ZTE Blade - User Reviews

 • I bought this in 2011 (It was rebranded by Dell in India) and the phone was great. This little guy was tough. So much community support, Modaco forum.. xda and mods.. so much nostalgia..

 • Bought in UK in ~2011, still using it in UA. Second battery. Need new battery.

 • Actually it works great, a very good phone was in the past. Mine was recharged after 5 years and the factory battery is still in good health.

 • Evening please guide me where or what to do on my phone it have got a speaker problem. I bought this phone in January this year it was fine from the beginning but as from may up to now it still has the same problem. Who can fix it because in the store where I bought it they told me that it will take 2 to 3 months which is too much at least 1 to 3 weeks but

 • Too small....

 • really good phone has charging problems though I used it for only 4 months the battery went dead

 • what is the length of zte blade

 • First of all,why did you even bought this phone in the first place? it's a really old device.Of course, it won't live up to your expectations! Plus, there are many great cheap smartphones out there!

 • sir My Phone is very Good condition but the body is very OLD / please give your phone /

 • This was my first android phone back in 2011. Even though it was shitty, it helped me to learn the basic tricks of android rooting/flashing and stuff. Never hard bricked, though it was supposed to, the way I used it. Surprised to see this still in market and people actually buying it. Holy $h!t.!!!

 • This is a 6 year old phone, why are people still buying it?!?

 • Bought a brand new one, microphone faulty, person on the other line cant hear me, in contact with ZTE at the moment but not happy

 • This must be the worst phone on the market. It has a mind of its own and nothing works as it should. Hope it gets withdrawn from the market very quickly

 • does it support HD videos or lagging. I used mx player but lags so much.

 • Why can't I login facebook? I means I have been trying since I bought it, but even installing facebook, it never loggedin.

 • 5" Is not that large, y'know. it's barely a phablet. I'd understand you if it was a 5.5"+ ^^;

 • Amazing phone like nokia 3310/3330. 4 years of hard use ( gps, email, facebook, viber, whatsapp, etc etc) its time for some rest, zte blade s6 is coming :) .just have one problem: 5" Size!

 • Simply my best owned phone ever.Using it since october 2011.Smashed accidentally screen twice which i have replaced from aliexpress for only 10.5 Euros each.Rooted, overclocked, swedish spring rom installed,sd-ext partition in memory card and almost unlimited apps installed .Sending message using it

 • how i can make hard reset

 • Probably your system cache is getting eaten by temporary files most likely from facebook or the phone's internet browser. If so, go to setting >> apps >> facebook. Then tap "clear data" (not "uninstall"). You might need to logon with your facebook account the next time you open it. You can perform this simple steps whenever your internal memory seems getting consumed by temporary files. Hope this solves your concern...

 • My internal memory is getting lower on a daily basic, and l am not dowbloading any app, culd someone pls help me!

 • My internal memory is getting lower on a daily basic, and l am not dowbloading any app, culd someone pls help me!

 • problem is there is NO non-giant phones newer than blade. i`m Using Razr M (previous phone was Motorola Droid Mini), and its kinda smallest phone i could get since ZTE Blade.

 • Come on. It is 2014! Buy a decent phone.

 • Nice phone. last 2.5 years im using, there is no big issue. Internal memory is too low. Camera quality is good. Just now facing few problems.

 • Haha what a cute little bastard this one is! Very distinctive! Seemed like such a serious device back in the day!

 • you can buy it on ebay or aliexpress and using youtube replace it by yourself

 • In finland the camera only came as a 5.0 megapixel one. In other countries the specs also differed. (Check wikipedia for the differences)

 • can i get the touch pad ,i broken my touch pad plz help me???????????????

 • The best camera in such a price range.

 • an application cannot be fully moved to sd card bcz it needs some space for processing that remains in internal

 • Whee can I Install corporated email because I don´t see any IMAP/POP3 request, just outgoing email, server and nothing more. thanks rafael

 • Everything is fine but...internal memory is quite dissapointing...!!

 • any downloaded apps consumes internal memory because its the primay memory.. it is also the reason why you need to install an apps before you can enjoy it..

 • +1 I change the Blade for Ace2, but still have it and still use it. That was my first Android device and i have very good expirience with it. People that complain abou low low storage, just dont know how to use it. In modaco have all that you need to make it working like you want. Great phone for its time. This was the best ZTE product for years. Epic.

 • It uses your headphones as an antenna for radio.

 • i think it is a really great phone except the camera dosent work after a few months and its slow after downloading apps. otherwise its a really good phone.

 • Why is it that this phone has no loud speakers for fm radio and yet it has them for sd memory? I love this phone. again my phone has aproblem with the camera,it can record videos but cant take photes

 • I've had this phone for 2 years now. The biggest problem is the storage room, even with an sd-card. If you want to use facebook, dropbox and still other apps you'll have a problem. Because you can install them on your sd card but they still take space on the internal storage, which is very very small. In the beginning the phone was fine, but now it's crashing a lot

 • This mobile was damm good begining but after one year gave me masive problems n Idea cervice centre dont care of my mobil, saying by new one n scap that set.

 • This was an epic phone at the time of its release in 2010. And through the years, it's had an epic showing. I've been through the two Cherry Mobile Flares and Huawei y210d, and I still have this phone in active duty. It has all my phone numbers, it has my most updated apps (whatever it can run), I use it as my primary phone, media player, ebook reader, and alarm clock. I'm getting ready to buy a Lenovo, but only because I need more CPU power beyond my Blade's top capacity, and it has been overclocked at 810 mHz ever since shortly after I rooted it 3 years ago. But even with a new phone, I won't retire it and still continue to use it as my hotspot. I wish ZTE could make another phone that's as cheap but in every way as legendary as this phone again.

 • I have a problem talking to people that say I am muffled talking back and can not understand what I'm saying.

 • My Mobile PDA Is Kracked, What Price PDA?

 • one of the best i see

 • Have been using for over three years, most of the time without a sim-card, as a small tablet. Poor battery life is not a problem, even quite good as a navigator, seldom lags. Gps is very good without a-gps, better than some phones with a-gps on. I like it more than iPad for some things. Would like to buy a faster and as reliable phone as this. Blade2 or 3 are not as reliable, maybe Q is.

 • flash it by new rom

 • May be its corrupt. Pls check

 • For ZTE Phone service you can visit the below Location: F-12, First Floor, C Com communication, Eternity Mall, Thane. Its a HTC Mobile Service centre but they also provide service to ZTE Phones.

 • I had this phone back in 2011 and what I can recall it was very very laggy, bad camera, bad audio quality, poor battery life etc. The only good thing was the clear display

 • phone memmory is, there is no other prblms, good battery back up, excelent toucdh screen, alredy accelerometre compass

 • I have been using this device myself and had the same issue with the web speed on the device. I contacted my service provider orange and found there part of the network was fine as the same SIM was working great on the other handset. So I wanted to get this issue fixed and contacted ZTE for assistance and they had asked me to perform a master reset and a software upgrade. The tool is available on their website. Also to be noted i am using San Francisco from Orange from UK.

 • As the internal memory is very small so some big apps like facebook, twitter, google playstore, gmail and your memory is gone. But however you can try transferring the applications to the SD card and that you do not run out of space on the phone memory. For the issue on ringtone if you feel its less than the normal volume tone of the mobile try performing a software upgrade. The software tool is on the zte website. If still the issue is not resolved you can contact the ZTE hotline for assistance as I once had issue with my ZTE handset and found good assistance from the ZTE end to get my issue resolved.

 • I bought this phone about 3 weeks ago. The battery hardly lasts 2 hours when idle. The internal memory is very small so some big apps like facebook, twitter, google playstore, gmail and your memory is gone (But that's my mistake. I didn't pay attention to it before buying). The ring tone doesn't necessarily work all the time. In short a BIG 'NO' to ZTE BLADE.

 • very bad slow web

 • this is a great low end android phone.Stop with the whining people atleast its better than the other cheaper one....poor camera though but nice processor speed

 • True, with me, not even a month it worked properly, the phone could not pick up the network at times. The ring tone would work and stop at times. The mute is off but cannot hear the ring tone. Really frustrating. So i replaced with a Nokia.

 • I tested this phone, i was suer it was pure garbage, and in manmy ways it is, but it has some really strong sides also! +: 1. Build quality is great, feels so solid. 2. Display is nice and bright with very high pixel density, great viweing angles, like IPS, expected more clarity and contrast is far from great but for a china display its very good. 3. Battery! 5 and half day on one charge and nearly half battery remaining, this is the strength of the ARM11 processors. -: 1. Small buttons on the front. 2. Cam is typical china. 3. Almost no internal storage. Would love to have this as a backup phone, coz of the battery, but i need LED flash for my backups.

 • yes , internal memory not enough how can we refix for internal memory for this phone[

 • nice phone running jelly bean 4.2 ATM can handle it quite well

 • use cyanomoad 9.1 then you can easly update ur zte blade to ics

 • How can i upgrade this phone to ICS ?

 • in reply to the below comment re hang up button. go in to settings, accesability, slecet to use power button to end call option.

 • Hi, I bought the phone few days ago and it's great, but the during the call or on the end of it, there is no hang up button so the call will not end until the other party hangs up. Can anyone help me please? How to fix this problem?

 • Cyanogenmod 7 was better. I tested Swedish Snow RLS7, Cyanogenmod 7, and Cyanogenmod 10, on ZTE Blade. Swedish Snow did really bad in comparison. Not just the Benchmarking but also hands on noticeable experience. AnTuTu Benchmark: Swedish Snow: 1902 Swedish Snow after some use: 1431 Cyanogenmod 10 (KonstaKANGs based on Jelly Bean): around 2136 i think Cyanogenmod 7: 2182 as the fastest one. PS: My phone is overclocked to 748mhz, its the highest stable overclock on ZTE Blade. So those results are on that clock speed. Using 7 right now, we'll see how it goes after some use. ^_^

 • I use Swedish snow operating system on my zte blade. It is a new fast OS and easy to install. Fastest going apparently and has good features check it out

 • I got my blade 1month ago would to upgrade it to 2.2 or 2.3 but I hv failed.I hv tried out most of d instructions on how to do it on different dried buy around I failed to get it. Call an 1 help plz. Reply on [email protected]

 • This phone is great. I know a lot of people (and I mean A LOT) have a problem with this phone, but its all in how you use it. When I first got this phone everything worked fine, but as the months went by I notice that the phone would freeze, not hang up, and reboot without my permission. But all that can be fixed by just cutting off your phone when you dont need it, like when sleeping, church, etc. Just like a computer, your phone needs to take a break, that's why it reboots/freezes. Also you need to download an App Killer, so that the apps dont keep running. Try some of these examples. I charge my phone about once a day. When your battery gets low, dont charge it until it gets to the red, not the yellow. The more you play the more updating its going to need. This phone does everything I need it to do and more i recommend this phone to every one....

 • i am very happy b'coz i gote ZTE .

 • I've been using my Blade for 16 months now (a year and few months) and I'd say I'm pretty much impressed with the phone's capabilities. The digitizer got broken months ago and just had it replaced last week. ZTE has very limited service centers in our place and was able to find one through MSI. I read a comment here about broken digitizer and also elsewhere, not sure if the hardware is really poor since I've dropped my phone for several times before. I got this from our carrier on an Android 2.2 customized with the carrier's own system but had it rooted since no tech/dev upgrades being announced. Now I'm using my Blade to its full potentials. Running on 2.3 fast and sleek. By the way battery is good also, just had to manage apps and get those power-suc*ers out if necessary. Lasts 3 days with average phonecalls and SMS, not much gaming, few wifi. No plans of letting this cool Blade go for now.

 • battery backup is poor if used in 3G network..

 • Been using this unit for almost a year. It has a good performance given its price value. Battery life can last more than 2 days with minimal usage and wifi. The camera is subpar but works and screen brightness is just right. One good thing is it good support for custom roms in facts, I just install miui version on this. There's definitely some lag in speed performance but it is good enough for everyday use.

 • This is an awesome phone. The price-range is good. Features are great for that price range. Nice display and stuff. Mine was locked to orange when i bought it but its pretty easy to unlock....just google. I flashed a custom Android 4.xx IceCream Sandwitch and it peforms very well and looks awesome. My friends think that its a very expensive phone.

 • This device has a very good battery capacity it runs for 2 days with out charging iam using this device from maany months i have recommend this device to many of my friends they are also happy with this device

 • It was a good choice, but now is not a good idea to buy it. It was so cheap and it has a very good screen and performance. Using custom rom 2.3.7 clocked at 806 mhz with system tuner. I think is the phone with more custom firmwares.

 • This phone is awesome, perfect size,800x480 on 3.5 screen and 270 PPI !!!!!just to good,no htc in that range can come near it,am using ics 4.0.4,cpu clocked 800mhz,no comment :-)))

 • This phone was probably the best budget buy for 2011 because of the community support. It is still well supported in the modaco and xda forums. You just have to google the name and read the wikipedia article in order to understand its spread and influence. Using custom ROMs, I have overclocked and undervolted my CPU, leading to faster performance while still improving battery life to a hard day's use at least. Various tweaks and add ons also improves on its features. In fact I've had the time of my life in using and modifying this phone. It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I can recommend it to anyone who doesn't need cutting edge technology. But there's a new budget king in town. It's called the Huawei G300. I shall be upgrading soon. But this phone! This ZTE Blade! This is indeed the stuff of legends!

 • there are some mistakes in the specifications. the screen isn't amoled or lcd, it's just tft, and the camera has 5 mp, not 3.15.

 • Battery performance is very very poor ,improve

 • ZTE Update Tool. Scanning Handset Fails even in FTH mode. Did any one faced this issue ? If so what is the resolution.

 • Does anyone know where to obtain spare parts for the ZTE Blade? I require another small internal coaxial aerial. If you've ever opened it you will see it is a very thin shielded wire that wraps around the side of the case (non volume control side).

 • I have Orange SanFrancisco. I am using it for past 1 year now. Its very good phone, except for few issues 1. When you call, screen becomes blank and you can't disconnect the call until the person whom you called disconnects it. 2. From few days now, Battery charging takes lot of time.

 • ZTE Blade is no doubt one of the good Smart phone but it's OS Android needs to evolve. We don't have Application Right Management Control. Any application that is given rights to access SD Card, Internet or Contacts or other rights will always be enabled to access. We can not make any changes in its rights until we know coding.

 • Please someone tell me how can send music from my phone (zte blade) to an another phone!!!

 • none...right now its not wise to buy an ARMv6 based phone...wait a couple of months for zte blade 2...it has a better chipset which supports ARMv7 instructions...in short buy a phone that will comfortably run ics... if you can't wait go for a huawei ideos x5...its a better(way better) choice and infact its cheaper than the galaxy ace although it doesn't have a radio and the only ics update you should expect is a custom one..already there is one.. wait for i.c.s based devices...

 • I bought mine through Cricket wireless USA for region.... This phone is worthless unrooted. Cricket floods it with bloatware (crap like Muve music.. uno, bubblebash and about 3 other paid advertiser apps locked into root. When I got mine from store, it had 28 mb available mem, and was slow as a snail. Root the ZTE.. It will thank you greatly.. It turns into a zippy lil phone that juggles memory requests with ease. Go for the Zerg one click root.. That is the ticket to making this phone usable.

 • Ei. What's your 6000, is it Pesos or RM or Rupee...? Anyway I have one of these ZTE Blades. I got it as a Smart NetPhone package here in the Philippines. Good enough phone, I managed 2 days without charging, just playing a NES emulator and listening to music and of course texting and wifi surfing. Cam pics and vids are quite grainy but I don't care about the camera. Acer neotouch s200 is quite a good powerful phone too if you can have it upgraded to a custom android rom or something. It runs on WM6.5

 • hey friends i wanna buy a phone in the range of 6000 i dont wanna waste my money can anybody suggest me which one should i buy

 • That may be due to the version of android u've installed on your phone. Some Versions like MIUI may have some bug which may cause the camera not to work. It may work pretty good if put up with a legit android OS.

My blade is more faster, have more internal free space(also allows me to install apss directly to SD card)... Guys XCD aka ZTE blade is not a bad phone... For 8000 bugs its a nice pick... • Wonderful cellphone for the price. The ram has a hardware limitation of 256Mb so cannot be unlocked. The display resolution is amazing. Works wonderfully if upgraded to gingerbread 2.3 by using the Moldovan High Mountain Pie Rom. Cyanogenmod also works but the camera doesnt work because the drivers for the chinese/ Idea Blade are missing, hoping for an integration of drivers soon. Definitely a phone worth having.

DELL xcd is zte blade in real ? cons and pons .....!! ---------------- DOCOMO IDEOS ... another phone and MTS cdma android phone same as IDEA ID-280 . Here the answer - The real models are ============== 1. Ist - IDEA Blade - It is ZTE Blade and same as DELL xcd35 . Which is better - in my view PRICE wise and operator's benefit wise - IDEA ID-280 is good . These phones can upgraded to 2.2 officialy , and 2.3 too but unofficialy .. Do this after completing warrenty period ( for gingerbread ) . To know complete correct specification go to gsmarena.com . • there are several gingerbread roms..blade mix 360/365,gingerstir fly, moldovian high mountains, fish and chips...but cyanogen in my view offers better features and is more stable.. there is also an official gingerbread for gen 3 blades..some guys who've managed to convert to gen 3 say its quite good..but converting to gen 3 is hectic..not worth it right now..am sure a port to gen 2 is on the way.. there is also an ice cream sandwich port to the blade though its in early stages..you can try it but its not for everyday use..

 • Hi guyz,i bought the phone yesterday and its 2.1.can i upgrade it 2 ginger bread coz ave never used a smartphone before

 • cm 7.1 ..does it for me..its not the fastest rom out there but everything works..but you can download all of them and try each for a couple of days..there is also a 7.2..although not an official cm rom..its a modded one based on the 7.1.. so have you managed to install the first clockworkmod and backup your current rom or do you want with that?..the procedures are quite safe as long you download the correct files..its important to backup just in case something doesn't work out..

 • actually Ive just learnt all that in the sanfransisco uk site...but I havd to get orange unlimited if Im to download those large files.. which is the best custom rom to instal,,, I have seen swedish snow, cynanogen 7.0 and also 7.1 .are there others?

 • can we start with what is clockword.how do I instal it. and whats the use of having a backup of the stock rom.is it to prevent bricking your phone?

 • i'll assume you've installed clockworkmod recovery and have managed to back up your stock rom or any other rom to the SD card..this is for gen 1 blades that came with stock eclair..if yours came with a stock froyo then its most probably a gen 2 and hence these instructions are not for you..just download Mr.pigfish if you are not sure.. make any backups of the apps using titanium or root uninstaller..also backup your contacts.. ok now download the converter.. there are two of them..you can choose either of the two..depending on the partition layout you want...you can also find another converter in the cyanogen site.. download it..unzip it..use your file manager to unzip e.g es file manager an image folder will appear..make sure that image folder is in the root of the SD card I.e not in any folder.. assuming you've downloaded cyanogen 7.1..its a zip file..do not unzip it..place the cyanogen 7.1 in the root of the SD card I.e not in any folder..also you can download the google apps..for legal reasons cyanogen provides the the google apps in a different package( download the google apps from the cyanogen site)..place that package in the root of the SD card..do not unzip it.. power off your device..wait for a few seconds.. hold the menu key and vol+ key then power on(..all 3 keys now pressed simultaneously)..you should see some green text..that means its flashing the gen 2 firmware..once its finished it'll boot into clockworkmod wipe the factory settings and data, dalvik cache..I didn't wipe the partition layout.. now to install the rom 1.Highlight Install zip from sdcard and press the Home button . 2.Highlight choose zip from sdcard and press the Home button . 3.Highlight the zip file you copied to your phone and press the Home button . 4.Highlight Yes - Install . and press the Home button . do not reboot first so that you install the google apps..repeat step 1 to 4 for the google apps.. then reboot..the first reboot should take some time so be patient..

 • they removed my contact let me give the instructions here..

 • @peppersam.if i come 2 K.U how will i get you?

 • tez..blade + stock rom(eclair)= not a good experience blade + custom rom(e.g cyanogen 7.1)= an awesome experience.. the stock rom makes the phone so slow even typing fast is a problem..the music player hangs a lot and skips when you are launching other apps... plus you get tons of new features with custom roms..for now you can try poweramp or mixzing or winamp pro which have tons of features..cyanogen has a DSP manager which helps you 'manage' the sound.. but you should upgrade..

 • my phone hasa poor sound quality with any earphones...is there any player to solve this or can anupgrade to cynanogen 7.1 help

 • why should you take it to someone else when you can do it yourself..follow that post or join the facebook page and I'll give you the instructions..I don't know of anyone who upgrades in Nairobi..but if you can come over at Kenyatta university I can upgrade it for you for free..

 • or just search google 'gen 1 to gen 2 tpt upgrade' and click on the XDA link..first read then we can start from where you don't understand.. join the zte blade Facebook page..I think that's the best place to answer your questions.. also you download some of those files listed on that website ESP the converter file(the 16.3mb one) download cyanogen 7.1 from use the mirror site...so make sure you have the converter + cyanogen 7.1 and your blade must a European one and came with stock eclair..

 • peppersam.......start . id also like to know how to get the cynanogen 7.1 ......

 • id also like to get to know how to upgrade

 • how do I unock the other 256 to make it 512 or better yet...how do I know what ram it has available?

 • you can improve games playback by downloading chainfire pro..install the plugins and set the nvidia or powervr plugin for that particular game..its not guaranteed to work but it doesn't hurt in trying..play around with the settings.. download the full version of chainfire pro + plugins for free from HTTP://www.approb.com

 • I recently upgraded to cyanogenmode 7.1 and its doing really fine am loving the music player its really awesome with a good set of earphones.

 • hey i live in nairobi can anyone tell me where to go and upgrade it even if unofficially thanks in advance tell me where to take my and upgrade it even if unofficially???

 • ya

 • don't know about official upgrades but I know about unofficial ones..you can join the zte blade Facebook page...zte blade/orange San Francisco...do you want to know how to upgrade to cyanogen 7.1?that I can help you with...

 • Any problems with battery capacity

 • in india.its name is idea blade

 • hey can i upgrade it officially

 • yes it has 512mb ram..but there are others with 256mb ram...others with 512mb but half of it has been locked ...depends on which part of this world you buy your blade from..

 • is it true? it has 512mb ram?

 • dell xcd35 and zte blade both are the same phone marketed under different name.

 • good phone for the price. screen is awesome. internet speed is also good. but has some drawbacks too, internal memory is low so that limited apps can be installed. doesn't support flash player and the main one battery, not up to the mark. anyway nice phone

 • There is no need for any hardware keys, maybe a power on/off, and there are many software keyboards on Android Market that make it really easy to text and edit text with no need for a hardware keyboard, I use "Smart keyboard Pro" that can have onscreen arrow-keys and/or let you move the cursor with the volume-rocker and you can make each key larger/higher.

 • ts n android phn..... all android os phns gtng battery bck up only 1or 2days LG p970.. s also getting battery bck up only 1day.... or half.... im using ds phn.... use automatic briteness... (sory 4 ma English)

 • I've bought it like 3days ago and all I can say is, the phone is really nice for such price, but the battery could be worse. Recharging every day. (sorry for my English, im from Europe) THE BATTERY IS SH*T .....

 • do post your experience of using this handset when u get it, thnx

 • hey i am in india. planing to by this one.what is your opinion

 • unlocking is easy mwas ..just buy some orange credit..ksh.20 is more than enough..go to android market and search 'zte unlock code calculator'..download it and install..it should automatically recognize your IMEI and generate the unlock code..write the code somewhere or memorize it.. switch off the phone and put in a different sim card e.g safaricom..switch it on and wait for the tab that prompts you to 'unlock the network'..key in your unlock code and you are done!! removing the orange stuff is easy..you need to root since most of the orange apps are installed as system apps..just download universal androot..it should be able to root..but its a temporary root..so some apps like root uninstaller or titanium backup which you'll use to remove those apps may detect your device as being not rooted in which case you need to root again.. there is an easy beginner's guide to rooting and installing custom roms at sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk

 • Download droid gram unlocker from the market and use it to unlock. Btw peppersam I said I bought the blade...

 • Thanx peppersam.any1 in nairobi who knows where i can unlock it and remove the orange stuff frm it and how much will it cost.

 • being Gen 1 or Gen 2 has to do with the memory layout of your blade ..you really don't need to know the details..what you need to know is how you can tell your blade is Gen 1 or Gen 2..Mr.pigfish will help you with that..that's an app in the android market..and how to convert. converting to Gen 2 or going back to Gen 1 is an easy process..TPT is the recommended method to convert..all you need is to download some files that will help you do that and follow a few instructions.. cyanogen 7.1 is gingerbread custom rom for android phones..it is available for several phones including the blade..it is built by the cyanogen community..there are other Rome you can try like gingerstir fly,Swedish snow, fish and chips .there are also froyo Roms like Swedish springs

 • What is this gen 1 and 2 or cynogen 7.1?i want to buy the phone on friday and want to knw how i can get rid of those orange stuff.?

 • stop lying to us..the mini has a ARmv6 processor just like the blade..adobe flash player(the one from adobe and in the android market) doesn't support arm v6..however there is a modified one that can run on armv6 processors..i have it and it works especially with dolphin browser..i don't see how flash player can make your phone faster ..lol..

 • stay with your mini with mediocre resolution ..yea.when you upgrade to another o.s it doesn't mean you can't downgrade to the stock o.s it came with for warranty purposes ..bet you didn't know that...am on a Gen 2 blade running cyanogen 7.1..it was originally a Gen 1 blade with v2.1 eclair..if i wanted to reset the phone as it were it would just take me at most 3 minutes being Gen 1 or 2 doesn't have anything to do with the type of screen you have..as i said mine was a Gen 1 with a tft screen...and you are wrong .orange Kenya sells the blades with Tft only..the OLED ones were the very first to come out..by then orange Kenya had not started selling the blade.. dial. *983*24474636# in the dialer - if "Glass" is "Samsung" then your phone has an OLED screen. "Lead" or "Truly" means you have a TFT screen...try this on stock rom..i if you are Gen 1 i suggest you convert to Gen 2 since most Roms now are for Gen 2..we also have Gen 3..you can still convert ..

 • How long will the battery last if I use it for textin (ALOT) and browsing (not wifi) ...

 • This phone defines everything i need in aphone!! it's off the hook.

 • Who cares about the warranty? Especially in this part of the world? What matters is getting rid of the installed orange garbage and installing a stable, clean, fast O.S. I installed Swedish Spring RLS5.

 • Who said they are all TFT? I think they are all OLED. Mine is, bought 2 months ago.

 • Go to your network's shop for internet settings.

 • The San Franciscos in the Orange shops in Kenya are most likely all Generation 1 phones. These came with OLED screens. I have one and its great. AMOLED is far superior and is not incorporated into cheap phones like San Francisco.

 • The galaxy mini is way much better except frm the screen,if u buy it in an orange shop(kenya)once you unlock it and upgrade to frayo or anyother then the warranty is void.its nt worth it.

 • Hello I am thinking of buying this phone on monday is it worth it? Am buying it in Kenya from an Orange shop Does anyone know where I can get an Amoled and not TFT? Thank you

 • Ok .then maybe comparing the resolution is wrong,..but still galaxy mini has flash player.. Blade doesnt..and the bluetooth is WAAAY FASTER..so is battery. Anyway I ended up buying this phone yesterday and am liking it.. The camera is trash..bt thats where my poket camera comes inAm thinking of upgradin its android version.

 • Bought my ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco) in August 2011, from the Orange shop. Worked a treat up until a few weeks ago, then the battery wouldn't charge. Ordered a new one, replaced. Still wouldn't charge. Ordered a new charger from Amazon. Still won't charge unless you leave it plugged in for over 24 hours (and yes I try it in different sockets, clean out the ports etc) Any help??

 • and can you really compare a Tft at 240 x 320 and one at 480 x 800..267 pixel density vs 127?? you must be very nocturnal if you're buying a phone to take photos in the evenings...haha..no offence intended..and by the way the camera quality of the blade improves a lot when its upgraded to froyo or gingerbread..

 • I don't know where you people are buying your blade..bought mine from orange shop at the gpo..came with 512mb of ram..am also very sure if it came with 256mb the extra 256mb is probably locked..you can use a patch to unlock it..who said the galaxy mini has better 3g?? check your specs properly..tft has its a pros and cons..I would choose the blade over the mini anytime..that's why I bought.. I bought mine Gen 1 but now its Gen 2 running cyanogen 7.1(gingerbread 2.3.7)..already tried the alpha version of ICS..its promising..

 • Screen resolution is no match for galaxy mini!!

 • screen resolution is no match for galaxy mini!!

 • since the ones in Kenya are tft screen, its much better to buy a samsung galaxy mini even though the screen is smaller (but still big) since it has better 3g speed, bluetooth technology, camera (during evenings) etc. Or does anyone think otherwise

 • Thanx alot iit has worked!Am so greatful

 • I bought mine in Nakuru kenya and its a tft screen with 256ram basically its a gen 1

 • Hey, am in Kenya & intrested in buying this phone. I'd like to know if yours came with an AMOLED screen or TFT? What about RAM or ROM(not so sure bt 1 of these), 512 as in the specs here or 256 as I hve heard somwher? I'd b gr8ful 4 ua replies

 • @ Shyma go to 1.)Settings 2.)wireless and networks 3.)Mobile networks 4.)Access Point Names press Menu button to add new APN just type in the name section Safaricom or name of your choice of network apart from Orange thats it leave everything else and save it turn on 3g/GPRS connectivity through the power icon tab phone should configure and pick up internet within 2-3 minutes it does the rest automatically good luck

 • I recently bought the phone in kenya and unlocked it but the problem is that i cant access the internet unless i use orange sim c ard what could be the problem?

 • its comes with documents to go..you can only view documents..editing and creating documents is restricted to the premium version of the app which you have to buy..you can try kingsoft office..its not as powerful as docs to go or quickoffice or think free buts its free..

 • does it have a document viewer/editor

 • I have been using this phone for almost 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. The screen is very good. Large and clear. Works quite fast and battery last for quite long. I usually charge the battery after 2 days of normal use. If I play with it a whole day I have to charge it again. Depends on the applications you use. And by the way: It play game smothly. It had 3D graphic and that makes a difference. I recoment this phone. It's cheap and quite good.

 • Battery life is not low compared to any similar android phone.Gets one day with moderate to heavy use. Add Cyanogenmod 7 and you get a truly awesome phone fone for cheap.

 • Is mail for exchange can be downloaded in zte-blade or not?

 • Had loads of fones and the zte blade is well in my personal top five, best thing I did was upgrade it to Android 2.2

 • quantify 'sucks' ..how long does it last?.you guys just amaze me..you want a nuclear reactor for a battery?! with the kind of display you have and the android system don't expect the battery to last long.. and what do you expect from a ksh.12300 android smartphone!!

 • Bought mine from Sarit, Nairobi n man the battery just SUCKS. I am still monitoring its pereformance though and i havent downloaded much applications

 • my zte blade couldn't using internet , gprs , and mms. I couldn't setting my zte blade ( haven't manual book instruction ). thanks

 • Mobile is good , performance are good , the only week point battery go down with in hour while net surfing and other use , battery is the most minus point.

 • or this if you experience any bugs with 10.3..give the other users your feedback www.androidcampus.in/2011/10/adobe-flash-player-102-for-armv6-and.html?m=1

 • anyone running froyo or gingerbread can try this flash player..

 • Hi, I have the LCD, 256MB RAM version and the battery life is ok, you can get all the google apps so syncing the contacts/ emails/ calendar etc is very easy and reliable. The phone accepts TF cards so you can upgrade the storage capacity. Good phone overall.

 • The phone is most likely not powerfull enough to be able to run that game. I don't know which game this is about though. Another possibility is that you have too many applications running at the same time.

 • Is there any option to upload the phonebook contacts in net through this phone ? so that even out system gets corrupt at any time, we can get it back from net. Thanks for your help.

 • the battery is not that bad..mine can go up to 2 days with light internet use..are you talking about the internal storage memory?..yea its low at 150mb..if you are willing to spend more (like 300 us dollars..) i would suggest you go for the huawei ideos x5...the ideos is better than the similarly priced samsung galaxy ace... but the blade in my opinion is the best phone if you are on a really tight budget..

 • hey,am thnking of buyng dz phne..bt heard battery lyf is low,and has a low memory..can i troublshoot dz in any way??plz help

 • hey i got zte blade android 2.2.2 ...when i play game it lag :( any idea to solve it ?

 • Why hate the orange services? that's why you are free to use any network services that you want and phones are plenty in the market.choose!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 • unlocking is very simple..the unlock code calculator is available in the market and its free..once you get the unlock code just remove the orange sim and put in a sim from a different network..wait for the tab that prompts you to 'unlock the network'..enter the unlock code and it'll tell tell you whether you are successful or not..that simple..

 • Does the droid gram unlocker for the sanfransisco work? Or any other unlocker.I want to get my hand on this phone from orange kenya bt I hate orange services

 • an alternative is to use the root uninstaller and the default filer of your phone..the root uninstaller always makes a back up of the apk files you've downloaded..just go to the filer and check the directory 'root uninstaller'..check the apk you want, long press and choose bluetooth option to send the file. NB..make sure you enable back up of apk files in the root uninstaller..

 • value phone, brilliant display. audio quality is just ok in built in speakers. in 3.5mm jack its quite refined but not so loud. but u can live with this. camera is not bad, does the job. nowadays they are selling with froyo. and i can already see some devs working on ics for blade. what else can u get for 90GBP.

 • is your blade generation 1 or 2?..and are all features of the phone maintained esp. auto rotate after the upgrade?

 • you can download app sharer from the market..lets you share links and apk files very easily..it will list all the apps you have and you choose which you want to share..via bluetooth or email..i liked the one from root uninstaller team..if you have root uninstaller it should have already suggested you download it..

 • i bought mine from orange kenya..have you tried updating to froyo?and goes cyanogen mod work with gen 1 blades?..the query is open to everyone..

 • The PC suite is stored in the phone. Connect it to your pc and browse for it. That's how I got mine. HTH

 • Howz the phones music player?

 • Android 2.1 makes it bit laggy in gaming ..bt its sexy phone i lov th display ...in kenya its known as san francisco retaild by orange kenya @ ksh.12299..

 • hello..its a great device..am looking for an official froyo update(i heard there was one from zte and orange u.k)..if there isn't which is the most stable custom froyo rom that maintains full phone functionality(esp. auto rotate)..also is the cyanogen mode stable?

 • On a Android phone, the files that you get through bluetooth would be saved in the bluetooh folder. or if you download, by default gets saved in the download folder. go to file manager and open SD card and then look for these folders.

 • zte blade has only 4 hrs talktime...so it is enough fr an android phone..only 4 hrs...pls post ur opinion(zte blade users)

 • I could not able to find PC suite for my mobile. Could some one help on the pc suite link..? if pc suite is not there, pls guide how to install the applications..

 • how did you install adobe flash

 • I don't think so. But there are a lot of ROMS ( Example. Cyanogen Mod ) that works on android 2.3.7. You can root your Blade, get CW and Flash custom roms

 • Is blade will get Ginger Bread plz. What about its performance. Urgent plz.

 • forget the standard fm app and download from the market the superb application; Tune in Radio. browse the many stations and play it loud :) enjoy

 • It,s good experience with idea 3g &3.5 inch of screen

 • I recently installed cm7 stable, its pretty fast now and I have installed adobe flash and it plays smooth...adobe for arm v6 would only work with custom rom.

 • I recently installed cm7 stable, its pretty fast now and I have installed adobe flash and it plays smooth...adobe for arm v6 would only work with custom rom.

 • Hello everyone I download some apps to my ZTE Blade and I want to copy these files (APK) to another device but I can't find where it store them. Can someone help?

 • best phone ever!

 • Yes you can

 • I am very happy to use this phone because it's amazing phohe.

 • i use phone in egypt and cannot access internet

 • can we upgrade its android version to 2.3????

 • i use phone in egypt and cant acesses internet

 • Does the phone have a document viewer?

 • Does this phone have a document viewer?

 • if you have any charging problem with ZTE Blade. change your charger. Blackberry Charger is 100 % compatible with ZTE Blade and work absolute ok.

 • Android can multitask, but the problem is the very slow ZTE Blade processor!

 • I do not dare, and I should not need to do a "proximity sensor calibration", and the screen died immediately after I dialed the number, long before the proximity sensor could have sensed anything, and that is not acceptable for any rom! "Complete Android Experience 1.1", Android 2.3.4, downloaded using ROM Manager is ok, but I can not change the volume when using the FM-radio!

 • It is not true. As any Android phone this phone supports multitasking. Operation system is Linux with Java(modufied for mobiles) GUI if You would like to know.

 • The Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 is working fine on the phone when you just do a proximity sensor calibration after you did the upgrade.

 • it does not support multitasking

 • Really good phone. A lot of Android for a very low price

 • As usual even "stable" releases of CyanogenMod have too many bugs, 7.1.0 for Blade can not even make normal phonecalls without the screen and the whole phone freezing and the only option is to pull the battery. I now use "Complete Android Experience 1.1", Android 2.3.4, downloaded using ROM Manager from the Market after rooting with z4root. Opera Mobile and Dolphin browser Mini are the best browsers, and on Blade I use Skyfire to stream Flash movies...

 • I use CyanogenMod 7.1.0, Android 2.3.7, on my Blade that I got for free! I would never have bought this phone, but I now got it for free so I decided to "play" a little with it. It can not handle Adobe Flash, but Skyfire actually plays every movie perfectly so I can play movies... from en.justin.tv/directory/entertainment ..., and I can play Need for Speed Shift without lag but it can not handle more demanding games very well. The camera is bad. Because Blade is not expensive at all, it is a really good phone for the money! I now have both Galaxy S2, probably the best phone in the world right now (N9 and 4S and Lumia does not even come close, and even Blade can actually be compared with the very expensive Lumia) and ZTE Blade, that probably is the "worst" Android but still beats any Symbian but not the camera, because Android is by far the best Mobile Operating-System!

 • The custom ROM I installed is Swedish Spring RLS5... you can get it from There are other ROMs for ZTE on that page so its a matter of choice. Good luck

 • I am surprised that there is no news at all for the Blade 2 that will be out this month...if not already selling O_o !!! Well ok Orange sells it but...I guess later we will see and the blade unlocked version selling.

 • how do you format the card?

 • the battery is actually very good as long as you disable updates like face book etc initially it was horrible but now simply superp.

 • Do you know that is possible to format the flash card and to rezerve 1 gb so that the phone would think that its internal memory is now 1 gb?You just need to work a little and everything would be fine)

 • What custom rom have you instaled?Could you tell it or that is a secret?

 • I have had this phone for 2 months. The battery used to suck in the first few days but now I get about 4days of battery. HOW. I have installed a custom ROM and also have a battery saver app....keeps the connections off once the screen is locked. Also another trick...I change my network from 3G to 2G just for normal sms and calls only. Love the phone and is worth every penny.

 • I don't think its battery is so bad (it's like my Partner's iPhone 3 GS's, I usually charge it every night, but many times it is still like 60% in the evening), but I've noticed if I turn off the GPS (which I need mainly for Maps/Places) I can save a lot of battery life.

 • bad ass low end cp, ive been using this for almost a year now "netphone in the philippines and vibo a699 in taiwan ill share some tips on how to maximize this cp, first install skyfire web browser because this cp lacks adobe flash support, second root the phone using z4root. tust me it will do wonders for you...

 • I want to buy this phone but ...Zte blade vs samsung galaxy mini, in terms of battery life and features....anyone with an answer feel free

 • i use phonein egypt can,t acess internet

 • The battery doesn't last longer. no use.

 • wifi android fone & camera is gud!!

 • using the phone in Ghana, can't access the internet. help me out.

 • 1.The battery isn't much worse than any other smartphones. 2.I have 150 apps installed, for most of us it should be enough:)

 • the battery sucks

 • This phone is also known as Dell XCD 35

 • battery really suckss

 • This phone would be exceptional, for the price, were it not for a show-stopping design fault : the internal storage space is MINISCULE, only 160MBs. Even with an upgrade to Android 2.2 firmware (which allows for installing some apps to the SD card), it is the internal storage space that's used for program cache and data. This means HUGE problems, as you will be routinely "left out of space" when trying to install new applications. I can't for the life of me understand why ZTE made the foolish, foolish choice of bogging down this otherwise worthy smartphone with such a small storage footprint, but them's the brakes. Go for Huawei Ideos X5, which will at least allow you to use and install lots of apps, as it has 1GB of internal space..

 • removed the bloatware from orange runing android 2.1 & upgraded this phone to Cyanogen Mod 7.1 latest runs smooth no glitches also upgraded from gen 1 to gen 2 easy process

 • samsung galaxy mini is the best

 • Hi Tom, I got mine around 2 months ago and was surprised to find out it was a Gen1, After looking online however I found an easy CM install guide that converted the phone to gen2 in the process, I'm now running Cyanogen 7.1 (think the nightly builds run better though and I've never had an unstable one) and it's great! here's the guide at the official CM wiki:

 • Ok no worries ended up trying it is just able to be done on gen 2 handset but hey it puts you on 2.3.7 it does look great.

 • Hi all. This is more of a query than anything. there has now been an update to cyanogenmod 7.1 for the blade. i am assuming like the custom roms available for this handset from Cyanogemod the handset needs to be a gen 2 handset am I right in thinking this?

 • zte blade vs huawei ideos x3 vs samsung galaxy mini...4 everyone...which one the winner???

 • motor feeling is ... not .. so.. good

 • Everything is good, except the battery.

 • I bought this phone too. I rooted it. Put another bootloader (ClockworkMod) on it,and flashed a 2.3 image (Ginger Stir Fry v2.6b) Works good.Mmeory left is low (about 117MB) Lotta phone for less money.

 • the battery sucks... the cooling system for this gadget is poor... few minutes browsing makes the unit HOT battery have small life period just 2hrs, the battery got drain

 • WOW, if I were you I wouldnt ever said that this phone bla bla, look its so amazing using 3.5in WVGA AMOLED still in my country it price not even $118

 • 600 mhz... not powerfull enough. prefer samsung gio better (though still not support flash in browser)

 • any way i can upgrade the O.S to 2.2? and how do i play the fm radio loud? someone help

 • this phone is also known as SMART NETPHONE 701 in the Philippines

 • Go to 'settings' --> 'applications' --> 'manage applications'. Select the 'all' tab at the top. Then scroll to 'contacts storage' and select 'clear data'.

 • the best way to delete all contacts is to delete contacts from your gmail account by checking all boxes. I let you remember that your Gmail contacts are synchronized with your ZTE blade phone.

 • Hi, How do you delete contacts in this phone? Preferably delete all. I can't seem to figure out how. I appreciate the help. Thanks

 • i dont think so...i can make 16h with light use an even more , 10 pictures, 3-4 emails, 30 minutes surfing..., and a few calls. what u want?, a nuclear powerplant...

 • the battery is 1250 mah which means its not the battery that sucks but the phone, it is power ineeficient... you better buy samsung

 • no, they tried, but not enough customer to make a bigger battery and new back cover.

 • Is there a High Capacity replacement battery available for this mobile in the market? (As the stock battery drives poor battery life)

 • I am facing bluetooth problem which is annoying me a lot...it is always discoverable for 120s only. How to fix it in the unlimited time line??? Need you guys help.....!!

 • @ikab use market enabler to fake a different country then you can download it.

 • Switch to Cyanogenmod rom. Puts you on Gingerbread Android. I used the total phone transfer method on two phones which made them Gen2. It makes a good phone into a serious bit of kit.

 • Can anyone tell me how I'd know whether its gen1 or gen2 apart from using Ask Mr Pigfish app(since it can't install in my country)

 • Try downloading an app like App2SD. This will allow you to move many of your apps onto the SD. Note that some apps must run in phone memory, but most can be moved.

 • I am facing battery life problem I have to charge it daily. Battery become empty real soon. I make brightness low and using save battery option off the phone though it has poor battery life. How to improve it?? Can anyone tell me how to update my OS to 2.2 via root?

 • Do not like ZTE. They are competing with low labor cost. I am Chinese. But I have to say I don't like ZTE.

 • HII the speed given is always divided by 8 so ur speed is ok..........

 • low speed or throughput during download/upload? In my opinion,we can not judge directly to the handset.. It also depend to the operator and network performances :)

 • i have a problem with my zte blade. the phone memory becomes low when i download app or games thats stored in phone memory. how can i save in sd card memory?

 • Greatmashine. Excellent value for money.

 • well-being I have a few days ZTE blade and I have tried in the networks of T-Mobile and O2 CZ speed test. For upload, I never got over 380kbit. where is the support for 5.7 Mbps HSUPA?? In the case of my data plan I have a limit of 2 Mbps. Similarly, the problems the user's voice from England, Poland, Germany, Slovakia. Had any other hardware revisions without support HSUPA? who knows ...

 • you can use cyanogenmod to overclock your pocessor and to install apps2SD, the apps2SD is even better then the official one!

 • type zte blade in market and you get the wifi-fix for free

 • u can install 2.3.4 gingerbread, or a good one is blue ginger which is on Modaco website. have this zte since 3 months now, and it works flawless.

 • how can i put a custom ringtone on my zte phone?

 • Definitely a good phone. I have the android updated to 2.2. No problems with the wifi, camera good for 3.2 mpix, not slow. Baterry life was ~1,5. I talk much, use wifi, games. After that I downloaded a program from the market - android booster. Now after 2 days of the same use - much talking, 30 min/day wifi at least, I still have ~30% power remaining. The program makes no problems with wifi or 3G or else. Now the phone seems like the best deal for those money.

 • Hi Dardane, i had the same issue with my San Francisco. I couldn't connect to my router or any hot spots etc, after a while it continued to disconnect and most of the wireless networks disappeared. I researched this problem and many owners of the ZTE Blade/San Francisco have had major problems with the wifi. I rang up orange customer help line and they suggested a factory reset but I didn't want to risk it in case it actually succeeded. So I asked if they could replace it and they said yes and the replacement San Francisco arrived the next day free of charge.

 • hey hws d audio quality?hw mch will it cost in India.i knw it is available as Dell xcd 35 in India.bt its very expensive.plz reply fast.

 • reset factory setting in your zte. and reset your router.

 • I have an issue, i use to connect in wireless at home but now i can't connect at home but everywhere else I can connect easily, i bought the phone lately and I'm not that good at using it, can anyone tell me how am i going to fix this issue.

 • Apps to SD is possible. Root the phone and use 'S2E'. Create also an ext3/4 partition. Easy bizy.

 • Installed GingerBread, Froyo and HoneyComb. All stable except the Honeycomb. Good phone. One can also overclock the processor to 729Mhz. I simply love it.

 • I've got a Blade with 5Mp camera. Great phone for 120 Euros here in Holland.

 • major issue, camera quality is low, and video not very good.rest is very good, for 120% u can not better. i estimate this phone at 250-350$.

 • install a good rom from modaco... like gingerbread 2.3.4 and it wont be slow.

 • Also Battery is around 20 hours with average use. I will expect the HTC LIBRA to fix wifi and battery

 • Has the WIFI problem been definitely fixed? That is the major issue with this phone

 • This is good fone but beacuse of 512 MB RAM ,works little slow

 • Bought this phone to replace a se x8. Unlocked it and using it on 3 So far it is much better. Screen larger and better resolution. Phone much faster. Camera slightly better. Video worse. GPS, just slighty worse. Look and feel better. Call quality is yet to be determined.

 • many zte blade around since 10 months and no problem so far. battery: 10 am fully charged,at 20h00 battery 56%full 10 hours later., not so bad for an android i took 20 pic, check mails 5-6 times, send 20 pic by email, rest of time, sat off, wifi off, screen on auto amd 1 minute off,and surfed 10-15 minutes .no call. u can make 2days with the zte blade, maybe 3.

 • Hi everyone! Can u tell me if this ZTE blade is a phone that will work for arround 2 years or is it very easy to demage/ruin/break? Do u think HTC wildfire s is better in this point (durability)? The difference of price is ZTE blade 100 vs HTC Wildfire S 150 tks for your answers ;)

 • tried the wildfire S, this zte is still the best. even the camera is not worse than the wildfire S but the screen is the best around. very close of an iphone 4. I still dont understand why people buy 500-800$ phone, when they can get a very good phone for 99 pounds or 130 swiss francs at orange. my friends who have wildfire for 400$ were choked when they saw my ZTE with true glass screen.. they said they will sell it on ebay, and buy a blade...

 • ive got this phone its the san francisco though aka blade i love it.The things you can do with it is unbelievable, ive unlocked mine for free it only has a 600mhz processer but it packs a punch. For 70pounds its amazing the only thing it lacks is a flash media player and no transfer of apps to the sd card.Other then that its amazing

 • He friends does any1 know the ZTE dealer in Munbai/Pune(India). Please let me know i am very eager to buy this fantastic phone. Please

 • Okay, thanks for that will definitely do that! :) Also, just noticed you can multi task without opening the task manager, just hold the home button. :)

 • Hi, I phoned Orange and they give you a £30 discount :). More info at

 • WIFI=amazing, better than nokia, inside I can get my neighbour open connections 10/10 SOUND= just OK, not the best for music, need to buy good earphone 6/10 SCREEN= fantastic, I dont see any difference with IPHONE4, and i have the TFT, not OLED. screen is slightly less sensitive than Iphone which is better I think. 10/10 CAMERA= just good during the day.it s just a basic camera, nothing special. 5/10 ANDROID MARKET= very good, can install many games, pimball,...8/10 MEMORY=300 mb with android 2.3.4 8/10, it use part of the external memory, when you install gingerbread, it does the installation automatically. UPDATE and UNLOCK= super easy on modaco website.10/10 BLUETOOTH= work only to send pic and music, didn't really use it.8/10 RADIO=OK, sound is low, need good earphone.7/10 EXTERNAL SPEAKER= good, loud, is on the right side, not behind 8/10 WEBBROWSER= native android, work well. fast. 8/10 for 100euro, it s a fantastic phone! I have it since 6 weeks now , and I really like it.

 • no, when you switch prg, it doesnt run at all, it use only some memory, but dont use battery at all. u dont need to use a task killer on the blade, task killer use more battery, because open and closing program use more than just having prg sitting there in the background. try it, open 15 prg, you will make over a day with light use...

 • That's a very good price, where did you buy it?

 • all about the Blade: blade.modaco.com

 • Got my Orange San Francisco for £84.99 including £10 top up. The price is a bargain for a phone with these specifications and considering you can even unlock it for free and upgrade to Android 2.2 makes the price even better. The camera in my opinion is very good in good lighting, however is very poor with artificial lighting at night and there is also no flash. I also don't like the multi-tasking, which you need to open the task manager to switch to your other applications and re-open it again to switch again. The battery drains quite rapidly and daily charging will most likely be required. Other than that, cool phone running Android and probably the best new phone you can buy for under £100.

 • how did you upgrade it to 2.2 plzzz telll

 • how did u upgrade it to 2.2 ???

 • try this ROM and report after that

 • I just bought one for my daughter, it really is a very good phone for the money, seems more responsive that samsung galaxy ace and htc wildfire and a pile of other phones I tried, very good value, I did upgrade it to 2.2, if it ships you should consider this, but do this at your own risk as there is the possibility of killing it.

 • Yeah, but no Iplayer or Flash can be installed on this one...wrong ARM chip!

 • get the zte, it s cheap. the best phobe i ever had...

 • well here in venezuela the optimus one dont is cheap but i dont thin this zte is coming out i going to be cheap so...for my fisrt android, zte blade (2.1 ver. / normal screen)vs the optimus one... what i should do? :7 sorry bad english

 • It's not a tough decision really! Android vs Symbian? For your own sake, pick Android! ZTE is a great phone and rather easy to Root to a custom ROM as well.

 • go ZTE, dont think... i am very happy with it.

 • Hi,can u help me ..i can't decide which one to buy this or nokia c5-03...please help me..ty

 • you have to insert a sim card from another operator, take one of your friend, just to unlock it. if not, look on modaco website for assistance

 • I got my IMEI, and also got 8 digit unlock code.. But after inserting sim, and then opening, it does not ask for any code. Now the problem is that where will i put the code? I even unable to enter into many options in settings like Mobile network, status etc. Do u think that it is due to upgarding it to 2.2 ? Should i get back to 2.1? Or i may try others?

 • u can install ginger bread vanilla 2.3 (modaco).

 • This is the best phone I ever owned. I had the zte blade with LCD screen and not AMOLED Advantages: +Price (120 euros) +High resolution capacitive multi-touch screen with good brightness and high responsiveness and accuracy +Android 2.2 is good and has no other UI above it which makes it quick +Good amount of RAM memory and decent processor, allows for good gameplay and video playback (I have tested up to VGA resolution with both native video player and the seaman player, and games such as PES 2011) +Decent music playback Disadvantages -Camera -Battery-life All in all, I would definitely give this phone a 9/10 in overall score. If you want a better phone, you´ll have to add at least 80 euros to get such a phone.

 • Good phone, but have this problems Low battery time No camera flash No front camera

 • This is my firs android phone, so I cannot really compare. So far and in general I like it. One annoying problem: The audio sound from the 3.5mm audio jack is fine for headphones, but when connecting to an AUXiliary device such as car-radio system, the resulted volume is very weak, even when maximizing volumes on both (phone & car-radio) devices. There are some suggestions on the web for remedy this by headphone amplifiers (such as FiiO E5). Though some reports say that this gadgets are good for improving quality only for headphones, but not for AUXiliary-devices gain. I wonder if there are better solutions. May be the phone hardware is capable of pushing appropriate power for AUXiliary-devices but the current OS/kernel is not utilizing it? Any insights from this forum would be appreciated.

 • one sim card, no video call , doesn't have front cam.

 • seem you have to unlock your sim card, or try to use another sim(even a deactivated), check on modaco zte website how to unlock.

 • I'm having a great problem...i inserted my sim card, it didn't ask for any code..rather it says No service. For ur information, i upgraded it into 2.2 i previously used wi-fi and it worked but when i tried to use Mobile network, i'm unable to do that. I'm so sad.. I dunno what to do.. I cant make any phone call. Plz help me..

 • this is a dual sim or singal sim? this phone work video calling?

 • nice.

 • you can find it here..

 • got a blade a few days ago, and love it. installed swedish spring , but would like to have adhoc connection, if someone know how to get adhoc, please report. camera is slow, but just ok.dont expect too much from the camera. the screen is very nice. 80 pounds or 110$.

 • how to install drivers for zte blade(orange san francisco)for the pc or where to find those. thank you!

 • how is the build quality of that spice mi 410!!,,..is it true that soon it'll get gingerbread,,,..but in spice hot spot i verified they are sayin still stock not available n don know it's future upgrades!!,,..

 • The price its very good, work very good, but unfortunely its not compatible with Flash Player thats way i cant see news on tv live, etc

 • This is a lovely phone, light, slim & very pretty. Upgraded to Android 2.2 & all apps work just fine. Games run quite well too. Only drawback is memory size, had to install Move2SD so apps are automatically installed on SD. Lack of camera flash is another downer. Otherwise it's a steal (great deal) for the price of the phone..

 • Okay guys, Looks like the blade has a competitor as a Value For Money Android Smartphone. The Huawei Ideos U9000 is available in India as the Spice Mi-410 for Rs 14000 with 12 months manufacturer warranty. For that price, you get a 1Ghz CPU, 4.1 inch LCD, 14.4Mbps HSDPA, 5MP primary and VGA secondary camera. Check out this link:

 • yups....someone was able to put 3.0 but many functionality missing and slowish interface...waiting for stable 2.3.......2.3 great on my galaxy s.....CM7 on my blade now.....

 • i want one phone model ZTE Blade

 • i know but there are more and more rumors coming about the blade being upgradable to honeycomb this isnt true is it.

 • OK.......good ur prob was solved.....and as its gen 1 u have many options of roms......:)

 • The issue is resolved the reason was it was a gen2 rom i was loading on a gen1 handset. The issue was solved as i could not get the handset to boot and recover the rom but the problem is sorted now managed to get the clockwork recovery working to restore the gen1 rom. :)

 • No, but you can download one from android market

 • did you check the gen (1 or 2) of the device and did you check the compatibility of the rom you installed with your device

 • yes.......rebranded by dell as XCD35

 • is it possible to turn off the sound of the camera?

 • right here is the issue i just purchased yesterday a san francisco(ZTE Blade) for my gf yesterday and tried to istall the custom rom for 2.3.3 on the handset following the steps posted on youtube to get the to change the rom to custom rom however when doing this the handset should go through the boot up however the handset is just restarting itself. when trying to do the factory reset on the phone it now no longer resets and just reboots itself has anyone got any suggestions?

 • Make a backup, then put the CM7.03 version from recovery manager, do not reboot, and use the converter genI to genII. After all you can reboot and should work. Tutorial at Modaco and cyanogen mod websites

 • This is Available in kenya at any Orange shop for 12,355/= shillings which is around £88.

 • Because thats all it has, The other ram is used by Video/Radio chips

 • Ask your telco

 • Change you APN settings. Simple

 • Forget Quadrants, Its all BS. Also there's no way that a 600mhz two old generation CPU @ 600mhz will beat a 1ghz newer generation CPU with a way faster GPU. What you are buying is a mid range phone which can no way compare to a high end device.

 • You can buy it in from flipkart.com - it's sold as the Dell XCD35

 • here is the topic about upgrading blade to gen2 and installind cm7 onto it. after completing the steps download the latest nightly build and install it via clockworkmod recovery. it is all very simple - just follow the steps in this guide and few others on the modaco blade subforum.

 • how do you install 2.2 on zte blade i need help wich place do you get it from thanks rayman

 • I installed 2.2 swedish rom and my phone is gen 1. now I want to upgrade to 2.3.3 cyanogen mod 7 RC4. please guide

 • dell xcd35

 • I also purchased last week at the same price (95+20=115) but it is on sale now from Orange (70+10=80 pounds) did u feel any bugs in 2.3 Gingerbread update i installed 2.2, but now want to upgarde to 2.3 pls guide

 • Awesome. Your comment has convinced me to seriously look at buying this phone. Thanks a million.

 • I have recentle git Orange San Francisco, rooted and updated foryo 2.2 (Swedish ROM) i cant connect my laptop via usb tethering or wifi tethering but no data traffic or no website opening. what is the settings to run internet on laptop through my san francisco pls guide

 • this phone is available in india. after a lot of searching i was able to find out

 • This Smartphone is not/rarely available in India. Please suggest if anyone knows where its available in India, coz I like it although its OS is not up-to-date but by rooting and applying cyanogen-mod 7 its OS will be updated to Gingerbread that is Android 2.3 and I'll do anything to buy it if its available in India. After you have applied Cyanogen-mod 7, its performance is said to be better than Samsung Galaxy S - I9000 as compared in Quadrant benchmark. And its screen resolution - 480 X 800 px - is just less than that of IPhone 4 - 640 X 960 px.

 • can anyone tell me if this phone have windows live messenger as default installed...?

 • For those who have just bought their phone or intend to get a new one, this is the link you need to debrand your phone. It will upgrade your phone from Gen1 to Gen2 (do install Mr. Pigfish first to confirm that your phone is indeed Gen1 or you will brick it), and install Android 2.3.3 (CM7). It is really quite easy and CM7 is a very solid and stable ROM for me.

 • Hi there, I have a ZTE Blade from Orange in the UK. I am having trouble sending SMS messages when in 3G although I can receive them. They send ok when in 2G only mode so not sure what might be causing this. Also, it won't connect to the app market, it keeps saying it can't connect and to try again later. I have an active data connection and WIFI as well. Any ideas on how to fix this would be much appreciated. Cheers

 • You have too turn on the feature Under "Options / Display / Auto rotate (check the box)"

 • Recently purchased this phone from Orange UK £94 +£20 top-up. Debranded and rooted and installed Cyanogen Mod 7 RC 4 (Gingerbread 2.3.3). Really impressed with this phone great screen (LCD Version) and plays Angry Birds ,no problem. I find that the battery life has improved with this installed mod, although still needs charging every day, but then my iPhone 3GS is the same. Would give this phone 8 out of 10 with current mod.

 • Excellent phone rooted and running cyanogenmod 7. HTC HD2 long gone. Very very happy

 • why don't it rotate on the home screen it supposed to do it????

 • Why is it only reported as having 420mb ram in system info?

 • how to update zte blade to cyanogenmod 7 stable

 • great phone!!! if somebody's having problem finding the full skype version for this phone try this.It worked for me well!

 • this zte blade is not yet available in the philippines yet. but i know smart will be selling them soon. exactly i don't know but i am still waiting for them to sell it soon so i can buy. it will cost about 7k in the philippines from what i have read online.

 • Anyone selling? +254722136702

 • please how can i send music from the zte blade to another phone?

 • please can anybody tell me where can i buy this zte blade mobile in philippines..

 • @Hasnaat yes. i bought an Orange San Francisco from Argos in the UK yesterday. today it is unlocked and running debranded Android 2.2 (Japanese Jellyfish 9). just follow the instructions at android[dot]modaco[dot]com. @Anonymous they are not official. they are builds of android that clever people have built from the source code.

 • Thanks for guidng in detail but if it is not G1/Gen1 then can't we debrand it at all or some other way to debrand?

 • I bought this phone for a very low price, originally £99.99 from Tescos minus £20 in vouchers, I got it for £79.99. There is an offer on at the moment where you get £10 off any item when you spend £50 or more online. I digress, on with my experiance. I found the overall build quality of the phone to be above adverage, it is plastic and so is the screen cover. I do however find that the phone becomes almost slippy with a build up of fingerprints, so be careful when holding it. My version of the phone came with the LCD instead of the OLED, which I was fine with as I have only ever used LCD-screened phones. I have had problems with the battery, obviously the more apps you have running the quicker the battery life discharges so I have downloaded a task "killer" or manager from the Android Market. I find that I have to charge the phone every day and that I have to leave it on overnight because it is also my morning alarm, which does not sound if the phone is switched off. I have unlocked and de-branded this handset and have used both 2.1 and 2.2 with it, and I can safetly say that 2.2 will drain the battery off quicker than 2.1, so you may want to stay away from that. Please do not try to de-brand your handsets as you may "brick" them. As with any phone, especially touchscreens, I have bought a screen protector from eBay (two for £1.90) please, please, please buy a screen protector! I am very impressed with this phone and would rate it 7 out of 10. The bad points being battery life.

 • Unlocking is extremely simple. Debranding and/or upgrading the OS is only moderately difficult, actually instructions to do so are very detailed, all you need to do is follow the steps exactly and you'll have no issues.

 • Is it really so easy process to unlock, debrand and 2.2 update?

 • you know when you upgraded to 2.2 was it an official update or unofficial?

 • what?? serious;ly what was that you just typed? I have this phone and it is fantastic. I have already debranded it and installed Froyo 2.2 which was very easy to do. The value for money on this handset is amazing. It gets a 10/10 for me. Only downside(and it is a small downside) is that the battey takes a little longer than your average phone to charge.

 • 1- yes 2- 1 day heavy use, 2/3 regular 3- no 4- yes

 • It has live wallpapers, multitouch, gyroscope. It has no flash player though. Works pretty good, the sensor is okay, but i don't really feel the RAM memory - it lacks a bit.

 • Orange sell them and they seem to have more in stock now the hype has calmed down

 • 1- Does it support live wallpapers? 2- How is its battery life with LCD version? 3- Does it has gyroscope 4- does its screen support multitouch input

 • is the battery life really that poor ?

 • I love this phone. Definately a best choice for those android phone newbies.

 • i was just wondering how is the battery the thing that is bodering me is the 4 h talk time does this mean that if a play for aprox. 2 h the battery will run down? thank you in advance!

 • With regards to messaging- I am not a techie person. Does anyone know how to set the messages to SMS texts - as it appears that all the texts i am sending/forwarding are going as MMS Help please PS: the phone is great

 • where abouts did u buy this phone in uk i want to import these phones to australia in large quataties

 • Said it before GSM Arena had this phone listed, it is the best-of-the-best! Thank-you Orange, (aka Orange San Francisco) for selling me the latest Blade! Thought the new lcd screen, would be not as good as the oled version, I was WRONG! It beats in my opinion the SLCD in the HTC Desire that they changed to, it's BRIGHTER. Do ZTE get their screens from say Samsung for the Amoled, or some form of SLCD? How do ZTE manage this at the price, love to knoe. Heard rumours that the Chinese Gov't subsidised the company, tell you what they make darn good phones. At £99, it's a bargain too, if it cost £250 I would still buy one. If your looking for a phone this is the business. Maybe some other of the UK networks should start selling some of the latest ZTE phones too.

 • Great phone! I bought mine in UK for 160 USD. Blades as of 2010 will not work with AT&T because they do not have 850Mhz.Maybe soon??

 • what is the price of that phone unlocked in usa and where i can get it in usa

 • In India, the ZTE Blade is sold as Dell XCD35. You can see it here: Here is a review from India in English:

 • The most popular smart phone made by ZTE... checkout why

 • Hey! how did you change the OS to Froyo? x

 • Check out this forum There are detailed instructions on how to get an OSF from the UK to india. Note: as the thread now says, do NOT order from prepaymania.co.uk because they do not ship to aramex addresses. I myself bought from prepaymania because i didn't want to ship to india, sent to a friend in london who then brought it down to bombay.

 • Nice phone and one my friend using it in UK. I need to know where can I buy this in India and any sites which can ship to India... Thx in adv!

 • Bought this phone after having a t-mobile pulse mini and for £89 it is nice! good amount of memory, easy to unlock and easy to change the rom to 2.2 froyo. Very nice phone and I am very pleased with it

 • Upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.1 !! This is a release-candidate, and IMO it's not really usable as a daily phone, but it's great to test out. The graphics are amazing, both with and without ADW launcher, the next generation of android OS is here for the blade ! Here's the link on how to download and upgrade:

 • do you ever touch it ?

 • the wifi connection quality depends on the rom you use if you like to update it to 2.2 i just bought it and i cant tell too much about construction props . thou it looks well put together the screen is nice but a little blueish color comparing to LG Optimus One which have a "wither" white i have to say there is a big difference between Blade running 2.1 and 2.2 i just love it on 2.2

 • I own this phone. It is awesome. I cannot find a single review on the internet giving it any less than 9/10. You're wrong. Get over it.

 • how often does the wifi gets disconnected. is it like every one minute of use. i like the features of this phone. i don't care about camera and video quality. i just like how fast the phone is and how nice the build quality is and also the wifi option as i love to use the internet. can i install SWYPE here.

 • No, still no official, just rumors.

 • Please guys help me! I can't find Angy Birds on Market, only Angry Birds Seasons! There is no Angry Birds, even when i search i can't find the game! Why that happends? And i downloaded AB Seasons but its working slow, some levels work ok but some more complex work slow. Is that normal?! Please help. Other than that i love my Blade!

 • Dear all, Thank you so much for ur reply my question. I have another qustion why i can not watch youtube in fullscreen mode? Thank you in advance all you guys Regards Kenny

 • how it takes batteries

 • How can you upgrade to 2.2 without a custom rom, is there an official one?

 • No, it can not, yet...only 2.2.1 for now.

 • there are probably on modaco custom rom for zte blade , i don't think you need 2.3 first you need to put 2.2

 • Can anyone tell me that the phone can upgrade to 2.3? I am about to purchase this phone soon. Please help to answer my question above. Regards, kenny

 • other way around. dell rebranded zte blade to its own and put higher price then blades.

 • Seems familiar....Hmmm!!!...Got it...Its, DELL XCD 35 !!!

 • Nice to see someone talking sense :)

 • I bought this from orange in white. First thing i did was unlock it (free here - Then headed over to MoDaCo forums and upgraded to Froyo 2.2 to get rid of all the Orange rubbish. Have to say for the money this has to probably be the best phone you can get!!

 • It's sad, but true. I had a similar situation in Dec 2005 (Or was it 2006) When I gave an O2 XM phone as a present. I got it back, and the girl told me in a temper that she wanted a proper brand! (Nokia or Motorola) (This was before the IPhone & androids) Not a network own brand CRAP!

 • When i try and recieve a bluetooth file , i always recieve a ' not enough memory ' mesage , i have a memory card inserted with available free memory so why does this happen , im assuming its tring to store it in the very low phone memory instead , how do i solve this prob ? great phone by the way , screen resoluton is brilliant .

 • Google search "£71.96 Orange San Fransico Go Mobile" Nothing, Nada, Nil, Not a peep... If this was for real there would be pages of links. In other words stop posting false claims to get people into your shops, so you can sell them a useless expensive 24 month contract!

 • Very gud phone.... nice touch interface.. and value for money is amazing.. i just love this phone !!

 • Hi. Where did you manage to buy your ZTE for 89.99 unlocked? I thought, as someone suggested Go Mobile, that they would have the Blade but they only sell the Orange version San Francisco which is locked. Thanks

 • Hi Magnus, The only people who slate this phone, are people who payed triple the price for their HTC or similar! It was a very clever marketing technique by ZTE, to release and probably lose money on the AMOLED versions, then replace the display with LED LCDS (which is still great value).

 • You'd be an ungratefully git then! Oh and how the hell does it give android a bad name. Thats like someone using a flavor of linux on a emachine as apposed to a alienware rig. I would see differing performances on the two machines but I wouldn't blame the OS for those differences. Muppet.

 • I can't believe anyone actually buys this crap. The specs are repugnant. This is the kind of piece of sh-- phone that gives android a black eye. If you buy this and expect some functional level of performance you must be kidding yourself. I'd never forgive someone if they gave this thing to me as a gift.

 • I've learnt that too, since I posted my comment. Although I still stand by my evaluation of the device that it is the best handset on the market in the respect of Price vs Spec/performance!

 • The quadrant score of 900 is not real, there is an issue with stagefright apis on the ZTE blade and this causes quadrant to skip the tests and report an incorrect score.

 • How will you get the official 2.2 in sweden, but theres been a lot of speculation that it is not being released in england?

 • Hi ThePhoneShop, This deal isn't listed on their website, how can they do this cheaper than Orange themselves, or are you being facetious :-)

 • I am really astounded with this phone. Bought for 89.99 UK pounds, Unlocked free. headed over to MoDaCo forums and installed really stable froyo rom. Quadrant score of 900+ consistantly! Cant think of another phone ive ever had that has so much bang for buck. Oh camera and build quality not up to much but everything else is superb!

 • The phone has been on offer at Go Mobile stores across the UK for £71.96 + £10.00 Credit. Should have got it there. :)

 • I bought mine from an orange shop - the handset was £100 but it had to be purchased with £20 top up. Argos in the UK have just started stocking the San Francsico on orange PAYG for £90. you will have to buy £10 top up tho. still, at 100 quid all in, its a bloomin' bargin! HTC wildfire is the next comparable phone but that costs £50-£70 pounds more. the wildfire has a slower processor, less ram, a lower screen res - BUT its build quality is better, as is the camera. plus HTC sense is present. my choice every time would be the blade - my mates wildfire crashes as much as my satio did!

 • Battery life - from 100% to zero with high use i managed to kill it in about 8 hours. this was with screen brightness set to 25% and mobile data turned on only when required. gps, bluetooth and wifi were also off. from zero to 100% the battery charges in about 4 hours (with out using the handset). but a useable charge can be achieved in 2 hours or so.

 • How is the battery life. And I mean, from 100% to zero. And how long does it take to recharge zero to 100%

 • It will get official 2.2 in Sweden

 • Many folks on here are talking about 160mb internal memory... the Orange San Francisco variant i have in the UK has 512mb internal with an micro SD card slot. as for a froyo update - there is no official update coming that i can see.. however there are folks out there that have done all the trickery needed to perform the upgrade I would reccomend sticking to 2.1 android until such time that a official or stable update arrives. oh, after two weeks of running the device i finally pusshed it to far - it restarted yesterday after i tried asking it to multitask - music play back, angry birds, text reply and then interent access followed by an angry birds freeze up and restart that i didnt instigate. OH MY GOD i hear you say! but hey, phones crash every now and then, it happanes, and for a 100 pound device to do it once in two weeks when my 500 pound satio was restarting several times DAILY proves the value of this handset.

 • removing the orange software skin and making the san francisco network free are two sepearte issues. i have only removed the orange software skins form the device to help optimise its usage. i'm a orange customer who became annnoyed that my satio was failing regularly. i would imagine a independant store would be able to make it network free but have no experiance on this matter.

 • isn't upgrading to 2.2, i thought it was.

 • amazing phone, i've had for about 2 months and runs smoothly. Amazing for 100 pounds plus its android as well. Its tough and durable, but the only down side is the 160 mb internal phone storage. Brilliant for what you get, i would recommend it to people who has just come to android, final thing, will it be able to be upgraded to android v2.2 (froyo)?

 • How easy is it to get rid of the Orange stuff? Will an independent phone store unlock it?

 • UPDATE to my previous post. i have now lived with the Blade (sanfrancisco) for a week or so now and i'd like to highlight a few points that may assist you further in making your phone choice. With the orange software removed the device is MUCH faster and capable. i have customized the home screens with dozens of free apps and widgets to suit my social networking and organisational needs. The android market is full of really useful free stuff such as a battery meter, clocks/time&date and switches to ensure that mobile data is turned off when not needed (this helps the battery life) the battery life is average, with average use (checking facebook, dowloading emails and angry birds over lunch) not to mention calling and texting, the devices battery was down to 30% by the end of the day... however, the usb data cable enables the device to be charged from a desktop computer of other usb socket (in my case the usb on my car stereo which also enables acces to the music on the memory card!) oh - and if you do choose this product, buy a case of some kind! i dropped mine and the back came away form the body spilling the battery onto the floor! do'h. (again as in previous post i will raise the price of this device! 100 GPB!)

 • yes, there are apps on the android market that can be downloaded. some are free but the best will cost a small fee.

 • Does the phone sync with mac? Thanks

 • it would if it was more optimised then x10 and it is. Because all the modifications are havy and slow down the processor , so i guess it is better to have somthing lower clock with none modifications and the best optimisation even when blade has full multitouch screen and x10 hasn't got it.

 • i'm not supporting sony ericsson, but you clearly forgot about the x10, and that definetly wouldn't be beaten by a qualcomm 600 mhz processor :)

 • Perfect price/quality rate. In Finland, 96 euros. Qualcomm 600mhz processor that beats i.e. all nokia e- and n- series phones and sony-ericsson xperia-class-phones. Only negative thing is that battery is normal li-ion 1250mA so it is 192h standby time and 4h talk-time. i bought it on first sight and threw my sony-ericsson xperia X1 straight away.

 • 179euro in Slovenia.

 • the blade (orange san francisco) is my first experiance with a droid device. having grown tired of my satio crashing every time i looked at it i figured what the hell, 100 quid for a phone to last me out a few months until my upgrade. for 100 pounds this device has amazed me. the camera is shockingly bad, but again ONE HUNDRED pounds. the screen is amazing for this price range. stick a large sd card in it for your apps tho, on board memory is pathatic (again i'll point out the price). if your looking to upgrade your symbian or 'dumb' (and are on a budget or impatient for an upgrade) phone you CANNOT got wrong with this device. if you get the orange variant a quick google search and 63pence will get you the means to rip that orange out of there! and presto. pure google 2.1 (upgraded to 2.2). the screen is sluggish every now and then, and you'll need to raid the apstore to pimp it appropriatly. and yeah it crashed when i tried to do to many things at once. but again, 100 quid. if this is the tip of the ice berg i cannot wait to upgrade to a 2.3 1ghz device in june.

 • for the above shouter.. whoa.. iPhone looks like the Zeus's phone fallen into the earth.. but that was Fake ! iPhone is the most expensive phone ever ! ATTENTION, for every CHILD,PARENTS,and GRANDPARENTS, also AUNT and UNCLE, dont ever buy an iPhone for ur son/daughter, it worst with the price, d**n f**k it !!

 • haha. iphone 4 approx £500. ZTE Blade £100.

 • Wow Iphone is better?:) Yes, little better. Now let's talk about the prices... And the winner is Blade with a 1st round K.O.! :D San francisco aka Blade aka Base lutea is the same inside.

 • iphone better. iphone 3,3gs 4 beats blade.iphone win

 • san francisco: if your looking for something cheap; it definitely offers nearly EVERYTHING that a top of the range android phone provides at a seemingly samlly fraction of the price. or iphone: its build quality is AWESOME and is really easy to use and responds with precise accuracy and there`s alot you can buy off the App store which would go along great with the phone. BTW i own the san francisco and i gotta say - it is magnificent and is a great value for money if you consider what it is providing within the phone for that price. the only down side is it`s not getting a 2.2 (froyo) update.

 • If you want to buy this phone in greece and if you want to upgate this to 512mb sent to my email:[email protected]

 • which phone is beteer iphone or san francisco..... help me

 • hey i just got these phone zte blade and i have had for sometime an i think it is amazing the colours on the screen are spectacular the yellow is yellow the green is green yeh you get my point. goods: apps ammmazing, wigets awsome and so on bad you might not get servie at first but all you have to do is reset your phone, the camera is not to good either but it is alright.

 • All you need to know about this phone and loads of custom roms 2.1 and 2.2:

 • It's an awesome phone, no complaints at all. Super Sleek and easy to use. :D

 • I am looking for it in Katerini but no shop has it. I have to go to Thessaloniki in order to buy it... Yea it costs 159.95 euros in Greece.

 • upgrade from 256 to 512 ram

 • How you upgrade it to 512 mb ?You pay for that and if yes how much ,patrioti !

 • i'm about to buy this phone, but it's 256mb version, how did you upgrade yours???

 • I have the 256mb blade but i upgrate my blade to 512mb! Its a very good and fast smartphone and i can play hd games with this phone! I buy this phone 159 in greece!

 • @ ANTHONY FERNANDES, You need to use a navigation app/programme,or Google Maps, for it to be of any use.

 • Does the GPS system works without any addtional gadget or do we need something extra to operate the GPS systemm in ZTE BLADE

 • There is a way, you can search the modaco forums. There is a fix made from the Hungarian ROM (and it will be probably released in Hungary within January)

 • The phone can easily be unlockerd to all networks by spending 50 rupees. You can easilt get such codes on eBay or grey market. Its not difficult. The difficult part is the shipping. U will have to deal with the exobitant shipping price along with the custom duties. Sometimes, u may not even get the phone due to customs and could be lost in the transit. Indian postal system ( including private couries) are very bad and they won't help u in tracking it once its lost in customs or in transite. To avoid this, you'll have to buy insurance which will cost you 15 pounds more. If you take a look at the total cost after so many hassles, it will come down to rs.12 k - rs. 13 k. Remember, the new models dont even have super smoled screem. The new screen is TFT which is inferior to super amoled. To add more tto this, it wont carry international warranty which means you will have to deal it urself is anything happens to your mobile phone. You cant even return it as the sellers selling these phones dont accept returns. Dell is a big brand and they know their business. This is the reason they have priced it at rs.16k. However, I do agree that the launch of LG optimus one and Motorola XT5 will affect their sales. I'm sure it will bring down the price by 2 - 3 k in the next 3 months

 • Does the Orange San Francisco have Docs to go pre-installed or do I have to install it???

 • Dear friend SUNDRAGONCN, is there any way, someone who's got ZTE Blade to unlock the rest of the memory since it is 512?? By the way, could you be more specific about DT rule? what is that? Cheers!

 • **good** great oled screen fast 600mhz cpu (for the price) 512 mb ram prices (£100) **bad** build quality

 • Thanx mate and Merry Xmas

 • ALL RAM IS 512M ,just limited by DT rule

 • all RAM of BLADE is 512M,but just limited by DT rule .

 • if you get it tell me what do you think, i am with the same dilemma should i switch iphone 3g for that phone

 • you can get it from a UK site and get it shipped to india via some shipping service (like aramex, etc). Will be arnd 9k total

 • Launched in India at Dell XCD35 . Available at street price of 15,000 Rs.

 • also available in portugal, tmn carrier under the name "tmn sapo a5" sapo stands for "toad" lolz

 • @Manoj, You cant buy this phone in India. Its available only in UK I guess....

 • pls post the link now !

 • omg dude why?!

 • In the manual for this phone, it claims the maximum SAR is 1.35W/Kg

 • It is using TFT in UK Orange version now.

 • Available from Orange on PAYG in the UK with a TFT screen - called the Orange San Francisco £99!

 • What is the sar of the zte blade? I have looked all over the internet and lots of totally different sar ratings are given for the zte blade, some say sar=0.9 and other sites say sar=1.45 sar is an important factor in choosing a mobile phone. the android phone Optimus One 500 has a sar on this site of sar=0.45 that is very low compared to every other android phone. But no websites agree on zte blade sar rating. could gsmarena.com please give a sar rate for zte blade?

 • Hi friends i want to purchase this handset in india waht is the cost and where to buy it from..... Can anyone help me... Thanx

 • im swapping my iphone for this phone. hopefully it is worth it ;)

 • At a pinch it will play Asphalt 5 (Close all other apps), Runs Raging Thunder 2 almost perfect, and will just play nfsmw (low on memory, but just plays), so yes. Ironsight is perfect though and Wave Racer almost faultless, so yes!

 • God Bless ZTE, still love this phone. Wrote about it before it was shown on GSM Arena, and thank GSM Arena for giving it space. It is not as I initially thought a 'poor man's HTC Desire', it is great in its own right. I actually prefer this phone to the desire, I still think the screen is BETTER, looked at the two side by side often and can state that the ZTE Blade's screen is A. Brighter and B. is more scratch resistant. So HTC, why are you so expensive? Better Audio and faster processor, that's it to me. Ok the power button is fidly on Blade, and back cover not perfect, but its a 1/4 of the price of a desire. Well done ZTE, cannot wait for your next phone! (Ps, please don't put lcd screens in these phones). Pps, I like your racer too, Ok its SLOW, has a resistive screen, and does scratch easily, but its got style and for a casual phone thats cheap and plays mp4 movies and good for navigation, its great value.

 • does this mobile have 3d acceleration? my hero dosn't!

 • Awsome phone, 2/3 the power of nexus one, and 1/5 the price, also has a great support forum for removing bloatware and flashing here: http://android.modaco.com/category/453/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/

 • where did u find that kind of information pleas share with us the link pls?

 • not anymore...

 • I learn from friend in ZTE blade with Android 2.2 will first launch in bulgaria Feb next year.I just bought it in Hungary, every thing is ok except it only Eclair not Froyo, looking forward it can been upgrade to Android 2.2 with Hungary version.

 • unfortunately Yes thats why i am trying to find Uk version also Uk version has amoled screen not tft

 • Greek version has 256 MB RAM :(

 • Wrong sentece Samsung isn't only manufacturer who is making amoled screens for cellphones. It's only manufacturer for super amoled screens.

 • Amoled isn't the only manfacturer who is making amoled screeens for cell phones. UK oled => amoled screen and for all versions memory of mobile phone is 200 mb but that isn't ram memory.

 • @ legnaw, It is...it's an Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode screen..and it's made by Samsung, so.......

 • Hungarian T-Mobile declared only 200MB memory

 • WHERE has blade amoled??? ive seen only OLED (as Orange SanFrancisco) or TFT (f.e. Hungary)

 • No official Froyo-update yet, but there should be one within a month or so. Got one of these yesterday and had to recharge after 18h of use (2h Angry Birds, 2h surfing the web over 3G) Guess I need to get some software to help the battery last longer.

 • Finland version has Tft screen , 512 ram and 5 Mpix camera (189 ), Hungarian version has Tft screen, 256 or 512 ram and 3 mpix camera (36091= 130 ), UK version has Amloled screen, 512 ram and 3 Mpix camera (99 £ = 117.60 ). Can someone tell me what is corect amount of RAM for hungarian version of zte blade ? Second why is there that much differece between thes models which are basicly Same mobile phone from one manufacturer?

 • Has Froyo been brought to this smartphone, or are they working on it (officially)?

 • AS someone told before, the Hungarian models have 256MB (and TFT +3,2MP cam) only. /with some gradient display eror and sometimes (sub)pixel errors/

 • What about Ram of these two models? I know that UK version has 512 ram but i don't know about hungaryan or other.

 • It is true that there are different versions of this phone. It also seems that the phone is no longer being produced with a AMOLED screen. In the UK, it is reported that Orange have begun shipping phones(both Grey+White versions) with TFT screens rather than AMOLED. However it is still capacitive and 800x480 resolution.

 • Ppl on forums said that there are few specifications of this model in Europe - "Orange" (OLED screen+3mpx) and "Original ZTE" (tft screen+5mpx). Another one issue - some phones has problems with touch screen (could be returned to seller - guarantee covers). So the question is - is that true about 2nd specs (tft+5mpx)? Another one Chinese tricks? ;)

 • I was going to install android 2.2 on my phone but i read the reviews and they arent good. people have said that the icons appear smaller and so does the keypad, making it quite hard to type. Im just waiting and hoping that they bring a newer version of Android out for this phone, as it seems pretty slow compared to the 2.2 platform

 • Just got this from saunalahti and it has indeed 5 mega pixel camera :)

 • can someone please help. when my zte goes into recovery it says "Android system recovery " on the top, you cant select anything. I want to install froyo on this, please help me.

 • In Saunalahti(FI) pages the camera is mentioned to be 5.0 Mpix whereas on your pages it says 3.15 Mpix?! Samsung Galaxy Spica camera with 3.15 Mpix is horrible, totally unbearable. If ZTE Blade goes on 3.15M and the same chips as Spica, you can just forget it about the camera...

 • What are the differences between zte blade (on t mobile except display tft) and zte blade aka orange san francisco ( amoled screen), maybe ram on orange version it is 512 ? For dude from slovenia (t mobile hungary has zte blade) so i guess there or if u go to france or uk buy san francisco on orange network or u can always buy it from ebay or amazone.

 • There's no problem. It comes with a 2 GB MicroSD and it supports MicroSD cards up to 32 GB!

 • @ Anonymous I had exactly the same problem. It is all down to drivers for this phone. If you go into Device Manager you will see that there are drivers missing. The answer is to do what I had to. Go to the following link for the solution, It worked for me.

 • If camera's quality being apart of my consideration it's strong value smart phone for 159 euro at Greece. At that price it is affordable to buy someone new phone every year.

 • Can someone please help me on getting clockwork recovery on this phone. First I downloaded fastboot. I put the phone on fastboot mode and put into pc. I opened command prompt and typed in "recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-blade.img" and pressed enter.....power iso opens up and is says the format is invalid. Next in the command prompt I wrote "fastboot windows" with its correct directory.... it then shows a list of things in the command prompt that makes it look like the phone is ready for clockwork recovery. However the phone does not load up in clockwork recovery but it show the letters "FTM" in a white box.

 • There is two kinds of this cellphone and they both have 150 mb it isn't the problem lots of android phone have same or lover amount of memory for usage. Ram memory is the crucial thing. If u put 2.2 version of android u wouldn't have any problems with xour device. Can someone confirm that t mobile version has 512 ram or less because it has (tft screen) and organge version has 512 ram and (amoled screen)?

 • Please review this phon GSMarena..its of great interest to a lots of ppl..

 • Are there any issues with the default internal memory being only 150Mb? I heard that ZTE blade in some countries will be providing the internal memory of 512Mb. My question is that could there be any performance degradation of having a very small internal memory or it would not matter as long as I could add a bigger micro SD card for external memory? Is internal memory implies to RAM only? So what could be the performance difference if there are two ZTE Blade phones side-by-side both having 16Gb external memory but one having 150Mb internal memory & the other having 512Mb internal memory...?

 • Can you tell me then how much ram dose t-mobile version have? Orange version has 512 ram and amoled screen.

 • Yes, I can confirm that T-Mobile Hungary sells the weaker version. Actually I bought this phone in Hungary.

 • did you installed froyo on n8?!?

 • I really like their naming system. I myself have a ZTE Vegas (50 $). A low end phone with every essential option a 'phone' should have. ZTE is mainly popular because of the cheap prices of their phones and overall nice functionality an user can expect from a phone. I'm sad because this one is not available in my country. Otherwise i'll try to give it a try.

 • I have use this phone five days now, and its best phone ever in price/quality what i know. (117 - in finland) Battery runs about 1-2 days, depending how much you use it. Lcd screen is sharp and bright. No lagging issues, so this 600mhz prosessor does the job good.

 • cpu isn't the main thing that is powering and giving juce for graphics it's gpu and ram memory ofc rom is also needed so all together is crucial. Other than cpu is great so for that kind of money this device is great.

 • sounds incredible for that price! but i wonder if the 600mhz can handle 800X480 screen with no slowing or any kind of problems,, if it only had a 800mhz,, but hey, for 200$ u should not ask for much! just waiting to see a video of this baby and if it works ok, then let it be!

 • where did you find the custom rom for this device? any news on the official update?

 • hi dose any 1 now haw to put the phone on to android 2.2

 • where i can get this cellphone in indonesia?

 • Funny, this is probaly the best phone ever for that price, but not that much intrest cause it's zte? Lol excellent phone, with froyo rom its UI is faster than even the N8.

 • Funny, this is probaly the best phone ever for that price, but not that much intrest cause it's zte? Lol excellent phone, with froyo rom its UI is faster than even the N8.

 • I found that T- mobile hungary is selling zte blade with tft screen but it doesn't say how much ram this unit has , and for San francisco i guess it has 512 mb of ram and amoled screen. Can someone confirm that so i would know where to buy this phone . Tnx a milion.

 • please gsmarena please review it. Why u are nt reviewing zte mobiles. This one loking very good am waiting for ur review

 • Been using this for about 2 months now (got on release day in UK). Battery is ok, nothing special but not show stopping. Screen is AMOLED and wonderful, for the price I paid it's a spectacular phone and definitely budget phone of they year. Processor is ARM6 btw.

 • Well... what processor does it have?

 • Does it have good Battery?

 • There has to be something wrong with this phone, how else could this cost under 200? GSMArena, please review this mysterious thing!

 • The Finnish 5mpix version has lcd-screen and 512mb RAM.

 • 216h 9 days is standby-time. It means that you dont do anything on your phone. Just leave it on. If you have auto mail sync or something then you cant get that time.

 • 99gbp is a joke! for this piece of gold

 • @ Anonymous, And an LCD screen, I bet..seems to be the european norm, a crippled SF(Blade).

 • Released in Finland with 5mpix camera & 256MB RAM for 189. GSMArena please review this phone you're my no. 1 source! Won't buy before you do. :)

 • 216 hours battery life! is that a joke!

 • Depending where you live, the screen format will vary between OLED and TFT (same resolution). Also, he OLED version has 512Mbytes of RAM TFT Version has 256Mbytes of RAM

 • You need to find the original ROM and extract the Vending.apk from there (should be in /system/app/) and put it back in /system/app/ on your phone using root explorer or some similar su file manager. The easiest would be to find the original rom (or any 2.1 rom which has the market app inside) packed as an update.zip. Just unzip it and search for Vending.apk

 • @ Anonymous, But can't say for sure, as there are a few different european versions, mostly based on the chinese Blade, with lower ram and poorer screen. I know there's one with a bigger camera sensor(5mp), but the quality is the same.

 • @ Anonymous, I think different..I'm sure it's 256meg ram, and an lcd screen not oled.

 • Anyone knows if the specs of the Blade sold in Portugal by Optimus (I think it's sold by the model name of San Francisco) are the same as the specs presented here?

 • @ Mike, No, it's not mandatory to show it, it's mandatory to show what safety checks it's passed, and it does that in the manual. For the specific SAR value, Orange can tell you that, but the manual does specify that it has passed all checks, and is within the limit.

 • SAR fiqure not public (mandatory for EU & US)?

 • Can we get a review of this up soon please. Looking to buy this for Christmas. What are people's opinions on the MP3 and also video playback from this phone? Bearing in mind I will definitely sticking a custom ROM on there.

 • Bought as the San Francisco. Very pleased. Performs without fault. It will be better when the OS is upgraded to 2.2. First touch screen/ Android so no benchmark to compare it with. 21-11-10.

 • @ Anonymous, It's been released in the UK for a couple of months as an Orange San Francisco.

 • Being released as the Orange San Francisco in the UK.

 • Please tell the rest of us

 • @ hello, Yes, it charges from it's usb port, from anything that has a usb port also, with the included lead, or you can just use the charger included.

 • Does it charge from its USB port? If not, what kind of charging port does it have?

 • it's 110g, not 130!

 • @ RTB You know I'm a big fan of this phone, but yesterday I pushed the boat out and purchased a Galaxy S. (Yeah, I know, it's 4 times the price), but the difference in performance is phenomenal ! It's like getting off a steam train and climbing onto Eurostar !

 • forget that, i now know how!

 • Hi guys, just waiting to recieve this smartfone and I am hearing about the 2.2 Android release. I know that the fone comes with 2.1 but how would I go about upgrading this to 2.2?

 • I know about that one, but it's at 189. And I'm on TMN, so the sapo A5 at 149 sounds a whole lot better to me. Just waiting to know if it has an OLED display or standard LCD.

 • hello I have got a serious problem...I rooted my phone and uninstalled all the orange stuff...By mistake I uninstalled my andriod market app also...Please help

 • @ RFB Cool..... Let me know how it goes, will you?

 • @ Freefaller, might give it another whirl then..it was a pain before, and i never really got to like the look of it. I see there's another 2.2 rom released, by someone else now..might try that one later, see how that compares to Gforums one.

 • @ RFB It's been updated since then. Go - Hancent/Menu/Settings/Notification Settings/Notification Settings/Notification Sound/Music and select your own sound/mp3 ringtone.

 • It seems that the WHITE version of this phone is being released on the 30/11/2010.Goto: Same price - £99.99

 • @ Freefaller, I tried Handcent before, when on 2.1, but it would take over the ringtones, and wouldn't let me use my own, as it picked the standard ones. Had to uninstall it to get my tones back.

 • Ask Paul obver at modoco..

 • @RFB Try Handcent from the Market for your SMS messages. It's a HOOT after you change the settings around to your liking. I chuckled when I got it looking like a HTC interface, but then got it looking like an iPhone and fell off the chair laughing !

 • Bought this phone about a month ago and have had no problems what so ever and i am a heavy user, battery life is on par to other smart phones with android OS, This is the first phone that a can honestly say that ive encounted NO freezes or lockups (like Nokia) This has got to be one of the best buget priced phones for 2010

 • @ Twad, The wifi bug is across Android 2.1, but 2.2(Froyo) on the SF/Blade, seems to cure it.

 • Bought this phone a week ago and couldnt be happier. First android phone so not exactly sure how it compares but does every thing I expected it to and more (with style). Have noticed the wifi bug a few times but for the price and screen I think its not really a problem.

 • @ Pete If the phone is locking up as you say it could be that it is still trying to access the Orange servers. You will have to remove the Orange bloatware or install a custom rom. Goto: for help in doing this. Thanks to RFB I have installed a custom rom with Android 2.2 sucessfully and have changed the APN to my network (O2) and everything is now fine. Also check your APN - Settings/Wireless & networks.Mobile networks/GSM/UMTS Options/Access Point Names

 • @ Pete, Oh yeah, Orange software/phones are garbage, so get rid of the Orange rom pronto. The battery is just as good(or poor) as most other smartphones, and wifi/3G connections kill the batteries on all phones. with 3G enabled, and average use of the phone, I can get 1-2 days with it. With 3g disabled, and average use of the phone for calls/texts, you can get 2-3 days. wifi though, thats the battery killer, as i say, on all phones, even the GT540(which isnt as good as the Blade/SF). Also, stick the screen brightness down to about 20% or less, and switch off auto brightness..those and dodgy 3G connections, and wifi use up a lot of the battery.

 • I'm a bit 'meh' about this phone tbh. I bought it on the 8th of November from Orange got it unlocked (using giffgaff now), and apart from the screen, im not that impressed. The battery truly is abysmal, not even lasting a working day and it froze 3 times yesterday- just with me checking football scores. I had to remove the battery each time. Would debranding to remove the Orange bloatware help? Im seriously thinking of returning to my LG Optimus otherwise

 • @ Freefaller, I uploaded the APN's, and have sent you the link over twitter, to the zip file. :)

 • @ RFB I would appreciate those APN's for O2 network if you could please. Thanks.

 • ZTE released a new phone in Portugal, which they call "Sapo a5". Looks a lot like the Blade, but has a 5MPix cam! ;) Could the modaco Froyo rom for Blade work in this phone?

 • @ Anonymous "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln

 • @ Anonymous, You are a liar, and maybe want to think before you type that utter trash, that you did.

 • Yes its true paul from Modaco paid huge money to review the scrap and rubbies chinese design and production phone dont believe on pauls review its all face, I used it for 1.5 month and been replaced by orange 4 time, bad battery slugish graphics performace, questionable touch screen sensitivity etc. please dont be fool by paul's review and cheap price

 • @ Freefaller, My APN's work, as I have sent mms messages, and received them too. I'll put mine up..theres one difference though, as I used a different set, with 1 of the entries slightly altered. I'll upload them and you can restore them with APN backup and restore. they work fine... :) You have to reboot when you delete the APN's and reboot when you enter the new ones, then they will work.

 • @ RFB Thanks for posting the links m8. Sadly, the APN's didn't work for me, but others on the Forum said the same. It seems to be a bit hit & miss whether it works or not. I'm not bothered, I seldom send pics from my phone anyway, but there was just one I wanted to forward. Back to using email attachment for now. Appreciate you taking the time to help me though.

 • @ Freefaller, There's a few in here...depends on tariff, etc, like monthly or pay and go. and theres the MMS pic size thread with fixes, here:

 • @ RFB I've searched Modaco but can only find a thread for SF APN on T-Mobile, and nothing about the file size limit. Any chance of posting the link(s) for me please. Thanks.

 • @ Freefaller, There's also a fix for the crappy little pics that you can get/receive on o2, which removes the limits on the file size.

 • @ Freefaller, You will need to delete the currenct APN's in the mobile network, then create 2 new ones for o2. Also change the answerphone number in your settings to o2's number, as the orange one will probably still remain. Modaco has the APN's in a post there, and the o2 number can be found in Google(+447802091901)

 • @ RFB I'm having trouble with MMS on the SF. I texted ACTIVE to 2020 but O2 replied 'We are having problems dealing with your settings'. Any ideas ?

 • @ RFB I did what you said - changed the build.prop file using Notepad (easier) and re-packed archive. Reinstalled custom rom and 'Bingo' - I have FryYo on my SF ! I am SO grateful for your help man, you ROCK!

 • @ Freefaller, LOL, you too.. What you have to do is to fix it, as they have done this in one of the files in the system. It's simple, just change it in the "build.prop" file in system from lcd_density=160 to lcd_density=240..or use root explorer, or the lcd density changer app on the market.

 • I've had this phone on Orange in the UK for about four weeks now. Aside from problems syncing with Exchange - not a phone fault really just a poor quality app - its been brilliant. The screen is fantastic, very clear and sharp. Only two things will worry you. First: The battery cover fits quite loosely at the top right corner and looks pretty flimsy. Second: Battery life is poor, if you spend time playing with the phone you'll get half a days use out of it. I'm looking for a better battery as we speak.

 • @ RFB I downloaded Android 2.2 from Modaco and installed it sucessfully. The screen icons are TINY! and the dialler is about 1/4 screen size in the bottom left hand corner. Is this right? Surely not?

 • ZTE should market this fone in Indian Market- that could capture entry level Android Market

 • what is the call quality like on this phone...any opinions...

 • Had this phone a couple of weeks now. It is true that you need to evaluate over time, well this phone is just the best of the best. As times goes on, you see your friend with their smartphoes on expensive contracts, and they look at your phone IN ENVY! They have no idea, if like me you purchased it on Orange in UK, with only San Francisco logo at top of screen. Some think at first it says Sony Ericsson, but if it was the screen would not look so bright (why don't Sony fix their light sensor problem, over dimming screens, like on my X10 mini?). The audio I initially thoght poor, Mixzing cures that instantly. The screen, Glass, very scratch resistant, and a joy to behold. The only downside Camera poor (limited too to 30 mins recording time. Camera noisy in darker conditions. Not too bad in bright light though, auto focus there, works well with barcode scanner app too). GPS Good, Wi-Fi not always so sensitive. Email notifications on googl never seem to show, maybe Orange doing that not sure. Runs NFS, Raging Thunder 2 OK (Close other apps to maximise memory) ZTE Just proved they can make top class phones, they moved into a different league! Don't tell your mates it's ZTE, they will all want one, that's for sure. I can ZTE being next to HTC soon, cannot wait for their next offering. Be willing to pay double the price for a better processor, 1Ghz maybe? This is quality, not a cheap phone just a cheap price 99 pounds UK.

 • @ Freefaller, I've had 3 1/2 days roughly of the phone on, but not doing anything, and it still hadn't reached 0%. On average though, i get 1-2 days on it, using it for some calls, some texts, a little bit of surfing, etc. Not bad really, as some more expensive phones, you can't even get a day out of them.

 • How much battery life do you guys get on a charge?.... I get about a day and a half with normal use, but only just a day if I make/receive a lot of calls/messages. I know it has a large screen, so I'm not disappointed, I expected that when I bought it.

 • The SoC is a Qualcomm MSM7227 with a 600Mhz ARM11 processor and Adreno 200 GPU.

 • Before the gsm arena posting for this phone, I made comparison to HTC Desire, well I keep my view that believe the screen on SF is actually better. On my desire the colour temp is more to red on RH side, and Blue on LH side of screen, the SF is almost as perfect as you can get. Why try to flash with Android 2.2? Don't get that, even unlocking see no point really, it's built for Orange in the UK. If you want a three phone, the Racer is there, ok screen not so good but still a good phone, have noticed the audio better on racer though, louder and slightly clearer. The screen on racer is very bright though and a true white, the SF is slightly red by comparison. You will not better this phone, looks better than Nokia N8, (the Nokia N8 screen not so sharp as lower resolution). Only the Galaxy S or Wave have better screens I feel, BUT ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER! A Must have phone.

 • very good phone, i got mine from orange! i love the OS and screen I hate the branding of orange and the camera is rubbish

 • This phone has got to be, if not the best on the market for its price!!!

 • @ Freefaller, Home selector?, it's in the apps bar, and it's called "carhome" But it's not the lg, so has no multiples of home screens, not unless you use a launcher like launcher pro,etc As for digital clock, i use Sense Analogue Clock, not used the inbuilt clock at all.

 • @ RFB I've done it ! ! ! :) I had to do a manual install in the end, but it worked! Now..... Where is the digital clock on the widgets screen? Where is Home Selector?

 • @ RFB I have finally managed to install CMR onto my SF:) New problem... I restarted the SF with the vol button down SF loads in CMR Menu - chose 'apply sdcard.update.zip' (Press Home) Menu - Install /sdcard/update.zip (Home) Then I get this... -- Install from sdcard... Finding update package Opening update package E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory) Installation aborted. I have downloaded installed another copy of update.zip in case the first one was corrupted but it still does the same thing. I'm SO close to updating. Any ideas?

 • @ Anonymous, Wi-fi is free, as that uses your router/wireless router connection in a hotspot or cafe, etc, so it's not that. What it is, is more than likely you do NOT have a tariff, that has an allowance for net use, so you will have to change your tariff to get one that allows, say, for example, o2 allows 500meg per month on the "text and web" tariff, otherwise, it will keep eating your credit. So in the meantime, go into wireless settings, and disable mobile network, until you get it sorted.

 • I've had this phone for a week and it keeps draining my credit and i've checked and the wifi costs is there anything i could do to stop it from costing and does anyone else have this problem

 • @ Freefaller, Too late, been running it for a couple of days, and not really any game breaking bugs that affect me, TBH. What surprises me most, is the speed of 2.2, compared to older builds, especially clunky 1.6..

 • @ RFB If you are thinking of upgrading to Android 2.2 you might want to read this first: I don't know how old the post is though.

 • @ RFB Reading back over your posts has given me an idea. I will post my phone number on your Twitter. Use that number to send me your address. I will send you my phone, (with return postage), and see if you can flash it. If you can, I'll drive up there and kiss your naked a**e. If you can't, you drive down here and kiss mine. (Only joking).

 • @ RFB I can't understand it either. I watched the guy in the Orange shop break the seal on the box, so I know that it was brand new and not a return. The only thing I did to it was buy an unlock code on eBay, and that came via email. How that 'FTM' thing got on there is a mystery. Don't knock my 'no kia', it's thinks it's a Ferrari !

 • @ Freefaller, Not really, your flash worked..and its still a nokia. ha-ha.. :) Post on Modaco, to see how to solve the SF issue..seriously, flashing it, is the easiest of all phones, just pick the file, and clockwork does the rest, that is if you get it working, wihch in your case, as you followed instructions, should have worked. I scoured their forums today, and the only time that's mentioned was with the unlock codes, and even then, there are easier options, and sellers on modaco selling cheap codes. That golden whateveritis, is more for shops, or serial ebay sellers, IMO. Can't understand how you get it....

 • Great phone for the money (which wasn't much), nice screen.

 • @ RFB Just to let you know that sometimes things go right, I've just flashed my Nokia 5800 with C6 firmware. Everything went right first time!

 • @BubbleTea101 I'm just lucky I guess.

 • @ RFB Wow! That IS weird. I don't understand why that happens. I won't bother posting on Modaco, like I said, I'm just pissed off trying now. I'll just leave it. Thanks anyway.

 • @ Freefaller, the white screen is for this: It's for unlocking using the furious gold unlock... Might be better off posting on modaco, see if anyone there can help, as that's the first time i've ever heard of this...

 • Lol. Why do you always get the dodgy phones?

 • @ RFB I've just followed your instructions to the letter, even though I've already done that about 20 times (I swear!). All I get is that black screen with a white box in the centre stating 'FTM'; I'm looking at that right now. 'It ain't gonna go'.

 • @ Freefaller, So you: Download fastboot. Turn off your phone and take out the battery. Unplug the phone from the PC / charger. Replace the battery and turn the phone back on with 'volume UP' held. The device will stay at the 'green android' screen. Plug the phone into the PC. Extract the fastboot zip file. From a command prompt (at the directory containing these new files!) run "fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.9-modaco-r2-blade.img&quot; When this finishes, from the command prompt run "fastboot-windows reboot" then you, Download the update.zip and copy to your SD card. Restart your device in recovery mode (turn on your device with 'Volume Down' held). Use the recovery menu to apply the update zip. If you did all that, and it's not working, then you have made a mistake somewhere, as that process works.. Are you sure you are holding the volume button, THEN starting the phone, and holding the volume button, and not just letting go.?!?!

 • @RFB I've tried EVERYTHING. I loaded the CMR in the end using 'fastboot', but when I started the phone with the vol DOWN all I got was a black screen with a white box marked 'FTM'. God knows what that is. Anyway, I've given up now. I've spent far too long trying to flash this damn phone, so much so that the back cover is becoming loose from the number of times I've taken it off to remove the battery. There comes a point when you say 'Enough's enough', because you know it's never going to work. I've now reached that point.

 • @Freefaller, And read and do the info in this thread:

 • @ Freefaller, and you have got fastboot.zip too??

 • @ Freefaller, The chinese version is different from the uk one. The pc won't see it as a ZTE Blade or Orange SF... As to your issue with CMR, you are booting up the phone with the volume UP button held?, for the installation, then when you want to copy the update.zip onto the SD card, reboot with the volume DOWN button held, as the screen/buttons are upside down....

 • 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 chipse ,Memory 512 Ram, battery 1250 mAh

 • Go onto eBay and buy an unlocking code for £1.50 or there abouts. Insert any other sim card than the Orange one and the unlocking screen will appear. Type in the unlocking code and the phone will be unlocked. Then you can access Android Market.

 • ZTE U X850 is in fact ZTE X850 or ZTE racer ZTE U X850 is error in writing of gsm arena . Because there is only one mobile phone ZTE X850 that is codnamed Racer for a Three network . In other words this isn't that phone. This is ZTE Blade or for Orange network in UK San Francisco.

 • Amazing value for money! The cheapest but yet one of the most advanced Android devices available. With a bit of technical skills you can unlock and upgrade the device to 2.2 yourself.

 • Available now on Orange.co.uk - £99.00 plus £10.00 Top up, pay monthly coming soon.

 • Until now I haven't found a way to update it. But I hope it is possible to do it via SDK Developer Kit. Anyway... the Android 2.1 on it is pretty censured by ZTE you dont`t have access to Android Market for example but can download .apk files and install Apps manually.

 • don´t expect ANY support from ZTE

 • is it phone upgradable into latest android version....

 • ZTE X850 and bad copy of the model name gave u 2 mobile phones with identical specifications that are the same. ZTE U X850 is in fact ZTE X850

 • Portugal - 139,99

 • This is what the Three website has written about it... "If youre looking for a low-cost internet phone with easy access to Facebook® and Spotify, the ZTE Racer is the answer. Not only will you be able to chat all day with your friends on social networking sites, but youll be able to choose from thousands of apps to download and view on the 2.8 QVGA touchscreen. So, whether you want to download games, shop or find your way with Google Maps, you can have it all on the ZTE Racer. This phone comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, and you can store all your photos and music with the 256MB internal memory and extra 2GB memory card. Other features include an FM radio, accelerometer, GPS and Bluetooth."

 • is this the zte racer? if it is then its already out in the uk for £109 on the three network. its one of the cheapest and simplest to use android phones out so if your looking for a cheap android phone with a basic camera and free windows live messenger and skype-to-skype calls then i reccomend you buy this handset!

 • It already on sale in Portugal for 159

 • ZET has to pull up in design and makes as there are many new brands coming out in the market but this handset looks like a new begining of ZTE

 • Looks like a fairly reasonable handset with basic functions and a standard camera, however it seems the designer fell asleep and forgot to design the back.
