. Oh, and you get gold on the phone which makes it an ornament. This phone is expensive because of its looks, specs, and very limited availability. That's what myself and everyone else who buys it will get. You can however opt for the nano version, which I think will be more appealing to most people due to its size. And also, this phone will probably retain a high resale value due to limited availability.

I have been using it for 7 days now. I must confess, the wow factor that was really there at the beggining, faded a little bit, but hey, one gets easily used with good things. I must say, it is a very good phone. Everything works smoothly and fast, slippery indeed, but with a transparent cover it's ok, without spoiling the beauty of the phone (the provided leather one is high quality, but a bit too thick). Most important, the in - call volume and quality are not bad at all, as this was my main concern. In conclusion, I am very, very satisfied. One more thing: I didn't even try the MIUI interface, I am using Nova launcher from the beggining, which is very similar to the stock Android. Battery is good too. My only concern is that, if everyone else will follow this trend, there will be no more phone design. I know that this one is signed by Starck, but I fail to see any originality in design (except the lack of bezel and the rounded corners of the screen)

I find something wrong with this phone...Antutu only runs no more than 70,000pt, which is 50% of other SD821 phone. Camera is poor at low light and phone call voice quality are absolutely BS! Battery Life, it can last a day, but it will be drained when you wake up in the morning.

Just had mine shipped to my door. I would say the following. The phone looks gorgeous, a bit slippery without the case, if you have small hands, you might need to be careful. The bezel isn't really borderless (depends on what wallpaper you are using). I had other Xiaomi phones and I can read Chinese, so MIUI isn't something new to me, but you should wait for the Global rom to be released. Everything is top notch, except there is no SD card slot and the camera is POOR! No stabilization and the colour is just awful, I wasn't expecting that on a flagship.

It doesnt look like it has a black frame around its screen. Im really excited for that being. I was disappointed at the mate 9, although it had a big 5.9 screen, the black boarders made the usable screen smaller. Might as well market as a 5.7-8 or whatever. I love the 4000 battery though, i think most phablets are leaning towards that. One thing i hate on mi mix is the glass.. Its not guerilla glass. Means that it will break from just a foot drop and someone actually already did a review w a shattered screen. I guess they couldnt make all the features 'amazing' on this fone.

It's a concept phone because they are innovating in new tech to do things completely different from Sharp. Have a read, or listen to Marques Brownlee on youtube(already closing in on 4 million views). Is Westword TV Series copying the Aquos with borderless mobile computers? Of course not, it's a concept imagined by many that goes back decades from all over the world. Copying the Aquos the first requirement is it would have to be fat & ugly with a monstrous proximity sensor that looks like a speaker port . Good but not great. If you're going to make a high end phone why not go the whole way? This phone is using yesterdays OS. Why not use Android 7 or 7.1? Seems stupid to me. Also silent on IP68 means it is not there, big problem. No removable battery? Problem, I want to remove the battery in the event of a meltdown. No memory expansion is a NEGATIVE; I want to expand it at MY discretion not limited by the hardware. The screen res is also too low at 3XXppi. Many high-end phones are well over 500 ppi?! I am not a Fan, but still: 1) it is a custom display. and you will not be able to differentiate between either unless you are Superman and have Supernatural eyes. 2) Even the "So Called" best phones are made in China 3) You cannot literally even fill 128 GB, and again if you are Superman, you have 256GB - So external memory card option is not required 4) it takes some courage to do this, so after Sharp releasing a similar model, this is a way to look into the future which the "So Called" bigger brands didn't have the guts to do. This was a very close attempt to make the ideal phone for 2016-2017 but didn't manage unfortunately. I mean like 5.7-6" QHD crisp display, (AMOLED would be great), same design and screen to body ratio SD821, some water and dustproofing (even splash proofing would be fine), 64-128gb/4-6gb ram, 4400mah battery, add some good speakers and don't forget LTE B20 and NOUGAT 7.1 that's it.. mama Mia Is this too hard to implement? The new Sharp device you're talking about is a prototype showcasing the new IGZO LCD. There's a live video of a MIX prototype on youtube with no chin at all, but so what, I can't buy it. People are innovating behind the scenes all the time. And considering Xiaomi have always used Japanese displays in their flagships it's very likely in the future that Sharps IGZO will end up in a Xiaomi device. They didn't copy Sharps insanely huge proximity sensor, they used an ultra sonic proximity sensor. They didn't copy the Sharps direct wave tech that sends the sound vibrations through bones, they created their own ceramic piezo to send vibrations through the phone then conventionally through the air, into the ear. They have innovated in a bezel-less design their own way. It's not a copy. Lastly you wrote "It's just another copy/wannabe sharp phone tbh. get real". The idea of holding a bezel-less screen is an idea that goes back decades. Sharp is the first to get close to it. I have not used iPhone, but I've heard a lot of people in India saying iPhone is the best in terms of User Experience and Pictures won't pixcelate as well. Nevertheless, XIAOMI - is booming and has grown vastly.. especially now with Redmi 3s Prime version of phone which is just 8999 Rupees - 135 US Dollars.. Thousands and thousands of people have become crazy for Redmi 3S prime, Redmi 3s version of phones in Xiaomi. For now, I am pretty sure that more than Apple iPhones currently in India Xiaomi's market is huge and there is a lot of demand being created as well. Nevertheless, iPhone has not become like Royal Limited Version which is priced very high compared all other phones in the market..

Huawei Does. My mate2, bought almost 3 years ago, has bands 2,4,5,17. The Mate8 I bought about a month ago, has the same, which is perfect for the USA market. From what I have read elsewhere, this Mi Mix will be a "concept" device, for their mainland market, 10,000 max per month sold. Considering the case & display, I'm sure refinements to the design might be warranted. Better to get any bugs ironed out before you try to ship globally. For better or for worse, not a lot of complaining comes out of China, considering that country has a pretty iron fisted approach to complaining. ;)

Front camera is located at right bottom of the phone and any time we can hold the phone upside down or as it is to take selfie. For call speaker, they have new technology called cantilever piezoelectric ceramic that means no need of hole for speaker, it can sense what we speak through ceramic body. For proximity sensor also they have similar sensor that can sense through whole display if we are holding the phone for call.

I do actually have one speaker with triple coils on one membrane, let's say it can hold 3 channels (more than only stereo I guess). But it's doesn't make the config stereo. Stereo/multi channels are more about positioning. Let's stop this discussion as the internal phone speakers are crap :)

Well, this phone will break how we know the high-tier phones that's for sure. Sure the Aquos did the concept but they FAILED at it. How is it impractical? It functions as a phone, can take videos and photos etc... If it did not function then they would have kept it as just a concept phone and not release it. It's 17:9 to host the soft keys that replaces the normal hot keys so it reality it's will be mostly act as 16:9. Why does a phone screen needs to always be 100% rectangle? I do not see how the corners are curved being an issue. It's curve around the corners as that's how the world renowned designer Philippe Starck chose to designed it.

I'm going to have to disagree. Obviously it doesn't NEED a top bezel, as the phone exists without it. They've used a new technological breakthrough to replace the earpiece, so there's no need for a top bezel. I also don't know how you'd find this device ugly, as I think it looks remarkably elegant. Easily aesthetically the best concept-to-creation phone I've ever seen. I haven't been this interested in a phone in years.

I'd like to hear from anyone who gets this phone as to whether having 'no bezel' is an issue/annoyance when holding the phone, at different angles/hands. Whilst typing, taking photos, and also when lying down (we all use a phone lying down occasionally!) I find with my S7 Edge this is a bit of an issue bumping buttons unintentionally and dropping the phone on occasion whilst not trying to touch too much of the front of the phone.

Yes, Sharp did release the first bezel-less smartphone, but in the US it only comes on Sprint, Boost Mobile, or Virgin Mobile. Also, the bottom chin was HUGE and having to turn the phone to use the front camera is kind of annoying. It was also really small (to me). I'm really interested in this phone and hope it comes to the US at a reasonable price.

I don't know how Xiaomi comes up with the 91% screen to body ratio. GSM arena is correct it is 84%. Even less for anything 16:9 with a black bar or apps showing the on screen buttons. It's still the highest but flagship Samsung phones with much better specs are already at 79%.

I spent days googling for a good priced max spec Phablet. I did all sorts of Phone finder searches and came up stuck with the Xiaomi Mi Max. Long story short, I have the highly successfull Mi Max which is what they've simply innovated the Mi Mix from. My Mi Max has 128Gb storage and 4Gb RAM, same excellent batteries(phone lasts a whole day) and screen size, just more bezel. I have no doubt the Mi Mix will be a super hit. Xiaomi made an excellent Phone in the Mi Max and they'll dominate the market if they keep this trend up. It is simply unbelievable that Xiaomi Mi Max phone is very cheap. I finally left Samsung coming from the Omnia 1 and 11 right from 2008 till the Note 4 which I just sold. The Note 5 was whack cos of no removable battery and cos their Notes do not last, I hoped the Note 6 would change with that trend. In July, I finally ordered the best phone in the market, the Mi Max in my opinion and felt so bad for Samsung with the enigmatic, burning Note 6. I do my research very well as a Telecomms major and the Mi Mix does not surprise me one bit cos I've seen first hand what the Mi Max is capable of doing. Xiaomi will be the way forward and they might be at the top of the foodchain come next year cos no other company may beat the pricing to quality ratio so far.

IT'S BEEN CONFIRMED!!! This phone WON'T be release internationally. One of Xiomi's staff reply to a potential customer about this. He said that, if they would released the Mi Mix worldwide, it would cause a lot of problems to their company. It would also only have LTE bands for China. No LTE bands in the U.S or any other place. The reviewers here are very reliable. It's been my first stop for years just because they say it the way it is. Just in this case they're not testing the quality of a song before and after it's passed through the HiFi DAC. That would be a seperate test requiring several different songs at different compression. Considering the very few phones that have a separate HiFi DAC I guess it's not worth their time. I'm the same. The audio quality of the original Mi Note/Pro is insane with the HiFi DAC, in fact it's the main reason I haven't upgraded. I'm not sure about the MIX, it only mentions HD Audio 192kHz 24bit, which is very different from having a HiFi DAC sort out the modern worlds dodgy recordings.

A reply to all mentioning the Sharp Aquos Crystal: It is not about who is the first without the top bezel. It is about being the first delivering a fully fledged smartphone, with top of the line specs, a marvelous execution of a side- and top bezel-less design. Xiaomi dared doing it in a profound way and with gusto, while they're at it. Sharp missed the mark in many ways, while Xiaomi has created something truly special, hence the current hype worldwide. Having no top bezel doesn't mean you're the first, it merely proves you've performed a trick. Creating a complete product, like Xiaomi has done with the Mi Mix, is a true statement and should only be applauded.
