this device is really good. however ZTE has a very poor after-sale/warranty support here in the philippines. my unit had problem, it suddenly became unable to read the memory card. but when i returned it to memo express to claim the warranty, it has been 6 weeks now and my phone isn't back. and they said that the ZTE in Cubao is not fixing it. very poor service!

I have found this to be a decent Android phone, though with a couple of weak point by current standards. 1: It's an old version of Android, which does set a few limits. 2: The internal memory is very limited. Even though some apps will run from the MicroSD card, upgrades for the built-in apps will take up a lot of space. You will have to pick and choose. The package I bought included a 4GB microSD card, I think that might be usual, and it is plenty to start with. It's a lot of photographs. It could carry a lot of music too. The battery figures seem rather optimistic, unless you use it only as a phone. A lot of things I do with my tablet, I wouldn't expect to do with a phone-size screen, but that's a personal size issue, not quality. It does what I need, but I'm an undemanding user.

Guys, i need some help. My zte skate 4.3H was working so well until all of a sudden when I re-started the phone I noticed that my applications on my memory card don't appear anymore. I re-started it again and for the 2nd time the applications appear already. This happened for quite some time until one day when I was about to use the camera there was a promt saying that the memory card is not inserted. From then on, my phone is not reading the memory card anymore. i tried to buy new memory card but it does not recognize the card anymore. Does anyone knows any fix for this except for bringing it back to the shop where I bought the unit as well as reformatting the phone? Hope someone could help me. Thanks in advance!

Your memory card is bad. Look at the package of a mc there should be a little number beside a word class, it defines the class of a memory card. If you have any class below 6 you will have problems (slow load, immpossible to use etc.). Solution is to buy a new memory card.

Google it. My girlfriend had exactly this problem, so she read about it and learned enough to open her phone, clean her mic, re-position the foam covering and re-seal her phone. Now I can hear her again when I call her. If she can do it, you can.

If your mic is not working,temporarily you can use the headphone that comes with the mic and plug in into your 3.5mm jack.Hope this works.

i've been having a zte skate for almost a year and a half now, and so far i had no problem with it. i'm a really-really heavy user, i'm always on my phone, and despite some comments saying the battery life isn't the best, i agree, it could be better, but compared to my 24/7 usage it last all day and don't forget that the screen is BIG. the only con i can think of is that i have only a few apps, even the ones i have are on my sd card and the phone memory is often low, in my opinion they could've put more memory into the phone.. the music player is good, the fm radio is a bit of poor quality, u can't really do anything with it..texting is easy as the screen is large, it has beautiful colours and great resolution, i most definitely recommend this phone for everyone. also, i used to have an iphone 3g and all i can say is, this phone is so much better.. i hope this was useful for everyone in confusion and before decision of buying it or not:) have a nice day!

I bought this phone 6 months ago and didn't have any problems with it. Right now I'm running a CM10.1 ROM (JB 4.2.1) and it's running smooth other then a normal camera flash problem. Problem with a low internal memory can be solved with link2sd very effective. For that amount of money it's a very decent device.

I've been using this phone for more than a month. And I can say that I'm quite satisfied with it. Although the speaker is not that loud compared to other phones, I'm still happy with my purchase. The only problem that I'm facing right now is the availability of its accessories, like screen protector and its jelly case. Battery - 5 Internet connectivity - 10 (surfing the net,FB,mails,downloading are all very smooth,fast.. just depending on your signal. 3G signal also works great) Gaming - 8 (can play HD games very smoothly) The prob in this phone is the battery..too weak for a phone that works this great. It could only last for average of 6 hours for straight gaming. Does anybody know a third party app that could save the battery usage? I am using Battery Booster now, is there any better app? To everyone interested to this model. I bought this phone just 8 days ago and so far the experience is great. This phone is very good. If I have to give rating for my criteria, it would be as follows: Androidness - 10 (works great even if it's in 2.3 only) Responsiveness - 10 (no lags, very smooth) Display - 8.5 (big enough screen, very good colors) Camera - 8.5 (the 5mp camera+ LED flash is very nice, i've been using a 8mp sony ericsson for 2 yrs and i can say the quality of image is comparable)

Yes the phone uses a regular sim...not unlike new phones that requires you to use micro sims....@ lee is it safe to have it upgraded to ICS at Farmers, i think they are not using the official upgrade from ZTE

Hi, I bought mine in Robinsons Galleria, I forgot the name of the store (I'm only viewing gsmarena in the office)but I'll check my receipt. They will only upgrade phones if you purchased it in their store as what they told me. You can have your Skate upgraded in MSI-ECS. Try calling them if they do, if not; you can go to Farmers and have it upgraded. They will not open your phone because they will only put the progarm using USB without actually opening it. Also, with regard to your issues in waking the phone and will sleep after 2-3 secs. That how android phone works. If you wake them without unlocking, it will auto sleep to save battery because android phones are strong in consuming battery. Other android phone are waken by power bottons or menu bottons as well so there's nothing to brag about. I have my Netphone 701 (aka ZTE Blade) and it has the same thing. Even Samsung SIII and other androids. It will auto sleep if you won't unlock the screen. (Smart right?). Me, I investigated and checked the phone, checked forums like this before purchasing so that I my money won't be wasted.

it was priced 13,999 originally. once I saw that it is now 5,999 and the specs are better than the monte carlo from EU, I bought one on the spot and as of now I am impressed with my 5,999 phone. the down side is that you can only wake it via the button on the sides. you can wake it up via the three buttons on the front face but this is only possible within 2-4 seconds that the screen have turned off. once you let the phone sleep for more than 5 seconds, you can only wake it up via the button on the side. What will happen if the button on the side fails? no way of waking up the phone unless you restart it..pfffttt i am also from the PI....

To Address your questions: @zvona: yes, teh ZTE Skate can be updated to ICS 4.0. Depends, you can go to a legitimate ZTE dealer to have it upgraded or search via internet. Here in Philippines, you can only pay 500 pesos or £7.5 to upgrade android 2.3 to ICS 4.0 @Anonymous: You can see the specs in the box, on the phone see 'about phone' in settings. @Anonymous: If you're looking for ZTE Skate in UK or in other country, it only has 800 mgz. Again, the 1.4 Ghz is only released here in Philippines. It has been enhanded due to Filipino's being so "Tekki" or too conscious about a mobile phones specs.

Hello guys, Sorry I was busy. I bought my phone here in Philiippines where I live. If you go here, you can find this phone in Robinsons Mall and SM malls (The well known malls in the country.) The specs can bee seen in the phone itself. You can see it in 'about phone'. The memory can be seen in 'SD Internal memory' you will see the internal memory which is 1GB. That's clean because you will be the one to download the apps that you like. (Mine i have most of the pro apps like AVG Pro, plants VS Zombies, turbo race, Need for Speed Shift, etc. and no lag at all (Thanks to RAM cleaner also) which automatically kills applications that causes lag. With regard to upgrading it to 4.0 ICS, as what I previously mentioned, I eruested to upgrade the phone to ICS before having it so when I came to get the phone, it's already ICS 4.0. I bought it in Robinsons mall and once you get one of this, you can request for apps (paid apps) to be installed in the free 4GB micro SD. When I asked the ZTE office here, they told me that the ZTE skate that has the specs that I previously mentions was only released here in Philippines because we 'Filipino's' are so called (Tekky) when it comes to gadgets.

To move some apps to your memory doesn't mean that you are moving the apps. It's only moving some memory to give more space to your internal memory. Go to setting>applications. Select the apps that you want to move memory to SD card then touch on "MOVE TO SDcard". Again, a part of the apps memory will be moved to SD card.

When I was reading the specs here and your comments,I noticed that you are dissapointed with the phones memory which I feel the same way. But the one released here has a higher memory. The one they'll be giving out is an OS 2.3 but you can request to upgrade it to ISC 4.0 for free with free apps (PAID APPS) so when you get your ZTE Skate from the store, you'll get an ICS OS. I have a ZTE Blade and I had the same problem with too small internal memory. I had to root it, make a EXT partition in the SD card and install Link2SD or App2SD (I can´t remember which one). Then you can copy the whole app to the SD and save some internal memory.

I am a gadget enthusiast and this is the best unbranded phone ever.. first it's cheap P5999 pesos in the Philippines. very big screen, 5mp camera with flash, decent quality photos I must say, 16M colors 216ppi density, very crisp colors.. the battery life is quite normal for android phones.. it last 5-6 of continues use and it's cpu is 1ghz quallcom not 800mhz. ive tried some hd games and it works without lag.. so its definitely a must buy.. I have had the phone for a few months and I think it's excellent for the money paid. I have unlocked it (purchased as Orange Monte Carlo), rooted it and downloaded an app called Link2SD which saves you a ton of hassle as the internal memory is quite small. The 'modaco' website which has been mentioned by several people here is the most useful site I've found for anything relating to this phone. If you're thinking of getting one - do it. You will not regret it. A fantastic budget smartphone!

When you look at the spec it seems poor. If you have the monte carlo un-rooted and untouched its too slow. But its a quality piece of kit for £100. A mobile and a tablet in one. I use it every day. Ive just recently rooted it after 4 months owning it as im sick of it running slow with low memory issues too. Now since then I have removed all the orange garbage ware and its running twice as fast has much more memoryn And also its battery is lasting twice as long which I can only assume relates to the CPU not being under load all the time. If you want a more mobile tablet than these £100 ones on amazon that may have better CPU but dont have compass, motion sensor gps or 3G then I recommend this. No need to change the ROM. Just unlock and root it which took me 5 minutes. with 20 minutes studying how too.

Hello, i bought the phone (Monte Carlo version) and I'm happy with it, but there is one problem. When i use Skype and Viber application it roots the sound to speaker instead of ear peace. Is some software error, but since i don't know if ZTE will fix it I found the skype app fix on net. Lot of comments re: Flash support - there are versions of Flash that support the ARM v6 processor so a bit of googling should get you sorted. Personally for the price I think this is a very good buy. Checkout the Android Modaco Forums for loads of ZTE Skate info, tutorials etc

This has to be a phone the networks don't want you to know about....even an orange store did not have it on display! It's too good for the price, and could potentially put at risk high price tag handsets that are not as good. If you want an HTC Desire HD clone, that is lighter with BETTER audio, this is it. It is probably the best handset I have ever owned, better than my Xperia Play (lighter)....better I feel than many HTCs and yet thankfully gets little publicity...lets hope it stays that way!! My main gripe often is phone screens being scratch resistant...you get frightened to peel off the protective film....well not this one it seems to be glass. Don't buy? This phone has to be the best deal this side of the planet (and the other!) Ages before GSM Arena has it's predecessor mentioned, the blade aka Orange San Francisco I was writing about this marvel to the masses.....then came deals in the third world through Dell branding ZTE phones. The screen is GREAT.....seems to be an SLCD. The audio, even with the supplied earphones is fantastic, Dolby Mobile, and using GINGERBREAD as the o/s you get the graphic equaliser etc. Processor seems to run quite fast....even if it is a generation behind it's darn good. Go pay 4x the price. Actually, I have to say I PREFER the screen to an Xperia play I have, you can keep a higher brightness level as can turn of auto brightness more effectively. The camera is not bad for a 5mp......Lets see a 4.3 inch screen, gingerbread and superb audio for 130 quid at UK Orange Stores (Branded Monte Carlo). Got one today...and so far cannot fault....not only at price just cannot fault overall. My blade is long in the tooth now and got the amoled version...and can report this screen is better. Tell me a better deal? Cannot understand why t-mobile, the same company do not offer this phone too??

I think people need to cut some slack for the Skate. I'm still using my Motorola DEXT, or CLIQ for others. I will say, ZTE are hopeless with their release dates, but I think this phone has potential. Bear in mind, my DEXT has a 528Mhz CPU, a really old chipset and GPU, a 3.1 inch 320x480 px display... This will be somewhat of an upgrade for me. I don't go for the uber expensive androids, I'd much rather have a budget one. This looks nice enough. I mean it has an 800Mhz compared to my measly 528, and the San Frans 600 I don't think was enough of a jump which is why I didn't get that. The issues with the dext are clear, its slow, very outdated, got a small screen, and had ( I have re-rommed) a horrible overlay to android. I think this phone is great for about 200 euros, about 160 pounds, and considering I paid £130 for this DEXT, it will be a great improvement. Plus the RAM is at the average 512, would have been nicer to have a tad more, but hey! I shall be getting this when it comes. I really do want a bigger screen, a faster phone, android 2.3 and a more show-offable handset. The DEXT is an embarrasment to use in public. It's a brick. And you can't play angry birds at all. Honestly, it must do about 0.5 fps on the dext. Yet I have seen a demo video, where someone shows the phone has the capability to play angry birds well and properly. Give it a break people, but ZTE, get a move on, this here DEXT needs a damn upgrade fast. And I'm well behind on 2.1! All the froyoliciousness I am missing out on! And the gingerbreadoliciousness! I thing, for the money, it looks good, has good specs and does everything I would want it to do. I really believe you should all appreciate your current phones. Huawei IDEOS X5: Thanks for the information! I read the specs of the Huawei IDEOS X5, it is indeed an excellent bargain! According to some user comments in another forum even its camera shoots good photos, and the overall size of the phone is nice and small enough for an average pocket, unlike that Skate here.

To Anonymous did you have this device in your hand , you couldn't have this device in your hand and say it is all plastic because in videos is pre-reales unit which are basicly prototype of device which is going to be soled on the market. CPU is 800 Mhz now we don't know is it going to be arm 11 or arm a8 because pre-realesed unit and unit that will be soled on market is huge difference.

800MHZ Procceser is far to slow its hardley an improvement over the zte blade/sanfrancisco.It also doesnt support flash ether the big screen maybe a bonus but ive heard the software is laggy.It cannot handle android 2.3 and it looks plastic the buttons at the bottom are lose i doubt it will out sell the blade/sanfrancisco such a good android for 100pounds.I dont know why zte didnt improve on the blade with a blade/sanfrancisco 2 they could of updated the software and put a faster processer inside the skate is just a waste of time

HTC Wildfire? QVGA display. Processor and GPU are substandard and far obsolete. Almost every spec is out of date. Wildfire is a mass product for mugs, nothing more.

The battery will be between average and rather weak, just 1400 mAh. The price may be between EUR 200 and 300 EUR. Reference: In my opinion even a price of just EUR 200 would not be very competitive anymore. There are a lot of other "mayor brand" android smart phones for less than EUR 200 by now. Also: I would not buy the ZTE Skate when it is newly released. Not anymore. All that delay must have a reason. I would wait until I can read a fair amount of user reviews.

This is going to have to be very cheap (below 130 British pounds) as it it possible to get a HTC Wildfire for £130 brand new and although the proccessor is only 600MHz (in the HTC) it is a very reliable brand an a good fashion statment. Just like the Skate it also has a 5MP camera with flash and auto-focus. The only question i have is will the battery in the ZTE Skate hack such a big screen?!?!?

The longer they wait the less desirable this phone becomes to me. One month ago, when I first read about it, I just wanted it. Now I am not sure anymore because there are many other phones that get constantly cheaper. For example, with the new Samsung Galaxy SII being released I saw that the price of the current Galaxy i9000 is in free fall. Same with the ACE. Same with some HTC models like the Wildfire. One month in the future and ZTE Skate will not be able to stand against the other brands anymore. I think they are waiting too long with their release; also, the delay does not really give me confidence in the quality of the Skate.

New firmware is being released daily! Testing firmware on some ZTE Blades for compatibility between devices even! Device will be sluggish on the slower processor until or friends at MoDaCo get their mits on it and mod. Mid May/June launch date with Orange in UK.

Lets hope so, if ZTE are smart then they will release this phone at a low price and it will probably shift as fast as the Blade did (San Francisco) what we dont want to see is another HTC, they release a good phone for cheap then the next ones at a premium.

Doubt it, the Style S is said to have a front-facing camera, Skate does not from what I gather... Two completely differents phones. Still like Skate's design better, though.

ZTE is 4th largest in the world now ! Apple down to 6th. Have had a ZTE Blade for a while now and find it very good, but for some weird reason it lacks a secondary camera....compare with Nokia who provided this 5 or 6 years ago! What is really strange (possibly stupid) is that this latest model also is without front camera !

OK this phone is AWESOME. I think other companies should take a page out if ZTE's book and realize that, to be honest, smartphones are really not worth their cost. The price of a high end smarth phone is almost to the price of a great spec PC for Pete's sake. I spend 500 euros on my n73 when it first came out and i realized a couple of months later that it really wasnt worth it. There are WAYYYY cooler things out there to buy. There are three things i want now in a phone. SPEED, GOOD DESIGN, RECEPTION QUALITY. If this phone has these, then hell i will buy 10 of them and give them to people for free so they can see that you dont have to spend a fortune to get a AWESOME phone.

ZTE is the fifth largest, not the first largest, based on volume sales.... all the handsets it makes are sold by companies like vodafone with a bit of tweaking and re-branding.

totally wierd choice going with a big screen and a small cpu and up to now i havent found any posts saying this thing has any type of graphics accelerator total disapoitment hopefully at least it would cost no more than 200 british pounds otherwise i dont really see any market for this one. and FIRST !!!!!
