Now this is for the CLASSIC iPad 3 from 2012, NOT the iPad Air 3. If you want a review for the AIR 3, this is the wrong page. Now lets get into the review. This is one great tablet. it may not have thin bezels, it may not be the thinnest, it may not be the fastest, but its dependable. My old iPad3 has been servicing me for 7 years now, it still works fine. Now some may ask why I haven't replaced it, well I will tell you why, IT STILL WORKS. I do not believe in replacing perfectly working things after one or two years of service. I like my products to last and use them for a long time. This ancient tablet will probably service me until it dies or stops doing what I need it to do.

SIM cards on iPads are only meant for internet connection. You cannot send text messages or call anyone. They don't intend to make iPad as an iPhone substitute for placing calls and texts. -> same for all iPad + Cellular devices

With a device that's locked out of using it, you're going to need to reset the device if you didn't make a backup beforehand. There is no way to save the data on the device. There's 3 ways to do this, and Apple has a support page for it here Follow the instructions there and hopefully all goes well for you. :)

iPad 3 is fine only on some games (It's fine playing my favourite games), a bit lag sometimes but not much with iOS 9.2 and above. Still on good speed on 3G but I reckon should use this if you're okay having wifi.

Hello there! I "own" a 4-5 year old iMac(mid 2010), 3 year old iPad(3 Retina) and a 3-4 year old iPhone(4S). So far i've experienced none of those "shady" marketing strategies described above, in fact, in all these years, i've only payed for a handful of apps(5-10$) -and that as a whim. Not to say that all the software and future updates came for free, for ALL my devices(including Mac). For me, the user experience povided by Apple is far more unique elegant(minimalistic&functionality) and user friendly(ergonomic) then that provided by other manufacturers. In my opinion iPad product is all good marketing to get you in the trap. MAC is forcing everyone to buy their product limiting what you can do for example with iPad. A simple thing connect your external hard drive that you can easily do with any android product, to do this with iPad on top of the high price that you already paid you have to pay 200 or 300 Euros more to be able to connect an external hard drive. Even free I don't want an iPad.

I was advised to get an iPad by a family member who has a history of using Apple products, so I got one. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't. Although it is lightweight and convenient to take with me to school or trips, surf the Internet and play games, that's about all the positives for me. I have yet to find an application that allows me to create documents or presentations that are intuitive or without programming bugs. The wi-if gives me trouble sometimes when trying to get connected thru my university's server but when it will connect, it is plenty fast and reliable. Next time though, I think I will buy another laptop instead of a tablet.

I have exact same problem. I bought my iPad 3 last August. After using 5 months , the should got very noisy and fuzzy. I bought it back to Apple in Feb 2014 and I got a new one for replacement. The sound got very noisy again after 3 months. I didn't do anything. I was watch the show and in the middle of show the sound just happen became noisy again. The iPad is sitting the desk, no one touch or move. It happened the sound broken again and can't hear the voice but rough noisy. I brought back to Apple again. The apple guy told me it's my problem and accused me that I was not careful using my iPad or something about my environment. Come on. I had iPad 3 and I also have another 2 mini iPad , they are in the same environment and I use the same way. I have never had any problem with any of them. I told them the sound device on iPad 3 is defective. However, it's still under warranty, they replaced for me today. I just turned on my brand new iPad just now. The sound is very bad and noisy. I can't used it to listen a music or movie because it sounds the background has a lot of noisy . You can't hear anything but noisy. This is my 3rd one and I just picked up from Apple store today. They don't want to admit, it's defects. Anyone has any comments or solution to correct the noisy issue?

Are you sure your is not iPad 2? My display has no trace of granular look. It is perfectly smooth. The camera IS 5 MP and does great shots! Keyboard is just what we are used to have on PC - no PC will change the letter case on the keyboard. My Safary can handle many more tabs, but you can directly see 10 in landscape mode. I have a strong feeling you are using the wrong iPad (2 has granular look and poor camera)

I have iPad 3 and I can add many pages more than 9 pages maybe because I updated and on the corner of screen there isn't any issues and the screen is great and the keyboard is fantastic too.The only problems with it is the charging time is very much and it heats very soon but it's not really a big problem because it has a great battery life.I heard many places that it has a wi-fi issue.No.Just I think 4 or 5 times after 6 months and they were not noticeable because just if you turn the wi-fi off and then turn it on it would be fixed.

Not what I expected.... the screen has a slightly noticeable granular look..isnt it supposed to be retina display? The on-screen keyboard layout is poor; the letters themselves should change case with my instruction, not just a blue light on a small arrow pointing upwards somewhere at the bottom corners of the screen - may seem like a small issue, but typing can be terribly confusing. The default browser is limited to ONLY 9 tabs. They claim the camera is 5MP, yet display is relatively, not very nice. Graphics are quite good though..videos& pictures. Good sound quality even from the browser on any headset and the inbuilt speakers, however I don't like the way you can only save iTunes media other than pictures. Generally not the best tablet, but not too bad though.

Nah, that's exactly why I love this tablet. The games are just fantastic, with very little to no lag. I'm using GS3 right now, it's fantastic as a phone but for gaming, the performance is just not the same with iOs devices. A lot of lags in Android games, even though my phone's hardware is much more than enough to make even all iOs games run fluently. But the optimization just isn't there

Make that 750,000 apps. App store(iOS) has over 750,000 apps BUT Galaxy note also has over 650,000 apps & that is not a problem at all. I'm shifting from my iPod Touch 4G to Google Nexus 7 soon. Not only it has a bigger screen, but Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU. AND a "12" CORE GPU. And what is the most surprising thing is that it has the Nvidia Tegra 3 Chip which is REALLY good for gaming. Along with that it also offers 1 GB RAM. Hope that helps!

its customizable once you jailbreak it. does not void warranty. when you got a problem with the device, just restore it before you send it to apple so jailbreak is removed. on a tablet, at least for me, the display is the most important thing to consider, because that is the thing you will be looking at all of the time. PDA of magazines looks gorgeous, even newspapers. texts are crisp even when you zoom them in. you need to see for yourself to understand. go to an apple store and you might just fall in love with the screen.

TF700's display is inferior to the new iPad. not just because of the pixel count. iPad 3rd gen has a virtually perfect color gamut which means each and every color is represented faithfully. ipad 3's screen is the best in the market right now, no argument about that. TF700 infinity pad already has JB, but still lags, especially when browsing and zooming in/out web pages. The worst thing about TF700 is that there really aren't good apps OPTIMIZED FOR TABLETS right now for android (almost all apps you use on android tabs are phone apps). and it's the number 1 deal breaker. iPads on the other hand, have abundance of REAL TABLET APPS. Not to mention it is twice as expensive if you buy it with the dock. Not a good deal at all.

Yep, TF700 is currently the best tablet in the world. Not because of the processor and ram only, but display, camera, video rec, build quality, etc. When it gets the JB update, no tablet can beat it. iPad 3 may have a sharper display, but display quality isn't about resolution only.

if you are using iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, or any Android phone from Gingerbread (v2.3) and above, you can use your WiFi Hotspot Tethering. Basically, you will use your phone as a WiFi Hotspot. If you live in the U.S., some or almost all telcos requires you to subscribe to a different data plan which offers tethering. Call your operator about it.

Isn't anyone having a pink tint issue on their ipad 3. I have it on mine and underwent 2 replacements. The 1st replacement had the worst pink tint among all the ipads I have had so far. Now the 2nd replacemnt finaly came by a few days a go, but unfortunately, it does have a light pink tint on it. I have contacted Apple and requested for a refund. They are looking into it and requested me to send an image of the pink tint issue, which I did. I would know more info on what next, by Monday. Here in India the refund policy is different and difficult. Let's see. Cheers!!

Restore/ Foctory Reset the ipad and it would work just fine. By the way I had a pink tint issue on my brand new black ipad wifi 32 GB, I had given it for replacement and tomorrow I would be picking it up from the store. Please pray that the other one does not come with the pink tint issue. I hate the pink tint. I would then ask for a full refund if I notice the pink tint on the ipad again. Fingers and toes crossed. Hi guys. just bought this ipad, it`s awesome. One question, I tryed to pair itwith my bluetooth headset (jabra) and it did, it showed connected and then I did a yahoo messenger call but it didn`t went through the headset itself...just ipad speakers, which are fine, no prob with that but how can I use the bluetooth headseat to make conversations? I haven`t seen any other setting, or it depends on the application you`re using? I mean if u use skype or elese just go somewhere in those settings? thx

It really depends on what you want to do with it. I have worked tech support and have always hated Mac's and anything Apple related. They are too proprietary for my taste. I am a bit of a gadget girl. I bought a Toshiba tablet last Christmas and returned it after about a week. I wanted certain entertainment apps like HBO Go, magazines and more that are only available on the iPad. So in my opinion it all comes down to the apps. I would suggest checking out �iPad vs. Android tablet apps compared side-by-side� at ZDnet or doing a Google search comparing the two; just make sure to set your search to the last year or less. I should also mention *cringe* I just ordered an iPad.

I think that Apple folks can not be undermined for their accomplishments. However, like any other innovator ther is always room for improvement, and if you don't, someone else will come and do it for you. I just don't understand where are the quality guys in all this? those responsible for evaluating, and testing of the product for proper performance, durability and under various conditions. I feel that the consumer is always the "escape goat" where most of the time he pays the high price in "evaluating & Testing" the product for manufacturers, and then tells them about their defects. It is easy to say it with the electronics business, how about the car business, where your brakes do not work on your new car, or if your gas pedal gets stuck dashing you into a deep valley ????

The One Glaring Feature all Wi-Fi ONLY iPads are is a GPS. Without it you can't do so many of the things almost any other competitor can do out of box. No Speedometer App can work, No Real Time Mapping Features and you can forget about Augmented Reality..... ever! If you ever get stuck out in the boonies you'll still be lost without a Wifi signal. The only place you can reasonably use a Wifi Only iPad is at HOME. Nothing makes this more apparent than when you either use a iPad with 3G/4G built in (w/GPS included) or you just so happen to have bought a Nexus 7 to compare it to. Suddenly you discover just how much having a GPS adds to the whole Tablet Experience. With GPS your device always knows where you are when it's convenient. If you don't want it on because of fear of the SkyNet Oogi Booggie Man you can turn it off. Super Duper Retina? Completely over rated and too far ahead of it's time. Online it's not doing you any good and probably never will for another 5 yrs. Battery life sucks and it's not worth the extra thickness, heat and weight for something that after you get used to it, it's just a matter of degrees. If you've got a iPad 2.... stick with it. Especially if it's got 3G/GPS built in! btw... just got a Nexus 7 because it's faster, better and has many more features including GPS and yeah NFC for Tap to Share, Tap to Pair (4.0 Bluetooth), Tap to Transfer and of course Tap to Pay. Apple really needs to get with the Future Soon. NFC is a Multi-Billion Dollar Business in it's infancy. I think you could find thousands of useful apps for web browsing, photo/video editing, games, utilities and things on the AppStore and I believe they are still developing apps, :) Looking forward on having an iPad3 next month, had an iPhone before so I think I'm a bit used to using iOS devices. no from i pad to ipad 2 is the biggest difference.In fact its a HUGE difference! the ipad has single core 1ghz but the ipad 2 has dual 1ghz! The big difference although is on the gpu of the ipad 2 the sgx543mp2 tha is 7 times faster than sgx535 on the ipad and almost 2 times faster than tegra 3 tablets!! And to all of this, having to handle the same resolution like ipad. On the other hand ipad 3 has the same cpu and the same gpu only with plus 2 more cores sgx543mp4(like ps vita's)and has a resolution 4 times the pixels of ipad 2. That means much lesser performance although it has a beautiful screen!

The ipad 3 is great. I mean njust by looking into the retina display, all the other tablets will be blown away. Remember, it's not the CPU or GPU that matters, it's the user experience. No lag whatsoever. The isight camera is also great. I just wish that the battery will be 20 hours instead of the 10 hour promise. Though that's already great compared to others. The heating issue is normal. I mean all gadgets really gets hotter when used extensively. I wish that ios 6 will bring siri to ipad :)

The best way to work on iPad for word and excel files is downloading pages & numbers application from app store. They both cost 10$ each, but believe me u will love them. I have downloaded many office apps, like Polaris quickoffice pages and numbers. And out of all only apple apps ( pages & number ) give u full formatting option for e.g u will get lot of fonts option in these apps which u won't get in other applications. And if u want to shift ur work totally on ur pad, then apple apps are the only option. I have stopped using my laptop, I only pages and numbers.

you sounds like a apple fan boy never tried to use a droid tab. I have been using galaxy note 10.1 and have good experience till now. I have been using ipad 2 also for more than a year and I should say i am happy with that also. Both tabs have totaly differant characters and its on advantages and it is very difficult to say one is better than others. It is subject to the user priferance. For me I do prefer my tab for browsing website with flash content and watching vedios other than mp4. gaming experience on ipad2 is a bit better than tab so do the battery backup. Love the freedome provided by android no need to do jailbraking and no restriction at all compare to ipad but love the flowless interface of ios 5 and it stability

It can't play 720p or 1080p mkv. I try it very lagging and often stop, and I did use many third party player, ipad and iphone only like mov and mp4, play any other format would cause problem, stick with android.

I used this device for about a month. I liked it. resolution is so good. you can run HD games very well on this one. I have couple of thinks that I did not like with iOS itself but as a device it is great. only problem is still no JailBreak for this one on 5.1 version yet.

It's depends; If you want to use your tablet for gaming purposes, then iPad would be a great choice. However, if you want to use your tablet solely for web browsing special using flash, and won't mind more complex and more customizable OS, then ASUS Transformer prime would be the better option. I personally prefer the iPad, it's fast enough for me to do anything I want, I play high quality games and watch tons of high res movies on it. Also the Air-Play is very useful if you have an apple TV.

Very Soon, Microsoft is planning to release office for iPad probably in summer, but Microsoft didn't say exactly when. However you can still open and edit excel files using many different applications that are already available in the App Store. I too edit documents on my iPad 3 and it works very well. I use Apple's own (Pages) app for iPad to edit or even write word documents and also use (Quickoffice Pro HD) to edit excel files. I hope this was helpful and I will guarantee, you will love your new iPad.

I Agree... I mean... I love iOS devices.. and i'm a supporter of Android (OS esp. with Sony's interface and hardware) but the feeling that ur product has the "royalty" feeling, or not being outdated, iOS devices fits. My iphone 3G (though slow), still punches some of the current devices. iPad 1, iTouch 1, ipod nano 1, all idevices' first products are still usable and packs some angst.

iPad implementation of reminders doesn't have the "remind me at location" function. Neither wifi or 3G. Doesn't make sense but that's how it is. It's on iPhone only.

The New iPad doesn't show it is charging when connected to a computer, but in fact it is charging. Though the charge is so insignificant, that it is probably the right thing to say that USB charging is not really supported

Hi people, dont you think that the screen of the ipad 3 is kind of pinkish.... I mean the screen of ipad 2 is much better. I agree in the tech specs section, ipad 3 has a better resolution, but check out the screen difference of ipad 2 and ipad 3, you would def find that in the ipad 3, the screen is kind of pinkish..... If Steve Jobs was alive, he would have looked into getting this fixed at the earliest. Let's hope sooner or latter, Tim Cook realizes this. Cheers!!

Alright guys enough with the Android bashing, my buddy has an iPad 2 that I have played with over 30 times, and I have an Asus Transformer(not prime). There is virtually no difference in the two as far as performance goes. We have run every test we could think of web browser, Youtube, same app loading time, HD video playback, and video recording quality and what we found is that they both performed almost neck and neck in every test given the Transformer had better video quality 5mp vs 2mp. Android is not going anywhere especially to Windows tablet, is that a joke? Let's not forget Windows Phone 7 is about 2-3% of the smartphone market and android is holding down the largest market share with around 47% so I highly doubt they will come in and dominate the tablet market. Android is not goin anywhere, oh and as for it being faster than the Tegra 3 is doubtful, it's hardware is not better it's just because Apple truly does have some gifted coders and developers than can optimize their iOS software to run just as good on lesser powerful hardware.

ipad three or whatever they call, i think it is good for the people that love it. for me, i think apple should try and be creative for once, not just increasing the screen resolution,changing the processor and the graphics chip that matters. they should try and build something that should extend/expand the consumer's usability, something that will save cost and bring alot of opportunities, something that will eliminate the need for multiple devices. take Asus padfone for example. lets wake up, enough of those reharshing of ideas. they should revamp it .

How can Apple keep that extremely outdated dual-core processor? 1Ghz, that's nothing for something that costs 499 dollars. That GPU is certainly not 4x faster than the one in Tegra 3. One problem with the "new" iPad is that you'll probably not be working on iPhoto with photos taken with the iPads camera. At 5 MPix today you are at the low end of pictures resolution. And I wonder how the 1944x2592 pictures will scale on the 1536x2048 screen.
