Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A40 - User Reviews

  • Yet again retaining the Iconia brand

  • Where is the iconia A3-A50 ?

  • Hi Brian I found the sd slot but try as I might I cannot insert a micro sd card into it puzzled Thanks for any advice

  • Too bad this tablet never got Nougat update and don't probably get any updates anymore :/ Last update was May 2017 security update. I also noticed Acer has made a VERY similar tablet that has no real improvements over A3-A40 other than it has Nougat out of the box. Really cheap by Acer! In fact, this newer model has 2 speakers and not 4 as it's predecessor had. I like Acer but their Android support sucks!

  • I agree!

  • Bought it 3 days ago. With unique looks, hdmi out, FHD screen, 4 speakers, 6100 mah battery, 32 gb space, 2gb ram, and a 1.5 Ghz SoC.... For now: totally satisfied, good UI, fast, fluent, media oriented, great sound, cant exactly run newest 3d games out there, but older ones does with ease... Brilliant tab and best buy for the price.

  • Most of these complaints seem to be about the SD card holder or lack of one, very disappointing. Read the small booklet provided with the tablet, it tells you where the SD card slot is located, it really isn't rocket science. I admit I too was puzzled at first but a quick glance at the booklet soon sorted it! I purchased the 2017 version with Android 7 which performs very well. By formatting the SD card on the tablet its capacity is added to the internal storage. I am getting 6 hours battery life with medium to heavy use. My only criticism is the plastic case which does not feel very secure and is quite "clicky"

  • After using for about 6 months I will give 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for this thing everything's 👍except the battery life especially when gaming otherwise this thing is good value of money

  • Buying this device is a waste of money, from the first time of use it is non stop restarting and nothing can solve the problem!

  • Hello, does anyone have any experiences with multiple user acoounts on this tablets? I have tried many things and nothing works. The goal is to have different users available on standby screen (like on Windows). Found some options to do it (even app in play store that does this), but rooting is needed and have no clue how to do it. Google options do not work...

  • Sorry I meant ACER (not Asus) in the comment below.

  • Asus = garbage This unit uses excessive power in IDLE and within a few days will die (from full charge and never used). I've tweaked every setting possible to try to fix it. Asus will not fix it. Nor will they update it. Forget about Oreo (v8). They didn't even provide Nougat (v7). Asus will just sell and forget. Never again Asus.

  • Hey everyone, I got a problem with this device ; it seems that this device shuts off on it's idle (stand by).. Is anybody facing the same issue?

  • same problem for me , you can try rooting the device and also changing some custom rom on this device which will make this device runs smoother as well as with some impressive performance ............................................................. or else if you have some better ideas you can share it over in this blog please ................ thank you everyone

  • Can this device be used as a IR TV remote (for 10 years old TV)? Thanks

  • It is not scratch resistant. Buy Asus zenpad. 1000 times beter tablet.

  • Hi! Does anyone know if the screen is scratch resistant? If you own this tablet too please reply. Thanks! 😉 😊😗

  • This tablet weighs 529g.

  • Acer TAB 10 A3-140 has mini USB. Can it connect to TV using HMDI cable s0 diplaying the screen on the tablet?

  • I bought this tablet a couple of months ago and I already sent it twice to service for the same issues: 1) Green border all over the screen 2) Standby blocks. Have to restart every time Unfortunately they did not repair the tablet in either case. I will have to keep this tablet like this. So long ACER

  • Can you use a 128gb micro sd card as main storage in this tablet????

  • Try doing this Connect the charger and try to push and hold the power button and simultaneously the up volume key Or try this site

  • Hello everyone, I'm just wondering in my tab right now and I need some help here. Well I'm from Philippines and I just bought this tab last November. First, the performance of the tab was incredibly smooth. I downloaded some apps to test the capability of this tab and again it was good. After a month while I was playing, the game got stuck (literally stuck and has no function at all) the game cannot be rolled up and down because the screen doesn't function at all. After a few seconds it automatically shuts down. I was so nervous that time what happen to my tab cause it's new. After that, i'll did some updates hoping that it runs again normally but unfortunately it has no use and its gotten worse. After that it keeps on shutting down while I'm playing or even surfing in the net. Touch issue also occured after some updates. I had the latest update but then again nothing happen. Now my tab is in its own control. Please please I need some help here.

  • otg ready

  • Same problem here dont know how to save picture from camera to ext memory

  • You're right, the memory card slot is there, but it's damn near invisible, so I can see how some folks would struggle finding it. As you describe it, with the screen facing you, the hdmi port is on the left. On my unit there is a screw quite visible to the right of this port. The memory card slot is behind this screw, between the screw and the back of the tablet. Easy once you know where it is, a bit of of a ??? moment before you actually spot it.

  • Thanks in advance to those whom answer+all readers.A simple question!!?The differences between 16,32,64...GB inside memory, nevertheless with the 256GB external memory and marshmallow 6 OS,data can be transferred to the external memory through the film manager!!!?Just materialistic goals or....!?Thanks again.Justice Rights.

  • Problem, the camera saves pictures and videos only in the internal memory, and not in the memory card...How can i change that ?

  • Strange that people can't find the memory card slot...just open the flap, hdmi is on the left and memory card slot is top right. You can see the contacts Inside and it is even written at the front of the slot ! Good Tablet, speakers are super loud and clear. Front camera is bad, but you get a great a 10" screen, 16 GB memory and 2 GB RAM for just 200 euros. Looks good too in black and gold. Love it. Love it

  • Yes there is definitely micro sd slot at the back of the golden flap. Might me hard to spot but it's there! 🙂

  • no HDMI in this model.

  • I bought my acer iconia tab 10 just over a week ago and was due to buy a mcro sd card for it today. When I opened the metallic flap at the back I found that there was no slot, just a plastic cover with a slight depression. I took the tablet back to Argos and explained the situation. They were very helpful and arranged for another tablet to be available in store this afternoon. When I collected it I opened the box before leaving the shop. This tablet was the same. The customer services were great and arranged for a replacement tablet to be available at another store. I hurried down there, told my story once again and was handed the new tablet. SAME AGAIN. I had to get a refund.

  • Hi there, I notice that you and a few other people on this site have had problems in locating the MicroSD card slot in the Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A40. I have just bought this tablet and found the MicroSD card slot straight away after opening the gold coloured flap above ICONIA on the back. To locate the MicroSD card slot, with the flap open and with the screen facing you, on the right hand side in between the screw and the other gold coloured part on the back, there is a small gap, this is the MicroSD card slot. Hope this helps.

  • Missing Micro SD port found! I feel foolish but need not have felt so if Acer had included a diagram and/or a few words of explanation in the online manual. The solution requires a leap of faith in Acer fabrication standards. If you don't have perfect vision a strong torch and/or a magnifying glass, and a small, thin bladed screwdriver will help. Gently detach the top section of brassy metallic cover from the middle top edge of the tablet using the small screwdriver to lever it away. It remains attached to the tablet's body by a strip of black plastic. Manouvere the loosened brassy cover aside. Looking down at the top edge of the tablet with the screen facing away from you, you will see a small screw to the left and to the far right a micro HDMI socket. Don't remove the screw. Level with the screw at the edge of the tablet facing you, is a narrow vertical gap between the black plastic and the inside of the remaining brassy cover (the bit marked Iconia). Examination of the vertical black plastic with the torch and magnifying glass reveals it has a shinier surface vertically in the gap adjacent to the screw head. You might think that poking your micro SD card into this gap is a quick route to losing it forever in the innards of the tablet but it is not a fabrication fault - it is the micro SD socket/slot. Holding the micro SD card vertically with the contacts to the bottom on the side facing away from you, and the tablet screen facing away from you, push the micro SD card into the vertical space. You will feel a springy resistance when there is a mm or so of the card's top edge still visible. You need to press the top of the card downward with the screwdriver blade until it engages and does not spring back, and is pretty much flush with the top of the gap. The spring is quite strong and if he micro SD card is not latched properly inside the port it may pop out and have you on hands and knees looking for it. Once latched in you can replace the top brassy cover. The cover is not meant to physically hold the micro SD card down against the spring. If this happens the tablet will not recognise the card storage space because the card is not engaged in the slot. Powering up and initialising/registering the tablet I downloaded an app called A1 SD Bench. On opening this shows RAM 1,491 MB total, Internal Memory 19,633 MB free and my 64GB micro SD card with 59,163 MB free. For some reason it also temporarily shows the internal memory again as an SD card with 19,633 MB free as well. You can check the micro SD card is working with a benchmark test and then delete the free app if no longer required. Alternatively In Android settings look inside "Storage and USB" and you will see sections for internal tablet storage and also your micro SD card as portable storage. You may get a notification asking whether you want newly recognised SD storage to be portable or fixed for use only with the tablet as if it were internal memory. The second requires a slow reformatting of the SD card. I leave you to look up the implications of that. I left mine as portable so I can use the card to transfer files with other devices. It may also be useful to know that a micro SD card in excess of 32GB needs to be formatted as ExFAT. My card came preformatted as ExFAT but I slow formatted it on a PC as ExFAT again to make sure the full capacity would be recognised when inserted into the Iconia tablet. I had read some web pages concerned with only 32GB being recognised on some devices, usually because they were preformatted as FAT32. NTFS format won't work. Sorry for the lengthy post but I wanted to help anyone else who couldn't find the micro SD port! Comments about going to Specsavers need not be made!

  • WARNING: UK 3rd Sep 2016. Just bought one. Micro SD port appears to be missing - just a unmoveable plastic strip between retaining screw and the micro HDMI port. Online manual is useless. Best not to buy one until this problem is resolved. Seriously misleading advertising or else a manufacturing cock-up of large proportion. I hope I am wrong but it looks like the tablet is to be returned for a refund. I look forward to a response from Acer support but I'm not going to hold my breath.

  • I brought my iconia tab 10 A3-A40 home from Argos UK in cheltenham today and also had a 64GB micro SD card ready for immediate memory expansion. After gently pulling the brassy cover loose, and with the screen facing away from me, I saw the small screw to the left and the micro HDMI socket to the right of a micro SD card sized depression. in the middle. It looked like you had to remove the small screw and a masking plastic (not rubber) strip to get access to the slot. You certainly cannot insert a micro SD card into the shallow depression. I couldn't prise the masking plate away to reveal the SD card slot - if it is a masking plate. The manual is, of course, absolutely no use at all. I don't think my tablet actually has a slot for an SD card at all - if so then I will return it to Argos tomorrow as all the documentation and the blurb on the Argos web site is quite explicit that the tablet accepts a micro SD card - and it was a significant factor in my decision to buy the tablet. I am very disappointed with the lack of clear instructions from Acer. Anyone else having such a problem?

  • Yeah, that almost gave me a heart attack because at first i didn't find the slot and i already had 64gb SD card ready for this tablet. Acer did a really good job hiding it :P Anyway, i hope this tablet gets Nougat 7.0 treatment sooner than later :)

  • Hi, how do we initialize or find GPS

  • With the screen facing away from you the SD slot will be between you and the little screw. I had to use a flashlight to find it myself, but it is there

  • Here you go my friend,i hope this is what you looking for..

  • Use the mic or type in Acer Iconia Tab 10 user's manual.

  • Where do I/U get a copy of the User's Guide; I would really like to be able to use this device, the way it was advertised on the Shopping Channel.

  • Bonjour, Oui il y a GPS Hello, GPS YES

  • Suppose to be a micro SD slot, mine is sealed with a piece of rubber with a screw, took out screw and tried to lift cover there is not a SD slot underneath, though it was sold to me that it had one, there is a HDMI slot and the SD slot is supposed to be right next to it. Manual also states that it has one. Does anyone else have the same problem?

  • Its wifi only, no 3g or 4g. Its really just a budget tablet, costs under 100 in cash converters.

  • Does tablet has GPS? Because it's not written

  • Umm... for me, battery is working normally like it should. I don't know what's wrong with yours?!?

  • it's eating the battery for couple of hours, its awful, don't bye it

  • Best tablet i've ever had! Absolutely brilliant price/value and it looks beautiful too :)

  • why does this remind me of galaxy note 10.1
