ZTE nubia M2 - User Reviews

  • I have my Nubia M2 for 1 year and it works fine but recently I pluged the charger it connects and disconnect rapidly till it charges normally (not fast charge) any suggestions?

  • Looks like you just have to hold the power button down for a hard reset if it's frozen.

  • Sorry, might be volume up key not volume down. If the phone is frozen completely you can unfreeze it, I did it once but can't remember how, but I'll try and find out if that's the problem.

  • Sorry about that, worked fine for me. Turn your phone off and turn it one again while holding the volume button down, that will get you to the recovery menu where you can do a factory reset or reinstall the firmware (you'll need to put the firmware on the SD card).

  • That OTA update basically crippled my phone and it's functionality. Any way back?

  • It was an OTA upgrade, Global version, if you do a search for updates it should be available.

  • Can you Please Provide The link for 1.13 Stock Rom ?

  • It doesn't, it's Amoled not Super Amoled. They also said battery is 3650 mAh but tests say 3000 mAh. They also say it's a Sony camera sensor on the back, but the quality is so poor I doubt that is true either.

  • Just been reading the opinions on here on the Mi Ai and looks like there have been problems with Oreo and Pie and the best ROM is still Nougat. So maybe ZTE right not to update this phone, although I think they could have updated it to Nougat.

  • Unfortunately with both Lineage and RR the notifications don't work properly and the battery life is nowhere near as good.

  • Version is 1.13, still Nubia 4 and Android 6.0 but now patched up to 1 August 2018, was previously only up to July 2017. Don't think anything else has been changed.

  • Wow! Finally, an update for the global version. Only looks like a security update to keep Google compliance but still welcome.

  • Had not problems with the fingerprint sensor TBH, it's faster than on more expensive phones I've had. Battery life is awesome as well. If the camera was better I'd still be using it. We never did find out which Sony sensor they allegedly used in it.

  • I just notice that the power supply came from the retail box have a huge 5.0V on 5.2A output! Not 2.0A but 5.2A!

  • you make me laughing.. haha 20% you must set up how do the system doing at this happen, like normal or less performance. can not set volume up? you re kidding me.haha.. this phone just awesome.. battery life ,speakerphone loud enough.etc good camera its not bad at take a picture, but... so bad bad bad... at recording video at lowest light. oh god... and the fingerprint so bad bad bad.... cannot recognize when your finger dirty.. yeah dirty a little oil.. everything is ok.. just TWO ,,recording video lowest light and fingerprint. theres my review.

  • That's no excuse for lack of security updates though.

  • it was build on extreme tuning on MM hence the lack of support to update thats why even 625 on this one can play PUBG without flaw aside of lower graphics

  • BTW the battery is 3000mAh not 3630mAh as stated above, have confirmed by testing with phone test app and AliExpress now selling phone with correct 3000mAh description, battery life is still good though. Pluses: Screen, build quality, battery life. Minuses: Camera, stuck on Android 6.0

  • Been using this phone for a while now and it's a good phone with excellent battery life. Yes it's stuck on Android 6 but that doesn't really affect you day to day. The only real downside is how poor the camera is, the front camera is actually better as the phone was designed for selfies. And that the M1 A1 has the same processor, a better camera and is an Android One device with Oreo.

  • Same tho

  • Brilliant phone, but even better with Lineage OS ROM. Highly recommended for the price.

  • You know, the M2 and the M2 lite are really great phones for the price. Actually, theyre great anyway, because the spec is a lot of bang for the buck...... 3,4,Gb, 64 Gb HD screen, really, the phone people should be not buying are made by Apple. Now theres a system that puts you in Apple prison. Would I queue in a street to spend 1400 bucks on a phone? Am I mad or what! Phones from ZTE, Huawei, Redmi.... value man, and lets be honest, all these freaking things are small miracles. Weve been using 2 since they came out, no sweat, theyre on the case.

  • I like the hardware but the software sucks. Many bugs. When the battery is reaching 20%, the phone freezes for several minutes. Only when connecting the charger the freeze is gone. Very annoying bug. There is almost no customization at all. Very basic and poor software. Many times while using the phone it locks the screen by itself. When playing music with headphones, the volume can't reach the max level. The phone locks itself after trying to put the volume higher than the safe limit.

  • only few week using the phone black out, can't even use anymore, they use cheap material and that cause the phone easy to break.

  • Between Nubia M2 & Xiaomi Mi Max 2... Off course Mi Max 2 more more better

  • Very good phone. I'm using it for 8 months. Superior quality and design, hardware enough for all users, the software is interesting and stable. Last year was the best buy. Now Xiaomi phones have run over him. The only complaint is that the manufacturer does not release new versions of the software. That's why I raised Lineage 14.1(android 7.1.1)

  • always restarted back when charging, its make this phone not worth at all to buy, i cant even used when its really in emergency situation..

  • i bought this phone few months ago, it always hang all the time, yeah its cheap, but still not worth to buy, better looking for another phone, lots of smartphone cheaper than this but working better.

  • Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is about one million times better than ZTE Nubia M2, you wont get updates with this bad Company, they do not care about nothing. You can do hardware but without proper software you will go like the dinosaur "instinct".

  • Between Nubia M2 and Mi Max 2 which one is better?

  • Hello everyone! Do you know how to add lyric on this device? If everyone knows, could you help me to share this? Thank for advanced!!!!

  • you forget nubia has AMOLED display ..which to me is a huuuuuuge deciding factor

  • I have been using it around a month, I think that good and I don't egret o buy. It is fit with the price. In cambodia around 190$.

  • Although I'm aware of the M2 stuck with 6.0, I bought the phone a month ago for €135,00 and don't regret it for a second. Very snappy and the overall build is simply amazing.

  • Oh and despite the fact that this update has only just been released, it's only security patched up to March 2017. The last Global version which was released last December is patched up to July 2017. Lack of updates from ZTE/ Nubia is going to lose them sales to Xiaomi.

  • Undo battery saving mode..it won't kill apps thereafter

  • Downloaded the latest Chinese ROM for this phone, V2.06 29-06-2018 and although it's Nubia UI 5 it's STILL on Marshmallow so I can't see this getting an official update to Android 7, 8 or 8.1. Work is still being done on the Lineage ROM though but not quite stable yet I don't think.

  • Im planning to buy nubia m2 or vivo.which one is better for a long term use???

  • I don't understand why Nubia/ZTE is holding an offcial update to atleast Android 7.1 Nougat. There must be many users who are waiting for an update now in 2018. What a shame!

  • Lineage OS is available now but camera and fingerprint scanner don't work with it so I think I'll wait until they've fixed thatbbefore installing! Possibly there is a chance of an official update given thete was one for the M2 Play at the end of May.

  • Is this phone waterproof?

  • Of course it is worth updating, for any security updates, could do with another update now though but unlikely to get one.

  • Yes Chinese phone software is garbage and frustrating. Why don't they just put stock Android on like Xiaomi have done with the Mi A1?

  • Yes I checked it and all apps had checkmark. The thing is that all apps must be opened on the background otherwise can't get any notification!

  • Go into the Notification Center and make sure everything is ticked.

  • Hi everyone, I have problem with notification and the terrible Ram management, does anyone have such problems? I don't get notification from Instagram, what's app, telegram, ... it works well just with Facebook and Messenger! The Ram can't manage even 3 simple apps and kills them all after only a few minutes!

  • not possible to upgrade

  • I buy a NUBIA M2 N551J (vendor geekbuying) but the phone I receive is defective. I cannot be heard by those who call or I call them . If I plug in headphones, I can speak, but not through microphone of the telephone. I also reset to factory values, but it still does not work.

  • It was released in June 2017 so you didn't.

  • Its a good phone...not as good as smsung s7 or s8..but its good...i used it for more than a year...

  • whats about amoled display

  • Please answerw

  • nubia m2 is better selfie and better battry life

  • Android 8.1 I meant, already got 8.0 I believe.

  • Yes that phone is stock Android and with get the update to Android 8.0. ZTE who make Nubia are in danger of bankruptcy as they have been banned from buying chips from the U.S. for 7 years for selling technology to Iran. ZTE phones may not even get Google updates any more.

  • Follow the instructions on here: But I wouldn't do it as there are numerous problems and you will probably have to go back to the stock ROM anyway. As well as what I already mentioned there are also battery drain and SD card problems.

  • how u do it...

  • I wouldn't put Miui 9 on this phone, it doesn't work properly, loads of problems, notification lights don't work, can't turn shutter sound off, other stuff.

  • How did you root

  • Mi A1 better in everything. Nubia has only slightly more battery life....

  • which one is better Mi A1 or Nubia M2

  • How to do it? Is it global or China? MIUI working on Nubia phones, any compatibility issues? Other than that, did they upgrade the camera?

  • Nice Phone Good Quality Built. Nubia ui 4 is not good for this phone. I rooted and flashed latest miui 9. Now i feel better. No lags or Bugs.

  • For most of you that have complained about the camera performance especially in low light condition. Try to adjust the iso lower between 100 - 400 in the pro mode, it'll be better. Nubia M2's camera has an over iso so it makes a lot of noise on the picture

  • How to update?

  • ZTE as some other brands are very slow and bad in update Android for their phone.

  • After one month use. The pros: The display is very good. Good batery life and fast charging (full in one hour). Very fast processor,, i can feel the power of Snapdragon on every day tasks(you can compare with high end phones). In some havy games is heating a little bit but the games runs smothly. Very beatyful design. Finger print unlock very fast. Cons: Back camera quality medium(if zoom you can see it), auto focus is slow or dont work well. A little glitchy in back, carfuly with the handle. In the end, with that price it's worth the money,. I recommend.

  • Received this phone yesterday. Its a really nice phone and its slim and light. The other pros would be the bright and colorful AMOLED screen, long battery life and good gaming perfomance. Heck, it outperforms my Helio X27 soc powered phones and did not heat up like Helios at all. From camera 16mp is quite good I would say. Speakers is quite loud. OS wise is a bit like MIUI and easily adaptable. Phone is slightly longer, close to 5.7" actually. The main cons would be its rear dual lense camera.... Although it supports burst mode It just could not do the job unless under good light, and that also your images end up having artifacts or washed out details when zoomed. Given between Redmi Note 3 above to compare, I would easily choose the Redmis camera because they justs have better details (try zooming in and you'll know what i mean). Another cons would be running on Android 6 forever. Perhaps the cons are the reason why the price fell below the USD160 mark, but nevertheless at that price this phone is really a steal.

  • At least update this nubia m2 to 7.1.1 nougat man! and im sure it's can become really good midrange phones

  • I really like this phone! Waiting for Nougat! Nubia release Kernel sources!

  • here is a unboxing video

  • yeah, and on the same page it says KYRO instead of KRYO....so....

  • Can anyone tell me what the level of sound is like on calls and also notifications please,as seen some reviews stating its a bit low on volumes.

  • Strange... If u go here: It says it is Super Amoled...

  • but on the official site it says amoled display, not SUPER amoled!!! check it out in the display section here

  • Doesn,t support 1800 Lte which my carrier Vodafone Netherlands uses :(

  • Hi, I have mailed nubia.com and asked if Nubia M2 has Amoled or Super Amoled screen. They guaranteed it has Super Amoled exactly as they mentioned in M2 description from nubia.com Cheers

  • Here are the actual updates in the last software which are very minor: NX551J_Z69_EN_TSXPR17D11L111 2017/12/05 【Update Info】 The update this time has fixed system bugs and improved user experiences. [System] Added: Preset International APN; Optimized: Hebrew translations; [App] fixed: set alarm timer through Google Audio; Fixed: Two photos in Photo Editor in Cloud End Hard Drive; Fixed: standby power consumption when running Need for Speed17. This update includes but not limited to the items listed above.

  • Doh! Manual is actually on the phone. Didn't mention breath lights for notifications though.

  • True but it's still only Android 6.0 and Nubia operating system 4.0. I updated my phone and have noticed no difference at all, probably only fixed a few minor issues.

  • Not true. Last update is from December 2017. Check official website before you post dummy.

  • It's not bad at all. It's actually very good for the price.

  • Not OTA update or not even OTA menu option?

  • I think the reason it's being discounted is that there isn't going to be an update to Nougat or Oreo, it's stuck on Android 6.0. There are a few problems with it as I mentioned in my review but can't complain too much at the price. It also doesn't have NFC which is being dropped in many Chinese phones but still quite useful in Europe.

  • i want to buy the m2 due to its amoled screen 4gb+64gb and great price. BUT im been hearing pleanty of software and hardware problems for this phone here in Greece. thus the sudden price drop to around 120 euros. Can anyone share any malfunction problems? thanks

  • Also there is an update on the Nubia India site but it is still Android 6 and version 4.0 of the Nubia software and I can't see any difference so probably not worth updating.

  • OK I've worked this out now, the "home" button doesn't illuminate on this phone, the "breath light", actually lights, are the lights for the "back" button and "open windows" buttons either side of the "home" button and it is these that work as the notification lights, but they have to be activated for each app in "notifications". Took some working out but there is no manual, not even online.

  • Also bad, but I don't know if this is a fault or not, the red light on the start button is not coming on for notifications. You can set the breath lights to light up when you have a notification instead but then they seem to take a while to stop lighting up after you've read the notifications. Obviously some downsides with Chinese software.

  • Review time: Good: Slim, good battery life, excellent OLED screen, excellent amount of storage. Bad: Poor camera, poor speaker, not very loud even on maximum, poor call quality. So both a step up and step down from my previous phone, there's probably better chinese budget phones.

  • I think you have to get the Z17 Lite to get Android 7.1.

  • Ui 5.0 and its android 6.0.1.

  • Chinese only

  • hello there, it is applicable to global ROM or this is just for Chinese ROM?

  • So the Chinese nougat from doesn't have English language? The M2 needs Nougat/5.0 badddd

  • How about this one's camera quality.

  • Its ZTE update politics. You will not get updates on this phone unless you learn chinese and port the chinese rom your self.

  • It is a beta for chinese version of the m2. I guess chinese ppl will be very happy.

  • Got this one from Geekbuying, global version. No OTA updat

  • has 4g+??

  • there is a update for it. the latest version is on the Chinese website.

  • Born with android 6 and will get burried with android 6. There will be never an update for android 7.1

  • now 130€

  • Do you know the sar value of this phone ? European price Thanks for your answer

  • You know if it goes update?? Thanks

  • Good phone n good price. But i’m not the fan of gold, so i don’t buy it

  • it supports volte or not

  • Good phone for the price and has one of the best designs I've seen so far, i bought the black with gold version, with the gold line going all around the phone's side, gives it a luxurious and stylish look, using the phone for more than a month and no problems so far, just waiting for Android nougat.

  • where can i get it in south Africa

  • were can I get this phone @ south Africa

  • Black and Gold looks elite. Hawtness.

  • better than mini S z11?

  • Nougat update please

  • Agree...gold colour is ugly.

  • I planned to buy this phone but I canceled. Simple, I don't like gold color. I wish there will be full black color (without gold) or any other color except gold/rose gold, then i will buy it

  • i need a camera mobile under 22000 pls help me frnds

  • All review says it has good camera, but you say bad. can't understand!

  • What are they doing..... They still use marshmallow Totally f*ck

  • Is anybody know when this device will get nougat update?

  • camera is very bad

  • how is the audio quality via headphones & also for loud speaker

  • Need to buy this nubia M2..but cancelled due to no NFC...after vs j7 pro & Lnv P2 Too bad...

  • I think it's a good phone, i used it almost 2 weeks. it's run smoothly. multitasking is awsome too. battery life is nice too. i got sot about 6-7 hours. the camera is good, but in lowlight not so good. bokeh effect just good enough, but not that great

  • what is the camera module ...like sony IMX398 or something else?

  • Awesome Phone with great specs and camera performance Excellent Battery Life SD 625 is snappy

  • Somebody please help, which one is the best : Moto Z Play , Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom , Nubia M2 ?

  • Does the Indian unit come with the earphones?

  • Battery Backup awesome.... speed not bad... you may collect your one as a best phone.... This has gaming spack..

  • Just bought this phone and realised it doesn't have NFC..... seriously frustrating, surely you can expect this as a standard feature.... :(

  • Good phone i like it

  • this phone supports what kind of LTE? cat4 or cat6?

  • Definitely going to get one of these.
