I have this phone since 2009 and was quite satisfied because of Windows Mobile software. No compatibility issue when saving and opening documents like powerpoint, excel, and word.

I stay in Nigeria and i use P526 ASUS phone, this phone write in french, i have tried all options to make it write in English but to no avail. This has made me limited with this phone because i don't speak or write in french. Some body told me that the English software is not available on the phone. I got the greek version of it and then downloaded from the internet somewhere a US firmware (hacked by tai hackers and enhanced with some nice features such a utility to overclock the CPU - highly recommended). After the upgrade the gps receiver part was not visible, but after running the gps upgrade utility in asus web site everything is fine.

This phone was bought by me 15 months ago. The battery remains low and the incoming or outgoing call register does not work. The sound quality is also poor compared to a Nokia. I tried to get my phone repaired but the service engineers said that the parts are not available. Solution - I had to dump the phone and I have now shifted back to Nokia. E71. Recommendation - Dont buy this phone even if you are looking for a PDA etc.

HI You have to change your firmware. try to download an english version firmware and update your phone. wish it will help you.

mp3 songs can be set as ring tones.go to tones in settings.select the song to set as ring tone.you can select the particular portion of the music provided you edit the selected song separately.

Good Screen resolution, Nice keys and great look but there is some problem with the SMS system. You will not always get real time SMS's some time in bunches of 3-4 SMS. Yes alarm tunes are also very soft.

Normally the GPRS settings are set automatically when you turn on the phone for the first time. Thats what my phone did. Mine is a BSNL connection in India.

I had the same problem before and I thought that there was a problem with the phone so i took it back. However I found out that this phone is very critical of the quality of the memory card that you use. If you are using a class A card (note: cheap kind) it will have the problem that you are describing. My suggestion is to buy a good class memory card (I bought a relatively expensive Transcend brand) and the the problem did not occur anymore.

Hi! I bought this PDA 1 week ago. Disatvantages of this phone: -poor quality of microphone (Frequently I can't understand what did this person say who was talking to me). -music player is VERY silent. -no Auto focus(It's unuseful to take photos, especially to capture a text) -I have to choose alarm tone from the given which is only one beep and it's all... if I have to wake up in the morning, I need to put an alarm on the other device,in other case I won't wake up. (I hope that I will fix this problem) -on my SonyEricsson P990i PDA I can navigate with finger on the touch screen without using stylus, but using this phone, it's impossible. -I didn't find out how to find numbers which are stored on SIM card (I know that it's my problem but I think that it's anyway impossible. Maybe someone could help me in this case). -already mentioned T9 problem. I have to switch every time to Abc mode, because I write every day in Latvian, not in English. -battery life could be better. Advantages: +It is, I think, the cheapest PDA in my country which have Windows Mobile OS and GPS. ($280.-) +I instaled tomtom and GPS is really working (It's amazyng!) +I really like design of this phone. +numeric keypad +Profiles are comfortable created Resumee: I bought this phone because I needed GPS Navigator. Other functions were secoundary. You don't have to spend your money on navigator programs. I downloaded tomtom7 from torrent site and now use it with plesure. If you don't need GPS, than do not buy this phone. You can spend this money for better phone. But if you need cheap PDA with GPS and if you need only make a call or send sms and other settings are not so important, than you can buy this phone. I won't sell my SE P990i because I like listen loud and quality music. So you have to decide yourself... I can say that GPS is really working very good... I think that the best PDA will be SE XPeria. But we will see. Good luck in finding the best phone for you!

I am currently using a micro SD memory card that needs to be formated every time i restart the phone. The problem is that even I accept to format the card, a message appears (that the formatting cannot be performed) and so the cards is unusable. Only after the card is formated in another device and inserted in the phone it becomes usable again. Please provide me a solution for my problem as it is very frustrating to install and copy data every time the phone is swiched off/on.

I bought the phone from Pune Crome mall.The performance is good. However when charging the phone I got a slight shock while attending a call. (Need to check if it is a problem with my phone alone.)Check if you have a service center at your area before buying the phone. Overall I am satisfied.

Guys believe me this phone rocks. Sound quality is a treat for ears. Awesome still photos. User friendly with Touch, scroll keys and kepad. I have been using this from past 4 months and have faced no problems at all, but video recording is poor. In all is worthy.

this is one of the best cellphones u can ask for,i am a frequent traveler and its gps is just amazing , u get it all at torrentz no need to spend 100-200$$$$$$. i am really happy with this phone and will use it till it gives up on me leki my previous cellphones couldn find a better phone to replace my old 1 but its been worth it, and its not about the money after all u can buy a 1000$ phone but this 300$ phone gives me pleasure that a million $ 1.

Good Phone. Value for Money. Bought it for Rs 12990 and Rs 1200 extra for Memory card. Excellent Screen clarity and rich colour. Camera is not so good for video recording. However for Still photos, this phone rocks. No issues till now, except for battery life. Dont expect much from battery. Stays for around 2 days for me (I am not a heavy caller). For heavy calls the battery might last for around 1 day. No software for GPS. I am using Google maps.

I bought the thing and besides that there is no WI-FI everything seems to be OK. It's handy, it works, it does everything I need. I have it for two months now and I do not understand - am I the only one that has no problems with Asus P526 or everyone else here lies in their posts. To those who intend to buy it: If you realy need this king of PDA/GSM it's worth the money paid. But dont forget - there is no Wi-Fi. Nice day to you all.

Most of problems i read here would've never been problems if the users manual was read before use!! To all those who are facin problems in typin messages try the transcriber!all you need to do is write on your screen!works lik a charm, infact works even better than the one on htc...have fun.

hi there, i have this P526 for the pass 6 month now, but still i have some trouble with it. 1. it cannot read my microSD card. 2. try to install the GSD into my pc (WINDOW VISTA), then it say cannot install, because i need to install adobe flash player 8 or better, whihc i did, but still it cannot be open. can anybody help with this?

it sims that everybody have problem using the keyboard of the asus p526 but u can try this way 1 -- open text massage......than set to T9 2- on the left side thers is a jog dial......when u press the keyboard button ( eg "a")than there the latter (a,c,b,2 and add word ) will be display u can scroll down using the jog dial and press the jog dail(enter) or u can set any word by using the "add word"so that u dont need to type it again...... u can find simbol in the *a/A by press it a few second and scroll using jog dail hop u can explore more..... -- http:cantiksihat.com

Greetings all! I just bought the P526 for my wife to replace her ageing O2 XDA II. Since she uses it more for it's PDA function, it does not matter that it has no WiFi. She finds it really nice because of it's small size. My problem is when using the keypad to write messages / notes, it always defaults to T9 input. You have to press the * button to be able to choose Multi-tap input everytime you have to write a new message. Since English is not our primary language, She finds it inconvenient. Is there a way to be able to make Multi-tap the default setting? Thank you!

a good phone. nice design. the touch screen is great.no wifi and 3G is a major set back also it does not support EDGE even though mentioned. sometimes SMS does not work. you need to reset always. battery is not great. very dissapointig. an average phone with basic features nothing to boast about than the GPS.

this phone is not slow at all, the processor is like an core 2 duo, but with out the duo core. and it has no wi-fi, but if you connect the usb cable to the pc, you can access the internet that way, and use skype like that way too, also there are alot good feature it has not mention in here, e.g. this phone is a real smart phone, you can use your voice to control the application in the phone, and sending sms, and dial numbers, and play music, and use voice to do almost everything that's in the phone. but it's not available in australia unforturnlly

Once again, can someone explain me why any technology company would come up with a newer model with less features??? At this time, how can a PPC come up without a wifi? I thought this phone would be the best phone, after all the features of the P525, and now adding gps+wm6+thinner lighter. And now, no wifi, usb 1, etc. Who uses usb 1 anymore???

In according to official specification (you can find it here this smartphone has 1. Bluetooth 1.2 instead of 2.0 2. USB 1.1 3. has NO Wi-Fi at all So id doesn't look like a very tempting offer. P.S. to admins: please correct the specification

Windows mobile don't usually have a document viewer cause that's what regular phones have. In this OS there should be the MS Words which "views" and "writes", if thats what you mean.. So yes this phone shoud have it..

P525 is 400mhz but P526 is TI OMAP 850 processor 200 MHz. Never think 400 mhz is better. Because P526 have other CPU system and have low frequancy for long battery time.

some correction regarding the PAR at P525 thing,i found out that he RAM is twice as large than any of the current WM phones. P1 got 256Mb of nand Flash, and 128Mb SDRAM which signifies that when it have very good productivity even with a 208Mhz processor.

now it is understandable at least to me why P1 retains the 208Mhz processor while improving much of it's RAM(PAR at P535). if only ASUS and GIGABYTE would manufacture PDAs with UIQ then it's collaboration with SE will probably make a big leap on the UIQ development.
