Different batteries still available for this model on the market - I'm currently using upgraded 1000mAh battery and got original brand-new 900mAh from eBay last year, just in case... this is an amazing support for this model comparing to modern smartphones! The only disadvantage of this phone is a clunky proprietary connector. proprietary stuff is evil =(

I bought a K790a model of this phone in May of 2007 and upgrade to a smart phone 3 years later to keep up with the times. The K790a is now my travel phone, and although it's nearly 10 years old it still works without a hitch. Though I did replace the original battery 3 years ago as it wasn't keeping a very good charge at the time, this phone proves that they sure knew how to build them well in the old days. :)

!! Wonderful !! I do not have words to describe... I baught this on 2007 and till now i have not gone for any service, replacements.. The Camera, Picture and the Music is so beautiful.. I am using it for almost 5 years. Thankyou Sony Erricsson for creating such a wonderful h/s.

Camera = excellent. You could just use it as a stand-alone camera without a SIM card. Stick in a an 8 GB memory card and enjoy a good music and camera device. Be aware that the phone has a 2 GB max and will not display 8 GB, but will utilize all 8 GB. Phone = good. The speaker could be much louder, but otherwise it's solid. Looks = sexy.

I bought my Sony Ericsson K790i at 1\5\08, It has been 4.7 year, i was ride my bike in 70kph, my phone slip from my hand and band hard on the road, his keypad, battery, back panel and other part was laying on the road, i collected all the parts and went home, And got him repaired by myself by using only a screw driver, i thought that he is dead but put the power on and he is alive,it has been 1year for this accident, still he is in good condition, my phone has the same performance, same photo clarity, same loud sound quality. thanks to sony ericsson for creating this phone........:)

Unfortunately the phone discontinued from the market by the sony its the really missing one. I used this phone for a year and a half, and it works great, the photos go just great, but suddenly some green spots appeared on the display. They are only a few, they don't bother at all but i hope it's not a sign of getting broken. Other than that the batery is just good, the mp3 player works just fine and i reccommend it.

I bought my K790a new in 2008 (Indiana, USA). Mine works great! It's a little bulky compared to other phones on the market, but the camera works really well and having the removable card to develop the pictures on the spot is worth the extra width. I have found the phone quite easy to use and recommend it to anyone. I like the radio feature as well. I don't have an I-Pod or MP3, so I often use it while jogging. It's really nice too, that if my phone rings while I'm exercising I can answer it. If I were using an I-Pod, I wouldn't be able to carry my phone with me. I have found the phone to be fairly sturdy also. Of course, I try not to drop my phone, but on the few occasions that I have, it has shown no reprocussions - I can't say that about any of my past phones. The only thing I would like to improve upon concerning my phone is that the call volume could be a lot louder. It works well for most calls, but I currently have it set as high as it will go. Every once in awhile I'll get someone that speaks softly and there's nothing I can do to hear them better. All in all, this is a great phone! Anyone considering buying it should not be worried!

U face prob about ur battery. Lean to maintain battery well. Atleast once or twice in a week allow to charge down to minimum 5% and again charge it fully (100%). Dont leave mobile under charge for long even after it charged fully. Now only hope to change ur battery.

There's a big difference between SE made in Lund, Sweden and SE made in China. When I bought this phone with 3 others in 2007, only I got Swedish make. Others got chinese made SE k790i. Phones used by others conked off within a year. It gave plenty of problems before they had to change it. Re-sale value for Swedish make is higher than the chinese one. My phone is still working fine. Sorry. Give it to Vinod cell world, If you are in Chennai. Otherwise, give it to a reliable repair shop... Its giving prob cos sweat while speak over phone goes thru the keypad and damages the base of the pad over the years. It will cost you not more than 1.5k

Exalent internet browsing of edge.do not establised 3g in india. So,i am happy the owner of the phone. Any way java os the best., many more app availalable in the wap. It's a software compatibility issue. I faced the same problem. Try restarting your handset by turning it off and then turning it on after sometime. That worked for me.

Great phone by Sony Ericsson in terms of camera, apart from the certain problems that almost all Sony Ericsson phones face after some time - Joystick problem and problem with the port where to connect the charger/handsfree. But if you are looking for a good camera phone in this range, I must say this is the best with its 3.15 mp camera giving good quality pictures, cyber shot giving still pics even if you are travelling and camera is moving (personal experience), and xenon flash making a night shot work amazingly. No other phone except k790i and k810 in this range has a xenon flash, so, I think I got a really fair deal when I bought it.

I have this phone... It has its share or pluses and minuses. Pluses: Pretty easy to use, great pictures for a cell phone camera, lots of great features like fast web browsing. Minuses: It is very easy to "butt-dial" with this phone. There have been many times I pulled my phone out of my pocket and realize I've been on a call for 20 minutes without realizing. The automatic keylock function works, but is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast. It will engage halfway through typing a number. Also, its software sucks. It will shut off or freeze up on its own sometimes and the only way to fix it is by popping out the battery. Other than that, it's not bad.

on my use I think this is the best mobile I could find in less than 15k. as the front panel is fully metalic and the rear with rubber coating its even scratch proof at ordinary use. if there is a next phone for me it will be just the sonu ericcson c905. i get battery backup of 3 days max in ordinary use.the camera flash is superb.the software is also pretty fast comparing with new generation phone s in this price range

This is wonderfull phone. Camera very good. But when use 2gb memory card, phone getting slow in installing and opening applications and games. And very slow when switch on the mobile. Often hanging is the problem i face. Camera button troubled me. But now its fine. In optional we can use joystick key as camera button. Till i was using 1gb card. No prob with my phone k790i. And many times my phone felt down by mistake. But no prob with that. But many warned me that this mobile will get into lots of trouble if i put it down. But i never face any prob like that. I feel, Often hanging is the one and only drawback of this phone.

hi i have used SE and nokia for quite a few times but due to nokia's funfilled OS and it's unique style i liked nokie over SE. the only thing which i recommend in nokia phones is that it should increase its battery backup time and camera feature like good quality. now i am planning to buy a new phone but i am in dilemma i like camera but i also like symbian OS so guys suggest which would to choose from with 3 to 5 mp camera and battery to near 7 hours or so and a smart OS to be included. what about symbian UIQ is it faithful like symbian s60 or just a timepass. what about nokia N78?

well its an excellent phone, with reasonable features. the most noticable thing is its marvellous camera,flash and graceful looks... have been using it for an yr by now..hope it works well in future too.. costs around 13,500 Pak Rs., i think equivalent to about 173 US $. highly recommended for buying... normally we have camera built in a phone, but i refer k790i as "A PHONE BUILT IN A CAMERA" :)

I use Sandisk 2GB too, and my data's size is about 1,5 GB... there is no problem with the phone. ^^ for upgrade the phone software, here in Indonesia we usually go to the Sony Ericsson service centre, because of the guarantee period. but if not, you can upgrade online through Sony Ericsson site....

Hello All, My K790i often get's hanged and I will have to remove and put back my battery to re-start it(I wont be able to use the power button also to switch it on), I use a 2 GB Sandisk memory card and have about a GB of data. Does any one of you'll have faced this issue?? Any suggestions will be helpful!! Also how can I flush my old S/W and memory completely and re-install the S/W. Thanks in advance for all your help...

If u want to assing tone for a single ph. no. so u simply go to music files and then chosse the song or tone which u wish to set on the no. then press the "more" key where u get the option "use as" selact the option contact tone and set the tone as presonal tone.

One of the most terrible experiences. 1. I purchased a Sony Ericsson mobile 350i IMEI number 35586502-1218703 for my daughter from RPG Cellucom India Private Limited, Lucknow on 10 Aug 2008 vide their invoice number 4690. Within a couple of days of purchase the mobile suddenly got extremely heated up and I had to remove the battery to cool it down. The mobile was accorded �Dead on Arrival� status by authorized workshop of Sony Ericson i.e., M/s Salora International and my dealer was kind enough to give a replacement set IMEI number 35586502-1250870 vide invoice No 46 dated 19 Aug 08 on producing �DOA� Certificate. 2. Within three months, this new set also started heating up spontaneously and switched off, forcing me to once again approach Salora International for replacement. The workshop insisted that the mobile was repairable and will not be replaced. The mobile was forwarded to �RSI for swap� and I could receive a mobile with an apparently replaced mother board having IMEI number 35586502-3522506 after a month. 3. Firstly, problem has taken place in the motherboard of two new mobiles on two distinct occasions with the same customer. I approached two of the top executives of Sony Ericsson on their e mail namely [email protected] and [email protected] requesting them to provide me the opportunity to change the model. None of them have bothered to even acknowledge the mail. I remain in constant worry that the mobile is liable to get heated up anytime again as hitherto fore and may explode causing physical and mental agony to me. 4. Secondly the practice of manufacturers Sony Ericsson to outsource a core service like repairs to M/s Salora International appalls the customer who while purchasing the mobile considers the market reputation of the backend manufacturers only and not the ghost front end who does not have equivalent repute.

Hi all SE fans...i am back to SE with my K790...first of all i am really considered about the camera..it was the only thing which i would look far than the extra facility that i get from the phone..bcoz i cant carry a digicam all the time..so the good phone with a good camera was my first choice....... So it was a year before when i purchased my first mobile that was K550i..then i want to get to the next level of camera..then switched to k850..but a disappointment with the purple fingering which i had in my k850...so moved from SE to N82... Everything was good in N82..xenon flash is powerful..images are much precise etc...but a thing which bothered me is the unnatural color that it produced...(i.e) when i try to shoot the sky directly with N82 lot of purple fingering around the pics... i dont the reason whats going on...see the link below which i posted the pics with purple fingering shot at my N82..look at the link below where i have posted the pics of my sold N82 and current new K790 comparision. So apart from all the other goodies..as a camera phone supporter i was disappointed with unnatural color production of N82....so atlast yesterday i went to Sony Ericsson outlet(India) and returned them my N82..and bought brand new K790...i have seen the demo of C905 which was really good all the navigating themes..camera etc..but a bit expensive where i already spent a lot for mobile...so finally settled down back with K790 cybershot family....

generally se phones r not reliable... they have many features under 1 roof.. but if u really see the performance its nothing compared to nokia and motorola.. speaking about camera: the camera and speaker in se will be better when compared to other brands but that is not the criteria for deciding a phone.. i agree that se cameras r far good and better than nokia because camera and walkman r the trademarks of sony corporation but wat about mobile technology and reliability.. in mobile technology ericsson is like a small baby when compared to nokia.. a good phone means it should have all optimal mobile features and strong signal receiving capability which is very important.. in this section se r worst..dropping calls for no reason,hanging.. because i have used both se(k790i) and nokia(n73music edition).. i personally feel nokia is worth and value for money.. se r not value for money... so dont see the entertainment features like camera etc etc,see the mobile features and then buy ur phone..i dont have any conflicts with se company,but after using both nokia and se.. i came to know that nokia is very much reliable,worth for money, and with some average features.. the next big giant in mobile technology would be motorola... my friend is using motorola he doesnt face any problem in last 1.5 years..thats a great sign of reliablity.. My k790i is 9 months old. When I took so many photos, & saved on Phone memory(Just now bgt. 2GB M2 mem_card), it is very slow & almost freezed. So i switched Off & on (by taking batt), it showed WHITE Screen (WSOD). I gave it to Accel svc. ctr. (SE) in Chennai & got it bk in abt 2 wks. Then i took appox. ~60 photos within 2 hrs. Again White screen problem. So it is not suitable for heavy users of camera. When it is woking fine no prob., it's lk Heaven. But if any repair, Better buy another phone. Recurrence of errors, svc ctr etc everythg is perennial Hell.

this is such a lovey cell phone with its options. cause all the options are realy worths. specially the camera, it realy serves the purpose not a toy camera. The processor of this mobile is quite faster than other mobile sets. cause it does not take long time to load all the songs in the play list. It take few time to load full resulation pictures. MP3 sound quality is excellent specially in earphone. Clarity in hearing the FM radio as well. the surface finishing of the back side of this mobile i like most. its mat velvet finish so, its scratch proof. I enjoy this phone, and i still feel like i'm not taking full advantage of this phone's capabilities.. I'll tell you that to assure it's a good phone to have. A nagging thing is that, to feel so business like, it doesn't read pdf's, and the web browser is just ok to me. Doesn't include previous text in your message when replying (but this may be a SonyEricsson thing). The phone gets real hot on my ear, and that in combination with pressing it against my ear so i can hear hurts my ear. I suggest using the cords that come with it for better audio quality. You may want to get your own headphones. Also, if you're at all interested in visiting Japan/Korea I suggest getting a different phone because this one won't work in those countries. Which is a shame because it's the kind of phone you would want to have for a long long time. I think for a possibly the same price look at the k850i (not sure where you're going to buy the k790 so i don't know the price but amazon.com's price for the k850i is likely going to be a better buy for you). Fairly easy to use. Plays nice with Macs (I can't tell you how much of a joy it's been). Works with AT&T with little problem (i haven't been able to get or send email even after i set up the account for gmail in the email program on the phone).

Trying to answer few of the questions : 1)Expandable upto 2 GB(generally dealers provide 1GB card with this). 2)Sound quality is good but not as compared tO walkman series..also the volume is bit low. 3)Camera is awesome...captures the scenes in motion also perfectly..somethin Sony seems to have mastered.. 4)No Hanging problem. 5)Menu accessing speed is far better than the Nokia Competetitors...that saves so much of irritation :P . 6)Joystick is Ok unless you go on playing too much of cricket... 7)Decent look ..not too sophisticated Overall..awesome phone..cant beat this at this range...has everything one wud like to have from a phone(though if u r aspiring for EDGE,GPS etc u need to shell more money buying better handsets) Hope this helps..

Hi guys i have been using K790i for about a year, i m posting 1st time, and this is my humble opinion :) 1) DeCENT phone with classic ericsson design and nice features.. 2) 3.2 MP pictures are BEST-IN-CLASS and *earphone quality output as good as Walkman series.( i compared with w810i,w910i and w950i) *i use a hpm-82 headphone. 3) UsER InTERFACE is very easy and nice to go with.. 4) BaTTERY BaCKUP stays for 3 days standby and if i push it to rigorously hearing music then a day and half beautifull for one day trips... 5) i have 2gb, 4gb, 8gb MeMORY CaRDS M2 and they work well NO LAG (i'hav used upto 6gb) 6) ExTERNAL SPEAKER initially was good but by now started to distort, have to be choosy with the ringtones 7) u CaNT ROuGH USE the phone(like nokia) else KeYPADS may get spoiled quickly, as they are not high quality. Well to summarise, if u want the best 3.2 picture, Walkman quality(use walkman series headphones) and upto 8gb memory, then look no further this is it :) This phone is one of the many i use,i have and use all brands, please do let me know for more info on this model :)thankyou..........

I hope u must have read my detailed review of this mobile phone which was posted abt 6 months back. Now after 6 months of usage i am feeling proud that i have made the right choice. K790i simply rocks. Audio is good. Camera is excellent. If u want to know how speed u r camera works i will give u one trick. Just switch off all lights and turn on u r ceiling fan. Now take a picture of the ceiling fan. U will get a still image of the fan. Not the rotating picture. Try the same with a mobile having LED flash. U will sure find the difference. This is the worst phone i could ever use,and the customer service is all the most worst, one morning i woke up,and the phone was dead as in i could not start the phone and use it,got it checked at the sony ericsson service centre,said that the phone needs to be replaced,it's been more then a month now and haven't got the cellphone.

I used this phone from 11/06 til 04/08. By far one of the best phones i've ever owned. Great receptioin strength, good call quality, great pictures, and a solid MP3 player. Honestly never had a problem with the joystick. Very durable phone, dropped quite a bit. Towards the last 2 months the camera stopped working. I flashed it and it was like new again. Then I started using the IPHONE so i sold it for like 50 bucks. If your on the fence with this phone, dont be, its a great buy

Well camera doesnt delay. It just focus on pic b4 capturin it. U cant call that delay. This feature is wat it makes this fone better than other 3.2mp cam fones. And im usin it for 6 months it hadnt even hanged once. While im usin 2 gigs. Perfect reception. Just buy this fone. K790i or K810i.

The phone has one speaker, is decently loud - may not be very loud, but is definitely clearer and really good in quality than most competitors. I'd prefer buying some good head phones and enjoy the great music quality instead of getting loud sound from the speaker.

It plays 3gp content and there's a video on youtube about somebody who has installed Windows Media Player on K790!! u may want to check that out! Also check for Total Video Converter to get SE compatible videos from any format. the converted videos are great to watch on the phone.

Hi.I should share my experience with those aspirants.It may help you make a decision Pros: -Definitely the best camera phone especially for the price of the phone. -Excellent speed -Pretty decent music phone IF we use ear phones -Perfectly visible screen under sunlight(I suggest you keep the brightness less from display option) -Good provision for shortcut keys -Super battery performance with use of all applications. Lasts 2 days for me with average use of music and camera -Sleek design -Available with 1 GB card(at least in India) -Memory stick usage doesn't slow the phone at all. -Special keys on top of display to view pictures folders. -Dedicated music player key on left side -Excellent construction.Doesn't feel that heavy and is not prone to finger prints -decent radio Cons: - Like any sony eric phone, inserting sim is very easy but removing it is pretty tough. -Only one point for charging/usb/music connection. Its high time sony started giving dedicated 3.2 mm jack for music.This point is very delicate too. -External speakers not so good for music. -Scroll stick works fine but i prefer normal four way keys instead of scroll stick. -Pretty ordinary installation software in the cd which comes with the pack. -Cannot be handled roughly. -Using keypad for sms can be difficult as distribution of key is a little cramped. I was using motorola phones b4 this. They had better keypads. But no problem in performance though-once you get used to them. Thats that for now. Will keep posting whenever i remember attributes

Yes you are correct.I've used both k550 and k750 and my lovable phone is 750 because k550 being a cybershot is very poor in camera and its key pad is the worst of the all.K750 is a nice phone.

firtly, we will need to understand one thing, that is, n73 and n80 are 3rd addition symbian phones whereas sony ericsson phones are not. It would be better if you can prioritize the features that you want. Applications or speed, speaker sound or carrying comfort. how much time you will spend on talking on phone or surfing (where battery life plays a vital role) That way whether to go for Nokia or Sony Ericsson will become an easier choice to make.

Hi I Just brought the sony ericsson k790i a couple of months back and even I was confused in the mentioned models. If you want camera clarity, then it is better to drop 5610; although the camera specs are same for all models, the photo options are very limited for 5610 and besides it doesn't support a lens cover. With N73, the problem is that its interface is on the slower side; I have hanged it myself about four to five times. With k790i, it supports a fast and responsive interface with a very good camera and sound quality in earphones. You will certainly not miss the megabass function much, however if you still want to have the best and richest sound quality, then I would suggest you to buy a sony ericsson HSM-85 headset with it, which along with the phone will still cost you lower than an N73. Also the battery life is better than both the nokia phones. The only downside is that it is a liitle delicate model, so its better to keep it in a leather case. if you have further queries then you can anytime reply back.

Bought this phone around a month back, so far the only problem that i have face is that of the battery time, with adequate usage it lasts no more than 19 hrs, one problem that may lead to this low battery time is that my daily talk time is around 2 hour approx. and i take a lot of photographs.. alot and here comes the best part of this phone. Amazing ... if you know a little about cameras you certainly can create wonders for yourself, sound is ok not best but overall better than any other phone in the price range. I suggest a 6 month use to everyone.

I have bought this phone 2 days before ... the main problem i got in it its sound ... altought its 72 channel sound .. but its less than w200i .. at least i cant expect from sony ericsson that... the main feature of the phone is 3.2 mega pixel camera .. its not work good with flash .. in day light its great ... and the best thing i found in it is its Display ... Well the K790i is a good phone with very good camera except for the following: 1.It has got no mega bass. 2.It does not store recorded videos in MP4 format.Also, even though it stores in 3GP format, the resolution never goes beyond 175 something making the videos very small to look at. 3.And last but not the least, their customer service is not very satisfactory. I bought the K790 about 5 months back.Just a little more than 2 months, the phone became dead.I send it for repairs and after 1 month the service centre said that they'll replace my phone with a new one.Now its almost 1 month and still no word from them.I've called them before and they kept on saying that I'll get by next week when actually I never get when the next week comes.So, this evening I went to the service centre and they said that I might get after 3 or 4 months.Now imagine waiting for 5 or 6 months to get back my phone.Is n't this the worst customer service. My advice to you all is buy any Sony Ericsson phones(I am not saying that they are not good) at your own risk and pray that nothing goes wrong with your phone otherwise you'll have to wait for 5 or 6 months like I am waiting now.

We know SE K790 is a good phone, cam, etc., I bought one 11 months ago (Lima, Peru). Last week, it suddenly stopped. The screen change to white and no working anymore. I sent it to my phone provider to fix it and they informe that the phone dont work due to a logical damage of itself, but they dont be clear about how can it happened. bought a K790a last year. After 6 months of owning this phone it suddenly stopped working one day. The screen would flash on and off and nothing seems to work. I sent it to Sony Ericsson to fix it and they sent it back to me saying it's water damaged even though I'm 100% sure it didn't touch water anywhere. The white strip inside the phone is still white. They claimed it could be humidity from the air that caused corrosion. How bad is this phone's design that it can be damaged from humidity??? That's just ridiculous. So now my phone is dead and they won't fix it. They wasted my time trying to call them and sending them the phone. Very rude service reps too. Worst customer support ever!!!

Previously i was using LG C2500. Its a great entry level phone with multilpe features like mp3 player, FM radio 60MB memory,Camera etc. It has everything but lacked in quality. I had faced little problems which might be very irritating. I cant take pic in low light. My mp3 didnt had Bass effect. and FM reception not clear. and also its ability to support java application is also too restricted to memory . its only 2MB . But any way i loved that phone much. After using that entry level phone i got a clear idea of how a perfect mobile should be and Wow i would say K790i is a perfect mobile as i expected. Little things which surprised me. 1.Next word prediction in writing SMS. 2.Multitasking capability is improved. 3.Java application can be minimised. Even several java application can be opened at the same time. 4.Ability to add as many no.of groups in contacts. 5.it has shortcut key for music player. It opens radio when ur head set is connected. the logic in which it work depends on ur previous usage. if u had used radio and next time when u press the music key it will open the radio. else if u had used music player earlier, the next time it will open music player. A tiny bit of artificial intelligence. 6.Email in text messagin can be easily configured for gmail and can be used. its working fine. Even u can upload any data from ur mobile to anywhere using the Email option. 7.While sending messages u can see the status of the message being sent in outbox. it might sound silly but while sending message to a group with twenty members supppose if it says mess sending failed. then u cannot figure out where it got failed. jus go to outbox and view status. u can see some messages with sent tag and one with failed and some with queued ... and also when u try to resend the same message it wont go for the person who already received the message. only persons with queud and failed tag will receive the message. such a wonderful creation..... 8.Next wonderful thing in sony is the ability to minimise the download while browsing. This is another multitasking ability of the phone and even u can browse in landscape mode which gives u better browsing experience. 8.Battery is another highly intelligent thing in this mobile. When u browse, listern to music, send message or play games etc.. the battery might look like decreasing in power. But when u quit all the things and keep it in idle mode. after some time u can notice that battery would have boosted up. I think battery power has been splitted for multimedia usage and phone usage..!!! another intelligent idea from sony. 9.Response time of the mobile is also very fast. overall this mobile is simply superb.. little things make ur life easier. CYbershot camera is really awesome.... Awesome flash light. Crystal clear pictures. Autofocus is really great. I am proud that i have choosen the right mobile. As others said joystick and back cover has to be carefully handled. Tips: to avoid joystick getting damaged soon, dont use it for selecting menus.just use it for navigation. use left and right buttons for selecting.... i bought the k790i 1 year ago..it was awesome but after 6months problems arose! the phone started freezing frequently then my calls would just cut off after an average of 8minutes. so i gave it back for what they say "software update" the SE crew told me there is a small problem in the software but now that its updated it will face no porblems.. but no more than 1 week it again started switching off by itself lagging all the time.. my goodness i just sent it back to the SE technical team who again did a "software update" !!! buy it at your own risk.. i was really deceived..

You can use opera mini 4.0.1 for net browser which is very good. I play two games often = solytare and aquaria. I got the K790a last week and is a great phone. Camera is great, u can choose VGA,1MP,2MP and 3MP. Pics in pc looks great! Video records in 176x220, but looks good anyway, i put videos in the k790 that are 320x240 and they look great! Joystick works great! the phone never freeze! keypad is just GREAT, people say it look ugly and difficult to press, but for me is simply great! screen colors are great!!! radio works 100% perfect, the mp3 player is almost the same as in W series. here in gsmarena it says that internal it comes with 64mb but mines have 73mb, anyway i have a M2 512mb card, enough for me, some music and pics. I came from the A1200 and it was a really nice change, this phone is great, i ll say 8/10 , any questions feel free to mail me, bye!

If you pull the cover off and pull out the battery, look on the back with the IEMI it should list the wher this mobile is made and the code "07W17" or something like that is the date it was made, 07 is the year W is Week and 17 is what week it was made so if it's "07W52" it would be made the last week of the year last year and you have a years warranty from Sony Ericsson if it was to stop working.

i just got this phone and it's brilliant. the camera quality is simple awesome. although the speakers arent tht loud but the quality is really good. and through the ear phones it gets even better. The keypad is bit disappointing and the ineternl memory is low, so you have to buy a mem card. But on the whole a great phone.

The K790a is a great cell with a lot of good features. A great mp3 player.A fantastic camera. A nice interface. Lot of options.etc... But like for every cell theres some bad things like the slide for the camera who look fragile. But theres not a lot of bad features. I give this cell a great note of 8.5 maybe 9 /10. Very nice Cell

Well.. well... well... So there r lost of thumb ups & downs regarding to this phone... in my opinion, fm the date of purchase I haven't face ne such problems with this phone. Still its working pretty good... the most known function of this phone is d camera... no doubts 3.2MP takes much pretty snapshots... in the bright sunny day as well as in total darken room.... credit goes to xenon flash which is simply fabulous... Sound clarity & quality is awesome.... but little bit disappointment is about phone speaker. Loudspeaker is not that much loud here... at highest level, sound cracks! Worthy to put sound 1 level below than d max & I think that level is also pretty enough. This is acceptable while considering the camera functions.... guys this is a camera phone & not made as a music phone... music listening on headphone is very nice & quality not falls behind in comparison with walkman phones... only it lags behind due to its speakers.... when I was there in "The Mobile Shop" to purchase this phone a guy who was there to replace his brand new Nokia N70 to the dealer bcoz the model's screen was flicker a lot!!!... So u cant give 100% guarantee of ne phone model.... d manufacturing problem is same with d dumb Nokia or d smart SE.... u can blindly put trust on SE bcoz there r no other serious competitor in comparison with SE in sound & camera picture quality. If there is, then prove it here.... u cant get such a nice phone at this rate of 11.5K Rs. For more solution to your quarries, kindly check my previous post of, K90i's +ve & -ve points....

the lens cover is not a problem when typing txt and i cannot compare the joystick with the other device your inquiring about but i have only had the phone for about 5 months and when i push down on the joystick it does not recognize it and i also have issues with my ringtones, ill customize it to a specific person but then after a week it will defualt to the sony ericsson ringtone. besides that its a great phone, when of the best i have ever had and i would prob by it again

Xeon flash with 1 MP cam will give excellent results,nothing more than camera pics. sound goes to default with each theme single speaker choked output. esp slidder on cam scratches cell body still lens becomes dusty. SE u should now make corders instead

I've had mine for almost a year now, and yes...about 6 weeks after getting it the joystick wouldn't register down-clicks anymore. It took 5 minutes of taking off the joystick panel and putting a drop of oil in the button underneath to fix it. Never been better. Works better now than before. Get this phone, it's incredible!

I have preferred this mobile over n73 for giving me more operating speed, IR and xeon flash, more battery back up and to some extent the price, though price was not the deciding factor. both mobiles have joystick, which i don't like, because of undurability, but i heard 790 joystick is better than n 73's. Well this phone has been here for quite a long time now, and Im going to buy it now, as it is fully packed with camera features, decent look, though bulky, 30% better battery time and 2x operating speed 40% less price than N73. I don't want a symbian phone, my laptop serves that purpose. its also edge enabled and has ir led for vision in pitch dark. Im havin a problem with this phone. The backlight is not working properly. If the phone is locked, it would show the display screen would light up and would not turn off. Hi everyone I would like to purchase the sony k790 (I saw it at a local sony store and I am not sure exactly if it is OK to use it out of the US since I also ran across the internet like this site and sony site and others that there is such K790i and K790a. (I asked the sony people and they seemed puzzling about it. And so far I could not see the K790a and K790i at any local stores I stopped by. I really prefer to buy it locally for ease of questions and local support and so on even though I know it is a bit higher in price than on the internet. I like the K790 and i really enjoy sony's product on these high quality picture phones and there are also many good features i just have one problem with this phone and its with durability i know phones are delicate to begin with and your bound to get scratches but if you are planning on buying this phone i recommend purchasing a case as well all the corners on my phone have chipped off the silver around the outside just falls right off the phone. Hi... It's an excellent phone. The phone has a cybershot 3.2 MP MP3 player bluetooth Infrared Extendable memory Rugged look (Semi executive also) Lens protecting cover Good speeds when conected to internet Fm and many more. Personally i have been using this phone to record converstations with clients. This makes me to save my paper and ink.... The clarity of voice recorded is awesome.... Music no comments. They are simply superb.. But converting music to 3gp pr AAC format's tends to loose down the clarity. But that's not the Mobile's mistake.... I have dropped this phone atleast from 2 -3 feet nearly 10 - 15 times accidently. The phone still continues to prove it stability... The video format is not that good... Any way you can't have all the good apples in a basket... My vote for this mobile is 10 on 10....

This phone is the full package. Just got back from a 2 week trip to the UK. Threw a 1G memory card in it. Snapped over 600 pictures and almost an hour of video. The video quality isn't great but the sound is outstanding. The pics are better than a 3.2 MP camera would produce. The joystick stands up to rugged use (i'm hard on my phones). I've had a little trouble with the software to use the USB cord that came with it - but I suspect it's my ancient laptops issue. I love my Sony.

I currently own a K790A and I really didn't think I could do everything I've done with the camera. It's really amazing! And for the guy that asked if it has good sound, it sounds great, I hear at AAC+ at 64kbps with the built-in headphones / hands-free and it sounds great... a little low but still sounds great.

For you guys out there thinking about getting this phone: It is incredible. It is an iphone killer imho. I'm not a "fanboy", so I'll first state the 2 major drawbacks of this phone as opposed to an Iphone: 1>The screen is smaller. 2>No touch screen. For folks asking about what M2 sticks it will support: I have a 4 gig by Sandisk in mine right now, working great, and rumor is that the M2 format can eventually go to 32 gigs. Picture Quality: It isn't nearly as good as my Sony s717, which is maybe 3 or 4 lbs, and maybe 6 inches long. This is the first true "Cybershot" camera combined with a phone, meaning it's always with you. I would compare the pics to a compact/pocket digital you could snag at Walmart for maybe $150. It has a REAL flash, not an LED, and "bestpic" which takes 10 pics in fast succession, so you can save the one in which one of your subjects does not have their eyes shut, etc, and ditch the rest. It has a pretty killer camera feature set otherwise too: One feature I really like is the panoramic shot: This mode will promt you to take a left, center, and right picture of, say a beach, then automatically "stitch" all 3 together for a panoramic shot. The audio playback is quite good IF you take the time to set up the EQ correctly. The "stereo widening" effect is similar to a Hughes system; quite expanding, but not obtrusive. I have seen complaints about people not being able to play videos/movies as well as they liked on this phone, and it confused me at first too. Most of them do not realize that They should go to the "entertainment center" to play a movie instead of simply clicking on the file in the folder. If you play them this way, you can back up, pause, ffwd, etc simply using the thumbstick. Be warned though, this is the one drawback of the k790: it's screen is smaller, so if you desire to watch Jackass 2 whilst driving down the highway at 70mph, perhaps this isn't the phone for you ;) . However I currently have a full copy of Blader Runner Directors cut, a dozen or so music videos, and approx 1000 mp3's on my 4g Sandisk M2 stick atm, which I got on ebay for about $75, and it's maybe 3/4 full. If you decide to get one (or many other phones for that matter), There is a pretty cool freeware prog I found called "Miksoft Mobile Media Converter", that will take most full sized versons of videos, and crunch them down to a size appropriate for your phone. If anyone finds another freebie that does the same thing, please post! Awesome phone, I would recommend one highly, especially considering that the M2 card format is already at 4 Gigs, and possibly can go to 32...

well if you want to master reset, just backup your music, pictures, etc. on your computer or on your card, usually it just resets everything on the phone, not the memory card, but I'm paranoid and would back it up just in case haha

K790i & K800i has barely nothing different. physically the only difference is where the speaker is to hear people talk..the K800 has a small hole and the K790 doesn't...other than that I think it's only a band thing...not sure what it's for but it can't be that important..I still love my K790A lol

The W580 would be great if you're really into music, my friend has one and it's beautyfull, it's also very much thinner than the K790. It's a riser type phone and is sleek and stylish. Also the camera on the W580 is a 2MP compared to the 3.2 of the K790. the K790 also has 9timex digital zoom, W580 has 4 times..but digital zoom sucks anyways haha. The bettery life on the W580 is also a little better, not by much but the difference is there, 7 hours of talk time for the K790 and 9 hours for the W580.

had this phone for a bit more than a month now i say its fairly great with amazing features.only problems come in the games / apps folder which tends to be a conflict to many k790/k800 owners which eventually leads you to an 'operation failed' popup and blocks you from entering the folders..no good software has been released yet sadly.

This phone is the most hyped phone. Build quality is poor, frequent hanging of the phone despite software upgrades. ear piece going bad, name it and you have the problem. Picture quality of the phone is fairly good. Thats if the cam does not hang.... Not worth the price and effort to buy it.

I must accept that k790 has interesting features as well like the xenon flash and some others. Ok, I just got the phone yesterday and I LOVE IT!!! The camera is excellent (very clear pics), easy to use, and has many features (i.e. music player/FM radio)etc. I just have one question: When I transfered music (mp3 format) from my PC to the cell, in the ring tunes folder (in the phone) I see the folder which it creates (i.e. the artist) and when I click open on that, it says "No Files". When I go to the file manager, music, I can see and hear my song but when I click use as, ring tune, it says: "can not set this file as ring tune"? Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help?

Hi SEmaniacs!!!!!!!!!(just like me haha!!), this phone it�s just wonderful, i have just one complain and it is about firmware (R1JC002), when i finish watching a video, it "blocks", well just go to something like lock mode, screen gets off and i have to press '*' key, i had read about this bug and syas that the firmware version, is the problem, i�ve tried to update it, but seus says that i already have the newest, i really don�t trust in other firmware updater, so, can anybody help me??? how can i get the latest firmware in seus??, thanks for your help and good times with SE!!!!!!

ANSWERING TO KEN: No, of course it's possible dude! Go to menu, settings, sounds & alerts, ringtone and choose it! I did it and always works with mp3, mp4, AAC, mid, wav, ogg and WMA files. But, perhaps you should convert (or re-convert) your audio files in a device format... is better you search for a program that does it and BINGO! I hope this help you hugs from Brazil!

it's normal when your using the disc2phone software because it only rips the music from the cd then change its bitrate., it's not a problem

Hey, I have the k790 for around 2 months and tried to put some music in it. Now I used the disc to phone software and downloaded some cd to the phone. No one of the titles or artists can be seen on the screen and they are all in the same list 'unknow artist' 'unknow album'. What have i done wrong and can some one help me. I have 234 songs on my phone and when you do not know the title it is getting a little bit useless. please help!!!

to the person from toronto, the k800 is 3G but unfortunately its UMTS. Rogers at the moment only supports HSDPA. and Only works in the golden horseshoe at the moment. which is 905 289 416 and 647 area codes.

SE K800i is a 3G phone with a secondary video camera while the K790i is an EDGE handset without any secondary video camera. Now is that clear?

im loving this phoen so far.. i jsut puleld it out the box. i was just wondering if anyone knew how to adjust the volume without going intot he settings. it says that the zoom buttons for the camera on the right side of it also function as volume control but when i hit them it just gives me the phone status which i dont care about. anyone know how to fix this?

The difference between k790 & K800 is K800 is a Europe/Asia tri-band (lack of 850 mhz) and it is a G3... but its useless in America because we use 3.5G in Canada... HSDPA it is. and K790 is America tri-band (much MUCH better reception in Toronto) Nokia N73 over all is nice because of the extra features, but personally i love SE's user interface... (esp. the snooze on alarm clock) and just the nice look of the k790. I'm using k750 right now.. and the reception sucks @$$... decided its definitely time to give up this phone. So moving on to k790 it is :)

i had that phone. its super. but it had a problem that it sometimes hanged or simply went off. that happens sometimes after 5 days sometimes after 15 days. did anyone experiance that too.

For Mark: No its not like Nokia, Dust don't get inside the screen. For Crap bag/Linx: No dear we cannot increase its sound more then its default. For Adriana: Go to ur fone book, then go to options - advanced - backup to M.S After that again reach the same menu till advanced then in there select send all contacts-via bluetooth/ir/e-mail, transfer it to ur PC. A 10kb file editable in MS Outlook will be created. Use this whole fone book with any Sonyericsson as well as Nokia fone.(No need to transfer all numbers 1 by 1) Yes we can make playlist in this fone as well, just go to music player-playlists-new playlists-add

woow the se k790 is the booom the camera is perfect i've also learnt about a secret code on the sonyeicsson phones.any one that wants the code hollla me with ma addi.theres no point having a 5 and 8 mega pixel camera becoz the k790 3.2 mega pixel camera would just blow them away the pictures are well clean and crispts clean,i have a problem with the volume when listenin t music on the music player is lower than xpected,the usb is very fast for people who like to get things done quick.but if u have a fast comouter transfers would be even faster.the stabilizr only would in two modes. they r the twiligth landscape, and landscape mode,vise versa with the flash.ive had it for 5 weeks and im angry becoz it has a scratch on it.the internet is fast,bluetooth transfer are exceptionaly well also.any one knows how to get the volume of the music player xtremely high?????

camera is good(only still picts)..not the video one...but over all phone is expensive..not worth the price...should have been atleast 2000 rs cheaper...bad thing about it is "sim switches off when connected with computer in file transfer mode."

Im having problems with copying contacts form the SIM card. I cant even see any phone numbers or SMSs which are on my SIM card! and trying to save anything into the SIM gives out error saying that the memory on SIM is full...I deleted lots of contacts and SMS from the SIM using another phone set but still the same problem. I used the copy contact from SIM wizard but faild. PLEASE HELP. This is a great phone n I want to be happy with it.

i think all other review are missing some feature \ software of this phone: a)Best Pic - when it is active and u take a click it takes 7 picture witthin 1 sec and u can take perfect pic of fast moving object. b)Image Stablizer - it lowen down the bluring of image when it is shaking i personnaly dont use this phone so can any user tell are these programs sucessful and also comment on sound quality of the phone.

@shakti k790 has EDGE support and k800 has 3G support. You can decide on the phone you need based on what you want out of the two.

@ Mannan The joystick is the same used in other SE phones(K750i etc). This is the worst joystick ever used in mobile phones. Once damaged, you will need to replace it time to time for the period until you have this phone. Believe me this is my personal experience and the same was told to me by the mechanic in the service centere of SE while replacing me the fourth joystick.

I got the K790 about 3 weeks ago now. I work for Rogers Wireless in Vancovuer Canada. This phone is one of the best handsets I have had in my years of using phones and working with them. Of course its not a Data Device for EMail, but it does make a great MP3 Phone, and the best Camera Phone!!! I love the Xenon flash with it, great in the clubs and for night pictures. Way better than a LED light.

Cons- Camera does not give satisfactory results if zoom exceeds beyond 8x.Flash is unavailable in BestPic mode.It can record video in 176x144 3GP(QCIF).No night mode for camera.The key pad is bit uncomfortable & "Joystic is Delicate" so handle with care!It has no photo light so you can't use it as "Torch".The phone is somewhat oversized. But whatever,it attracts attention of everyone.

Does anyone know why I cannot use my own songs that I put on the phone as ringtunes or alarm signals? My last phone the Sony Ericsson S710 had no problems and it was a great feature so I didn't have to Pay $3.00 for a ringtune from the service provider for a part of the song I didn't even want.

K790a is a tremendous phone!!!.What I need to know, if somebody could tell me, is why my phone is not having the light blue indicator that fades away when the reach is poor, that is situated up the power signal bars, in the top-left of the screen.The K750i comes with it. Does anybody knows what exactly minds that bar? Can it be added in some way or another??? The best camera-phone in the world for this days. Frendly software, very easy to handle by anyone. I have had a W600i, is very good walkman-phone, but is never like this. I can highly recomend this phone to anyone who loves the photography, it's a real Cyber-shot. "new user" - playing mp3 its a quite heavy load for cellphones, also try setting screen brightness to lowest setting and keep the bluetooth off. "juvraj" - box contents are... headphones/handsfree (wired) - horrible btw software CD cellphone duh home charger 64mb memorystick m2 and one battery " " - it's just fine, I kinda like it, the camera is the best part. Note that I just don't like Sony Ericssons, but this one is different. Comes with just one battery. You can't use Pro DUO, you have to use the M2... it's smaller in physical size, thus the DUO won't fit.

I've been using this phone for a month... my little review: Cons: The volume of the normal speaker is way too low (the one for phone calls) Case and batt cover are becoming loose (starting to crack) Mega ultra cheap headphones and 64mb memory stick is a joke The fact that it's a Sony Ericsson (not cool, sorry) Pros: Nice camera (bit better than the n73) Powerful flash, REAL FLASH, don't be afraid of using this in dark conditions Rock-solid OS (I have to admit it) Some of your questions The flash works as a real sony digi cam, while focusing a ultra bright orange led lits and then the big flash discharges (theres an available java app that allows you to use this orange led as a torch light.) No joystick/charging problems yet. (as my previous k700) Same FM reception as walkman phones. Thanks.

I have this phone from the last 2 months and it is a great phone. It clicks an excellent photograph even in extreme darkness ie 0 lumens. it also has excellent battery life and great screen resolution. it also has video ringtones. the only problem is that it comes with a small memory card (ie 64 mb) as it clicks a photo of size ranging from 600kb to 900kb at 3Mega pixel.

Its been over a month now when I bought this. It is the best I have ever had. I also kept N73 for a while, but I replaced it for this set as its camera is far better and this is better looking and a more stable handset. Its BATTERY rocks, I have never seen a better battery life thhan this set. I recharged my phone 7 days ago, and it still shows about 25% battery remaining. Awsome battery, awsome camera, awsome sound quality (I bought HPM-70 headphones, the ones that come with W810 for better sound quality). In simple, I love using it and it has never hanged or restarted uptil now. I would recommend this set even if you can afford N93 !!!.

the flash just works like a normal digital camera. When focusing, the orange light shines then the flash activates when picture is snapped. Amazing phone btw... i've had it for 3 months now and no problems whatsoever.
