I got this phone in the sunmer. I bought one before and the charger literally died after a week. Now with a new one also bought in the summer, I suddenly got a message on my screen about my battery. It said something about being able to explode if it overheats, etc. The battery had to be replaced by someone from the Acer company. I couldn't get rid of it until I agreed I had read the message. Anyone else get this pop up?

Hi my niece's acer just shot off after it said "update phone". Now it just stays off. No power at all. I charged the battery via external charger and still nothing. What can i do to switch it on?

I have had the Z222 for about 2 years now. The longer I use it, the screen becomes more and more difficult to sees ias the visibility of the screen is so low. Is this happening to others? Am I doing/using the cellphone wrongly> This I am afraid does not convince me that I should go for acer again. In all other aspects it is a great little Phone. Mike

Poor quality phone. GPS died after a year. Shortly after that it failed to recognize any SIM cards inserted in either slots. Wi-fi and Apps still work though.

i have this phone for over a year now and it really worked on my nerves: -charging: i have some kind of a problem with my charging cable/phone, and i have to place the cable in a weird way to make it charge. -headphones: doesn't always recognise the headphones i plug in, i have to restart the phone to solve it. -restarting: sometimes when i restart the phone, apps disappear from the home screen, and i have to place them back from the list with all apps. -camera: somtimes the camera doesn't work, and i have to restart the phone. sometimes it doesn't even work when i restart the phone, so i have to wait a few days before it works again. It is nice though that it's so cheap, but i wouldn't buy it if i were you.

No updates for this phone have been released recently. Acer seems to have dropped support. You're probably running Android version 5.0 without any security patch level at all, and Acer probably won't release any updates to change that in the future. You might look at some 3rd party custom ROMs, but they come with serious concerns about stability, privacy, and security. How do you know you can trust the (probably anonymous) person who produced the custom ROM in the first place? If you stick with Acer's stock OS, then you can use the Google Play Store to keep your installed apps up to date, and Google Play Services regularly updates itself to check and ensure that none of your installed apps are malicious. That's probably about the best you can hope for with this phone.

I bought this phone on January 2017 in my country, Indonesia, for about 800000 rupiahs (pretty cheap price, about 60 usd according to today's currency). Since then it has fallen to the water three times, dropped, or getting rained, but fortunately it's stil functioning until now. I'm quite impressed. I bought this phone not expecting many features as this is really cheap, but feature-wise, it's quite decent. The camera isn't the best but I've seen worse so I think it's pretty good already, with touchfocus and LED flash. It's still Dual Core, but yeah, better than Single Core at least. The battery life is really bad, but since it's 1300 mAh I didn't expect much since the beginning. This phone can get hot at times and better to let it rest for a bit when that happens, or disable some apps that cause the problems, and all is good. What I really love the most from my phone is the texture of the back. It's not slippery and it feels nice on my hands (that get sweaty often). All in all, 3.5/5. But this if you want a cheap phone and don't expect much.

This phone is pretty much useless now. Every since the beginning, I had to toggle airplane mode in order to get cell signal working again after it lost signal (which is all the time where I live). Now, even after a factory reset it is so slow, and I have to power cycle it in order to type anything without frustration because it starts choosing the wrong keys. I bought this phone new 1 year ago. It is made to be a disposable device.

My Z220 has proven useless for my needs. It will receive texts but will not send them until sometimes hours after I've input them. I was advised the remedy was to do a factory reset, which I did, but that only worked for 2 of the next texts and it was right back to where it been. You get what you pay for I guess. I will not ever consider buying anything with ACER name on it in future.

simply the worst phone I have used always heating up, worst battery life ever, and one sim slot doesn't work. After the system files among other things you are left with 5gb internal memory.

My phone always gets slow and freezes up, and takes forever to install apps the brightness also sucks not to mention the battery life and how this phone is locked to Speakout and no other mobile Sim cards work. If there's a solution to speed up this thing that would be great! When it freezes up, every single app is closed and gaming apps are force stopped yet it still slows down 2 times a dayday, REALLY ANNOYING.

Surprisingly I like small form factor (used to have 5 inch one). good GPS strong WIFI. No issues with apps. screen is ok but not great (low resolution ) on a negative side : slow processor , sometimes gets hot, low RAM, bluetooth is 4.0 but not LE! (real disappointment ).

Awful phone. Cannot run updates out of the box because it requires a (not included) SD card. Absolutely disgraceful. Not to mention the spelling errors contained in the set-up program. Very amateur product all-around. This is the last time. After repeated bad luck with smartphones, I will revert back to my home phone. Done with this.

I bought this phone around sept 2015, so far it is OK except fast dried battery but with power bank problem solved. wifi works well, sound works well, screen works well, but sometimes little bit laggy when open app to much.

I´ve bought one unit the liquid Z200 some months ago and i have problems, the phone switch off . With waranty, I wait for 1 month and but it was given to me a new one the liquid Z220, much better, and it seems to me very good, about battery I can´t say anything but I sugest to buy a power bank is cheap and good for traveling.....

pro : - nice phone, with about one day on wifi average usage - about 10 times dropped 1 meter, no crack at all (not using any screen protctor) con : - 1300mah does suffer using 3g, only last about 5-6 hour on average usage so, does anyone know how to get higher capacity battery for this phone? maybe 2000mah would do! if im not finding better battery solution i will sell this ACER, sorry for bad english

I have the same problem too. why it is prevalent in acer z220s only, I don't know. But I sure hope a permanent solution would be available soon. If not it all boils down to warranty which i dont want to happen.

I had the same problem before, what I did is I installed a new sms app . After that didnt encountered the oroblem again. :)

Phone works ok for the price. Cons: Screen is not viewable at an angle; It can lose your phone network if you travel through a dead spot...seems to not refresh itself or get "handed off" to the cell network. Fix for me is goto Settings/More/Cellular network/Network Operators and tap "Choose Automatically"...; The Acer "Home" screen has failed. I use Quick mode now. A reset would likely fix it but how long?

It should run any games but don't expect some big games will be run smoothly Anyway, talking about my opinion about this phone, had to say that I'm half-satisfied, half-disappointed Satisfied because one of affordable Lollipop androids available there is, and for the price it's good enough for a starter and the free space is not too small (4 GB is always better than 2) Disappointed mainly due to its screen, not because of the resolution but the screen itself, idk how do I say it but on some phones on a normal position it looks normal but when you tilt it it'll show that the colors are... broken? But this, even on the normal position it just doesn't look right, you gotta tilt it a bit to the front to get the perfect colors on vertical position otherwise it'll rape your pair of eyes, and for horizontal you have to tilt it a bit to the left, due to this I might consider to change it with Z520 or something else

Just got my hands on one, looks like it's going to be a reliable device at its price since there really isn't anything like it at the moment (unless I look for an Android One device under local vendor which has mixed to negative feedback regarding its build quality somehow), also there was a promo along with M220 that is cheaper but I chose this instead because my parents sold my G3 Beat just after it received Lollipop upgrade Some thing to ask, is it going to be okay if it, like, hanged at first try? or so it seemed, I removed the battery and put it back to turn it back on, previously the screen remains black until I noticed that it was actually dimmed so bad I could almost see it from a rather hurting viewpoint (I can tell if the screen's not IPS cmiiw tho)

If you don't like Acer z220, you can have the Microsoft Windows version m220 same specs but downgrade to the ram and downgrade to the internal storage, but it is upgradeable to Windows 10.

Mother of bezel it is cos Acer puts it's speaker and Mic on the bezel just like HTC, but their speaker is quiet the good thing is it has a fine sound detail.the screen viewing angle is not that great but it's very acceptable especially when compared to Samsung entry level smartphone, the brightness is struggling when dealing with a very bright morning sunlight.

This phone performance is depend on you, cos Acer install a bunch of unused.bloatware(or it depends on the carrier) 8gb of internal storage is pretty good 4gb free, battery just last four 14 hours average,9 hours heavy usage.it does gets warm when multitask, the bezel is more hand friendly than the sharp edged z205.

Z205 can have 4:3&16:9 aspect ratio on both 3&2 mp mode, z220 5mp is brighter than the z205 but darker in some condition compared to 5 mp unit on Xperia models. The z220 speaker is just a tiny strip between the screen it's a front facing one, it's good but it's very quiet and below average in speaker volume.

5mp rear camera picture results is similar to Sony's 5 mp cam but it's has more noise but same amount of details. Lowlight? It's Just fine and it does support led flash. Fact: Acer z205 is support to upgrade to lollipop but Acer seems quiet after that announcement, and z205 version camera is actually 5mp unit(2mp effective pixel&3mp interpolar
