alcatel Pixi 3 (3.5) - User Reviews

  • So hopelessly crippled by poor connectivity and hardware it should not even be considered a smartphone. In years to come items such as this will be regarded as disposable childrens' novelties, and even the kids will feel disappointed on seeing such devices fall out of their Christmas crackers.

  • The worst smartphone ever made. Constantly catching, filled with lags, freezing, really filling your patience. Has GPS, accesses Google Maps, works up to Waze but with that low level of efficiency. You have to be a true monk to endure so much ordeal. Want a cheap and really valuable option? Get a Xiaomi Redmi 5A, light anoz better, for basic use will not get you on hand.

  • Seems to work well. As others have mentioned the touch screen needs calibrating but otherwise it works as a basic smart phone. I did notice that it won't set up on 4G correctly because the page that normally lets you enter access (eg network name) is blank but this could be a known problem. If anyone has a fix please let me know on anarchy2012 rat hotmale drat co dot uk (Substitute common sense replacement symbols and words for spelling errors)

  • It has gps and maps

  • A SIM free Android smartphone for £30. Brand new. Can't really knock that, can you? Bear in mind that for £30 you get no GPS (so no maps), no NFC (so no Android Pay), and what is easily the worst touch display I've ever used. It also has a tiny amount of RAM and internal storage (512MB and 2GB respectively), and yet comes preloaded with the full Monty of Google apps, including (bizarrely, given the total lack of GPS) Google Maps. If you buy from Three UK (as I did), it also comes preloaded with their bloatware. However, once rooted with "KingRoot" (then install "CTR recovery", uninstall KingRoot, then flash SuperSU from recovery), debloated with "System app remover", then you work around the low resources with Apps2SD, it's actually not too bad, and (as others have already mentioned) the battery life is simply incredible for a smartphone. Overall, a little gem. A proper Android smartphone for less than the price of a Raspberry Pi 3! Bargain!

  • About 5 days on standby it's a remarkable little bugger.. Love it

  • I bought the 4009x model as I needed a phone withheld numbers could contact me on (my others all block them automatically). At roughly £40 new I wasn't expecting miracles. The phone did the task I wanted, it is easy to message people from & does do most things (YouTube, Facebook, Videos, Mp3, Amr, etc) also you can install apps for more 'features' if needed/wanted (e.g.playing mp4, flv, ogg files or bigger keys for bigger 'keyboard' keys). The battery can last a fair few hours (in constant use), a day or three roughly (if not used much) but it all depends of if you charge the battery correct the first time and on usage. The sound quality is decent for what the speakers are, the volume range is good. The microphone is like many others, iv not had any faults with it (but I don't record stuff, for normal chat its fine). The camera is.. well.. not great, its cheap which sadly shows as its like it has beers goggles on (nearly all pictures taken are blurry which makes it pointless & its not just the app). Camera flash is however pretty bright (but makes no difference since the camera is junk). One big downside/flaw for me is that the phone is slooooooooooooooow, turning it on seems to take an eternity (and that's with 'fast boot)'.. turning the Phone off is a tad faster. Apps are not exactly fast to load which can get annoying.. there's no real multi-tasking which is not great considering some old phones could multitask to some degree, I know its not got a lot of ram or space but if the programmers thought about it a little better they could of made this super fast & snappy (hell if I can multi-task on 1mb I'm sure on more its possible lol). Other than that there OK phones, not the best but not the worst, at least it works & there are a fair few custom ROMs out for it :)

  • This was bought as a backup mobile..... I'd have been better with 2 tin cans and a piece of string. I can't even really describe how slow this thing is but I'll give it a go. It is a case of tap an icon and wait...and wait.......................................................and wait until it eventually responds. That is without there being any extra apps installed on it. The only really way it is useful as a device is to either use it as a paperweight or to put under the wonky leg of an unstable table. I'd suggest buying a used mobile with higher ram etc than to purchase this new.

  • I think you'll find it can take a memory card, the single SIM version

  • Bought Optus Alcatel Pixi 4 (3.5 screen). This comes in two forms, double Sim and single Sim. Double Sim (version 4017D) can be memory expanded with up to 32g MicroSD. Single Sim (version 4017X) CAN NOT be MEMORY EXPANDED. Maximum storage for personal photo's, MP3's etc is 1.4gb After deleting ALL downloaded apps that you have. Not much use to anybody. I could find NO manuals online for the 4017X version. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

  • I like this device because 4.4 has what it needs to make it worth the risk of kingroot USB method only from a PC cyanogenmod offer a final update to 5.1 if you wish and that can mount a bigger SD that for sure this device can get a lot done using proper Android

  • Roots easily with King/kingo. 500mb ram lags it slightly...I just use it at work in a free moment. Mine's the 4009x...have the System & apps between 50&100 Mb, as usual with 97% of fonts, apps & tones deleted. Keeping it rooted as sdcard write is hard with 4.2.2 system.

  • You pay for what you get its a cracking little phone with some good features I paid £10 unlocked refurbed...does me fine

  • cheap and cheerful smartphone. This cost me about £20. It does all the basics fairly well, it can handle skype and whatsapp without any issues. It isn't designed as a multi-tasking workhouse but I didn't expect that for £20! It's very small and convenient to carry around and the battery is pretty impressive, I tend to get about 2 days at least out of it with average use. I've tried more expensive phones and found myself hunting for a charger before the end of the day or half way through a call. Not so with this little fella. I've read the negative comments and can't say I agree, it has never frozen on me, the keyboard is fine with a little practice (or install another from Play Store). It does what it says on the box, a smartphone at a bargain price. If you don't expect a high end android or Iphone killer, you won't be disappointed.

  • Where can I get the SIM ME lock [NP] slot 2: ?

  • How long does the battery last?!?!

  • Best phone i ever find on cheap price only 99 riyals in saudia arabia.i had two phones but i use this phone mostly during work and its result is great i only use messenger or imo on this audio quality is good.

  • What do you want from a cheap phone, I suppose you want it to perform like an iPhone......Nope not happening

  • Whoa! I guess you all (who are dissapointed, ¬¬ ) can design and make a cellphone in your garages by yourselves, or ... actually I think that you all could not make a fire without matches, a lighter or another technologic way, if you would survive (by change, XD) a cataclysm like a nuclear war, an asteroid hitting the Earth, etc, etc. Anyway if you don't want your phones, I suggest to donate to third world countries, there are people who would be happy with them. So you'll say you lost it and then you can ask to your "grannies" for another one. "Appreciate our belongings". ;)

  • I agree. Worst phone EVER. I cannot find a case for it at all. I bought it at Walmart and they don't even carry a case for it. I have ordered four cases thinking they would work to no avail. It doesn't hold a charge for very long at all. I wish I could say something positive but I just can't. Sorry.

  • First of all, there is a mistake in the description. I have purchased this phone with the ee network in the UK and that phone has no GPS connectivity. Otherwise, considering the phone came free with a pay as you go top up, I suppose it is a good cheap device to listen to your music, watch movie clips or even as a spare phone you keep in your car or in case of emergency.

  • Just bought one for £20 - refurbished - for use as an android MP3 player , that can also play various audio formats with free downloadable software . In addition it has bluetooth for the car stereo / or home Bluetooth speakers . plenty of extra room with the 32GB memory slot , for playlists for the gym or jog. Download Deezer, or the like for additional streaming to external wireless speaker. Should be fun and cheap doe a quality AUDIO PLAYER.

  • Worst phone i have ever had the displeasure to use!!!!!!

  • Already have a phone for general use. Just want another small phone for use to do audio recordings only. Is this phone, it?

  • Difficult to use/ only need it for texts and calls. Where can one buy a simple mobile to use without all the extras!

  • however,I drop it so many times ,it is still not broken... consider durable for a basic phone

  • Disadvantages: Unsatisfactory options on the phone, bad camera, the phone is too warm when you open 2 3 applications. The menu is low and not compatible software (kit kat..... why) Jelly bean would be better on this phone, but there isn't other android to install on this phone. There isn't other opportunity for the moment. Advantages: small and comfortable for the hand, rugged phone.

  • Only a certain model of this phone has a front camera. The Volcano Black has no front camera but the standard black does.

  • How to go to front camera then?

  • Terrible horrible no good very bad pull your hair out and wash a basin of dishes while it loads Android Cell. And don't attempt to text faster than Grandma or it will get lost and freeze for five seconds. Otherwise, Its like a walk in the park...with a 26 year old bull dog :(

  • where is the front camera...i have been trying to find it?

  • OMG.Is this the worst android phone ever?.Totally unresponsive.Just try the back key!!!.Built for people who really only want to call and text, even that is difficult. Avoid this one.For a few more pounds there are reasonable phones around.

  • Okay. I have to be honest. It isn't the worst phone ever, but its very close to being it. I guess for the price it is it is good value for money, but it is the slowest thing I have ever used. It is generally unresponsive and always has been, I have to wait a minute after pressing the screen lock button for it to even think about turning on. After multiple factory resets and wipes it is still the slowest piece of technology I have ever used (and I have had some sh** phones) If you are planning on buying this phone, even as a 'starter' phone. It will end up smashed after you have thrown it at a wall repeatedly. Good luck with using your phone!

  • It does have a front camera.

  • Doesn't have a front camera and I need one 4 my life wrost phone ever

  • Worst phone I ever owned.this is the phone for you if you are about the journey, not the destination..coz you ain't ever gunna get there with this one.as for customer support.there bent over position is the onlyscore the pixi got.the thieves at alcohol/aAlcatel are taking the pixi with this one.if you like mystery flights well this is the same concept except the window seats r reserved for the window lickers at al can't tel .in fairness.it would suit someone with a $5 a month plan as long as there unused credit rolled over to next month, and they don't actually need a phone

  • Sorry about your purchase.this will probably be one of the last contacts you'll make with this phone.the grieving process will begin shortly.don't try customersupport.leave that for the judge..as tthere's no courage in there .conviction.as you may have read don't root phone.its already rooted

  • settings, sound, notification sound > select one louder.

  • Just purchased this pixie phone and all seems good, except i can't get a tone when i receive a message. Any ideas pleas anyone? I have looked at manual but found no joy. Otherwise a really good basic phone. Thanks.

  • hello..i just bought pixi 3..here in specification show that the phone has dual sim slot but i ve got only one..does my phone is same as that pixi 3 or there is another model? What will the phone will becoming if i choose to upgrade it?Is there any trouble later? After that upgrading...?

  • behold, I say this all the time and nobody reads '''' do not root on the phone'''' I'll make brick'''' OK , now try this install ' CM SECURITY ' from PlayStore , then Start app cm security and when he finds trojans request to install ' Stubborn Trojan Killer' done to Start the app and Trojans will to kill. Now the phone will be ok keep this app would not re- infected phone and if this will help , then come back and thank the most dangerous application are ; whatsapp, snapchat but if you can not start the phone try this ; hold down the volume up key and press power key at same time until the screen lights up to boot the device with recovery mode , and then press volume up\down to select the ''wipe data factory reset.'' this will erase all personal data from internal storage.

  • SIR I need help...I just briked my pixi 3 3.5 during my attamp to root this devices now I desperately need a stock rom for pixi 3 3.5 that can be flashed by sp flash tool can someone upload a stock rom for this devices..please contact me thenks for reading

  • do not do root with time comes virus in the system and takes over the operating system, and then it becomes useless brick but if you do,then immediately try to unroot need more rom, then delete some unused apps, and they in system can only disable, and will not work in background. and clear cache 1 day. facebook, snapchat, messenger, they eat your ram memory and battery life

  • I like it...mine has 5 MP camera. Cheap and useful cell phone!

  • alarm volume sucks..other than that it's a good phone for it's price..

  • 2mp camera ? i thought its 8mp ? i saw it at the mall

  • Certain models of this fone has 5mp camara. I Have model 4009E.

  • EDIT: z4root did not brick it, just made it unresponsive for a while. Tried Towelroot but could not even get it to run. Still an alright phone though :)

  • Framaroot did not work, z4root bricked it, Towelroot would have been my next option. But with my brief time with it, it was a good phone, the camera was terrible, but it was able to transition between apps and to and from the launcher (Alcatels custom which looked like Android's 'material design') without lag. Cleaning up the phone by disabling bloatware and apps that I intended not to use freed up 1.8GB of internal memory, however it was expandable to 32GB so I could hardly complain. My plan was to use Link2SD and Aparted to partition the SD card then link apps that cannot be move to the SD card to the SD card, but that would have required root access. The other downfall would have been its battery life, with the brightness down as low as possible just trawling through the settings for 1/4 of an hour knocked the battery down ~5%, so if your on your phone all day then the battery would last you about 5 hours. All in all this phone would suit a person who may just check there Facebook, make a few phone calls and texts and browse the web during there 9-5 job, where as soon as they get home plug it in and charge for the next day, but definitely not for the avid photographer.
