OMG! This phone is exactly like a ferrari pulled by a horse. It could do a lot of things, just doesn't have the power. How much could it cost to put a faster processor and at least double the RAM and internal memory? After 3 days of use, i want to smash it into pieces. It's very slow and annoying if u want to run any program it just gets stuck or runs it very slowly.

@Lynx - best of all is to install a Java emulator like Esmertec Jbed. Once you've done this just copy your JAVA .jar files inside any folder on the phone, start the emulator and use its menu in order to install the games/applications. For more info and downloads browse this forum - (its in Bulgaria, so use Google Translate to observe it)

This is a WindowsMobile device, hence it supports nearly ALL kind of video formats. Just install the freeware player TCPMP or itc commercial twin - CorePlayer. This is the official TCPMP page - . There a a few independant unofficial releases too.

@aidsah - As far as this is a WindowsMobile smarthpone it supports ALL kinds of video codecs, but you have to install the proper software by yourself - either the freeware TCPMP Player, or the commercial CorePlayer. (IMHO - TCPMP is better :) )

This phone is nightmare! I just bought it today (6.08.10) and feels like want to throw this rubbish inside my neighbors pond. Hang, hang, and hang. come on! i'm not going to complaint much if the company is still new in producing electronics goods. but come on~ there are so much lappies produced before this. but why still have lagging and hang problem. The NEW price last year is about RM2.5k I think it's not worth. I'm going to sell my phone and latest market price for M900 is RM950. Damn!

to active 3G & mms u just need to go to the communication mannager where all the PHONE, DATA CONNECTION, WIFI, BLUETOOTH & FLIGHT MODE were. & on the data connection (do not turn off)... off your phone then turn it on back.. u be able to used the service mms & 3G. i've been using this phone for only 2week old & able to used3G & mms..

Just for the records, regarding the finger print scanner, I use it as an almost flawless 4-way navigation device by setting 'Motion Sensivity" to 'High', 'Delay before first repeat' to 'Fast' and 'Tap Sensivity' to 'Fast' (i.e. all three sliders all the way to the left), and the 'Nav Emulation' selector to 'ROCKER (4-way)' (these controls are under 'Start > Settings > System tab > Finger Navigation'). I loose the central button emulator (OK/Close) by setting these controls this way, but such function is available in the rocker wheel on the left side, anyway. Besides, I find the Golden Finger function a very good security function. I use it daily. This device is quite exceptional. I have mine since last September, and I like it more and more each day. Just my 2 cents...

This phone really sucks, its terrible! Worst smartphone I have ever had. 1). Touch screen .... worst I have ever used. hit screen .. try again .... try again ... nightmare .. only really works with a stilus. 2). Build quality SHOCKING !!!! Battert clib on bac becomes so loose it drops off every time I anser the phone. Also the stilus falls out after 6 months of using it. I now have none left and they dont sell replacements. So I have to use my fingers on teh screen .... oh wait that screen is RUBBISH. dont waste your money by the HTC ...

There is an inaccuracy in the post above: the M900 does NOT have a standard 3.5mm jack for earphones - it uses the mini-usb socket for its earphones. I have had my M900 since it was first released in June 2009. I think it is a great phone, but I'm thinking of changing it for 2 key reasons... [a] I can't see the display outdoors. If you think about it, what good is it having a great GPS phone if you can't read the maps and follow the directions. [b] I can't hear it except in a quiet room. Even with the sound turned up to its loudest it's very difficult to hear if there's background noise like traffic, or in a bar. One final negative (but not a reason for changing it): the keyboard is not too good IMHO. The keyboard has two symbols per key. The alpha symbols are easy to read and are white on black on the right side of each key. The alternative symbols are orange on black on the upper left side of the key. In anything other than bright light your eye focuses on the white alpha char and you end up pressing the key slightly to the right of centre. The keys often don't work properly unless you press them dead centre. Hope you find this info useful, Kind Regards Steve Mills.

just bought this phone last month..had a hard time tweaking the phone to optimal performance at first but was satisfied after setting it up the way i want it to(i flashed a lite rom and installed only the essential apps) and yes i agree with the comment posted above, dont use acer shell as it makes the phone barely usable due to insufficient memory. great camera btw...overall i rate it a 9/10 for all the features and for its qwerty keyboard and its big screen

I have an acerM900 and it is the best mobile ever. The only thing is that the flash is not very good. The quality of the photos are great for a mobile. Do not use the ACER shell is not very good and it is too heavy. Use the SPB mobile and you will have all that you need with no memory problems running 2-3 programs at the same time

Avoid Acer! Even though this is the best WM slider-phone with true world 3G bands and really fast CPU, the hardware durability fails. More than enough people on 4winmobile.com, including myself, have had the mini-usb fail within 3-4 months of normal usage, compared to 2-3+ years with HTC-built. Also, after sending it back to Acer to get the mini-usb repaired and taking almost a month's time to get the main board swapped out, the device came back with the caps-lock light non-operational and the screen not fully registering touches (as verified by the built-in tester program) and a few hard-resets.

Im pleased with the ACER M900 in general. Not so sure about some of the negative comments below, but hey you always get people moaning about anything. Having said that the ONLY negative I would say about this phone is the battery life is pretty poor, I dont use it that heavily during the day and its usually in stand by mode but after taking it off charge at 7am it normally needs charging again by 6pm and thats not using it heavily. Of course I can buy a 2nd battery or have a charger in the car and a USB charger plugged into the PC at work which helps. Apart from that the phone is fine, takes decent photos but remember even though its a 5 meg camera it is a phone and will not take mint photos like a stand alone 5 meg camera, it is a mobile phone after all with so many options and functions it takes some time to go through them all. I have the HTC Tytn 2 and the Acer is bigger but looks nicer, if Im honest I prefer the HTC angled screen when Im emailing as it is more natural with the screen tilted towards you, having said that the Acers screen is a lot bigger and easier to look at. The acer does have the finger print security but I turned mine off as it gets on my nerves having to keep using it but thats a personal thing. It works faster enough for me. I did want the HTC Touch Pro 2 as Ive always had HTC phones but using the ACER M900 with the SPB Mobile shell it is one hell of a mobile that much I can tell you. Just let down by the short battery life apart from that mint.

already use this phone for 1,5 months, generally great phone but still have problem with the video camera mode which very lagging in any pixel mode, maybe wait till it has software update. the gps very fast to respond maybe because sirf star 3 chipset compare to my old tytn2 . memory only 128mb very shame,if 288 like new high end htc phone will be very good because i installed opera htc touch hd version very2 good to use and i have to uninstalled it because it takes lot of memory (approx 15mb) . i bought it 700usd last month maybe now already 650usd. overall very pleased to have this phone and i recomended it compare to htc or other brand with this price and technology.

My fear about Acer using E-ten hardware is confirmed. look at DX900 at Acer and then at E-ten. exactly the same. Hate Glofiish, had two of them and they suck. Acer be careful!!!

Acer is waiting for WM 6.5 and has confirmed that the release dat will be mid september 2009. If this phone was released now and with a price just under the HTC pro2 it would be great. But if they wait till september/october, there will be more competition with simular specs.

I'm getting really annoyed. This phone was supposed to be out 25th May. There is still NO NEWS anywhere about it's release date. None of the high street mobile companies know anything about it either. Come on GSMARENA, do your job and get us some useful information about a release date (don't bother going on the Acer website either because there is nothing there).

Acer M900 is made by Eten in Taiwan. I have had Eten devices before and I really like them. I especially like the fact that they use SIRF III GPS chipset in this device. It is so much better than any Qualcomm GPS chipset pdas, from user experience. Qualcomm have a lag on fixes and it really gets annoying at times. This phone has it all with all its great features, just wish they would have more RAM and ROM; But I have to say, Well done ACER you have my vote. I believe they are coming out in May 2009.

Does anyone have a clue on what this phone will retail for? Do you know if it can be upgraded to WM6.5? I am dying to get it. I looked at the Fuze but the screen is too narrow. I've also considered the Samsung Epix which has touch screen as well as a qwerty keyboard, but the design is not as "spunky" looking. This has everything I wanted in terms of looks and features. Can't wait to hear the release date.

will hit markets by April, we are all waiting for this series. Acer is the leader in notebook market and is trying to get a market share to compete with Nokia & Samsung using latest technologies. Hope that fair competition will enable us "end user" to get technology at reasonable prices :-)

Agree with pocahontas' comment... it's not a 2 mp camera, it's 5 mp camera! Why not to add the xenon flash feature? It's very disappointing. Very questionable R&D department actually :S

I wish they would go ahead and give any camera with 5MP or more a xenon flash. That would wrap up my no-brainer puchase of this phone for sure.
